❝ and i still remember where i was when the feeling changed, and how i burned my tongue when the ceiling caved in. where do you go when the gold is gone, when the old front lawn’s turning grey? ❞
BASICS
NAME: evangeline ingilby NICKNAMES: evie (by friends), angel (by parents) AGE: 19 GENDER: cis-female PRONOUNS: she/her SEXUALITY: bisexual & biromantic ASTROLOGICAL SIGN: scorpio MORAL ALIGNMENT: chaotic good SKILLS: embroidery, singing, piano forte, reading and writing HOMETOWN: london, great britain
FAMILY
FATHER: james ingilby (duke of grafton) MOTHER: cecelia ingilby (nee williams, duchess of grafton) SIBLINGS: eldest brother, eldest sister, older brother, older sister, philip ingilby (deceased)
BACKSTORY
the duke and duchess have a happy marriage — james met cecelia on a trip abroad and fell in love instantly. cecelia was a little less convinced in the beginning but grew to love his kindness and humour. they spent the first few months of their partnership and marriage in new york before returning london to tend to charles', james' ailing father, and to be with him during his last days.
not a single expense was spared during her childhood and none of the ingilby children ever wanted for anything.
the family often took to the sea to visit with the duchess' family in new york. most trips were uneventful, however, on her last trip back to london, the boat found itself in the middle of a treacherous storm.
she has little to no memory of one of the worst nights of her life but when she regained consciousness in the morning, she learned that her youngest brother and her dearest friend, philip was nowhere to be found and presumed dead.
memories of the night come back to her in dreams and she finds it difficult to sleep without tinctures.
she has refused to board any kind of boat since the incident, even if the skies are clear and there isn't a single breeze in the air. she cannot even stomach the thought of being out on the sea for a few hours as she feels somewhat responsible for her younger brother's passing since he was placed in her care.
PERSONALITY
evangeline is not immediately likeable as she tends to keep to herself, is rather reserved and speaks her mind without much thought. outside of observing what is acceptable behaviour for a young lady like herself, whilst under the watchful eye of polite society, she does as she wishes and thinks very little of the impact on others. however, when met with the consequences of her actions, she is often apologetic and attempts to remedy the situation, if she can. she is constantly learning and seeks to form deep connections, but struggles to deal with any obstacles with any delicacy. her family and a few select friends are the very few people that know her true nature — she is fun-loving, good-natured and sentimental underneath the walls she has built to protect herself.

Steve has never actually kissed anyone on New Year’s Eve before. After he and Nancy reconciled post-Demogorgon showdown in 83 they’d gotten close, but Mike had interrupted them on the Wheeler’s front porch, the little shit. And after Nancy, well, he’d been alone in 84. In 85, he and Robin built a blanket fort in his living room and drank themselves sick on root beer until the ball dropped, and he’d held her hand while they drifted asleep, kissing out of the question; he loved her in a different, deeper way.
And now…now it’s 86, about to be 87, and Eddie is alive, miraculously, and all of them are gathered in the new Hopper-Byers house, and Eddie has been flirting with him ever since Steve manhandled his mangled body to the hospital, Steve’s an idiot but he’s not stupid, and here’s Eddie looking at him like Steve is alive, too. Eddie looks at him and something awakens. There’s an electricity in the air, the kind he told Dustin about once upon a time in the woods.
So when he knows no one is watching, he looks Eddie deep in the eye and says “share a smoke?” And they leave the room together for the quiet cold of the backyard, still mostly weeds and the dark of winter and Steve can see Eddie’s breath. Can see how alive he is. He’s been worried about him all year, intrigued by him, pulled toward. And now here they are. The dim patio bulb flickers and before Steve can get out a cig, can say another word, before he can say “happy new year Eddie I can’t stop thinking about you and I know you’ve been flirting with me for months and I want you I want you just as bad will you kiss me?” Eddie is already kissing him.
And it’s soft. It’s so soft, because Eddie is smiling against his mouth in a kiss, his left hand coming up to hold Steve’s chin. And then it’s hotter, their breath mixing as they both open their mouths wider, kissing deeper, feeling their lips move together and Steve can’t believe it can’t think can’t hear the screen door open can’t stop kissing Eddie until he feels Eddie pull away, removing his hands from his hair, hears Robin say “uh, earth to dingus one and two, hello!?”
Steve just stares at Eddie, blushing and smiling. He doesn’t turn to her, can’t look away when he says “hi Rob.” Eddie won’t look away either. Eddie won’t look away from him, does the opposite, grabs Steve’s hand. Steve feels like he’s floating.
“Oh my god, lover boys. It’s only” Steve sees her lift her wrist in his peripheral vision, “ten thirty. It’s only ten thirty and you’re already kissing!” He can hear her exasperation, but beneath he knows, he can feel her approval. He can’t help it, he’s relieved. He’s happy. He starts to giggle.
Eddie starts to laugh too, pulling Steve closer. Steve finally looks over to see Robin rolling her eyes, but she’s also beaming, her face lit by the single bulb, and they pull her down to them, hug her, kiss her on the cheeks. “Ah, my freckled friend. You won’t spill the beans, will you?” Eddie asks.
Robin pinches Eddie’s cheek. “Your secret’s safe with me, hotshot.” Steve knows down to his bones it’s true. Knows she’ll cover for them. This makes him feel even giddier. “I’ll, uh. Let you two get back to it” she says, and then she’s gone, and it’s just Eddie looking at him again, staring at Steve like he’s a second moon, a pretty thing.
They kiss and kiss and kiss, until they slide out of the grass and out the back gate and kiss their way back to Steve’s car, into his house and bed and heart and it’s already a good year.

Infinity and Beyond - Looking Into The Sweet Signals from Space Update!
We’re finding the imposters among us with this one!
The aim of this concept is to have it be a multi-update deal akin to the Dragons storyline with how they say “like the dragon series, we’re diving into a story set in a rich, expansive universe”. This peaked my interest, I’d love to see what they have in store! I know there are some folks who like or don’t like the Dragons story, so I wonder what you all think of this!
Meet Astronaut Cookie! She’s cute, has an ice cream sandwich satellite for a pet, even has a cat cookie motif with her costume? What more could you want! Yeah, her skill might be a bit too reminiscent of Cyborg’s (who also got a skin after 84 years lol), but I’m willing to look past that.
Alright, I’m kind of vibing with the setting already, cookies are probably toothpaste, wonder if they clean your teeth when eaten. How does one “escape” or even fortify against a blackhole? The event itself sounds similar to the Sugar Maze event to me…in a way somehow. Wait, why is Stollen Cookie here?Also Planet H A M B O R G A R
I’m now getting Star Wars: Rogue One flashbacks. Just like Cyborg, it’s been 84 years since he got attention, so I’m happy to see he got a cool skin to deck himself out with!
The Surprise Bears. They can either go well or go very poorly, still means I don’t have to run over and over again for the god damn legendary ingredients. However, I do hope the challenges aren’t meant to be a cap in any way, since that already drags it down when you were able to AFK for hours beforehand, even if it sucked. Team Fight getting a gem boost might give me more incentive to play.
(Gmod flatline sound effect plays)
The Deal with Legendaries is canceled, y’all /j. I can’t keep up with their pace, bro. I’m over here trying to write it from time to time and they already have another one on the way, I’m dead. Xylitol Nova himself is getting flak for having a supposedly dull design unworthy of the rarity, I’m already seeing it in the QRTs on Twitter lol. For me, I’ll wait until I cast judgment, he has a pretty cool skin though…
———————————————————————
(Astronaut Cookie looked all around her new setting, seeing the city’s sleek, clean, futuristic design she hasn’t seen much of back on Earthbread. The cookies here didn’t look all that different too, save for their ingredients being possibly toothpaste in some capacity. She was caught staring at this one cookie in particular, she observed them inspecting the shield and instructing the robots to different spots close to the barrier, Xylitol Nova Cookie chuckled at her once he noticed.)
Xylitol Nova Cookie: Ah, I see you’ve taken an interest in one of my cookies. That would be Xylitol Y/N Cookie, they’re in charge of making sure the barrier is in peak performance, they’ve been hard at work ever since we’ve seen reports of the blackhole.
(Xylitol Nova walked over to them as Astronaut followed. Meanwhile, you were instructing both cookies and robots alike on the status of the barrier, making sure that no fault in any way was detected. Until the voice of someone very familiar to you called your name..)
Xylitol Nova Cookie: Hello, Xylitol Y/N Cookie. How are you doing?
(You greeted Xylitol Nova in return and proceeded to ramble on about the barrier. You did your best at trying to speak to him, but couldn’t ignore that cookie next to him staring at you. It also looked like Xylitol Nova wasn’t taking your analysis seriously with that smile of his, something that bothered you to no end!)
Xylitol Nova Cookie: How routine of you, Xylitol Y/N Cookie. Always thinking about the barrier when we haven’t had any issues in the past couple rotations. We have a guest here today and I’d like for you to meet her-
(You couldn’t, you had to inspect the rest of the barrier-when Xylitol Nova Cookie suddenly hugged you from behind with a strong grip, a scene that made Astronaut Cookie feel…envious. You complained and grumbled as you try fruitlessly to free yourself)
Xylitol Nova Cookie: Xylitol Y/N Cookie. You are taking a break from now until further notice, I’d hate to use my authority on you, but this is for your own good. Feel free to interact with your fellow cookies, come and see me in my residence, or even introduce yourself to our guest here~! (I’d prefer you pick the second option in my opinion)
(You continued to struggle until it felt tighter to move, you looked to your front to see Astronaut Cookie hugging you from the front, her head resting on your chest. You swear she’s…shaking a little bit?)
Xylitol Nova Cookie: What do you know? Even our visitor is agreeing with me, she appears to have taken a liking to you too.

@steddiemas Day 25: Christmas Day Traditions & Activities
Tags: Pre-Relationship Steddie, Christmas Morning, Christmas Fluff, Supportive Wayne Munson, Eddie Munson Is A Sweetheart,
wc: 1488 | Rating: G
Read on ao3 | ao3 collection
It’s not that Steve likes to be alone on Christmas.
He doesn’t think anyone likes to be alone on Christmas — let alone someone who aspires to be a father to six little nuggets one day.
But he has a hard time taking his friends up on their offers to host him for Christmas. Doesn’t want to feel like a burden or impose on anyone’s traditions.
He’s tried in the past — joining the Hendersons in ’84 and Robin basically held him hostage in ’85, refusing to let him wallow alone in his house like some Grinch (her words not his).
No matter how accommodating the Hendersons and Buckleys were or how many times Dustin and Robin assured him that he wasn’t imposing, he couldn’t shake the feeling that he didn’t belong. The cold weight in his gut and the nagging voice in his head telling him if his parents didn’t want him why would anyone else?
(He should probably go to therapy to get that checked out.)
It’s fine though, because Steve’s curated his own Christmas traditions now.
He wakes up whenever he wants to — usually still early because his body has never adjusted to the fact that it no longer needs to wake up at the ass crack of dawn to train — and makes himself an omelet or two. Then he moves into the living room and opens the gift Robin always leaves behind for him because she refuses to let him open something on Christmas.
After making his “Merry Christmas” calls and assuring Robin and Dustin that he’s fine and no, he doesn’t want to come over, he heats up the homemade casserole Ms. Henderson makes Dustin deliver by bike on the 23rd and settles down on the couch to watch this year’s Christmas Day basketball games.
It’s not much, but it works for Steve.
At least, it did until this year when Eddie threw a literal wrench in his plans by coaxing him into coming over because his car wouldn’t start and he had to pick Wayne up from a last-minute shift at the factory.
Honestly, Steve should have known it was a trap the minute he mentioned Wayne working a Christmas morning shift. Wayne and him aren’t close by any means, but he knows there’s no way Eddie’s Uncle would work on Christmas day and leave him home alone. He actually has good parenting habits, unlike some people in his life.
Still, the phone call came at six in the morning and Steve was too dizzy with sleep to question his motives until he pulled up at the Munsons to find both cars parked in their usual spots.
He doesn’t even have time to make a quick escape because Eddie’s perched on the worn sofa outside watching him.
“Took you long enough,” Eddie teases, sauntering over to Steve.
“From the looks of it you didn’t even need my help,” Steve sasses back as he gets out of the car. “Isn’t that Wayne’s car?”
Eddie glances in the direction Steve points as if he isn’t aware of the pickup truck. “Huh, guess it is. Must have been a dream I was having or something.”
“Or, something. Right,” Steve snorts, shaking his head.
“Well,” Eddie claps his hands together startling Steve. “Since we don’t actually need your help and you’re already here, you should stay for breakfast.”
“That’s okay, Eddie. I don’t—“
“Ah, ah, ah,” Eddie tuts. “You’re not bailing on me now, Stevie. Wayne’s in there whipping up his famous Christmas morning breakfast. You haven’t lived until you’ve tried his French toast casserole.”
Arguing with Eddie is worse than arguing with Dustin, so Steve saves his energy and agrees to stay for breakfast. He apologizes profusely to Wayne for the intrusion, earning a gruff “nonsense boy, you’re always welcome here,” several times before Wayne finally swats him with the spatula and insists he shut up or else.
The casserole is as delicious as Eddie made it out to be. Not that Steve was skeptical of Wayne’s ability to cook. He’s been over for chili nights and eaten Wayne’s perfectly cooked and fresh fish after the fishing trip Eddie also tricked Steve into attending.
With a full belly and Eddie’s demand met, he’s planning on heading out when he spots the mountain of dishes in the small sink. His parents may not have raised him to be kind and thoughtful, but it's the man he’s become so he hikes up the sleeves on his maroon sweater and gets to work cleaning the dishes even though both Wayne and Eddie shout at him that there’s “no chores on Christmas.” When they both offer to help, Steve throws “no chores on Christmas” back in their faces and shoos them out of the kitchen with a smile and lots of gruff laughter.
He’s almost finished with the washing when the snow starts to fall. Not cute little snowflakes like in the movies. Oh no. Big ass sheets of snow dropping faster and faster as the seconds tick by.
Christ.
“Snowin’ mighty bad out there,” Wayne whistles, coming inside from the smoke break he insisted on taking outside. Kicking off his boots, he walks over to Steve and claps a hand on his shoulder. “‘Fraid you ain’t going anywhere.”
“I mean, it’s not that bad,” Steve says, throwing the dish towel over his other shoulder as he peers out the window. Who is he kidding? There’s no way the beemer is going to make it three feet in this weather let alone the two and a half miles to his house.
“You’ve got to be kidding, Steve!” Eddie shouts, from his spot on the couch. “If I let you leave in this weather and something happens, Henderson and Buckley will literally have my head on a stake. You’re staying and that’s final.”
He turns, expecting to find Wayne ready to object to Eddie’s theatrics but what he finds instead is the gruff man nodding his head in agreement.
“Guess m’staying then.”
Steve’s no stranger to surprises, but he’s downright perplexed when Wayne announces that it’s time to watch the Knicks game and Eddie doesn’t balk or go on some long-winded rant about how sports and Christmas don’t go together. Instead, he watches as Eddie nods and curls up on the sofa while Wayne settles in on the recliner.
“Hold on,” Steve says, waving his hands in the air to get their attention. “You, Eddie Munson, are going to watch basketball without complaining?”
“S’our Christmas tradition,” Wayne says.
“Unfortunately,” Eddie mumbles which earns him a pillow to the face curtesy of Wayne. “Hey!”
Wayne chuckles, shaking his head before shifting his attention back to Steve. “First Christmas I had Eddie, the boy was so upset after openin’ his gifts ‘cause he didn’t have nothin’ for me. Told him not to worry, just wanted him to watch the game with me. S’been a tradition ever since.”
Steve opens his mouth to say something when Eddie chimes in cutting him off.
“If you’re going to call me a hypocrite, save it.” “I wasn’t going to,” Steve says, holding his hands up in surrender. Crossing the room, he takes a seat on the sofa with Eddie, leaving the middle cushion open. “Actually, I was going to say watching the game is my Christmas tradition too.”
“Oh,” Eddie says. “Maybe it could be our tradition now. Wayne, me, you. I mean, I might not know what the hell is going on, but Wayne knows lots of fun stats he loves to share.” “Watch yourself, boy,” Wayne scolds with no bite. “S’you who never shuts up during the game. Always narrating made-up things while they play.”
“You know you love it!” Eddie defends, flipping Wayne off. After he turns his attention back to Steve, “M’sure watching with us will be better than watching alone, right?”
It’s presumptuous is what it is.
The thought of Steve coming over to the Munsons year after year to watch the basketball game. Cheer on teams and criticize plays with Wayne, listen to Eddie’s improv commentary. As if they want him crashing their traditions forever.
But something about the offer warms the usual Christmas day ache in his gut.
The truth is Steve doesn’t feel like a burden when he’s here with Wayne and Steve. He doesn’t feel like an awkward third wheel or like he’s a fly on the wall, listening to inside jokes and not understanding them.
He feels like an equal.
Like he belongs.
And what a wonderful feeling that is.
Maybe he won’t always spend Christmas with Wayne and Eddie and whatever NBA teams are playing, but today he will.
And he’s not going to deny himself this tradition next year or the year after that or any year Eddie and Wayne are eager to host him.
“Yeah, Eds,” Steve says pulling himself from his reprieve. “This is much better than watching the game alone.”

what do you think about formula e seemingly wanting to replace all of their street circuits in the calendar with permanent tracks? it feels like it’s starting to lose its street circuit racing identity already (and, that’s more of a personal opinion, but the permanent track racing feels like it has been much worse, it just doesn’t suit formula e cars at all)
it's very odd, at a point when F1 can't stop adding street tracks specifically to get hype venues and big-ticket promotional races, Formula E is hiding itself further and further away in permanent circuits.
they're sort of doing it for the same reasons, is the funny thing. little circuits will host FE much cheaper than the immense cost and logistics of building a street track and the lower the bill, the bigger likelihood a local business or tourist board will foot it. for F1, the cost of building a new, permanent facility is so staggering even oil states would likely baulk at it now. Yas Marina has cost over $1.3 billion so far, which Abu Dhabi can foot but isn't small change even for them and has led to other programmes being focussed around re-using and extracting value from the facility. (like the autonomous racing thing I was at earlier this year)
not that street tracks come much cheaper but you can build them faster, for an instant gratification on that investment.
F1 can boast massive figures for what a city stands to gain for hosting a grand prix. $449 million additional spending for Miami, for instance. Formula E... cannot throw around those numbers. it's not really a tourism draw and personnel are limited. so to go to a facility that desperately needs events, with an audience reliant primarily on local interest, means it can show an impact. FE claims that it brought an $84 million boost to the Hyderabad economy, for instance but a lot of that will have been in circuit construction.
so the financials add up. but also FE is supposed to be its own, distinct, world championship with a high profile not "F1 but it's electric and goes to lower grade circuits."
if a series does not have a profile of sufficient size, it has no hope of selling out venues. this happened to F1 - Silverstone didn't use to sell out at all, you could walk up to the gate and buy a ticket and I'm talking, like, 2016 not 1994. it took a long pathway of turning its visibility around to reverse that and yes they hit lightning in a bottle with DTS during lockdown but even things like social media had been a huge start in undoing a long, regressive slide into an ageing, shrinking fanbase.
FE cannot be small. manufacturers like Porsche are not in it for it to be small - yes, it is a useful test laboratory for regen but with long periods of homologation for powertrains, the marketing has to be a significant part of the draw. and you also need, reasonably, to be able to succeed: a manufacturer's board will not keep signing off on a racing budget, however small, if there are no or frustrating results on track. and no marketing function.
I know I've been saying this for years but it's still true: FE needs to keep developing itself, keep acting like a startup (since it is one) and continue to grow. ever since COVID it feels as though the championship just said "ah well, this is what we are now" and decided it wouldn't try to progress anything any further. it's a very odd lack of ambition for what could be such a hugely important series both to OEMs and fans.

Some quotes:
“No, no, Junia! You weren't supposed to think about it!” She slaps her cheeks. [internal narration] *It's better I not think about it. Besides, I'm stupid after all, so what would I even be able to figure out if I did? It won't do me any good.*
[internal narration] *Haah, what should I do?! They need backup, but I can't exactly fight…but there's no one else available to help!* She stands there almost in a panic, hesitating and second-guessing herself over and over again on wether to or not to run over. *But what could I even do?!* Then she hears that some of the people she knows are injured, and something clicks. She gives herself a light bonk on the head with her closed fist. “Ah— duh, I know first aid!”
“I-I would love to laugh at your joke, but to tell you the truth I am much too confused right now.”
She was born in the ocean surrounding the land known as the Queendom of Roses, in a cushy bay in the middle of the country. At least cushy compared to the rest of the open ocean, which was far more competetive when it came to survival. However, her mother was born in the Coral Sea. As a Parrotfish, her bright colors stood out against the deep blue, so though she was lucky to be born into a wealthy family which granted her some protections others didn't have, she was still forced to fight to survive. Her marriage to the heir of the Rondo family was what finally ensured her safety. Junia was born some years after, but her father died before he could meet her. Junia's mother then decided to move the two to the Queendom of Roses, where her mother ended up becoming a successful lawyer. Her plans for Junia, already fully formed at less than a year old, was for her to become an excellent student and find a good, stable career of her own. That way her mother could be sure she'd not only survive but further their family legacy.
When she got older and was supposed to start learning how to read, she tried her best, but could never make sense of it. The letters seemed to jump around and flow together, and she would sometimes need to spend 10 minutes just trying to read a poem. If she'd ever been taken to see a doctor about it, she would have been diagnosed with severe dyslexia, and also as being autistic, though the latter has nothing to do with her difficulty in learning to read and write. It took much more time and practice for her to be able to read than it took for her peers. Junia was also a very gullible person and tended to believe most things people said to her if they seemed somewhat plausible. She didn't doubt other people or consider that they could be lying, since the thought of someone operating in bad faith just never naturally crosses her mind. Some of the other children around her used this to pick on and even bully her. Because she had trouble reading both words and the room and was so gullible, everyone around her— including her mother— started calling her stupid. She started to believe it. As a child, people often remarked to her mother about how cute Junia was, and as she got older, they started calling her beautiful. Coupled with her reputation as being stupid, people whispered behind her back that her appearance was the only thing she had going for her. Her mother seemingly took this to heart and began raising Junia to be the perfect dim-witted, obedient housewife, since she hoped that at the very least maybe Junia could have a future as a trophy wife to fall back on if she couldn't get a good job with her own effort. Her mother told Junia that smiling made women beautiful, so Junia started smiling all the time. She told Junia that she was an ugly crier, so Junia stopped crying in front of others. She was never really able to make any friends, since her mother pressured her to spend as much time as possible studying. Whenever she tried to speak to other kids her age, she would always end up saying something that got her weird looks. Or she had trouble finding a gap in the conversation in which to speak, and since she had been taught that interrupting was rude, she ended up a quiet observer in the background enough times that she stopped wanting to try to talk to them. Instead, she grew very fond of animals, smaller fish with somewhat 'lesser' intelligence. For whatever reason, these fish always loved her, and so she would often spend time with them over her peers. These smaller fish who were sometimes sought out as prey returned the love she gave in full, and saw her for what she was, unlike other people who only saw what she lacked. People who saw how much time she spent with these creatures considered mere animals felt it only further confirmed their beliefs of her being an idiot. People began calling her 'Guppy' as an insulting nickname— akin to calling her a child and suggesting her intelligence was on par with one.
Junia had always loved to sing and play the harp, and wanted nothing more than to continue with her passions. She can actually read musical notes quite well, and has a really good musical memory, which means she can remember the lyrics even if she's only heard a song once or twice. However, her mother told her to stop, since she thought the songs Junia wrote and composed were too 'strange' or 'disturbing' or 'eccentric'. Being the obedient girl she was, Junia agreed to stop. She was even forbidden from humming in the house. As she became a little bit older, her mother became more and more concerned with finding a husband for her. This was when she started forbidding Junia from any and all self expression that she didn't approve of, which included her music, and Junia's love of an abundance of 'flower' patterns from the surface. She started preparing her and telling her about the things she would need to give up to be married. She must remain obedient and do exactly as her future husband says, in order to keep him happy. She must never do anything her future husband hasn't given her permission to do, she must never bother him with her worries, anxieties or insecurities, and never state her opinion on anything, in order to not risk disagreeing with him. She must be seen and never heard, unless spoken to, and her only value outside of having children is to make her husband look better by having a pretty, obedient wife. Basically, she must give up her entire personhood to be forever tied to someone she knows nothing about, and become little more than an accessory to someone else. Junia started to feel more and more as though she didn't want what her mother had decided for her and began dreading her future marriage, even though it wouldn't be until she was at least 18. But still, she said nothing. What could she even do about it anyway? She couldn't somehow convince her mother to allow her to not go through with it. If she decided to run away, she'd have nowhere to go, and would probably end up meeting with an even worse fate, since she's been so dependent on her mother her entire life that she has no idea how to survive on her own, having never been taught how. So, Junia started acting the way her mother told her an 'ideal woman' should.
Then one day, what she had dreaded seemed to come to pass. Her mother informed her that she had found a good suitor for her in the Coral Sea. And so they would be going there and staying for a month, so Junia could start getting used to the environment before meeting her husband-to-be. She was miserable every tail-flick of the way, and felt like she was being suffocated. She had to start to grapple with the fact that she would never be able to sing again. So the first chance she got, she snuck off into an empty area, bringing her harp with her, and started to sing a series of songs she'd been working on for years— something like her life's work. Her mother always said they were 'too creepy' so she knew she'd never get the chance to again. Unbeknownst to her, while she was singing song after song, she had a secret audience of three…
(They knew who she was. The Rondo family was quite well-known, at least in this part of the Coral Sea, and who would the Octomer be if he didn't do his research? They had also heard the widow and daughter of the previous head of the Rondo family were coming back to the Coral Sea after 18 years in order for said daughter to be politically married-off. Azul didn't take much note of it— at least not until the moment he happened upon her; tweets following behind after he'd been gone for a bit too long. The two first things that struck him were her bright tail and gorgeous singing voice. The ones that came later was her great conventual beauty, and the passion she seemed to have for each song she performed. Yet there was also a sadness reflected on her face every time she finished a song. He saw the facts:
These songs were quite…unconventional, or at least so a family as traditional as the Rondos and whatever company they were trying to marry into would believe.
She was here to be married, and did not seek very happy about it.
She seemed even more sad after finishing each song or having to go back for the day, suggesting she felt this was something of a swan-song to her love of music.
She was a girl with a reputation for being gullible, naïve; easily deceived. He smelled blood in the water and had Thaumarks in his eyes. He could use this. The tweels just snickered quietly behind him, matching his smirk.)
One day during her singing, when she had just finished a song, she heard a whistle, and clapping. Hands flying up to cover her mouth to cover not only a surprised squeal, but also the fact that whoever made that sound had heard her singing! She saw two eel mer slithering out of some nearby seaweed. They said they'd been listening to her sing, and wanted to keep hearing the story. Her eyes lit up with the stars ocean-residents never saw, and they knew it wouldn't be hard for Azul to convince her. They introduced themselves as 'Jade' and 'Floyd'— and only laughed or smiled each time she got their names mixed up. The louder one of the two even burst out laughing when she called him something WAY off the mark. He thought it was hilarious she was so bad with names, even though they'd started coming to listen to her sing every day.
There was something different about her when she had an audience. She was absolutely exuberant, and somehow put even more passion, emotion and effort into each and every song she sang. They thought she was interesting. She was clumsy, shockingly observant, skilled with her hands, oblivious, had 'etiquette school' written all over her and said the strangest things sometimes. She was like an open book— but one they couldn't predict. Without knowing it, she'd got their mental seal of approval.
As the day on which she would meet her future husband— and thus be forever trapped in a life she didn't want— was drawing near, she told her unexpected friends a bit about it. They obviously already knew thanks to Azul, but the confirmation was what made the three of them decide amongst themselves that it was time: she'd be taken to see Azul, and would most likely end up striking a deal with him.
Jade and Floyd had talked to Azul about what she was like before. Floyd often went on about 'Parrotfishie is so fun~!' and even Jade would smile and agree 'She certainly is interesting.' Azul, for his part, while not surprised at Floyd's opinion, was more startled that Jade agreed, given the latter often kept his feelings much closer to his chest. Everything they'd told him had him already prepared for her being a bit eccentric. But he was still surprised by her when he actually met her. She did say the strangest things sometimes. But she had this charm that always made her able to completely get away with it, cocking her head to the side in confusion, a surprised expression on her face when one of them laughed, asking with a confused, somewhat shocked voice if she'd said something weird. There was something comfortable about her presence, which he yet-again thought could be a great asset to them, and to his business.
When she was told that he was this 'sea witch' she'd sometimes heard whispers of, even back in the waters of the Queendom of Roses, she wasn't scared. She was surprised, even shocked, sure, but not scared. In fact, she seemed amazed, asking if it was true that he was really that good at granting wishes, saying that he was amazing with an expression of genuine awe.
And when it came time for the actual deal, she didn't try to haggle or negotiate the terms of the contract— she didn't even read it! It wasn't until much later that he would learn she couldn't read. Regardless, even knowing it might be dangerous, she had just laid everything she had in his hands, and was happy to do so, so long as she was still allowed to sing.
And thus, the contract was signed, and Junia Rondo never met her husband-to-be.
After signing her contract with Azul, a letter was sent to her mother. The specifics aren't important because Azul left a TL;DR on the first page in big, bold letters saying:
[The voice of Junia Rondo— and by extension Junia Rondo herself— is now the legal property of Azul Ashengrotto.]
And as Junia was 18 already, there was nothing the authorities could do about it.
She knew her mother was probably furious. But for once, she didn't care. She was too happy to be free.
Next thing she knew she went with Azul, Jade and Floyd to a sort of 'human boot camp' where, after drinking a transformation potion for the first time, they would be trained on how to live on land. They all struggled with the whole 'having legs' thing— none so more than Junia. It seems her clumsiness with everything but her fingers had come back in full force and even worsened now that she had legs. She couldn't even always manage to calibrate her own tail, so it was no surprise, really, that it took her almost twice as long as the other three to learn to use her legs effectively enough to not fall over. Well…fall over less. Baby steps. And she always had someone there to catch her. Though Azul, being used to eight limbs, also struggled more than the tweels. So at first when she stumbled into him, he stumbled as well, ending with them in a heap on the floor.
After completing their boot camp, Junia with the lowest marks— barely passing, but somehow good enough!— the four of them were enrolled into 'Night Raven College', a very prestigious magic school. Junia was a little worried at first about how she'd even get in, knowing it was an all-boys' school— would she have to crossdress? She wasn't super happy with the idea but she would do it if she had to! But then she just watched Azul hand over a big stack of Thaumarks to the Headmage and that was that. 'Oh.' was all she said, surprised it was really that easy.
At NRC:
Among the four of them in the Octavinelle Quartet, Junia was the one who took the longest to acclimate to walking on legs as opposed to swimming with a tail. In fact, even into her second year, she still tripped quite often. And so, Azul mostly had her working taking orders and showing people their seats. Because for as cute as her clumsiness could be, having to constantly replace plates and glasses she'd dropped and shattered was really draining his budget for the Mostro Lounge.
On Saturdays and Sundays, Junia would do almost nothing but sing at the Mostro Lounge. And on Sunday nights, she was allowed to sing songs she herself had written— ones that were way more experimental, intent to tell a story rather than just be a nice background song. And these nights became massive hits! A lot of people would come to watch just to see the next part of the story! And of course Azul capitalized on this, offering special offers on Sunday nights that lead to Mostro Lounge's business going up a lot!
She feels incredibly grateful to Azul for giving her a chance to not only share her music with others, but also for taking her with him to NRC despite the fact female students aren't typically allowed. She's gotten to meet so many different kinds of people there! And at a school with so many strange people, she feels right at home, instead of like the misfit she always felt like she was at home. And being away from her mother, she feels happier and more confident than ever. She's slowly starting to find out about strengths of hers that aren't just how 'pretty' she is.
But...she does also still feel very self-conscious of how 'stupid' she feels like she is. She had to get Azul's help in order to have the staff agree to a deal where she could give her exams orally instead of written on paper (bribes. he bribed them) and she is also the only student for whom this is the case. She always has to study alongside someone else because she's just not really capable of taking down notes since she's illiterate. When she does get that help, of someone explaining it to her, she understands it pretty ok eventually, but she still feels self-conscious that she needs that help in the first place. She kinda dreads going to class because of it.
The specific terms of her and Azul's contract were that Azul now owns her voice in exchange for her being able to still use it, and working for him for as long as the contract is in effect. That means not only singing at the lounge, but also working as a waitress, and— since Junia has always been seen as beautiful and attractive by those around her— he started using that to have her advertise the lounge and any and all new menu items right away. All without pay. But she would be allowed to eat 3 meals from the lounge for free a day— she'll be working for him, so he certainly can't have her be starving!
Since it's a very feminine voice, he couldn't really use it himself without it clashing with his appearance and normal speaking voice, not to mention he also already has Prince Rielle's pretty singing voice. But Rielle's voice can't do Soprano very well, just because that's not its range. So that's one of the reasons he lets her keep use of her voice. And he will admit that her natural charisma— and the charm her obvious, genuine passion for music gives all of her performances— certainly lets her make use of her song voice to greater effect than if he'd given it to someone else.
Junia is, as expected, great friends with Jade, Floyd and Azul.
She's often a bit startled and confused when Floyd drags her along to go follow his whims and do whatever he wants, but once her mind catches up she often ends up having a lot of fun. And through him she's also slowly starting to learn it's ok to prioritize things she wants to do over what she's been told to do. Azul is not always happy about Floyd making off with his best advertiser, but he never seriously punishes them harsher than giving them an extra shift to make up for the one they missed.
Despite being in the Pop Music Club, she sometimes goes with Jade on his hikes in the mountains. It's also a bit of plus for her since she gets to see more kinds of flowers! And birds, and other critters. She also always tries out Jade's new mushroom dishes, to Azul and Floyd's utter confusion and bafflement, and Jade's delight.
And as stated before, she has a lot of respect for Azul, and really admires him. And the two understand each other pretty well, since she was also bullied as a child, albeit less harshly than he was. She's also very quick to compliment him and tell him her positive opinions of him. He's had her tone it down whilst among others, since he doesn't want to end up blushing hard enough that his reputation is put in jeapordy, which she's gladly agreed to, thinking his shyness was actually really cute.
She's basically best friends with Cater, Lilia and Kalim as well, since the four of them are the only members of the Pop Music Club. She is actually often the only reason they get any kind of music practicing done at all. She also composes all the 'band's songs, since the others don't mind trying out something that isn't just an actual pop song cover now and then, and it's yet another way in which she gets to play her songs! Her playing piano well easily translated into keyboard, and she's also a prominent vocalist, but also loves being able to sing as a back-up.

so i’ve been thinking
i know, dangerous
in all honesty, what is our cast of characters supposed to do about Fukuchi..?
i’ve already made my rant analysis (that you can read here if you’re interested) about how Fukuchi is really just an old man with a time traveling stabby stick that makes for a horrible OP villain. up until now, when presented with such a crisis, either soukoku or shin soukoku will partner up and defeat the big bad… or at least they had weaknesses, like Dostoy not anticipating Dazai was going to find him at the end of the cannibalism arc, or how most of his henchmen and underlings were eventually foiled or defeated to come to a satisfying conclusion that set us up for the next story beat. even Ranpo has his weaknesses, and his whole character is centered around knowing everything
well, we know for a fact that that’s not going to happen this time considering our usual duos and their friends are having some technical difficulties at the moment...
so that makes me think…
who is left to fight at this point..?
obviously we have Fukuzawa, who is currently fighting, and Atsushi is... around. but, the character on my mind the most at this point is Mori, since he’s been missing for quite a long time now. this by itself isn’t a big deal considering side characters often go literal years without any story time. however, this becomes a bit more interesting considering what’s happening to the rest of the Mafia and the world right now in bsd
so, i’m going to analyze some pieces that might be added to this 4d chess board of a story line. including more than just Mori. however, i’ll be talking about Mori quite a bit in this post, like almost half of it actually, so if you don’t feel like reading this, that’s fine
🔺minor spoiler warning for chapters 30/31, 50, and 84, and Dead Apple and Stormbringer. also spoilers for basically the entire current arc up to the most recent chapter as of writing this (ch 105) since i talk about most of the main events/situations🔻
I’ll start by taking a moment to talk about the European android everyone knows and loves(?) from Stormbringer…
Adam Frankenstein
Ah yes, the android, the myth, the legend, and the being that made me cringe so hard i got face cramps the first time I read him chewing and swallowing multiple pieces of gum like candy. That Adam.
We never see him or even hear of him in any other part of the story, including the main manga. He’s kind of just in Stormbringer and never brought up again, supposedly living somewhere in Europe doing android detective things. We haven’t even gotten a hint or any foreshadowing that he might show up in the main story, either. The reasons I think he may show up now are kind of simple to be honest.
He’s an android. That’s it. He’s, y’know, not made of flesh… And he doesn’t have blood.
What makes blood important right now? The vampires. Considering we know that Bram can transform a human, alive or otherwise, into one of his minions by ingesting their blood, we can probably assume that this is how it works for the other vampires as well. Therefore, Adam is at a major advantage against such an enemy since 1. his body is made of metal that couldn’t be damaged by Piano Man’s wire guillotine or regular bullets and survived the heat of Chuuya’s first Corruption with minimal damage, and 2. he doesn’t have blood. He does have this blue substance that I assume acts something like oil or fuel for his body, but since he’s most definitely not human, this doesn’t count as blood for him. He can’t be turned into a vampire. I don’t even think Fyodor could hack him or put a virus into his system, like he did to the Moby Dick (which is technically an ability that got turned into a mechanical ship). If anything, the vampires would just break their fangs trying to bite into his neck.
Since he’s in Europe, which is where our two jail kings and their entourage are, it’s more likely that Adam will appear in the jail scene with Dazai and Dostoy. I’d honestly be happy to see this because it would be interesting to see how he and Chuuya would interact now after so many years apart if Chuuya is ever cured of his, y’know, vampirism. Since he most definitely isn’t going to just die. It would also introduce a new character for people who haven’t read Stormbringer, which could reignite interest in this god forsaken arc for those of us who have given up on getting more than a few cliffhangers and a reminder that Fukuchi sucks every new chapter (trust me, I feel you).
Moving on to another semi-short analysis for a character we haven’t seen outside of light novels. And the mildly disappointing adaption of one said novel.
Shirase Buichirou
Another character who is also in Europe, specifically London, is Shirase. At the end of Stormbringer, he and Chuuya parted ways on somewhat good terms when Shirase heard of a group called the Stray Sheep in Europe, which he joined. Nothing has been heard of him since, similar to Adam. The only reasons I bring him up here is that 1. he’s in Europe, same as Adam and the jail kings, and 2. he is also connected to Chuuya (and is familiar with Dazai, to some degree, but this isn’t important).
I’m hesitant to say he’ll appear in the story considering we truly have no idea what the state of the BSD world is right now. Japan is overrun with vampires, and there’s probably nobody left there who hasn’t been bitten unless they’re a major character in the story (that hasn’t already been bitten). We know that the vampires have been moving out by disguising themselves with sunglasses and stuff to hide their eyes and complexion and getting on planes. Where those planes went to, we only know it’s somewhere overseas. There’s also mentions of fictional countries that only exist within the BSD world, similar to Kenji’s home town being a fictional one from a novel written by the irl Kenji. Fukuchi mentions he “needs to control half the nations’ armies” in order to carry out whatever plan he has, and it’s probably safe to say this has already come to fruition since he threatened to set the vampire army in motion if One Order wasn’t unlocked.
The likelihood of a character like Shirase appearing without being a vampire is much, much lower than Adam, and for more reasons than just because he’s a regular human. Shirase has no ability and is not named after an author or any other real-life person (that I know of), therefore it’s very unlikely he’ll be revealed to have one unless he wields an ability weapon like Fukuchi’s sword. Which is also highly unlikely. Given these conditions, he’s probably already been turned into a vampire along with the rest of the organization he joined. Another possibility for his inclusion is just to be killed off (by, perhaps, a vampire Chuuya). Or he might make a joint appearance with Adam, but I still doubt he’ll be a major character unless he’s there to die to further the plot.
Not to mention Asagiri has mentioned many times that Chuuya’s story is a long one that’s full of hardships, so perhaps one of those hardships may just be having to kill an old friend.
Sorry Shirase fans, but that’s just my thoughts on the matter.
From here on, I’ll be discussing Mori and how he’s appeared and disappeared throughout major story arcs and how he’s interacted with the ADA since the cannibalism arc. I know he’s apparently a controversial character to talk about because of his ability and the comments he makes about underage girls and whatever, so if you don’t feel like reading this part, that’s fine.
In case you’re interested in another character appearance, I have added a few honorary mentions at the bottom of this post.
Mori Ougai
Port Mafia Boss. Underground doctor. Ex-military doctor. A third of the Tripartite Framework. And one half of the first version of soukoku before it was known as soukoku.
His titles honestly don’t mean much to me as the only thing he continuously claims to motivate him is his position as the Boss, which is reasonable as his entire livelihood is dependent on the organization and its success. He fills his role well as a clear villain character with extremely black if not straight up non-existent morals, which we get plenty of examples of during the Dark Era, the Guild arc, and even the Cannibalism arc. The currently arc also proves that he’s both willing to provide some aid to the ADA, as well as make manipulative requests of them despite the horrible position they’re in currently for his own potential benefit. He is truly, wholeheartedly, an evil character.
What I want to focus on the most is his hand in moving the pieces on the chess board, so to speak. We know that Dazai and Dostoy are both sitting on the board, presumably in control of every piece, but is that really true? Remember, Dazai is only the way he is because Mori manipulated and taught him to be that way, which we can see from the parallels in how they act when making threats or doing something morally wrong. The comparison between Dazai’s attitude and Mori’s in chapter 30 is telling enough, seeing that Mori’s expression when he murdered the previous Boss 8 years ago (as well as when he talks with Hirotsu in this chapter) is almost identical to the one Dazai makes as he says his thinly veiled threat to do the same to Mori. The anime makes these expressions even more similar than they are in the manga, but I take everything studio bones does with a heavy grain of salt at this point… And not just with BSD
The last time we saw Mori was when he was mentioned in chapter 91 as the liaison who informed Tanizaki and Kenji that it was time to come out of hiding. He appeared normal and not infected by the vampire virus, which isn’t much of a surprise to me. Stormbringer showed that he’s more than capable of avoiding death, and by proxy, avoiding the master assassin Verlaine. It wouldn’t be much of a stretch to assume he was able to avoid the hive mind army of vampires that are just regular soldiers, and most of the ability users that have been infected are mafioso who Mori is very familiar with. However, whether or not he’ll intervene in the prison arc is not what I plan to discuss here.
The previous two characters would only make sense to appear in the prison because of their relationship to Chuuya and their location. Mori is Chuuya’s Boss, sure, and sure he probably wants to keep Dazai alive and on his radar, but Mori is still in Japan and knows that Meursault isn’t a place to be taken lightly.
No, I think Mori is about to become a player in the battle against Fukuchi.
My evidence isn’t necessarily anything concrete or even any foreshadowing, such as with chapter 84 when it was pretty obvious that Akutagawa was going to show up to aid Atsushi when he was saying he was all alone, or back in chapter 31 where it was obvious that soukoku was going to reunite for a big fight.
Fukuzawa, so far, has been the only person capable of standing up against Fukuchi alone and not being beaten within seconds (except Tachihara, but, well… yknow). So this alone is interesting to me because Fukuzawa is one of the strongest fighters in the ADA, and arguably one of the strongest fighters in the entire story considering his ability has nothing to do with his raw swordsmanship and martial arts skills. Keeping that small fact in mind, I want to jog your memory of the battle that happened in chapter 50 between Fukuzawa and Mori. Both of them are afflicted with the cannibalism virus, which is probably causing them to feel horrible with symptoms, but they still face off in a 1v1 that looks a little unfair. Mori has his ability, Elise, that does whatever he tells it to do and is basically a highly skilled and deadly combat ability. Fukuzawa, while still an ability user, only has his sword and his physical talents. His ability is a support ability that works on his subordinates, he can’t use it to fight like Mori or Fukuchi. However, he still holds his ground extremely well and even destroys Elise within minutes if not seconds of the fight starting, and Fukuzawa deals the fatal blow to Mori first. Even though Mori also severely wounds Fukuzawa just seconds later, it’s more important that this fight showed us that they are practically equal in combat skill. Not to mention Natsume makes an appearance to tell the two of them to stop fighting since both of their organizations need to survive to uphold the Tripartite Framework, which is something they both agree to disagree on basically.
There’s also the events of Dead Apple where, while under the effects of Shibusawa’s fog, Mori and Fukuzawa are fighting their own abilities and struggling. However, when they meet and switch opponents, they easily take down the other’s ability. They even share a few lines of dialogue that shows they’re familiar with each other’s fighting styles and tricks, similar to their explosive meeting in chapter 30 during the Guild Arc.
Now let’s look at the situation Fukuzawa is in right now. His subordinates are in all danger, and the only one that could potentially be coming to his aid is Atsushi, which is a possibility that I’ll mention at the end of this post. However, doesn’t this setup of our protagonists in a life-or-death situation with no help in sight, seem a little familiar to you?
Dazai was surrounded by soldiers in chapter 31 when Chuuya arrived to (begrudgingly) help him out, on Mori’s orders. Dazai was literally dead in Dead Apple when Chuuya showed up to punch him in the face (deserved) to save him.
Atsushi rarely wins on his own, but with Akutagawa’s help and the singularity created by their combined abilities, they’re able to defeat almost any enemy. And when Atsushi was desperate for help in chapter 84, Akutagawa arrived, even if it was on Dazai’s orders.
Fukuzawa is currently losing the fight against the OP time traveling stabby stick wielding grandpa, putting him in a dire situation of trying to save the ADA while not dying in the process. So, will Mori come out from wherever he’s hiding to provide aid to Fukuzawa? Will zenki soukoku come back and parallel the other soukoku’s reuniting/working together to defeat the big bad? It’s hard to say, honestly, but I do believe it’s entirely possible considering Mori has been strangely missing in the story after agreeing to aid the ADA. Well, the ADA needs aid. Badly. And it’s about time they finally got some.
I think Fukuzawa and Mori have the potential to defeat Fukuchi together considering their both equal in strength, so perhaps putting their finely tuned skills together is what will prove to be our deus ex machina that defeats Fukuchi’s self-induced deus ex machinas that are honestly getting pretty damn tiring at this point.
There’s also the fact that Mori had originally agreed to aid the ADA on the condition that one of their members transfers to the Mafia, so perhaps Mori showing up to aid Fukuzawa will be a manipulation tactic to force them to agree to let him choose who he wants to join, since he only actually wants Yosano out of the deal. However, it’s possible that maybe Tanizaki will be the one to change organizations? He did offer to go in Yosano’s stead in chapter 65 when the deal was originally proposed by Mori, who straight up lied about what Fukuzawa told him over the phone that the one person Mori couldn’t choose was Yosano. Mori is a very, very smart man, so he probably knows that if he forces the ADA into enough of a corner under the guise of helping them, he can get what he wants out of them as well. He could also allow the majority/some of the ADA members to die or come close to force Yosano to heal them and work for him one way or another, since we saw in her backstory in the military that Mori isn’t above shooting someone to make Yosano heal them because now they’re “close to death”. He most likely hasn’t changed much in those ways over the years, so I’m expecting to see some extreme manipulation taking place on his part if he does come back into the story.
Honorable mentions that came to mind as I was working to gather potential suspects:
Atsushi
He’s there, kind of, I guess. So much of the arc recently has been like 2 pages of one perspective before changing to the next that I’m not even sure if he’s still the main protagonist anymore. /j
Since he’s also at the airport where this whole *gestures wildly* thing is happening between the two Fuku’s, it would make sense that he at least shows up during the fight. We also know he’s actively looking for Fukuzawa because he can’t decide on what to do next now that he knows what the DOA is after.
The only way I see Atsushi being implemented in the battle is if he gets super upset or angry over seeing all his friends and coworkers in serious trouble, and either Fukuzawa releases his ability (if that’s even possible) from Atsushi and allows him to use the full power of the White Tiger to fight Fukuchi, which could potentially defeat the time-traveling sword since the Tiger’s claws can cut through abilities. The other option is he goes feral? I don’t really know to be honest. Maybe he just gets his ass beat again by Fukuchi. Who knows. I’ll just be over here preparing the party poppers for Kunikida’s promotion I guess.
Verlaine
Why? For fun.
He’s never appeared in the main story line since he lives in the Port Mafia’s basement basically. But considering the Mafia kinda went up in flames (or vampires, I guess) it’s possible he’s on the move now. Whether he’d appear in the jail, to save Chuuya, or appear at the airport, potentially under Mori’s orders, I honestly don’t know. But, since he’s part of the Mafia and another character we haven’t seen, and the cover of volume 22 as well as other official artwork has been featuring several Stormbringer and Sheep references, some people believe we might be seeing someone from that cast of characters in an upcoming chapter. But honestly I think they might be on as much copium as I am…
It would be funny to see Verlaine show up and just crush Fukuchi in like 3 seconds while the rest of the protagonists couldn’t defeat him though.
Ango?
We see Ango last in chapter 95 when it’s revealed he’s the one that demanded a seal be put on One Order, at Dazai’s request as part of his plan to counter Dostoy. He hasn’t been a big player in this arc beyond being the coordinator early on for the ADA’s moves, but since they all were reunited and came up with their own plans, he’s been more active as just a background character acting on the messages from Dazai. But, since he is the final piece of the Tripartite Framework, I thought I’d just mention him here as well. Natsume clearly wants the three organizations to work together, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Dazai has also given Ango a message or plan to relay to Mori. I don’t think he’ll ever be a super big part of the current events, though, just more of the background coordinator.
The Guild?
We kind of see them and then we don’t. We know Fitzgerald wants to work with whoever is winning, which as far as we know, he thinks is going to be the ADA. He was giving them aid in exchange for Yosano healing Mitchell, but we don’t really see anything come after this agreement is made? Atsushi and Kyouka get into one ambulance with Mitchell inside to bring her to Yosano, and at the same time, Yosano (along with Tanizaki and Kenji) are attacked by the government who set up their own trap unknown to Fitzgerald and Atsushi. We know Fitzgerald didn’t set them up because in the first few pages after we see the government attacking, we see Fitzgerald explaining why he didn’t go with the 74 plans Alcott prepared that included selling out the Agency’s location. Technically, it only happened because Tachihara is a Hunting Dog, so he betrayed the location of the meeting since Mori sent him and the other Black Lizard captains for security, and Tachihara is using his metal manipulation to pretend as if there’s an ability user attacking them with the government so they have to retreat after Kenji is severely injured. He’s also there to prevent Atsushi from reuniting with Yosano just a few minutes later. Which is truly impressive since he’s technically fighting himself the entire time? Wow is that symbolism of him as a character if I’ve ever seen it, that’s for sure. Not to mention he also stabs himself with Gin’s knife, just *chefs kiss* of a character I really wish he wasn’t killed/vampire-d whatever the fuck happened because he deserved so much better. But anyway, we never see the Guild again after this. So we have no idea what they’re currently doing, nor have we seen the other branch of the “Guild” that Steinbeck created at the end of the Guild arc since the end of that arc. So, I doubt they’ll come back.
The Clock Tower?
They’d have jurisdiction over Meursault, but it’s hard to say if they’ll step in. They haven’t been a part of the story at all beside Agatha’s little cameo from chapter 12. On a side note, I believe Agatha’s ability will be something along the lines of causing death in accordance to the lines in the poem “Ten Little Soldiers” (obviously I’m not putting the original name here) since her ability is named after the mystery novel And Then There Were None that’s about ten people dying on an island of various means that follow the reasons in the rhyme of the poem. It’s quite interesting, actually. But back to my main point, I don’t really see why they would suddenly come into the story now. If anything, they might appear if Fukuchi decides to try and use his vampire army against the governments of the world and create a world-wide coup d’etat with One Order.
Is this a copium-driven fever dream of a hope to have? Haha, fuck yeah it is! But I’ll let the copium win today if it means having at least a little hope that Fukuchi’s arc of shitty OP-ness will come to an end soon. Please. Asagiri I’m begging. I’m on my knees. Just PLEASE
Anyways, that's my thoughts on the matter. This theory was a little out there and not really based on too much evidence, but I still felt the need to write up this post, or else the brainrot might actually get my final braincell and it'd be all downhill from there.
As always, I hope you enjoyed, and thanks for reading. If you have your own idea of what you think will be the thing to defeat Fukuchi, feel free to say it in the comments or send a message to my Inbox on my profile. We can cope theorize together :)
**i just finished editing this oh my god this is so long i’m sorry i just had a lot of brainrot about this and i’m desperately awaiting whatever is going to end Fukuchi to the point i want to do it myself

Okay so basically what happened um. I don't know how but it did. So I wanted to help Astarion. But I clicked the wrong thing. And I pushed him off the boat. And he died.

If there's one thing about me it's that I'll accidentally murder my favourite vampires

The fact the all-valley drama is about mats and the new blue and gold won. Daniel stay with these people. Their drama is very normal.
Johnny like drunk crying about Daniel becoming Robby's father and is just like 'we're all going to die' is actually kind of funny of a dramatic response. I mean he didn't do a one up this time. He just sort of got sad.
No mercy is a great pump up for tournament, but also a terrible idea.
Johnny is giving this speech in the lobby. Which...is full of other people.
Daniel always being known as the former champ always confused me as to why they always recognize him but never Johnny who also won twice, but then I realized Daniel's on the committee, they see him everywhere, and he's a sponsor for the tournament. He has, dare I say, Terry level influence here. (though he didn't win on banning Johnny)
If they did poster banners of previous winners including Daniel's 84 win, would Johnny's wins be up there and Daniel's 85th?
Granata Hills: All-Star Karate (I think there was an all-star earlier, maybe that van that Johnny stood on with the eagle?) Ah just checked it's the all star kids academy which could be karate but could be something else. It's the eagle club before after school?
Topanga karate and their blue gi's
Sponsors:
How did Robby decide to be a part of this tournament? He wasn't training with Daniel about it? Like he might know about it because of his dad but how else would he know about it? Also why'd they let him fight unaffiliated? Did he use his money from working at LaRusso auto to sign up and buy his gi? That's a lot of work he put into.
You would think everyone would know about the crane kick and how to defend against it. It's interesting that Miguel got that kick in.
Bert not getting a nickname but being just bert. He's so tiny out there.
Who taught Robby the rules?
Xander's speech is very Terry Silver speech like.
I suppose Johnny couldn't just tell Hawk that that's his son without worrying that it'd throw him off his game, but still.
Hawk yelling Hawk like he's a pokemon or something is hilarious.
I also get why the ref said hey back on your side, but Johnny could've said 'that's my son'.
Hawk shouldn't have done that either. Like Hawk snaps at Johnny for yelling at him for that kick to the shoulder while Robby's back was turned, but still, he got himself disqualified. Like Johnny's anger should make sense to Hawk for that, him running to Robby's side probably didn't make sense, but being mad that Hawk got disqualified, yes.
I get that Robby is upset with his dad for not being there for 16 years, but I don't understand why Robby went from showing up ready to move in with Johnny to...this.
Daniel taking back his "johnny is a monster" and pinning the worst teacher award on Kreese, which I guess means he thinks Kreese is worse then Terry?
I just realized the parallel between Miguel accidentally hitting Sam when trying to hit Robby and Johnny accidentally hitting Daniel when trying to hit Barnes.
Sam must know at this point after her dad being a sad lump on the couch with her that Robby is Johnny's son, why didn't she say that to Miguel?
"I'm going to have to face him sooner or later it might as well be today" is that Miguel (who he really doesn't ever have to interact with) or Johnny who he literally isn't facing during this fight and instead pushed away?
"Someone needs to be there for him" as if Johnny hasn't been trying and Daniel is unaware.
Miguel is sure aiming for that shoulder, which strategically makes sense but is also so unsportsmanlike.
The one handed kick is pretty cool.
the horror strings when Miguel tells Johnny no mercy and he realizes oh shit maybe I shouldn't have taught them that.
Miguel just grabs Johnny who tries to go to Robby, spins him and shoves him into their cobra group in excitement. And it's interesting how excited all the cobras are that they don't realize oh shit we might've seriously maimed this kid and why does our sensei keep worrying and trying to rush to his side?
Miguel dedicating his win to Johnny is sweet.
Johnny does apologize to Robby.
Demetri: team sports are gangs. (In this case he isn't quite wrong, but still)
Robby and his second place trophy. He also talks about his dad in not a mad way. Like hey maybe my dad's dream will be realized now, which is a good thing and he's smiling a little but then Daniel has to say "over my dead body" and it's like Daniel, come on. You said you didn't want to get between Robby and his dad, it could've ended here.
Daniel possibly kidnapping Robby take 2, Robby's literally nervously joking "is this where you bury your dead bodies or something?"
Pretty sure that Buddha statue needs to be higher then where it is at foot level.
I think Johnny's drinking Jim Bean?
Kreese's dark western music and standing in the dark at the entrance. How did he find out anyway?

182 Days of TPN - Day 84
Chapter 84: “The Brakes”
If the poachers did provide poison darts for the kids only to have the poison be ineffective against said poachers, then that’s kinda hilarious and clever in an underhanded way to raise the kid’s hopes in defeating them.
Putting himself in harms way once again to safeguard others. I love this recklessly brave fool to death.
How Emma agrees to the plan without question even though it’ll leave her with no certain backup against Leuvis. Also love how this shows the level of trust Oliver has in Emma to stall Leuvis on her own.
Sigh.. my boy did he best.
I think of the four premium farms so often that I forget there are a couple hundred factory farms out there as well, so reading that Bayon had an influence in so many of them kinda threw me off at first. Young Leuvis also looks a bit silly to me. (if you wanna know how stupid I am I just thought “demons shouldn’t have hair, it looks so weird, thankfully we don’t see it often” when Bayon is literally standing right there. but he looks okay.)
Sir, I do believe you’re becoming obsessed. No wonder the present day hunts at GP happen every three days now.
This dude is a literal teenager here and I can’t get over how prim and proper he looks.
I also forget (surprise surprise) that GP has only been an actual hunting ground since Peter interfered, so if you ever wanted another reason to hate this boy, then he’s mainly responsible for all those lives lost over those fifteen years thanks to his brilliant idea of letting Bayon & the others fulfill their hunting fantasies.
I’m mildly impressed with how Oliver continues to shoot at Bayon midair after he gets kicked back. Hardly did any damage but he’s keeping his focus regardless.
I’m glad he realized the spear was a diversion, but did ya have to run into danger like this?? Couldn’t you have just shot at Bayon’s hand instead?
But nooo, we had to be the big, self-sacrificing hero and cause everyone (me included) to worry, right??
Favorite panel/moment:
Ah Zack, my beloved flashback action king. I’m falling in love with this boy all over again. He deserves better than wherever I placed him in my top ten for real.

At time of posting 30 Dec 11.30pm KST: 29K views, 153 comments (will translate non-repetitive comments)1. How old are you? It seem like I am the only one getting old. I think she is in her mid-30s. 2. Goddess 6. Heol, you are so pretty today 8. She is a princess 9. (replied to 1st comment): I think she is 33? 10. She has always been pretty, but..!!! 14. Today’s hair and makeup is all pretty 16. Wow, if your facial features are like this in the photos, how is it like in real life 17. Is that a ribbon at your back that is visible below your elbows? YoonA is always prettyㅜㅜ 21. Her dress is so puffy 23. Wow it’s like her golden days again!! Her styling (hair, makeup, coordinates) team has been weird for some time, but it seems like they are back on track 35. Cute 39. YoonA has luxurious facial features, but maybe she has innocent vibes too, so she gives off both luxurious and innocent vibes, it is amazing. 42. The overall styling today is neat. She is pretty every time, but she is pretty today too. ㅋㅋ 44. Today’s makeup style suits YoonA very well, it feels pure and vivid. 45. Was there feedback (given to her styling team)? Her hair and makeup stylists finally come back to senses. ㅠㅠㅠㅠIt’s a princess 94. The styling team got a lot better. It was the worst when she attended Blue Dragon Film Awards (last month)
103. Today’s makeup is really vibrant and pretty. Especially on the eyebrows. Although YoonA has always been pretty. 104. Really Yoongphrodite, she doesn’t even age for real... 107. I thought she is an angel 111. So freaking pretty, so freaking goddess. So beautiful 112. Compared to heavy makeup, YoonA is prettier with simple makeupㅠㅠㅠShe is a wall (that no one can overcome) idol ㅠㅠㅠ 113. Wow, the prettiest YoonA I have seen recently. 122. YoonA’s goddess hairstyle is the best, so pretty 129. Oh my, really so pretty that I can’t help but gasp. It’s so crazy, really really crazy 136. Ha.. so pretty that it makes one giddy 137. I think the public debate (last month) has definitely made a difference 149. Wow, she has consistently been so pretty without any ups or down.

A letter with some pictures she's sneakily taken of her and the rest of the members and him and more pocket money for snacks it's not a joke any more she wants to make sure he can treat himself.
It's been 84 years since I've last seen you. How are you? Any gray hairs? You're probably full of them. I know I am. Joking aside I hope you are doing well. I miss you big brother everyday you are away. I wonder if you're warm and if they are treating you harshly. It feels like you've gone to jail or something from the texts you sent so I worry about you alot. I hope this pictures make you smile there is some of the other members too because I know it's your first time without them in a long time you must miss them. I don't have much to say my day to day hasn't changed except for not seeing you. Ah but the price of ramen has went up a dollar! A whole dollar! Isn't this the sign of the times? Ugh how will we live now? Okay. Now I really have nothing to say. You got this joon keep your head up. -Dani
He looked at the photos that he hadn't known had even been taken and smiled. Oh, he had grey hairs before the enlistment. Army had made sure to point those out. Having grey hairs before 30 was unfortunately family genetics.
Going to jail? Ha, to him it was a lot like being a trainee again. In a small room with a bunch of other guys, no privacy. A communal shower and terrible coffee. A curfew and tight schedule. It was like when he was 15 and trying to pass classes and sneak food into the dorms.
in some ways that made it easier. It was because he'd been through it, he already knew how to cope. He saw it was harder for a lot of the younger guys who had never been away from home before now. He'd lived away from his parents since he signed a contract at 15, so he had advice and he knew he could make it easier on these young kids that has never made ramen or saw a coffee pot before.
But it was really part of what turned boys into men in the military. It was teaching you to rely on yourself and your squad. It was teaching you that you couldn't run to your parents for help anymore. You had to pull up y our boot straps and be a man. Be an adult.
He had already done this and so in a way he had an edge. He had more discipline in himself. He thrived in routine and he had been steadily working out. A lot of the new recruits had never stepped foot in a gym. Therefore he found himself in a mentor position again, only this time not in BTS but just the older soldier with experiences in life helping out the younger who it was their first time away from home.
And Goddamn! Ramen up a dollar! What the hell is this world coming to? That crosses a line. A line!
#the fuck a dollar?#how are we going to afford ramen?#it's not like the recipe changed!#ramen is supposed to be college food!#Will have to ration ramen now

Recently found and read your fic Storms of Ice and Fire and can I just say while I was hesitant at first, damn you made a believer out of me cuz boy I was not expecting this caliber of fic from a pairing like this. The fantasy and worldbuilding slaps harder than donkey kong, if you ever write and publish original stuff I'll be lining up to read it.
Speaking of - your OC Lu Da is the olive in the Storms martini I don't normally get that into OCs but he is on another level. You managed to give Ozai a buddy and a likeable one at that, I wanna go on all the adventures with this legend. Excited seeing all the different asks and art of him too.
Welcome aboard the S.S. Ozara! A rowboat with a small but dedicated crew. (*Waves to the nearby S.S. Zhayu*)
Ah, this is so nice, thank you! I'm very glad you have been enjoying it (even if it's been 84 years since I've updated and I'M SO SORRY to everyone, but I do plan to finish it).
And I am touched to know that you like Lu Da! It has been an incredibly fun journey writing him, through his inception and all the various iterations up to now. There is no greater honor as a writer than knowing others have connected with a character you breathed life into.
#this made my day#thank you!#ozara#storms of ice and fire#atla fanfiction#lu da#atla oc#'slaps harder than donkey kong' gave me a good chuckle. you've played smash bros i presume? 😆

@disneyanddisneyships it's been 84 years..
ill-fated reality
~~~~~
{Two years later..}
[Marianne]
My eyes flutter open, being met by the sight of the curtain barely even covering the bright rays of the sun. I let out a sigh, before pushing myself to get up. No matter how much my body protested on it, I had to get up. Only three years for me to be crowned, and I still can't be able to excel at this daily excercise of getting up instantly. Just in time before some maids came into the door.
"..I figured it is time I get up." I say bluntly before walking over to the ladies in waiting, who have come prepared to assists me for the day.
If it were any other place, I would just have to ring a bell for them to arrive. But with my mother still queen I cannot break her rules. Atleast not yet. There should be a certain time where they would come in and help me get ready for the day. They come in with the attire and jewelry, preferably picked by my mother. She has quite the fixation of overdoing things.
I get out of my bed, before greeting my maids before they went and helped me to get dressed.
"Is this alright, your highness?" One of them asks as they were tightening my corset. I let out a small grunt before nodding to her. "I feel quite.. fine."
She nods, before two more maids assisted on dolling me up with a dress, and jewelry. I've gotten used to the familiar faces around the castle, and so this was nothing new to me. I smile at my reflection in the mirror, neutral about every situation there ever was in my life. I turn to my maids, nodding before some guards opened the door for me, and I nod off to them.
They follow me off to the dining room. Sure, I have a few people trailing behind me at all times, to care for me. But I tell them off for a while if I do wish for some privacy. I look around the castle halls as we headed towards the dining hall for breakfast.
I stop in my tracks, calling for my personal.. male guard. "Noah.." I say, turning my head behind me to see he was standing exactly where I was. "Has mother been pestering you lately? I believe she's been planning something she won't speak to me about.."
Noah had been there all my life, and had been the one to assist me on the incident. He had been there since I could even know how to walk. I figured after quite a loss of one of my subjects I should be more protective of him.
Lately, my mother had been all over him. I don't know for certain what the deal was, but I do hope he would atleast give me something. Usually, she would pester anyone when it comes to her plans for the kingdom, but for her to approach someone close to me as Noah..
"I believe that's a coversation for another time, my lady." He responds almost instantly.
I paused for a while, speculating.. but if it was certainly for another time.. how long do I have to wait?
Still I nod to him. "Understood." I respond before entering the dining hall, a whole buffet of nice food selections all for me and my mother alone. Such a large.. family table if you ask me..
"Ah! Marianne!" Mother calls out to me, the sugar and sweetness of her tone covering her sour intentions. She walked over to me, her hands making its way to my cheeks.
"Come! Have a full on meal, my girl!" She urged, and I sat at the end of the table, as she stands on the other end.
I smile at her, feeling something new and surprising rising in me. "Did I miss an occation?"
She shook her head. "I figured we should start working on that weight of yours.." she glanced at me up and down. "So, I think you should atleast eat one full meal a day.. and you shall drink water for the rest!"
I furrowed my brows. "..what for? I believe I weigh quite fine.."
She laughs.. and in all that I felt like I was looking up at an empty dark tower. "We can't risk you getting.. well, fat! You're eighteen.. in three years or so.. if you master it, you might attract a noble suitor. Not to mention, you must be thin enough for him to be encouraged to produce an heir! Attraction is a very.. vital aspect. Especially in terms of--"
I cut her off, not wanting to hear the end of the sentence. "Mother, I know.." I sigh, grabbing a fork. "Abstinence.. is it not?"
She nods in acknowledgement. "Prescisely! But, we have got to make sure you eat healthy sum of food! We've prepared a whole course for you! Perfect for preparing you for what's to come in years!"
Now this confused me. "I don't quite follow.."
"It must be quite right for you to produce a healthy baby in the future! And.. as many ones for your king." She responds. "Now, take as much as you need for the rest of the day. Don't forget to ask Noah for assistance."
I look down for a second. If it was best for my mother.. and what she perceives to be good, then I can tolerate it for a while. As queen I can break as many rules as I want, start a new age. But for now, I guess I need to please my mother enough not to cast me out.
"Understood." I nod.
"Oh, my little princess.." she walked over to me, before planting a kiss on my forehead. "I'm absolutely delighted.. you're not like your father."
I smile, taking in a deep breath. "Ofcourse, Mother.."
She smiled, before she left me all alone to practice my abstinence.. ofcourse I am familiar with it. We're quite religious. But for four years instead of a month.. or a week..
Four years.
Just four years. Temporary.
I shake my head, and started picking on as many food as I could, though I could see Noah from the corner of my eye looking down. A guilt no one could blame him for. He was a measely puppet on mother's strings.. all of us were.
He was one of the few people dear to me. For someone who seemed so careless about certain things he cared for me. Someone who took after the role of a little girl's father, or that's what I saw him to be. Seeing him feel as though he's unable to make it up to me was enough to make my fake grin fall.
I look at him, a sympathetic look. "Noah." I call out, and he snapped his head up to me. "Would you please be kind to bring me a book?" I requested.
"..ofcourse. What would you like to read about?" He asks.
I ponder about it for a moment, and he let me take my time deciding. I look at him, my eyes coming off as pleading rather than making a simple reauest.
"The stars.." I respond. "The one from back then on the first top shelf.."
He nods, before heading off with a few maids. He came shortly after, just in time before I took my third bite. He gives me a book, and a stand for it so I could read while I have a full meal. I nod to him. "Thank you kindly.."
And so I dove into my food, before turning onto the very first page. I taste something in my mouth, which made me stop in my tracks. I grab a table napkin nearby, spitting it out.
Olives.
I dislike them.
I frown, before going back to my buisness. I pick out as many as I could, taking my time on this new particular practice.
Four years..
~~~~~
[Damian]
"Ladies!" I call out, the maids and servants answering almost as soon as I did. It had been one of those sparring trainings with someone else this time, as Jake had been accompanying my father somewhere down the forest. No clue as to why he couldn't ask me instead. Jake, is.. well.. a difficult person, and heaven forbid he would start running back to his home after a short while.
I came out quite sweaty in my shirtless figure, and quite exhausted if I may say so. I put my sword down, stretching my body as I catch a few breaths.
"Your highness!" One calls out to me, a towel in hand. "You must have been working so hard for you to get all soaked like this!"
I smile in a sheepish manner. "Yes, I believe soaked can be a correct term for that." I say. "You don't have to dry me up. I'll do it myself."
She sighs. "It is my job to be at your beck and call, but.. if that's what you wish." She hands me the towel, in which I wiped my own sweat in. All sweaty and muscled was one way anyone can describe my situation. I'll take a quick break before requesting a bath.
"Oh, there we go.." I say after I'm done. "Thank you, Anne."
"Should we leave it at that for a moment or do you want to dress up as soon as possible?" Anne asks, three maids trailing behind her, to ready my casual royal attire if ever I make up my mind.
"Oh, no. Not so fast. I would be overheating in it. Maybe give it a few." I say to Anne, before she nodded to me.
"Would you need anything more?" Anne asks, before a maid came up in front of me, placing a glass of water on the small table of my very own 'practice room' as I'd like to call it.
"Oh, thank you kindly." I say before I drank from the glass, emptying it in a matter of seconds. My sparring partner made his way out of the room calling the practice quits. I nod in acknowledgement, telling him off. I turn to Anne. "Though.. I might need a shirt on."
And just one of them came to get me what I needed. Few steps ahead a new servant who came to me. I give a nod to them, taking the item just before they could get the chance to dress me up. I was a prince, no- I am a prince. But something about the thought that I get people to respect me solely for that fact does not quite sit right with me. I treat my subjects as equal to the eye. It's not a complaint, I enjoy company around the place, they were the only souls I know of.
Though I did want to have a big family.
I let out a breath I'd been subconsiously holding for a while, and I dismiss them with a kind, knowing grin. Anne, although one of the people intended to leave and go on about their buisness, stayed.
"What would you like to do now? Your father's out hunting." She asks.
"I could go for a good read at the moment. Just prepare me the paperwork after I'm done." I respond, before pouring another drink of water on my glass. "After all, he can only call for me if he needed assistance."
She smiled, warm and knowing. Anne was always a remarkable individual. A woman with a nature of wonders.. to have someone like her serve me and live under my father and I's empty castle had been an honor. She was not someone to take very lightly, and carelessly thrown away, that I'd known. For the sole fact that her gentleness and the way she served with full honor I have immense respect.
I nod to her in acknowledgement, taking a drink from my glass once more before fleeing the room, making my way to my chambers. I can say I am quite the free-spirited soul. A part of who I was remained still despite what happened all those years ago. On my benefit, I can roam freely through these empty halls without some people trailing close behind. Sometimes I do, but only if it was for important matters.
Father could let me do whatever I want, only as long as I don't stray from his specific rules. He prefers the company of hunting and paperwork, drowning himself in endless duties. That was the reason for his seemingly careless behavior towards his own son, which sometimes can go too far out of hand, but all is forgiven. He is my father.
I entered my chambers, silence permeating the atmosphere. I was met by the sight of my table, a few books and papers scattered with the ink and quill at the side. In one of the few books, I grabbed the story about a forest beast, innocently establishing a relationship with a human his kind would have grilled on the fire if they saw one.
Not to mention the humans in the story were most likely to do the same. Why else would my father be at a forest in this time?
I chuckled at the thought, and grabbed a few things, including my butterfly hairpin, something I never even wore yet I always bring along with me. I bit my lower lip as I put it in my pocket, before looking at all of the paperwork needed to be done in assistance of my father. I sighed, before fleeing the room and heading towards a nearby river outside of town, telling my subjects I would be home before father knows I'm gone.
I hear the water running, freely as they did so. The wind breeze welcomed me as though they knew my soul, and my body relaxed at the sight, and thr feeling this place gives me. This had been a sacred place for only me, and being here meant everything was going to be perfect.
I looked around scanning the place I knew all too well.
I spotted the usual old rock from near the trees, and so I sat down, and put the book to the ground. I made sure it had been dry, since I don't want to soak it. As I sat down there, I heard a scream from not so far from me.
[Marianne]
"Noah, I will be alright.." I say, reassuring him. He looked at me as I had gone insane. I never went to any place without his supervision, as my mother had said.
"I will just watch the fishes. Nothing more." I stated.
"Your mother would have my head if I came back to the castle without you." Noah responded. Lately I had been going on about going to places on my own without anyone following me. Probably because I'd never been like what I was, I was growing out of the usual thing I grew up with. One year until I am nineteen, my life will change forever.
"Then don't head back to the castle." I stated, before I made a reach for his sword belt. "Here. Give that to me."
Noah's brows furrowed. "Pardon?"
"Give that and your sword to me." I say once again. "I will not repeat it a third time. All those years I've spent training with you in secrecy only for it not to be of use?"
"Danger is not something to be taken lightly. I went easy on you with the training because not only were you the princess but a child." Noah scolded, taking a defensive hold of the belt. "A child I've sworn on my life to protect."
I give him a nod. "And you are protecting me by your secret teachings of combat.. and how to handle myself out there. If you could just let me take it for a while.. I'll take my chances to prove myself to you."
He shook his head. "You don't have to prove yourself to me, kid. You have a strength of your own and that is something that I am proud to have even witnessed."
"If you are so proud of me, then place your trust in my hands." I say once more, reaching for his belt. "If you can look at me with pride, then you can let me go with faith."
He seemed to think about it for a moment, before he sighed, defeat in his tone. He took his belt off, one that held his sword from his hips, and wrapped it around me, before locking it when he made sure it was safely put on a dress like mine.
"Thank you." I say to Noah with a smile of gratitude.
He smiled, before giving my head a pat. "Go ahead, kid. I'll be waiting here." He says, then put his hand down. I grin, my lips almost reaching my ears as I nod my head to him and walked off.
Now there was not a day where Noah wouldn't be too protective for someone who wasn't even his own child. But this was one of the few only moments where he showed a hint of his trust in faith.. and it was not on my mother. It was on me.
I know what I'm capable of, and he knew that as well.
I head to the usual place I'd been hanging along; The river from out of town.
I stand at the scenery before me, not some enchanted magical place like the ones I describe on paper. It was nature. The way some would picture a river in their head, it was a cold, relaxing atmosphere.. streams of water running freely as my eyes danced between the trees that had covered the whole place.
Nature had been truly beautiful, and I hope the people in their kindness would keep this as it is, that way greater things can be given to them as well.
I held my dress, kneeling down to the water as my knees hit the fresh ground. For the first time I hadn't been scared to be alone. Just me and my thoughts in a river.
This very river was a core memory. It was where I wrote a book for myself, about something that never had to change for it to be beautiful. In their own way, shape and form. Things were beautiful. Just as it is.
I yelped, shuddering as i felt something tickling my nape, then i felt something land on my shoulder. It was an extremely light weight, but I felt it touch me. I look over to my shoulder where the thing landed.
I tilted my head.
It was a butterfly.
Monarch.
It had been fluttering its wings slowly on my side, aa though it had found some flower to feed off on.
But I wasn't..?
Still it was not getting off of me. It stayed there. On my shoulder.
Do I smell like flowers?
Is this a compliment?
Suddenly, it was going to fly over my face. I shrieked in surprise, ultimately falling off of the water. I felt the cold wetness hit my back as my bottom met the solid rock down there. My dress was getting soaked. My dress that was heavy as it is. I doubt insects have a way of thinking and I bet on my life they never will, but it had no idea how many layers of clothing I wear on a daily basis. Soaked gown meant even more weight.
I curse the thing as it flew away, helpless on the water as I scream out to no one. This was not the danger Noah warned me of. I had secret stalking, or plotted abduction in mind, but all I get was a butterfly getting me into the water.
That damned butterfly.
Just then I heard footsteps from miles away.
Noah?
"My lady! Might you need some.." the man trailed off, stopping in his tracks as he saw my face. His gentle face contorted into a cold, seething expression as he stopped mid sentence.
Brown hair. Green eyes.
A dark green suit mixed with a shade of grey.
My eye twitched, my brows knitted together as I clench my jaw.
[Damian]
Those familiar dirty blonde hair haunted my senses like wolves in the night. Those eyes just struck a special nerve I never knew I had, and with one look she triggered it.
It didn't matter if it was a look of helplessnes turned rage. It never mattered. It was never right to take joy in a lady's distress, but this time I could make an exception.
"It's been a long time coming, princess Marianne." I greeted, throwing spite in every inch of my tone hoping she got the message of my fervid loathing.
"I figured, Damian." She responds with that same spit I knew all too well, not even bothering to address me as a prince. "Nearly two years, is it not? My old nuisance?"
"Nearly." I replied, not moving an inch. "Although I do wished I could have had more years without your presence."
"As would I, but reality can be often ill-fated." She stated, her dress slowly being soaked whole in water. I cross my arms, trying not to wish a snake suddenly appears and injected a deadly venom in her veins.
"I would agree."
She sat there in silence, before grunting as she tried getting out of her predicament, but to no avail and her pastry-like gown being soaked in water by the minute she stayed stuck in the same place.
"Say, is the ever-so elegant, fierce and independent young princess in distress and need of some assistance?" I mused out loud, and to my mirth, she looked away refusing to say a word.
"Have you taken advantage of me?" Marianne- the princess asked in doubt.
"I shall not confirm nor deny, your highness." I bowed to her, making it clear that I quite enjoy the feeling of being on the ground standing from her.
What I didn't notice, is how her foot still had the advantage to trip mine and how quickly I let my guard down. It is wrong to underestimate a person's capabilty, and since my smug loathing got the best of me, to the water I went with her.
The water.
I fell on my face in it.
Idiocy, my old friend.
I quickly got my head out of the river, looking at her glare like she'd been insane.
And she had been.
"You- You've got the nerve!" I say in complete disbelief, not of her, but of myself.
"I dare!" She responds. "You will get me out of here."
"Pardon?"
"I said.. you will get me out of here."
I tilt my head, amused. "And why should I do that?"
"Because I am a lady in distress. You refuse to help me? I shall strip you off your power once I am queen!" She responds, irritated.
"You're not the queen right now. Just a lady in distress." I grinned, getting out of the water, trying to dry my clothes.
"Which is why you are going to get me out of here!"
"What's in it for me? Your mother's head?" I joked.
"Or your father's."
I laugh, and shake my head. "If I could have a canvas with me, your situation would have had a portrait hanging around the walls of an art gallery."
"And your execution would have been the talk of history!" She spat back.
"I agree I would make a radiant historical hero." I shrug my shoulders. If reveling in her misery gets me to my end then I pray heaven lets me in.
"How can you be a historical hero if you can't even help a princess?"
"Heroes defeat villains, your highness. It is a common knowledge everyone knows." I respond, fixing my wet hair that I know for certain Jake would have a field day with.
"I am a villain for not letting in the uninvited to a party! I think I've heard this in the books- the uninvited always brings a curse!" She says matter-of-factly.
I feigned pain in my chest. "Oh, you wound me! How could you reveal things such as my very own master plan?"
"You are.. unbelievable." She says, her fury tempting her.
"Thank you!" I stated.
And there it was..
My face falling into the water again. The culprit being none other than Princess Marianne.

1, 7, 25, 43, 50, 84, 92, 121, and 135 for the book asks!
Oooh some of these are gonna be hard!
a book that is close to your heart
The Angel Riots by Ibi Kaslik
This book came into my life by accident when I stumbled across it in the library and was intrigued by the plot summary. I love it so much. This is not the last time it's gonna appear here lol.
7. a book you did not finish
I started Infinite Jest once a long time ago and just... drifted away from it. I don't even think I know where my copy is anymore. Oops.
25. a book by your favourite author
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski
Another one of my favourite books in the world. I also absolutely adore his Familiar series but cannot in good conscious recommend that since he got 5 volumes in (of a planned 27) and is now on hiatus because those books were expensive as hell to publish and just weren't selling enough.
43. a book that you have read more than three times
The Angel Riots. I revisit it at least every year or two? It's just so good. On the surface it's about the life of a band on tour but it's actually about a group of deeply dysfunctional people running from various things and has some incredibly beautiful prose. It'll also make you fall in love with Montreal even if you've never been there.
50. a book that made you cry a LOT
The Winners by Fredrik Backman.
It's the third book in a trilogy so it's the culmination of a lot of things that are set up in the first two and I bawled like a baby for the last like... 100 pages.
84. your favourite dystopian read
Y'know, I don't really read that much dystopian fiction tbh but the other day I was thinking about The Crystal Drop by Monica Hughes, which I loved as a kid. It's not so dystopian as it is... sci-fi/spec fic? But in a terrible future (in the distant, distant year of... 2011) during an apocalyptic drought and there is one part involving their dog that haunts me to this day, a solid 25 years later.
92. a book about a redeemable villain
Gonna go a little out of left field here and go with the Walking Dead comics, because Negan is truly one of the greatest villains but is so goddamn likeable by the end.
121. a book that makes you nostalgic
Naomi & Ely's No-Kiss List by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan
It's YA and seems quite young but it also makes me nostalgic for a very specific period of teenagehood. I think it's because I was already well into my 20s when I read it and I was like "Ah yes I remember when I thought these were real problems :)" I don't know, I just really like this book and it deserved a WAY better movie than it got.
135. recommend any book you like!
I am TELLING you if you can find a copy of The Angel Riots, find it and read it. I need to read it again too. It's not even that long!
Thank you!
