I think it's genuinely concerning how sex-negative we, as a society, are becoming. (This post brought to you by a few tweets I saw)
Does no one else think it's genuinely worrying how if you even find a fictional character attractive, you're called a gooner, or a degenerate, or some other pejorative to indicate that being sexual in any way is gross and nasty and yucky? Why does art suddenly lack artistic value because it's sexual in nature? Why are we so obsessed with associating a core feature of the human condition with shame and guilt?
Even more concerning is that it isn't just some niche little group of people on the internet, it's rampant. Every nook and cranny of the internet has these people, ready and raring to call you names if you dare speak anything slightly not-safe-for-work.
Like the people on twitter openly calling trans women degenerates and freaks for having an incest/rape kink (I've seen this one A LOT), because how can you claim to be an ally, or lgbt-friendly, or a feminist, but get mad at a woman expressing her sexuality? Why does sexuality gross you out to the point you feel the need to demean people over it?
And where does it end? Are we going to start calling women who dress a little too revealing 'sluts' again? Are we going to ban sex scenes in movies? Start preaching abstinence, say sex outside of marriage is bad, that lust is immoral, and being gay is a sin?
I'm sure that a large part of the problem is that these people are generally children, and still in the "sex is gross" phase, but I know that's not the case with all of them. I'm just worried for the future, because all the people saying these things are just reinventing conservatism under the guise of progressivism, and are (intentionally or unintentionally, I'm not sure) causing more harm than good.
I know we talk about puritanism and stuff all the time, but in my opinion, it's gotten to a point even the actual puritans didn't get to.

Something I love about Leo is that, canonically, he IS capable of cooking, he’s just completely incapable of using a toaster. He’s banned from the kitchen not out of an inability to make edible food, but because being within six feet of a toaster causes the poor appliance to spontaneously combust.

can we all agree that sieun waking up and calling for suho is one the most heartbreaking things we’ve seen ever? I’m not talking about sad, sad is aplenty in tv and film. the scene is heartbreaking. the way his voice is hoarse and cracked, the way he just repeats I need to go to suho, the way he has to be held down, the way he doesn’t cry but his eyes are filled with tears, the guilt and desperation you can viscerally hear, the way his eyes are unfocused. it doesn’t make you cry because he’s just sad, it makes you cry because you feel his immense pain and a thousand things he feels for suho

Thinking about the use of Daylight for Jere and Belly and Red for Bellyand Conrad, and how on the surface, you could say "ooh Daylight is the song about moving on! About moving past harmful loves into this better, brighter, warmer love, which means that's what Jere is for Belly! That he's the better choice, the endgame choice."
Except! If we look at these songs through a Swiftie lens (and Jenny Han is a Swiftie), we know that the love in Daylight ended up NOT being what we thought and that maybe this "golden" love wasn't actually the final answer.
And then you look at the lyrics. Daylight says "I don't wanna look at anything else now that I saw you." The first three words are key there for me when thinking about Belly's mindset. She doesn't want to look at anything else, right? She wants to be so focused on Jere and her love for him.
Except then come the lyrics of Red: "But moving on from him is impossible when I still see it all in my head." She may tell herself she's focused on Jere, but moving on from Conrad is impossible. She may tell herself she doesn't want to "look at anything else," but she is.
The depth of the love and emotion expressed in Red is also just insane next to Daylight. Daylight is like "oh this is golden this is great!" And then Red is like "Touching him was like realizing all you ever wanted was right there in front of you" and "Memorizing him was as easy as knowing all the words to your old favorite song" and etc. And "it comes back to me, burning red" the way that Belly and Conrad are coming back to each other! Daylight says "you gotta step into the daylight and let it go" except she can't! She says "Tell myself it's time now gotta let go" BUT THEN "moving on from him is impossible." The endgame is spelled out right there (without even bringing the books into this).
I also love thinking about both of these songs through the lens of the kinds of loves Belly's mom talks about in season one, the cozy campfire love versus fireworks. This post by @blues-valentine brings up some great points about this and how the campfire love is what Laurel and Belly's dad had and what Belly has with Jere, and the implications of all of that, and how her relationship with Conrad is the kind that fits her more and challenges her, and when you bring Daylight and Red into all of that? How Daylight represents the campfire love and Red fireworks? Do you see the vision now?
Daylight doesn't represent the healthier, moved on love from Conrad. Rather, in this instance, it's more of Belly trying to tell herself that this is the better love for her, that she's in this nice golden campfire warm haze, and then Conrad shows up and she realizes she was never over him, that their love is the kind of love she was looking for. Not that Conrad is the "unhealthy" choice, as some might take from that, but the one that fits Belly more, the one that she loves on such a deep, "that strong" level.

It was low-key so hot when in the second batman live action, Cillian Crane said "I said my drugs would take you places, I never said they would be places you'd want to go"
I need Btaa scarecrow to say precisely those lines now because he is essentially Cillian crow just fan fitted to be more accurate.
(Huge ass massive character rant in the tags lol, I LOVE JON SO SO SO SO SO MUCH)

I've never been able to fully recover from Sora visiting the Dreameaters at the end of Dream Drop.
Ever since I've seen posts point out that he's kinda hiding away after failing the Mark of Mastery, I haven't been able to not think about it. He fails, but Riku passes and he shows nothing but joy over it, he doesn't make any indication that he's upset about his own failure. But right after that he says he has something to do, doesn't really tell them what that is, says he won't be long, apprently does take long, when asked about it when he comes back, he says it's a secret. The kicker is that we're shown in 3 that his failure does bother him quite a bit so it's like...
It's one of those moments that could be interpreted as Sora's coping mechanism rearing its head, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone told me I was overthinking it.
(This portion of Sora's narrative has me in a chokehold. His relationship with being a keyblade wielder and the constant gain and loss of power peaking its head into the open. What if I decided to be evil and make a compilation post of everytime Sora's failure of his exam/loss of power is brought up? What then?)

I could write a whole essay on how the fandom is wrong for watering shadow milk down to zesty twink and burning spice to thoughtless brute when both of their characters have so much complexity and depth
Tho I am glad that people are finally starting to realize that burning spice wasn't just bored and that there is soooo much more going on with him 🙏 his character and lore are so interesting and it's making me gnaw at the bars of my enclosure

yeah we love fucked up characters and plots, the part I don't like is when we "forget" (or chose to ignore) a huge piece of information in order to pretend it's less than it is, and I'm talking ab Ellen calling for a guardian angel and being met with a centuries old dark magic fueled aristocrat who had no business answering the call for a fucking angel and then gaslights her and everyone into thinking she called for him specifically. LIKE if we're talking ab how twisted Eggers' Orlok is, let's talk about the details here

So, I thought I knew every haunted place in the institution....
Until @ultramarinaa showed me what's behind this completely normal door that I somehow never noticed before.
Just to stress: This door is in a most normal hallway next to a bunch of normal offices.
