MGSV sketch dump. The brainrot is thriving

#mgs #metal gear solid #mgsv #mgs5 #mgsvtpp #I’ve let the brainrot simmer for a couple of days and dare I say I think I love this game #I mean there are things I hated but overall an absolute banger #I’ll definitely be replaying it #one thing I think the game would’ve benefitted from is taking more time for the ending #it was too abrupt #the additional higher difficulty missions could’ve been a mode #and those episodes could’ve been used to pace the ending #I also hesitate to recommend the game cuz it really benefits from the context of previous games #and that’s a lot of game #mgs5 also covers some very heavy topics #that hit very close to reality #I might have gotten more squeamish with time but some of those things were very difficult to process #one thing I think mgs does very well is it never settles for one side or one person being the absolute hero #in this plot they may be a relatively good person #but in the next they’re the villain #but it’s never static #and it u can’t get cozy with tropes #it’s not even grey morality it’s just human nature

Everyone should go read this fic, actually! It's a wonderful little compilation of moments that allow for showing both the ugliness and beauty of the gods when taken from a nuanced, compassionate perspective and it's always been one of my favourites to go back to every now and then just because of how fond I am of it. i think Sailor Moon's monsters tend to be more iconic than, for example, Precure monsters because you really can't go wrong with the hot lady+object/concept formula. like "cunty jigsaw puzzle catgirl" is just guaranteed to be a banger no matter what. but Precure monsters generally have to be large-scale and not humanoid because it's just better for the show's emphasis on physical combat and powerful punches and kicks -- you want to see those girls knock a modestly sized kaiju across a football field and you don't want the second graders in the audience to have to grapple with the implication of the Cures killing what seem to be sentient people, unless they're finishing off a midseason miniboss who is probably getting "purified" instead of killed anyway

#this might post might be complete nonsense. w/e #precure monster design does have some bangers (motorcycle cat from mahopre; scary schoolgirl monsters from tht one hugtto episode)#but its definitely less consistent. the level of camp just isnt there

Käärijä is ready to let cha cha cha go, I hope he can soon. Let Häärijä wear the yellow or green bolero, so that Käärijä can put more focus on his usual music, while also having the opportunity, time, and creative freedom to experiment to his heart's content. That way he can compartmentalize cha away into its folder, still perform it because it is the song that rocketed him into fame, and not grow to hate it.

part of the problem is that a lot of hugo's politics are really well thought out & considered & good but then some of them are like. entirely vibes-based to the point of feeling muddled & inconsistent & even straight up Bad sometimes. which is annoying

#sometimes it's like he's just saying things. chewing it over in real time but not getting anywhere really. which is frustrating when you've #just been immersed in a really deep & serious point he's carefully made & laid out just before #<- e.g. this section of revolt vs insurrection has some good points ig & could be interesting if it was actually grounded in some sort #of idk. political theory or something. but instead he spends a lot of it just falling back on ~vibes which sucks Especially bc #sometimes that 'sense' misleads him i think! and he ends up wandering closer to certain reactionary ideas than he intends #like he starts w this really banger bit basically making fun of the bourgeoisie opinion on violent uprising but then?? kind of ends up #doing that a bit himself by the end? not to mention that tbh i think the whole distinction he's trying to make here is kind of bogus anyway #it really feels he's trying to soothe his like lingering bits of conservative discomfort around this sort of armed uprising #by sorting it into a 'good' 'type' while maintaining a 'bad' 'type' for anything he's still not comfortable with #<- i wouldn't phrase that quite so harshly except i still think his bit on 1848 is annoying & this sort of goes hand in hand w that towards #like. actually actively working against the values he's trying to strive towards. y'know.#it's like you can see genuinely him intellectually trying to come round but he has still not let go of these #sort of like. instinctive conservative bourgeois discomforts in his subconscious. if that makes sense #thoughts #<- also the take on caesar & alexander & columbus etc. 😑🚬 i'm tired #kind of funny though bc sometimes his characters (i.e. like the amis) come across as having more clear grounded discussed well #thought through political opinions than he does. lol. it's like he saw the vision but was struggling with it personally at times
