Anyway I know it's been discussed before but I hate how the "reception" section on yuri titles on wikipedia is mostly dedicated to like, a handful of English-speaking yuri bloggers reactions to titles. It's not entirely irrelevant but the picture it paints is... incomplete.
#like what about reception in country of origin... what about broader opinions than like friedman+anifem+some ann writer#obviously these are going to be harder for english-speaking editors to aggregate and put into a good section but#it does create an unpleasant bias#similarly wikipedia's class s article is SOOOO bad omg

Well…my post that I made yesterday exploded in like a day or so, which is honestly kind of a both pleasant and unpleasant surprise. I didn’t expect to have to make a post like this since I assumed everyone else would understand the basic obviousness of the original(and thankfully there were some people who did! Props to y’all, you know who you are!). But since it was apparently too complicated for some silly-ass people to comprehend, let me dumb it down for those of y’all who didn’t.
“Trans men have privilege over trans women.”
What this statement DOES ✅ mean:
Trans men have privilege over trans women.
Transandrophobia/transmisandry/misandry does NOT fucking exist. Trans men are oppressed because of a societal bias against trans people, NOT against men. Transmisogyny exists because trans women are oppressed because of a societal bias against both trans people and women, which gives trans men inherent privilege over trans women.
There is a stark difference between being tme(transmisogyny-exempt) and being tma(transmisogyny-affected), even if you yourself are trans. As long as you are tme, you will have privilege over someone who is tma, whether you like it or not.
Male privilege doesn’t disappear because you are also oppressed. Someone who is male will still have privilege over someone who is female and also part of the same oppressed social class as him, because all else being equal, a man will have privilege and power over a woman.
Get it? Got it? Good.
Now, here’s what this statement DOES NOT ❌ mean:
Trans men have just as much privilege as cis men and are treated exactly the same as cis men.
Trans men are MORE privileged than cis men.
Trans men have privilege over cis women.
All trans men pass as men all the time and are perfectly seen and treated as men in all situations by cis society.
Trans men don’t face oppression and transphobia because they’re male and thus life is all hunky-dory for them as soon as they start transitioning.
Trans men’s problems aren’t that bad and aren’t important at all and therefore they should shut the fuck about them because they’re male and trans women have it worse.
Trans men and trans women have nothing/no issues in common.
Every single trans man on the planet is a raging incel misogynist who hates trans women with a passion and gets a sick kick out of oppressing them.
Trans men and solely trans men alone are privileged over trans women and they are the only ones ever capable of being misogynistic ever, in fact, they created misogyny and patriarchy as we know it!
Trans men are never raped, abused, stalked, bullied, harassed, ostracized, or murdered because they’re trans.
Like, if that doesn’t make it clear what I was trying to say in my post, and what many other people were also trying to say both on and of the notes of that post, then I don’t know what to tell you other than to get a brain and the ability to read.
Please don’t assume things that aren’t there, and stop putting words in my mouth. Thank you! 😇
#trans#trans women#transmisogyny#transandrophobia is not real#male privilege#feminism#patriarchy#sexism#misogyny#intersectionality#let’s do some basic mathematics everyone#geez#hopefully THIS is comprehensive enough#if the transandrowalnuts still don’t understand this then i don’t know what else to tell you 🤷🏿♀️#op

Omniston on STONfi DEX: Simplifying DeFi for Everyone
The world of decentralized finance (DeFi) is constantly evolving, and with each advancement comes new opportunities to improve the way we trade and manage our assets. One such innovation is Omniston, a feature integrated into the STONfi DEX that aims to reshape how decentralized trading works. Let me walk you through this in the simplest way possible so you can see why this matters to you and the broader DeFi ecosystem.
What is Omniston, and Why Should You Care
Think of Omniston as a smart marketplace for crypto trading. Instead of relying on traditional liquidity pools, where your assets sit idle waiting for someone to trade against them, Omniston connects you directly with market makers.
Here’s a relatable analogy: imagine you want to buy a car. Instead of visiting multiple dealerships and negotiating prices, you post your desired car specifications and wait for sellers to offer their best deals. Once you pick the one that suits you, the transaction happens directly. That’s essentially how Omniston operates, using a Request for Quote (RFQ) system to ensure traders get the best offers for their swaps.
Why is Omniston Different
1. Full Control Over Your Funds
Imagine keeping your money in your wallet instead of handing it to someone else while waiting for a deal. With Omniston, you maintain complete control of your assets until the moment of the transaction. This eliminates the risk of someone mishandling or misusing your funds.
2. No Need to Trust Anyone
In the world of traditional trading, trust is a huge factor—you’re often required to trust platforms or third parties to handle your assets securely. With Omniston, trust isn’t necessary because everything is governed by smart contracts. These are automated agreements written into the blockchain that ensure the terms are met before the transaction happens. It’s like having a foolproof contract that executes itself without bias.
3. Crystal-Clear Pricing
If you’ve ever been surprised by hidden fees or unexpected costs, you’ll appreciate Omniston’s transparency. When you use the RFQ system, you know exactly how much you’re paying and receiving before confirming the trade. No hidden charges, no unpleasant surprises—just straightforward trading.
How Does Omniston Enhance STONfi DEX
STONfi DEX has already earned a reputation for its user-friendly approach to decentralized trading. Adding Omniston only strengthens its position as a leading platform in the DeFi space.
Unified Liquidity: Rather than fragmenting liquidity across various platforms, Omniston brings it all together in one place. This makes trading more efficient and provides access to a broader range of tokens.
Speed and Efficiency: By combining off-chain order processing with on-chain settlements, Omniston ensures faster and cheaper transactions. This dual approach eliminates unnecessary delays and hefty fees often associated with other platforms.
Better Ecosystem Access: Developers and traders alike benefit from Omniston’s integration. It opens up opportunities to connect with millions of users and projects within the TON Space ecosystem, creating a thriving network of possibilities.
Why Unified Liquidity Matters
To understand the importance of unified liquidity, let’s consider another analogy. Think of liquidity as water. If you have a small amount scattered across several cups, it’s not very useful. But if you pour all the water into one large container, you have a more practical resource.
Omniston applies this principle to trading by pooling liquidity into a single platform. This means traders can access better prices and larger volumes, while projects benefit from increased visibility and participation.
Why This Innovation Matters
At its core, Omniston addresses some of the most persistent challenges in DeFi—security, transparency, and accessibility. By leveraging smart contracts and the RFQ system, it ensures that users have a seamless experience without compromising on safety or control.
For experienced traders, this means better prices and faster trades. For newcomers, it simplifies the process, making DeFi less intimidating and more approachable. And for the DeFi ecosystem as a whole, it sets a new standard for how decentralized trading should work.
The Bigger Picture
Omniston isn’t just a feature; it’s a step toward creating a more unified and user-friendly DeFi landscape. Its integration with STONfi DEX demonstrates the platform’s commitment to innovation and user-centric solutions.
Whether you’re a seasoned trader looking for efficiency or a beginner wanting to explore DeFi without unnecessary risks, Omniston offers a solution that feels intuitive and reliable. It’s more than just technology—it’s a practical tool designed with real users in mind.
Final Thoughts
In a space as dynamic as DeFi, advancements like Omniston remind us why decentralization matters. It’s about giving power back to the users, ensuring security without compromise, and making financial systems accessible to everyone.
As someone deeply invested in this ecosystem, I believe Omniston on STONfi DEX is a game-changer. It simplifies the complex, removes unnecessary barriers, and opens up opportunities for traders and developers alike. If you’ve been hesitant about diving into DeFi, now might be the perfect time to explore how innovations like this can make your journey smoother and more rewarding.
What are your thoughts on Omniston? Let’s discuss!

Blog Post Week 4: Due 9/19
How have names contributed to racial bias in both technology and society, and what are the consequences?
I truly believe that names, including nicknames, are strongly tied to people’s identities. For example, I get upset when my boyfriend calls me by my full name because it feels rude I prefer being called Val. So, yes, names matter they’re more than just labels. They reflect culture, status, etc. Think about how Kylie Jenner was criticized for naming her baby Stormi, but now many moms love that name. An uncommon name but Kylie’s social status changed that. So, how has technology contributed to making names a source of racism? It does. Studies have shown that they found that algorithms associated White- sounding names with “pleasant” words and Black-sounding names with “unpleasant” ones (Benjamin, 2019). This shapes how society perceives names. For instance, law enforcement is developing as their use of technology increases. This can cause where an unfamiliar name might lead to someone being unfairly judged as a “criminal.” The fact that technology uses names as a data point is a red flag. It’s not technology itself that’s racist-it’s the people who designed it, embedding their own social biases into these systems.
Why is technology being compared to Jim Crow law?
Jim Crow laws were designed to continue the separation of black and white people in everyday life, without explicitly saying it but enforcing segregation through legal means. These laws affected everything from where people could eat to where they could vote. Similarly, technology today has created a digital divide between those who have access to technology and the internet and who don’t. But truly it just isn’t a gap between socioeconomic but rather identities. The problem is, some argue that addressing this issue might violate freedom of speech. But why are we accepting racism online as something that’s okay? Just like Jim Crow laws, technology has created barriers that deepen inequality.
How does intersectionality shape individuals experiences in a digital space?
As Crenshaw explained, intersectionality is a way to understand inequality by looking at how different parts of a person's identity comes together. It's a prism for understanding many more social problems. Encourages people to think about advantages and disadvantages (Crenshaw, 2018). This idea helps us understand how various aspects of identity, like race and gender, combine to affect experiences with discrimination. For example, algorithms and online platforms can create unique challenges for people depending on their race, gender, and socioeconomic status. When creating fairer digital policies and technologies, it’s important to consider these overlapping identities. Identity is about the relationships between people in different communities and understanding each person’s unique background, both in the physical world and online.
Why is there a lack of awareness of these biases being present in major social platforms?
Noble discusses a case where Google was showing explicit content when searching for the term “Black women.” Google claimed this was due to a glitch in the system. However, Noble pointed out that it’s hard to believe such significant glitches could occur without the creators of these programs being aware of them. This issue isn’t highlighted because these are considered legitimate and trusted programs, yet they still fail to address these problems. As society, unawareness comes from normalizing bias. What we need to do is hold more accountability of the issue that is being put into our faces.

I'm not a fan anymore due to my own personal reasons, but I want to be objective. Timothee wants wrong to ask that worker not to stake pics. He's in character, and it was unprofessional for them to consider the eclipse over their job. Also, after seeing Tom filing TCR in new York and dealing with paps and fans asking for pics, I can understand why he was paranoid and off cause he's in character but also feels violated if that makes sense. I think Timothee may be a bit of the method and also struggles with some type of anxiety. He's very paranoid recently, so maybe being as famous as he has created that more. There was a time he was so open, and noe hes closed off. Whenever he's papped, he wears a mask, so maybe idk im speculating.
However, this isn't the first case. I've heard of this diva behaviour on set, unfortunately. There were rumours on DM a few yrs ago that alleged some crew workers in London about his antics whilst filming Wonka, and he was unpleasant to a female PA for messing up his umbrella request. There were several sources who cosinged this, but because he's big, it didn't go any further than those rumours.
He apologised the next day and gave them signed pics of the merch, lol. At the time, as a fan, I considered that he was dealing with the aftermath of his grandma passing cause it was during that time, so maybe this time he's dealing with the pressure of being Bob Dylan. I'm not defending him cause I'm not a fan, but actors in some cases do lose themselves in roles. I even remember during the press for Dune 1, Rebecca said timothee was more of a character actor than she is. When they said cut, he's still in that headspace, whereas she's making jokes.
Even Z said during a q&a for Dune 2 when she visited set, Timothee was standoffish cause he was in character. He apologised for that. I'm more shocked at the accusations of the director allegedly pushing a worker and not caring cause directors egos are never fun to work with moreso an actor imo.
Timothee is tricky to discuss because hes changed a lot, so who can defend him without their own personal bias? Before, he was very open with fans, and now it's only due to work that he works when he does with his fans unless it's for himself. He doesn't gonna podcasts anymore or has personal interviews. It's not bad, but it can be jarring as those fans became accustomed to his accessibility but now all they do is criticise his dating life with conspiracy CC, lol.
I'm really a fan anymore, so I didn't think this article was going to hurt him, but I find it interesting that his agent isn't disproving it...
We will see.
Oh wow 😳
Thanks Anon for providing this backstory on Timmy and your honest thoughts. I guess I had no idea he could be such a diva! 🥴
Even on the "Wonka" set? That's supposed to be a lighthearted KIDS movie! 😂🤣
Anyway, this is disappointing, because while I'm not a HUGE huge fan of Timmy's, I DO like him as an actor, and I did think that he was generally unproblematic and an overall nice guy. Now, I'm not so sure. 👀 Like I said, I've never seen him even looking like he's in a bad mood to anyone, not even fans lol 😆 So this is just kinda shocking to me.
But if there have been other reports in the past of his behavior, then that must mean there is a pattern.
I don't think there's ever an excuse to be mean and rude to people, so if this is the type of person that he is onset, then that's disappointing. 😔
I do agree that sometimes, people don't realize that a set is STILL a working environment, and sometimes it can be pretty serious! Some people just don't take it seriously and can be a nuisance, which can cause some actors to get annoyed. I know some actors can also get into character and have a hard time getting out of it.
Some also are trying to do a serious scene, and an interruption or disruption can break focus, and cause an actor to have to re-do a take, which is more time, energy, and money spent involved for everyone.
Weren't there some reports one year from an extra on the set of "Cherry" that said that Tom got a bit angry/frustrated with someone on set during the Emily overdose scene at the hospital because someone kept breaking his concentration or smthg? 🤔 I feel like I vaguely remember that from somewhere. Correct me if I'm wrong!
Either way, I guess my point is, I suppose it can happen to anyone? 🤷🏾♀️ We all can lose our cool sometimes.
I'll give an actor grace if it's a once or two time thing, but if it's a PATTERN with someone, then that is no Bueno for me. 😤
One of my biggest pet peeves are people who are just rude to others for no good reason at all. 👎🏾

➝ Psychopropaganda in Operation — How the government uses “psychopropaganda” and “psyops” to control the docile citizen sheep and beat them into compliance.
One readily-observable fact of life is that the human race always produces individuals who want nothing more than – or so much as – ruling other people. They can have an exceptional life: they can have extraordinary comfort, security, health, wealth, fame, position, and reputation and no real or imaginable problems, yet they remain powerfully unsatisfied unless and until they are ruling people, many people.
And they want power over others simply for the sake of wielding that power. Oh, nowadays they hide their motives under claims that their orders are given solely for the good of the people, the benefit of the ruled, but that is inevitably and invariably a bare-faced lie – they do it simply because they can not stand to see people making their own decisions.
If you believe that the history of man is one of continuously evolving, advancing human socialization and civilization, then these “ruler” types are atavisms: genetic throwbacks to a more primitive time and species.
In olden times, these personality types were far more honest than their modern descendants are. Then they came at you with their big clubs (and possibly a few Neanderthal buddies) and said, “You’re going to do whatever I tell you to do, or I’ll bash your head in!” Today’s megalomaniacs (save for the ocasional Hitler and Stalin) are as dishonest as their forebears were straightforward. Today’s dictators con you into meekly submitting to their arbitrary orders by telling you that it’s for your good, society’s good, or some “greater good.”
While their methods today are far subtler (and less physically painful), their motivation, their mind-set, and their goal – power over others – is no different from that of their caveman ancestors. As witnessed by the fact that – should someone not fall for their male bovine defecant and insist on going his own way – they still send the Neanderthals to bust down his doors, “confiscate” (that’s a euphemism for “theft by government”) his property, and throw him, worse for the wear, in jail.
That is, if they haven’t already killed him in the process.
In psychological warfare, words are the bullets used (just as ideas – concepts – are the bombs), and the warfare itself has evolved. In earlier times, propagandists would try to recruit you to their side by the force of their arguments and “reasoning” – by “out-talking” you. Today they are far more insidious. Today, they totally (and deliberately) warp the meanings of common words into diametrically-opposed meanings, their meanings. And they also slyly and covertly turn your (the target’s) traditional values upside down.
One of the main techniques they use is pdi-transfer. “Pdi” stands for “psychodynamic index.” The name breaks down this way: “psycho-” refers to the subconscious workings of the human mind; “-dynamic” indicates a “power” or “force” in motion; and “index” means a measurement, a scale of measurement. And here’s how “psychodynamic index” works.
All words exert a psychological effect upon us human beings. That is, just hearing (or reading) a word creates an emotional reaction or state in a person’s mind. Most usually, these reactions are so subtle that we never notice them. But if the word is in your vocabulary (if you’ve heard it and used it to the point that you really know it), notice it or not, each word does create an emotional state in your mind.
As an illustration, “mother,” “home,” and “ice cream” usually arouse warm, pleasant (positive) memories in one’s mind, and so hearing them unavoidably creates a positive (“warm fuzzy”) emotional state. On the other hand, “hate,” “war,” and “death” usually arouse unpleasant (negative) memories and images, and so they create a negative emotional state.
The intensity (and sometimes even the “direction” – positive or negative) of the emotional bias (feeling) any particular word creates varies greatly from person to person, depending in each instance upon the past personal associations the word brings up, ranging all the way from palpably (that means so strong you can consciously feel it) positive, through just barely positive to just barely negative and ultimately to palpably negative.
And that is exactly what the “pdi” measures: the “strength” and direction (positive or negative) of the reaction. Because individuals’ pdis for the same word can and do vary greatly from person to person, there is no “set” pdi – that is, no precise numerical or quantitative “measurement” that applies to all people – for any particular word. But there are lots of words that can be reliably counted upon to raise a strong – either positive or negative, depending upon the chosen word – emotional bias in the preponderant majority of a population.
“Pdi-transfer” depends upon the fact that applying words with high pdis to a person (or group) does, in time, “transfer” the emotional reaction the word carries to the person (or group) it is applied to, whether or not the application is justifiable or accurate.
The rule of pdi-transfer is to always apply words with high-negative pdis to “the enemy” and words with high-positive pdis to “our side.” As an example that everyone has witnessed first hand (whether or not you are aware of what is happening), those who are working aggressively to destroy America today apply words like “terrorist” and “racist” – words with very high negative pdis – to principled and proud Americans and “hero” and “patriot” to themselves.
The corollary (or “other side”) of direct pdi transfer is to “reverse” the historical pdi of a common word – to “demonize” positive pdi words and/or to “sanctify” negative pdi words through a program of intensive “public redefinition” of the chosen word, thereby causing people to now be condemned for the same thing they were once honored for, and vice versa.
Just as the word “militia” and the people identified by the word – both virtually revered by the Founding Fathers of America – have now been so successfully “demonized” by those who are determined to destroy this nation and the Constitution that even many true Constitutionalist patriots automatically “cringe” when identified as “militia.”
Good people who are not aware of the psychoprop technique being used on them in time believe the libel, with all its emotional bias having been transferred in their minds to the people labeled.
An historical example of the use of pdi transfer can be found in the international communist movement, which has been around (and still is) by that name for nearly two centuries. “Communism” is actually the third name that has been used by a 300 (plus)-year-old sociopolitical movement. While the international communist movement popularized by Marx and Engels initially had a slightly negative (“kooky”) image among the peoples of the world, the vicious, bloody rampages of the Leninist-Trotskyites in post-Revolution Russia gave the movement an actual “bad” name in most people’s minds.
So much so, in fact, that in order to get people to even listen to them, they had to change their label even though they have not changed so much as one comma in their centuries-old, anti-individual agenda. In fact, here in America they have had to change it repeatedly over the past 80 years, going through – as the public became aware of what they were actually selling – five “new” names: “progressives,” “liberals,” moderates,” “Communitarians” (which label was actually invented more than 150 years ago by a proudly self-labeled Communist) and the very latest, “Third Way.” (“Communitarianism” is being presented as a religion rather than a political philosophy, but it is a political philosophy.)
Another (and allied) form of “word psyops” that everyone is consciously aware of is “political correctness,” a particularly insidious psychological weapon in that it disallows any genuine debate and/or discussion, allowing only “lie” words to be used instead of honest and accurate words, thereby hamstringing honest people’s attempts to debate the issues.
For the sake of injecting sanity back into the public dialog (not to mention individuals’ minds), this site will point out various and sundry examples of especially egregious propaganda lies currently being foisted off on us by our teachers, preachers, mass media, and politicians in their dedicated and concerted effort to destroy this nation. It features two general categories of information which we have named “Dictionary” and “Snow Jobs” – “Dictionary” containing “restored” definitions of individual words whose use in the public dialog has been totally corrupted, and “Snow Jobs” correcting false logic and deliberately distorted common ideas and concepts.

How copyright filters lead to wage-theft
Last week, "Marina" - a piano teacher who publishes free lessons her Piano Keys Youtube channel - celebrated her fifth anniversary by announcing that she was quitting Youtube because her meager wages were being stolen by fraudsters.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcyOxtkafMs
Marina posted a video with a snatch of her performance of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata," published in 1801. The composition is firmly in the public domain, and the copyright in the performance is firmly Marina's, but it still triggered Youtube's automated copyright filter.
A corporate entity - identified only by an alphabet soup of initialisms and cryptic LLC names - had claimed Ole Ludwig Van's masterpiece as their own, identifying it as "Wicca Moonlight."
Content ID, the automated Youtube filter, flagged Marina's track as an unauthorized performance of this "Wicca Moonlight" track. Marina appealed the automated judgement, which triggered a message to this shadowy LLC asking if they agreed that no infringement had taken place.
But the LLC renewed its claim of infringement. Marina now faces several unpleasant choices:
She can allow the LLC to monetize her video, stealing the meager wages she receives from the ads that appear on it
She can take down her video
She can provide her full name and address to Youtube in order to escalate the claim, with the possibility that her attackers will get her contact details, and with the risk that if she loses her claim, she can lose her Youtube channel
The incident was a wake-up call for Marina, who is quitting Youtube altogether, noting that it has become a place that favors grifters over creators. She's not wrong, and it's worth looking at how that happened.
Content ID was created to mollify the entertainment industry after Google acquired Youtube. Google would spend $100m on filtering tech that would allow rightsholders to go beyond the simple "takedown" permitted by law, and instead share in revenues from creative uses.
But it's easy to see how this system could be abused. What if people falsely asserted copyright over works to which they had no claim? What if rightsholders rejected fair uses, especially criticism?
In a world where the ownership of creative works can take years to untangle in the courts and where judges' fair use rulings are impossible to predict in advance, how could Google hope to get it right, especially at the vast scale of Youtube?
The impossibility of automating copyright judgments didn't stop Google from trying to perfect its filter, adding layers of complexity until Content ID's appeal process turned into a cod-legal system whose flowchart looks like a bowl of spaghetti.
https://pluralistic.net/2020/12/12/fairy-use-tale/#content-id
The resulting mess firmly favors attackers (wage stealers, fraudsters, censors, bullies) over defenders (creators, critics). Attackers don't need to waste their time making art, which leaves them with the surplus capacity to master the counterintuitive "legal" framework.
You can't fix a system broke by complexity by adding more complexity to it. Attempts to do so only makes the system more exploitable by bad actors, like blackmailers who use fake copyright claims to extract ransoms from working creators.
https://torrentfreak.com/youtube-strikes-now-being-used-as-scammers-extortion-tool/
But it would be a mistake to think that filterfraud was primarily a problem of shadowy scammers. The most prolific filter scammers and wage-thieves are giant music companies, like Sony Music, who claim nearly *all* classical music:
https://pluralistic.net/2020/05/22/crisis-for-thee-not-me/#filternet
The Big Tech companies argue that they have an appeals process that can reverse these overclaims, but that process is a joke. Instagram takedowns take a few seconds to file, but *28 months* to appeal.
https://pluralistic.net/2020/05/17/cheap-truthers/#robot-sez-no
The entertainment industry are flagrant filternet abusers. Take Warner Chappell, whose subsidiary demonetizes videos that include the numbers "36" and "50":
https://www.dexerto.com/entertainment/annemunition-bizarre-copyright-strike-youtube-random-numbers-1317750/
Warner Chappell are prolific copyfraudsters. For decades, they fraudulently claimed ownership over "Happy Birthday" (!):
https://consumerist.com/2016/02/09/happy-birthday-song-settlement-to-pay-out-14-million-to-people-who-paid-to-use-song/
They're still at it - In 2020 they used a fraudulent claim to nuke a music theory video, and then a human being working on behalf of the company renewed the claim *after* being informed that they were mistaken about which song was quoted in the video:
https://pluralistic.net/2020/03/05/warner-chappell-copyfraud/#warnerchappell
The fact that automated copyright claims can remove material from the internet leads to a lot of sheer fuckery. In 2019, anti-fascists toyed with blaring copyrighted music at far right rallies to prevent their enemies from posting them online.
https://memex.craphound.com/2019/07/23/clever-hack-that-will-end-badly-playing-copyrighted-music-during-nazis-rallies-so-they-cant-be-posted-to-youtube/
At the time, I warned that this would end badly. Just a month before, there had been a huge scandal because critics of extremist violence found that automated filters killed their videos because they featured clips of that violence:
https://memex.craphound.com/2019/06/06/people-who-document-evidence-of-violent-extremism-are-being-shut-down-in-youtubes-crackdown-on-violent-extremism/
Since then, it's only gotten worse. The Chinese Communist Party uses copyfraud to remove critical videos from Youtube:
https://pluralistic.net/2020/05/27/literal-gunhumping/#communist-bandit
and so does the Beverley Hills Police Department:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/02/10/duke-sucks/#bhpd
But despite all that, the momentum is for *more* filtering, to remove far fuzzier categories of content. The EU's Terror Regulation has just gone into effect, giving platforms just *one hour* to remove "terrorist" content:
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2021/04/eu-online-terrorism-regulation-bad-deal
The platforms have pivoted from opposing filter rules to endorsing them. Marc Zuckerberg says that he's fine with removing legal protections for online platforms unless they have hundreds of millions of dollars to install filters.
https://pluralistic.net/2021/03/25/facebook-has-a-facebook-problem/#played-for-zuckers
The advocates for a filternet insist that all these problems can be solved if geeks just *nerd harder* to automate good judgment, fair appeals, and accurate attributions. This is pure wishful thinking. As is so often the case in tech policy, "wanting it badly is not enough."
In 2019, the EU passed the Copyright Directive, whose Article1 7 is a "notice and staydown" rule requiring platforms to do instant takedowns on notice of infringement *and* to prevent content from being re-posted.
There's no way to do this without filters, but there's no way to make filters without violating the GDPR. The EU trying to figure out how to make it work, and the people who said this wouldn't require filters are now claiming that filters are fine.
https://pluralistic.net/2020/09/11/protocols-of-qanon/#no-filternet
Automating subtle judgment calls is impossible, not just because copyright's limitations - fair use and others - are grounded in subjective factors like "artistic intent," but because automating a flawed process creates flaws at scale.
Remember when Jimmy Fallon broadcasted himself playing a video game? NBC automatically claimed the whole program as its copyrighted work, and thereafter, gamers who streamed themselves playing that game got automated takedowns from NBC.
https://old.reddit.com/r/beatsaber/comments/bi9cp5/beat_saber_stream_blocked_by_jimmy_fallon_show/
The relentless expansion of proprietary rights over our virtual and physical world raises the stakes for filter errors. The new Notre Dame spire will be a copyrighted work - will filters block videos of protests in front of the cathedral?
https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20190425/09282042084/why-your-holiday-photos-videos-restored-notre-dame-cathedral-could-be-blocked-eus-upload-filters.shtml
And ever since the US's 1976 Copyright Act abolished a registration requirement, it's gotten harder to figure out who controls the rights to any work, so that even the "royalty free" music for Youtubers to safely use turned out to be copyrighted:
https://torrentfreak.com/royalty-free-music-supplied-by-youtube-results-in-mass-video-demonetization-191118/
We need a new deal for content removal, one that favors working creators over wage-thieves who have the time and energy to master the crufty, complex private legal systems each platform grows for itself.
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2019/04/content-moderation-broken-let-us-count-ways
Back in 2019, Slate Future Tense commissioned me to write an sf story about how this stuff might work out in the coming years. The result, "Affordances," is sadly still relevant today:
https://slate.com/technology/2019/10/affordances-cory-doctorow-sf-story-algorithmic-bias-facial-recognition.html
Here's a podcast of the story as well:
https://ia803108.us.archive.org/3/items/Cory_Doctorow_Podcast_314/Cory_Doctorow_Podcast_314_-Affordances.mp3
Meanwhile, governments from Australia to the UK to Canada are adopting "Harmful Content" rules that are poised to vastly expand the filternet, insisting that it's better than the alternative.

I see a lot of people complaining that Grrm has written Rhaenyra story with very misgonystic undertones, is this true ? I didn't read the book and rhaenyra in the show seems boring but she is fine i guess??
In the book Rhaenyra has a lot of very unpleasant traits, she's pouty and she's stubborn and petulant and she holds grudges and she's got that thing royals have where they think everything they do is great because they're royal. And she does some really bad things, far worse than stuff portrayed in the show (in the book Vaemond dies because Rhaenyra orders that Daemon sneak onto Driftmark and kill him and drag his body back so that she can feed it to Syrax), but so have a lot of Targaryens. The Targaryen family is filled with some genuinely good people, some genuinely bad people, and a lot of people who are a grey mix of both, it's why people find them so interesting. The misogyny in Rhaenyra's story isn't necessarily about how she was written as a person (I think the only developed adult woman from the Dance era who doesn't have sucky qualities is Laena), but the story she has. The story of a woman who was the eldest child of the king and explicitly made his heir, but had the throne stolen out from under her, tried to fight back and regain it, ended up dying horribly, and is remembered throughout history as being in the wrong for exercising her birthright. That's what people have a problem with, the fact that Westeros's one attempt at a ruling queen before the main series was given such a dismal story. The issue isn't how Rheanyra is written as a character. The issue is whether or not you approve of the fact that ASOIAF is a misogynistic world by design.
Take Tolkien or CS Lewis, for example. Great writers, great works, seminal and classic, etc. But it's not that hard to point to misogynistic elements in their works and in Middle-Earth and Narnia, due to the fact that these men were products of their time and had views on women and how involved they should be in stories, which is why in Narnia Santa gives a whole speech on how Susan and Lucy can't fight in the battle because They're Girls and why Lord of The Rings's important female characters can be counted on one hand. That's when author bias is bleeding almost unconsciously into the work, which isn't what George is doing. George is acutely aware of the misogyny his female characters are facing, and the misogyny of Westeros and other countries in that world, because he's doing it on purpose. Issues of discrimination are everywhere in ASOIAF, from the ableism Tyrion has to deal with the class discrimination we see through Arya's eyes to the slavery in Essos (even though it's significantly less race-based than it is in GOT, as George was basing it off the system of slavery from Ancient Rome/the Antiquity) to the misogyny suffered by all our female characters, seen especially poignantly in Cersei's chapters. These issues are vital to our understanding of the characters and why they do what they do, how the react the way they react and what drives them in the narrative. George is very clearly doing this on purpose, creating a world that's intensely patriarchal and misogynistic, and having a portion of that world's history include an attempt for a female ruler to reign in her own right only for it to be shot down is part of that. It's very purposeful and done under the express consciousness of the author.
But the problem people have is that this is a fantasy world. George based some of the story on history, specifically the Wars of the Roses in medieval England, but not all of it. And while some of the society is based on medieval England, this is a world with dragons and magic and zombies and shapeshifters. So why, exactly, does it need to be an intensely misogynistic society where women are constantly abused and suffering and child rape is the norm? What purpose, some people argue, does it actually serve the overall narrative, the story of people vying for the throne but eventually having to band together to defeat an existential threat to the entirety of humanity? Does the intensely misogynistic society of Westeros actually further any character arcs of major figures, particularly the Key Five of the story (Jon, Tyrion, Bran, Arya, and Daenerys) or is it largely just character justification and flavor text? Is there an actual point, narratively, to Rhaenyra being denied what was promised to her by rights, just because she's a woman? There are people who say no, and that it's largely there just because George wanted to be able to write some trauma porn about women and that it's emblematic of his own misogyny. And listen, I do not know George Raymond Richard Martin, I do not know whether or not he's sexist or what he includes because it's part of his worldbuilding or just because he finds it hot, or where that line blurs. And whether you agree with that take on misogyny in ASOIAF isn't really something I can answer for you, it's largely a personal preference thing that falls on a scale of your own making. I know some people who aren't bothered by it, I know people who are bothered by it enough that it's a turnoff of reading the series as a whole.
It's also that, again, Fire&Blood isn't a novel. It's a history book. This is largely flavor text to help us understand the wold of ASOIAF, it's not vital to our understanding of the main story and these characters aren't treated as characters, they're treated as historical figures that some might find interesting, and some might not. That's why there's a lot less detail and stuff for us to look into wrt to characterization than there is in the main series, which is an actual narrative. So you're not going to get as in depth a look into what drives these people in the source material, that's for the show now. So there are probably some people who look at how barebones Rhaenyra is, how most of what we see of her is largely bad qualities, and then compare to the incredibly well fleshed out male characters in ASOIAF like Tyrion, and view Rhaenyra as being misogynistically written. But we also know frighteningly little about a lot of male characters in Fire&Blood; Aegon the Conqueror is notoriously written to have very little actually known about what he was like as a person, because this is a history book and people's characters and thoughts and feelings aren't often recorded in historical chronicles (trust me, it can be so frustrating).
By and large, the issue just seems to be the fact that GRRM has misogyny playing such a big role in the story at all, and that's what "misogynistic undertones" means as it pertains to Rhaenyra's story, and whether or not you view that as valid is ultimately up to you. But I do hope this at least somewhat answered your question!
#personal#answered#anonymous#fun fact anon the phrasing of 'is this true' sent me into a laughing fit#not because of anything you said but because there's a very famous childhood story of me and my sister#that involves that exact phrase and for some reason it just popped into my head#anyway i wrote all of this while listening to 'i don't like mondays' on a tuesday#i'm not an expert on this series or on misogyny in fiction by any means by the by#i'm just A Woman and i have a lot of opinions on things and i have a tendency to speak in full paragraphs#(that's not a joke that's an actual thing a teacher said to my parents about me once and it is true)#so have my lil two cents#hope it was at least informative

*Grabs your shoulders so hard they bleed*
I T ' S F U C K I N G A S S O C I A T I V E
Before the development of modern psychology, ads (e.g. in the early 20th century) often looked like persuasive essays. Back then, advertisers commonly thought that persuasion is about convincing someone to consciously make one rational decision instead of another.
After the development of modern psychology, advertisers largely left the essays behind and turned to brute association.
For example, a McDonald's billboard I frequently pass literally just has the McDonald's logo, a picture of a burger, and text saying "Mmmmm. Also, mmmmm." With no context, that sounds like a shitpost!
So what's association and how do advertisers use it?
When you experiencs multiple things together, experiencing one of them again will remind you of the other(s). That's true for seeing certain colors in a certain shape, for thinking about a certain topic, and for feeling certain emotions.
You also tend to perceive things as more similar to each other when you associate them together. For example, in “a wide variety of contexts...people exhibit a binary bias:” “we tend to underestimate the difference between two facts...given the same categorical label, while we overestimate the difference between the same two facts…given different [ones].”
It's all about vibes. IMO, people who say “vibes” usually mean their associations. Something gives you “bad vibes” to the exact degree that you associate it with unpleasant sights/thoughts/feelings/etc. It re-minds you of them because it brings them to mind.
Conversely, positive associations (“good vibes”) often cause a “halo effect” making something seem better, easier, and truer.
Familiarity alone is sometimes enough to induce positive associations. In his highly influential book Thinking Fast And Slow, which laid the groundwork for behavioral economics, Daniel Kahneman calls this “cognitive ease”:
Let's return to ads. The advertiser's main goal is twofold:
“When a customer thinks about the product/service they want, our product/service should come to mind.”
“Our product/service should have positive associations in the customer's mind, so the customer finds it appealing.”
A McDonald's advertiser hopes that (1) the feeling of hunger cravings reminds you of burgers which reminds you of McDonald's; and (2) remembering McDonald's will feel good.
So, they create ads to associate…
Hunger cravings with burgers
Burgers with the satisfaction of hunger
Burgers with McDonald's
McDonald's with happiness, fun, nostalgia, and other good feelings
Remember that McDonald's billboard I mentioned? It does at least three of those. It associates McDonald's (via the logo) with burgers (via the picture) and with satisfaction of hunger (via the "Mmmmm" text).
An advertiser who views their job through the lens of rational or conscious persuasion is usually not an effective advertiser.
hirosensei said: I still don’t understand what ads are supposed to do besides let me know that something exists if I didn’t already know about it.
advertising does let you know that something exists, but obviously the way it's traditionally applied goes way beyond that: in your daily life you're already gonna see people driving BMWs and drinking Coke and wearing Nike and yet still get reminders of the existence of these products every day for the rest of your life, why?
the folk explanation of advertising is that it conveys a message, typically explicit in the text and reinforced in the subtext, that the product in question will make you happy and successful and admired and sexy and people respond to that by buying the product, but that's obviously still too simplistic as we've all seen advertising for products we have no interest in and no intention of ever buying and most markets are competitive and there's more than one option and they all advertise, so what gives?
we can get more sophisticated by considering advertising as a dynamic equilibrium like an arms race or an ecosystem where Coke and Pepsi both need to keep advertising even though it isn't helping them gain an edge over the other simply because if they stopped they would fall behind, like trees wasting energy competing to be the tallest for sunlight when in an ideal world they would all agree to keep the forest canopy as low as possible.
or you can see advertising as akin to a potlatch, where the amount spent on it is a costly signal of the power and wealth of the brand, in itself demonstrating confidence and success more than anything that might be in the actual ad itself; corporations burning wealth to convince you that they are winners and you would be wise to affiliate with them.
or we can get a little introspective and consider that advertising isn't just to convince you to buy the product, it's to convince the people who do buy the product that you're convinced that they are cool people, such that they buy it not because advertising works on them (they're too cool to be won over!) but because they believe it works on you (you're impressionable!) except of course that all happens at the subconscious level as it sounds silly when spelled out explicitly.
other explanations for advertising (besides that it works) are that it makes the people running the brand feel good about themselves and is another form of compensation for them, either by boosting their image or giving them the excuse to dabble in the creative arts or liaise with actors or musicians or athletes they normally would have no reason to contact.
and similar analysis applies to all forms of design and marketing, not just obvious stuff like TV ads but logos, color schemes, custom corporate fonts, web design, everything orthogonal to a product that costs money and shapes the way that it is perceived in the market.
#psychology#cognitive bias#economics#behavioral economics#advertising#marketing#cognitive psychology#associations#associative reasoning#associative memory#memory#thinking#cognition#queue#original content#For the record OP I'm guessing you already know a lot of this#but like. pretending that ads primarily target conscious logico-deductive thinking Drives Me Up The McFucking Wall sometimes#like. the myth that any human is a 'rational agent' does that to me in general#sure okay you can model some kinds of economic behavior as interactions of rational agents#but the ENTIRE FIELD OF ADVERTISING EXISTS TO INFLUENCE PEOPLE NON-RATIONALLY#advertising shapes preferences and can sometimes create entirely new consumer demand

Who’s ur favorite and least favorite twilight character and why?
LOL, oh man. Prepare for Discourse, Anon.
My favourite character is Alice (that might be very obvious). I think she was wasted in Twilight, and that she has so much potential.
She has no recollection of being human. She is a totally blank slate with a gift that is essentially an extra sense or limb. Like, this girl cannot be ‘okay’. I believe in my heart of hearts that Alice functions differently to other people. I mean, I infer from canon that her visions taught her everything that she needed to know - from how to feed, to how to convince Jasper, to how to join the Cullens. She’s going to get the wrong answer? She’ll change what she says!
And that is utterly fucking terrifying - especially if she was aware and doing it intentionally. But I do not think she is, in that sense. I just don’t think she would have any idea of how to live without her visions showing her what to do next. Alice is a hostage to her own gift, and always has been.
Even her interactions with Bella and Edward in canon are really uncanny, like she’s playing a role - which is more reflective of SMeyer’s piss-poor writing ability than any sort of intention - but indicative that Alice is Not Okay, and kind of explains a lot about how the Cullen family is portrayed.
A lot of what I love about Alice, and her relationship with Jasper, are things I’ve absorbed from fan-content - what we can infer from the information we’ve been given. Her conviction about her and Jasper, to me, is beautiful and both terribly childlike, and something someone who has suffered deeply would absolutely cling to as a lifeline. The idea that Jasper isn’t just her husband, but her very best friend and confidant as well, paints such a lovely picture of the symbiosis they have. I think that, whilst it’s normally Poised, Confident Alice to Rescue Struggling Depressed Jasper portrayed in fandom, that there is a distinctive possibility that two individuals who were both fucked over in the gift department and were holding onto reality by a strand found each other and rescued each other might be closer to the truth.
I also LOVE fashion, so I kind of get Alice on that level; and I treat Alice - when I write her - as someone with mental illness (like myself) because I find that very satisfying to write, and to explore. I can PROJECT, which is super fun.
Jasper’s a close second because holy moly, he has so much potential from a fic-writing perspective? This is a man who was not a good person as a human - like, there are Varying Reasons he would join the Confederate Army and be proud of being a Major, but that’s a TOTALLY different piece of discourse so we’ll put a pin in that because statistically, it meant he was a racist fighting for racist ideals. And THEN he is changed into a vampire and joins the Southern Wars, falling further into evil as far as violence, hate, and senseless death goes.
Like this man was a full monster.
And it was eating him alive.
So he just walked away. Alice did not save him. Peter did not save him. Jasper walked away. Peter gave him the opportunity to do so. Alice offered him goals and a way to improve who he is. There’s nothing he can do about the evil he sowed, the legacy he has created. And he has to live with that every single day for eternity. Has to deal with the burn of his thirst, exacberated by years of gorging on human blood, every single day. There is no solution to/for Jasper. It’s one hell or another. And that is so much fun from a fic-writing perspective.
Plus his dynamic with Maria is so crazy fun - Mother? Lover? General? What does ‘good terms’ even mean? I assume it’s code for ‘cold war’ or ‘not actively seeking the other’s destruction’, but who knows. I love that.
Jessamine is also super fun and beloved by me, but that’s because she’s either Jasper-derivitive or my particular portrayal of a separate character, so she doesn’t count.
As for my least favourite, that honour goes to Edward. Full disclosure, I have not read Midnight Sun, only skimmed parts, because the only thing worse than that would be reading EdBella fic.
I think he’s an arrogant, misogynistic, controlling little brat, honestly. He’s above the rules and the laws when it suits him - at the cost to everyone - and he condemns Rosalie and Jasper so quickly and thoroughly with very little in-text justification.
He says that Rosalie is vain - well, Captain Dipshit, maybe after being violently and fatally gang-raped by a group including her fiance Rosalie might deal with a lot of body issues - and copes with them the best way she can. Maybe after being raised with a priority of being beautiful above all else, and then harmed in such a grotesque way because of her beauty, and then becoming more beautiful might fuck with your mental health a little, Eddie.
Edward has a bad habit of classifying women in absolutes like Madonna/Whore, depending on his personal beliefs - which, as a frozen 17 year old from the 1900s, is fairly goddamn dubious. Rosalie and Tanya are both ‘bad’, Esme, Alice, and Bella are all ‘good’. But there are no women that Edward fully ‘trusts’ or allows to ‘win’/direct him. He prizes Bella because of her unreadable mind - she is a puzzle and something to possess. They are never partners. Edward uses Alice, Who Tries Her Very Best, as a weapon against Bella multiple times. I often wonder if it isn’t Edward who encourages Alice, off-page/off-screen, to play dress-ups, to make Bella into what Edward expects in a wife.
Edward is over-indulged by both Esme and Carlisle; honestly, with his gift, I wouldn’t be surprised if he manipulates the family into their slightly toxic dynamic (it’s hard to tell because of SMeyer’s obvious bias, and the perspective of the novels) because it benefits him so much. It puts him second only to Carlisle - Jasper cannot be trusted despite his comprehensive understanding of vampires, especially when it comes to turf battles, and Emmett’s just a frat boy. Or is this the portrait Edward has painted so he gets to be #1 Son?
Edward is the goddamn architect of every disaster the Cullens face because what he wants is dangerous and illegal. Without Edward’s Volterra Tantrum, Aro never would have challenged the Cullens in Breaking Dawn. Victoria’s attack would have been neutralised before the Cullens even got wind of it. Bella never would have gone cliff-diving or solo-hiking if Edward hadn’t dumped her in the cruelest way possible.
I honestly, truly believe that Edward shouldn’t have had a mate, let alone a wife and child.
Also, movie!Edward looked like he needed a fucking shower and a flea dip in nearly every scene.
Bella’s a close second because I have known girls like Bella and fuck me, they are deeply unpleasant to be friends with. She fucks over EVERYONE in pursuit of Edward. I understand that she doesn’t have the same interests as Alice, but not once just she make a suggestion for an alternative activity or a compromise (and that could be Bad Writing again, because Bella appears to have very few hobbies beyond ‘reading’ but it’s what we’re working with).
In fact, I would argue that Alice tries her very best to be Bella’s friend, but it’s a futile attempt - Bella tolerates Alice because of Alice’s proximity to Edward. If Alice had been a human student at Forks High, you can bet that Bella would have dumped her as fast as possible. Bella has very few moments where she’s positive about the people around her outside of the Cullens (by association with Edward) or Jacob. Charlie gets mostly pity. Everyone else is looked upon with disapproval and judgement (which, again, reflects toxic writing tropes.)
And Bella martyrs herself at every opportunity. There’s a lot of discourse where Bella’s neglectful childhood is examined, but Bella fucking lunges into the ‘victim’ role at every possibility. And ultimately, I really don’t see Bella maturing or learning anything at all through the series. It’s always about what she wants, above everything else. She succeeds because she and Edward are incredibly selfish individuals who are enabled by the parental figures around them.
Second runner-up is Carlisle.

the cornerstone of self-idolization and lack of self-preservation: our ex-twt stan + has a cc as a sibling rant
preface: my system joined mcyttwt a while back (i can't remember exact times due to personal reasons) and it genuinely contributed to the downfall and spiral of our mental health in the past year. especially from my perspective as a protecter alter, i saw the brunt of things that stressed us to the point of detriment. our sibling has half a million followers on some platforms (not mcyt) and we have seen firsthand through him how pressure from online can affect ccs. (we will not be speaking on his experience as they probably do not want us to publically.) also sorry if this is a little incoherent we had a seizure this morning- this is just to get everything off our chest.
DEHUMANIZATION + STANDARDS:
b4 i start here's the dictionary definition of dehumanization: "transitive verb. : to deprive (someone or something) of human qualities, personality, or dignity: such as. a : to subject (someone, such as a prisoner) to inhuman or degrading conditions or treatment "… you treat people with respect, you get respect back." + heres smth from brenebrown.com "Maiese defines dehumanization as “the psychological process of demonizing the enemy, making them seem less than human and hence not worthy of humane treatment.” Dehumanizing often starts with creating an enemy image."
the dehumanization of content creators on mcyttwt is disgusting. they are placed on pedestals and expected to walk on eggshells when creating their own content and writing THEIR OWN tweets and messages- they are expected to drop FRIENDS over what teenagers on twitter who don't know them personally thought of them. they were expected to respond to death-threats and criticism and harassment with a big smile and an apology for whatever they did. they are people who are not treated as people by stan twitter- they are treated as higher-than while simultaneously lesser-than when they are normal people who make mistakes. this is not okay. having interpersonal relationships + making mistakes & learning from them are basic parts of life that these content creators are being stripped of by twitter's cesspool of a community and it's so blatant and disgusting that they are faced with daily swarms of harassment for simply making mistakes + making friends + having lives while making content.
(side-note: another form of dehumanization is the fact that twitter consistently strips people of their privacy and private lives. cc or not you are expected to put everything about yourself out there [face included ie: selfie day] and that's blatantly unsafe for minors and adults alike. the way they dig into personal histories and pasts and relationships while simultaneously preaching "respect boundaries" is disgusting and deplorable.)
twitter's policy of "i stan this person, i like their content" while simultaneously harassing the ones that they claim to enjoy content from is confusing at best. it is detrimental to any cc's health. the villianization of ccs is fucking ridiculous.
WHITE SAVIORS:
coming from a poc person, twitter has a rampant disgusting problem with white saviors 👍🏼. i don't even need to get into it, everyones seen it and you all know. also i'm not even getting into how mcyttwt treats mexicans 👍🏼 i'm not your little maraca drug cartel "ayyy man" meow meow, emily.
white people on twitter: we are not your toy for activism. we are not yours to use to excuse your harassment of real people. fuck you. shut up. let us speak for ourselves and uplift our voices when we ask. (also stop with the "ugh 🙄 white people" shit. we're talking about you ❤️.)
PERFORMATIVE ACTIVISM:
twitter preaches to not be performaitve in lifting up voice and then is preformaitve.
there's countless threads that are out there just for clicks and likes (ie. "things not to say to a trans person" *states the most obvious shit like 'don't call them their agab'*) for fucking popularity. it's all the time, people chase clout under the guise of pretending to care about minorities. it's sickening, especially when they bring race or ethnicity into these threads for their ""activism"".
MISOGYNY:
twitter's gender bias is again, blatant.
female ccs will call out the same behaviors male ccs get praised for calling out and will get degraded and put down and have their name trending under "[name] neg //" for hours after the tweet is sent, they'll be harassed for days afterward and shamed. their bodies will be judged by fucking randoms who have no place saying anything (women aren't objects!). they get shit for the same thing male ccs do with no consequences. it's disgusting, it's blatant, and it's not being talked about or addressed.
PERSONAL AFFECTS:
it never allowed for enjoying content. it was contestant stressful pressure to keep up with every minute and miniscule detail of what a cc did, constantly choosing sides and never being allowed to speak outside of what the collective group on twitter thought. having an opinion other than "this is wrong and should be the downfall of this human person" was not allowed. there was an issue every day, we felt like we couldn't say we enjoyed anything without someone coming in our dms like "um.. did you know [insert something mildly problematic]... you should delete that post about liking them." and god forbid when "cc neg //" would trend because everyone couldn't maturely move on from something that wasn't a big deal. twitter has made my system SPLIT NEW ALTERS because of the stress and obligation we felt to keep up with every minute detail. (albeit we are polyfrag and prone to splitting, and our co-host at the time was an emotionally volatile dream introject during a very dream-critical time. that still doesn't excuse the toxic environment that caused the splits in the first place :|.)
what twitter does to people- especially ccs, is unsafe and unpleasant at best and traumatizing at worst. these people need to grow the up, put on their big boy pants and realize that not everything is about them.
all of this is off the top of my head too :| we've been waiting to rant about this since we got ON twitter. this doesn't even scratch the surface of the abelism and babying of ND ppl or people with disabilities + the other horrid shit that happens on that app.
tl;dr twitter touch fucking grass and do it FAST holy shit. please go outside and talk to people. get a job. read a book. do some math or something idk.

hi! I love your lost lagoon reviews :) reading the last one, I was interested in your take of Cass and Eugene's relationship in TTS, but I felt that maybe it's more nuanced than "cass makes legitimate criticism and eugene insults her"? There *are* moments which show us that Cass is not helplessly being insulted for being right, but does go out of her way to annoy Eugene (I have in mind specifically her seating him at the kids' table in BEA and the eviction letters she apparently sent him, which show that she's not only reacting but also can be unpleasant to him just for the sake of it, because she doesn't like him much at that point). It's not really a counterpoint, I do think you're right, but it read a lot as if she was helpless in their animosity, and that's not exactly how I see it, so I wanted to ask you about it more! Hope that's okay
oh yeah there’s def moments where cass acts in retaliatory ways or lashes out or loses her temper - & like i said in the post itself i don’t think she’s necessarily *bothered* by the insults per se so much as they create this cumulative dynamic where eugene has sort of blinded himself to the reality that cassandra does have feelings and that contributes to the problem, in s2, of cassandra’s relationships with *everyone* on team corona becoming very toxic for her! she’s def not like - i wouldn’t call what eugene does bullying and i wouldn’t describe cass as a victim of bullying, because she can give as good as she gets.
my point was more - i feel like tts broadly frames the conflict as a completely equitable thing. in cassandra vs eugene, the whole conflict begins when: 1. eugene asks cass to borrow her halberd, 2. cass says no, 3. eugene takes it anyway and shaves with it and purposely leaves his hair all over it so that cass will KNOW he messed with her stuff after she explicitly told him not to, 4. cass blows up at him, and 5. eugene escalates the argument by telling her she shouldn’t be upset because she should have known he wouldn’t listen when she said no. but - rapunzel’s point of view on this conflict is “cass and eugene can’t stand each other and keep picking petty fights, they just need to spend some bonding time together!” and that point of view is ultimately validated by the narrative. it’s clear that eugene thinks he deserves an apology from cass because she got mad at him, and he’s never taken to task for this. he never apologizes for stealing her stuff, but cass goes out of his way to cover up HIS mistakes, which happened because he stole one of her weapons and screwed around with it like it was a toy.
like eugene is, clearly, demonstrably, objectively the instigator - but the narrative acts as if *cass* is equally, if not perhaps even a little more, responsible for their argument? it’s weird. anyways
then there’s the tts fandom which in general i think has a tendency to gloss over the crummy things eugene does to cass, and then turn around and say: why does cass hate him so much? why is she so mean to him? poor eugene, cass is bullying him :(
and then you get stuff like lost lagoon / the popular fanon that cass hates eugene because she has a bias against “criminals,” which, like i said, takes that tendency a step further to frame eugene as a victim of cassandra’s bigotry. it drives me nuts, because - while yes they both do jerkish things to each other, and cass is not above retaliating in petty ways - i think *overall,* eugene treats her a lot worse than she treats him, and i read her moments of pettiness as coming from a place of frustration with how unrelentingly awful this guy is to her at the beginning and hitting back at him however she can. (he is, after all, the princess’s consort and has clearly been given carte blanche to act however he wants, which limits puts a degree of restriction on how cassandra handles him - like, i don’t think she could have gone to crowley and been like “the princess’s boyfriend is harassing me, make him stop” and had that enforced in any significant way. so she puts him at the kid’s table [implication: eugene is childish and rude and doesn’t deserve to sit with the adults] and gives him fake eviction notices and finds otherwise to passive aggressively suggest he Doesn’t Belong in the palace instead.)
and of course cassandra’s pettier or passive aggressive behaviors toward him taper off even faster than does her criticism, pretty much as soon as she develops a modicum of respect for him .
also, again like i said, once they settle their differences i really don’t think cass is bothered by his insults - the snarky banter becomes part of their relationship and she makes little jokes at his expense too, like when she makes fun of his goatee in rapunzel’s enemy.
which i guess tldr my stance here isn’t cass is blameless and eugene is picking on her so much as it is eugene is an ass to her at first, and i think he is significantly nastier to her in the first few episodes of s1 than she is to him, and when she insults him it’s 95% of the time about actionable behavior, not intrinsic things, and so i read her overall hostility towards him as her going “this dude is a jerk and i’m going to treat him with the respect he deserves,” as opposed to eugene evidently not liking her because she’s “icy” or “joyless”

Silence is a strange thing to those with emotions-- almost hypocritically self absorbed. It is not truly silent, is it?
They are not in a vacuum. The sound of their footfalls bounces quietly off of smooth walls-- each of them adding a unique ambiance to the mix. Lights buzz overhead. No matter how efficient they became, it still remained in reploid hearing range. There is the distant noise of monitors in a room they pass. The hum, however subtle, of cores burning energy in their chests.
Still, with all that surrounds them, silence is an agony. A lifetime. This too, is an affliction that the OVER could never grapple with before. The grueling sensation of anticipation. Utterly unknown to a being that perceived the flow of time itself, and yet... he is enmeshed in its weight.
The X's voice only mildly quells the discomfort. Unfortunate. The more is said, the more they slow. It is pure physics, emotions have weight, mass creates drag.
'You wouldn't feel this way'. I don't know what this is; Verse wants to protest, another physiological reaction. It takes focus, not to squeeze the hand in his own tighter, mildly relieved as Psi does it for him.
For once, the sound of a sigh escapes the OVER-unit. His mind his racing, the web of possibilities vibrating and shifting with each moment of struggle. Even I am entangled by the red strings of fate.
"...yes, I suppose that logic is sound." His gaze drifts away from the eyes that can't meet his, to the the place they are connecting. "To some degree, I must always possess a bias for you. A... fondness, although I... cannot claim to understand it, even now." They are in agreement then. "...and I will admit the psychosomatic effects of this experience are most unpleasant." That each mental shift carried with it a host of physical symptoms-- ...is that normal? Horrible.
"I accept your apology... but you are wrong about one aspect." A morbid topic to broach, especially now, and it must be tread carefully. "I already know what will happen to you. Every single way that it has, or will end." A lone witness to those that already came to pass, unremembered. "I have no need to ask of your past, and I have no need to prepare for your future." A simple fact, even though the implications are callous.
Perhaps that is my true nature.
I have seen every tragedy possible, and felt nothing for it. Even now, I do not fear your passing.
I still can't.
"Inevitability exists, even for me, Psi." I will not be swayed from my duties, even for you. "Until that day comes, I would humbly request we continue to share what precious time you have."
Silence meets the reploid for a moment, an eternity, a few seconds. Psi stares forward, because there is nothing left to do but wait for his own feelings to subside. Being this vulnerable was a hindrance, a reputation gained on masks and smiles, goofy jabs and jester laughs. No one pried when they were amused.
But equally it had been no mystery to Verse. Verse, who knew his whole lifespan like it was a documentary with no dialogue. Verse, whose perspective was a forced neutral, picked as a Guardian to watch all lives in the same manner.
Anyone’s lives were a rollercoaster of tragedy and parody. He was no different, a comedy made of a thousand unfortunate agonies. To Verse, all the reasons the X chose to hide his true feelings was as painfully obvious as Rock’s vehement hatred for humans were, why Cale had worked himself until his dying breath, why Xanti had taken up the dangerous field where the average lifespan was 15 seconds. The apples never fell far from the tree, and apparently they didn’t land far from each other either.
“No, I do have a reason to apologize.” Unquantifiable to Verse, even now. “I agreed to those terms because I didn’t mind them. You can’t get attached to things in a regular way.” Much like what he’s seen of MZ, actually. A strange it happened twice analogy.
“But I don’t know if you’ve realized this, but there’s something you’re missing that was only made clear from this sabotage attempt.” He’s still walking, but only because stopping would throw everything away. “I was avoiding attachment, was hoping that you would be the only person who wouldn’t care if something happened to me.” Because it was a gut feeling, that something always would.
“It seems I was wrong.”
“Verse. You having feelings for me now suggests that there was something before you gained this ability to feel.” As short-lived as it would be. “Somehow you formed a bias. You had to, because if there wasn’t one, you wouldn’t magically feel this way the moment you’d been compromised, nor will it go away the moment your systems recover.” Ironic, and so very… sad, but was it more for Psi or the OVER he was partnered with?
His steps slow, the loud echo of their aimless pace waning. “So for that– I want to apologize.” He’s squeezing his boyfriend’s hand, but unable to look back directly. “Both for doing that to you, and… not wanting you to stop despite my own reservations.” The smile that follows is pained at best.
“I’m sorry.”

Dude I just saw unfriended:dark web and now I'm even more paranoid than I was with internet shit but more than anything I'm just very very depressed about how many ppl out there are into torture, pedophilia and murder. I always thought that there were like maybe 10% of the world that was like that but that like most people were good in some way or another but I was just talking with ppl and it seems that everyone disagrees and think is the other way around. Was I living in a bubble of optimism? Are there so many fuckinf murders and pedophiles around? I'm literally losing my mind over this so if you had to shoot a number over how much of the world's population is made of murderers/pedophiles/psychopaths what would it be?
Honest opinion and all
I have absolutely no way of knowing the answer to that, I'm afraid. there are so many different variables there, and a lot of data that would need to be crunched. far beyond the capability of one Tumblr clown to adequately draw a conclusion from, though I'm willing to bet the true number is somehow both more than you'd think and also much less than you'd assume. remember that the world is addicted to bad news. for some reason the horror and cruelty of human beings grips attention far more than anything pleasant. for that reason, we're bombarded with tales of murder and other unpleasant subjects 24/7, and not much else. it creates somewhat of an information bias.
I think a lot of people are pessimistic with these kinds of things. a lot of people think the worst of humanity, yet if so many people were actually murderers or paedophiles in disguise, the statistics would be even higher than they are now. which isn't to say that the number is "low enough" and we shouldn't be worried; just that a lot of people have a very doom-ridden idea of the world that statistics don't match. even taking unreported cases into consideration, the reported cases are the bottom line and would be influenced by the greater overall number. there are nasty people out there, but many of them are serial offenders. this means that while there might be a spate of murders in the dozens, or several cases of child abuse, it's the same few people behind it rather than dozens of individuals. one crime does not equal one seperate criminal. the same small group will be doing most of the work, meaning that despite high crime rates the number of actual dangerous people is much, much lower.
finally, try not to worry too much when it comes to films, creepypasta, etc. dark web stories are hugely exaggerated. yes, that shit is out there, but I know people who have lurked around on the dark web or whatever for years and they've never stumbled across anything more alarming than some edgelord pretending to be a hitman. according to investigative journalists working on the issue, the real paedophile sites are buried very deep and password protected/imvite only (and often FBI plants), and as for the so-called Red Rooms, there's huge debate over whether or not they're even real. to be honest, when it comes to paedophilia online I'd be more worried about regular chatrooms, closed Facebook groups, and the hordes of QAnon conspiracy theorists who actively share images to "know what they're looking for" and what they're "fighting against".

If I might ask: regarding Ghidorah's backstory in 'Abraxas', it at first looked to me when San revealed Ghidorah's origin like Ghidorah is an omnicidal maniac because it's a perpetual cosmic case of put-them-all-out-of-my-misery, but then San-2's straw-nihilist speech in Ch.11 confused me a bit. Has Ghidorah turned into a straw-nihilist after Ichi hurting Vivienne didn't satisfy them, making them more dangerous than ever; or was Ghidorah's mindset already like that and it's a bit like Jonah?
So I kinda got a little bit carried away...
Ghidorah’s straw-nihilism has its roots when they first destroyed the alien civilization that created them, out of revenge for the torture inflicted on them. Maybe what little remnants of the small creatures that became Ghidorah wondered, as lost children do, why? What was the purpose of it all? The answer would be the same, drilled into them by minds that lacked the imagination for anything beyond violence: Kill Them All. But why? They did nothing to us. Kill Them All. There must be a reason why. There must be meaning to it. Kill Them All.
The answer that was hammered into them in waking and dreaming, and in places where the line between them is impossible to tell where one ends and the other begins: Kill Them All. Kill Them All. Kill Them ALL. Never ending, never silent, what possible meaning Kill Them All. why? Kill Them All. Never ending, never silent, always thundering in their ears and taking root in their brains Kill Them All. that’s not an answer what is the answer KILL Them All. Kill Them All. Kill Them All. give us an ANSWER or be SILENT! Kill Them All. Kill Them All. Kill Them All shut up! Shut up! Shut UP! Kill Them ALL. enough! no more! Kill Them All. Kill Them All. BE SILENT or i will MAKE YOU SILENT! Kill Them All. Kill Them All. Kill Them All. if we kill them will they be silent? Kill Them All. Kill Them All. we will Kill Them All and they will be silent! Kill Them all. so many minds! all talking! all dying! Kill Them All. SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP! I WILL KILL THEM ALL but why must we kill them all WHAT DOES IT MATTER IF WE KILL THEM ALL THEY WILL BE SILENT
...ad nauseum, ad infinitum, et cetera.
Maybe that whole KILL THEM ALL mental reprogramming eventually faded away into the depths of their consciousness(es), maybe it just lost all meaning and turned into white noise or something like tinnitus. It’s not the answer they wanted, because that was just orders. Ghidorah thought by paying evil unto evil, eliminating the little nasties (that probably enjoy taking cattle prods to that planet’s equivalent of puppies for all we know), that the noise would stop and they could figure things out, maybe get some satisfaction over ridding that world of some evil. There was no satisfaction. There was nothing to be gained from the destruction. Nothing... but the incessant buzzing whispering at the back of each skull: kill them all. kill them all. kill them all. No satisfaction. No reason. No meaning. Just little ones screaming mindlessly before silence takes them. It’s almost insulting how unsatisfactory their destruction was... maybe it was too quick. Maybe that’s why. Surely if they have another go and be thorough about it, maybe they’ll get some satisfaction.
The mind can do some impressive gymnastics to deal with one’s actions. Surely, if one does what one does and treats it as unpleasant but necessary, it’s not so bad. Just have to get used to it. But as one gets used to it, one grows desensitized to it, and the horrors eventually become kind of normal. It’s only a matter of time before the horror becomes... fun. In the immortal words of one Mendicant Bias:
"I kill you all and I enjoy it. I destroy you in you indolent billions--in your gluttony, in your self-righteousness, in your arrogance. I pound your cities into dust; turn back the clock on your civilization's progress. What has taken you millennia to achieve I erase in seconds. Welcome back to the [Stone Age], vermin. Welcome home."
