If you’re gonna care about prison abolition and justice you are necessarily going to have to care about the people who DID do those crimes and just want to reintegrate and live a normal life without hurting anyone. You're gonna have to be cool with the fact that the guy scanning your groceries might’ve raped someone. You're gonna have to relax about the possibility that your bank teller used to be a career criminal. The person sitting next to you on the bus might’ve committed three different murders, and as long as he's not about to commit a fourth right now, that's not your fuckin' problem. People don't disappear from society after they commit crimes, and most of them really just want to live a normal, stable life instead of going back to that. And the best way to make sure they don't relapse is to ensure they're able to live that peaceful life instead of freaking out because the guy next door used to run a dogfighting ring. You don’t have to be friends with them, you don't even have to like them, but you're gonna need to be okay with them existing in society. Sorry.

Just Like You

It was supposed to be a normal vacation.

Just a road trip around the east coast with his best friends and his older sister before the 3 of them all separated to their respective universities.

No dangerous ghosts to fight or trap in the Ghost Zone. No GIW to hide from. And best of all, no needing to show off his ghost side for any danger.

For once Danny got to just relax and let the heroes handle everything! And he has got to say, it was definitely something he wishes he could do more often.

There was no way anything could happen, right?

WRONG

Danny honestly should have known the calm wouldn't have lasted very long. Being a halfa tends to bring unwanted attention from the dead no matter where he ends up going. And it wasn't like he could just go and turn this ability off.

They had originally combatted that by avoiding the more ghost infested cities. Places like Gotham, Bludhaven, Ivy Town, etc. And while it did suck to take those places off of their schedule it was genuinely for the betterment of their No Ghosts Allowed (Except Danny) Trip.

But even that didn't really stop the dead from approaching, unfortunately.

He had died and the dead tended to be interested in how he managed to shake that death title off to still be alive. At least half way, anyways.

Danny didn't mind the curiosity but it was kind of irritating to deal with as the vacation continued on. That was why he had no real regrets for glaring down a girl, who was very obviously a ghost in her solid form, as she scanned him over from the other side of the street.

Despite this, the girl didn't seem to care. She continued to try peering into his core from across the street, trying to see what exactly was off about him and it was pissing Danny off to no end. Her friends, a dark haired teenage boy wearing Superman merch and a blonde girl with pigtails, tugged on her shoulder and arm to try and snap her out of it but it didn't do much.

With no real warning for his friends and sister, he took off straight to the girl and her friends table and stared back at her even more. He knew they'd be following behind him anyways, they always did.

"Can I help you?" He glowered, eyes pinched together as she seemed to finally come to a conclusion to whatever she was thinking about now that he was at the table with them.

The girl breezed through the table before Danny could even blink, floating above him for a second before she started to circle him excitedly.

"You're just like me!" The girl brightened at the sight of him, before turning to look at her group of friends and gesturing to him again. "Birdie he's like me!"

Danny could only stiffen as all eyes around the table turned to look over him and a different black haired teen eyed him suspiciously, presumably Birdie, as he nodded.

"Yeah Suz," Danny heard the boy agree alongside the approaching footsteps of his own family getting close behind him.

"Just like you"

Byler paralleling the canon romantic pairings in the show and outside of the show says so much- Like the parallels within the show speak for themselves and the parallels outside of the show whether intentional or not still have merit. Because you're able to compare and see similarities between a romantic pair and friends? Cmon. The tropes that are used and all of the scenes from other shows and movies set up their characters in a romantic way and in those shows/movies you can see that, you're supposed to see that. It's the whole point of those scenes and what you're supposed to take away from them. It's all to set up a relationship later on. The Duffer brother's aren't stupid, they can't honestly set Byler up in so many scenes using popular, classic romance tropes, all for it to be nothing but two really good friends-

in recon by fire when laswell gets abducted, did shepherd tip off al-qatala that she'd be there? bc wasn't it a cartel outpost? why was al-qatala there? i know they were working together but why is it al-qatala specifically that takes her instead of it being a group effort?

it would be a huge benefit to have laswell, and by extension price and gaz, out of the picture while he scrambles to fix his mess since she is pretty much his biggest obstacle (and knows it which is why he’s so quick to not let her near the missiles)

the way he tries to drag out her rescue - "we can't just send in the cavalry, these things take planning and preparation" - only to agree to send price and gaz by themselves, presumably thinking it would just be them (since he doesn’t seem to believe in allies or trust) and they'd either take a long time and be preoccupied or fail to get her back altogether and die in the process

it takes these huge pieces off the board; other than the missiles themselves his only obstacle is ghost and soap and his next step is to take them out. the way he doesn't hesitate to put them under a kill order makes you think he expected the other half of the 141 to also be dead

What if Yugo never had a growth spurt because of Toross?

It’s strange to admit, but it needs to be said: Yugo’s growth would not have happened if his mother hadn’t returned. So if there's no eliatrope mommy, there's no toross going after Yugo's ass. Toross would never have been able to escape his prison if Nora hadn’t come along to try to rescue her mother.

Like think about the remarkable timing of witnessing this woman abruptly enter without any warning. She could have returned to the Inglorium hundreds or even thousands of years later.

I'm not saying it's impossible that she came back so soon. I'm just saying that there was also a high possibility that she couldn't have come on time when Yugo needed her to get to Toross.

The odds were 50/50 really. She could've come back anytime.

So let's say, for this hypothetical situation, the Eliatrope goddess didn't arrive on time. Now what? Yugo and his group would've been...stuck??

None of the demigods would have known how to return. Not even Dathura could do so without Sadida's magic flute. Since the gods would not be present to detect their arrival, they wouldn’t be able to help them escape from their realm. This indicates that entering the Inglorium requires the use of an artifact belonging to a god, an otherworldly object like a mechasm's heart, a dofus, or simply being a god. Similarly, leaving the Inglorium necessitates using one of the same means mentioned for entry.

So like....they're fucked??

Not having the Eliatrope goddess to take them back with portals means they would officially be stuck there. Damn.

And since the Inglorium is the realm of the gods, everyone except Yugo and the other demigods will not age. Oropo wanted to include mortals like Arpagone, Ruel, and Flopin because he understood that once they took on the place of their corresponding gods in Inglorium, the realm would be able to completely halt their aging.

As if that wasn't enough, their only connection to the World of Twelve will be through the gods' library, which records the lives of all living mortals in real-time.

Chibi and Grougal will grow up without Yugo, Adamaï, and eventually Alibert. They will have to manage the inn by themselves.

Armand will rule the kingdom and have an heir with Aurora. He will come to resent Amalia for never returning to him and for not witnessing their father's death as he called for her.

Kamasutar Junior will grow old and die without ever seeing Ruel again, just like how Az and his family will never see Yugo.

Madagaskan would only have been able to find Cleophee. She would have learned about him but would also be just as confused and anxious about where her sister and family went.

Ogrest would feel confused and saddened that he would not see Elely and Flopin anymore, while Otomaï would try to comfort him, genuinely wondering where they could have all gone.

The island of Irene would be left unprotected for a long time without Coqueline, leaving Yrehn alone with the Elante.

Poo would take care of the percedal family's home. As much as he would wonder where they are, he won't have anywhere else to go to, so he'll have no choice but to stay there for who knows how long.

There would have been no traces of the Brotherhood, and no one would have known if they were even alive in the first place. The people would likely have turned them into an old myth by then.

The Brotherhood would have been aware of everything their loved ones were doing by reading each of their mortal books, but they would have been powerless to intervene.

Time would have taken its natural course, and the group would have built their own places in the realm while living in constant fear, confusion, and horror at the idea of not being able to return without any artifact.

When the Eliatrope goddess finally arrives, it will be too late for anyone to reunite with their loved ones in the World of Twelve. Everyone will have already passed away, except for Chibi and Grougal, who will most likely feel betrayed by Yugo and Adamaï.

I think it's safe to say that Walpurgisnacht is Homura and this movie will show how she created it.

Corphyeus did feel like a mustache twirling villain at the end of DAI but at least they gave him that cool speech "I saw the throne of heaven and it was empty! God is dead and we killed him! I will lead the flock back to the righteous path now that I know the truth™" but Elgarn'an and Ghilian'nan?? Their whole raison d'etre is 'blighted gods do evil shit' that's it. Meredith had a red lyrium Idol driving her insane, but that is not the whole reason she becomes evil. She had to witness her 7 yr mage sister become possessed by a demon and burn down her house killing her whole family in the process. That causes her to follow the Templar Order, gives her a very negative outlook on mages, and makes her strict in her governance of Kirkwall's circle because she believes she is doing the right thing by protecting mages from themselves. The idol just speeds up the process of her become more and more paranoid about mages, and one can argue, she wasn't entirely wrong about the mage situation in Kirkwall (see crazy serial killer necromancer running around for two whole acts). If they weren't going to do anything interesting with Elgarn'an and Ghilian'nan then they should've dropped them and focused solely on Solas.
