Okay as someone who never did the solas romance in DAI but imported a solavallen inky in datv this is really how it felt 😂 I love tragic shit, I love it when a character doesn’t realize the path to hell is paved with good intentions! I love love loved the ending where they fuck off forever into the black city but why the fuck was Mythal the one who convinced him? Like 🧍🧍🧍 if they just cut that part out I would say it’s a solid ending

I finished Lady of the Lake (Witcher series) the other day and honestly?? It got me thinking about Taash and how they would’ve worked well if the stakes of the game were lower (we never get to explore their feelings on being a Qunari in Rivain thier problems with gender could’ve hit harder if we got more time). Like in Lady of the lake Geralt is meeting all these different characters and forming bonds while the main stake is finding Ciri. So much of the companions stuff just feels like junk filler you got to get out of the way to deal with Elgarnan and Ghil. The bones for something good is there in datv but it’s not explored in any meaningful way :(
EDIT: I guess an example I could give is what if solas incites a slave revolt in Minrathos increasing his strength and we need to find allies elsewhere like in Seheron. We know Seheron and the Qunari have been at war with Tevinter since forever and Taash is introduced to us then.

Corphyeus did feel like a mustache twirling villain at the end of DAI but at least they gave him that cool speech "I saw the throne of heaven and it was empty! God is dead and we killed him! I will lead the flock back to the righteous path now that I know the truth™" but Elgarn'an and Ghilian'nan?? Their whole raison d'etre is 'blighted gods do evil shit' that's it. Meredith had a red lyrium Idol driving her insane, but that is not the whole reason she becomes evil. She had to witness her 7 yr mage sister become possessed by a demon and burn down her house killing her whole family in the process. That causes her to follow the Templar Order, gives her a very negative outlook on mages, and makes her strict in her governance of Kirkwall's circle because she believes she is doing the right thing by protecting mages from themselves. The idol just speeds up the process of her become more and more paranoid about mages, and one can argue, she wasn't entirely wrong about the mage situation in Kirkwall (see crazy serial killer necromancer running around for two whole acts). If they weren't going to do anything interesting with Elgarn'an and Ghilian'nan then they should've dropped them and focused solely on Solas.

Another thing that doesn't quite make sense to me in Veilguard is, what the heck happened to all of Solas's agents? Didn't he brag to the Inquisitor about how he had agents and spies all over Thedas?? But we don't encounter even a single one the entire game. What's that about?

while i am having fun there are So many parts of veilguard that are for lack of a better term, cringe, to listen to. like the devs kept saying how they wanted it to be enjoyable for new players but sometimes its like they're catering to people that dont know what a video game is. why are the characters in game repeatedly saying that everyone needs to work through their personal issues before main questlines. every character therapy speaks it feels so out of place. maybe i just miss everyone being unhinged like in da2 (and being aware of their flaws but dealing with them in, my opinion, more realistic ways) idk. everyone is too self aware its very weird to me

its kinda wild that all datv has done to most ppl is make them say ' i miss origins/2/inquisition '

me: i sure hope the crows are not gonna be solely depicted in veilguard as a brave force who 'fight for all' when they are at their core a criminal organization who is known to buy children to indoctrinate them and turn them into assassins, by putting them in overcrowded warehouses and making them fight for scrapes in order not to starve, to later torture those who reach adulthood to finish their initiations and kill them anyways if they dare to try getting out

She even mentions Cullen being alive even if she had to put him out of his misery in DAI😔
the fact that bioware wrote in a line from harding mentioning sera by name about her being part of the inquisition despite the fact that you can choose to not recruit her which effectively overwrites a player's canon and establishes a bioware canon that sera joins the inquisition????? meanwhile zevran cannot even be mentioned by name at all !?!?!?

I can't be the only one who thinks it's so lame that spite ultimately had 0 effect on lucanis whereas the writers made anders suffer for just wanting to live.

the ego that you have to have as a writer, to scorched earth destroy what has been left to you… in the context of dragon age too, where the player builds the world. to render every decision made as completely pointless and unimportant. it’s appalling. it’s pure ego
it’s an insult to the fans, the franchise, the writers that came before
