sometimes I feel like I've overcorrected on the unhealthy relationships in media thing because there is so much nauseating bullshit out there that people present as aspirational, which is kind of a shame because a lot of the most interesting fictional relationships are absolute nightmares and it's a real gift to see them appreciated by people who understand the nuances and the appeal

Some more Black Myth Wukong Destined One x reader / OC / self-insert / whatever-floats-your-boat thoughts
***** Black Myth: Wukong Ending Spoilers *****
While I know that in the true ending, the Destined Ones inherits all of Wukong's power and skill and memories and is basically the Monkey King reincarnated, I still kinda see them as two separate beings?
Especially in terms of shipping Destined One x reader LMFAO. IDK I just think this has a potential to be angsty or ending in a tragedy, like yeah you have heard stories of the great Monkey King (or not, depending on your character's backstory). But the monkey you are traveling with doesn't seem anything like the Great Sage you have heard so much about. It's hard to tell what he is thinking or wants but with time you learn how to read the Destined One (see my other hc here). This is the monkey you've been traveling with for some time, protecting you, listening to your woes and shower thoughts. Who made sure you were fed and safe and warm at night.
What does it mean then when he inherits all of Wukong's power and will and memories? Is his personality slowly gonna shift to be more and more like the monkey king's? Did the Destined One ever had a free will on his own? In the game when you die, a lot of times enemies will say "oh you are nothing like him" and that it is also not the first time the Destined One has been here (which I guess is tied to one of the game's ending). I think it's just kinda sad that the purpose of his entire existence is to go find the 6 relics, and then inherit Sun Wukong's memories and be basically the Monkey King reincarnated.
So I'm writing this with my OC in mind, but I feel like if she learns that his whole journey at the end is to become Sun Wukong and be his reincarnation, idk she is gonna absorb that information well. It may suddenly feel like you never really knew the Destined One at all? Was there ever a chance for you to be with him or be together? Once the Destined One inherits all of Sun Wukong's memories, will he still feel the same way about her? will he remember all the good times and bad times and ugly times they went through? I feel like there would be a whole new adjustment period lmfao. ofc this can all still end in a happy ending way, but right now my brain is just stuck in how sad this could also potentially be.
I think part of the reason why I also feel this way is because I am generally not a fan of the whole "past person reincarnated" trope (love isekai though).
I do love the game's ending as it is, but in terms of shipping with an OC or whatever (which is what I always do when I ✨ obsess ✨ over a fictional character), it's not my favorite
anyway yeah, I'm not good with putting my thoughts into words so I hope it makes sense what I'm trying to say

stolen planets
this is a minor point of order, mostly unrelated to the stuff about the River that I'm trying to get to later, but it's an idea I've never seen anyone post about in their consideration of John's empire and agenda.
early on in AYU, while dwelling on her miserable slog through convalescence, Judith mentions overhearing an inscrutable bit of BOE slang:
The stomach pouch was removed on a previous excursion to what they said was an abandoned “steal planet.” I understand that they use the word “steal” for what we would term “shepherd.”
I say slang because why else would you use the present tense verb in place of a past-tense adjective here, if not as colloquialism? however, this slang appears nowhere in NTN, where we spend great chunks of time airing out BOE vernacular.
Reading between the lines a bit, we can easily guess what the BOE troops meant by "steal", because they spend the rest of the short story trying to get Judith connected to one:
The ship was a Gorgon-class vehicle... it was the last time they had tried to design a light craft that still had room for a stele. Blood of Eden must have captured or stolen one intact.
However, this is still an unusual way of speaking; we've never exactly heard of a "stele planet" before, and we know BOE had to get their stele from Mercymorn, as opposed to finding one in the corpse of a flipped planet.
Looking for 'plot holes' and errors in the continuity of a magic system is rarely productive, but if we comb back over HTN, AYU, and NTN, there appear to be some interesting inconsistencies in the presentation of stelae.
In HTN, John describes stele travel as vaguely dependent on obelisk infrastructure, forcing his Lyctors (who can travel freely) to lay down more of them - the reader is encouraged to that stelae are warp drives, and that obelisks define the regions a stele can transit between.
God said, “We came up with the stele instead, and the obelisk, which are less to do with travel than they are to do with transmission. But there will be times in your future when you will have to move unfettered by needing an obelisk, and even times yet to come when you will fulfil the sacred Lyctoral duty of setting obelisks...”
“Where we are going there are no obelisks for a stele to hook on to,” said the Emperor.
Certain asides in AYU and NTN double down on this interpretation, making references to "obelisk anchors", and establishing the need to locate an anchor at one's intended destination before embarking on stele travel:
Someone else said more clearly, How will we know where the anchor is? And the voice said, I’ve given you the blasted co-ordinates, haven’t I? It won’t be in the ship’s stellar registry, so you’ll have to do the input work yourself. And you must follow the route I’ve given you afterward.
“The Ziz isn’t Cohort standard. And it’s not as big on the inside as you think. Look at the windows—see how there’re none on the back end? It’s mostly engine. Not plated either. It’ll get to sublume without many problems … but it definitely doesn’t have room for a stele. Camilla is right. It can’t travel by obelisk anchor.”
However, AYU makes it clear that a stele also has a role to play as an anchor:
Under this duress I told them I understood how the stele worked but had no ability to use it myself... I said one necromancer alone would not be able to use it as an anchor and that it needed to be energised on a thanergenic planet, so it would never be of any use to them.
NTN even seems to flip-flop around, with people locating a stele to anchor onto, and using obelisks like an array of engines rather than to define one end in a point-to-point transition.
"The Warden convinced the Oversight Body, convinced the Sixth House to come with us. We showed them the secret of the installation. We helped them find a stele that would anchor such a big thanergy transition … which means, we helped them move."
"How’d you get it through a stele? With the weight of that thing, you’d never survive River displacement.” “Five hundred and thirty-two obelisks,” said Camilla.
Here's my tinfoil hat for you: if a stele and an obelisk both have similar roles to play in FTL travel - as suggested by their both being named after words for monuments - then the obelisk should have a similar necromantic nature. They may both be similar names for the same thing, or two different versions of the same thing, at least.
If nothing else, given that they're clearly both "anchors" rooted in Fifth House spirit magic, obelisks and stelae must have similar demands for upkeep and maintenance. And how can a Lyctor possibly set up such an obelisk out in space?
We know that each anchor relies on great quantities of freshly oxygenated and thanergy-enriched blood - that is, each anchor is sustained by a thanergenic fluid still flush with thalergy, per Pyrrha's comments to the effect that blood wards are more thalergy-rich than bone wards. Such anchors also have to be charged with power from thanergy-rich planets.
Mercymorn was able to produce an automatic oxygenation unit via the use of flesh magic, but blood cells need external organs to stay alive. For purposes of sustaining a very large anchor with life and death, a simpler option might be to make your runes with very wide chisel cuts or specially treated surfaces, so that they can't be blotted out by debris, and then leave them in a liquid ecosystem. Place them at the bottom of a water basin teeming with microorganisms, and then allow the micro-ecology to start dying off in the same thanergenic background radiation that you're using to charge up the anchor monument.
For example, by carving into the seabed under the salt-water ocean of a dying planet - a stele planet.

November Forecast!
Honestly, I feel very good and optimistic for you guys for the month of November. October probably wasn't the best but I'm also getting the energy of "turn of events". Not sure if this is resonating more with the month of October or November, whichever one I just feel like there's going to many turn of events for you guys, whether it's positive or negative or a little mix of both, I guess it all depends on how you at it... it's all about perspective. For instance, a negative situation being the catalyst of some type of turn of event for the better.
I'm going to reiterate staying focus on your goals and plans at this time and not getting easily involved or swayed by distractions. Church bells are definitely significant. The song "Beautiful People" by Chris Brown is significant. Again, distractions... take your time with things especially with yourself and innerstand that only YOU innerstand what's going on and happening for YOU. Yes, you will have naysayers or people that just want to add their little 2 cents into shit... pay them no attention, keep doing what you're doing! "You're doing fine!" someone needed to hear that!
At the end of everything, you'll be very satisfied with the decisions you've made or had to make but remember it was to better you in the long term. I see most of you reaching your goals, others of you however are needing to get out of the swamp... not sure what that means but swamp was what spirit used lol. But it is kind of giving me dirty, mucky water type of vibes... it's kind of creepy looking honestly lmao. Many of you will have your moments where you'll feel betrayed or like you had to betray others in some way in order for you to have this come up and glow up but honestly it is what it is. 555 is significant and I feel this goes back to what I mentioned before how certain turn events will happen but it could be either for the negative or positive. Some of you had to "abandon ship" in order to move forward in your own personal life and honestly that's fine, I also want to add that mistakes will happen and are bound to happen but be graceful and patient with yourself. Yes, you may have had potentials in your life, whether they were friends, romantic partners, jobs, etc. but things had to go the way they did in order for you to grow and heal the things that was happening in your inner world. What's meant for you will always find you and what's not, will leave you.
It's time for bigger, better and more! No more mediocracy from yourself and others and I mean this in multiple ways! I mean this in a stop giving and receiving mediocracy. You want better? Do better, create better, give better, receive better. When it comes to YOU, stop the mediocracy nonsense and I mean it in a way of stop settling for less than. You deserve more because you're a princess or prince. I used princess because your inner child is needing some attention and healing right now. Someone also could've been a daddy's little girl or a mama's boy. Achievements are on the horizon for a lot of you moving forward. You could be signing something soon or you may be seeing a lot of signs especially keys, moving trucks/vans... and something about church or a specific church building or this may be the church bells that I mentioned earlier. Confidence is key moving forward... I was getting something about marking your territory in some way lmao idk don't shoot the messenger lmao. 33/11/333 are significant. Lastly, you had to learn some really hard and tough lessons but this was to prepare you for what was to come in the near future. Trust me when I say that everything happens for a reason, and some of you may have needed to be or become more disciplined with self. I hope this helps!
**Please keep in mind that these messages are collective messages meaning they may or may not resonate with you and your current situation. RESPOND TO THE FOLLOWING PROMPTS OOC , THEN TAG OTHERS YOU WANT TO GET TO KNOW BETTER.
tagged by: @heirloomeds & @eternclsunshine (ty <33) tagging: @weedzkiller, @fruitpoem, @fadinglights
roleplayer name: yo. it's a nickname a childhood friend gave me and that i did not like at the time jkskjdj but it definitely grew on me and it reminds me of her which is super sweet :33 also my favorite nickname does nooooot work well in english lmfao so yeah, yo it is.
roleplayer pronouns: she/her
preferred communication: discord for sure!! i hate tumblr dms, they're ugly and they stress me out. discord notifications aren't the best but at least it's kind of cuter and it makes me less anxious usually
experience: uhh i think i started roleplaying on tumblr in 2018?? i only rp-ed in groups for a while, dabbled in indie but gave up and then i decided to return to it last year because my best friend was also doing it and here we are
preferred roleplay type: para!!! i love, love, loooove long threads so much, like 400 words minimum!! they take longer to write but they make me so happy. i get why a lot of people might find them overwhelming and prefer shorter and quicker ones, though, (and don't get me wrong, they are absolutely necessary for me, too, i think i would go insane if i only had longer threads) so i try to contain the yapper in me jdfkjd
pet peeves & dealbreakers: hmm i think it's soooo discouraging when people don't read. i kiiiinda get why someone won't read a full character bio (i can't relate, i'm Nosy and definitely snoop around through people's blogs to learn as much about their characters as i can jdkjsjk) but not really reading the reply you're replying to??? or someone's rules?? it's super obvious and it always bums me out when i notice it. rules especially are so important for people's comfort and checking if you're compatible with someone so :// (oh also slavic names & surnames. but... that's more of a general western media thing and definitely a rant for another time djkskj)
plots or memes: i think it depends on the partner?? like if it's a mutual who i know i enjoy writing with, i think pretty much anything goes. in general i prefer plots but also usually not super in depth plots. jhfjh i just like having some kind of vague idea of what the ship/situation would be before i get to writing.
best time to write: best for productivity?? around noon. best in terms of enjoyment would be around ten pm since i'm calmer then and writing helps me de-stress further. i have plenty of free time rn so i kind of just write whenever
are you like your muse?: oh no. i think there's pieces of me in every character for sure but i would hate to write someone who's entirely like me or too much like me jhdhsk, it would make me uncomfortable and probably die of cringe. i don't really enjoy writing characters who have their shit together so i guess, in that sense, we're all alike

ok buckle in cause this might be a bit long (sorry!)
Im gonna be so honest, i do not understand the amount of angst and borderline disrespect people have for luke because of the whole lukola and antonia thing. i just read an anon and response on another fans page where they basically said luke was irresponsible, immature, and had a bunch of red flags. I know that the people pap photos disappointed a lot of people but i’m having trouble understanding what about them made him come off as immature and 🚩🚩🚩??? from a pr standpoint would it have been better if he’d waited a while after part 2nd release to hard launch his relationship? yeah totally. and i absolutely understand the distaste for it because it put nic in the position of doing damage control (again still not completely understanding why it’s such a big deal genuinely)
I hope i’m not coming across as disrespectful or anything. I LOVE nicola and i like luke but im genuinely just confused by the fan response.
Am i just not caught up on the lore? Is there information that im missing about luke and his past relationships aside from having dated someone long term and breaking up with them within the last year?
maybe im in the minority but i honestly didn’t think the whole shipping luke and nic and him having a gf was that deep???! like yeah it was fun but when it comes down to it they are actors and, seemingly, very good friends. yeah it’s disappointing when two people who have very good chemistry aren’t together irl but it’s weird to me that some people seem to be so attached to the idea to the point of choosing to not finish the rest of the series because of the pap pictures and luke having a gf.
Anyway, if anyone could offer insight into the other pov it would be appreciated. I’m just curious about why people are bashing him
you're my second anon to be like i LOVE nicola and i like luke...he's okay i guess...which made me laugh aasdfkkj
i can't tell you the feelings of others! wish i could! i think it depends how deeply invested they were in luke and nicola and how deeply betrayed they felt. you're absolutely spot on, it's not that deep, and luke is not a bad person at all. he doesn't have red flags, he's just a normal dude with a girlfriend. that's it! but you also need to consider it's the journey that people have taken with them and six months is a long time to be associated with your co-star and to imagine they are in a relationship, a secret relationship, one that they both endorsed and said they didn't mind that people shipped them. it can trigger feelings of betrayal and a deep sense of distrust, especially if you've never shipped or imagined two real life people in a relationship. it's why real life shipping is sooooo complicated because you intertwine your real feelings for the fictional couple with the real couple. polin and lukola.
even a week later, a WEEK, people are still irritated and they are still doing damage control. it's madness.

Mairon x Ar-Pharazôn - I know you ship it, but tell me why :)
*rubs hands* Ah it's time for the Mairazôn manifesto. I'll put some of this under a cut because I will have to discuss some dark stuff later on, as you can already guess, but for everyone else - tw captor/captive, non-con and just the fact that these two are awful men.
So first of all the entire canon scenario around these two is super interesting. We have a political intrigue plot and really get to see the "Deceiver" part. Mairon is so good at making men thirst after him that he works his way from prisoner to advisor and high priest, getting an arc that parallels Melkor's Valinor arc while also being even more "egregious" in terms of deception. We have this huge corruption arc, we have fucked up religious undertones, we have essentially a Garden of Eden narrative and most importantly we have juicy power dynamics.
The power dynamics are particularly interesting to me because on one hand Ar-Pharazôn is "the man in charge", but on the other hand Mairon is vastly more powerful than any individual in the kingdom. If he wanted he could break/melt those chains, kill the king and everyone else he hates and escape before he gets overwhelmed by numbers (plus not everyone may have a weapon that can hurt a Maia as powerful as he is, especially since he has the One Ring).
He could have also avoided capture in the first place, I doubt mortals are any good at chasing Ainur once they cast off their fána and just leave or have anything like Angainor available. But no, Mairon chose to let Ar-Pharazôn capture him and is playing the long game (well, long for mortals anyway). He wants to ruin that man and wants to do it thoroughly.
Ar-Pharazôn is canonically a rapist, at least in the version of the story where he took Míriel to wife by force (there's also one where she loved him... girl, your standards, please), and my headcanon is that he wanted Mairon as well and ended up having sex with him that he allowed, but didn't want. A very muddled consent situation to say the least.
Aside from juicy dark fic and kinky porn (and everyone is welcome to read it as just that and not more), I like taking Mairazôn (as well as Tulkas/Melkor) to really challenge society's "perfect victim" nonsense. Mairon is as "imperfect" of a victim as it gets: He's a man/male-presenting, he's a literal angel, he's evil, he's more powerful than Ar-Pharazôn one on one and known to set people on fire, he's seen it coming and maybe even "provoked" it in some way or at least acquiesced, so that people might say: "He was asking for it". They may also enjoy seeing him get raped as a sort of a justice/punishment thing.
By showing how he experiences these unwanted encounters with Ar-Pharazôn I want the reader to think about what they consider to be just and how their perception of sexual violence differs in regards to different victims. Do you think it becomes "okay" at a certain point if the victim has "allowed" themselves to get into a situation or if they're a bad person themselves (also while Mairon is to my knowledge not canonically a rapist, there is some fanon around and in my opinion it's not exactly far-fetched or OOC)? How do you perceive the power imbalance in this and can you see it going both ways? Are you willing to face the tough and morally challenging situations of victims becoming perpetrators and perpetrators becoming victims? Where does your compassion lie? How do you feel about revenge?
And this entire mess becomes even messier with my headcanon that Mairon thought he as an Ainu, a shapeshifting spirit being who wears physical forms like clothes, would be above being affected by such an act committed against him. Hell, depending on how the individual reader sees past Angbang it may have happened to him before. What does this do to his psyche? Just how far is this man willing to go for his perfect revenge? And where does it leave him in the end?
So yeah. Tldr: For me, Mairazôn is dark, messy and asks the tough questions. It's an excellent ship to explore all of these themes.

Headcanon reboot - super tech for the masses
So one of the aspects of my headcanon reboot is that it kinds ends - people age and retire, we don't have to keep villains in play (the reformed ones stay reformed) and so on. And one thing I started playing with is that this world doesn't have to stay like our world. I completely understand why it does in the comics, and I do think it a good business decision, but this is just for fun, not money, so I can make characters do logical things.
So, when someone invents a potentially world-changing and fortune-making technology, it can actually be mass-produced, used by ordinary people, and change the world. Instead of being confined to heroes and villains with no proper reason given (because it would make the world our heroes operate in unrecognizable and be a barrier to entry for new readers).
Please do forgive me if I've misremembered the details on how these techs work. Or if they've been given multiple explanations, chime in with others.
Chronologically, the first one I have on my list is Ray Palmer/The Atom's tech (shrinking things or people and with the ability to alter mass while in shrunken state). This would be circa 2001. Originally he was thinking about how, with everything shrunk, farmers could grow more and freight trains transport more. But the tech only worked on him, so he wasn't ready to publish. But later, he did manage to get it work on others...and still never published or put it out in the world. At least, he unshrunk the Hawks. It's been a long time since I read it. Hope I'm not misremembering the details and that wasn't another "it only works this one time" sort of thing.
In this universe, he will. He's still a graduate student, so I guess we know what his thesis is. I'm undecided on whether to make the lens still made from white dwarf star (which makes no sense) or make it regular lens inspired by the idea of a white dwarf star (which also makes no sense, but lends itself to the mass use he was thinking about, since material for the lens would be available). A lens (that he crafted himself, so the precision shouldn't be an issue), a control panel, and an ultraviolet light - doesn't like it should be too expensive to manufacture (though end-user price may still be very high at first depending on supply and demand). I was modeling IP treatment after Yale's for compensation, but I don't really know how universities deal with tech patents like that - sell or license the patent and would licenses be exclusive? Anyway, he'll have a hell of thesis. But the rest of the comments on him are only relevant if the tech goes mainstream. Then he started traveling through phone lines. That has even more massive implications for goods transport (I haven't really put any thought into the agriculture, I admit - just transport). But it's not going to happen overnight. I would expect massive regulatory hurdles. Safety tests (both on goods shrunk and people). And if they use phone travel, there's other safety issues to be addressed. Do they use the same phone network? What about infrastructure improvement? Obviously some countries will move more quickly than others and some will be more likely to respect the patent than others. The mid and long-term effects as the tech actually goes mainstream - takes time for factories to be built or modified but it will happen. I could still see lots of loading and unloading jobs, of course. Eventually expect your Walmart's to have their own and get things shipped to them that way. Businesses like gas stations may still be getting last mile delivery of chips, but the number of truckers should go down a lot, so there's unemployment in that field. Not mention trains and shipping companies and ports. Recession time? Some countries even heavily hit. Job rearrangement from things it's more profitable to outsource now that shipping is so quick and cheap. This could really impact commuting. Many people love cities for the entertainment, etc. But then you have the folks with hour and half commutes from the suburbs. It may not be affordable to the average person to own their own for a long time (so they can dial a phone, shrink, then their desk phone auto-answers and they unshrink and thus have a 30-second commute), but bus-depot like places could allow someone in Lawrence, KS to park their car (pay a parking fee), shrink and transport the location a 5-minute walk from their work in Manhattan instead of having a more expensive home closer by. I find decoupling employment location from living location interesting (and often discussed in regards to remote work), but I'm not sure how much it'd happen. More useful for long trips than short ones, of course. We have to think about security implications (especially if used internationally). Gotta check passports, go through customs, etc. Could someone send a bomb via phone line? This is pretty fantastical tech to start with, but with the ability to not decrease mass, would it still have full explosive power - I really don't know how various bombs work.
Next up is Karen Beecher/Bumblebee in 2003. I am not using her shrinking, as I think it makes to much like Wasp. But from one of the guides, it was said the antennae of her costume were solar panels and that's what allowed her to user her mechanical wings and fly. That kind of solar panel and battery would make massive, massive impacts (I'm assuming it's easy to scale up/down). And quite likely move though regulation way more quickly than Ray's tech. Solar panels and batteries already exist. Now, like so many comic heroes (and villains), she's a genius, but she's still just a teenager (and not a wealthy one) when she builds it, so it should be very affordable to produce (possibly only a couple thousand dollars retail for car-size setup once competition is in place). She was on the Teen Titans with Roy, and Ollie is all for the environment, so Queen will be the first company introduced to her tech, and the first to license it. Non-exclusive licenses all the way (which Ollie is happy with and spreading the news himself, as it suits his personality). The solar panels are great for houses and cars and factories, but the batteries should end up all over the place - cell phones, children's toys, remote controls, etc. It'll take to time to get production chains in place, but she's going to be a billionaire very quickly. Geolpolitical consequnces are again rampant - based on who produces oil, who refines oil, who has the contracts for mining the material, where production factories are, etc.
Flash has some genuisy rogues who reformed (fora while) and they come later. As this universe doesn't have to keep them in play, I'm not flip-flopping them - if they reform, they reform. So I may have Captain Cold and The Trickster in play. The Trickster has anti-grav tech. I'm not sure how much planes are still in play, but it's a thought. Might be moving furniture around. Finally have flying cars (with regulations/mechanical restrictions that people will try to get around)? Now, Cold had freeze gun. A nice safe one that has no negative consequences. Good for home protection, since it doesn't really matter if you accidentally shoot your kid. And could you just have the ambulance arrive, freeze the patient and transport them to a hospital? That would effect EMT jobs. I'm not going to have the gun do some the wackier stuff (like de-aging someone - wow what a tech to to introduce).

I'm curious, how many fandom have you been a part in? How many shows you like that has no fandoms? What are your fandom history?
Oh, that is such a fun ask, thank you! Brace yourself, I am actually giving a way more detailed answer than you probably wanted.
So, first of all, it depends on what one's definition of "in the fandom" is. Because if I'd count every fandom that I have been a part of as a "spectator" - admiring fanarts and GIFs and reading fanfiction - daaamn, that'd make this a very long list, I think.
Generally, I only count myself as part of a fandom if I also contribute to it myself, because that means this fandom really sucked me in, while the ones I only read in are more... passing fancies, I guess? That's how it is for me, anyway.
So, by that metric, have a little history of Phoe.
My earliest fandom was Charmed, though... very much unposted, like, "physically wrote with ink in a notebook" fanfiction. But that was the first show that really consumed me; my walls were plastered with posters, all my friends who bought teen mags always cut the Charmed articles out for me (which, genuinely, so sweet), heck, I had Charmed bedsheets. Also my very first next generation, the kids of the Charmed Ones. But that was waaay before I even knew the term "fanfiction", I just liked writing so I thought "what if next generation though", particularly due to how important family is in this show.
In 2005, I wrote my first fic that I actually published, though... if it still exists on the internet, it's on an account I forgot about. Twas Yu-Gi-Oh! and Puppyshipping. That was when I was actually diving into fandom, as a shared experience, instead of, you know, faning for myself. Reading fics, exploring websites that brought fans together.
Ultimately, I ended up on Animexx (German fan site, hosting forums, fanfiction, fanart, doujinshi and a shit-ton of other fannish delights) and in the Beyblade fandom.
These two, by the way, went a little hand in hand together. Beyblade and Yu-Gi-Oh! were two of the big anime of the time, airing in the noon-ish block on RTL2 in Germany at the time. That shounen sports-anime genre always got the fangirls.
And the Beyblade fandom was where I really... took off, in a creator way. Wrote a total of 39 fics spanning over 200k words in the three years I was a part of this fandom (2006-2008) and drew a bunch of fanarts too. I joined a writer's circle - kind of a club - for the ship KaRe and that hugely factored into my productivity. We gave each other feedback, had fandom events, met up at conventions. Most of them were in their early to late twenties, some older, so I had a lot of mentor figures in my life there who taught me how to be a better writer. But by 2008, the fandom started to fizzle out, more and more of the writers I admired and was friends with dropped out of it and went on to other fandoms, so by the end, I was out too, because being one of the last ones standing was... frustrating.
I was a little... lost, after that. It's weird, when your very first fandom dies, because you never experienced that before, so how does fandom life go on after that? How do you get into a fandom?
I stopped writing for about a year, not really having a fandom to channel it into, when I watched Sky High in 2009. And oh boy. That movie inexplicably captivated me. I mean, not so inexplicable, there's a pretty boy with a tragic backstory in it, like... that's catnip to me, and he even had fire-powers, c'mon.
Which is kind of how I discovered fanfiction.net because a single movie did absolutely not get a huge following in Germany so I started seeking out English fics, even though my English was absolute dog-shit. But it inspired me, it made me write again. One fic, unpublished, in German, but it got me going again and it showed me that hey no it can be that easy, just latch onto something else that brings you joy!
It's also how or why I made my FFNet account; so I could leave proper comments on the Warren/Will fics I read.
By 2010, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief hit theaters and it hit me, personally, hard. I loved that movie, the concept of modern day demigods and Greek mythology being real was just so good. Plus, elemental control, again. I love that stuff.
So I did the very untypical thing of buying the books. All five in one go. And I actually read them. I started writing PJO fics by 2010.
Heck, I started writing a lot between 2010 and 2012, for practically everything that caught my interest - Percy Jackson, Detective Conan (an anime I had been a fan of since the days of Yu-Gi-Oh! and Beyblade, only that this one was still going) were the two biggest, but things like Eureka, Transformers, Entourage, Jungle Book.
I started college in October 2011 and I, uh, well, I wrote my fics during class. Because lectures are just not... nah. They let me have my laptop in class? Hell yeah, I'm gonna write.
I had a good friend back then, a friend I made early on, who at one point noticed me writing during class and asked me if I actually post it online and I went hell no, because English is not my native language, heck, for the majority of high school (German high school spans from 5th grade to 13th grade, we don't have middle school), I didn't even pay attention in English and was fully content scraping by. I only really started paying attention in 2009 when Doctor Who saw the return of my beloved Jack Harness but not the return to the German screens so a girl had to make ends meet by watching it in English. So, yeah, though I shot to the top of my class in high school with the literal power of anime and Doctor Who, I didn't feel confident enough to post my stories on websites where actual native English speakers could read and judge them. But he kept nudging me about it and telling me that if I went through the trouble of writing them, I should share them with others who might enjoy it.
So, yeah, everybody say "Thank you, Andy" for actually making me post my fics by January 2012. Which, I just fully dumped all the fics I had written in the past two years within a short span of time. His motto of "if you enjoy it, others will too" really resonated with me so I posted everything.
And it... took off. DCMK and PJO, there was such a positive response from people, actual excitement for the fics I wrote, and I got that sense of fandom community again, answering comments and starting conversations and friendships with people, commenting on fics that I read and enjoyed. The other fandoms I wrote for kind of fizzled out because the shows ended and movies ended (well... stopped being good).
It was so different, being in ongoing fandoms, where the show still aired and the books were still being released. And I do consider myself someone who helped build up the PJO fandom, on the slash side anyway, because I wrote so much for a ship that was so tiny back then - Nico/Percy.
I'm still actively writing for both of these fandoms to this day, 12 years later.
And then came Teen Wolf in 2013. I started watching it during the hiatus between season 2 and season 3 and got really addicted and devoured all the fics I could and I thought "holy shit, this is going to be my next big thing" and then season 3 just... crushed... literally every single hope I had for the show. Don't get me wrong, 3B is, imo, the best storyline, but by then 3A had already destroyed so much. And season 4 kinda sucked, which put me off. And I straight up hated season 5 so I dropped the show and thought that's that, moving on. This was the closest I have come to actually abandoning a story since I left the Beyblade fandom, including the 10 years after this, because the show's quality drop had demotivated me so much, I put the multichapter fic I had started onto a... long... hiatus. I only continued it about 4 years later, when I started feeling so guilty about abandoning the fic that I said "Nah, I am going to rewatch this damn show for the sole purpose of finishing this damn story" in 2018. And I did! Finish the story, and the show.
Ironically enough, this year, Teen Wolf has sank its claws into me again and dragged me in deep. I mean, really deep. I wrote 30k worth of fics for it this month alone and just started a rewatch again. So, consider me officially back in this fandom.
2014 was when I finally caved and watched Kuroko no Basuke, which was hugely popular in the crowd of former Beyblade fandom members. And kinda got addicted to that. Fully did not write as many fics for it as I wish I would have, but I loved that show.
2015 saw me dipping my toes into DC Comics through the Arrowverse and, mainly, Leonard/Barry. This will, ultimately, kick off my interest in actually reading the comics, we'll get to that in 2021.
In 2016, I succumbed to the MCU. That lasted until 2020 when Endgame kind of, ya know, ended that for me. And, not gonna lie, the fandom experience here didn't really help me want to stay active. Sure, there were many nice people and the response to my fics was overwhelming, but... if your fandom is overly toxic about your favorite character, it's just kind of exhausting and at one point I was just tired arguing with antis too, you know.
But let's go back to what ran parallel to me still being in the MCU.
In 2017, I started watching Shadowhunters. A show based on the books whose movie adaptation I had already seen, and loved, in 2014. One look into Jace's heterochromic eyes and I sold that character my soul. I have written so many fics for this fandom since then, made some truly wonderful friendships (among them my best friend) and am still active in this fandom.
2018 was a bit of an experimental year for me, because I actually got my tumblr account in autumn 2017 and tumblr changed my interactions with fandom again. It wasn't limited to fanfiction and comment sections anymore, you could just... throw your opinions out there, reblog fanarts, GIF sets existed!! That was a game changer. I dipped my toe into a couple fandoms for like... one fic - Musketeers, Star Wars, Maze Runner (that one's fully on Dylan O'Brien btw), Imposters (absolutely fueled by the fact that tumblr gave me GIFs and I started making GIFs for this show and got much more invested than I would have gotten if I hadn't had a tumblr account), Dragon Prince. Honestly, I don't know how I feel about all that. Part of me is always frustrated when I go and throw one singular fic into the abyss and then move on, but at the same time I do enjoy stretching my wings.
Nothing really major to report between 2019-2021, I kind of just... continued on in the fandoms I was in already. I didn't have much space for new fandoms, the pandemic and changes in my personal life were Enough New Things, so I kind of clung onto the familiar.
So Marvel disappointed me by 2020, right. That factored into why, in 2021, I figured, why not focus more on the other side of the two only comic franchises in existence (sarcasm, I am aware there are more), since I was already watching and loving the Arrowverse and continuously writing fics for it. I started reading DC Comics, really diving into it and letting it consume me and started spinning my own Elseworld - creating this patchwork of things I loved in main continuity, many Elseworld stories, cartoons and the Arrowverse. That's still a work in progress, by the way.
2021 is also the year that gave me Shadow and Bone, a show I quickly got addicted to and wrote a couple of fics and still hate that I haven't written more for this show. I know I will, because I know I will rewatch this show and I will remain bitter about my OTP and I predict that I'm going to fall off the deep end and end up writing for it after all. I am reading fics for it though, still.
That's also the year I started writing Buffy fanfiction, because, again, thank you, tumblr. I don't think I would have ever written anything for it if tumblr hadn't shown me that even so many years after the show ended, there is still such an active and dedicated and beautiful fandom, filled with people who create gorgeous GIFs, interesting meta takes and silly shitposts. Love you, BtVS tumblr.
Damn, 2021 was a productive year for me. Because, mind you, on top of DC, SaB and BtVS, I was also still juggling PJO and Shadowhunters.
I also wrote a few Harry Potter fics between 2020 and 2021, though I did not (and still don't) consider myself part of that fandom, those were gifts for my girlfriend at the time.
In 2022, I started watching Fire Country and the show punched me in the face with a really good ship and though only a handful of episodes were out, I wanted to read fics... and there was not a single one... so I started writing them myself.
Honestly, not much has happened in 2023, because I had the most massive writer's block since leaving Beyblade and didn't write a single word in months. I still worked on DC, PJO, DCMK and Shadowhunters though.
And now we're here, in 2024, which sees my Teen Wolf resurgence.
So, I feel like that covers your first and third question. I don't think I can answer your second question though. Because I have truly consumed so many shows over the course of my life and I'm not... interested in "bonus content" - aka fics or fanarts or GIFs - for the majority of them. They're just entertainment that is running in the background while I write fics for the fandoms I'm in. The only times that I watched a show and wanted a fandom and didn't find one were Imposters and Fire Country, both due to having been really new back then. But other than them, I've been pretty lucky by getting attached to things with very active and often times even very big fandoms.

🤗 What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?
💖 What made you start writing?
🧐 Do you spend much time researching for your stories?
Ty for the ask! I'm procrastinating from doing any actual writing so my answers below are long-winded....
🤗I'm not sure I'm the best one to give advice to new fanfic writers, since I feel like I'm just getting started myself! However, the biggest thing I've learned over the past year and have to keep reminding myself is to NOT compare my writing to anyone else. Instead, I try to focus on what I know I'm good at, use those strengths as the building blocks for my stories and write around them. What does that mean? For me, I start with the dialogue and characterization (sometimes the page only has a conversation written out, then I go back and fill in the setting, internal thoughts, actions, etc.) I also focus on just one or sometimes two things (world-building, internal conflict, showing vs telling, etc) I would like to improve upon. I find one-shots are a great way to experiment and focus on an area I would like to work on.
💖I've always loved to read, especially sci-fi/fantasy novels, and imagine what it would be like to live in those worlds. As a former stage performer, I started writing as a creative outlet (it seemed like the next best thing to performing a musical or play) and as a way to immerse myself into those worlds and characters. I'm sure I'm not the only author who puts themselves in their characters shoes.
🧐Do I research my stories? That depends on the stories. So far, I've had to do some research for two of my stories. The first is my completed work that I've talked about ad nauseum (😅🤣) I Belong to You. I had to do a bit of research on drug addiction and some other stuff... I'm talking about alt rock bands and songs, guitars, and motorcycles, I swear. Seriously, I spent HOURS listening to music until I found the right band for that story. (Good thing I like alt rock. I mean, I'm a huge Radiohead fan, so Muse was like listening to classic rock in comparison😂)
The most in-depth to date is for my current WIP Captain Link Araki.
For starters, I can't tell you the number of hours I spent researching Japanese surnames to find the right one for him. Following that, I read a lot about pirates, their habits, the crewman, jargon, what they do when their ships need repairs, what types of ships they preferred, etc. Then, after I picked a ship, I had to look up the parts of the ship, if it would have a main cabin, how many sails, etc, etc. As it was, I still got some of it wrong, but thankfully my wonderful beta (Zelmo 😉) knew enough to tell me what I needed to fix. I like to incorporate some reality into my stories, so I spent the better part of an afternoon looking up rowing terms and mechanics, and that was only for a two page scene! So, yes, I guess I do research when needed, and tend to get so sucked into studying and taking notes that little to no actual novel writing gets done that day.
So, all that being said - if you happen to read that story and notice something I got wrong or have a suggestion, feel free to tell me. 😅
And thanks if you read this rambling answer!

I love all the work you put into the aesthetics of your posts! I've been binge reading your ships, they're so entertaining and make me smile! I was wondering, as someone who loves making moodboards myself, what's your process? How do you choose what aesthetic you want for each post and how do you make them so nice?
Ah hey!!!
Honestly thank you so much, this is so sweet I swear to God! It really is so special to know that some of it lands and that people find enjoyment from what I do 💖
~~ Now I hope this makes sense, I'll keep it way more general than usual because I chronically overthink moodboards and aesthetic but in terms of inspiration and choosing an aesthetic. For ships, it is fully dependent on the requests. What I mean is that despite most people leaving the colour and theme up to me, I just base it on them. Maybe certain personality traits they have remind me of someone I know, or of an emotion or a colour. Like a random example, if someone tells me they are more of an intellectually bright, studious person who gets along with people fine but they are a homebody. A couple of ways you can do it is go with warm cozy colours that can be associated with certain aesthetics like light academia or boyfriend. Or in the case they really emphasised their intellect there is definitely an angle where you can go with rich royal colours, think dark blue or dark green, that whole academic ravenclaw or slytherin vibe.
That's just an example but a general philosophical, psychological tip is that humans love things to be about themselves. And while I would definitely try to pay attention to the person who wants a ship or a moodboard you can low-key cheat (I don't do this really but this is a handy tip if you're worried about the person not vibing with the aesthetic). You realistically just need to pick the most general traits the person has and run with it. They're a bright person with a happy cheery nature try the literally sunshine aesthetic or cute summer childhood fun. When you branch out even if it's a guess most people like it a lot.
For non ship posts like headcanons or fics you can be a lot more creative. Like the most sexiest thing you can do is use aesthetic to highlight the themes of your fic or headcanon. Think movie tropes but going that extra mile. In ways this is harder but since writing is another thing going to an audience like a y/n situation imagine what your reader would associate with an idol, not what you think. You are making a convincing love interest and the aesthetic can be abstract but also add things that are universal. I'll give a visual for this one.
Quick scenario: I happened to drink an iced americano and I realised Jungwon from Enhypen is hot. No one knows why I find him hot or to what degree but if I wanted to write something based on my americano daydreams I want people to see the version of Jungwon I crave which could look like this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Low-key coffee, literally espresso, wanting him now, needy, energetic, treating the bed as a place for fun activities... yeah and some very modern slice of life esque bathroom graffiti. The connection? Most people know what these images mean or what they hint at.
This is already long but the last thing that is a part of my process besides thinking about different ways to visually captivate someone. Idk I'm still experimenting but something that i like is having different shapes and textures in your images, because people are into that but they also follow gifs. So I randomly pop idol gifs into it so people can be captivated looking at a pretty idol. Ooh and this isn't any answers or secrets this is general but what I've noticed with other moodboard people is bringing in symbols, or having a somewhat messy aesthetic especially with the size and shape of the image. You will feel it when some images need space before headers and dividers. The shape and borders will always add that bit more depth.
Yeah so again thank you so much for your kind words! I hope this gave a bit of insight so yeah short version part of my process is focusing on people outside of you, thinking about how they see certain images, making the themes specific even if people don't understand it all that well they will still like it and shapes shapes shapes and spacing. Experiment more with the format rather than the images 💖💖
Whoever you are anonnie love ya heaps and thanks for picking my brain about aesthetics and moodboards 😘

We’re back with more replies! Long ones today…
Anonymous asked:
Can you recommend us any tumblrs to follow?
Unfortunately, I can’t recommend any tumblrs either… we don’t even have a feed here, we just drop posts and leave; I am sorry. 😔 It’s easier to check my tl when it’s only my art there lol Once again, read this as an invitation to share your favourite blogs in the comments.
Anonymous asked:
Hello! I'm the anon from the headcanon ask about TreyRidChe and wanted to thank you for answering! I had to dig because for some reason the tag system wasn't working and I was never sure if it got answered until today! Again though as someone who likes TreyRiddle first and foremost (so the bias was perfectly acceptable) I do agree Che'nya would be more a provoker especially from what I've seen in the manga. (It's really in the way Trey was so much more enthralled by Riddle from certain pages.)
I am happy to hear from you again, Anon! And I am very glad that you found the post despite all the issues with the tags… it’s very difficult to find posts on this site sometimes, especially when there are so many of them, and the notifications don’t work all the time either. 😔 (By the way, here is the post that Anon is talking about!)
Also, I completely agree with you, I still think that their dynamic is basically like this. Like I’ve said in the initial post, Che’nya loves Riddle, but doesn’t mind sharing and ultimately wants his friends to be happy, and he knows how hopelessly in love Trey is with Riddle. The manga panels with these three are so pretty and filled with emotions…
Anonymous asked:
Omg I just saw your other reply about not liking ship kids, I'm so sorry if my previous ask made you uncomfortable or something ;;;
-Idia's womb tattoo anon
Anon! No worries whatsoever, this isn’t related to it and you didn’t make us uncomfortable at all. Like I said, there are certain scenarios in which we enjoy the theme, and if it’s dark and/or kinky, the chances of us being on board are always higher. Moreover, your ask is related to a comic that we posted ourselves, so it’s all good – we started it >:3c
What we don’t like is the 100% wholesome and genuine “our baby is kicking, can you feel it?”, “passing out because he’s just found out he’ll be a father” thing. Nothing against it, it’s just not our thing. I’m also just taking my time with a lot of asks because I want to reply properly, but my brain is small and my limit is a couple of replies per day 😔 This is why I am slow…
Thank you for your concern though! And I’ll reply to you in a moment 👀
Anonymous asked:
Random, but since you imagined you don't like pregnancy tropes, does that also count for MPreg? (which stands for male pregnancy)
tbh, MPreg is not my thing, but suddenly remembered that, that’s a thing. This brings me back to the good old days of hetalia cuz this fandom had a LOT of Mpreg going around, lol.
But in a world of magic and such is not impossible? I mean, Malleus did come from an egg, so like, yeah.
Just like I said in a previous reply: it depends on how it’s used. If it’s just a happy family, and the purpose of mpreg in the story is simply to put characters in the scenario in which they are expecting, it’s absolutely not for us; it could even get triggering at times. Even in terms of kinks, sometimes it works well, but sometimes it turns into a massive squick. I can’t even describe it in a way that would be 100% conclusive; it’s a delicate topic, I guess. If it’s more messed up or if there are darker themes involved, it’s much more likely to work, and with mpreg it has a lot of potential to be messed up by definition.
When it comes to possibility and magic, yeah, twst universe gives a lot of opportunities to make mpreg happen! Be it convenient magic, unique reproductive systems of certain species, or even something that simply exists in-universe. It’s funny that you mentioned Malleus because the idea of him being able to lay eggs certainly pops up in our conversations from time to time… the mechanics of that, the implications, the complicated relationship Malleus would have with it and stuff; there is a lot to talk about. (We actually have a kinky comic where he lays an egg and Lilia crushes it, but completely forgot about it... it’s been a while.)
And Azul too, I think we talked about him making Idia carry his eggs at some point. When it’s animalistic like that, it’s much more fun because it’s less real, more weird and a bit gross <3 which automatically makes it hot because Idia would be freaked out the entire time.
So yeah, it all depends, and honestly goes from -100 to 1000 at times lol, so it shouldn’t stop you from sending asks. If the theme is something that we don’t like or have nothing to say about, we’ll just skip it.
(oh god, good ol’ hetalia days! I guess we missed all the mpreg- or just erased it from our memories lol)
Anonymous asked:
have you ever considered Sebek/Leona?.
(you view Sebek as a top and Leona as a bottom so it doesn’t break your no switching rule right?)
Leona would get a kick out of “stealing” Malleus’s little boytoy form him and setting out to do so.
while Sebek the poor naive gullible croc has no idea how even ended up fucking Leona in the first place let alone that it was happening to get under his liege’s skin…
who knows if it even work to piss Malleus off though.
You know Anon, miraculously we did talk about these two in a couple of posts!
What’s interesting about this ship is that Sebek has no idea where to put Leona in his mental scale of important people: he really doesn’t like him, he hates how Leona treats Malleus, but he is also supposed to respect Leona nonetheless (Lilia and Malleus both remind him of that) + doesn’t like being dismissed by Leona for some reason. So if Leona wants to provoke Sebek into sleeping with him somehow, it’d be easier than one might think: Sebek really is gullible… but if he learns about Leona’s motive behind seducing him, he would get so angry and also disappointed in himself that he might actually attack Leona and get in trouble for that lol
Although the thing is, there is a big problem with Leona’s plan: if Sebek is having an active affair with Malleus (= being his little boytoy), it won’t be easy to seduce him. And if Sebek isn’t having an affair with Malleus, Malleus probably wouldn’t care much. So was the croc dick even worth it, Leona?

since there's a new audience i wanna make myself clear: i don't subscribe to fiction discourse terms like anti or proship, in large part bc they're kinda useless especially in terms of my politics and "affiliations" persay. with that said if you really want to classify me so bad then i guess some people would put me in the ~~proship~~ category (whether I like it or not). so to be clear:i believe that it's anyone's right to write, read, draw and even enjoy depictions of dark topics in fiction, whether it be to work through trauma or as a kink. i have my own boundaries on the subject but i fully object to any attempt to classify works depicting fictional characters as being responsible for incest, abuse or csa—these are systemic issues that would not disappear even if you managed to ban any depiction of them, and can only be resolved through systemic changes—such as youth liberation, and dismantling of structures that give individuals power over one another. i think calling incest and csa survivors (whether they're open about it or not) predators or evil/dangerous simply bc they have written a fic, or enjoy a ship, or even a book, is utterly callous and is at best people's attempt to make themselves feel more powerful by going after vulnerable people and claiming it's justice. i think random strangers attempting to police or discern how horny someone might have been writing/drawing that content is far more violating than whatever happens to the fictional characters they depict. as a matter of fact, i think one can depict these subject matters in a horny way and still have valuable things to say about it. i think that in a time where any sexual or queer content is being challenged as inherently damaging to youth, embracing the idea that writing or enjoying a fanfic or a book containing Bad Content makes you responsible for abuse and predation is insanely irresponsible. people are allowed their boundaries and comfort and to not engage with certain content, and even not want to engage with individuals into that content. however callouts or harassment is monstrous, particularly when aimed at people whose lives might depend on support from online friends or networks.
this isnt a lecture nor is it exhaustive, im just clarifying my position to the new twitter crowd. im also open to dms and discussion as long as its in good faith and youre not jumping in calling me a pedophile lol

20 questions for fic writers!!
How many works do you have on Ao3?
12
What's your total Ao3 word count?
233,384
What fandoms do you write for?
only young royals so far but i've been thinking about writing for another fandom lately too
Top five fics by kudos:
Gold and Silver
The Frog Prince (unfortunately lol)
Honey, You Look Like Gold to Me
Lost in the Sauce
Bronze
Do you respond to comments?
yeah, unless they're super weird or a response to my response i guess
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
The Last Dance was MCD and most people sobbed while reading it so... i guess that one. Most of the rest of mine have happy endings even if they're super angsty in between
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
What exactly is the "happiest ending" lol... idk i guess in terms of like payoff maybe Bronze? I really don't know lol
Do you get hate on fics?
I've gotten a bit of stuff that's made me feel bad/upset on Thou Wilt Whisper, "No Pang Shall Be Mine" but not really, no
Do you write smut?
depends on the story but yes. I have a lot without it though too. I try to make sure my stories don't need it and that I'm not using smut to cover up a weak plot
Craziest crossover:
Jesus Christ x Wilmon (/hj)
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
no but Mano was joking about stealing one of my fics the other day lmao bc I was thinking of changing something in it
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yeah, I think gold and silver was translated into Russian? I don't remember but I think so
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, I beta for some friends but I'm not huge on co-writing bc my work style is so odd
All time favourite ship?
I actually prefer reading rwrb Alex and Henry fics oops but I guess Wilmon is still technically my favorite
What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
i have one on Ao3 that I abandoned but I have no desire to finish it. But I do have a trans simon canon rewrite in my docs that I wish I could finish, but I just don't love writing canon no matter how much I try. I'm an AU writer through and through
What are your writing strengths?
sadness, making people cry, imagery and metaphor maybe, and symbolism? and angst but ya know...
What are your writing weaknesses?
I use "as" too much and also sometimes don't use enough names
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
i try to stick to English these days, but there are times where i think it can work in fics
First fandom you wrote in?
young royals. I don't think I ever wrote in my previous fandoms. I think I only ever made art.
Favourite fic you've written?
Thou Wilt Whisper always and forever. Like I love a lot of my fics or they wouldn't be posted, but that one truly means so much more to me
Stole this idea from @glassdollls thx bestie

Writer Interview Tag
Ooh, fun! Thank you to @graysparrowao3 for tagging me in this; I find talking about my process fascinating but am never sure if folks are interested in this kind of thing.
I'm bad at keeping up on my dash, so apologies if you got tagged and did this already and I wasn't aware: @rainyssafespace @queen-of-cats @trashcritter
On y vas!
When did you start writing?
I've always been an extremely imaginative person, so I've been composing scenarios and stories in my head for as long as I can remember. The earliest I actually remember being really into writing was in third grade, and--don't laugh--a Magic School Bus fanfic (where my classmates and I turned into the characters on the show, I guess nine-year-old Lolli was into isekai?).
From then on, I've always been writing and world building to some degree. I finished my first "novel" at age 11, which was stylistically very Babysitters Club inspired, about my friends and me putting on a school production of The Sound of Music. It was seventy pages on WordPerfect, I was very proud, and every use of "definitely" was misspelled "defiantly".
Come to think of it, my fifth grade best friend was also very into writing. We'd sit around and alternate between one of us drawing and one of us writing in her room. From what I can tell, she's kept up with the drawing whereas I've kept up with the writing since then.
Are there any specific themes or genres that you enjoy reading other than what you write?
I enjoy reading futuristic or science fiction works but have no desire to write it myself. I like my swords and magic!
In terms of fanfic, I usually tend to gravitate toward stuff I'm not writing as a rule of thumb. Part of that is because I get so immersed in what I'm writing that I don't want to confuse myself, but part of it is the fun of exploring characters or ships I know I won't in my own writing.
Is there a writer that you want to emulate or get compared to often?
That I want to emulate? No. I want to show my readers who I am through my writing as a way to express myself in a way I usually don't allow myself.
That I get compared to often? I'm not aware of any. But I'm also not sure how many writers in the BG3 space are writing chaptered post-game ensemble fics with a rotating third person POV that heavily feature OCs outside of Tav. It's, errr, a specific niche.
Can you tell me a bit about your writing space?
I write on my laptop. It's almost always in my living room in a specific chair, with a cup of coffee on one side and cats curled up with me. Occasionally, I'll write in my home office or at my dining room table. Sometimes, I'll also write on my desktop, depending on what's going on. Or, if I'm writing at work, I have a little "lunch nook" in my office that I'll sit in to type away.
Editing is exclusively done on my desktop computer. In lieu of printing out work to proofread, having a different space and a different monitor help immensely to catch errors.
To note, I absolutely cannot write on my phone. Outside of roleplay tags, it drives me insane. I don't know how people do it.
Every once in a while, I write things out physically with pen and paper as a treat.
What is your most effective way to muster up a muse?
I don't have a great or awe inspiring answer for this. The fact of the matter is, when inspiration hits, I know I have to run with it or it's lost.
If I'm struggling, what I will do in lieu of writing out sentences and paragraphs is to put what I want to say into note form. Then, when I go back to actually write, a lot of it is out there for me to take and use as I see fit. It helps a LOT.
Are there any recurring themes in your writing? Do they surprise you?
There are! I get teased for being the angst queen on one of my servers. But I love stories where people band together to overcome adversity. You'll find particular with my ships where, if the couple can't overcome things external to their relationship together, I get bored writing them really fast. This is partially why I struggle with smut and where I outright can't write readers.
Along the vein of readers: I can't write those or generic Tav fics at all. If I can't deep dive into characterization, my interest flies out the window.
I love running gags ("it's under new management"), well placed references, and call backs. Also, I tend to enjoy writing platonic relationships over romantic or sexual relationships.
What is your reason for writing?
I write what I want to read. Outside of that, my major motivation is wanting to explore things no one else is writing. While walking the well-trodden path might get me more interaction, it also isn't going to make me happy; I'll sacrifice smaller numbers for writing what makes me happy.
Is there any specific comment or type of comment that you find particularly motivating?
Anyone who takes the time to comment on my fic has my utmost appreciation, especially in this age where people don't comment often. It means a lot you take the time to leave one.
But my favorite is when people engage me in conversation about my fic. I have a friend who recently read throughout all of Time and Again and is working on my other fics, and they are excellent at pointing out specific characterization and narrative beats. Moments like that make me feel like the readers really get me.
How do you want to be thought about by your readers?
Well-spoken and able to execute concepts well. I put a lot of time and thought into most of what I write, and I hope that shows.
What do you think is your greatest strength as a writer?
Worldbuilding and connecting the dots. I haven't gotten a whole lot of comments from people recognizing the return of things foreshadowed chapters ago in longfic, but I do it quite a bit. My brain is naturally wired for long form content.
If I can toot my own horn, bringing characters to life and making them feel like actual people, flaws and all. I'm extremely picky about characterization and try to hold myself to a particular standard there.
When you write, are you influenced by what others might enjoy reading, or do you write purely for yourself, or a mix of both?
I answered this above: I write for myself. In my opinion, when I write what others want over what I want to write, it is absolutely apparent in the quality of my work. I'll sacrifice the numbers for what makes me really happy any day.
How do you feel about your own writing?
As someone who is typically extremely self-critical about everything I do: Writing is the one area where I am not. I'm a good writer, and I love to reread my own work.
I spent a long time practicing and writing privately and am only recently showing it to the world, and I think that makes all the difference in terms of my self-confidence.

❤️ How does the love in your heart affect how you RP? Any other notable emotions?
Tumblr media
Mun Communication meme
Tumblr media
I gotta say, reading this question made me laugh a bit as, initially, I interpreted it as "are you in a relationship or otherwise have a lot of love in your life and how does that transfer to RP, or are you single?" And I guess that just feels like a bigger deal than it is to me.
Personally, I haven't written this muse in a time I wasn't in love: when I started this blog, I was in a long-term relationship and over the past five years of writing this blog, I've gotten engaged, married, and moved into a new home with my now-husband (and our cat, Molly, who is the real boss around here!).
With that in mind, I think the way I view relationships, romantic, platonic, familial, or otherwise changes with time and perspective. In general, I'm writing a muse who is between the ages of 17 to 25 most of the time, though the longer I write various storylines the more Sonia ages along with them. I'm in my late thirties (my birthday is this month and I'm at an age where I start dreading them!) and I think what has helped me regarding the love in my personal life is being able to look back on what being in love was like at a younger age and the various conflicts and emotions that went along with them. Many of the things I considered important about relationships back then aren't even relevant to me now, but I can write similar feelings for my muse because she's at that age. Granted, she has a lot more pressure regarding marriage on her shoulders than I ever did and was forced to grow up very fast, but it's different writing a character who is in their late teens through mid-twenties looking back on that age than it is to write a character while living through that time in your life offscreen.
And a few other more specific love/romance/ship-related things that affect how I RP:
It's been quite awhile, but I distinctly remember how my approach to writing sexual intimacy changed as I both grew older and, ahem, got some real life experience. Being a virgin at 18-20 years old writing a sex scene versus being in my thirties and married writing a sex scene are two very different situations with very different purposes. Nowadays, if I'm going to write a physically intimate scene in RP I generally want it to have more meaning beyond the muses having sex (which is also why I don't post or send in sinday content! If the storyline I'm building with a writing partner is heading that way, we'll write it, but not simply due to a meme or tumblr trend).
I identify as a cisgender heterosexual woman, but my muse identifies (though she isn't always aware of it depending on the verse!) as a cisgender woman who isn't heterosexual. When writing Sonia, especially in romantic relationships with a character who doesn't identify as a cisgender heterosexual man, I try to read/watch/listen to plenty of experiences in the LGBTQ community. Whether that's news coverage, documentaries, fiction, online communities, and/or my friends' experiences when they are comfortable and interested in opening up about them, I approach it with an open mind and an understanding that this isn't my space, but I want to learn to in order to both support those who are a part of that community as well as try to write my character with authenticity and compassion. The last thing I want is to lean into uncomfortable or inappropriate tropes, fetishization, or other derogatory takes.
The hardest thing here, for me at least, is knowing that Sonia doesn't come from a family, much less a country, that supports her specifically in an LGBTQ relationship. The difficulty is writing that opposition as a challenge that Sonia must face and ultimately overcome if she's to have a recognized relationship and eventual union without making my writing partners feel uncomfortable by the hate and prejudice my character, and at times theirs as well if they're writing a ship with me, experiences.
Communication helps: I trust my writing partners to tell me when that line is crossed and I need to pull it back a bit, and I don't hesitate to do so.
tl;dr - I've written Sonia in romantic ships with men and women, and the smut unfolds organically.
