Anyway, I've recently been thinking about Berdly, and how Kris seems to be the only person to actually like him, like, at all.

If you think about it, everyone Berdly interacts with does so out of necessity, or just being too polite to shut him down completely.

Alphys throws out the apples he gives her when hes trying to be a "teacher's pet", Susie and Ralsei pretty much disregard him, Queen TOTALLY disregards him, and even Noelle, the person he would consider his BEST FRIEND seems to just be humoring him out of pity, and if she were less of a pushover, she would ditch him entirely. Pretty much all others who know him just act like he doesn't exist.

And this isn't completely unjustified, because Berdly is a fucking insufferable asshole.

He loves to brag all the time, takes credit for other people's work, and insults others constantly to make himself feel better.

But these behaviors are shown to be out of a feeling of loneliness, that he has to act out in order to be perceived, to not be forgotten. This, ironically, brings about the exact opposite effect, and just pushes others further away from him.

He has shown time and time again that he fears being alone, he desires companionship, he copes with the resentment of others by believing they must simply be jealous of his intelligence or in love with him.

Nobody likes him, nobody wants to be his friend, he always has to be the one to initiate because everyone will just avoid him.

Except Kris.

In canon, they have been shown to often be the one to seek him out, whether it's to prank call him or play games.

Kris seems to have a bit of a soft spot for him, and are willing to go out of their way to help him when he needs it (like when he accidently uninstalled minecrap and kris walked him through fixing it and NOELLE FUCKING SAID IT WAS CUTE LIKE GIRL YOU KNOW WHO THE BIG PRANK CALLER IS IN THIS TOWN YOU THINK KRIS WAS CUTE TO HIM)

Well, Kris seems to be a kind person in general, this tends to only present itself in serious situations, doing something like that seems a biiiit out of character for them.

Also the bit with him in the hospital fucking FLOORED me, like oh my god Kris you asked Susie to stay behind, turned on the radiator, changed his FUCKING WATER BOTTLE, and then noticed that "it might be your imagination, but he seems calmer" like bestie i didn't know you were NURTURING like i get dragging him across hometown to get him to the hospital and then slumping over to Noelle's house to reassure and warn her, but to FUCKING try to NURSE BERDLY BACK TO HEALTH like do you know????? do you FUCKING know???? how many hurt/comfort fics i have read??????? do you know??????????? WTFFFFFFFFFFFFF

And what's also really cute is how in the normal route the two options on the Berdly phone call in chapter 4 BOTH lead to Berdly expecting Kris to wanna be his date at the festival???? this plus the fact Susie and Noelle are canonically gonna be going together as a DATE??????

But, yeah, anyway, I think Kris genuinely cares about Berdly, possibly as more than a friend?????

you’re ten when you meet him. and you haven’t eaten in two days. 

it’s early morning, still foggy with dew, and the back alley behind the bakery is quiet, save for the soft rustle of your hands digging through the bin. you’re small enough to go unnoticed, quick enough to run if you’re not. but your legs feel heavy today. slow. your stomach cramps with every movement, and your fingers are shaking so bad you almost drop the stale muffin you find. 

you’re about to shove it into your mouth when a voice says, “hey.” 

you spin around, heart in your throat. 

a boy stands there. not much older than you. probably your age, even. but taller. sharper. he’s not wearing a shirt, just black sweatpants a little too big for his slim figure. he doesn’t look scared. doesn’t look mean, either. just curious. 

you narrow your eyes. “what do you want?” 

he remains calm, hands resting in his pockets. “nothing. just… i come here, too.” 

you blink. “to… dig?” 

he shrugs. “sometimes they throw out the ones that are only a little old. if you get here early enough, they’re not soggy yet.” 

you stare at him for a beat. and then you look down at the muffin in your hand. 

“… you want half?” you offer, quiet. 

he’s shocked. you’re too bright for someone living like this. 

“you serious?” 

you break the muffin in two, handing him the bigger half. 

“you’re weird,” he says, taking it. 

“so are you.” 

the two of you sit on the curb, eating in silence. crumbs fall into your laps. he tells you his name is michael, but he says it with an accent (mee-kha-el) and then adds, “but i prefer kaiser.” 

“why?�� you ask. 

he shrugs again. “just… sounds cooler.” 

you snort. “okay, kaiser.” 

he grins a little, and it makes your chest feel warm. 

you learn a lot about him that morning. like how he hates the rain because of how fast it soaks his already-worn-out shoes. and how his dad makes everything he does a punishment. how sometimes he climbs on top of the bus stop just to feel above it all. 

you tell him you ran away because home didn’t feel like home. you don’t give details in the moment. you don’t need to. he doesn’t ask. 

“we’re kinda the same,” he says, picking at a loose thread on his waistband. “like… like nobody wanted us. so we had to want ourselves.” 

you glance at him. it’s the first time anyone’s ever said something like that to you. something that feels true. 

you nod. “yeah. we have to be our own people.” 

he holds out a pinky. “so let’s promise.” 

“promise what?” 

“that we’ll find a way out. not just survive. like… really live. better than them. better than this.” 

your throat burns. not from hunger this time. 

you hook your pinky with his. “promise.”

years later, you’re standing in the world’s loudest stadium. confetti rains gold. his name echoes across the world. 

but michael kaiser only sees you. 

you’re at the edge of the field, eyes glassy, mouth trembling with a smile. the same way you looked when you shared half a muffin with him behind a bakery all those years ago. 

he doesn’t hesitate, he jumps the barrier, running straight into your arms. 

“we made it,” he breathes, medal warm between your chests. 

you nod, laughing through tears. “yeah. from trash bins to trophies.” 

he kisses you like a promise kept. 

and when he lifts the world cup over his head, he looks at the cameras, the crowds, the sky, but smiles only at you.

Summary: There had been an emergency meeting, made by you for Emperor Geta. He had lost his favor with the roman citizens and asked for advice.

Geta leaned back against the back of his sofa. His concubines touching his arms and chest lovingly and gently. Next to him was Emperor Caracalla with his own set of concubines, Geta seemed more desperate and serious to start the meeting while Caracalla just wanted some action and entertainment. The other generals and members of the counsel all sat opposite of them. There hadn’t been said any words. Not by the emperors nor the members yet it was clear who felt what about the meeting. Some of the counselors held their head high in hopes of new efficient information. Some others found it a waste of time but attended out of duty. The elites of the counsel especially found it a waste of time as the meeting wasn’t even called by the emperors but the a general, a woman who was a general. You, A position given to you by emperor Geta himself. Most of the members of the counsel were against it. After all what could you do? Serve them wine? The members of the counsel had made jokes about you at first, yet they all got shot down by you, countering them with either personal information or proving their points to be hypocritical. Geta had found you…admirable to put it bluntly. You had a strong head on your shoulders and you weren’t afraid to speak your mind even if it was against the Emperor of Rome himself. At first he found you quite despicable and wanted to cut your tongue out. But in hesitation and after trusting Acacius’ words, he had given in and allowed you to be a general.

The sound of your name being called could be heard all across the building until your footsteps took over. Your stride was confident, there was bo hint of nervousness of hesitation. You seemed so sure, your eyes straight to it’s target, your eyes held a strong sense of determination that even Geta could see from where he sat. Your head held high, even now when some members of counsel murmured their Insults about you at each other, the whispers didn’t seem to get at you. As if they never had any chance of reaching you. You weren’t deaf, No, you just pretended you didn’t hear them. After all, seeing them try to insult you only to get no answer back is humiliating for them. Emperor Caracalla whispered to his brother who then cleared his throat and asked you to speak. Acknowledging his request you spoke in a quite flat but matter of factly tone:

‘The emperor made a mistake by killing off general Acacius.’

Both emperors were stunned by your words and even the members of the counsel were silent for a while. You hit a sore and fresh spot, it made Geta turn to his younger brother to see if he wouldn’t have an outburst for what had happened. He can’t risk more people knowing about his brother’s disease. Yet apart from making sure his brother was still keeping it together, Emperor Geta doesn’t appreciate you commenting on his actions so bluntly and openly, especially if its a ‘mistake’. How dare you even imply such a thing? He’s the emperor! And Acacius betrayed him? Did you expect him to sit back and let it happen? It’s not like he killed him with his own hands, he let him participate in the games. Geta narrowed his eyes at you and scowled a little. What’s the point of even bringing that up? It already happend, you’re here to give solutions. Not create more tension and bring up fresh wounds.

‘Because of this fact Emperor Geta has also fallen out of favor. We need to find common ground with the commoners. After all, the games and general Acacius kept them happy, we need to please them more.’

‘And what exactly do you suggest, general? The only thing you have said until now won’t help me nor the empire.’

‘Right, we should lower the taxes for commoners and put more taxes onto the higher class.’

The members counsel flickered their gazes between you and emperor Geta. They made their distaste known by scoffing at the information. Higher taxes for the elites? Hah! Like hell they’re going to accept it. Besides the taxes go to the empire. The counsel is full of elites from noble status, wealth or just high ranking positions in the military. None of them want to pay more taxes because why would they? No one wants to pay more than they have to, the commoners would be happy yes but the elites wont, which can cause a great sense of trouble too. But…looking at it from the bright side; he will win favor with the commoners who are the majority and they will be satisfied and not protest. Hmm…Geta can’t help but contemplate your advice. It was a good plan yet it does mean that the elites may risk betraying him. He already has experienced it and doesn’t want to risk it happening once again. But he can’t discuss that in front of them, it will make him seem as if he doesn’t trust them and he doesn’t need any more people turning against him.

‘I see. I suppose you may be right. Meeting is called off. We’ll discuss it later. You’re all dismissed.’

Geta watched the men and concubines leave the room. Only leaving you and Caracalla in the big spacious hall. His eyes lingering on the door for a little longer before he turned to you. He doesn’t want the elites to hear his discussion with you.

‘If we do higher the taxes, we might risk having the elites on my bad side instead of the peasants.’

Caracalla seemed bored and turned to his brother. He didn’t see the need to appeal to the peasants. They’re only there to fund his lifestyle! Why should they pay lower taxes?

‘Brother! I disagree! Wouldn’t that mean that we’re losing on the national taxes and make losses?’

‘Yes, but we will be in more favor brother. The people of Rome will love us again, but then we also higher the risk of getting betrayed by the elites or have them conspire against us.’

‘How do we fix that then?’

Both of the brothers turned to you for an answer. Yes your idea was great but it did lack some parts. It was quite easy to fix, but ofcourse the real question is if they trust you enough for it. The recent betrayal of the general made the both of them wary of a lot of the people close to him. Which might make them question you too. At least Caracalla did, Geta seemed to at least try to trust you since he was the one who made you a general. He wouldn’t have made you one if you weren’t trustable

‘Well i simply won’t let them. You have nothing to worry about Emperor. If something like that happens i will have your back and take care for it. You won’t need to lift a finger.’

Geta seemed quite pleased with your answer and extended his hand. All of his fingers had thick, golden rings on them. It did make you wonder if he ever found them heavy enough to not wear them. You accepted his hand and placed a kiss on the back of his hand. A soft chuckle escaping Geta’s lips. You were a woman with the ambition of a man in this time, yet a woman’s body. You’re smart and he can’t deny your talent. The feeling of your soft lips on the back of his hand made him smirk a little. It’s different. Usually he feels thin, masculine and rough lips against his hand….but now it’s the pair of your own…it makes him wonder what if would feel like on his own lips…wait…what is he thinking? He can’t think of you like that. You’re his general…but he can’t deny that the fact you have the position of a man, yet you are a woman makes you insanely attractive.

Caracalla found himself sulking, even though the kiss was just a sign of respect for the emperor…still! His brother just got kissed on the hand by a woman! What a womanizer? He feels jealous. His brother always gets everything he wants. Even the pretty and cool women! It’s so unfair! Geta, who senses his brother’s dismay and jealousy waves a hand dismissively in his face.

‘Get your mind out the gutter. It’s just as normal as it would be with a man. Don’t let it get to you Caracalla.’

Caracalla scoffed at his brother and sat back on the sofa while Geta remained standing, his eyes focused on you. He still can’t get over the fact you told him that you won’t allow anyone to betray him. He likes those words. He has your loyalty…hmph, that doesn’t sound so bad. Are you perhaps buttering him up to get into his pants? He took a glance at you, you were just snacking on the grapes on the table. Not even paying attention to the emperors in front of you. Perhaps you’re not trying to get into his pants but you’re just a loyal person. hmm…perhaps he can make you his personal guard? Would you like that? He certainly would. Perhaps he’ll keep you close to himself, he could just tell you that he feels threatened…and you’d be by his side all the time. It sounds very veryyy nice. But that does require lying and false claims. But he’s no saint…as an emperor he can be just a tad bit selfish don’t you think? His hand reached it way to your cheek which was full of grapes. You looked at him confused, but he looked you deep in the eyes. Yours being focused on the dark circle eye make up.’

‘You. Would you like an higher position my lady general?’

Sam WOULD be the first to know. I mean, friends on the other side? Yes, ur defintely right!!! Actually, I'm still in the progress of Yuu's hcs, since no one is able [or atleast, hasn't] sent me or made any hcs for Yuu, so I'm doing it myself, I've made Yuu a bit too scarily smart... from my point of view. I've been watching true crime documantaries and honestly... I've actually based Yuu off with these doc videos on YouTube, mot literally of course!! Its like,,, the criminal [depends on which] is incredibly smart, and some cases weren't even solved yet and I've based Yuu of of the fact SOME missing or murder cases hasn't been active for years since it had long been since that incident happens,, until it happens again.

So, I've wanted to put Yuu on this pedestal where they struggle from Sam, to other students, emphasis on Sam btw. Yuu thinks he's annoying asf. Yuu might crash out from this guy.

And Sam has actually been helping reader, not openly of course. His 'friends' had warned him that humans in another world, perhaps might be dangerous than he might think... who knows? It hasn't been confirmed yet! But, Yuu's actions says otherwise...

The first time Sam saw Yuu and you, he knew there was something going on with that look in your eyes. It was empty, soulless, maybe? Your silence was deafening even when there were people speaking, the screams in your silence spoke about pretty much everything. So, he kept an eye out on Yuu. Never had he ever felt this strong sense of eerieness in the atmosphere prior to both the otherworlders arrival.

He wants to genuinely help you, even if it meant Yuu will spiral. But, he can't. Once Yuu comppetely spirals, what will they do? Unpredictability is an intriguing thing, but dangerous if used in a situation like this. Little imp, want something? Here, he'll give it to you, space and comfort if you will. Oh, can't reach that? His friends could help you. He shouldn't stare at you with pity, but he wants you to be 'back to normal' where your soul can freely roam, not as a spectator, but an individual as your own. Trein's cat, Lucius. This cat HATES Yuu. No, despises, Yuu. The cat literally chooses to go on readers lap but NEVER on Yuu, under any circumstances. And Trein is wary, too. For his beloved cat, had avoided a supposed admirable and heroic student? Yes, he too has suspicions on Yuu, he just doesn't want to assume.

But, his heart has this vague aching whenever he sees this child's eyes. The feeling of loss and numbness to everything, just following orders even if simple. Oh sweet dear child, what had that monster done to you?

And everytime he says 'you'. You get reminded of 'you' not you. Who...

Who are you?

Trein wants to help you find your identity again, or at least, bring back the ones they had stolen. But he can't do that, so instead he tries to make you spark an interest in something from his world, telling you small stories about himself, and even tutoring you on what you can't understand. Even if it meant it hurts seeing your hollow eyes spacing out. Please don't do whatever he thinks you might do. He wants to help you, save you, and keep you from feeling fear and the loss of purpose.

Vargas. He wouldn't know it at first, pretty sure like, around maybe,,, b4 after, whent eh incident in Scarabia ends and everyone is back to school. Vargas would see you slightly shaken from the events. And when I mean events, I mean the time where Jamil had locked both you and Yuu in the same room. Hah, it was mad terrifying. Imagine, being stuck in the same room with the person who stalks you, messeges you in the dead of night, giving you unwanted letters, killing your friend, kidnapping, and identity stealing, literally. From you. All while they claim in that same breath that they're doing this because they love you. Loving you in general, means loving what makes you, well, you.

Yuu could use this pitiful 'homeless and exploited' excuse for the entire news to hear about it and spread the next day, risking the headmage's reputation. And that, that scares the headmage. So he may have had to turn a blind-eye for it. And Vargas won't let it slide. He can't hurt students, he knows that. So he'll make sure Yuu gets to struggle a little more in this institution even when thats all in his authority can do.

You were in the early stages of your third pregnancy, only two months in and barely showing.

Looking through the fridge earlier on, you realised there was barely anything in it, which is how you ended up at the grocery store, roaming the isles and trying to find all the cheap stuff and the shit you can buy with coupons.

It wasn't uncommon for you to be hit on, even if you were pregnant or not. But you definitely got more creepy dudes trynna get into your pants when you don't look pregnant.

It was one of those rare days you didn't have Rickon or Gilliane in your care Instead, Cregan's sister, Sara, offered to take them for the day since he hadn't seen her niece or nephew in a while.

You walk into the aisle to grab some milk when a man walks up to you, a sly smirk on his face. "Hey miss, noticed you around."

"Yeah?" You mumble, not even looking away from the milk. "Yeah.. how's your day honey?" Honey? That's a new one. "Good, thank you."

You walk away from the guy, not even seeing what he looks like just walking away to look at the meats. But the guy doesn't give up.

"What's a beauty like you slummin' it out 'ere?" He grumbles into your ear, too close for your liking. "Dunno. Like m' home comforts."

You walk off, yet again. Just to get the last stuff, some of the cereal you've been craving for the past week and a six pack of beers for Cregan.

"Oo strong stuff sweetheart, want me t' come round and help you finish those off?" Strong stuff? They're shitty little beers, not even enough to even try and get Cregan drunk, just something he can sup on when you force him to watch whatever.

You turn around to finally look at him with a condescending smile, "Sorry sir, 'm not gonna drink 'em-" , "Why not sweetheart?" You were annoyed that he interrupted you but you still stayed smiling, "'m pregnant."

And there it goes, the pin drop. His face falls, no one likes a 'single', pregnant woman. But something was different. His smirk quickly returns to his face again, "Nah, you're lyin' sweetheart, c'mon.. let me buy it for y'- let me buy y' cart."

Now that you can't refuse.

So you let him pay for your whole cart, he didn't even notice the baby formula or any of the extra stuff you slid into the cart when he wasn't looking on the way to the register.

You even flirted a little, pulling your shirt down to let your tits pop out a bit more.

When you finally bagged everything and walked out, walking to 'your' truck, he asked again about drinking the beers with you.

When you reached the car, after putting the bags in the open back, he finally looks up at the drivers side which he saw a large, burly man sitting in it. His arm resting out of the window, his head tilted to the side, watching him.

"Uh- who's this huh? Your brother? He why you've got them beers? Huh pretty lady?" He grins at you. You return a bitchy smile and speak, "Yeah he is, my husband loves beer, don't ya baby?"

Cregan smirks at that. Husband. He hadn't ever even talked to you about marriage before but you both belonged to each other and you both knew it.

The guy just scoffs, laughing slightly before realising you were being serious. He looks a little shocked before turning to Cregan, "Fine, whatever, but your fuckin' slut was flirtin' with me the entire time man."

That made Cregan's smirk turn into a scowl. He quickly opens the car door, hopping out. The guy backs away slightly as he slams it shut, walking towards him. "What did y' jus' say? Huh? Call my woman a slut? Who the fuck are you then? Huh?"

Cregan gets in his face, towering over him like he does everyone else. Cregan was clearly intimidating him, not liking how he spoke towards you.

"What? Nothin' t' say? Fuckin' asshole. Talkin' shit 'bout my fuckin' wife? A don' think y' know who y' messin' with-" , "Cregan! C'mon, the Big Bang theory's on soon!" You shout from the passenger window.

Cregan grumbles, not looking away from the trembling man, "Y' lucky m' girls 'ere." He barks out, turning around and getting back into the drivers seat, driving off within a few seconds.

"Flirtin' huh?" You just smirk, staring at the road in front of you, "He said he was gonna pay f' my groceries." Cregan bursts out in laughter, smirking at you, "That's m' girl."

I love Wally and Bart getting along but I also love Bart deciding that if Wally doesn’t like him he’ll give him a reason bc it’s hilarious

Like Wally’s about to lose his goddamn mind bc this is the seventh time he’s tried to vent (complain) about Bart to another hero (speedster or otherwise) and gotten the response is ‘Bart, really? He’s a little silly at times but he’s a good kid” 

Bart dials up his mildly obnoxious persona to a million like full on annoyance and active inconvenience when Wally’s around and no one ever believes him

Like he shoves Wally at superspeed and goes ‘aw man did you not eat today?? You gotta be a little more responsible!’ whole time he waited until right before Wally got home and ate everything then left a note like ‘thanks a million - ✌🏾😋’ 

Bart definitely goes ‘huh’ and makes people repeat themselves like twelve times or until they get fed up and then they blink and he’s already answered or done whatever they asked and he’s giggling ‘nah, I’m just fucking with you’

Or complete opposite direction, Barts quiet and serious whereas if Wally’s not around he’s vibrant, loud, argumentative, and goofy so Wally jokes that Barts ‘a little too quiet for a speedster esp one from central’ and whoever he’s talking to looks at him funny bc ‘quiet?? Are you joking?? That mf never shuts up, he giggled through a 6 hour meeting with the jl like the entire meeting istg. He made me laugh so hard yesterday batman put me on surveillance duty for six months’ 

And he only speaks to Wally directly if he has to or they’re in the field so someone tries to pair him up with Wally for training 

And he’s like “no I’m good ngl I’d rather work with Thad and he’s on his ‘there can only be one’ bs rn” and everyone is so confused bc Bart will work with practically anyone including Thad so this is an extreme reaction and he’s like “Wally hates me 🤨 why would I willingly subject myself to that???” And Wally’s like I didn’t think you’d notice and Bart shoots back yeah bc you think I’m a moron

A slight shift in how he’d stand around you, a careful glance when you laughed too hard at something someone else said. And that was before the whole ‘guard dog’ thing started.

It all started on a chilly evening at the Holy Knights' headquarters, just before the sun dipped below the horizon. You had ventured outside for a bit of fresh air, enjoying the quiet after a long day filled with political maneuvering and the endless chorus of military orders.

And that’s when it happened.

A voice—loud, obnoxious, and far too familiar—broke the evening's peace.

"You there! Yeah, you!" The voice came from a young noble, arrogantly strutting towards you with a lecherous smirk on his face. "How about you and I get better acquainted? I’m sure someone as fine as you would want a man with power."

You barely had time to roll your eyes before Howzer appeared from the shadows like a hero in one of those old stories—except there was nothing dignified about his sudden arrival. The weight of his presence seemed to shake with every step, and the wind around him seemed to stir as if reacting to his presence.

The noble froze as Howzer's lance pointed directly at his chest.

"I suggest you move along before you regret it," Howzer said, his voice booming with authority, though his posture was stiff. His usual confidence was tempered with something... more serious.

The noble blinked, not expecting the sudden confrontation. "And who the hell are you?" he sneered, clearly unafraid.

"Howzer, the Great Holy Knight," he stated proudly, though his voice had a slight quiver in it, betraying his nervousness. "And this is my charge. So unless you want a taste of my Tempest, I recommend you walk away."

The noble laughed, clearly unimpressed. "Ha! Tempest? What kind of name is that for a knight?"

But Howzer didn’t budge. His lance shifted ever so slightly, the air around it stirring with an invisible force. The wind picked up, and it seemed like the very atmosphere was pulling the noble’s clothes, making it difficult for him to move.

You watched in both amusement and awe as the young noble struggled to remain standing.

"Alright, alright," the noble stammered, backing off with his hands up. "I get it! I’m going!"

Once he was out of sight, Howzer turned to you, looking entirely too pleased with himself.

“Did you see that?” Howzer grinned. “Did you see how I totally scared that guy off?”

You couldn’t help but laugh. “You certainly scared him, alright. But I think you may have scared him more with your, uh, dramatic entrance.”

His expression fell slightly, and he scratched the back of his head awkwardly. “I was just trying to make it cool. You know... like one of those knights in the stories.”

“You certainly looked the part,” you teased, not missing the slight blush that spread across his cheeks.

Howzer shifted uncomfortably, looking away. “It’s just… when I see someone like that guy bothering you, I... I get all protective. Like I need to shield you from people who don’t know how to behave around someone as important as you.”

You chuckled. "Howzer, I can handle myself. But it’s... sweet, in a weird way."

"Sweet?" His face turned an even darker shade of red, and he puffed out his chest a little, trying to regain some of his earlier bravado. "I’m just doing what any good knight would do!"

"Good knight, huh?" you raised an eyebrow, smiling. "Or maybe a romantic knight? Seems like you’re getting a little... too protective."

He froze, his face now the color of a freshly ripened tomato. "I—what? No! I’m not—"

You laughed, watching as Howzer fumbled for words, trying to act serious, but the awkwardness only made him seem more endearing.

“Yeah, sure, Howzer. Just a good, old-fashioned knightly loyalty," you teased, leaning against the wall and crossing your arms. "No romantic feelings involved."

His eyes widened for a split second, but he quickly recovered, giving a nervous chuckle. "W-well, I’m not denying that you’re... nice to look at... but that’s all! It’s just... protective instincts!"

The two of you stood there for a moment, the awkward tension between you only growing more pronounced. Then, as if sensing an opportunity to get back on track, Howzer cleared his throat and straightened up.

“So, uh, speaking of protecting,” he said, his tone shifting to something more serious. “If you ever need anything, you know, anything at all, I’ll be there. No questions asked.”

You tilted your head, looking at him more closely. "Even if I need a shoulder to cry on? Or maybe someone to watch terrible romance dramas with?”

His expression faltered for a brief moment, before he broke into an exaggerated grin, though it was clear he was still a bit flustered.

"Well... I might need some time to prepare for that kind of mission... But if it means protecting you, I’m game!"

You chuckled again, shaking your head. "You're something else, Howzer."

“Yep, that’s me,” he said with a wink, though his heart was clearly racing beneath his tough exterior. "The one and only, Great Holy Knight Howzer, protector of the fair and beautiful you."

"Just don’t go getting any romantic ideas, okay?" you smirked, half-joking.

His eyes widened again. "I-I—no! Not what I meant! I swear, you’ve got the wrong idea!"

You couldn't help but laugh at how cute and utterly ridiculous Howzer was acting. "You're alright, Howzer. Don’t worry. I won’t go running off anytime soon."

Howzer let out a sigh of relief, a bright grin spreading across his face. "Good! Because I'm not letting anyone mess with you... romantically or otherwise."

As he stood there, striking what he thought was a very heroic pose, you couldn't help but smile at the oddly sweet, protective side of him that had emerged.

Maybe Howzer wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but when it came to loyalty? He was a diamond.

And for some reason, that meant more to you than you cared to admit.

Lancelot

In the world of knights, monsters, and prophecies, Lancelot—a prince, a knight, a warrior with a big name—had his own unique role to play. But on this particular day, his role was something far less glamorous than vanquishing evil or battling ancient beasts. Today, he was your personal guard dog.

Sure, he didn’t exactly fit the traditional image of a dog. No fur-coated beast panting in the corner, no wagging tail to show his mood. Instead, he stood tall, his magenta-red eyes sharp and calculating, his posture poised like a predator in the wild. But make no mistake—Lancelot was every bit the protective creature. He just happened to wear the appearance of a brooding, 16-year-old Holy Knight and not the fluffier variety.

It had started innocently enough. You, tired of being bombarded with strangers who couldn’t seem to mind their own business, found Lancelot’s presence comforting in a way you hadn’t expected. The boy—well, not exactly a boy, given his heritage—seemed to understand. Every time someone came too close, his stance changed. His expression grew colder, his shoulders squared. There was a quiet intensity about him that whispered, “Get any closer, and you’ll regret it.”

You didn’t even have to say anything. Without a word, he took his place by your side, exuding an aura of intimidation that immediately sent any would-be interloper scurrying. And you? You felt a little bit safer.

The first time it happened, you had been walking through a crowded market square, and some merchant was getting far too enthusiastic in his sales pitch. With a sleazy grin plastered on his face, he had sidled up to you, practically oozing charm. You had tried to smile politely and brush him off, but Lancelot, standing behind you, wasn’t having it.

He took one glance at the merchant, then turned to you with a look that clearly said, “Do you want me to handle this?” And before you could even answer, his posture had shifted. He straightened up like a well-trained soldier, and the merchant immediately took several steps back, his grin faltering.

You might have expected Lancelot to unleash some scathing words—he was, after all, a prince and a knight—but instead, he merely raised an eyebrow. That was it. The man hastily muttered something about needing to ‘go see a man about some spices,’ and practically ran off.

“Did you... just scare him off?” you asked, blinking in confusion.

Lancelot shrugged nonchalantly. “Some people just need to understand boundaries.”

From that moment on, you realized that he was no mere bodyguard. No, Lancelot was an intimidator. His sheer presence warded off unwanted attention like a magical barrier, and you were more than happy to let him do his thing.

Of course, it wasn’t always as serious as it seemed. Lancelot had his moments of humor, albeit in his own dry, blunt way. You had once been approached by a group of overly curious tourists who just couldn’t stop asking about your "fox companion"—the tiny, strawberry-red furred Sin. They marveled at his cuteness, cooed, and asked ridiculous questions like, “Is he magical?” and “What’s his name?”

Lancelot, in his fox form, blinked once and then sat up on his haunches, letting out a tiny, nonchalant “Hmph,” which had them instantly confused. But what followed was a mere tilt of his head and a gaze so cold it could freeze the air. The tourists quickly realized they were not in the presence of an ordinary animal but of something much more... dangerous. They stammered a few apologies and left in a hurry.

As they scuttled away, you couldn't help but laugh. “You know, you don’t always have to be so intimidating.”

Lancelot’s response was a simple flick of his ear. “I’m just doing my job,” he muttered, though there was a hint of pride in his voice.

Despite his cold demeanor, you could tell he understood the value of making others feel comfortable, especially in situations where you were made uneasy by too much attention. He had grown up with the weight of both royal expectations and personal struggles, and somewhere along the way, he had learned the art of keeping people at arm’s length. In his eyes, being seen was often far more trouble than it was worth.

One day, during a particularly dull council meeting in Liones, you found yourself once again seated beside Lancelot. The room was full of murmurs and opinions, but you could hardly focus. Your mind wandered, and you found yourself feeling—well, uncomfortable. Eyes seemed to linger a little too long in your direction. There was something about the way the knights around the table kept looking over at you that just didn’t sit right.

As if sensing your discomfort, Lancelot turned to you. He didn’t speak—there was no need for words. His eyes simply locked onto yours for a split second, and in that moment, he stood up. Without hesitation, he positioned himself slightly in front of you, like a barrier, then let out a low, almost imperceptible growl that only you and the person closest to him could hear.

The others in the room seemed to freeze. The air grew still. He didn’t even have to do anything dramatic—no flashy display of power or magic. It was simply Lancelot, in all his intimidating, stoic glory, casting a long shadow that made everyone suddenly forget their curiosity. It was also a good way to keep people focused on the topic at hand.

“You alright?” he asked you a moment later, his voice softer but still carrying that quiet authority.

You nodded, feeling an overwhelming sense of relief. “Yeah, thanks. That... that was a nice touch.”

He gave a half-smile. “No one should make you uncomfortable. It’s my job to make sure that doesn’t happen.”

And, honestly, you were more than happy with that arrangement. Because, despite his serious demeanor and the intense aura of a knight on a mission, Lancelot was your personal guard dog in a world full of chaos. And while he didn’t always admit it, the more time you spent together, the more you realized that perhaps, just maybe, he enjoyed the role a little more than he let on.

Not that he’d ever say it out loud, of course. After all, a guard dog like him had a reputation to uphold.

I took an interest in The Bad Batch around the tailend of S2. It's not news to Tumblr that I almost slept on this show. And I cannot thank Caleb Dume enough for being the reason why I pressed the play button for this one. While I haven't been around for most of its active run, and I wish I had been, the last year has been among the best months of my life.

This show challenged my morals, and taught me lessons that I will forever take with me.

Tech taught me to embrace and take pride in who I am. I now think that I am not something that needs to be cured. I needed to be understood and accepted. He taught me that we deserved to be loved and be allowed to live the way we want to (as long as we are not causing harm to ourselves or to others).

Hunter taught me that at the end of the day, we're all still humans. We make mistakes. We fail. But we can learn from them, and we can strive to be better. And I should also take care of my hair bec I cannot accept that a man in a galactic war have better hair than me (Okay, did you honestly think I'm gonna be serious this entire essay?)

Crosshair taught me that at the end of the day, we really are still humans. Sometimes, we make choices that not everyone will understand or agree to. Sometimes, we don't even understand our own choices. But we can learn from them, and we can strive to be better. And that I should also go to therapy bec istg my hand shakes like hell I always need to rely on a pen stabilizer when doing my artworks.

Wrecker taught me that in this world where we can be anything, always choose to be kind. He is a great man who would always be there for everyone, and I hope that one day, I can be that person too. He is afraid of heights, but he climbs and go on high places anyway. Like him, I should also start conquering my fears. Dear Wrecker, I did try conquering my fear of heights last March 9 but I can't. I will try again.

Echo taught me to always fight for the greater good. Almost two years ago, me and a group of people campaigned for a great tomorrow. With pink flags and pink balloons, we worked on our little thing I like to call our rebellion. Sadly, we lost. At times, I am thinking of just giving up bec that's democracy and I cannot go against the people's decision, but characters like Echo and the rest of Rogue One taught me that nothing should ever stop me for fighting for the people's rights and that my love for my fellow citizens should always come first before hatred.

And lastly, Omega taught me to be curious, or more likely to not be ashamed for being curious. Learn about the world. Learn about lots of things. We never know when we need it. While I could say be good at strategy and win 30 grand on card games, nahhh, I'm not that smart.

I also learned to reevalutate myself as an artist. This show taught me integrity. I had ranted about this lately but these characters challenged me in terms of art. I knew that the creators aren't best at proper representation. While I could draw them as they are in the show, I choose to stand for what is right, and represent them as properly as my skills could. In the more technical side, I became good at drawing armors. And this little Actors AU Draw Series taught me to be responsible; I tried my very best to create and post them on time. This increased my productivity.

But enough about me.

There's something I realized two nights ago; we, the fandom, are Bad Batchers ourselves. We can consider ourselves a family, but not one of us is the same and we're all interesting, and capable in our own unique ways. We can have our own opinion and stand about something and still coexist. Like our favorite charactera, we embrace and celebrate our differences.

This show may end. No more Bad Batch Eves, no more cryptic tweets that cause us to hyperventilate, no more Bad Batch Wednesdays but it will live on, through us.

I know there will be a day where we decrease in number, one by one, little by little, but still, the show will live on through our actions, our opinions, our choices we make after May 1, 2024 because I know that all of us were changed in some ways by these characters and this show.

To the crew, your cryptic tweets caused me sleepless nights, but thank you so, so much. It is through your hardwork that we had this wonderful show. Thank you for making every second of the past year so worthwhile and enjoyable for me and for everyone.

However this show will end, whether happy or sad, I am glad it happened. However short my time was with them, I am happy I had been here. However short my time with everyone in the fandom was or if some of you leave one day, still, thank you so much for being part of my life; I am so happy I met all of you.

To Clone Force 99, thank you. I've never loved anything like this before. May the Force be with you.

When I was 14 and dealing with stress (ie, bickering going on with fam and with my sibling that wasn't that serious/the latter just made me feel like shit, but this was the first actual stressor I got, and school stress first started hitting) I made a 'very good' decision.

This was a lie, but honestly, it's better than some other coping mechanism I could've gone to.

A 14-year-old me made the decision to force myself to pretend my favourite show existed to the point where I would be convinced I was telepathically communicating with characters and that on my 16th birthday, I would be whisked away.

The show was Winx, yes.

This is where you laugh.

That's where Iorda (oc) came from actually, but at that time I just gave her my name. Y'know how Iorda is the fairy of dark arts and all?

YEaH that's who I made myself think I was. I think I had doubts deep down all this shit was real, but I deluded myself so much istg.

I thought, yes, I was telepathically communicating with Musa. Clearly a coping mechanism when I needed comfort irl but ANYWAY. I thought the Trix were threatening me in my dreams.

I was kinda out of it during those two years ngl, and also didn't really do my best to think about the actual relationships I had in real life.

Dear god that Winx quote, "faries think of others before themselves," or whatever that was messed me up so bad. Again, Winx was the only thing I cared about cause delulu, so the quotes I viewed like a fucking Bibble.

Self-hatred issues probably stemmed from that ngl. I remember staring up at the roof and telling myself shitty things because I thought irl relationships failing (ie, sibling relationships) was my fault and that I needed to try harder and that I was being selfish.

(Still unpacking and fixing that but-)

But yeah, this shit stopped when I watched Arcane. I saw Jinx and I realized that since I relate to her, something must be wrong with me.

I was researching Jinx and I read that she suffered from delusions (I didn't suffer from that, more so just extreme escapism) but yeah, that kinda scared me enough to stop. Three months before my 16th birthday, so that birthday was kind of a rude awakening.

Between that and now were some strange years though ngl.

Like, I was afraid to do anything Winx-related and would cry/stress if I thought I was 'getting back into that place' again. Got over that, lol, thank fucking god. Cried myself to sleep over that a few times.

Also didn't trust my own thoughts a lot of the time, and thought other people were secretly against me for a few months. Making decisions was hell, and I couldn't really mentally regulate myself. So the thing I decided to do (actually a good decision) was just thinking what my comfort characters would want me to do.

My comfort characters were the Trix (and no I didn't think they were real at this time, but they were the resource I had) and half the time, what I thought they would say was, 'bitch please stop hating yourself and keep working on your mental health.'

This lasted awhile (four years) and only really stopped two months ago. I can regulate myself without thinking of comfort characters now so yay. Things improve.

Also, ofc getting out of That Place (delulu-ville) I didn't have much motivation for the future, specifically school. I just told myself when high school started to be smart (like Darcy lol, once again, didn't think they were real at the time, but I had to get myself motivated somehow) and faked it for a few months before actually getting motivated.

Gurl was the reason I've been able to work on my mental health for four years ngl.

No longer in delulu-Ville, I can now regulate myself. SO YEAH-

That's the reason Winx Club is special to my heart (mainly from how the Trix as comfort characters helped get me out of the things that came after delulu-Ville).
