I hadn't realised how much the engineering design of the SOH involved "electronic digital computers" (as the article says, it has to use the term to "differentiate the work from human and analogue computers"). In fact, the software used internally at Arup started to be sold externally three years after the completion of the building, and the piece's author works for the software company.

When he was a little kid, Somati had a nightmare. He was someone else, turning his head away from a monitor, it was dark, and he could hear movement in the hive. He felt horrible anticipation, dread, he knew it shouldn't be a noise at this time of day. He heard it at different times, not this at this time, never at this time. Everything was kind of... blue? the room was a mess.

He was glowing, he was the color white, and everything got blue when he approached it. He didnt hear footsteps when he walked. he saw something in the dark. he was looking at the same computer as before, opposite side of the room. An orange and green mixture ran along the floor. He saw a mass of dark shapes inside the recupricoon.

He woke up crying, but he could never figure out what it meant.

Tbh I'm willing to give the game a lot of leeway on the combat changes because it so desperately needed a revamp. I'm not saying it'll be perfect or that it necessarily moved in my preferred direction but they clearly saw the issues and attempted to address them so I have hope

oringes are perfect snackfoods for little gobbies who like doing precision work involving fragility, precision, and threads but don't want to actually put work into a real task

they're also great for all the textured-fabric-picker-atters who grew up with moms who scolded their nervous habits without providing a suitable alternative so they tried sewing and knitting and making friendship bracelets to try to scratch that same itch but also grew up in a manner that made those practices unsustainable and now they have to fix every little tiny thing they look at but that's exhausting because everything needs fixing in one way or another so they stare at their phone all day to keep from going crazy

A small, dark room, with blood stains and sticky notes. The biomedical lab has a homunculi containment apparatus, a medical printer, chemical analyzers, PCR readers, a surgical arm with interchangeable parts, an operating theater, and more. Although, much of the biomedical equipment is stored elsewhere in the facility. The only two current medical researchers are Dr. Treetop, an engineer with fourteen years at Focus Labs, and Dr. Cuautle, a pharmaceuticalist with one.
