aside from the absolutely disrespectful farewell for logan sargeant, i cant believe we are doing this shit again.

lets take it back.

its 2022. logan is announced to be driving for williams in 2023. he scores 1 point the entire year and is trolled the whole time for never performing. james vowles resigns him for the 2024 season nonetheless and says that they believe in him to grow and improve. he doesn't, and for he's abandoned by the team before the season even ends.

but the only reason logan was underperforming in the first place was because it was too early. sure, he had done 1 year in f2, but the type of people who do one year in f2 and win big in f1 are the charles leclercs, oscar piastris, and george russells of the world, and not everyone is like that. he needed more experience, more confidence, more familiarity - none of which he got enough of in 1 year.

and now its happening again, but worse. franco colapinto has no future in formula 1 - racing for 9 races, being replaced the next year, and not being able to go back to f2 is the dictionary definition of the death of a career. he'll likely find a spot at the back of the garage as a reserve driver for the forseeable future. worse yet, franco has even less experience than logan. he is an f2 rookie this year. he hasnt even completed a full season. hes raced in an f1 car maybe 3 times ever. he doesnt even have a full super license. logan's replacement should be better than him, bring in more money than him, guaranteed to do better than logan has or may, at the very least so that unceremoniously dropping logan in the middle of the season is a bit more justified - but franco is none of those things, and cannot be promised to be any of those things. franco has won fewer times than logan, is placing lower than logan did in f2. he is not promised to be great in the same way kimi antonelli or liam lawson are promised to be. and the argentine money and support may be plenty, but is it more than the american money? the established support, fans, and popularity logan has? i want to clarify this is not a hate post on franco colapinto, but it is simply reality. williams is dropping logan for failure to perform and the unlikelihood of performance later this season, which means they need to pick up someone who has demonstrated the potential to perform and will certainly perform this season, because driver swaps are costly and risky, and franco is simply not a safe bet or solution.

this is not the fulfillment of a dream for franco colapinto, it is the murder of a career. james vowles knows that alex albon and carlos sainz will be driving next year. he knows franco is inexperienced and therefore will very likely replicate logan's lack of results. he knows that graduating him to f1 will mean he cannot return to f2. he knows that he has not planned a future for franco at williams past these next 9 races. why would he do this? franco will have to settle for driving reserve or fucking off next year, and finding your footing in a completely different racing series is difficult, especially when you're young and your career has changed so rapidly. over the years it has been demonstrated time and time again that we never learn from our mistakes, and that the history book will forever be repeating itself, and this saga is only another chapter in said history book. in 4 months we will likely be watching franco colapinto race in formula 1 for the last time ever, and maybe at the end of it all james will finally reconsider replacing inexperienced rookies with inexperienced rookies.

edit: i was under the impression that there was a rule against going back to f2 after you get into f1, but apparently there isnt. even so, its rather unlikely because f2 teams have more than enough young prospects to choose from next year, and often cant afford an ex f1 driver's salary. plus its still a sad move career wise for franco; the likelihood of him making it in f1 after racing 9 races, going back to f2, and going back into f1 again is very unlikely.

i cant stop thinking about tumble times so i have an AU to share (mostly a rundown of said au, but i sprinkled in some headcanons and stuff) basically tcd but scar and jimmy were a duo for a really long time?? i dont know how it would really collide with Jimmys evo smp lore and all of that, but for now im just gonna say during a portal jump jimmy got transported elsewhere. aka TCD when jimmy arrives hes unprepared, unaware of whats happened and only knowing that hes the only person alive, similar to how scar mustve felt when the apocalypse first happened. so, with how dangerously clumsy he may be at times, he manages to get himself geared up and find some good supplies to start building his own shelter. thats when he meets Scar, and unknowingly Jimmy has been taking his stuff, and Scar only started to realise when he was taking his food. somehow they never crossed paths, but once Scar actually realised it was another kid like him he was overjoyed. someone alive!! someone breathing and talking!! sure he may be a clutz and kinda new to this stuff, but surely scar can teach him!!! of courseee they bond, every night they stay huddled in the same room to stay warm and they share everything they can, they learn more about each other over time, and jimmy learns that scars name isnt actually scar. from jimmys pov it seems a bit odd to be named after a weapon, but from scars pov he thinks it makes him look super cool, jimmy totally thinks hes badass and strong when scars health starts taking a noticeable downgrade jimmy is the first (and only) person to help him, offering him support while walking and even trying to find wheelchair or some sort of mobility aid for him to help him out when they travel far for supplies. in short, they were there for each other since they were the only people around. scar still remembers giving Jimmy his favourite coat when it got chilly outside, he still remembers how jimmy never got used to the sound of zombies, he still remembers how he raved about his life back at home. it gave him hope in some way. maybe they could get out alive by some otherworldly miracle. of course, thats not how it works in this world. on a very risky supply run at night, jimmy and scar found themselves surrounded by zombies near their own base, and the first thing jimmy thinks to do is boost up scar so he can get inside the base. not noting that he wouldnt be able to make it in time before the zombies overwhelmed him. maybe he did know that. maybe not. its not like scar would ever know. scar didnt even get his coat back after that. it stayed on jimmys rotted corpse, and scar refused to shoot him, letting him wander around the base for much longer then he should have. and maybe that zombie was the first one to get to scar when he let the zombies kill him in the last episode. maybbbeeeee... BUT THEN THE LIFE SERIES HAPPENED!!! (i dont have many ideas for that part, still working on ittt.. but this was such a long post so ill cut it off here!! I HOPE U ENJOY!)

OUGHHHH THATS SO GOOD.... I NEED AN EMOTIONAL REUNION WHERE THEYY CRY AND HUG EACH OTHER REALLY TIGHTLY BECAUSE THEY CANT BELIEVE THE OTHER IS ALIVE AND HERE....

Gale reviews: Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)

Alright so I FINALLY saw the movie and after an ordeal with the AMC

I can finally give my thoughts on this movie.

So in order to properly rank this. I will put the following Categories.

Animation:

This movie is Absolutely Gorgeous. Every mushroom, every brick has been lovingly crafted. I LOVE the attention to details, I love how hard each hit feels in this movie. The Choreography in this and flow is incredible. Illumination's eye for visual slapstick is still on a league of its own and it fits very well with the movie.

The character expressions all flowed great and you felt sucked in by the expression. It was like watching a Mario game. Brooklyn, The Mushroom kingdom, The Dark Lands, The Ice Kingdom, The Kong kingdom and Rainbow road ALL felt distinct and flowed. I am IN LOVE with this movies asthetic. The action was perfectly paced, I would even say it matched and surpassed the flowing animation of Puss in boots Last wish.

Plot

So its pretty straight forward, Bowser tries to take over the kingdom, and he needs to be stopped. Mario and Luigi end up sucked into the mushroom kingdom trying to make a name for themselves as plumbers and get separated.

Mario ends up meeting Toad, Peach and Donkey Kong and the crew end up fighting Bowser and Saving Luigi. It starts as a trip to get reinforcements to fight the koopa army, turns into a race on rainbow road, then turns into a fight at a wedding and then finally a showdown in Brooklyn.

Mario and Luigi save the day and end up finding a connecting route to the the Mushroom kingdom and Brooklyn.

Now there is a LOT that happens in between these plot points and I will say it does feel a bit fast at times. But It is entertaining, Mario and Peach bond. And the scale and excitement never decreases. It is solid.

I wish more time could be spent in some places but thats mainly a pacing thing. and its the only real gripe I have.

Characters

I think I will break this up into multiple sections.

Mario: I will say it, the previews took all the worst bits of Chris Pratt's VA work. Because he actually did a bang up job, I didnt hear Chris Pratt, I heard Brooklyn Mario (And the Accents are explained to be part of the commercial which has Charles cameo AMAZINGLY done)

I liked Mario's character, he was a guy that wanted to prove himself and doesnt know when to quit. Mario also doesnt like mushrooms, it was funny. He can get down on himself, but push comes to shove he is Mario and will do anything for those he loves. He has some cute bonding moments with Peach and they have a good chemistry, which I can say could be romantic or not, both are fine ways of interpretation. His goal and lengths he is willing to go to save his brother are great and I love it. Mario is great in the movie.

Peach: I will admit, I was worried on how they handled peach here. I knew they were going to make her a girl boss. And I do think that she is not as Feminine or Charming as what one would expect from Peach... BUT she has the good heart and cares for her subjects. Which Peach will be self sacrificing to help her people, but also will do what she can to mess with Bowser. As shown in her fight at the wedding. She and Mario got a good dynamic and I enjoy the roll. Though I do like that she isnt invincible, she can be outmatched and there are things even she thinks are too risky.

Luigi: I feel robbed. Not because Luigi's performance was bad, FAR FROM IT. I wanted MORE Luigi. Luigi was captured for most of the movie and had the funniest bits. He also had his big hero moment and really helped drive home one of the big lessons. I am glad that he is supportive of brother and he thinks he is the coolest guy. The characterization of Luigi was PERFECT. But as mentioned before, I wanted more of him

Toad: He was a delight. I think he has great comedic moments and I love how he just claims Mario as his BFF. He gets really funny jokes and the bits are usually out of left field. My favorite has to be how he distracted the guards, I wont dare spoil it, but it involves a Frying pan.

Donkey Kong: I thought I would hate DK. I still am not sold on the voice... THAT BEING SAID. Donkey Kong being the show off big shot that cant see past his own ego and just wants his dad to be proud of him was not what I expected but enjoyed. He also has some good moments. One moment you think he is gonna bond with Mario over Dad issues but then left turn, he goes "Well your dad's right, you suck"

It just sort of works for them, they have this frenemies vibe that I love.

Bowser:

Bowser steals the movie. He is the funniest character. He is the best character. HE WROTE A LOVE BALLAD FOR PEACH called "Peaches". He is goofy yet Intimidating. Jack Black's voice for him was perfect and the Character acting was on point. Jack Black NAILED BOWSER. He is DEFACTO Bowser. I cant say enough of how amazing his bowser was. It was just so perfect.

The others: From Mario's extended family, The Koopas, Kamek, kranky, the Luma, The Penguins. I LOVED all the side characters. I cant name one I didnt enjoy. Shout out to the Blond Kong in a sports Blazer who casually caused a kart crash of a By-stander

Now Aside from Bowser I cant say the characters are deep, but they were not meant to be. They were what they needed to be. I enjoyed all the characters on screen and never felt myself loathing not seeing a certain character for longer.

solid 8/10 (Jack black and bowser are 10/10 tho)

So I wanted to give this a 10/10, but I cant.

I found some of the random 80's rock songs a bit out of place. It is Illumination.

But outside of those songs, when they are doing the mario music and themes they ARE GLORIOUS. Bowser's fury theme and the Remixed Star theme were my personal favorites

All of the mario music is beautifully crafted. You know papa nintendo made sure they did it justice.

Overall, 8/10

The 80's songs werent the worst pick but they werent needed. Should have just stuck with the mario stuff.

But... it is illumination.

Lesson

I wasnt expecting the Super mario bros Movie to have a lesson, and to my surprise it had 2 lessons.

Never give up. Mario shows throughout the entire movie his grit and determination no matter how much people look down on him or underestimate him. He got back up and kept fighting.

The power of Brotherly love. Luigi had faith in his brother who was always there for him. And he knew that things will be alright as long as they were together. And Luigi took it to heart, learning that what his brother said was true. Brotherly love made them invincible (well actually it was the power star, but it was because of that love they were able to get it.)

I am not gonna put it at the level of Puss in Boots the last wish. But its some good lessons

this doesnt fit with my planned Disco OCs answers because I can easily say no for them off the top of my head without much thought, but I do think my Cyberpunk man Vance gets some sort of fucked up thrill from drawing blood when fighting with knives in close combat. the smell makes him sick for trauma reasons (best friend died horribly) but he's a vengeful & impulsive adrenaline junkie, ofc he likes getting into risky fights and making his enemies bleed

funny thing is he almost always feels guilty about hurting people anyway. hes just very good at hiding it under a sarcastic veneer <3

this is a big reason he falls for Arcelis so hard when flirted with. he wants to think somebody actually wants him for who he is, even if he is a corrupt politician blatantly manipulating him, and it (obviously) gets him into a fuckton of trouble.

basic history behind this is he and his mom were abandoned by his father before he was even born, his mom died as a teenager, the uncle who took him in literally only did so as a favor to his sister who'd died and treats him like shit. I think part of him thinks he has to Make Up For Something because people keep leaving and he wonders why HE hasnt been a victim of circumstance yet. why does he have to stay and suffer?? not even to mention Arcelis breaking up with him and Joakim dying for him ...

he doesnt unlearn this by the time he gets involved with Harry OR Kim. thats a point I particularly want to make. he isnt magically fixed by these relationships and would sacrifice his own life for them in a heartbeat whether they appreciate it or not. something something ... life without them would be more painful than dying. at least he wouldnt have to face more loss that way

Melanie and Donna both super competent. The message ...people always thinking they're right... always 'winning' and therefore losing. i like the message, but did get a smidge of 'thomas edison is witch' stuff from the problem of the internet. idk.... children on their computers too much and ghosting and cancelling bad. i mean... well fundamentally i guess i agree im just a bit sensitive. brilliant scene with kate - some really good stuff... i agree so fundamentally with RTD about this, that all that conflict derives from the conviction that you're 100% right and paranoia and damn the lil jab at american conspiracy theorist 'news' and just the whole spiral (or 'peak') that Kate goes through instantly.

VERY HAPPY that RTD made Kate explicitly care for her employees again. Hated that Chibs didnt do that.

i loved loved loved the family dinner (though i do think that people always forget that ten celebrated christmas with Rose and her family). I loved how RTD brought everything thats happened in - just grabbed it all and brought it into the episode he MAKES continuity. unlike the other two his narratives are ALWAYS looking back, even as the Doctor DOESN'T. this inherent contrast gives his writing always such energy. i also really like how he tries to make things make sense, to set up explanations (like for the Master) beforehand or after the fact? we dont know (though sometimes he goes too far in this).

thought the part where DT was upset about humanity blah blah blah hatred violent crreatures blah was a bit uncalled for or went on too long.but it was a good call back alright

ill say the following, i didnt think the pacing was as good that is to say i didnt think all the puzzlepieces fitted entirely perfectly into the flow - command centre went on too long a lil bit. Loved the aside with melanie though. LOVED the dancing toymaker oh my god I LOVED IT. but all the puzzle pieces were really really good.

one thing is though. why the heck didnt the doctor say: i challenge you to a game. from the very beginning??? the moment he showed up in 2023? his preparation of an 'exit' for the Toymaker never became relevant again?

I love ncuti in this??? wow. damn! and dare i say it....he looked super hot. wow lol.

Loved the little callback to the Doctor no longer being a time lord, and so what is he now.....?

The two of you had been living together for quite a while now. And you had been public about your relationship for a long time, had it been up to either of you, nobody still wouldn’t know. But it’s definitely better on both of your nerves not having to tiptoe around each other when you recorded, or he streamed.

You really enjoy books, so that’s what you naturally made the topic of your YouTube channel, book reviews. You had always recorded yourself reading and made it into a time-lapse after, it was when easier now that you didn’t have to worry if Corpse said anything and you looked up to answer him. You weren’t really into gaming so it surprised you a lot when Corpse had sat you down yesterday and asked if you wanted join them in the game today. The other had been bugging him to get you on call for longer than just saying a quick hi and then leaving him again. You weren’t much of a people person, honestly neither of you were. But Corpse was still better at interacting with others. Both of your setups was already in the studio, due to you liking edit your videos when he streamed, so you could still be together. Despite you mostly reading whenever he streamed, because then there wasn’t a chance he accidentally got caught on your camera.

Your routines worked for each other, but this was new territory for you. Both being live and gaming. You were nervous. To put it out there you were straight up shaking of nerves. Sure you wouldn’t be live yourself, and it was just among us, you had seem him play it a million times, but it still scared you what if you said something stupid, or did something stupid. Then you wouldn’t be able to cut it out, everyone would know in an instant.

Corpse greet his stream, as you load up your game, you’re fiddling with the hem of his sweater, makes him feel like he’s closer than the short distance that’s between you, because right now he seemed like an ocean away.

He shows you how to join the call and you accidentally squeak in chock as someone yells into their microphone. You can feel Corpse moving beside you, as he tries his best not to laugh at you.

“Shut up.” You mumble, and lightly shoves his shoulder.

“Me?” A guy with an irish accent asks.

“No! Not you, I’m so sorry that wasn’t to you- Corpse stop laughing at me!” You cut your own sentence off. As he now is completely failing at keeping himself from laughing, inviting everyone and their mom to listen to his beautiful laugh. You sulk for a bit, before he composes himself.

“But you’re just so damn cute.” He pets the top of your head, and walks back to his own setup, where chat is going rocket speed. He tries to read a couple in passing, but he turns his attention back to you when you whine.

“I’m not a child!” you pout at him and sticks out your tongue. A smile right on your lips as he copies you. You just love this man with all of your heart.

“Never said you were.” He teases back, before he starts to greet the people in the call. You realise most of your nerves have disappeared, no longer shaking, you’re getting a bit excited to do this. You listen closely when corpse says the name of each of the people in the call. You only knew the names before joining, but not what voice that belonged to whom.

When you’re finally in the game, Corpse suggests you put on the white skin and a flower. Your reply?

You lean close to the microphone and goes. “No.” And picks the yellow skin with the plant hat, declaring you’re now a citrus fruit.

“Corpse, how in the world did you catch someone like her?” you think her name was Rae asked.

“I didn’t she caught me.” He admits, happily. “Still having trouble believing she chose me.”

Earning an awe from the rest of the call. Two lovebirds.

“Simp!” someone yells in the call, you’re not really sure who, in the sea of mixed noises. Earning a laugh from you.

Crewmate flash across your screen, and you didn’t totally mean to peak, but you saw the red flash from his pc. As the game starts up and your character isn’t moving you realise you don’t know what you’re doing. Corpse realises too when his character starts to circle yours and nothing happens.

“Babe you good there?” He looks over at you, as you’re pressing each key on your keyboard testing out what happens. He chuckles at the sight. “let me help you.” He gets up, and leans over you, as he shows you how to move. His own character standing still, as he helps you around the map and shows you how to do the tasks. You happily let him guide your hands, enjoying the warmth he radiates as he stands near you.

That’s when a warning flash over the screen. Emergency meeting. You think it said. A screen with a portrait of all of your characters comes up.

“Corpse you good there, you haven’t moved all game?” Felix asks.

“Oh, sorry, I was helping Y/N with how to play.” Corpse answers over your mic.

“Hey guys, how do I make my name red like Corpses?” you innocently ask, with a gleam in your eyes as you look up at Corpse knowing damn well why his name is red. He’s the bad guy.

Corpse furrows his eyebrows at you. Glaring at you, as the rest of the call is laughing, it doesn’t take long before his astronaut is floating across the screen ejected into outer space. He leans close to you, making sure to mute your microphone first.

“You sure you want to play like this kitten?” He whispers to you, you respond by smacking his shoulder, and once again telling him to shut up.

Corpse helps you through the rest of the game. He makes sure you’re good before walking back to his own chair and greets his chat, finally paying attention back to them. Another game starts and the two of you  are imposters together. Corpse quickly goes over the rules of impostors, and it doesn’t take long before you have made your first kill, not noticing Sean was in Nav together with Rae.  But before he’s able to report it,Corpse comes to your rescue by venting into the room and killing Sean. The relief is short lived as  Felix comes running into Nav and see the two of you standing over Seans body, quickly reporting.

“Y/N you’re doing good, but you need to press the report button when it comes visible.” Felix starts out. “Also, it’s Corpse, there was a body in Nav, Sean. Wait Rae and Mark is dead too.” You smile to yourself as you realise he didn’t discover Raes body in there too, you feel a bit of pride.

Corpse looks over to you grinning at him. “We walked in together I was showing her where the report button is and how to use it.” Corpse defends himself. “She never found a body in the last game.”

“That’s true.” You choose to ignore he fact you’re lying to these strangers, and tell yourself that you’re technically speaking the truth. You never found a body in the last game.

“I’m sus of you Corpse, but we have no other evidence.” Felix says,

“And we shouldn’t vote on 7.” Toast comments. Everyone votes skip, and the two of you live to see another round.

The next kill is by Corpse, and you immediately report it, stating you found it in… what was that room now called?

“We found it in… that room?” You try and look over at Corpse for help.

“Electrical, headed there for wires.” Corpse quickly takes over to cover for you. Knowing full well the rest very much knows it’s the two of you.

“I think it’s a self-report, Y/N you’re trying out some big brain strats, but I saw you vent from med bay.” Toast tells the rest. You curse underneath your breath; you are starting to catch on the rest are trying to be nice. But you get it, you’re ruining the game for them, especially Corpse. A few seconds passes as everyone votes and your astronaut is sent into the vacuum of space. You sigh.  You watch as Corpse, gets one kill before it gets reported.

“What was everyone’s last task?” Grease asks the group. He gets an array of answers, but all to him seems nowhere near the body.

“I’m still sus of you Corpse.” Felix says, “You either failed card swipe twice, or forgot you already faked it.”

“How could it have been me? I was with you the entire time.” Corpse responds.

“That’s not true, when lights went out I couldn’t find you, and we just split up before I found the body now.” Felix tells the other incriminating Corpse. It doesn’t take long before he gets voted off. He looks a bit annoyed at the outcome. Knowing it was a risky kill. But instead in your mind you take it as he’s annoyed you were his partner. You reach out for his hand, and he takes it, you stroke it a few times and he seems to calm down again.

“It’s been fun you guys, but I’m not really good at this, I think I’m going to get back to do some reading. It was fun though.” You announce to the rest, Corpse watching in confusion over the sudden need to leave. The others bid their goodbyes. You get off the discord call. And closes up the game and shuts off your pc.

“Hey chat, I’ll be right back, I’m taking a quick break before we continue.” Corpse mutes his setup and walks over to you. While doing that you’ve frustratedly put your head in your hands, and is onboard the blame train for ruining the game for the others. Corpse wraps his arms around you and brings you right back to reality and where you belong, in his embrace.

“Babe, are you okay? Do you need me to stop the stream?” He carefully asks.

“I’m sorry I ruined your game. I really tried my best, I promise.” You sigh, looking at him, and leaning into his hug and the warmth.

“You didn’t ruin anything, Y/N. You made it better, I had a fun time with you, even if we weren’t the best pair.” Corpse starts peppering you in kisses alround your face until you start giggling.

“There is my beautiful Y/N.” He smiles at you, he knows he’s so whipped, and he wouldn’t give it up for anything in the world when he sees that smile of yours.

“Thank you.” You mumble as you put your neck into his neck, cuddling up against him. “Can I stay for the rest of your stream?” He doesn’t need to answer, he just sits back down in his own chair, and you automatically and easily, swing a leg over him. You cuddle into his chest and listens as he starts talking to his chat again.

“Y/N says thanks for everything, but this is really out of her comfort zone, and I’m proud of her for having done it.” He praises you to the rest of the world. He looks down at you smiling. He mute his mic as he whisper to you. “You’re still my favourite impostor, kitten.” You giggle, and he turns his attention back to the game. Getting ready to be a crewmate.

🌪- What is the biggest change you've ever made to them? How have they changed from their original version?

Clearly shes changed...a lot. However, most of the change is probably to her hair! I was afraid she'd look to much like Frisk, so I gave her slightly longer hair so she could put it in a ponytail!

💗- If they have a crush, is it noticeable? What changes when theyre in love?

Dfstsfc,,,yes, she has a crush on Justin. I wouldn't say its super noticeable (deffinately not as noticeable as Matthew having a crush on Pate) but, I'd say what changes is that she spends a lot more time with Justin. She really wants to get to know him, and she wants him to come out of his shell!

💙- Do they miss their s/o (significant other) easily? How do they act when their s/o isnt around?

I'm not sure, I feel like she would worry, especially if Justin went off to do something risky. But, other than that, I can't say much else would effect her.

💔- What could their partner do that would absolutely break their heart?

Amy probably would be heart broken if Justin gave into what Chara says about him or I also think if Justin would say something like he was fine with killing monsters it wouldnt go over well with her. She knows that hes a better person that but him not realizing that would make her upset.

🔫- Do they trust people easily? How easily will they turn their back on someone? Have they been backstabbed before? Will they betray someone give an ultimatum?

It doesnt take her long to trust people, as long as she sees that they are a decent person, she will trust them. But, if that person were to ever do something that she views as wrong, she would deffinately not hang out with them any more. That being said, I don't think shes been backstabbed before, but shes heard a lot of situations where that has happened, and she doesn't like the idea of it. So, I don't think she would ever betray someone. She is the trait of Integrity, after all.

🎵- What is their playlist like? Their favorite artists? Do you associate a particular song with them?

Amy would probably have a lot of upbeat songs, or songs you could dance to if she had a playlist. Again, I like to associate her with the songs Levitating by Dua Lipa and Lose it by Oh Wonder. Both of those are really good upbeat songs that are meant to be danced to!

🔪- How do they react to injury/misfortune befalling their loved ones (significant other, family, friends, etc). Do they put themselves to blame?

Amy would deffinately be upset, but she would do everything in her power to help. The first thing she would want to do is blame herself, but she would try to calm herself and look at the situation a different way.

im getting a little too in my family feels today and so INSTEAD of feeling those im just going to ramble for a second about why i fucking love paladin!aelwyn because. im. just like this i guess im coping leave me alone

cw for discussions of child abuse, maladaptive coping, drugs and alcohol, self harm, destructive tendencies, basically everything we see in canon and the implications

aelwyn is ... SO interesting to me because for as much of her interiority as we see, as much of her as we think we understand, as much as i could ramble about her character for hours, we know ALMOST NOTHING about her in actuality?? (besides ... one key thing)

(this is like 2k and probably incoherent someone please stop me)

okay. listen. almost everything we see aelwyn do in s1 is maladaptive rebellion against her parents and home life. the drinking, the drugs, the partying, perhaps some of kalvaxus (though i dont think we fully understand how much of that was forced on her as well, kalina WAS watching her when she was talking to adaine about it). you can say like, oh aelwyn is a party animal, she's impulsive, she makes risky decisions, she's bitchy and rude, and its like. okay but IS SHE ACTUALLY. because under her parents thumb she had an EXTREMELY limited amount of freedom, and usually when people are suffering from very little control over their life, they WILL act destructively over the tiny bit they can, either harming themselves or their environment or people lower than them in the pecking order, because in a way, that feels like a reclamation of autonomy. saying "you have so much power over me but can you stop me from hurting myself and destroying what you havent managed to claim yet?". its just like, kind of what human brains do and frequently has little to do with a persons actual personality or impulses, its just. desperate brains trying to control SOMETHING because autonomy is a fundamental human need and when thats taken away we get. very bad off. (this is one big reason eating disorders are SO common with abused kids.) so i think a lot of the s1 aelwyn we see is like. this is a very desperate, abused teenager "acting out" in the only way it is possibly somewhat safe for her to do so because, on a psychological level, the self destruction is weirdly the only emotional tether and its either this or just dissociate all the time (something we do see she has problems with in canon)

and yes, she did treat adaine horribly in s1. she fully did. obviously what we get in canon is what happens but a moment thats interesting to me is in episode 1 where adaine has attacked aelwyn several times, who either does nothing or just bounces it back, when she says "i never cast spells at you" and siobhan immediately retcons it and says "yes you do, all the time" (i havent gone back and watched this bit so i might be wording this wrong). obviously its an improv show and the canon is built between performers as they go, but that was interesting to me. that brennan hadnt intended for her to have fought back in that way. she definitely feeds into the emotional abuse from their parents and participates in all the toxicity there, but we know in canon that she did that because of overwhelming fear and self preservation. and that her self hatred because of it just fed back into the cycle and made her feel like she wasnt good enough to even try to break free from it. this is very common in golden child/scapegoat sibling relationships where the golden child SEES what the parents are capable of and becomes a participant in the abuse out of fear for their own standing. in any way siding with the scapegoat child not only directs abuse at themselves as well, but frequently makes things WORSE for the scapegoat because the parents will take out the challenge to their power on them even more. so, if aelwyn DID ever try to defend or help adaine when they were small, she would have VERY QUICKLY learned that made things worse for everyone. and just. sectioned that part of her brain off, as she's done with so many other things. (and i dont think im reading too much into the forest scene with the abernants to say their parents were VERY QUICK to turn abuse towards aelwyn if she stepped out of line even a little. like, you dont flinch when a hand moves unless. you know. dont need to say it just something to think about. as far as we saw in canon, she had done everything they asked of her leading up to the forest, and we DONT KNOW what happened in it but we do know brennan specifically called out how in broken spirits she was when adaine was summoned, even though they did the ritual to avoid all of the nightmare bullshit)

(the house party is literally a whole separate post but i think its fair to point out that 1) she was super under the influence when that was happening which DEFINITELY is in no way an excuse for her behavior but worth remembering when trying to analyze that 2) her losing that fight did canonically have DRASTIC consequences for her and even if she didnt know exactly how that was going to turn out, i think she knew how bad it might be. and she did not know adaine or any of the bad kids were going to be there in the first place)

all that said, it feels in some ways counterproductive to say that aelwyn is an extremely devoted and protective person (yes we're getting to the paladin shit i know i've been rambling a while) but i think that thats strangely ALL WE ACTUALLY KNOW ABOUT HER. because we've established that her self-destructive and abusive behavior in s1 is almost entirely psychologically scripted for her by her parents, we dont know how much of her villain shit in s1 was LITERALLY UNDER THREAT OF DEATH because we know at least killing the oracle was and we dont know how much of the rest of it was mandated by either her parents or kalina other than that she probably was under orders not to tell adaine the truth, and we know participating in all of this caused extreme self loathing in her that she refused to show to anybody and was too terrified to act on in any way

so, like. what does that actually leave us?

here's what we do know about aelwyn:

- of all the schools of magic, she went into abjuration

- the entire bbeg plan from season 1 hinged on aelwyn's complete faith that her level 1 sister was the most prodigious diviner in the world

- right after (?) the house party, she locked her memories where only adaine could find it with a note basically saying "theres so much bad blood between us but i know only you could find this"

- she desperately wanted to protect adaine and the fact that she was too afraid to do so made her hate herself (and her knowing that adaine now knows this is the turning point in their relationship)

- despite everything, even in the nmk forest, she still loved her parents

- the SECOND she is shown genuine love and affection and care from adaine, and adaine says whatever you do, i am here with you, all her actions from there forward are just about protecting adaine from their father, very nearly at the cost of her own life

- with what she probably thought were her last words (and would have been if adaine hadnt given her the tincture), all she wanted to communicate was how to help adaine and the bad kids, and how despite everything she had always believed in her

- at five levels of exhaustion, unconscious, she used her first spell slot after nine months of torture to build a shield around adaine

NOW we get to paladin!aelwyn. because, once everything is stripped away, the abuse and the control and the maladaption and the threats and the torture, EVERYTHING we ACTUALLY can glean about aelwyn's personality and inner core is that she's protective and devoted. and of course classes arent locked by personality, but that just screams paladin to me. its her WHOLE THING. adaine even says "wizards dont have heals, we dont care about other people" and of COURSE that isnt true for either of them, but? mechanically? aelwyn chose the wizard school that DID let her protect, and DID let her help, but i dont think, at this point, going forward, thats really going to be enough for her (and we could also talk about the parallels between them, how often adaine uses her portents to help other people)

however, for langa , its becoming more about competition and being the best. sure, he loves it and thinks its fun and holds some of the same values as reki, but as he starts to learn things on his own he wants to go beyond just doing it for fun and bc its something he likes,, but bc its something he knows hes hella good at that he could possibly become the best at. that is his goal rather than just enjoyment. 

and i think part of why reki said that he and langa arent a good match anymore isnt bc he was just being dramatic and emotional but bc he sees that they both want completely different things from skateboarding now. he knows that he himself is not the kind of person to be that competitive and risky and go up against scary people like adam who clearly take things way too far and do dangerous stunts just to show off and prove theyre superior. but now reki is starting to see that those kind of things are what excites langa and thats the kind of thing that langa wants. and thats just... a major problem for their friendship since a lot of it was built on skating and specifically rekis enjoyment of it,, like that was a huge part of their dynamic.. but now that langa wants something different... that dynamic is gonna change.

and like in any relationship, when you realize that you and your partner want completely different things.... you have to let go. AND NOW IM SCARED THAT THEY WONT MAKE UP BC LIKE.. An Idiot’s Guide to Among Us

so among us is still pretty popular, the fanbase is growing, and people are getting better at the game the more they play it. But you can always add to your book of tips and tricks on how to play this funky little game. Over probably a couple hundred games and many hours of play time I’ve learned some stuff that could be helpful in getting some wins and kills under your belt or just getting better at the game in general. This is my first game guide so be gentle!

This’ll be updated as i get more information and tricks on how to play 

Feel free to throw other tips and tricks or suggestions on how to improve/add to this guide in my ask box!!!

Lobby and Beginning Game Rules

If you’re new to the game, try out freeplay on different maps to get the hang of the tasks and stuff

Be nice in the lobby! if you demand game rules to be changed you’re putting a target on your on back and you’ll either be kicked/banned or killed off first in the game Host your own game if you want specific rules!

Don't say ‘start’ It isn't your game and its pretty annoying. this can get you kicked from lobbies. The host could be waiting for someone, or afk for a sec.

Refrain from ‘blank’ names. this’ll get you singled out as a hacker more often than not. 

Don't leave the game if you don't get imposter!!!! Its super annoying and makes the game unfair and way less fun for other people 

DONT HACK!!! there's literally no point in hacking Among Us. theres no gain or rewards for winning. you’re being an asshole and killing the mood for other people who just wanna enjoy a round. 

DONT SUS RANDOM PEOPLE!!! this is also annoying and you being an asshole 

Don’t push the emergency button for no reason. there’s a 99% chance you’ll be voted off. 

Someone standing still isnt sus! People have to check their maps!

If you’re on voice call, dont rat the imposter out, thats cheating. 

Talk in the chat, especially after a body is found. Sometimes people get voted because they don’t say anything, especially towards the end.*

Being A Crewmate

Its a bad idea to go off on your own! especially in designated ‘high-kill’ areas!

Watch people do their visuals! and then hang out with them to stay safe!!!

Just because someone's following you doesn't mean they're sus! they could be trying to stay safe from the imposter

Always group your tasks and map out your path! your tasks are download data in Navigation, Fix Shields, Wires in storage, Card swipe in admin go to Nav first and then loop around, hitting your other tasks before going to admin to finish! given you probably have 2 more wires to do but its just an example! (skeld map example)

Save! Those! Visuals!! Never do those first and NEVER do them without someone around! they’re super helpful if someone tries to pin you as Suspicious!

Don't use the ol’ reliable phrase ‘if not them vote me’ unless you’re ABSOLUTELY sure that they're the imposter, because they’ll be voting you off next.

Keep an eye on people doing non-visuals too! if they walk away from the task point and the green bar at the top doesn't go up, they could be sus!

always make sure to check cams and admin! this could help you a lot 

always have someone with you when doing downloads since most of them are near or over vents!

Keep track of where you’ve been and where you’re going to in case people question you!

absolutely do NOT vote for the first person people spout out without evidence. Its super annoying and makes the game less fun 

Technically, you don’t have to fix the lights when they go out. But it can look sus if you’re not there. *

Your crewmates and friends from last round may not be your crewmates or friend this round. be careful. they may be an imposter.

try not to be the one who reports multiple bodies in a row. 

Being an Imposter

Never kill with lots of people around! this will get you voted off. 

Be strategic. Don't be the first to sus people directly, and don't be caught venting or near the bodies!

Use vents sparingly and strategically. Vent in but don't vent out is usually what works if you kill near a vent, hop in the vent and don't come out until you know its clear or someone finds the body. You have less of a chance of getting caught.

If your imposter partner is Sus’d, just vote them too. If you don't you’ll out yourself. 

sabotage areas where there are less people, the counter might hit zero if no one gets there in time. 

stack kills are risky. you still have the dash animation that could out you

don't sus someone who had people watch them do visuals

During voting go with the crowd. Vote for someone the others are voting for, you’ll put less Sus on yourself 

self reporting is risky. use this tactic sparingly. 

stick with your imposter partner most of the time so you can say you were with someone

defend until you cant and then go with the crowd. you can defend your partner until someone saw something or can speak against your lies

Jon: No matter if he’s actually an imposter, he always makes himself look sus. He tends to be long winded and descriptive with recounting his turn, which ends up only sapping lobby time. He’s aggressively sus of everyone else and always ventures off on his own, refusing to spend more than a moment next to anyone else as he works on his tasks. As such, he never has any alibis.

Jon keeps detailed accounts of what everyone did that round, and whenever he gets a target he will Not stop until they get voted out (or, more likely, he gets himself voted out). The Biggest third imposter, once he thinks someone is guilty there is no changing his mind. Usually, he’s either completely wrong or completely right (but for all of the wrong reasons).

When he's an imposter, he’s a horrible liar and noticeably less aggressive in his accusations. Always transparent when he self reports, and always kills the people that try to call him out. Has never won a game as an imposter and it shows.

Martin:

Better than you think he would be? He’s pretty new to the game so he’s not good at solid alibis and tends to mix up his story a lot as a crewmate. However, he keeps this up as an imposter- stuttering over locations just the same as he would if he were innocent.

This man is the master at faking tasks and the only person to get sus of him is Jon (though, Jon’s always sus of him). Martin also hangs out with crewmates a lot, and very quickly gains the trust of others. He would be a great imposter, but he’s incredibly cautious when it comes to killing. Usually, the other imposter does the murder and he does the damage control. If the other one dies then there’s little chance he’ll get everyone on his own.

Super slow at tasks, but always looking for ways to clear teammates. His biggest problem is that he’s super stingy about calling people out. There have been times where the imposter claimed he was their alibi when he never saw them once, and he doesn’t speak up because he just doesn’t have the confidence in what he saw.

When Martin does accuse someone or go along with the vote, it’s usually game over for them. He rarely ever votes impulsively and almost always skips, so when he does offer his vote it's a Big Deal.

Sasha:

Tries experimental and risky techniques as an imposter, such as the legendary AFK strategy, where she’ll pretend to be away from the game and then kill someone and return to her spot around the table until someone finds the body. high risk high reward plays.

Of course, she’s a nightmare for other imposters since she’s also quick to frame them and get them kicked off to get herself the credit. She’s either big brained or her risky plays get caught immediately, no in between.

She’s a very efficient crewmate, getting tasks done first and then sitting on security or checking vitals for the rest of the game. Sasha is the first person to follow Jon’s lead in accusations, and if she doesn’t back him up then the team usually goes after Jon.

Sasha also gets absorbed in her tasks and usually lets other people handle lights, reactor, and oxygen. Bystander effect victim. Usually travels with Tim or Martin, so if she dies they’re the first to be questioned about it. Pretty fun to play with if you don’t get frustrated with her imposter shenanigans.

Tim:

Literally the ideal crewmate. He can sniff a lie out a mile away and usually ends up the first one dead because of this. Whether or not he does tasks is up in the air, but when he wants to he can be insanely fast at tasks. You have never seen a man do Simon Says faster. Hangs around medbay for a while so he can clear Everybody that went in and proceeds to hang out with them. Doesn’t talk much during lobby but dont let your guard down he Will come after you if he knows you did it. Never loses when an imposter tries to frame him, Tim’s just too earnest in his seething.

Not a very good imposter, he’s decent at lying but giggles too much and has a lot of obvious tells. Sometimes he’ll just straight up admit he’s imposter bc he knows he isnt good enough to lie himself out of a corner. Tim also rambles a lot as imposter.

Is either incredibly lighthearted or takes the game way too personally and every round is a coin toss as to whether he'll be actually literally upset at you if you’re an imposter. He gets over it fast, and the most heated games are usually the most entertaining to look back on.

Future Jon (Nathan):

Nathan is pretty laid back at the game- they might Know the killer if they think too hard about it, so they mostly just chill and hang out around ppl. This lax attitude usually throws ppl off when playing with them for the first time.

They’re a bit chaotic when playing- occasionally making themselves look guilty for literally no reason. Nathan’s a real wild card they can either be super efficient or super dumb it depends on who they’re playing with. Sasha and Nathan are the ultimate chaotic imposter duo, and several times Nathan’s voted randomly and gotten themself kicked off when they were crewmate.

If someone didn’t do their tasks it’s probably Nathan or Tim. Nathan themself cares less about winning and more about the experience. No dull rounds with this bitch. Presses the emergency button for fun.

If Nathan and Gunner are on opposing sides they still have this solidarity like if Nathan’s the imposter and Gunner spots him, he will literally walk away without reporting it. And they never kill each other, either- just continual support. It’s kinda weird to watch.

Future Martin (Gunner):

The most terrifying imposter you’ll ever meet. He’ll kill your friend in front of you and convince you it was a suicide. Literally could say he’s the imposter at the beginning of the round and get away with it for the whole time. One time he managed to successfully win over the last member of the lobby and tied the vote three ways just so he could get one last kill.

Not joking you will feel true, unbridled Fear if he is the imposter. He will lock you in electrical and watch you squirm. Gunner’s at his most terrifying when he’s impostors with Nathan. It’s like those two have a symbiotic relationship (and since Nathan can read minds, the plans the two of them can make are Unparalleled).

Where Nathan slips up, Gunner can easily get the target off of their back. They also switch up play styles every now and then- sometimes they’ll end it quick, a double kill each round, other times they manage to successfully stack bodies in some obscure room in the corner of the map.

If Nathan dies, Gunner will be absolutely brutal in killing everyone else. Letting the O2 get people, or letting the game run until they’re so close to completing tasks before the final kill.

As a crewmate, Gunner is always spot on with accusations and if you’re an imposter your first goal should be to gain Gunner’s trust.
