The evolution of you.

Over time the person you are grows, learns and adapts as a result of the experiences you have and the people that you come across. Stopping to realize that this happens and every so often you should stop and take stock in what you're doing and the reasons why.

This shaping process is one that occurs indefinitely throughout your life and as we get older I think it's just less and less of a change but still the concept is the same. I'm not a overly religious person but I think most are fimiluiar with this little diddy...

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, darkly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. 1 COR 13

I think we never really (nor should we) put away all childish things because that's still a part of us and in many ways brings us and others joy but the over arccing theme is there. You grow and in that your mind grows and the things you do mature. If you're reading this I hope you take a little time. Self check what and why you're doing what your doing and use that as motivation to adapt and overcome. That's been a big focus for me the last several days. Adapt and grow or you'll always stay the same. As for me, it's time to do just that.

Alright so here goes lol,

This is day one of a blog I hope to start and grow over time as I also grow in the Heath and fitness community. So to begin why not start with my origin story. My name is...well honestly is irrelevant this second but later I'll share that and soon I'll even share the meaning of my name on here (serious-time).

Back to the good stuff... I started my journey roughly 4 years ago and it was kicked off with a life changing event. I'd rather not go into that just yet either so.... we will skip right past that. At the start of my fitness journey id say I didn't even have a clue that I was on a fitness journey at all. I was overweight (296 lbs), I wore a size 48 pants and my life was in shambles. I knew that I didn't want to live like I was and so I started real simply with walking, yep just walking. I cut out redbull (regular ones) and soda but diet wise I hadn't got on that train just yet. Fast forward 4 years (I'll fill in the gaps as the posts go on) and I dropped to 169 lbs, I was wearing a size 34 pants and then began to take fitness and my diet more seriously. Today I weigh 196 lbs, I wear a size 28 pants and I finished 1 online shredding compition and entered another which just began. Follow me and my journey and along the way I'm going to share my thoughts, experiences, failures and successes. I'm Islandguy and this.... is my blog.
