Phenex's Bottle of Inspiration
There was a time where I struggled a lot with being creative. As I worked with Phenex at the time I decided to ask him for help and make this bottle spell to help me out in times of need.
You'll need for the altar:
Orange candle (engraved with a symbol that stands for passion; I used wands)
Pink candle (love)
Thyme (courage)
Rosemary (to release what you need to release; for me it was crippling perfectionism)
Carnelian (creativity)
Anything that represents fire (I used a salamander statue)
You'll need for the spell:
A bottle
Himalayan salt water (cleanse the art block)
Dragon's blood (to give it an extra kick)
Sugar (to sweeten the mood)
Orange peel (the sun & willpower)
Lavender (rejuvenation & love)
Selenite powder* (the moon, clarity & peace)
Carnelian chips x3 (inspiration boost from Phenex; else creativity)
Star anise x3 (the stars, dreams; like wishing upon a star)
Snow water or water charged on a friday (purity & beauty)
Bay leaf x3 (to write your wishes on)
You could enhance this by doing the ritual during the hour of Jupiter or Venus. It depends if you're going for making a lot of things or just going for beauty. Same for the days. I did this on a whim with a fit of divine inspiration so I didn't check what hour it was nor do I remember the day I did this. I don't always go for the perfect hour of the perfect day and you shouldn't have to either!
*note on the powder: I had a selenite that broke, but I kept the scraps
The Spell
The first thing I did was light the pink candle & carve the orange candle with a symbol that stands for the tarot suit of wands. I put the salamander and the carnelian around it and first grabbed the rosemary to sprinkle it counter clockwise three times. This is to release myself of bad experiences around creating art including the perfectionism I struggle with. Then I grabbed the thyme and sprinkled it clockwise three times to invoke courage to make art and go against what my perfectionism is telling me. I stood still for a moment and when I was ready I rang my little bell to signify the start of the ritual and lit the orange candle.
In my mortar & pestle I ground up dragon's blood, orange peel, lavender, selenite powder & star anise. I wrote my one word wishes on the three bay leaves, burned them & added them to my ingredients. This can be 'inspiration', 'passion', 'success', etc. Whatever you need in this particular spell. While the leaves were cooling down I put salt & water in the empty bottle and swung it in circles counterclockwise until the salt dissolved. I added all ingredients from the mortar & pestle, the snow water & the carnelian chips. However, it didn't feel quite right to me back then so I added sugar last minute.
While sealing the closed bottle with orange wax, after I poured the pink first, I said:
Creativity return to me. So it shall be!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whenever I feel stifled in my creative endeavours I give the bottle a good shake. It used to stand on my altar for Phenex, but as I moved in with my boyfriend and as I am kinda out of the loop I put it close to where I'm often creative so I can always quickly grab it if needed.
I also want to add the spell doesn't magically take your perfectionism away. I still fight against it because it's so ingrained into me. The bottle gives me the push that regardless of what my perfectionism tells me I can still create/write the things that I want.
I hope you can too!

Aggressive Protections
Part of a series - go to the masterpost to see them all
An aggressive protection will strike back at beings and entities who trigger it. It may cause actual harm. It is often used as a warning system. Historical examples include witch bottles, which were filled with pins, nails, broken glass, and other nasty things to tear at the spirit or witch who tried to cause harm – these bottles were not mere warnings, they were actually believed to kill witches and destroy spirits.
Aggressive protections can blur the line between defense and hexing or malefica. Many non-warding spells can be considered a form of aggressive protection, such as working over a poppet so its target experiences pain until they leave you alone.
Aggressive protection benefits:
They can help drive away an insistent or clueless being (human or otherwise) who isn’t getting the hint.
They can provide a clear warning that you’re not to be f*cked with.
Beings which may be happy to prowl around a brick wall might change their mind if it becomes an electric fence.
When carefully employed, they can quickly evacuate an unwanted presence.
Aggressive protection drawbacks:
People can respond in unexpected ways. When some people feel themselves being pushed or slapped back, they may redouble their efforts or behave even more aggressively.
Aggressive protections can make you, and the people around you, feel like you’re being aggressive, bossy, or mean – even when you’re not.
If you don’t understand who or what is causing you harm, and you poorly construct your ward or make it too broad, you could hurt people you never wanted to hurt. Imagine someone keeps coming into your room and you can’t figure out who it is, so you made a harmful fiery ward, but actually it was your cat who learned to jump up and open the knob, and the ward triggers and harms them. That would suck.
Loosely defined aggressive protections laid all over your property or home can limit the movement of spirits who already live there, or stop the entry of benevolent and desired spirits. This doesn’t bode well for them, and therefore probably not for you, either.
Where and when to employ aggressive protections:
On the outermost layers of your defensive walls, usually on the edge of the property or household.
Generally outside of the boundaries of your home.
When irritating or exacerbating the actions of others is an acceptable risk.
When harming or injuring others is an acceptable risk.
Aggressive protections should usually be triggered by an event, such as an “unwanted” or “uninvited” intrusion.
How to employ aggressive protections:
Construct, bind, or befriend a spirit to patrol an area and strike back at aggressors.
Ask the land itself to aggressively defend against intruders.
Build a witch bottle or jar filled with nasty ingredients to tear at malefica and unwanted spirits.
Infuse a container spell with fiery, Martian, or harmful energies. They will naturally radiate their power into the spell even if you do not program them to be triggered.
Apply aggressive sigils or energies to a personal energy shield (ideally, a fair bit away from your aura, unless you also want to be empowered towards anger).
Bind intense bolts or blasts of energy into stones, jars, or other containers, which will strike out at those who violate a certain trigger.
Aggressive protection correspondences:
Elemental and physical fire, and its esoteric symbols. The direction of fire in your path, most commonly east. Red stones, such as red jasper, carnelian, and garnet. Minerals with iron content, such as hematite (lodestone’s magnetized properties make it typically used in drawing and attractive spells; be careful that it does not draw unwanted attention to your wards). Stones from your property painted red. Plants of a strongly scented or burning nature, such as asafetida, all spicy peppers, garlic, nettle, and basil. Forged metals, especially iron and steel (lead is Saturnine, silver is Lunar), which often come in the form of nails, spikes, pins, fishing hooks, and needles, all of which can be found between hardware stores and general stores. Rust. Territorial and aggressive animals which defend themselves in a violent or offensive manner, such as skunks, bulls, stags, moose, badgers, hummingbirds, hippos, and all great cats. Animals and insects which are venomous or poisonous, or cause great irritation, such as fire ants, wasps, hornets, poisonous frogs; venomous snakes, spiders, and scorpions. Chemicals which erode or cause harm, such as bleach or rodent poisons. Figurines, amulets, names, or sigils representing gods and spirits whom are A) violent protectors, B) open to being approached by a person such as yourself, and C) are known to help if asked (or paid), including Aries, Mars, Archangel Michael, Medusa, fire elementals, gargoyles, and certain deceased soldiers or warriors.

Moon Magic: Menstrual Cycle Lunar Correspondences
Menstrual Cycle to Moon Phases and Energy
Follicular Phase - Waxing Moon 🌒🌓🌔
Ovulation - Full Moon 🌕
Luteal Phase - Waning Moon 🌘🌗🌖
Menstruation - New Moon 🌑
Menstrual Zodiac Sign Correspondences:
The current moon’s zodiac sign and an individual’s moon sign determine which predominant element a singular, specific menstrual cycle carries. A person’s moon sign can also influence what kinds of magic they have the potential to excel at, or the magical talents someone already has. Using your menstrual blood in magic with the moon’s current zodiac sign and your moon sign in consideration can amplify spells. This could give you quicker, better results in witchcraft if menstrual magic is your thing. Here is a quick list of correspondences to work with. I’ll be updating this list as I learn about new correspondences through personal gnosis and research.
Aries - Fire - Mars - New beginnings, creativity, passion, protection, offensive magic, attraction
Taurus - Earth - Venus - Prosperity, stability, creativity, food, aromatherapy, kitchen magic
Gemini - Air - Mercury - Intellectual matters, inspiration, creativity, new ideas, automatic writing
Cancer - Water - Moon - Home and domestic matters, feelings, intuition, protection, astral projection, defensive magic
Leo - Fire - Sun - Charisma, confidence, attraction, popularity, glamour
Virgo - Earth - Mercury - New beginnings, order, stability, attraction, meditation
Libra - Air - Venus - Justice, relationships, friendship, art, beauty, makeup, love
Scorpio - Water - Mars + Pluto - Intuition, imagination, dreams, baneful magic, shadow work
Sagittarius - Fire - Jupiter - Expansion, dreams, progress, success, art, protection
Capricorn - Earth - Saturn - Prosperity, stability, sigils, success, any DIY crafts, baneful magic
Aquarius - Air - Saturn + Uranus - Progress, transformation, justice, art, learning, research, mentalism
Pisces - Water - Moon - Intuition, imagination, divination, personality reading, creativity, dreams, healing
Magic, the Menstrual Cycle, and My Life
There are people whose period pain and symptoms are so severe, they find it difficult or impossible to do any kind of menstrual magic. Many people refrain from doing menstrual magic because their pain and severe symptoms impede their ability to function. Just because menstrual blood is part of my witch practice doesn’t mean it must be part of anyone else’s spiritual practice. An individual’s feelings and beliefs connected to their menstrual cycle are deeply personal and derived from one’s lived experiences, not objective truths.
When I’m in a lot of pain from PMDD or actual menstruation, I’m only able to focus on self-care, drawing forth healing energy, and feeling better. So, I draw pink healing energy from Satanachia and other demons as well as the earth, moon, planets, stars, deities, etc. That’s all that I can do if I’m capable of doing when I’m having severe symptoms, but it’s still the best I can do. If someone can’t/won’t incorporate the menstrual cycle or menstrual blood into their practice, it’s wrong to shame them for it. Using this magic helps me make the most of my lived experience and cope with my menstruation-related health issues.
I will be blocking all TERFs and gender essentialists from this post. The moon is not objectively “divine feminine,” as divine femininity and everything like it is entirely subjective. Moon gods are just as real as moon goddesses, as well as lunar deities whose gender we don’t know of yet. Be cool, not a creep.

Astaroth's Menstrual Moon Ritual
Astaroth’s Menstrual Moon Ritual uses the powers of lunar energy and menstruation to manifest specific intentions and desires. In this ritual, one gives offerings of menstrual blood and rose petals to Astaroth in exchange for the manifestation of intentions and desires. This ritual has helped me deepen my connection to the Great Duke/Duchess of Hell, and I hope it does the same for anyone interested in performing it on their own!
Perform this moon ritual with Astaroth while menstruating and feeling well enough to actually do the ritual. Some of us experience more severe period pain and discomfort than others, including myself. I speak from experience when I say that doing a ritual is usually/often not doable when one is experiencing severe PMS and menstruation symptoms. I intentionally made this ritual short so I could do it while operating with lower spoons. I’ve found that making rituals accessible according to my needs leads to the most effective ritual performance and better results. Feel free to adapt this ritual according to your specific practice and needs, regardless of whether those needs are physical or spiritual.
This ritual is best performed under a moon in a Venus-related zodiac sign, but feel free to perform it during any moon phase. The best times to perform this ritual are at night, sunset, and sunrise. This ritual has only 8 steps, so it’s flexible enough to do on its own or incorporate into a larger ritual.
Items:
A rose gold, red, or pink chime candle
Dried rose petals
A cauldron or burning bowl
Astaroth’s seal drawn on a piece of paper - Feel free to write your intentions on the back!
Most Importantly: Menstrual Blood!
Carve words or symbols related to your intention(s) into a rose gold, red, or pink candle.
2. Light the candle and say the following invocation and incantation:
Hail Astaroth! Demon of love, lust, beauty, creativity, and friendship! Great Duke of Hell! I’ve lit this candle in your honor. By your infernal powers of the _____ moon in _____, I call upon you with full love and respect: Please bless, charge, and empower this candle so as it burns, my intention(s) of _____ manifest to full fruition for me in my life. So mote it be!
3. Hold up a cauldron or burning bowl with flowers in it and say:
Hail Astaroth! I offer these rose petals to you as a gift and sacrifice from the bottom of my heart. These rose petals represent your star-kissed beauty, power, passion, and prosperity. Please accept these rose petals as an expression of my love and esteem for you. As these rose petals intermingle with the elements, my intention(s) of _____ become my lived, tangible reality. Thank you, Astaroth, now and forevermore. So mote it be!
4. Meditate and/or chant as the candle burns. While doing so, focus on attuning to Astaroth’s energy and receiving her/his messages.
5. Hold up a paper with Astaroth’s seal on one side, with or without your intentions written on the other side. While holding Astaroth’s seal on paper, state your intention to offer menstrual blood to Astaroth:
Hail Astaroth! As a final gift and sacrifice to you, I shall anoint your seal with my menstrual blood and burn it so you receive its smoke in this realm and all others realms beyond it. By your infernal powers of the _____ moon in _____, my intentions of fully manifest for me in my life. Thank you, Astaroth, now and forevermore. So mote it be!
6. Anoint the seal with menstrual blood. Once the paper dries, burn it with the rose petals present in the cauldron. Once it’s done burning, thank Astaroth verbally or in your thoughts.
7. State your intention to scatter the rose petals nearby, outside, and/or somewhere dear to you:
Hail Astaroth! Thank you for accepting the offerings I’ve extended to you with love. I shall scatter these ashes upon the earth so my intentions become my lived, tangible reality. By your infernal powers of the _____ moon in _____, my intentions of _____ fully manifest for me in my life. Thank you, Astaroth, now and forevermore. So mote it be!
8. Scatter the ashes outside while saying a personal prayer to Astaroth. Keep an open awareness of signs, dreams, and visions from Astaroth.

Self-Care: Satanachia's Rose Ritual 🌹
I created Satanachia’s Rose Ritual to attract the best things in life through self-care, which includes self-worship for many of us. This ritual involves calling upon Satanachia, blessing/charging rose body oil, and anointing one’s body with it as an act of self-love, self-empowerment, and self-worship. Anointing the body with rose oil helps the practitioner connect with and embody the beauty of a rose. Feel free to perform Satanachia’s Rose Ritual for self-love, healing, confidence, beauty, and attracting the most compatible people and opportunities possible to yourself. Be sure to choose a gemstone pipe that corresponds with your intention, or burn the herbs another way if you don't want to use a pipe at all. I deliberately left the ending part more open-ended so you can either do this ritual on its own or adapt it into part of a larger ritual.
Items Needed:
Black Candle for Satanachia
Lighter
Rose oil, love oil, or any other (preferably floral) body oil you enjoy
2 pink tealight candles - 1 for Satanachia, 1 for yourself
Rose incense (or another floral incense if that isn’t available)
A gemstone pipe packed with herb
A sweet, floral, or pleasant drink you enjoy
Chalice
*Optional: A cauldron or bowl filled halfway with rose petals
🌹Satanachia's Rose Ritual
1. Light the black candle and say the following invocation to Satanachia:
Hail Satanachia!
Demon of the Moon, love, beauty, creativity, and freedom!
Grand General of Hell!
Infernal patroness of the planets and cosmos!
You are the dark and demonic muse of magic, pleasure, liberation.
By your infernal powers of the _____ moon in _____
and this sacred planetary hour of ______,
please join me in this ritual so I fully connect with you in body, mind, and soul.
Satanachia, I hereby attune to your infernal spirit his moment and onward.
May your power and wisdom shine within me and through me.
Thank you, Satanachia, now and forevermore.
So mote it be!
Then focus on invoking Satanachia and feeling their presence within/around you.
2. Light a pink candle and dedicate it to Satanachia as a fire sacrifice:
Hail Satanachia!
I’ve lit this pink candle in your honor.
Please receive this burnt offering as a sacrifice of fire.
May this fire burn as brightly as your brilliance and passion do in my life, this world, and the universe at large.
Thank you, Satanachia, now and forevermore.
So mote it be!
3. Light the rose incense and dedicate it to Satanachia as an air sacrifice:
Hail Satanachia!
I’ve lit this rose incense in your honor.
Please receive this burnt offering as a sacrifice of air.
May this smoke grace my physical and mental space with your inspiration and enlightenment.
Thank you, Satanachia, now and forevermore.
So mote it be!
4. Hold the gemstone pipe filled with your herb of choice and say:
Hail Satanachia!
I’ve packed this precious herb into this ______ pipe in your honor.
Please receive this burnt offering as a sacrifice of earth.
May the magic of this herb bring me prosperity and healing.
Thank you, Satanachia, now and forevermore.
So mote it be!
5. Pour the drink into the chalice and hold it up as you dedicate it to Satanachia.
Hail Satanachia!
I’ve poured this libation of _____ in your honor.
Please receive this infernal offering as a sacrifice of fire.
May this libation inspirit me with your intuition and love as I drink and digest it.
Thank you, Satanachia, now and forevermore.
So mote it be!
6. Thank Satanachia and state your ritual purpose:
Hail Satanachia!
Thank you for being so present at this ritual and in my life.
I have summoned you here to call upon your infernal powers of love, beauty, and healing:
Please bless and empower me with self-love so I find pleasure and fulfillment in my being.
By your infernal powers of the _____ moon in _____ and this sacred planetary hour of ______,
I honor and love myself as a goddess.
I recognize my power and embrace it to the fullest.
So mote it be!
7. Light the second pink candle and dedicate it to yourself by saying:
I light this pink candle in honor of the love I have for myself.
As this pink candle burns, my self-love increases and I embrace the pleasure myself.
May my beauty and confidence shine like this flame and the infinite embers of Venus.
By your infernal powers of the ______ moon in ______,
please heal, cleanse, and empower me with self-love.
Thank you, Satanachia, now and forevermore.
So mote it be!
8. Hold the rose oil in your hand as you say:
Hail Satanachia!
You possess the infinite love, beauty, and healing powers of all the roses in the world.
Please cleanse, bless, and empower this rose oil with your infernal spirit.
Please cleanse, bless, and empower me as I anoint myself with this rose oil.
By your infernal powers, I embody the beauty of a rose.
I adore and appreciate myself, and attract compatible people who adore and appreciate me.
I flourish and bloom in my own way, at my own pace.
I love myself for who I am in body, mind, heart, and spirit.
As I anoint myself with this rose oil, I fully embody the beauty of a rose.
So mote it be!
Anoint your whole body with the rose oil. Feel Satanachia’s powers of love and beauty healing you through the rose oil. Visualize yourself glowing with Satanachia’s energy as pink light.
9. When you feel charged up with Satanachia’s energy, thank Satanachia:
Thank you, Satanachia, for the love, healing, help, and empowerment you’ve given me. So mote it be!
10. From this point on, you may do other magical or ritual activities. If you want to end the ritual right then and there, just ground and center yourself, then bid Satanachia farewell:
Thank you, Satanachia, for all of the love, healing, help, and empowerment. This ritual is now finished, but its results are complete, high quality, and eternal. So mote it be!
11. Optional: After you’re completely done with the ritual, scatter the rose petals somewhere outdoors nearby or somewhere special to you as an infernal offering to Satanachia.
Again, feel free to combine this ritual with other magical activities or rituals such as Satanachia's Shower Spell, Satanchia's Full Moon Ritual, or Satanachia's Venus Empowerment Ritual.
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you deserve to love yourself and find joy in being your authentic self. You also deserve to have people in your life who wholly appreciate you and support you. I hope this ritual helps you feel good and attract good things into your life. ❤️

On animism
One of my teachers at university told us something today, that I believe to be relevant to animism and therefore also witchcraft:
He explained that in the West we see everything as occurences, whereas in some languages the same happenings are described as actions. Meaning that in the West we tend to imply that there is no agency involved in whatever happens, while some other languages tend to imply that someone activily causes things. His example was that in the West rain is understood as something that just happens, no one causes the rain. Whereas in Mesoamerica it was believed that it rained because some god was crying.
While the idea of a literal crying god causing it to rain on earth might be outdated, I find it really interesting how these two perspectives - events vs. actions - might shape our relationship with the world. If rain is not just an occurence, but someone acting with agency, rain becomes another part of the community we live in. The community then doesn't only consist of humans anymore, but of everything that surrounds us. Suddenly there are all these new players that actively affect your life with their actions. Other-than-human persons that you can interact with and with whom you have to keep a friendly relationship. If the tree in front of your house isn't just an object, but a being with agency, you actually have to be at least respectful and might even want to build a relationship with them, get to know them, learn from them.
I think that's really the core of animism. Descriptions of animism are often reduced to the believe that everything has a soul, but I think believe doesn't even factor into it. You don't need to believe that there is a non-physical aspect to rain, mountains, stones. It's about how we interact with them. I don't even have to ask myself the question if the tree in front of my house has a soul in order to learn about and from them or to interact with them. In my opinion animism is something that is done, not thought or believed. It's a perspective.
Listening to my teacher also reminded me of the following part of Braiding Sweetgrass (great book btw) which explains all this really well:
A bay is a noun only if water is dead. When bay is a noun, it is defined by humans, trapped between its shores and contained by the word. But the verb wiikwegamaa - to be a bay - releases the water from bondage and lets it live. "To be a bay" holds the wonder that, for this moment, the living water has decided to shelter itself between these shores, conversing with cedar roots and a flock of baby mergansers. Because it could do otherwise become a stream or an ocean or a waterfall, and there are verbs for that, too. To be a hill, to be a sandy beach, to be a Saturday, all are possible verbs in a world where everything is alive. Water, land, and even a day, the language a mirror for seeing the animacy of the world, the life that pulses through all things, through pines and nuthatches and mushrooms. This is the lan- guage I hear in the woods; this is the language that lets us speak of what wells up all around us.
[...]
This is the grammar of animacy. [...] In English, we never refer to a member of our family, or indeed to any person, as it. That would be a profound act of disrespect. It robs a person of selfhood and kinship, reducing a person to a mere thing. So it is that in Potawatomi and most other indigenous languages, we use the same words to address the living world as we use for our family. Because they are our family.
To whom does our language extend the grammar of animacy? Naturally, plants and animals are animate, but as I learn, I am discovering that the Potawatomi understanding of what it means to be animate diverges from the list of attributes of living beings we all learned in Biology 101. In Potawatomi 101, rocks are animate, as are mountains and water and fire and places. Beings that are imbued with spirit, our sacred medicines, our songs, drums, and even stories, are all animate. The list of the inanimate seems to be smaller, filled with objects that are made by people.
[...]
The language reminds us, in every sentence, of our kinship with all of the animate world.

What's your favorite "unusual" cleansing method? (i.e., not smoke, bells/chimes, water, sun/moon light, other commonly-recommended actions)
Mine is the "time out" method. I picked it up from playing D&D where it's a common practice to put D20s in dice jail for rolling badly or "misbehaving." I genuinely find it really effective. Sometimes, a thing just needs to be set aside to settle down and go back to neutral.

there are SO many witchcraft books in the barnes and noble's. Including lots of herb and plant books. And I feel that it's in everyone's best interest to inform that "witchy" herbalism is just, like, a wad of Eurocentric plant symbolism, Eurocentric medicinal plant stuff and random bullshit mixed together, and you don't have to buy something marketed as "witchcraft" to learn all the stuff with greater accuracy
Especially if you're not in Europe, it doesn't make sense to learn about plants that either don't grow in your area or have a totally different role in the ecosystem in your area. Plant symbolism and "meaning" generally is connected to a real quality about the plant. It becomes nonsense if you remove it from the specific ecological context
Also, i find it really funny how a lot of "herbalism" stuff on like pinterest is just about mostly common kitchen herbs and spices and doesn't discuss very many actual commonly used medicinal plants throughout history...because those can kill you or give you the worst most traumatizing trip of your life

Happy Full Moon in Leo! 🌕♌️🦁 I did a full moon ritual with Satanachia for healing. 🕯️ Satanachia’s Full Moon Ritual is my (usually) go-to ritual for the full moon. 🤘❤️ It’s the same one that I posted on my blog a while back. I plan on posting other rituals I do in the future.
Hello! It’s been a while. I’ve been practicing, but haven’t had the spoons to post on social media or do longer rituals. This full moon ritual I just did with Satanachia is the first full-fledged ritual I’ve done in a while. I hope you’ve all been well. 💕
