if getting isekaied is a thing why don't people normalize magic and TREAT THIS world as strange?

I mean science and technology is basically this world's magic.

and you can make wonderful things with it or weaponize it against others.

same with magic.

getting isekaied into a fantisy world with op powers wouldn't be easy.

as in: no one gives a shit you're talented in swordsmanship or magic. all they care about is money.

and unlike anime you're a fucking alien to them AND WILL be hunted down and experimented on.

Can we talk about the newest contender for new worst isekai subgenre? At least to me it is.

The "I was transported to a BL novel but one of the male leads is in love with me!?!?!" It feels really icky and homophobic considering most of the time the male love interest in the story is told or explained to be gay because he was "mentally unwell" because of "childhood trauma" and the reason he falls for the main girl is also pretty fucked because its mostly because she bullshits her way into his trauma to stop it somehow making him straight and in love with her. First off no that's not how either of those things work mentally unwell/abusive people are usually indiscriminate with the sex of the abused party and secondly you can't make a gay straight by being around them and essentially being their trauma dumping ground you can't "fix" him by making him straight.

I thought at first this was a nifty concept watching a girl fangirl over her favorite pairing while in the story or it'd be like one of my favorite queer manga shout out to "I want to be the wall" where its not an isekai but the girl is an aroace BL fan who marries a gay guy with an unrequited (possibly requited) who get married because of familial, societal and social pestering but they both want to be close to one another like family and be each other's support whenever they need it but nope in BL isekai we get "OH NO HE'S IN LOVE WITH ME BUT I'M KINDA INTO HIM EVEN THOUGH HE'S GAY UWU"

Hey ! Thinking about that maybe you could write a transmigrator reader ? Like reader knows everything of the plot and is the hope of their happy ending or can save "everyone", or maybe reader knows/understand them (it could be anyone) the most and they don't need to act or hide something around them so (Random) can be trully themselves... Technically reader is weak but too precious... and reader wants to go home but can't... ending up a tragic story for reader...

ngl I hate the isekai trope so much because it has SO MUCH POTENTIAL. But ppl only write 'y/n gets Isekaid into (anime), but their only personality is quoting decade-old vines and misusing AAVE.' I want isekai but with spice.

I had this idea of making an isekai fanfic where the reader gets this McGuffin (given by dead grandma or whatever) that transports the reader to a different dimension- where cursed energy exists. Satoru is the only one who can see the reader (cuz six eyes) and reader becomes his guardian angel. The MC will appear anytime Satoru is in danger (either from another poisoning attempt or assassination attempt) and then will return to her own dimension. Slowly, Satoru develops this obsession with his guardian angel and tries to figure out a way to make his guardian angel stay with him forever. I've debated on writing it a couple of times but I doubt I will lol.

idk i just want interesting isekai. Oh! there was actually this amazing isekai with the AOT universe. Basically, the mc was transported into the aot universe but actually went through the trauma a soldier fighting titans would face. Eventually, she dies and is transported back to her own universe and she assumes everything was a horrible dream (even though she has ptsd from her time in that universe). Just when she starts getting herself back together, characters from the AOT universe start appearing in her own universe and its clear not all of them have forgiven her for something she did (that hasn’t been revealed yet) ughhh it was so good but the AUTHOR DELETED IT.

As someone who loves the suicide squad, as a concept, can someone explain to me what the hell WB is even trying to do?

It's like they really want the suicide squad to be a popular brand, something of their own to stand a chance against Marvel. That makes sense to an extent when Justice League bombed and the only recent movie in the DCEU that got a lot of praise was The Suicide Squad. But then I think about it and realize, that movie is the only piece of suicide squad content that actually understands what the IP is supposed to be about.

Between the 2016 movie, the video game, and the anime that just dropped, I'm left completely baffled. The suicide squad (or Task Force X, whatever) isn't meant to be this elite team of supervillains that take on world-ending threats, or even multidimensional threats. They're a group of criminals used by a corrupt government to perform top secret missions in a completely inhumane fashion. So why are we getting media where they get isekai'd or dimension hop to fight a bunch of Braniacs? It's just...weird.

The 2021 movie actually got this right! Waller sends the team to wipe records of America's involvement in a secret project where they running inhumane experiments regarding aliens. Peacemaker was the only one made aware of this, the team was used and exploited. That is the entire point. They're all expendable and nobody giving them their missions gives a flying fuck about them.

Ya know what else gets this right? My Adventures with Superman, of all things. That show is a full on Superman story that Task Force X just so happens to also be involved in. Somehow it understands the point of the suicide squad more than actual suicide squad media, and we've been getting a LOT of that. In the show, the government is so paranoid by the existence if a being as strong as Superman, that they start using kryptonian technology. They give criminals they have captured superpowers and make them hunt Superman down. Waller views the criminals in prison as expendable and doesn't care what she has to do to them if it means getting a mission done. It doesn't shy away from how disgusting that is.

Yeah uh we also just had a video game where Superman literally dies because King Shark and Captain Boomering shoot him enough times with kryptonite bullets. Remember that?

With the release of Suicide Squad Isekai I'm just left completely baffled as to what WB is thinking when it comes to this IP. I would say the only reason the 2021 movie was good is because of James Gunn, but now even a Superman cartoon can get the concept down perfectly.

And I didn't even mention Harley Quinn's characterization lately which is a whole separate can of worms...

It’s wild looking back on isekai as a genre. Like, we used to get classics like Escaflowne, .hack Sign, Rayearth, Inuyasha.

And then I realized that the shared trait they all have in common is that they were all about girls and/or written by women. The moment men threw their hat in ring we started getting a deluge of shit called things I Was Reborn As A God Who Has A Harem Of Submissive And Breedable Sisters.

I yearn for the days when an isekai could be about a teen girl falling into a fantasy world and going on a life changing journey of self discovery, and maybe get a cute prince boyfriend or something along the way and it would be peak fiction every time.

And the fact that kosair,naviers brother is a violent man that caused him to be outside the borders and how he even goes tok far as to feed rashta abortion drugs is so scummy. Because Navier doesn’t care. Slavery is a huge problem in her empire but she barely bats an eye at that when we’re supposed to believe she’s this ‘fantastic empress.’ Honey- where??? Ngl Id actually be more sympathetic to Navier as a whole as despite her cold exterior it showed that you know she was actually pushing for reform for the lower class citizens! But nah she can’t be bothered to deal with peasants.

But back to your point- Can someone please tell me what the whole point of the Kaufman/Navier plotline was? Because honest to goodness it sounds like pointless drama to extend the story length at this point. Either that or just show how irresistible goddess Navier is.

Someone once reblogged/replied to my last post and said that no one in this series is a morally good person. That’s fair. I agree they’re all pretty terrible people in their own ways. Honestly I’ve said it time and time again. I don’t have a problem that they’re terrible people.

What irks me is when the novel disrespectfully handles heavy topics like slavery and trauma to build up its Mary Sue fl. The whole story markets itself as being some pro feminism revenge story but it’s really not? It doesn’t feel like at least half of the cast gets their proper comeuppance? No seriously- Sovieshu should’ve kicked the bucket. Heinrey and his creepy friend should’ve been held more accountable to a higher degree as well.

Navier isn’t a girl’s girl at all. To both the character and story’s fault Everyone must either worship her or hate her. No one who disagrees with her is allowed any sort of meaningful empathy that Navier in my opinion is sort of undeserving of. (Anyone is free to argue this- but she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and everything magically works out for her. I’m supposed to feel more sorry for her than the girl who was sold by her abusive father into slavery?) hahaha no.

At this point I’d advise people who actually want to see a pro feminism story with political intrigue to read ‘I’ll Saved this damn family!’ Now that’s a story that can treat other women who aren’t the fl well and promotes pretty good relationships between them too.

I'm rewatching Log Horizon for the 5th time, and I realised something. I don't really want to know why they're stuck.

For those uninitiated, Log Horizon is an isekai, where everyone got sent into a MMORPG and nobody knows why or how. One day they were gaming, then a patch dropped, and now they're in the world. I jokingly refer to it as SAO but good.

And I'm not sure I want to know how it happened. I want them to explore the game mechanics, the flavour texts, the magic systems, the whole thing. But not why they got there
