God Calls Cyrus
1 Thus says the LORD to his anointed, to Koresh, whose right hand I have held, to subdue nations before him, and I will loose the loins of kings; to open the doors before him, and the gates shall not be shut:
2 I will go before you, and make the rough places smooth; I will break in pieces the doors of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron;
3 and I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that it is I, the LORD, who call you by your name, even the God of Yisra'el.
4 For Ya`akov my servant's sake, and Yisra'el my chosen, I have called you by your name: I have surnamed you, though you have not known me.
5 I am the LORD, and there is none else; besides me there is no God. I will gird you, though you have not known me;
6 that they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none besides me: I am the LORD, and there is no one else.
7 I form the light, and create darkness; I make shalom, and create evil. I am the LORD, who does all these things.
8 Distil, you heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the eretz open, that it may bring forth yeshu`ah, and let it cause righteousness to spring up together; I, the LORD, have created it.
9 Woe to him who strives with his Maker -- a potsherd among the potsherds of the eretz! Shall the clay ask him who fashions it, "What are you making?" or your work, "He has no hands?"
10 Woe to him who says to a father, "What have you become the father of?" or to a woman, "With what do you travail?"
11 Thus says the LORD, the Holy One of Yisra'el, and his Maker: Ask me of the things that are to come; concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands, command you me.
12 I have made the eretz, and created man on it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens; and all their host have I commanded.
13 I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will make straight all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let my exiles go free, not for price nor reward, says the LORD of Hosts.
14 Thus says the LORD: "The labor of Mitzrayim, and the merchandise of Kush, and the Seva'im, men of stature, shall come over to you, and they shall be yours. They shall go after you. In chains they shall come over; and they shall fall down to you. They shall make supplication to you: 'Surely God is in you; and there is none else, there is no other god.
15 Most assuredly you are a God who hid yourself, God of Yisra'el, the Savior.'
16 They shall be put to shame, yes, confounded, all of them; they shall go into confusion together who are makers of idols.
17 [But] Yisra'el shall be saved by the LORD with an everlasting salvation: you shall not be put to shame nor confounded world without end.
18 For thus says the LORD who created the heavens, the God who formed the eretz and made it, who established it and didn't create it a waste, who formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is no one else.
19 I have not spoken in secret, in a place of the land of darkness; I didn't say to the seed of Ya`akov, Seek you me in vain: I, the LORD, speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.
20 Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, you who have escaped from the nations: they have no knowledge who carry the wood of their engraved image, and pray to a god that can't save.
21 Declare you, and bring [it] forth; yes, let them take counsel together: who has shown this from ancient time? who has declared it of old? Haven't I, the LORD? and there is no God else besides me, a just God and a Savior; there is no one besides me.
22 Look to me, and be you saved, all the ends of the eretz; for I am God, and there is none else.
23 By myself have I sworn, the word is gone forth from my mouth [in] righteousness, and shall not return, that to me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
24 Only in the LORD, it is said of me, is righteousness and strength; even to him shall men come; and all those who were incensed against him shall be put to shame.
25 In the LORD shall all the seed of Yisra'el be justified, and shall glory. — Isaiah 45 | Hebrew Names Version (HNV) The Hebrew Names Version Bible is in the public domain. Isaiah 45
“This is what the Lord says to his anointed,     to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him     and to strip kings of their armor, to open doors before him     so that gates will not be shut: 2 I will go before you     and will level the mountains[a]; I will break down gates of bronze     and cut through bars of iron. 3 I will give you hidden treasures,     riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord,     the God of Israel, who summons you by name. 4 For the sake of Jacob my servant,     of Israel my chosen, I summon you by name     and bestow on you a title of honor,     though you do not acknowledge me. 5 I am the Lord, and there is no other;     apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you,     though you have not acknowledged me, 6 so that from the rising of the sun     to the place of its setting people may know there is none besides me.     I am the Lord, and there is no other. 7 I form the light and create darkness,     I bring prosperity and create disaster;     I, the Lord, do all these things.
8 “You heavens above, rain down my righteousness;     let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide,     let salvation spring up, let righteousness flourish with it;     I, the Lord, have created it.
9 “Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker,     those who are nothing but potsherds     among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter,     ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say,     ‘The potter has no hands’? 10 Woe to the one who says to a father,     ‘What have you begotten?’ or to a mother,     ‘What have you brought to birth?’
11 “This is what the Lord says—     the Holy One of Israel, and its Maker: Concerning things to come,     do you question me about my children,     or give me orders about the work of my hands? 12 It is I who made the earth     and created mankind on it. My own hands stretched out the heavens;     I marshaled their starry hosts. 13 I will raise up Cyrus[b] in my righteousness:     I will make all his ways straight. He will rebuild my city     and set my exiles free, but not for a price or reward,     says the Lord Almighty.”
14 This is what the Lord says:
“The products of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush,[c]     and those tall Sabeans— they will come over to you     and will be yours; they will trudge behind you,     coming over to you in chains. They will bow down before you     and plead with you, saying, ‘Surely God is with you, and there is no other;     there is no other god.’”
God is the only One who can rightfully lay claim over all of heaven and all of earth. He is sovereign because He created all of light and all of darkness. Even when Satan acts, he behaves with limitations to his spirit. God understands and penetrates the knowledge of Satan, even if it's superficially true at times; it always comes with a price. God sees and attends to the heart of the matter, but Satan is only concerned about what we know or what we can accomplish for his sake. It is a bit ironic that God created Satan, but it was with creative power that God did so. God allows us to choose heaven or hell but we will always somehow be enslaved and not truly living up to our creative potential if we are choosing Satan over God - although it would appear otherwise, since Satan is the father of rebellion and individualism. Again ,it is always with a price. Even if we still choose Satan over God, remnants of God's character will still be contained within us, since we were all crafted in God's image. Unique aspects of God can be discovered through all forms of "religion" or "spirituality," but the one path to salvation through Christ alone has ways of expanding our minds and hearts so that the road to eternal life can be seen more clearly. God's creative license within us and within the world around us can be known, as it is written, in the law, and within the Spirit, which is the law. God's revelation of Christ through the Word has come to supply us with the simplicity of His love and grace but also to enhance our understanding of eternal truth as exemplified by the law. God will never allow us to fall so far from Him as believers that we are irredeemable. Truly, no one and nothing, is beyond redemption or hope of salvation through what He has proven to do for us. Many will be led astray, even professing believers, through false bliss and worldly passions, which will ultimately indicate, by their fruits, they are both in the world and of the world.

Isaiah 45: Mature View of God
God’s words of reassurance and promise were for the people of God, for the Judahites who had been taken captive and sent into exile. But God opens up God’s appeal to all people in every nation. #Isaiah45 #MatureViewofGod
Universal Call to Salvation God’s words of reassurance and promise were for the people of God, for the Judahites who had been taken captive and sent into exile. But God opens up God’s appeal to all people in every nation. If my path fills with darkness, and there is no sign of light

Please give us all your Baldwin thoughts (historical or movie) really love your Vizzy T posts
haha thank youuu <3 these arent all my thoughts about baldwin but right now i cant stop thinking about the line
“when i was 16 i won a great victory. i felt in that moment i would live to be 100. now i know i shall not see 30.”
baldwin says he was diagnosed with leprosy as a boy*, so its not like at this moment he just didnt know about his disease. he knew he was sick and what his fate was. but that victory, that feeling of success, overpowered the more logical parts of his brain. and he just… forgot about the reality of his situation. at least for a little while.
and sure a 16 year old boy having an “im invincible! im gonna live forever!” moment isnt anything new. but baldwin having a moment like that after getting diagnosed with a chronic degenerative (terminal? for his time period?) disease… theres something very bittersweet to me about it. makes me wonder how long that feeling of invincibility lasted. what was it that Reminded him. brought him back down.
(*irl baldwin, while suspected of having leprosy as a child, wasnt formally diagnosed until after he became king. wether they told him about these suspicions or not he wouldve still Known there was Something Wrong.)

Turn to Me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth. What does it mean to say “I create darkness?” Darkness is just the absence of photons. It’s like saying, “I create vacuum.” Or more accurately, “I have no understanding of physics.”
It means the god who supposedly created light, including the mechanics by which it operates, doesn't understand what light is. Least of all that it requires a source, and he had created "light" before anything else, including anything to emit it.
It's also unclear why he had to create light, rather than simply creating sources that emit it, or why light was necessary at all, when he could have skipped that and our dependence on a non-target source. Echolocation, perception of heat, there are dozens of ways we could experience the world without light (we evolved eyes because cells that reacted to shadows were evolutionarily advantageous).
You're right. It doesn't make any sense.
It's part of the whole analogy of good and evil. Believers sometimes make excuses for the existence of evil - the evil their god created - by saying that good can't exist without evil, as light can't exist without darkness. This is, of course, really stupid. I've written about it before.
If we conceive evil as negative-good, darkness isn't negative-light, it's zero-light. Dark is neutral. Most of the universe is dark. And I don't know of a model for anti-light the way there's a model for anti-matter.
We don't need to experience evil to appreciate good. We can compare it to zero-good rather than negative-good. Like I said, this analogy is idiotic, and is a really poor rationalization for a god who wants evil to exist, and is therefore perverted, stupid or non-existent. Which makes what (supposedly) happened in the Garden even more sick and depraved.

Isaiah 45: A Hope, and a Future
It can feel empowering to feel like you and I are entitled to better treatment, but we can never know the whole story, it is simply too vast. #Isaiah45 #PotterandtheClay #HopeandaFuture
Does the Clay Challenge the Potter? I keep thinking about God’s words in this chapter, words that remind us who we are and who God is. Woe to those who strive with their Maker,    earthen vessels with the potter!Does the clay say to the one who fashions it, “What are you making”?    or “Your work has no handles”? Woe to anyone who says to a father, “What are you fathering?”    or to a woman,…

Lesson 045: God Can Turn Things Around
Genesis 45:4-5 - And Joseph said to his brothers, “Please come near to me.” So they came near. Then he said: “I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt.  But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.
Joseph could have rightfully attributed all the setbacks and hardships in his life due to the actions of his brothers.  They threw him into a pit.  They mocked him.  They considered murdering him.  They sold him into slavery.  They ignored his cries for mercy and for help.  They were the reason he was separated from his father.  They were the reason he was a slave in Egypt.  They were indirectly the reason he spent two years in an Egyptian prison.
Let’s read together Leviticus 19:18; Matthew 5:38-39; Matthew 6:15; Romans 12:19; and 1 Thessalonians 5:15.
Joseph had the ability and plenty of reasons to get revenge upon his brothers.  Instead, Joseph let go of his past pain and forgave his brothers.  He even went a step further.  Joseph saw the good God wrought in his life despite the evil his brothers intended all those years ago.
God forgives us as we forgive others.  Even if you do not feel like forgiving others, ask God for the power to forgive them.  After all, Jesus died for us so that we could be forgiven of our sins.
