Hi this took me like 4 days to write, I thought it was longer than that but okay, I have loads of other stuff in the works, this is just the first one I finished. Sorry for the wait. So this is for the prompt we’re Crutchie and Race get into trouble.

I tried to mix both 1992sies and livesies in this, but I don’t think it really comes across. Also, this story is ever so slightly exaggerated, but oh well. But it’s been a while since I’ve written anything, so this probably isn’t the best.

Race rolled his eyes and sulked further down into his chair, only to regret it when the hard plastic rubbed uncomfortably into his back. He glanced at his companion, who looked just about as shit as he felt. Crutchie kept nervously running a hand through his hair and fidgeting with the helm of his shirt, he looked like someone who had just been caught doing something illegal. Oh wait, that's because he had. Let's take a step back, shall we?

2 hours earlier.

Crutchie stood outside his door step, awaiting Race's arrival. The two had decided to spend the evening together, since none of their other friends were available. Race had said he would pick him up at 6. After Crutchie's watch ticked 6:15, Race's old TP Cruiser pulled up. He wore a bright, cheeky grin as he leaned over to open the passenger side door. "Get in loser, we're going shopping!" Crutchie gleefully obliged, grabbing his crutch and sliding into the front seat.

"Are you ready for the funnest night of yer life?" Race asked, a unlit cigar hanging loosely from his mouth.

Crutchie laughed. "We'se just goin' ta the diner on 4th, ain't we?"

"Nope," Race grabbed something from the cupholder beside him and handed it to Crutchie. "Just got this from my guy. Thought we'd treat ourselves tonight." It was a fake ID.

"Yer guy?" Crutchie snorted, handing the card back. "You'se mean Albert."

"Maybe I do. Anyway, I'm low on cigs and shit, so I thought we'se stop by a corner shop and see how well this baby works." Starting the engine, Race pulled out of Crutchie's drive and set off for the nearest place that would give them what they wanted.

"What if we'se get caught? I don't wanna be done just because you'se got a nicotine addiction." Crutchie offered, messing with the diles for the radio.

"Then I punch Albert in the face," Race resorted. That drew a snicker from the blonde. "But seriously, don't worry 'bout it. Everthin's gonna be a-okay!"

Spolier altert; it wasn't.

After 10 or so minutes of driving, Race pulled to a stop and poorly parked the car. "Eh, good enough." He got out, with Crutchie tailing right behind him.

"You don't gotta come in. Ya know, cuz yer so scared of gettin' caught." The taller boy mocked.

Crutchie retaliated by hitting Race in the leg with his crutch. "I'm comin' wit' cha so you don't get punched in the face." Race forged offence, but waved off the comment.

The shop was small, just your regular off-licence, cheap booze with an even cheaper taste, the perfect thing to fuel Race's needs. A little bell rang as they opened the door, there weren't many people inside the shop, Crutchie noted the few middle aged men who were likely in there for similar reasons as themselves. Race swaggered to the front counter, an air of confidence around him. The shop clerk, a young man with a stoic expression, rolled his eyes at the tall blonde.

"What can I get you?" The clerk's tone was as cheerful as expected.

Race grinned cockily. "A smile would be a start, sweetheart," The shop clerk didn't respond, but continued to glare the boy down. "Okay then… A box o' ya finest Corona's and summa that scotch ya got up there." Race slapped $50 on the counter, along with his fake ID.

The clerk picked the card up, eying it suspiciously. Crutchie had a feeling this wouldn’t end well. “Yah think you’re funny, kid? Think I don’t know what a fake ID looks like?” The clerk said. “I’m gonna have to call the cops, you know.”

Race’s expression floored. Disbelief and fear quickly made itself at home. Crutchie felt a similar dread rise up in his stomach, he looked to Race for an inkling of what to do next, but the tall boy just continued to stare dumbly. Until he finally said, “I’m gonna fuckin’ kill Albert.”

As it turns out, the shop had an undercover officer outside the shop to deal with instances like this. The clerk called him in, and he escorted Crutchie and Race to the local station. Luckily, they had pretty much just been given a slap on the wrist and a call home. Except, since this wasn’t Race’s first offence, so he had also been slapped with a $50 fine.

The boys anxiously awaited the arrival of the parents. Race had already had a million and one messages from his brother, Jack. The sonva’ was having a field day with this. Text after text about how much trouble Race would be in, how he was grounded and how much shit Jack’s going to give him for this. Race ignored his brother, instead opting for spamming Albert with a variety of angry messages in all caps.

Race slipped his phone into his pocket, just in time to see some familiar faces walk though the station door. Bryan Denton, Race’s foster father, walked up to the receptionist desk, before being pointed towards where the boys were sitting. Race looked at Crutchie, before straightening his back and putting on his most charming smile. "Heya Denty!" Race beamed, hoping to the gods above that this would go in his favour. Bryan didn't look particularly mad, but Denton never really got mad. It was like the man was incapable of it, it was great, and Race had done a lot of things that would cause any parent to flip their shit.

"Race," Bryan started, calm and collected as always."What were you thinking?" Okay, maybe it wasn't as great as Race thought, Denton's tranquill state was quite unsettling at the moment, Race had no idea what he was thinking.

"We'se just wanted to have a bit a' fun, ya know, teenage stuff," The blonde rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Did they'se tell ya 'bout da fine?"

"Yeah, they told me over the phone," Denton said. "I'll pay it and then we'll go home. Jack's waiting for us in the car.”

Race rolled his eyes. "Oh yay."

Crutchie didn't really pay much attention to the scene in front of him, he was too caught up in his own head. Fear and worry filled his thoughts, his grandmother wasn't the most forgiving then it came to things like this. Crutchie remembered once when he was 7 and snuck out of his room in the middle of the night to get one of the freshly baked cookies his grandmother had made that day, the elderly woman had found out about his midnight snack and boy was there hell to pay. She wasn't particularly mean or nasty, she could just be strict at times.

Times like these, Crutchie thought as he saw his grandmother barrel towards him with an expression that would make the toughest of men wet themselves. "Charles Andrew Morris! You are in so much trouble, young man!" Oh no, she used his full name. He really was a goner.

"Race, I don't think I'm comin' outta this alive…” Crutchie said.

Race snorted. "Don't worry, my dude, I got this." Crutchie didn't have time to ask what 'this' was, as Race stepped in front of him and greeted his grandmother.

"Mrs Morris, so good ta see ya 'gain," Race started. That diverted the woman from her path of destruction, as she instead gave the blonde a striking glare. The Italian tried not to shrink under her gaze, opting to continue with his sentence. "So um, ya see, Ma'am. It wasn't actually Crutchie's fault, it was mine. So, err, don't punish him for my mistake."

Crutchie was in complete disbelief. And he wasn't the only one, Bryan shared a similar expression. While Race was a good friend, he was also a bit of an asshole, so him taking all the blame for this (even though it was his fault), was a surprise.

Crutchie’s grandmother eyed the boy suspiciously, before she turned on her heels and walked away. “Come on, Charlie, it’s time to go home.”

Crutchie was slightly dumbfounded, but didn’t question as he hugged Race. “Thanks man.”

Race winked and smiled. “No problem, Crutch. Text me if you ain’t dead!”

“Will do!”

Stalking Jack the Ripper Series Review

My rate: 10/10

I have officially finished this series. This review will contain spoilers but i will warn y’all for each book when it comes. But let’s begin shall we!

Edit: I stopped writing it cuz it was getting late I ended up forgetting about this, so yea.

*Stalking Jack the Ripper*

This book contains everything I love (okay not everything, but in this case everything). We got Jack the Ripper, 1800s London (50/50 on 1800s cuz we all know how women and girls were treated), an amazing protagonist who don’t care for society rules/gender roles, and forensics/true crime. This was actually my first read for 2018. Like legit, I began readining this on New Years Day (January 1st). I think it took me either couple weeks or the month to read. I just loved this book throughout reading it.

Okay. Idk how I wanted to start the spoilers aspect. Aurdey Rose is honestly me (except being centuries apart). I love the fact how she can be a....idk how to put this....a lady and she knows how to cut bodies. That did not makes since....if it did, thank you for knowing what I was trying to say. Trying to think of analogy....ah yes it’s like how the princesses and queen in Shrek 3, they be all nice and princessey and next thing you know, the Queen freakin kicks down the wall with her foot...maybe head...it’s been a while. Thomas dang Cresswell...I want a Thomas in my life. All I have to say...jk but yea. My suspicions of Thomas of being The Ripper was in the beginning, I also think I had suspected Uncle as well, but that I do not know, then suspected Audrey Rose’s father. But nope! It was freakin Nathaniel! Legit plot twist!

*Hunting Prince Dracula*

This was a good book! In the beginning Thomas and Audey Rose head to Romania, the home of Dracula! The explanation mark wasn’t necessarily but I wanted to be dramatic. They go to the...Bran Castle where Headmaster Moldoveanu teaches forensic science. There they embark on a strange yet familiar folk tale of Dracula and victims seeming of vampire bite marks.

My goodness this book! We get to see Audrey Rose (a female) in a all boys school basically and I loved it! We got to meet Anastasia who also wants to learn the subject. Meeting Daciana and Illeana and we got a lesbian couple in the 1800s. LGBTQ+ representation yall! Okay im good now. That one dude sketching Audrey Rose, definitely creepy, but I think we got to see why he did that. Although I would like to see the sketch. The injections making it appear to be fang marks, bodies being blood drained...i legit didn’t see that coming. The Order and how Daciana and Illeana being in it as well. Thomas being the rightful heir of Dracula. Aka the Prince of Dracula! Oh my goodness this book had me!

*Escaping From Houdini*

This was my first preorder of the series and in general. When I saw what the preorder would consist of (tarot cards based on the book, certification saying the signature was real...i think that was it....), I had to get it. I read this book while during Christmas time last year as we went to California (I got family up there). I also decided to try and sticky note it...i think it was like 3 chapters I did it with, but yea. The two, along with Uncle and...I forgot her name set sailed on Euphuria where there is a traveling carnival and murders...dun dun dunnnn! It was really good.

Freakin Mesphitos...i know I spled his name wrong. I have no words to describe him honestly. Definitely clever that is for sure. Liza in the carnival and dating the one and only Harry freakin Houdini! Liza being in the carnival did surprise me cuz I never thought Liza would run off to the circus. The murders being...compiled, no that’s not it...idk the word...as the tarot cards is honestly a clever analogy of it. I do admit the murders seemed gruesome (which I do like, but little too much in this case) and as always I do want to see what the murders looked liked. Mesphitos and Audrey Rose mini romance surprised but I wanted more 😬😁 does that make me a bad person? Thomas “proposing to Audrey Rose like yessss! My OTP!

*Capturing the Devil*

When I found out this book was up for preorder like the day of it, I legit was like “you know what, Imma spend my money!” I was so excited when it came. As a fan of true crime and knowing the book is set at the Chicago World Fair, I was like “we getting freakin H.H Holmes!” likes yesss! The plot twists were really good. I was legit so sad I finished the book and the series. I literally made a dedication of the series on my bookstagram, I was that sadened I finished it.

My goodness! H.H Holmes being the fact he was on it with Audrey’s brother. Random fact: there is a theory that H. H is really Jack the Ripper, so him being in on the murders there was really good. The letters, I read that part on the way to campus and was so intrigued. I gasped when Audrey Rose bumped into H.H in the beginning like ahhhh! Or mayber it wasnt her...idk at the moment. Thomas being in an arranged marriage cuz of his evil father definitely had me. The dude even threatened his sister, like mannn! I mean thankfully, it did work out. The way they caught H.H and saving Audrey Rose was crazy. The wedding was good. The first wedding was beautiful like I was ready to cry, but the actual wedding wasn’t as beautiful. They did marry, but the ending left me with questions. Ya know? What ither murders did they solve? Did they have kids? These are the answers we need!!! Okay, I’m good now.

In general

I have never been this engrossed with a series since Hunger Games and that was when the first movie came out. I never preordered a book before until this series. It is so amazing, so wonderful, full of crime stopping lovers and ahhhh. I definitely recommend this series. 10/10!

how EXACTLY do the tethered work??? like how do they know whats going on above? they seem to have a weird empath link but on the surface world ppl know/feel nothing? how did red know what adelaide was dancing and stuff if she wasnt born the tethered counter part

how are the tethered and humans different? bc w red and adelaide it seems its only bc of the way they were raised? red is the only who who does/can talk i suppose she was the only one who learned which is why when they switched adelaide had to 

tethered people are said to be without “Souls” but adelaide wanted to be free and she clearly loves her children very much which the other tethered obviously dont care one way or the other and Red hates all of them but i feel like Red had some affection for jason. 

how much do they copy each other bc apparently they have to marry and have the same children but like jason’s tethered had burns and stuff but he never seemed to play with fire? idk i didnt really get the whole magic trick thing he had in his hand

I finished it! I'm gonna start ranting now, not because I didn't like it - quite the opposite actually. I hope I don't bore you and I also wanna note that English is not my first language. :) <3 So.. what a ride huh? Don't even know where to start. First: definitely not a story about Achilles. Patroclus is the main character and also has (imo) the biggest character development. When Thetis said the best man of Myrmidons is going to die - we all knew she meant Patroclus. When Briseis said it - my heart shattered. I never really warmed up to Achilles. He didn't protected B, he just wanted to avenge Agamemnon. He sacrificed her. He's so fucking proud it literally makes me mad. He sacrificed hundreds of men just because of his pride. He's selfish and just eww. And that's what makes him so beautifully written. Because look at all the other gods, look at Thetis, Zeus, Athene.. they're all selfish and arrogant and don't care about humans - just like Achilles never cared for anybody but Patroclus. I loved, loved, LOVED how fierce Briseis was. After Ps Death she stood up against Achilles (rightfully so!), because she loved him just as much as Achilles did. I hope she didn't die because of Phyrros spear. Also: wtf is wrong with Phyrros? Entitled brat. What he did to B and Polynexa.. he's 11!! Complete unhinged crazy bastard. Glad he's dead tbh. Futhermore, Agamemnon and Thetis can get in the bin. Don't care that Thetis showed some respect to Pactrolus in the end.. should have done this a long time before that.

yeee its 1000% Patroclus story. yee i feel like sometimes the prophecy got to Achilles head sometimes but he did love Patroclus and im glad Patroclus protected Briseis and im glad from that protection she grew as someone more and stood up and im also glad that despite Patroclus never having anyone love him from a young age cause he was 'different' he ended up finding two people- very different from one another - who would do everything to keep him happy. Phyrros is messed up so much - but so is the entire greek mythology tbf

i hate Agamemnon and Thetis so much they pissed me off the entire book but that didnt stop the book from not being my fav book of all time - like the entire story is beautiful in a sense but thats down to the writing and i dont usually enjoy reading first person narrative but this one was just different - a good different

and yeah Thetis should have always shown respect to Patroclus (one of the best characters) from the beginning but i guess he wasnt as good as her son or good enough for him so she never liked him as she's 'almighty little git' she should have always shown love to him and i feel like she should have loved Achilles more and protect him more

ever since i finished tower of dawn i’ve been wanting to write down my thoughts about it so here goes nothing lmao feel free to ignore this 

ok so tod started off pretty nicely sjm laid out the southern continent very descriptively and i was thoroughly invested bc well i was totally excited to read tod from the start and when i finally got my hands on it i was ready but not ready lol my emotions about it are just all over the place basically 

anyways i really enjoyed the aspects of the southern continent and the history of it the story of the khagans and how they are chosen was interesting the whole khagan gets to choose which child he/she wants as his/her heir was smth i got truly interested in bc its always the first born child who gets to take the crown or w/e so that was a nice change and the siblings that were introduced in tod were all dissimilar they all had such strengths to be heirs since they all specialized/lead different things like hasar had armadas and lead them sartaq had his aerial army kashin was a solider and controlled the armies on land arghun had his network of spies like i enjoyed that they all were individually so powerful i guess like thru each chapter you’d think the khagan would choose a different sibling but i was really happy that sartaq was chosen tho i did kinda feel like he would end up being heir like it became a bit obvious bc he seemed to be the one who took a stand and was like imma leave if you dont help aelin and co. 

ok lets move onto yrene towers at first i didnt know how to feel about her only bc we didnt get into her character as much yet but when she went to see chaol and nesryn for the first time i was literally laughing also idk why but the dynamic between her chaol in that first meeting made just go yup they gonna fall in love im a sucker for haters to lovers trope ok she literally despised him for a good few chapters lol yrene is freaking amazing and so badass her story was smth i really enjoyed i was really interested in her powers and all about the healers she wanted to make a difference and help her ppl and she got her wish in the end what was really cool about her was that she taught young ppl self defense even tho she knew not so much she wanted to give those girls a change to fight back and when the torre was attacked she knew how frightened that made them and made chaol come teach bc he’d be a good distraction from all the horrors i just really loved the way her mind works she was invested in the art of healing so thoroughly and yrene never backed down she was so determined to find answers like i loved her so much she was amazing slm may have faults but the way she writes female characters is really empowering LISTEN I NEED TO TALK ABOUT HOW YRENE PUSHED HASAR INTO THE WATER i legit started laughing so hard like i needed that it was so good yrene is everything if you dont want to read this book bc of chaol read for yrene ok that’s all im going to say yrene was wonderful 

chaol westfall my first thought about him was ‘my baby i hope you heal and get to fight again’ like reading about how much he didnt like it in his chair was really sad i mean i get it chaol was always really determined and he like being ready to fight and then he lost movement in his legs and his world turned upside down like when yrene was healing him and he was feeling all the darkness and remembering what his father did to him when i read that his father literally pushed/threw him out of the house made me tear up chaol hit his head hard and the son of a bitch father didnt even let chaol’s mother come to him and terrin saw and chaol felt guilty for leaving him i just was so hurt reading that and also few guards helped him leave anielle and his damn father banished them to the mountains like i hated chaol’s father and now i just cant the darkness chaol had in him was so much did he hate himself? i think so but he was so angry and things were haunting him it just made my heart hurt i loved tower of dawn bc we got to see everything about chaol what he felt what he realized it was really good throughout he kept thinking about dorian and always was so loyal to him i love it when they reunite i need sjm to have them hug for a good hour or more tbh like its needed what also made my heart shatter was what he felt for aelin in his darkness you can see how he loved her and his hate for her too like i dont know how to explain it it made me feel idk his darkness was terrible and at some parts i had to put the book down to stop feeling too much idk chaol has gone through so much and it was nice to see what he felt he conquered his darkness and realized and accepted himself his journey was rough but he found himself i was so excited to read this book only bc of him he has always been one of my fav book characters and this made me love him so much more 

CHAROENE???? i dont know chaol and yrene’s shipname but imma tell you i love them together their dynamic was wonderful they slowly became friends and trusted one another they had to somewhat quickly open up to one another bc it was the only way chaol was going to heal physically and emotionally i enjoyed seeing how they developed their relationship it was nice chaol deserved to love someone who cared for him so much my favorite part was when they got into a fight and yrene was walking away and chaol wanted to go after so he willed himself to walk ever so slightly and as he was somewhat getting closer to yrene she began teasing him and moving away to make him walk more it was so cute i liked their relationship a lot they both felt equally comfortable to talk to one another and it was like a balance you know what actually my fav part was their day out in the city when they just rode horses and yrene was healing ppl it was sweet and calm and when they went out to eat just the two of them with no agenda they both deserved smth like that i loved it ik most ppl are going to say sjm wanted to just pair everyone off with a love interest but i love these two it was unexpected esp the fact that they are linked to each other and they’re married!! but i love it im a sucker for that bond stuff ok this relationship made me love tod so much 

nesryn faliq when she was first introduced in queen of shadows i was 50/50 on how i felt about her like i liked her but also somewhat didnt but let me tell you tod made me love her chaol was an idiot for using her as he did and she realized it and it seemed she was ok with it but i loved that she got to have her adventure i loved that she got to return to home and see her family she got to explore the lands of antica with sartaq and kadara what made me like her more was that she was didnt let opportunities pass her by she decided to go with sartaq and find her adventure on her own tho i did sort of predict that her and sartaq were going to become a thing after their little flight on kadara in the beginning idk it just seemed like they would be a thing which they did but i liked it she deserved someone like sartaq there was a lot of mutual respect in their relationship which i admired i loved that thru nesryn we got to learn more about antica and the history and everything like its her home and we got to see what she felt and loved about it that was my favorite thing i also loved that she got her own ruk!! AND NESRYN CAN SING that was so amazing like it adds so much more to her i love her 

a few other things one FUCKING MAEVE IS A VALG QUEEN I HATE HER like that made me so mad and now i want to know how everyone will react to this and what they will do i hope aelin NO ROWAN RIPS HER TO SHREDS another thing lysandra and falkan being her uncle was amazing i loved that we got to learn somewhat as to how lysandra got her powers butterfly the horse made this book a million times better again yrene pushing hasar into the water was hilarious hasar deserved it lmao i really wished someone did smth like to arghun kadara deserves appreciation for being an awesome ruk when she got trapped in the spiderweb i was a wreck also again MAEVE IS A VALG QUEEN what on earth and duva being possessed by valg and throwing her younger sister off a balcony i cried and duva was pregnant that was just so sad im so happy that yrene saved her life im happy that one else died i mean chaol came close obviously again and yrene and him are now linked which is cool but also like terribly dangerous i want to see what sjm is going to do with that the healers were so cool i loved reading about the torre and the origins and everything i hope we get to see more about them yrene is bringing hundreds of them with her so it could be a possibility there was just so much going on in this book lmao

i know i just hit the surface with a lot of this but i really wanted to get my view on the three mains out chaol yrene and nesryn are amazing and you know what i loved that this book was about them finding out where they fit into this war thats booming chaol was uncertain and felt he had nothing to offer bc he was injured but realized that the chair wasnt limiting him but he himself was nesryn found that she can be her own adventure she found that her home country was her place yrene discovered that her powers could save people who are possessed by the valg and that was epic i loved that this book was more about all these characters discovering who they are rather than anything else i loved it so much i was so excited for it and it didnt disappoint me
