STEPS TO TAKE IN AFRICAN SPIRITUALITY
African Spirituality is undoubtedly our Ancestors way of life which still prove it's realness and validity till date, It doesn't matter your level of brainwashed, once you can wake up from the sleep of lies and started questioning things, you will started realizing the level of lies and harms religions have done to you, that's step is called awakening, staying on the path without going back is called consciousness and seeing things differently from what religion called them means you have your third eye opened.
According to African Spirituality (Yoruba culture and heritage) the steps to take after awakening, consciousness and third eye opening are as follows:
1. Chosing your crown ORISHA to know which orisha crown you, this is normally done here once a child is born, from the date of birth till the maximum of three months the crown ORISHA of such child need to be chosen to know which orisha that will help the child throughout his/her journey on this planet. Due to inability to be born here in Africa, we make it the first step to be taken for people in diaspora whenever the are back to practice African Spirituality. Note that crown ORISHA is not chosen randomly, it is chosen through IFA divination which comes with fees.
2. Making EBO and feeding or making offerings to your crown ORISHA. Whenever any issue in African Spirituality involved IFA, EBO most be made after the IFA divination, the purpose of the EBO making is to provide solutions to the problem related to the life of the person's who crown ORISHA is chosen. It may be done together with the offerings to the crown ORISHA, depends on how the person want it.
3. Isefa, itefa and IFA initiation. This is a special step to be taken in African Spirituality, it opens you to the world of truth and perfection and it gives more energy and open you to blessings and fulfilments through the knowledge and guidance of IFA the omniscient.
4. Setting up Altars. This is very important too, it make you get more closer to the ORISHAs, EGBE and the Ancestors because altars are not just a set up but it's a portal through which you can communicate with the Ancestors, EGBE and ORISHAs through prayers and offerings.
5. Regular feeding and offerings. This makes you fit for receiving blessings from the Ancestors, ORISHAs and EGBE because they honor those who honor them, feed those who feed them.
6. Regular IFA divination and EBO making. There is an African adage that says " as today is tomorrow may not be so makes babalawo makes IFA consultation for himself every five days" we need to consult IFA regularly to know how our life journey is going, even when things are going smoothly it's advisable to consult IFA so as to know what to do to keep it going that way.
7. Sara and charity. This is also a good way to receive blessings from the Ancestors, you need to help people, cook food and assemble people to eat with you in the honor and remembrance of the depart members of your family, it attract their blessings.
8. And so many more steps

DEJA VU (2022 NIGERIAN MOVIE) & THE CONCEPT OF EGBE ORUN
Tumblr media
The Nigerian movie Deja Vu is a must-watch for individuals interested in the concept of Egbe Orun. It is a story about two individuals having issues in their relationship. The narrative focuses on a married couple who discovers that their children do not share a biological connection with their father. This revelation triggers turmoil within the family as the husband contemplates divorce while the wife insists that the test results are inaccurate.
Throughout the film, the couple and their families seek spiritual assistance in this matter. The wife and her mother consult their Christian pastor, while the husband’s family rely on the wisdom of their Ifa priest. Thereafter, the role of the Babalawo becomes paramount in resolving the family’s issue. He plays a significant part in helping everyone involved in the matter overcome a serious spiritual problem.
DEJA VU PLOT
As the couple find themselves at odds over the situation, the wife goes to her in-laws for reconciliation. After much thought and deliberation, they resolve to have her face the Mother Shrine to prove her innocence. This is a shrine that has existed since ancient times within Yoruba communities.
The Mother Shrine is considered one of the most important shrines within the Ifa tradition. People often go to it to make offerings for the whole town or community. They likewise go to it to resolve serious issues. So, taking the matter here was a major step for the family.
At the same time that the couple goes through their troubles, another family is experiencing turmoil. Ultimately, a jealous wife harbors suspicions of her husband’s infidelity. The husband in this marriage is very kind and loving toward his wife. However, he has issues performing in the bedroom, leading her to believe that he is being unfaithful. To compound their issues, this couple has been unable to bear children.
Later, it is discovered that the woman in the first marriage is having sleepwalking issues. During these episodes, she unknowingly engages in intimate relations with another man, which resulted in her pregnancies. It turns out that the man with the jealous wife is the father of her children. He appears to likewise be sleepwalking during their sexual encounters.
CONNECTION TO EGBE ORUN
While Deja Vu doesn’t explicitly mention that the pair are having Egbe Orun issues, it is deeply implied. Anyone familiar with Yoruba beliefs can easily make the connection. The two individuals end up being star-crossed lovers from a previous life who made a pact to never be with anyone else. Because of this, they suffer in their current relationships.
Neither of the two is able to fully embrace their spouse because of their spiritual connection. Though they both enjoy materially abundant lives, they lack harmony in their relationships. Those aware of the notion of Egbe Orun spirits understand that this is a tale-tale sign of their presence. This group of spirits is known to cause marital and other relationship issues.
Tumblr media
THE YORUBA CONCEPT OF EGBE ORUN
However, keep in mind that the movie has its sensational moments. The movie hinges on Yoruba beliefs surrounding the concept of heavenly mates. However, it is not entirely based on traditional ideologies regarding this group of spirits.
While these spirits are known to engage in spiritual sex with their earthly mates, they cannot physically impregnate their human spouses. Instead, they often cause challenges with the individual being able to conceive, carry, or deliver children. Also, they may cause many troubles in the person’s marriage, leading to separation or divorce.
Additionally, the concept of a spiritual spouse implies that this individual resides in heaven, separated from their earthly mate. If one has a heavenly mate, they will not encounter this entity in physical form on Earth. So, even though the concept of Egbe Orun is addressed, the plot doesn’t fully support the notion of having a heavenly peer according to traditional belief.
SUMMARY
The movie Deja Vu is a great watch for anyone desiring to gain deeper understanding of the Yoruba culture. It features the Ifa tradition as a major part of modern-day life within a Yoruba family. It tells a story of how individuals interact with their traditional beliefs in mundane and monumental ways. Overall, it is an interesting way to learn more about Egbe Orun spirits for those interested in the Ifa religion.

Alzheimer's Disease Course project part III: Describe current initiatives Environmental Pre-screening and early intervention in the identification and treatment of AD is essential. One recent NIH-funded study used DNA samples from more than 56,000 study participants and "analyzed shared data sets to detect gene variations that may have subtle effects on the risk for developing Alzheimer's" (Studies find possible new genetic links for Alzheimer's disease, 2011, National Institute on Aging). The study found several new gene variants indicating "risk factors for late-onset Alzheimer's disease, the most common form of the disorder" (Studies find possible new genetic links for Alzheimer's disease, 2011, National Institute on Aging). This is a form of primary intervention, or preventative treatment. Identifying genes can allow for improved early drug treatment studies of the disorder. The interaction between genetics and the environment, and what causes these genes to be expressed can also be studied. Does every person with these genes develop AD? Under what circumstances? Source: Studies find possible new genetic links for Alzheimer's disease. (2011). National Institute on Aging. National Institute of Health. Retrieved October 10, 2011 at http://www.nia.nih.gov/Alzheimers/ResearchInformation/NewsReleases/PR20110404GWAS.htm Socio-economic Poverty and illiteracy significantly increases the probability that an individual will manifest Alzheimer's Disease, along with other health-related complications. One study of a population of Israeli Arabs noted for their high degree of manifesting Alzheimer's found that hypertension (which can be diet-related, and linked to poverty, given that a less healthy diet is often more commonly manifested in the poor) and low education significantly increased the probability of developing AD. This intervention is also primary in nature, given that it underlines the need for social changes, such as improved diet and education amongst the poor, to reduce the prevalence of the disorder. Source: Israeli-Korn, S.D.; M. Masarwa; E. Schechtman; A. Abuful; R. Strugatsky; S. Avni; L.A. Farrer; R.P. Friedland; R. Inzelberg. (2010). Hypertension increases the probability of Alzheimer's disease and of mild cognitive impairment in an Arab community in northern Israel. Neuroepidemiology, 34(2):99-105. Behavioral Recent studies, according to PubMed, show a mild improvement in AD patients using the herbal supplement ginkgo. One literature review studied seven trials involving 1,800 participants, all using a specific ginkgo preparation based on the extract EGb 761. The supplement trials were conducted for periods of varying duration. Patients taking a higher dose of the ginkgo extract (240 mg per day) improved in their daily functioning to a moderate degree in acts of self-care. This suggests a tertiary intervention -- using high levels of the supplement in a patient manifesting the early symptoms of the disorder may improve symptoms and reduce caregiver stress. The other popular elephant.
The day starts with a Sri Lankan breakfast of egg hopper, string hopper, sambal, dhal, bread, jam, fresh papaya juice, Dilmah Ceylon tea[1] and coffee.
Tumblr media
The rest of the day is spent on the beach reading, relaxing and body-boarding. Fifty metres from the shoreline the waves crash in at approximately 3m for peak to trough. When they break you can coast in from 25-30m like Sue does or wipe out like I do.
It is our last night here so when the sun goes down and we have showered and changed out of our daytime beach wear we head back to the beach for sundowners – strong King Coconut rum cocktails. Above us Orion is in clear view. However, at this latitude the constellation appears to have been rotated 90deg counterclockwise.
We had intended to eat on the beach but the menu was poor so we head back up the path for yet another meal at Loveena’s, by far the best food here. What follows is a lovely, noisy evening in the company of Sharon and Simon from Devon. Sharon fell in love with Simon at first sight while he was busking on the waterfront in Hania, Crete. Simon and Sue swap stories of their hippy days living there.
Sharon and Simon relate their story of an encounter with an elephant and the tuktuk driver’s obvious fear. Loveena tells us that arrests have been made after it was found that snacks being offered to the beast have been laced with hard drugs. As a momento of our evenings spent with her lovely Loveena presents us with a small carved elephant as we say our goodbyes. The other popular elephant is cool, refreshing bottles of EGB: Elephant Ginger Beer[2].

Markets Pull Back After Tariff Rally - What Traders Need to Know Trump's Tariff and Treasury Tangle: What's Behind the Market Moves Imagine this: You’re buying shoes online. You find the perfect pair, but they arrive two sizes too small—ouch! This is pretty much how some traders are feeling right now after the latest market developments. Markets rallied on Monday with a lot of hype around Trump's new Treasury Secretary nominee, but as the shoes didn’t quite fit, we’ve since seen some pullbacks—modestly, but still, we’re feeling the pinch. The Bear Steepening Curve: More Than Just a Fancy Term So, you might have heard terms like "bear-steepening" thrown around—sounds like a new yoga pose, right? But let’s get real. What we're actually seeing is that yields are moving higher at the longer end of the curve, while shorter-term rates aren’t budging as much. On Monday, the trend was more bull-flattening, meaning long yields dropped more than the short ones. Now, it’s almost the opposite, and traders are still figuring out where we’re heading. This change impacts how traders and investors balance risks. Imagine riding a seesaw where someone much heavier than you suddenly jumps on—the landscape shifts drastically, and that’s what the yield curve is all about: balance. For the next few days, expect this balancing act to continue until yields regain some solid ground. Gilts, Bunds, and EGBs: A European Squeeze On the other side of the pond, European bonds aren't having much luck either. German Bunds and UK Gilts are both a little "softer"—that’s finance talk for "not performing well." There’s been no earth-shattering news from the ECB speakers to move the needle, and while we did see a new Gilt issue open at 1.25% for 2054, let’s just say traders weren’t exactly jumping out of their seats—resulting in Gilts underperforming by 24 ticks. Here’s the thing: sometimes the market moves because of news, and other times it’s just vibes. Right now, it’s a vibes game in Europe. Italy: Breaking Records With Some New Bond Sales Moving on to Italy—because who doesn't love some good Mediterranean spice—they managed to sell more bonds than expected. They issued EUR 2 billion in 2026 BTPs and another EUR 1.75 billion in 2029 bonds. Basically, Italy just added a few more bricks to its debt fortress, but investors are still happy to buy in. But Here's Where the Real Magic Happens... With so many moving parts—bear steepening, Europe’s soft bonds, and Italy cashing in—how do you find opportunity amid the noise? First, remember that this volatility often offers the best setup for profit. If you’re someone who likes a challenge, these are prime times to keep your eyes peeled for those less obvious moves. Here's an advanced tip that most traders overlook: don't get swayed solely by political noise. Market dips like today’s can offer perfect entry points if you know how to pick the right moments. When everyone else feels like they've bought the wrong size of shoes, that’s when you can be strategic and snag a perfect fit. Contrarian Playbook: Use the Volatility to Your Advantage A contrarian approach works wonders here. While everyone else is panicking about bond yields moving unexpectedly, or prices pulling back, remember the markets are emotional. If you stay logical and can dive into the advanced data on bond yields—like understanding Germany's Bobl or Italy's 2026 BTP—you'll often find gold where others see gloom. Right now, the key isn’t just watching the news but understanding how each narrative intertwines with yield expectations. There’s more coming from central banks, and they’re just as confused as you sometimes—especially the BoE with Pill at the helm. Your Next Moves Want to stay on top of all this without feeling like you need a PhD in economics? Well, this is where you need a bit of a trading support system. Our free tools and education services can guide you through: - Forex Education: Get a clear understanding of all those bond-related terms at StarseedFX. - Community Membership: Get daily insights so you're not guessing alone—head over to StarseedFX Community. - Free Trading Plan and Journal: Keep track of all the volatility and how you react. Don’t let this be like those too-small shoes—keep it well-documented with our trading tools. This way, while everyone else is too worried about what Trump's latest tweet might mean for the yield curve, you’ll be one step ahead—balancing on that seesaw with precision. Go Forth, Strategize, and Conquer The markets are like a pair of online-bought shoes—sometimes they fit, sometimes they don’t, but with the right strategy, you can always make it work. Keep humor in your back pocket, stay aware of the insider opportunities, and let the chaotic twists work in your favor. And hey, if you want the real edge? Stick with us at StarseedFX, where the next-level insights and contrarian opportunities keep rolling. —————– Image Credits: Cover image at the top is AI-generated   Read the full article

24 Ògmhios 2566 EB/ June 24, 2023
Hey everyone. Pretty chill day - went for a long walk around the city. Bought a lacrosse pinnie that says Milwaukee Homo. I’m bi— and for the right woman, she’ll know do to look past the deceptive flag. I got really horny lol and severely almost bought a flashlight fleshlight, although I recanted. Took a nap, played lacrosse at the parish, and bought some groceries.
I found this store in town that I really want to discuss with Reaper one day. She’s called Beard MKE. 80+% of the merchandise in that store are direct references to inside jokes we’ve shared, and she would just be fun to share with him.
I opened an Alcoholics Anonymous book yesterday and found a pretty upsetting, racist passage about Irish stereotypes. I hope Reapergets what he wants out of AA. He’s my favorite writer, I déciderez
Decided.
I feel capable of replacing the hope and wait for Hanukah with the hope and wait for St. Patrick’s Day. A lot of patterns are happening to me right now which also happened during high school. So maybe that’s wh y I feel so calm during disaster.
My goals are vaguely to finish qualifying for Turing, start earning money there, and surprise Reaper with somewhere between $2,000 and $10,000 sometime between now and St. Patrick’s Day. 2567 EB (2024). About to sit down somewhere and try to re-watch The GirlFrom Plainville and other FHE goals from
This week.
I think I’m cerypasssionate very passionate about East Coast preppies entering the temple en masse one day. I guess we’ll see, huh?
Have a fun weekend everyone! EGB! Love you Reaper if you’re reading this. Hope your day was nice and if not I hope tomorrow is better. Richard Grannonan d Patrick Teaheyare kind of in a genre that my therapist has specifically discourage d me from reading or watching. It’s be nice to It’d be nice to try and watch them in solidarity with you, th Pugh. Though. Don’t look up Pugh in relation to Baltimore lmaooooooo

Don't mind me nerding out, but I've been watching episodes of Extreme Ghostbusters once again, and I can't help but notice the AMAZING job that Jason Marsden did to voice Garrett and bring him to life.
His voice is both so fitting and so soothing at times, it really brings a lot of depth to Garrett's character, and it shows you how good and multifaceted he is. I love it ❤️
P.S. : sorry for all those text posts, more art coming soon I promise ^^

Have there been any headcannons of the fellas and Janine that you personally disagree with or don't make sense to you?
Ooooh, that’s fun.
The fandom is dead and I’ve only been here since August, so I can’t say I saw a lot of stuff to either agree or disagree with tbh (which is why I ask ppl to send me their hcs and ideas bc I wanna see at least SOME content) buuuut there are a few character interpretations that piss me off.
1. “Janine would be jealous if Egon got in a relationship with other guys” she literally would not. If it was someone else? Maybe. The guys? No. Dude, they are a family. He constantly spends time w/ them instead of her, they sleep in the same room, they are BASICALLY an old married relationship already, and she dgaf, she loves all of them and she wouldn’t mind. SHE set them up to meet in EGB on Egon’s birthday, I swear. If she was jealous she’d constantly drag him away from them to spend time with her instead, but she doesn’t bc she doesn’t mind. They are grown adults and they can share perfectly fine. Stop putting them against each other. Pictures related.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. “Peter doesn’t care about his job or his friends and really only wants to gain fame and a girlfriend” I WILL KILL YOU!!! But like that is FACTUALLY not true. In the show we see him having MULTIPLE opportunities to leave ghostbusting behind and go on to do something more fun, but he ALWAYS turns them down like it’s obvious (ex: “Banshee Bake a Cherry Pie?”). Plus, he cares more about his friends and his job than about any girl, AND he cares more about them than his infamous movie counterpart!! Movie Peter turned down work when he had a date. RGB Peter? Yea, he whined for like 2 seconds but then went anyway and forgot about it like immediately. I mean hell, in EGB HE was the one who after TWO MINUTES back in the Firehouse went “wow guys, we stopped early with this, maybe we should reconsider and become Ghostbusters again?” HE LOVES THIS JOB AND THESE PEOPLE!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Not a fan of when ppl separate the guys into 2&2 ships, just let them be poly. All of their dynamics are written with the same depth, they all care about each other and have sweet moments, like come on. It esp irks me when ppl only care about Egon/Peter, idk, smth smth picking only the two conventionally attractive white men to ship and talk about from such a close-knitted group is an odd decision to me 🤷
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Hate when ppl ignore / exclude Janine from the group. She’s just as much a member of this family as the guys are, and they love her, leave my goat alone. But also don’t like when they ship her with other guys besides Egon. Maybe it’s cuz I see her as a lesbian, maybe not, idk. Not my thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. Idk don’t like when ppl can’t separate the movies from the show? Saying RGB guys left Egon alone like the movie ones did is plain wrong. They didn’t. It was a mutual decision to split up and they were all miserable and clearly missed each other. In Afterlife (as much as I like it) it barely seems like the guys gaf about Egon dying at all, but in RGB? Boy oh boy, they are the happiest people ever when they meet. Separate them!!
Tumblr media
6. PPL NEED TO LOCK IN FOR EGB!!! If you like RGB but never saw EGB you don’t see the most heartbreaking tragic part of their relationship and how it affected all of them, ESPECIALLY Egon. As I said before, EGB literally has everything ppl wanted from the sequel movies PLUS it’s actually good.
Tumblr media
But overall my fandom experience was positive (cuz the fandom is dead) yay!!!

Ring Ease Review
Ring Ease Review: Life Now Naturals's Supplement Analyzed
Tumblr media
The newest supplement from Life Now Naturals tries to help people having tinnitus by healing the cochlear nerve. Live Now Naturals spoke person David Smith claims that the noises in your ears will disappear due to Ring Ease, which reduces cochlear nerve inflammation by giving four natural ingredients, vitamins, and minerals. These are ginkgo extract, citrus bioflavonoids, magnesium oxide, and odorless garlic.
The online presentation of this supplement from the official website shows David Smith and his father, who lost his desire to live due to tinnitus issues. Furthermore, it shows how David being herbal a botanist, contacted Dr. Chris Mathers, who decided to help him by giving some valuable information about the pomelo fruit and how citrus bioflavonoids may help in tinnitus cases. Due to these facts, David Smith began his research on how flavonoids, ginkgolides, thai garlic, and magnesium, may fight cochlear nerve inflammation and tinnitus. In the end, he gave the powerful ingredients to his father, who, after several days, started to notice that the noises in his ears began to vanish away.
Ring Ease presents valuable claims because it is manufactured in the USA. Moreover, independent testing laboratories tested it for identity, strength, purity, and composition, and passed all tests. All these tests confirm that it is a safe supplement, and inside were found no contaminants or undeclared ingredients. It confirms that the claims presented and the ingredients from the label match the product inside. Although, no matter how natural a supplement may be, to stay on the safe side, it is better to take the bottle to your doctor and ask him if it is right for you or not. It is known that people with certain conditions(such as diabetes, eye problems, and other ones), or pregnant women are not allowed to take any kind of pills without the doctor's permission.
This product works through its four ingredients by restoring the blood flow to the eardrums, blocking the sensation of buzzing or other sounds in the ears. Dave Smith's father results, and several months of positive testing shows that all the ingredients, minerals and vitamins found inside were selected with great attention before Life Now Naturals released this supplement on the market.
Ring Ease's credibility is strengthened by the fact that more than 21000 men and women used it, showing minimum positive results to even recovering their full clear hearing with no signs of buzzing in it. Life Now Naturals put an assiduous work in choosing the right ingredients and in developing it. Next, we will look at the ingredients, vitamins, and minerals and the studies that cover its effectiveness.
Magnesium is the first essential mineral found in this supplement and unexpected, in the latest study from the U.S. National Library of Medicine shows here that magnesium may lessen the severity of tinnitus and hearing loss. Magnesium increase cochlear nerve function. It may help to relieve symptoms of tinnitus and hearing loss because the nerve better transfer the auditory signals to the brain. The study was conducted for three months with nineteen patients. The results were satisfactory because some patients have shown fewer tinnitus symptoms.
The second plant-derived compound from this supplement, citrus bioflavonoids, acts as an antioxidant and supports each ear blood vessels circulation. Dietary supplementation with citrus flavonoids had beneficial effects on people living with Meniere's syndrome. Because ringing in the ears is considered to be one of the component symptoms of this disorder, ENTs usually prescribe medication or supplements with Citrus or Lipo-Flavonoids.
Study: Learn More About The Latest Tinnitus Supplement & Try It Now Risk-Free
Ginkgo Biloba contains flavonoids and ginkgolides, which both have been scientifically proven to decrease inflammation. Eighth placebo-controlled trials of EGb 761 Ginco extract have shown that this extract was beneficial for tinnitus patients associated with aging-related hearing loss or even dementia. The overall tinnitus severity(in 3 studies) and volume/intensity(in 5 studies) decreased. In another study, 34 out of 360 participants from the first group, and 35 out of 360 participants from the second group, reported that their tinnitus had become less troublesome. Only ten percent of the participants showed positive outcomes over twelve weeks using another kind of Gingko Biloba extract.
Tumblr media
The last ingredient found in Ring Ease, odorless thai garlic, it is known for its high amount of flavonoids. The same as the ingredients described upper might help to reduce the cochlear nerve inflammation. Some studies suggest that it is good to have it in the daily diet to reduce aminoglycoside-induced hearing loss.
This supplement comes with two bonuses, an ebook, and a weekly newsletter sent via email. In the Perfect Hearing Playbook, people will find general information about hearing impairment, Usher Syndrome, Acoustic Neuroma, Meniere’s Disease, and Tinnitus. Also, there will find many methods on how to stop these conditions faster and even reverse hearing loss. In the Healthy Living Network emails, people will discover the latest and the most important discoveries regarding hearing or other health topics. Moreover, to find more information and to be informed more, people may join Facebook groups of this topic or hearing loss forums to find other herbal remedies like Ring Ease. There they may find out what other individuals tried , and if it worked or not.
Because Life Now Naturals knows that their supplement will help people to stop the noises in their ears, provides a three months money-back guarantee and free delivery. This guarantee comes alongside Life Now Naturals support staff, which is always there to help with answers or other issues that a customer may face regarding their product during workdays from 8 AM to 5 PM and during weekends from 9 AM to 1 PM.

Egbe: The Family You Didn’t Know You Had
Tumblr media
While many Ifa / Orisa / Isese practitioners have heard the word egbe in the context of a social club or study group*, the Yoruba practice of Egbe veneration has only recently come to this side of the water.
In a spiritual sense, your Egbe are your spiritual family - or Heavenly Mates as one author calls them. These beings may or may not incarnate, but they care for you in the dimension between conception and birth, and continue to journey with you after you arrive on earth. Incarnated Egbe may become our soulmates, “twin flames”, and good friends, but many remain disembodied, assisting us on another plane.
Folks then ask: how is this different from one’s Ancestors? An Ancestor is someone who physically incarnated, and is part of the literal bloodline that resulted in your unique existence. The distinction is that they definitely lived on earth in human form, and - in the case of your parents, grandparents, and so on - created a family line.
My humble theory is that Egbe rode the coattails of spirit guides, Ancestor veneration, and spiritualism (a practice prominent in Latinx / Caribbean sects of Yoruba tradition) until we could get back across the water and make the appropriate distinctions.
Still, our ignorance hasn’t always saved us. We’ve had Egbe issues for generations, but even some of our most experienced spiritualists didn’t know what they were seeing.
Premature death, fertility issues, generational “curses”, suicide, anxiety, depression, and all manner of personality issues can be - in a Yoruba context - attributed to a distorted relationship with Egbe.**
Another telltale sign of Egbe-related problems is a life that’s going along relatively well, but with some glaring, unexplained exception. For example: someone with a brilliant career and every material comfort whose houses keep burning down. A skilled, smart person that can’t keep a job. A genuinely kind, sweet soul that people lie and gossip about, with life-altering results.
From one perspective, it can sound a bit sinister. Why would anyone want to deal with a spirit like that?! But Egbe loves us so much that sometimes they just want us back home. They see the trials of this life and don’t understand why you had to leave while they’re chillin’ in the spirit realm. If you left a partner there, they miss you. If you fall in love with someone on this side, will you ever come back to them?
Remember: quite a few of them never lived as humans. They don’t have the same concepts of time and three dimensional reality, and may not realize how finite life is. It’s difficult to explain that we’ll naturally give up our bodies and return. All they know is: we’re not there, right now. Where we really belong. Worse yet, we seem to have forgotten about them!
So they mess with stuff that tugs at your soul. Block your blessings. Make life just uncomfortable enough in just the right ways so that you consider leaving.
With a few exceptions, my life was pretty dope until my mid to late 20s. In my early 30s, I noticed a shift.  Relationships dried up. I never went hungry, but there was rarely more than just enough money. Despite my previous spiritual work and training, the profound breakthroughs I experienced earlier in my journey eluded me.
In a fit of frustration, I called my godmother. By many measures, I was doing everything right, but reaping the bare minimum. My godfather cited the proverb, “Work like elephant, eat like rat.”
Exactly.
She asked Baba to throw opele*** for a quick answer. A few moments later he says, “Ah. She has to initiate to Osun and Egbe.”
With just those words, a weight lifted and a light came on. I came close to weeping.
Osun had always been close to me, but I’d been slated to initiate to Sango for years. I knew that could change... but, wow... Osun? And what the hell was an Egbe???
First, I apologized and pled with Egbe for mercy and to forgive my ignorance. After that, I fussed. In no uncertain terms, I let them know: “If you block me, you don’t get what you want. Without an open road, I can’t do what I need to do for you. Meet me at least halfway, and I’ll answer your call.”
In the meantime, I listened, learned, made an effort with offerings and prayers, and they showed up and showed out.
How do I know?
There were about 10 years between the time I entered the tradition, and when I initiated to Osun.
It only took two years after that to initiate to Egbe.
(Which is also a testament to the power and quick work of Osun. Ore Yeye O!)
Egbe’s energy can be overwhelming, dense, and unwieldy. They can be demanding, mischievous, even petulant. It takes time to get into a groove with them.
But they also brought wholeness and understanding: my precarious birth; a family full of miracle babies, miscarriages, and middle aged deaths; our uncanny connection to Spirit... all of it put into context.
I celebrate my renewed bond with my Egbe, and the sweetness they’ve brought to my life.
I am so grateful for this joy.

N.B. - If this resonates, please understand that regardless of the details of your current practice, instruction around and/or initiation to Egbe will likely require the assistance of a reputable, fully trained Yoruba Elegbe / Olorisa / Awo, since the practice remains a rarity in the west.
Also keep in mind that everyone has a unique destiny. The worship of Orisa, Ifa, Egun (Ancestors) and other energies are enough for many. I can only speak for my path, and what it demanded. If your practice is working for you, keep working it!
.:.
*E.g., egbe obinrin might refer to a women’s society / club / gathering. Egbe Obataala could refer to a group of Obataala priests and devotees gathering for worship and education centered around that Orisa.  .
**Yes, our circumstances and experiences have sometimes made it difficult to distinguish spiritual problems from the consequences of societal and systemic oppression. Still, one’s relationship with Egbe adds another layer to the story.
This is also not meant to negate the reality of mental illness and/or clinical diagnoses. Brain chemistry is a thing. However, Egbe is capable of inducing a very particular state that mimics these things - often accompanied by a sense of feeling out of place, lonely, or separated from something important. For me, it often manifested as a deep ennui and heavy sadness.   .

IWD: Foundation emphasises gender equality, women empowerment
Tumblr media
As the global community marks International Women’s Day, Cakasa Engineering Company and Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation have emphasised the need for gender equality and women empowerment. They made the call at an event to mark International Women’s Day (IWD) on Wednesday at Mushin, a suburb of Lagos. The Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of CAKASA Nigeria Company Ltd, Mr Barnabas Olise, said that IWD 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign topic was created by its initiators to start a global conversation on why equal opportunities were not enough. Represented by Mrs Folake Akangbe, Manager, Personnel Service, Olise said that true inclusion and belonging required equitable action since everyone had her own distinctiveness. The chief executive officer said that flowing from the general theme for 2023, the United Nations had further made the theme for the year: “DigitALL Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality”. “In both our business operations and as an organisation, Cakasa Nigeria Company Ltd. continues to place a high priority on gender equality and empowerment. “This is in line with accepted international best practices. “At Cakasa, we are aiming to develop novel approaches to assist our women in realising their human capital and become leaders, and change makers for resilient and inclusive development. “Women’s participation is crucial for organisational and societal advancement. “As part of our corporate social responsibility initiatives, led by Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation (CEF), our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm, we have encouraged women’s economic empowerment in tandem with girls’ educational advancement as a strategy to accelerate women’s inclusivity,” Olise said. He said that Cakasa was currently sponsoring the education of 10 young girls up to university level in Education District 1 Alimosho Local Government Area in Lagos State as a means of promoting gender equity. According to him, Women’s opportunities to pursue careers in fields related to Science, Technology. Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) are reduced if they are unable to access the Internet and do not feel secured doing so. “This is because they are unable to acquire the digital skills required to participate in digital spaces. “Seventy five per cent of jobs by 2050 will be in STEM fields,” Olise said. He, however, said that just 22 per cent of roles in Artificial Intelligence, for example, were held by women in the world today. He said that when women were involved in technology, more innovative solutions and innovations that supported gender equality and catered for the needs of women were produced. “Contrarily, their exclusion has significant financial consequences. “We, at Cakasa Nigeria Company Ltd., will continue to drive for women inclusiveness especially in our core practice areas of Science, Technology. Engineering and Mathematics. “I wish you a Happy International Women’s Day,” Olise said. On her part, the Executive Director of Cakasa Ebenezer Foundation, Mrs Helen Egbe, urged women in Mushin Community to be change makers. “We need women who would come and change the world. “The men have done it for so long. It’s time we need women to come up and let’s see what women can do,’’ Egbe said. She supported her position by lending some quotes from renown women across the globe. “Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States of America says that if we do not lift up women and families, everyone was so short. “Michelle Obama, former First Lady of the U.S., says that there’s no limit to what we as women can accomplish. “Maya Angelou, a renown revolutionist says each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for all women. “Serena Williams said that every woman success should be an inspiration to another. We are strongest when we cheer each other on,” Egbe quoted the women as saying. The executive director said that the foundation decided to partner with five schools within the Mushin area to celebrate women because of its vision to transform society and give hope to the less privileged. According to her, the foundation has prioritised Education, Empowerment, Health, Research and Development tools that are five focal areas. Egbe said that as part of the foundation’s CSR, it decided to impact the women, mothers of the children of New City Primary School, Papa Ajao, Oduduwa, New Estate Primary School because they were the ones who really were at home most of the time with the children She said that their impact on the lives of the children could not be underestimated. She said that the foundation would be partnering another foundation to expose the women to digital technological innovation. Egbe expressed gratitude to the women for giving up their tight schedule to honour their invitation. She also expressed gratitude to the education secretary of the district and the teachers and pupils of the schools for their participation. Also speaking, Education Secretary, Mushin Local Government Education Authority, Princess Olu Akinlude, expressed appreciation to Mushin women for their resilience. “Many of the women in our community are so strong,’’ Akinlude said. She said that the “I can do it” spirit of women was second to none, saying that they had also trained their children in like manner. “We are going out every time wherever we are, to propagate the the resilience of these women and to find a way of encouraging them in the area of specialties. “That is what we have been doing even in our Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), empowering them in some training on the use of their hands,” Akinlude said. She said that the council was in talks with some development partners to build the capacity of the women in their chosen career. In her keynote address, Agboola Olusola called on women to leverage technology to better their lives. Olusola said that with the aid of technology, the ordinary things done could be transformed with better value addition. According to her, there is a world of possibilities for women to thrive in the world. She urged women to make good use of their smartphones to improve on what they did. The event was graced by women within the Mushin locality, staff of the Foundation and the Cakasa company, teachers from selected schools and principal staff of the LGEA. Read the full article
