Okay so we all know about shiny Pokemon, but my question is why exactly do they exist? Like there’s already albino and melanistic Pokémon, and shininess isn’t genetic

So what causes it??

shininess is a very complicated mutation, but the short of it is that it's a somatic mutation- it doesn't occur in germ cells and isn't heritable.

however, we often refer to the "shiny gene," which complicates things further, because there is a genetic component! the gene just isn't what directly causes a pokemon to be shiny. we've found that a certain genetic mutation can in turn trigger a somatic mutation during development that makes a pokemon hatch out shiny, which is how a famous study in johto revealed that breeding from a shiny parent does increase the odds that the offspring will be shiny. later research found that the odds aren't nearly as high as first believed (they reported an astonishing 1.56% chance under certain conditions). this is what shiny mill breeders rely upon.

not every pokemon that inherits this gene will be shiny, so non-shiny pokemon can still pass it on, but the odds are much lower of seeing shiny offspring.

I think it was the second Murdle that Irratino dies, and Logico was wayyy too devastated for it to just be a friend. Like the entire book after the death was Logico going crazy and trying to find his revenge

Hey so about your seizure post and explaining to your neuro, do you feel it’s like spacing out? Or what some epileptics call “the feeling of doom” where something’s wrong/going to go wrong despite not having anything indicating something’s not right?

If it’s more spacing out, you can look into absence seizures and bring it up potentially.

I'm not sure which it is. My background in mental health likens the feeling to going in and out of a dissociative state, so possibly an absence seizure. Can they be so short that no one but me notices them?

Also, I thought absence seizures made you lose all awareness. I'm aware I'm having .... something... happening to me. I will do more research. I have an appointment today so I'll try explaining it again and see what they say.
