you all know that i love a great burger from time to time. well, i’ve found another! @walkons is new to birmingham and i’m glad they’re here. we went earlier this week for lunch. it’s been a while since i’ve been to that part of 280 so i was happy to see how much the area had changed. we were greeted by 3 hostesses when we arrived and i immediately thought “i think i’m going to like this place.” it’s a sports bar so tvs are beyond plentiful! it’s very spacious with multiple seating areas. the noise was average, no complaints there. we went to our table was greeted almost immediately by our server. he was cool, knowledgeable, and provided suggestions. i couldn’t decide between shrimp & grits, two pasta dishes, or the surf & turf. the surf & turf won. i requested medium but it was cooked closer to well. i didn’t make an issue of it though because it was very tender. it was LOADED with buttery shrimp and spicy jalapeños. oh wait, let me back up. hoover, we have chicken! today, I found out hoover has a new restaurant and being the chicken lover i am, i excitedly hurried over. @superchix hoover serves chicken tenders, sandwiches, salads, custards, and hand-spun shakes. I order the nashville hot chicken sandwich with slaw, rosemary pepper fries, and a strawberry shake. the chicken filet is HUGE! they offer the option of a double filet but you’ve got to be seriously hungry to handle it. but the food was really good. the chicken was tender and perfectly cooked (and spicy). adding the slaw helped to balance the heat and the slaw didn’t have too much mayo (that’s a plus). I attended “A Magic City Moment in Time” by Chef Daniel Knight of @dateknightcatering this past weekend. This was an experience! In addition to one the best DJs Birmingham has to offer, DJ @dj_maxx72, spoken word by @jusjason2020, a live art demonstration by @ahmadaustin_, there was a 9 course meal...9 course!! I was full before the entrees were served! Everything was absolutely amazing!! The food was phenomenal, tasty, and well prepared. I didn’t get a photo of the wonton trio (I think my fav of the evening in addition to the seeet potatoe cheesecake) but he also served a wonton trio; topped with your choice of smoked salmon, shrimp, or spinach artichoke dip. If you’re not following him, do so now! If you couldn’t attend this event, mark your calendars now for April 4th! I will definitely be in attendance again (yes, I had THAT much fun).
