Sharing since I’ve heard the anons are at it again. I’ve done this for several anons and it has not blocked me from getting anon asks from other users - only the specific user causing the issue. Hope that helps!

Hey guys, so recently in our inbox, we got a submission about anon hate and tracking IP addresses of anon asks. Sadly, I’ve been doing some research and with the new tumblr asks, I cannot find any way to track the IP address but you can block the IP address from sending any more anon messages to your inbox. So if you are getting anon hate or say someone is taking advantage of your triggers, this is how you block an anon’s IP address, it’s simple and actually a tumblr feature:

1. Go to the message in the inbox and press the three grey dots in the corner of the message.

2. Press the block button

3. Click the blue ‘Block’ and this will block and anonymous messages from that IP address from getting sent to your inbox. You can still get sent messages from the actual account but not anonymous.

Voila! You have now blocked that IP address from sending you anon messages. It’s not a perfect fix but it’s something.

personally i think the best way to look at this election in terms of "who am i (as a viewer) going to vote for" is that first and foremost, for us, this is a STORY. we are watching a story (and also a fun game and funny people doing funnies together, but for election purposes we'll say that)

therefore our goal should not be "which candidate has the best policies" or "which candidate is best for the island". we don't CARE. that's not our business.

we don't care what's good for the islanders. THAT'S NOT OUR BUSINESS. we're not islanders nor are we players. we are the guy in the bar watching the Truman show. our business is "what story do we want to see?"

each candidate offers something different.

(note: i don't claim to understand their platforms, for personal reasons i haven't followed it closely bc i kinda suspected there was gonna be drama and didn't feel like stressing myself over minecraft politics; my local elections freak me out enough lol)

for a rough example:

elquackity: obvious federation plant, clear enemy for the rest of the server. man-vs-government arc.

forever: did you like cellbit's infiltration arc? i could predict something like that following in forever's footsteps (forever sneaks around the federation, learns a few secrets, continues to make his changes to the server but does perhaps experience horrors, most likely a slower burn than cellbit's arc but certainly a lot of espionage and theorycrafting)

those of y'all with a sounder grasp on candidates, sound off in the notes on what we can expect FROM A STORY PERSPECTIVE; i actively ignore the debates (they make me want to cry lmfao). i don't care what their platform is exactly, where will it take the story?

How did you check the blog if you're blocked, aren't the posts supposed to not show up? Seriously curious

the tumblr block feature just makes it so the person blocking someone don't see the person they're blocking's posts and the person who's blocked can't interact with the person blocking them. it also only affects the specific blog you block so like i can still reblog that person's post on any of my other sideblogs just not this one specifically

what the heck! wikipedia blocked my ip address from editing for "disruptive edits" despite the fact that I've never made an edit. Did a little looking I wasn't banned this morning but now "I'm" four months through a one year ban. I'm not allowed to make an account i guess my punishment for going to the store? where someone did something malicious was near is that every time i misclick on Wikipedia it calls me a scoundrel and accuses me of crimes :(

And to whoever started the rumor that tumblr shows reported/blocked anons on your blocklist (don’t you believe them, it does NOT), count your days because that lie is what led me down the long winding path of finding all that other information regarding reporting anons out.
