Warning: Rambly discussion and pictures of inzoi and its AI features!
So this is just a quick experience of the AI system in the Create a Zoi demo: this is just to show what is capable of right now. I personally dont use AI period so I hope they take it out and just let people upload their own textures like in ts3 but with a better UI.
So the demo is limited to creating a zoi and the ai feature is for clothing and accessories. Typing in things like linen, plaid, and stuff resulted in things like towels showing up.
Tumblr media
If you put in more detailed things like "small blue flower pattern"
Tumblr media
You get this or a picture of an actual plant.
If you search "brad pitt" this is what you get:
Tumblr media
So for right now, I'm not seeing the intelligence of this AI however for all that we know the development team made it this way so that art stealing etc is not a thing however it could also just be that this is still in development. Since this game is from Korea they might just have different ideas on what AI should actually be used for and what is ethical and as a person who is primarily living in the US I can't comment on that for them. However, I do believe their upload-a-pattern system is way better than ts3 because you can still do it from in-game and it does not lag. For both options, you can make the texture bigger smaller, and move it around.
Tumblr media
This is showing a pattern that i uploaded from @wanderingsimsfinds to see how it could handle uploading png patterns.
I do think that this game should remove its AI options unless they can guarantee that it will remain ethical with its generative sourcing (highly unlikely since it's hard to control this if they want a big enough pool of data to my understanding?). I am heavily biased since I don't like AI however I thought that showing some of the images produced it would show how limited this AI is and just share my overall opinion on it.
The development team was very open in the sense that pretty much any feature has a chance of getting scrapped including AI so I hope that they listen more to the feedback on other things and just have people settle with uploading their own textures since you can share these items with custom textures to Canva their sharing platform.
I am not sure how the AI for the building works since I just have the demo but from the clips of users using it, it's not worth it yet again.

I decided to have a go at the demo for inZOI, create a zoi! I wanted to see if I could bring my Sims 4 K-Drama Legacy characters to life by creating their realistic counterparts!

inZOI - Madzie & Max Lightwood-Bane (Shadowhunters)
After making Magnus Bane, I decided to make his kids to try out the kids for the demo.
IIRC, the TS4 CAS demo didn't let us make kids (did they even effing HAVE kids as a lifestate back then, or was it just zero toddlers & bassinet babies?). So we're already off to a better start than effing EA.
I'm sad that Krafton didn't let us have access to any sliders to really customize kids in the demo. The presets are ok enough, though some of them look like mini adults or something--the eye bags are too much (at least 3 poor kids looked like they'd been huffing a pack of cigarettes a day since the effing womb).
Kids have no nails & accessories, which is bogus. They get all the adult hats--fedora included--which is...interesting. We need some clips & barrettes & scrunchies etc--real 90s Throwback At Claire's.
Tumblr media
Even TS3 gave kids earrings & bracelets & watches etc, so Krafton needs to step their game up, this is unacceptable that kids barely have EFF ALL.
The kids' clothes are also woefully low--no SKIRTS or DRESSES?! Just one set of PJs for outfits, why? They're all basically the same choices for adults & kids, which is kinda cool but kinda lazy? Give kids their own unique sense of style & identity--Asia has the cutest stuff, come on, don't be generic like this. U_U More kawaii, less Baby Gap. 4/10.
But it made me realize that I like the shoes options on the kids waaaaay more than I do on the adults. The adults need better shoes; that was my least favorite part; TS4's demo had much better shoes.
General
Two things I realized I'd overlooked on the adult zois:
EYES & TEETH: we need to be able to recolor the eye sclera, and the teeth. Both are just way too yellow for my liking, which I noticed as soon as I made Blueberry, and the blue made his eyes & teeth look like he had jaundice.
CUSTOM PATTERNS/TEXTURES: This is so frikkin cool! It's basically a lightweight version of TSRW's Pattern Tool (without the recolorability, sadly); allowing you to directly import DIY textures onto clothes. You can change the tiling & X/Y axis position, it's great!
Tumblr media
I added the constellations & skeleton on Blueberry's tops. We need more GOTH fashion representation, Krafton! \m / (^0^) \m/
One of my favorite features is the hair that you can cut. Max's hair is gorgeous--you can make it really long, or really short. I went with medium-ish. And I LOVE the highlights options, iirc it had like 4 or 5 parts. Again: ALL hairs need AT LEAST the highlight function, if the length feature can't be universally implemented for whatever reason.
Tumblr media
(I'm posting links to this & my first "review" on inZOI's Discord, so hopefully someone over there gets this feedback. I bloody doubt it, but yolo.)

RL and Sims update post + a thank you note
(Warning: long post ahead, read at your own risk).
I wrote this post to thank you guys for all the likes and comments you keep leaving on my posts, even though, as you may have noticed, I can't be here as often as I used to. Real life has taken over almost completely, as I think it should. There are too many things going on, with me, my family, my country, even my sims and other games, lol.
I'm not going to bore you with daily life problems, much less with sad and depressive stuff, or with previews of a story I don't know when/if I'll ever finish, the only thing I can tell you is that I'm still busy with a lot of work, (fortunately) and family stuff; plus, I (finally) started going to therapy (yes, at my age). So right now, I'm juggling even more things than I already was.
And so I wanted to thank you for sticking with me, for continuing to read the chaotic stories of my wacky characters without judging them; thank you as well for each and every message you have sent to my inbox, be it questions, or flowers and love; and to all of you who continue to tag me both on sims stuff and cute games, knowing that I most likely won't be able to answer you, really, thank you for continuing to think of me. Your messages soothe my heart in difficult moments, and I wish to answer them all, I just don't know when I will be able to do that, hopefully someday.
Now, my sims story. For those of you who might remotely still be interested, I'm currently revising the next few episodes of Time Traveler which I wrote earlier this year. To be honest, I don't know when they will be ready, I just know the story goes on and as soon as I have reviewed these episodes, I'll start taking the pictures. When will they be published? Frankly, I don't know. It could be early 2025, but no promises, as I don't have much free time on my hands now. I manage to write in the evenings, but in-game photo shoots are quite time consuming and have to be done in peace and privacy, of which I don't have much at the moment. So, if I do decide to publish these episodes, it will likely be early next year, and at a rather slow pace.
About my gameplay, in Sims 4 we will continue with the Wilsons until the end of the season (coming soon), and then we will take a small break. As for The Sims 3, we just finished Patrick's story in Bridgeport, so now we'll go back with The Cho Brothers. First, we'll take a brief trip to Lucky Palms with Terence and Cynthia Cho; then we'll spend a rather long time in Hidden Springs and Starlight Shores, to see what has happened with Tyron, the eldest of the Cho brothers. And last but not least, we'll go back to Uni with Dale and Kelly, who I hope will FINALLY graduate this year, hahaha.
Anyway, I just wanted you to know that I am not gone (yet), that if one day I decide to retire I will make a special post about it, I won't leave without saying goodbye, but that day seems far away at least for the moment.
Now, regarding Inzoi…
I admit Inzoi has captured my interest. As usual, I'm late to the comment party, but I still want to put my two cents about this amazing game. Seeing the trailers and all those beautiful Inzois created by other simmers got me so excited, and at the same time, terribly frustrated to see that the demo didn't contain any gameplay. I need to actually play the game to give an opinion on it! So far it looks beautiful, though I must say that the character creator disappointed me because the sliders are Sims 4 style, which I've always found a bit complicated, I'll forever prefer the Sims 3 sliders, but hey, I had a lot of fun creating my own Inzois.
Hopefully the graphics and gameplay are as good as seen in the previews and its developers won't “break” it into multiple or turn the into a malfunctioning cash cow like EA did with The Sims 4, and to a certain extent, also with the Sims 3 in its time. I hope with Inzoi they'll go for a complete game, no matter if it's expensive, if I consider it is worth it, I'll give them my money as soon as it comes out.
That being said, it is important for me to clarify that I will not abandon The Sims 3 (or even Sims 4 though I don't play it much) for Inzoi. Ever. Neither do I plan to recreate my sims OCs/games in it, because my sims are exactly that, sims. If I ever get to play Inzoi it will be with entirely new characters, although I confess, I did try to reproduce two of my most beloved sims (a boy from the future and a college girl who is a model *wink*) and they turned out pretty well, but nowhere near as adorable as they look in The Sims 3. Plus, the environments in which those two OCs currently move could not be reproduced in Inzoi, at least as far as I know.
Okay, enough of Inzoi. In short: I'm not gone, I'm still here, I'm still reading all your stories, only at a much slower pace, two or 3 simblrs per day at the most. I'm going to read them all, just bear with me, and forgive me again if I don't always comment. Sometimes I don't even have the time or the energy for that. Believe me, 2024 has been an intense year in every possible way, sometimes I really need a break, but I try to be around and will always find a way to keep in touch, even if at times it seems like I'm nowhere to be found, I'll get back to you at some point.
That's all, thanks for reading this far! Have a nice and beautiful start of the week. 💗
P.S. I wrote this post three days ago, wish I had published it earlier, that way I probably wouldn't have gotten a notification that some Simblrs Community 'removed my membership'. When I clicked in said Simblrs Community icon, it said the community was 'private'. I don't know if that's some kind of automatic Tumblr thing, if there's a committee that decides about this, or if it was just a glitch in the matrix; whatever it was, I'm so sorry I wasn't able to be here to keep said membership. I didn't even know Simblr was a private membership. For what it's worth, it wasn't neglect or lack of interest for my part, just lack of time. I hope one day to be able to qualify again and be worthy of this membership. At any rate, I thank you for thinking of me and admitting me in your community in the first place.

inZOI looks promising
I have watched a review video by RachelPedd, talking about Zoi character creation. Here are my personal highlights: pros
Sims 4-like sliders, just pull the region you want to change
color wheels for clothes and makeup!
different recolorable areas, glossiness slider on certain types of makeup
opacity slider for makeup
sliders for iris and pupil size, color and brightness for eye, separately recolorable outer rim of iris
clothes can be layered (jacket over a dress, or a shirt...)
clothes can be individually changed (change collars, style of sleeves, hem length on a shirt, etc)
character are trait-based, but with general traits likeopenness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism, which I think is excellent! You can pick one trait from each of these categories. These traits unlock at different life stages, some earlier, some only when becoming a young adult, which is interesting.
male/female ZOI's seem to have a height difference
a lot of clothes are for both for male and female bodies
in addition to regular animation, you can enable different fixed poses in character creation
cons:
you can only create adult ZOIs in character creation, life stages younger than young adult are only accessible through gameplay
there is a pattern system, but only AI-based (AI images are very hit-and-miss)
limited hairstyles, especially textured/curly hair is lacking at this point
No color wheel for skintones
limited body weight sliders, face and neck stay too slim
But this game is still in development and will change a lot, and Krafton has said they are very much looking for feedback to improve what they have! So I just went and added something to their wishlist.
If you want to be able to have human-made recolorable patterns and load in your own patterns too, please visit the😸 inZOI discord 😸 and upvote my suggestion with the title "Non-AI patterns/textures and user-imported images". Thank you!

In Other News: InZoi, Tiny Glade and More
Welcome to another session of In Other News, a roundup of what has been going on with games you may enjoy if you play The Sims.
Here’s what you should know today and the games you should be paying attention to.
InZoi
These are going to be very interesting days for those looking forward to learning more about the upcoming life simulator by Korean developer Krafton. InZoi is confirmed to be presented during next week’s Gamescom—an important conference for the gaming industry held in Germany—and attendees will get to play the game. This Saturday, on August 17th, several content creators will also share their first impressions of the game after receiving an early copy. And last but not least, Krafton announced the release on Steam of InZoi: Character Studio, a free demo of their character creation tools. It will only be available for five days, from August 21st until the 26th, but all our creations will be saved for future use. Oh, and speaking of Steam, you can finally wishlist InZoi. The release date, however, is still unknown.
Tumblr media
Paralives
The much-anticipated indie life simulator continues to share details about its development process. They just released a blog post about sound design, which also gives us a glimpse of what a neighborhood looks like (notice how close the houses are to each other? *Chef’s kiss*). They have also shared how the Paras’ aging process looks like.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tiny Glade
The wholesome castle builder has a release date: September 23rd. Their free demo is also available again for download on Steam, and you can wishlist the game on that very same link.
Planet Coaster 2
And while we’re talking about wishlisting games, the upcoming Frontier park builder and management simulator can also be wishlisted on a variety of platforms. Planet Coaster 2 will also be availble to be played for the first time on Gamescom next week, so we’ll probably start reading reviews soon.

inzoi demo review from someone who fully expected to be an inzoi hater:
tl;dr overwhelmingly positive experience with one negative so bad it broke the game for me
Positives
this one might not be helpful because it will depend on your pc but i own a gaming laptop that is four years old? maybe? expected to get the video card error, but it downloaded and installed easily. the edges are definitely crispy and the cut scenes do not cut scene for me, but i was able to download the demo and play it without too much headache. (this is the first hurdle i assumed i would not be able to pass)
the models are truly beautiful and i have seen people playing with the face capture and i actually think it looks good.
color wheels are easy to use and don't bring your computer to a stuttering halt like sims 3. generally found editing and changing colors to be an easy process with instant results.
do like the presets. i think they have a fun range of presets to choose from. however, presets will continue in the next section.
the face editor is amazing and fun. i had read people's reactions before hand and wasn't sure how much push and pull i would have. for the most part, making average characters, i found it to be easy to edit the face, and i did not yet feel the limitations.
the photo mode is really fun and i can't wait to see what else can be added to it. some controls are not as intuitive as i want them to be but i might be simspilled so i don't want to count that against them.
gender doesn't look too in depth but i was happy to see the men were not blocked from "feminine" hairs and girly clothes. i did a male zoi first and was pleasantly surprised by the selection. then i did a female zoi and that will continue in the next section.
skin tone customization more in depth than i suspected. you can pretty much have any color as your skin tone and it defaults to some pretty dark tones. is it perfect? i don't think so, but neither is any other life sim on the market.
personally when i start a new save i want to be playing the game as quickly as possible. sometimes create a sim can take hoooourrrss and i already want to be in the world. was very much worried the would be the case with create a zoi but i actually found it to be a relatively easy process and i think if the game was fully open i could start playing with a character of my dream without being too bogged down.
the personalities!! i almost forgot to include this. i had read you only have one personality trait and it was based on bs personality tests and found myself unsure BUT ACTUALLY i really like the dimensionality, it seems like the personality will have effect on gameplay (i don't have the screenshot i took but they do affect need growth and how connections are built) and i think it's a well done system that simplifies without sacrificing too much. in actual gameplay? we'll see. but so far so good.
overall the first half of my experience was very good and i was starting to fall under the spell. however......
Negatives
cut scenes and frame rate are definitely suffering with my laptop. i don't know how well the full game will play. again, this is case by case, so despite how easy it was to download, unsure how easy it will be to play the full game.
the ui is cluttered i gotta say it. i have a really large laptop screen and i found it getting in my way. i could not figure out a way to make the left side of the screen fold up so i could focus on editing my zoi. i felt like i had to be extremely zoomed in to play with the features and half my character's face was taken up by ui.
male zoi option vs female zoi. i said i was pleasantly surprised by the male options. then i went to the female zoi and realized she had twice as many options. not overwhelmingly negative, as it's often true of any dress up game, but i have two concerns: 1) that means the clothes are gender locked, they just made two sets to fit the different frames and 2) gender options are extremely limited. you get one female frame and one male, and we will discus the body frames in just a moment i'm working up to it.
clothing is somewhat limited. don't get me wrong, there are a ton of cool customization options where you can change the shirt and pant length, but the clothing has one specific style that, while cool, does not offer a lot of variety. again, demo, this is an easy fix, and you could say the same for any base game life sim.
hairs did feel limited, especially any textured hair.
the big one. the reason i probably won't buy this game. (that is a personal statement, not a moral one.) the body sliders are simpler than sims 4. full stop. sorry the body editing is extremely simple and has so few range and options. muscle mass and body weight are not actually elements to the zoi, and i suspect weight gain will not be a feature in the main game. it seems as tho the game has limited "frames" from which to build bodies. the waistlines are not editable. the weight really isn't either, it actually pulls the body sliders to their full edges, meaning if i want a fat body that is a different shape, good fucking luck my dude. attempted different body shapes for my female zoi and came up short every time. i suspect also, judging from what i've read other people say, that the face presets are more limited than they want you to believe as well, as it seems even the face details are decided by the preset you choose and have limited versatility past that. thanks to lack of separate face detail presets, meaning there is no nose category, or lips, you are really reliant on the original body you pick looking close to your final vision. this gives a lack of player freedom and creativity i find startling. now, i have not pushed the limits of this, and face details i was happy with how editable they were... until i got to the body and started to figure out its limitations.
this is a personal issue based on the way i play, but the clothes are generally also really baggy, so it can be difficult to tell what kind of body shape i am getting with my presets. in general i remove all make up and clothing from a sim when i start to edit them, which is harder to do with the zoi, so i found myself frustrated working through the presets.
to call this final point a negative is a little unfair to the game but it's part of my experience: i was high playing with the face editors and their doll eyes did start to scare me and i had to cover part of the screen. i do think the models look surprisingly good and their expressions actually for the most part look really nice, but after staring at them too long and realizing the limitations, they definitely started to feel uncanny valley.
i think this game is a lot more limited than it advertises itself as. i know it's a demo i know it's an old build i know i know i know i think this is a good indicator of what base game caz is going to look like and i think there are major concerns being raised. i think the people who are primed to like this game will be fully satisfied with the product, but those of us on the fence, i don't know. i feel like in a short play session i started to strip away what i actually enjoyed and became more and more disappointed, but i'm also going to play with it more while i can. so, yes, my volley of emotions from inzoi skeptic to believer to the pedestal being knocked out from underneath it has been an interesting experience.

I’m desperately waiting for a sims competitor bc i cannot take the lackluster crap EA keeps putting out and charging $40 for. Plus i am tired of 90% of the sims community being shills and not even actually reviewing the packs in their “review” videos like. We get it, you’re getting payed! I’m holding out for paralives. Inzoi is giving “you can create a character but like not a black one” so i kinda don’t wanna play it.

A screenshot of a Steam review of Inzoi. Above the actual review, it reads:
This game will steal your data, they also use AI image generation for their shitty posters and other features
Steam review by user double barrel daryl:
Not Recommended gpp.krafton (dot) io/legal/1942dfaf-5da-4028-b55c-5f4e38d1a49
Here is the link to the legal document you are accepting, since there are many different Inzoi Privacy Policy websites that get more priority than the real one, and this link is inaccessible in-game. Mind you "bad company" EA has their Privacy Policy both in launcher and in-game. Also closing the game when at the policy screen auto-accepts it next time you open the game. I had to make a whole new Steam profile in order to document that link. Bug, or feature - I don't think this is legal man. Quote from the Privacy Policy:
Retaining and Deleting Personal Information "we retain your personal information even after you closed your account with us [...] if retention of your personal information is reasonably neccessary to to comply with our legal obligations, meet regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, chaeting or abuse, or enforce this Policy or any other agreement we have with a player."
End of Quote
What reason do they have to keeping my information forever using competitive multiplayer issues with cheating and piracy when I'm doing a single-player playtest demo of their character creator?
Quote form the Privacy Policy
What Information Do We Collect Identifiers such as SteamID64, email address, password, date of birth, nickname, name, IP address, postal address, phone number, date of birth, country of residence, language, nationality, etc.;
End of Quote
That information is terrifying when matched with the facial scan. Best believe I exercised my rights to access and deletion.

Ummm... I thought you guys should probably see this...
I'm really glad I didn't decide to download that character creator demo, even though it was free.
