#inuyasha 犬夜叉: the final act

I’m surprised that not a lot of Inuyasha fans talk about this specific screenshot of Inuyasha in the Final Act.

I can’t even imagine the emotions that must be going through his head at this moment. To have been separated from the love of your life for 3 years, never knowing if she’d return. To go to the well every 3 days in hopes that she might come back, but meeting an empty well every time. Every day, a little more hope is lost until one day…. one day he finally senses her presence.

You can only imagine how nervous and anxious Inuyasha must be feeling. Seeing the sweat on his face, the look in his eyes, it says it all. He has been waiting so long for this opportunity, to the point he didn’t know whether it would actually happen or not. For it to now be happening right before his eyes, he’s in a state of shock, disbelief, anxiousness, and excitement. I would give to hear all the thoughts going inside his head at this moment.

The reunion of Inuyasha and Kagome is by far one of my favorite moments in anime history.

Inuyasha: The Half-Demon's Quest

Inuyasha (犬夜叉) is a Japanese manga series created by Rumiko Takahashi. Running from 1996 to 2008, this epic saga blends fantasy, action, and romance with a darker tone than Takahashi's previous works. The story begins with Kagome Higurashi, a modern-day high schooler who falls into a well and is transported to Japan's Sengoku period. There, she meets Inuyasha, a half-demon who was betrayed and pinned to a tree by his lover, Kikyo, a priestess who guarded the Shikon Jewel.

When Kagome accidentally shatters the Shikon Jewel, its shards scatter across Japan, sparking a quest to recover them. Alongside Inuyasha, Kagome is joined by a diverse group: the lecherous monk Miroku, the fierce demon slayer Sango, and the mischievous fox demon Shippō. They face numerous battles against the malevolent half-demon Naraku, who seeks to manipulate them all.

Inuyasha was adapted into two anime series by Sunrise. The original series aired from 2000 to 2004, followed by Inuyasha: The Final Act, which covered the remaining story from 2009 to 2010. The franchise also includes four films, OVAs, video games, and a sequel series, Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon (2020-2022). The manga has sold over 50 million copies worldwide and won the 47th Shogakukan Manga Award.

For North American fans, Viz Media has been the go-to for both the manga and anime, with the series airing on Adult Swim and later Toonami. Despite its lengthy run and complex plot, the love story between Kagome and Inuyasha, alongside their battle against Naraku, remains a timeless and cherished narrative in the world of anime and manga.

Similarities between two of my favorite tough guy turned softie male characters of cartoons and anime: Goliath and Inuyasha

1. The both are hundred of years old due to their creature/demon blood.

2. Both have a former lover from their past who comes back to their present, and bring heart-wrenching turmoil with them. Ultimately, they do not get together again due to too many conflicting feelings concerning their pasts.

3. Both have a human girl who they have grown to love over the course of the series. They didn’t think they were capable of any kind of love again after having gone through betrayals of sorts. Their human girlfriends helped show what it means to be accepted and loved for who they are.

4. Both have means of time travel between the past and the present.

For Goliath, it is the Phoenix Gate.

For Inuyasha, it is the Bone Eater’s Well.

5. Both have a daughter who is just like them.
