Kikyou is a very complex character and difficult to understand. The way Sunrise portrayed her is just plain wrong. They hate her and Kikyou still struggles with hatred, even in the non-canon Yashahime manga. Her character was reduced to just an "ex" and in fact Kikyou was more than just an "ex". She's been dealing with the hate ever since. Anime Kikyou helps her hate. It's easy to hate a character who is so cold, doesn't care and seems to care about something else, just cold because that's how she was supposed to be. Principal Inuyasha didn't hate her, he said he "didn't understand her and should stay dead" He made her cold and emotionless, but that's how she was supposed to be. My criticism of Kikyou in the anime doesn't mean I don't love her. I love her with all my heart, but I don't like what was done to her and how she was presented. She has been changed the most and very drastically. Inuyasha always looks like he doesn't love her but always looks at her compassionately, and she acts like Inuyasha's love doesn't matter anymore. Her scenes with Inuyasha were erased and changed, her personality was changed. I don't care if anyone likes Kikyou in the manga and anime. I express what I feel. Just like Kagome fans keep complaining that 'Kagome was changed' but the changes Kagome had are nothing like what happened to Kikyou. Kikyou, at the end of the episode, was presented as a rival who takes the main character and hurts poor Kagome. This sunrise subconsciously made Kagome feel like the wronged one and she should be pitied, while Kikyou should be hated. Sunrise made it clear that Inuyasha and Kikyou's love is in the past and they no longer love each other, especially Kikyou since she doesn't love him. They make it clear that Kagome is the only right partner for him and InuKik is a thing of the past. Kikyou's true personality has been erased, InuKik's love has been erased. It's Kikyou who needs justice. It was the Kikyou anime that made me love Kikyou so much, the Kikyou manga only strengthened my feelings and my love for InuKik.

Sunrise always favored Kagome . In the manga they didn't kiss, but in the anime Inukag got a kiss. I believe this is the most solid evidence that Sunrise favors Kagome and this ship. Kagome's favoritism and hatred towards Kikyou is very evident in this series and it can really be appreciated by reading the original source - manga.

yashahime continues to hate her. this is just sad. Kikyou didn't deserve this fate.

I wouldn't say I don't care anymore, I just haven't been inspired by them in a while, but definitely Inu/Kag. They were not my first ship, but they were the first ship I wrote for.

Zutara, forever and ever. Usa/Mamo (now that I've seen the original Japanese version), Inu/Kag

9. Is there any couple, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together?

Zutara. They are my only OTP that isn't canon, but they should have been. Hayley and Andy from Modern Family is next. I'm honestly not happy at how they handled Hayley's arc in general. The writers were so cruel to her! I'm still not over it, and I'm mulling over a fix-it fic for her (one-shot probably). Ichabbie (Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills) are in third place, but a very distant third. I lost all respect for Sleepy Hollow after how they treated both Abbie the character and Nichole Beharie the actress.

10. Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting?

...no. Not really. I mean, I guess you could count CaptainSwan from OUAT, but that's less I didn't like the ship and more I wanted to get rid of Emma so EYE could have Hook.

11. Do you have any ship that, in the past, was considered normal but now would be canceled over?

I mean...probably? I can't think of any right now. I only have a handful of ships that I care enough about to talk about, and most of them don't appear on my blog, so...🤷🏾‍♀️

12. What was your favorite crack ship?

Mai/Aang (or Flying Dagger as I call them). I don't even really consider this a crack ship. Don't get me wrong, I see them being a disaster together, but not in a cracky sort of way. More of a reality show couple way.

13. Who is the couple you read more fanfics of?

Zutara these days. It used to be more of an even split between my top 3 ships, but the fact that I get around to reading anything these days feels like an accomplishment.

14. What do most of your ships usually have in common?

Powerful women and the powerful men who would die protecting them. Also, powerful women and the powerful men who are their biggest cheerleaders

15. What do you absolutely hate in a ship?

I mean...pick a trait from Kataang, and that's pretty much it. Hero gets the girl because he's the hero; the woman becomes the supportive background partner no matter how powerful and ambitious she was before she got with him; Man can't control his violent outburst without his partner's help. Kataang is the embodiment of everything I hate in a ship.

🔸Favorite OC: My poor freckled daughter with self-esteem issues whose life I love to mess up with memory issues and vampiric apocalypses, Furukawa Chie (Hakuouki OC) and her mischievous Shiba Inu stray dog, Yokai.

🔸First OC: April Saito (Digimon OC), who I created when I was only 10 years old! April will grow up to become a Digimon rights activist, so I thought it'd be fun to draw her protesting with a "✅Yes to Digital Intelligence / ❌No to Artificial Intelligence" sign along with Gigimon, who has a matching anti-AI bandana.

🔸Fans' Favorite OC: Rice Ritz, head of the "Kame Warriors" (my troop of Time Patroller OCs from Dragon Ball Xenoverse), who used to be wildly popular back in 2018 when we ran amazing "OC vs OC" tournaments on DeviantArt.

🔸Easiest to Draw OC: Furukawa Kohana (Hakuouki OC), which caused my sister to go "What do you mean Kohana is the easiest one for you to draw?!". 😂 Maiko/Geiko are one of my special interests, so she's one of the few OCs I can draw from memory without having to consult a character sheet, lol.

🔸Hardest to Draw OC: Tani Sanjuro (Hakuouki OC), the arrogant yet skillful captain of the 7th Division of the Shinsengumi that both me and my fic's readers love to hate… and who has features as difficult to draw as his whole wardrobe!

Wait, Toga and Iliana met in the Kamakura period, So that means he has already fought with the Mongols and Chinese Youkais. And not wanting to take trashahime into consideration but does that mean Kirinmaru and his sister might appear!?

And if the answer is yes, how?

I haven’t watched past episode 6 of Trashahime because ☠️☠️☠️ yikes, so I don’t really know the whole thing with Toga and Kirinmaru, lol. I still need to redesign him so he isn’t Dollar Store Takemaru, but… I mean, it’s a possibility???

He could be one of the more powerful demons that try to abduct Iliana to use her against Toga.

In the third InuYasha movie (technically not canon but shut up), we learn that InuYasha's father named him.

InuYasha, literally means 'half dog.'

WAY TO BE CREATIVE, TOGA!!

I like to think when Sesshomaru was born, Toga was going to name him something like 'full dog' but Inukimi put her foot down and named her son 'destroyer of worlds', I.E, Sesshomaru.

Just a fun thought.

I don’t know anything about Mahiruma, except for what I’ve read in episode reviews. I didn’t watch a single episode of Yashahime. Watching that show was dependent on who the mom was going to be. I knew Rumiko wasn’t behind the story and I’ve seen how people, that aren’t the original creator, don’t do a good job at creating a story for the franchise.

The most I know about him, is that it felt unnecessary to create this character for only 2 episodes. So I’ve decided that I want it to be that everyone can see Akuru, but no one can understand him, except for the other Gods. My idea is to make Mahiruma and Akuru parallels to InuYasha and Shippo, as well as, Sesshomaru and Rin. Were it is a Father and Child and/or an Older and Younger Sibling relationship.

Anime-InuKag lowkey retraumatized me

DISCLAIMER: This is not an anti-InuKag post and this is only about the Sunrise adaptation of Inu Yasha. Fans like @inukag have pointed out again and again that the anime made changes that increased the love-v drama and negatively impacted the love story/relationship between Inu Yasha and Kagome. So what I'm saying about anime-InuKag probably doesn't apply to their manga version.

This post mainly serves to explain my experience of the anime as an abuse survivor.

If you want to use this post as an opportunity to point out the differences betweeen anime and manga, feel free to do so. Maybe that'll help disperse the fear I have of reading Inu Yasha and getting retraumatized once again.

CWs: emotional neglect, familial abuse (verbal, emotional, physical), domestic violence, (childhood/complex) trauma and PTSD.

Growing up my brother and I experienced emotional neglect by our parents and verbal&physical abuse by our father. I learned that if I was "being a nuisance" or if my father was tense, angry and/or screaming, I was likely to be spanked and experience pain. I developed CPTSD and anxiety over the years and a desperate/anxious desire to please others, especially men/people that presented themselves or I saw as superior to me. My brother was traumatized by that as well but he also mimicked our dad's behavior so he would be like that to me (and our mom but without the physical violence) whenever I annoyed him or he was agitated. And even if none of the two became physically violent, they would regularly be verbally abusive and cause emotional hurt.

The strategies I developed were making myself small -literally and figuratively-, ignoring my feelings, needs and emotional hurt, and pleasing those who were a threat to me.

What does this have to do with anime-InuKag?

A lot of the time, InuKag are just bickering like the teenagers they are, being mean, behaving unhealthily towards each other but they haven't yet learned to control their emotions and communicate in healthy ways. Which is normal and okay.

But then there are situations where Inu Yasha leaves Kagome behind or seems to choose Kikyo over her. Kagome feels hurt and this hurt only piles up the more Inu Yasha does this (which is said to happen more often in the anime than the manga) and Kagome puts her own hurt, feelings and needs on the back burner to have and show compassion for Inu Yasha.

Inu Yasha sometimes doesn't realize he hurt her because Kagome hides or doesn't express it and since he grew up in an unempathetic environment just trying to survive, he doesn't really know what's up or what he can do about it.

But in the anime, there are several times (IIRC more halfway through the show) where Inu Yasha sees he's hurt Kagome and all he does is look at her with a sad expression. But he doesn't seem intent to change to stop hurting her.

So, Kagome shows a behavior resembling the appeasing strategy of abuse survivors and due to my trauma, I see her behavior as such, get triggered and experience distress. And fear that Kagome -like myself- will experience even more hurt. Abusers can seem (or be) sorry that they hurt you but they are unlikely to change their behavior to stop harming you.

When I watched the anime, I shipped InuKag - but it was out of necessity. I hoped that Inu Yasha would stop hurting Kagome if they finally got together. And that I would stop feeling anxious and hurt. While I was watching, I never realized what exactly I was experiencing but in the last few years, I've been putting off reading the manga because I was scared. Only recently did I find out why: Over the course of its run, the anime had retraumatized me in regards to my abuse trauma and I was scared I would get retraumatized, experience PTSD or at least get triggered again if I read the manga.

And don't get me started on cold-hearted, condescending (revived-)Kikyo that triggered my feelings of inferiority caused by abuse with her attitude towards Kagome...

(I decided to write this post after I got triggered by an analysis defending InuKag's bickering and jealousy towards each other. InuKag are not as wholesome to me as they are to others and I hope this made you understand why.)

(I'm not calling Inu Yasha abusive though, neither in anime nor manga!)

kagome humiliated him just like that with a smile on her face. She doesn't treat him as the person he is, but as a dog who is subordinate to her and will punish him whenever she wants. There were moments when Higurashi took advantage of his dog nature and showed that he wasn't her equal. yashahime just continues what was in the original. Higurashi will never treat him as an equal, she will always make him feel that she has power over him and keeps him on a leash.

He will never give her the same affection as Kikyou, which shows because she has to beg him for attention and romantic moment. He would never love her like he loved Kikyou.

it's just really sad that inuyasha has to live in this marriage and live with this person. It's sad what she does with him. He really didn't deserve it. She has more respect for Sesshomaru than she does for her husband, it's absurd.

Inuyasha has a dog nature. It's normal that he's a half-dog demon, but that doesn't mean he should be humiliated. He is a person and is entitled to respect which he doesn't receive.

He respects people, respects his friends, cares for them and ensures their comfort, supports them when they need it, which cannot be said about them. Always feeling guilty and complaining about how he is the 'worst' because he should favor Kagome and leave Kikyou alone because it hurts this toxic woman. They never gave him any support, ever. Always on Kagome's side, as if she was some 'goddess' who cannot be harmed and Inuyasha only has to look at her. Zero understanding for his situation where I would have expected some empathy from Sango since her situation was similar to InuKik's. Kaede was just like them. She pushed him into the hands of his tormentor.

I can't call this higurashi worship circle 'friends of inuyasha' because they never were and aren't his friends and never will be.

Kagome always hid her toxic behavior under a gloss of 'kindness and support', she hated Kikyou more than anything in the world and wanted her to disappear until the very end. Always making herself a victim when InuKik had his moment, excessive use of 'sit', treating him unequally and occasionally showing that he is a dog. Rumiko literally made Higurashi the belly button of this series. She even focused Inuyasha's pain over the loss of Kikyou on Kagome. Kagome, who throughout the series considered her an enemy and rival, never grew out of this hatred and hates the very fact that Inuyasha loves her and loves her more than ever. She played with guys' feelings to get Inuyasha to pay attention to her. She hates the fact that he is the reincarnation of Kikyou. In her marriage, she is still jealous of Kikyou, even though her wish came true. She abuses her power over him and didn't take off his beads and uses them whenever she wants for fun, jealousy of Kikyou and more. She doesn't have to have a reason to use it, she uses it with joy on her face, making him understand that she has power over him and will always be over him, thus begging him for attention and love. Kagome never really helped with his pain, on the contrary, she added more to it. She was the one who was hurt here, so he should move on with her feelings, putting aside his own tragedy, he should deal with the shallow feelings of a teenager who never matured into the role of a wife and mother.

Inuyasha has no help from anywhere nor does he understand that what is happening is wrong. He is stuck in a relationship with an abusive person and his abuser. She has the soul of Kikyou in her. If he can have Kikyou like this then fine by him.

It's true that higurashi is a torturer and inuyasha is its victim.

This is just sad. Inuyasha didn't deserve such 'friends', a wife, he just didn't. He deserved much better. It's really sad.

She gave birth at 18 she was older than sango when sango got married, pregnant and gave birth to her kids I can't remember how old sango was I think it was 16-17. Bruh rin was 18 a legal gtown ass adult by American standards and given how young back then they would get married I'm proud of rin, I'm proud of sango too even if she's a bit young it was the norm for back then and at least she ain't to young.
