The first friend Amy made after returning to Vinethorn Grove, Zach Taylors is a goth teenager ran away from home to escape his abusive stepfather who lives in a neighbouring town, so now Zach secretly lives in an abandoned cabin he found near the woods - he may be homeless, but according to himself, he has never felt more free, or more safe. He and Amy were an instantly match made in chaos heaven, having been friends ever since they bumped into each other on the chilly autumn evening of the day she'd moved back into town. A certified troublemaker, Zach is still a gentleman and possibly the kindestkid in town, despite his kooky and eccentric personality. He loves alternative music, often ones matching with his improvised grunge/goth style, and can often be found either skateboarding around town or reading books - which he steals from the local library - on the outskirts of the woods, near the lake. Amy's brother, Dylan, is a bit wary of him, worried that he may be trouble and sometimes considering him 'too much', but also partially because Zach's sarcastic wit and rebellious tendencies clash with Dylan's more serious outlook, and so they don't always see eye to eye. As their paranormal investigation progresses, Zach slowly starts to become part of the Millihan's family, and finds that he may just not be quite as lonely as he once was anymore, much to his relief and confusion.

I was just hit by this realization like an absolute freight train — like I said in the tags, I deluded myself into believing I was an ISFJ for a while. And then an INFJ. Then flip-flopping between INTP and ENTP. And finally I decided on ambiverted INTP because I didn’t want to be an introvert.

I also genuinely believed that I was an enneagram 7w8.

I believed I was a social butterfly, an adventurer, a spontaneous and free-spirited happy-go-lucky adrenaline junkie. and I acted the part for a while. people liked that act, so I kept it up.

and then, I realized that I’m actually an enneagram 5. I’m level, guarded, intellectual, particular, peculiar, and I like my alone time.

and now, having taken the MBTI for the first time in 6+ years, I now realize I’m an INTJ. because of course I am.

the only reason I had the knee-jerk reaction “oh, that’s what’s wrong with me!!” is bc I’d been treating myself like something I’m not.

of course I don’t act like a 7w8 ambiverted INTP! I’m an introverted 5w6 INTJ.

it’s like realizing that I’ve been putting my shade-loving plant in the direct sunlight and wondering why it’s all brown and crinkly. I need to treat myself like what I am, not get mad at myself for reacting badly to stimuli which goes against everything with which I’m comfortable.

imo you actually have a pretty strong case for being a 7 (although I can't type you as a 7 and a 5 simultaneously - even in the same tritype). I know that you yourself relate or type a lot more often as a 5 - so if anything you should trust yourself more than this typing. I just hope this gives some input rather than confusion.

consider if you actually relate to any enneagram 5 trait structures. I'll link one here if you want to check it out. many entp's or intp's will see themselves as being an enneagram 5, since it's associated with logic or ration, when being an enneagram 7 is still in the head tritype. (figuring out mistypes is in the name 😎)

for one, you often repeat that your desire is to live a life of happiness. you fear not having a fulfilling life, and ending up on the deathbed regretting what you had done. while you do express some 5 traits (wanting to be seen as capable, processing emotions alone), your 7 traits stand out much more.

even outside of the 7 archetype of wanting a fun life, you describe rationalizing your emotions, which is essentially the way a 7 deals with their internal process. when it comes to anger, you "question things more" and "try to come to a sort of conclusion." when you don't, it makes you further frustrated (7 working with 8). the 8 wing is even more present, with the questions about dealing with anger pretty outwardly and quickly.

honestly, I think this quote from yourself describes it pretty well

"I make sense of emotions when alone (why I feel this way, when did I start feeling this way, and that’s how I get to the root of them)"

alternatively, I can see where you might be a 5. however, if you are, then you must be a social 5, which could explain some of the mixed traits you have in your questionnaire (and some of your 7 traits).

I ended up settling on the social 5 subtype, as they somewhat also tend to rationalize emotions. the only real difference I see between a social 5 and yourself is that you don't seem to distance yourself as much from others. in the trait structure of social 5's, they have a sense of "restrained greed."

here's a description by beatrice chestnut I thought you should look at if you wanted to figure out a social 5 within yourself:

"If this is your subtype, you always try to be and look smart and knowledgeable, but that doesn’t bring you true wisdom or joy. Nor is it a humble way of life. You may treat some people differently from others, according to whether or not you view them as members of your “special group.” Notice if you tend to be warmer and more available to people who have the same level of interest and expertise in your preferred subject or cause—and colder and less attentive to people who don’t. You may prioritize causes and the search for knowledge and meaning above individuals out of an unconscious fear of meaninglessness, but this keeps you disconnected from people and unable to truly care about them. Your tendency to bypass emotional development in favor of purely intellectual engagement may mean you think you are more conscious than you actually are."

finding yourself stuck in decision or analysis paralysis often is likely some extroverted function in your stack that you are avoiding, or not developing as much as your other functions. while many intp's experience analysis paralysis, what made me type you as an entp over an intp was mostly your intentions.

to me, this not as much "analysis paralysis" as it is considering all the outcomes. I think you also said it somewhere yourself in your post that you often find it hard to make decisions, as there are "many options to consider."

the idea that ne doms are crazy over change and are completely open to it is just another stereotype. you pretty much seem to have a healthy relationship with it. maybe you aren't as "impulsive" as many entp's would be, but you use your ne to a reasonable extent - which is really just your ti doing it's auxiliary job.

also, you are pretty open to changing your mind (again, to reasonable extent). it's both an intp and entp trait due to their ti, but from what you explain, it seems that you take information in before you let it affect your framework of thought.

you don't seem to approach situations directly with this framework (ti). instead, it seems that you are intially receptive (extroverted function), and then that filters into your structure of thought (introverted function) - rather than the other way around.

Sousou no Frieren typology

Frieren - INTP 5w6 sp/so Double Bird

The conflict between her and Serie is basically Ti-Te clash. Her way of approaching a magic is also very typical of Ti-user. To her, magic is about studying and discovery. A Te-user wouldn't see it that way. Look at Serie and Fern, magic is fun and they both love magic. But they still focus more on utility than just the understanding.

The story is about Frieren developing Fe-inferior. Learning to connect to people, to put herself in other people's shoes, to uphold values of people who she holds dear (Himmel, Hero's Party and Fern). She became more emotionally open as the series progress (look at her expression in ep 1 and ep 28, it's night and day).

Fern - ISTJ 1w9 sp/so Lion-Bird

An adorable prude who's very pragmatic and efficient. Her fighting style sums up strong Te-user approaches to fighting. Using the most effective mean to fight. It doesn't look fancy but it's pure brutal efficiency.

I do practice martial arts and my approach is similar to Fern. She only uses 2 spells - barrier and Zoltraak (basic offensive magic). It's similar to my approach to martial arts. Just master the basic and knock people out fast. You don't need anything fancy, really. The basic is usually more than enough, if you master it.

Stark - ESFP 6w7 so/sp Badger-Lion

Adorable labrador. Nothing to elaborate, he is the easiest to type.

Himmel - ENFJ 2w3 so/sp Double Badger

This is the man. A role model for me.

Eisen - ISTP 6w5 sp/so Double Badger

He is a little hard to type, but we see consistently throughout the series and manga that he is a head type. Fear is his driving force and he is an attachment type, so 6-core.

Heiter - ENTP 7w6 so/sp Lion-Snake

Sly old fox. He grows up becoming a dependable and upright old man (with a touch of playfulness) showing healthy line of 7-1. But he never lost his playfulness and inner brat.

Serie - ENTJ 8w9 sp/so Lion-Bird

Serie is the epitome of Te-dom. Her mindset is pure utilitarian. Magic is a tool for killing. She loves magic and advancement in magic study is all she wants. However, unlike Frieren, it's not just about understanding but about application. She is pretty hands-off but when need arises, she will get her hands dirty (and loves doing it) showing grittiness of Se-tert and 8. She is pretty withdrawn though owing to her 9-wing.

Flamme - INFJ 6w7 so/sp

Flamme is all about Ni. She knows exactly when and how Frieren will fuck up and plans ahead ... for millenia. She understands Frieren well enough to see where she will go. Flamme shows good usage of balanced Fe-Ti. Fe-Ti are tools to her (unlike Himmel), so she can detach herself more. She understands the culture and mindset of demons and exploits it hard (Fe-Ti working together). Her method is underhanded but pragmatic. She is an obvious head type. Her reasoning and tactics came from the head (analysis) rather than the gut (instinct).

Denken - ESTJ 3w2 sp/so

Denken is a good example of healthy and mature ESTJ and 3w2. He is very pragmatic and strategic but not callous. He is aware of his own standing and isn't afraid to assert himself but also cooperative and levelheaded. We must remember that Denken is an old man at this point. He is an example of a 3w2 integrating to incorporate good aspect of 6w5 (cooperation, genuineness, tactical thinking and a sense of duty).

He used to be stereotypical ESTJ 3 - cutthroat, ambitious to a fault and cold. But the death of his wife and the situation of his hometown shapes him into a wise old man.

Ubel - ESTP 7w8 sp/so

Why do people think she is Ne-dom. She is all about sensory experience in the here and now. That's Se-dom.
