But a monster befriender.

Wanting to be the one and only person they trust with their dark inhuman secret.

Vowing to keep their secret, to be a safe place, to protect them, even hide them if necessary.

To have late night talks with them — about their monster type and all that makes them tick.

Listening to their monster woes, insecurities, and fears, and giving them comfort, support, reassurance, and advice.

Helping them to bridge the gap on their knowledge of humans. Whether its simply curiosity on their part, or to help them better blend in with humanity.

Doing research about their monster species on your own time, to learn as much as you can about them.

To receive monster hugs, platonic kisses, affectionate licks.

Literal sleeping together. Platonic cuddles. Sleepovers.

If they're okay with it, getting a good look at and checking out all their monstrous features.

If you're okay with it, them getting to check out your human features in turn.

Petting and stroking fur, and in return you may get back rubs and playing with your hair.

Them grabbing / scruffing you and carrying you to safety when you get into trouble, whether that means danger or just... you doing something you're really not supposed to.

"It's just...it's feckin' annoying is what it is."

"Grophm," X'orb hummed in agreement.

"It's like when you're havin' a bad day and someone is just smilin' at you and you wanna punch them--"

"ALL THE TIME!" Jim leaned back against the bench's backrest, stealing a glance at the tall, squid-headed creature beside him. "It's good to know even aliens agree-- Americans are weird."

"Well, not all of us." X'orb gestured and the two looked across the bus stop. There, on another bench, sat another human-Ulopin pair, chatting animatedly.

"That guy," X'orb explained, "is from the Fpwin region. I can tell by his accent. They're the Americans of Ulopinuw."

"A feckin' friendly ray of sunshine, eh?"

"The golden retriever of Ulopinuw. Look at him, chatting with an absolute stranger."

"Unbelievable."

"Took us what, three years to say a word to each other?"

Never underestimate learning a 2nd language

No joke, my sister's speaking Spanish, better than I ever could, from traveling internationally. The best I did was speak it while playing Chess. I'm sure my high school Spanish teacher would've been proud. Maybe enough to turn s B- into an A.

For reals, I enhanced languages I learned as s child to sound like an adult. It's s trip when dreaming if you've been trying to get one out on your head.

Short of it all driving me nuts as I go around the city hearing conversations going on left and right. Think that would drive many people batty. It's not like we can choose who we want to hear and mute everything else.

Sorta happy I didn't pick up Russian from s Ukrainian man who loved it that I was athletic and understood Yiddish. That's all before the recent Russia/Ukraine war. The man really wanted me to go to the Ukraine to meet his family and everything.

Young hot Ukrainian who really really liked me as I am. I hope him and his family are doing well.
