I’m not much of a football fan, but this deserves some recognition.
San Marino, FIFA’s lowest ranked team, achieved their first victory in twenty years - and their first competitive victory ever - with a 1-0 win over Liechtenstein.
Nicko Sensoli’s 53rd minute effort was all they needed to secure victory, but it’s a historic win for the infamous minnows.

International Soccer for the Amiga, released in 1993 by Zeppelin Games, could have been a respectable budget alternative to the heavyweights of the Amiga soccer scene. Its clean, minimal visuals and resemblance to Sensible Soccer make it look promising at first glance. Unfortunately, any hope of enjoyment vanishes the moment you start playing, as the gameplay is plagued by controls so dysfunctional they’re borderline torturous.
There is absolutely no precision. Passing feels like wild guesses, and controlling possession is next to impossible. Shooting can be mastered, and there’s a nice satisfaction in scoring with a powerful diagonal shot, but the real problem is that getting to the box can feel impossible at times. The player selection is downright chaotic—you’ll often find yourself unable to switch to the player closest to the ball, leaving you helpless as your opponents crawl up the pitch. Watching them fumble up the field, only to score avoidable goals because your goalkeeper either stands frozen or lets in the slowest shots imaginable, is maddening. It’s less like playing a game and more like being forced to spectate a disaster you can’t stop.
The frustration builds with every missed opportunity. You lose the ball for reasons beyond your control, chances are wasted because the game refuses to cooperate, and every cheap goal from the AI feels like a slap in the face. Even if my scores in the semifinal and final look decent, don’t let them fool you. Start a new game, and the AI can just as easily trash you with the same score—not because it’s challenging or clever, but because of all the flaws mentioned here. The broken controls, awful player selection, and brain-dead goalkeeping will ensure you lose for reasons completely beyond your control.
And that’s what makes it so painful. The graphics are appealing in their simplicity, and the game looks like it could offer something enjoyable. But the broken mechanics ruin any potential it might have had. What could have been a fun, budget-friendly alternative to Sensible Soccer instead becomes an exercise in frustration, pushing you to the edge of rage-quitting.
There’s no satisfaction to be found here—only a constant reminder of what this game could have been if it had a little more polish and functionality.

I fucking love football!
And like I don't get to talk about it.
But isn't it so cool. It's a game that is played all across the world. And its played different depending on where it is and what culture they have around it.
In my country of England we traditionally use long ball strategy. Moving the ball across the pitch with power and distance. We also have an emphasis on set pieces.
The Spanish developed a style called Tiki Taka which involves lots of short quick passes.
The Brazilians pioneered dribbling. And single players using skill to take on defenders and bring the ball forward themselves.
The Dutch invented 'Total Football' which is about fluid motion. Players moving between positions freely and seamless transitions.
I think that Italians traditionally play defensively but I'm not certain. I can't remember.
There's probably more but I'm not a fucking encyclopedia.
But one of the best things about football I think is when teams do all of this. When they play with the influences and innovations from all over the world.
That is when football, I think, earns its nickname of 'the beautiful game'.
(Once again i dont know everything and if anything i said in this post is wrong then like...sorry...but oh well. Its a tumblr post its not a big deal.)
