It’s fascinating how when either Superman or Batman dies in the comics, the other one will react differently.
Cynical realist Batman will turn into Bruce ‘In Denial’ Wayne telling everybody around him that “Superman isn’t dead. It’s not possible. The math is not mathing”. Or he’ll wallow in guilt, regret and self-blame.
While the usually mild-mannered and optimistic Superman will turn into Clark ‘I am Vengeance’ Kent screaming “FUUUUUUUUUCCCCKKKK THIIIIIIIISSSSS WOOOOOOORLDDDDDD!!!”.

so Johnny has canonically committed every crime known to man except for the sexual ones, right? And I know that he always assumed it was just a thing carmilla had built into him. but I like to imagine that he's sex-repulsed ace. this fact has never crossed his mind ever

what i love about kaider is that their relationship began with hope. hope that she'd come with the ball, and he literally asked her multiple times, not because he was entitled, but because he wanted her. hope that she could perhaps go the ball and not have to hide who she is. hope that he would forget her, and that she would be free. hope that, while dancing, he wasn’t disgusted by her touch. hope that he would still touch her even if he knew that she was cyborg. hope that she had found princess selene and that she was with her. hope that she wasn't manipulating him and that his feelings were real. hope that he would never find her and have to place her in jail again. hope that a renowned mechanic and a future emperor could become something together. hope that she could end levana's rule. hope that she would be alive after she was stabbed. hope that they could forge a future together despite being miles apart, despite duty and obligations. hope that she would accept to be his empress, to rule beside him. they chose each other again and again while holding onto hope that they could forge a life together after the revolution.

One thing I weirdly enjoy about witch from Mercury, is how so many of Suletta's enemies try to play mindgames with her, but she is just entirely immune to it on account of her crushing anxiety and thorough brainwashing. It's like:
Villain: I have (doctored) proof that Miorine betrayed your trust.
Suletta (beaming like the sun): That's okay, my mom taught me that if someone you love hurts you, it means they love you; and if you're up late at night crying about it, it means you love them back 😊

the biggest structural flaw with arc v imo is the absolute failure to engage with yuya's professed "make everyone smile" motivation on anything more than a glancing surface level. Ray tells zarc that yuya is the part of him that wants to make people smile, and yuya has that revelation himself in the finale (that zarc wanted to make people smile just like him) but doesn't manage to extract any takeaway from it other than "I guess we weren't so different" or "I guess zarc wasn't all bad" Which Like, Huh? guys, zarc wanting to make people smile was, like, the whole fucking issue. zarc felt pressured to conform to an audience's expectation of him (wanted to make them happy) and it made him hate humanity because what he wanted no longer mattered. It made him do things that disgusted him and it was never enough. He couldn't fill the hole in himself with other people's smiles. yuya is trying desperately to please everybody right up until the credits roll and he's miserable the entire time, he's still that part of zarc that desperately wants approval from others, without even the aspects of zarc that made dueling enjoyable to him (yuri's sadism, yugo's competitiveness, yuto's vindictiveness). I'd go so far as to wager that it's because Yuya is that aspect of zarc that he struggles so much more with zarc's influence compared to the others, BECAUSE HE'S EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME THING. it's not about entertainment or smiling or fun, it's conformity and it's going to break him. and they never address it. EVER.
