The Black Queen turns around to face him and for a moment, her heart breaks. He looked so much like his father now, with his curls and his easy smile, and yet he acts so much like Daemon now. Even if Daemon had left, he'd left his many ghosts behind. Dragonstone was full of him. Rhaenyra's long braid in honor of the late Queen Visenya shifts down her black and maroon gown as she moves to place her hands on his face.

Ideally, Rhaenyra would've avoided using dragons and used armies of men instead, remembering the words her father King Viserys had told her all those years ago, but armies of men alone could not stop the likes of Vhagar and it was naïve to think otherwise. War was inevitable. It started the minute Ser Criston Cole placed a crown on Aegon the Elder's head. Perhaps it went farther back. At this point, it didn't matter. I have told my half-brothers and sweet Helaena to come to Dragonstone to bend the knee and ask my forgiveness for the usurpation of my rightful throne and I would have gladly spared their lives and welcome them back into my heart of hearts, and in return Aemond the Kinslayer murders my son in cold blood, she thought, and the more she thought about it the angrier she became, dragonfire boiling in her blood. How Jacaerys can be so calm in times like these made her proud but worried still.

after the hopeful end to their previous conversation, comfortably toeing the line, the weight of the words is an arrow to the chest, burdening an already heavy heart, the unspoken question lingering on pursed lips : what does this mean for us ? despite the need for an answer, and the ache for whatever had previously been between them, he composed himself, resigned to taking whatever cregan could give. “ i understand, of course. ” he nodded, tone soft. “ in truth, i was coming here to inform you, but i am glad you already knew. ” he’d had no idea how he was supposed to break that news, especially to a person he held in such high regards, but that was now weight off his shoulders. “ there are many unexplainable things happening here, it would seem. i am glad that at least yours can be a positive. ” arra remembered cregan, and so did rickon, and they were both here, a welcome surprise for the northern lord, he was sure.

Hmmm I don’t fully agree. HOTD is a drama, but not a telemundo soap opera. They don’t need to argue with other characters in every scene to be interesting. They don’t need to create any problems, the problems are already there and just need to be fleshed out.

One of the issues with how people are reacting to these characters is trying to force their favorites to be villainous or nuanced like the Lannisters when no one in HOTD will ever come close to that. It’s forced “my fav is so bad and different”, especially when the characters have no agency and the few who do like Larys or Mysaria get ignored basically. My criticism for the show is not that I want all the characters to hate each other or it’s boring. I just want the characters to have natural reactions to what’s going on around them, and some of those reactions are negative. It doesn’t have to be plot altering or extreme. Like with Rhaena, I don’t expect her to HATE Daemon and start plotting his death. I just want them to talk about his behavior and have the show portray the effects it’s had on her. That’s actually very minor in the grand scheme of the story. People should also separate political vs personal happenings in the show because for some reason that keeps getting mixed. I like the realism of GOT, and it’s not realistic to have everyone on the same side in constant turmoil with each other. I genuinely get bored with main characters, so that’s just me. I get burnt out seeing the same character promoted over and over again. It’s like when they keep playing the same song on the radio it’s just annoying.

So I’m personally bored with most of the characters like Alicent, Rhaenyra, and majority of the them I won’t ever be interested in them and that’s how I was with GOT also. I don’t support either team, and people on both sides will claim the show is giving favoritism when really it’s…….both?? but only certain characters are being white washed so idk why people pick and choose when to have an issue with that. Rhaenyra has clearly been white washed but that’s not the only character. Like Aemond is a total horrible person in the book and now is allowed the grace to be the victim of teasing by Jace as a child that’s still brought up when he’s basically an adult now. He’s not controlling Vhagar, so not killing his nephew on purpose and people even vilify Baela and Rhaena claiming they started the war over wanting to claim Vhagar. Like if he’s a villain than he can’t be the victim at the same time. Characters like Rhaena are not given grace for their young age or how things in Westeros could be out of their control, so again people like to pick and choose and I don’t think the writers giving people conflict will stop a fandom from behaving like that.

Daemon is one of the morally worst characters right now (even if people ignore that) and will be that way when the show ends, and he’s actually portrayed as crazy. He himself I don’t think was white washed or portrayed as a good person, I just want the other characters to react to what he’s doing instead of just moving on to the next plot point. With Jace I’m interested in his character regardless if he’s portrayed as good or bad, but I just want him to have reactions to what’s going on in addition to his normal Dance plot if that’s makes sense. How he’s coping with being a bastard.

I kinda just gave up on Rhaenys and Corlys because I know they are just keeping Rhaenys around until she dies early in the war and Corlys will not always support team black. Season 1 Corlys is ridiculous and I think he’s been shown as ridiculous especially with trying to marry off Laena and they did have a scene with Rhaenys blatantly saying those aren’t their grandkids. But more is going to happen as the seasons go on. This is why I’m always comparing some of the the HOTD characters to their actual GOT counterparts and parallels. Rhaena and Baela especially they are surviving the war but they won’t have 8 seasons to flesh them out and then bring them back together so they can’t really have huge beef with people established to begin with bc it won’t be settled on screen. And people are not allowing time for the characters to actually be developed before trying to create some finalized view of them. They weren’t even in a full season. Idk why characters 16 and younger are adultified by the fandom when the grown ups are being treated like children. That’s so bizarre. Also for some reason a large section of the fandom only views the show and characters through a shipping lense and refuse to perceive the characters outside of that.

The characters I’m most interested in seeing interact is some what somewhat Daemon, Baela, Rhaena, and Jace & Aegon, Criston, and Otto and most of these characters will not have conflict. Criston and Aegon are about to be on the same page basically for the rest of the show. I don’t think Daemon and Baela will ever have serious beef on screen. And that goes way beyond the Dance because like I said in a post last year there’s more going on with them being girls in a patriarchal universe than people just yelling at the screen for them to do their own thing. We already know Jace doesn’t really like Daemon like that and the Daemon/Rhaena thing I’ve explained a couple times. Jace/ Baela interactions, it depends on how they portray Jace…….

Meg doesn't feel right about walking away from the care of the dragons. In spite of the feelings of her order, she's devoted herself and her life to their care and their training. They deserve better than what they've gotten, and it would be cruel to abandon them.

So she goes to the dragonpit, and ensures the dragons have all gorged sufficiently, checks on Silverwing's nest, and is walking back through the pit with the heavy metal basket holding Silverwing's remaining eggs when she finds Jace with Vermax. Understandable, she thinks, for him to wish to check on the wellbeing of his dragon after the chaos Vermithor had caused. Many of the dragons had been ill at ease because of it.

"Prince Jacaerys," she says to alert him of her arrival, though Vermax has already turned to look at her. She sets the basket down. "Calm, Vermax." She puts her hand out at the rumbled greeting; she's known Vermax since he'd hatched. House Targaryen commands the dragons; the dragonkeepers care for them. She looks back at Jace.

"Forgive me, I would report such things to the senior dragonkeeper to pass along to the Queen," she says. "But it seems in the.... events of Vermithor and Silverwing being claimed, one of Silverwing's eggs was crushed underfoot." She gestures to the basket. "I'm moving the others to the hatchery for their protection. I should've asked first, but...." A small flush darkens her cheeks. "Well, I wasn't sure who to ask. Forgive me."

jenny had bought a bow. after walking past the armory several times, it had just kept calling to her. she was a child of apollo, after all. so she had a gift in archery. she was nowhere near as good as some of her siblings or the hunters of artemis, but jenny still enjoyed archery and she needed something to keep her sane. find a secluded spot, jenny made sure to look around first so as to not be distracted. beginning to get a feel for the bow, she was about to nock an arrow when someone came into her vision. "oh, hello!" jenny greeted, before moving the bow to her side since it almost looked as though she was going to shoot him.

cursed was not how jace would describe their engagement or marriage, but he had not given up the same things helaena had in it. she had put king's landing and her family behind her when they had wed, left behind her mother and brothers to move to dragonstone with him as his wife and future queen far ahead in their future. what had he given up in exchange? nothing, he supposed, and how was that fair?

"it is only cursed if we let it be," he answered softly, tentatively reaching out to place his hand over hers. she did not always like touch, his wife, something he always tried to be careful of and respect above all else, but he was still learning to recognise when she wanted his touch and when she did not. there was plenty of time to learn about one another, and there would be no one closer to him than helaena, no one who would know him better than her. he did not want her to feel cursed by being with him.

he squeezed her hand gently, smiling softly ( and hopefully somewhat reassuringly ) at her. "only we can decide what becomes of us, of our marriage, and no one else can choose that for us." not the queen or helaena's brothers, no matter how much they seemed against their marriage. "perhaps i am not who you wished to have married, but that does not mean we have to be unhappy, or cursed because of it," he assured her. they could turn this into something happy, right?

Helaena wanted to hide away once more. The book has turned to ash by now, simmering in her fireplace. It was in a craze that she threw the tome into the flame and she enjoyed watching it melt. She could only imagine it was Dreamfyre's blaze that caused the destruction. The words deserved to be destroyed, they brought painful recollections that she tried to suppress. Now it was staring her in the face and she remembered. The pleading and fear that possessed her when two men invaded the Red Keep. Her son's cries... Helaena blinked the unshed tears away, she would not let him see her despair.

Without meeting his gaze, she looks through blurry eyes at the new world they have found themselves in. She could never lie nor hide from Jacaerys. He was the soothing presence in the chaos of Westeros. The only one that willingly grasped her hand without worry or apprehension. " There's nothing to hide anymore. All secrets have come to light. " she whispered, flinching away from him. Not out of fear but out of restraint. She couldn't trust herself to not seek his peace with one glance. " W-Were they happy when they- " she couldn't finish the sentence. Was his family- her family, appeased with their intrusion and destruction of Helaena's only source of happiness. Mother   was   wise   enough   to   allow   them   to   grow   a   little   older   bother   marriage   was   even   a   consummation   or   a   thought,   but   a   bethrodal   had   been   made   and   Heleana   was   send   shortly   after   to   Dragonstone   to   spend   time   there   with   him,   considering   it   would   be   once   his   when   his   mother   inherits   the   throne.   It   was   a   good   childhood,   although   rather   awkward   at   first,   Jace   learned   that   Heleana   was   simply   made   different.   On   the   second   year   of   her   in   Dragonstone   he   gifted   her   a   book   for   her   bugs   and   write   about   them   and   down   the   line,   closer   to   a   proper   date   for   a   wedding,   he   gifted   her   a   diary   for   her   dreams,   which   he   knows   plague   her   greatly.  

He   knows   sometimes   touch   can   not   come   naturally   to   her   after   those   so   it's   easier   to   let   her   write   them.   "Come,   let's   dance."   He   asks   once   night   finally   when   mother   made   the   announcement   they   would   be   wed,   and   in   Dragonstone,   something   they   all   insisted   except   Heleana's   brothers   and   relatives   but   it   was   not   their   decision   but   the   King's.   They   both   smell   of   dragon   but   he   doesn't   particulary   care   of   that   matter.   "We   must   practice   for   the   big   day.   I   do   not   wish   to   step   on   your   toes,   m'lady." @dreamtfyres
