Are we seriously calling this a coincidence?
“San Francisco Chronicle launched an investigation — Its investigation finding that Pacific Palisades was the hardest hit community, suffering more policy non-renewals than anywhere else in California”
Tumblr media
The exact area that got hit. 🤔

Don't cry for murdered millionaires who profit off of death, sickness, pain and suffering.
I wonder how often he dried his tears with his blood money?
Poor people die every day though right?
That's okay right????

I had a similar experience. I was with my wife for six years when she finally was adding me to her insurance. But because we weren’t married, (and my guess is because we are queer) we had to get TWO letters from people who knew us stating we were in a relationship. A problem I never had in a “straight” relationship.
Similarly, when we were buying a house, we realized that despite being together more than 8 years at that point, I would have zero protections if we weren’t married (house is in her name since I had a bankruptcy). So, we got married. We made the best of it, and went from idea to married in like 3 months, most of that time being how long it took my wife to make our outfits (she insisted), but I am mad that it was the legality of it all that drove our marriage.
I listened to a talk by an alum from my wife’s college about how the legalization of gay marriage in the United States actually set back civil partnership rights significantly, which makes me really sad. Im in Canada, not the US, but we largely reflect the US paradigm. Not everyone wants marriage, or marriage right now, and shouldn’t have to in order to be protected and legitimized.
Looking into adding domestic partner to my insurance coverage and finding out my work doesn’t extend coverage to them, and it’s bringing up so many more feelings than I expect.
I know we have legitimate reasons for not being married yet, mostly because we want to have a small celebration and even planning that requires spoons, but another part of me gets really upset about it. It’s one of the reasons I don’t go on social media as much, I was starting to feel bitter and jealous when I’d see people get married. And it just sucks to see that how long we’ve been together, everything we share, doesn’t matter at all from a legal standpoint. Complete strangers can get married and their relationship is granted more legitimacy and more rights than mine.
And I know we can go to a courthouse and just do it, but I don’t want to just “get it over with.” I don’t want to do it because of some stressful reason or because we “need” to. I want to get married to celebrate our relationship.

i’m ngl i find the framing of the UHC shooting as a galvanizing moment for class solidarity to be uhhhhh optimistic at best considering how many people who by finances/jobs could definitely be included in the this solidarity umbrella statistically speaking recently voted for the Actively Tried To Make Health Care So Much Fucking Worse And Have Succeeded Consistently At Preventing It From Getting Better Party a few weeks ago. americans love images of vengeance and the fantasy of a good guy with a gun, we knew that already. it’s fine to like it when a bad guy dies but i’m not convinced that for many of the people cheering it on it actually means anything as far as like making connections to the actual reality of what would be required for things to improve (changing the laws, a thing americans famously hate and reliably punish political parties for doing, like they did the time the other party passed a law to make healthcare a little bit less horrible).

Just adding on that it's ALSO a bullshit reason because Adderall is also prescribed for patients with insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, shift work disorder, fatigue related to Multiple Sclerosis or Parkinson's Disease, and a myriad of other things. Insurance isn't helping because of step therapy requirements that won't let patients use other medications first. The whole industry is designed to fuck patients over.
I hate you pharmaceutical industry, I hate you chain pharmacies, I hate you insurance, I hate you phone trees, I hate you loud, repeating hold messages, I hate having to mentally prepare for doing without my medication every time this piece of shit industry breaks down, I hate you I hate you I hate you.

will never understand why so many people like William Easton from Saw VI, so often I see people say things like "he seemed to genuinely change from his game! He's sorry for what he did!" like yeah I bet the families of the people who died because he denied them health coverage are pretty sorry too

me trying to get my insurance to pay for a fursuit: it'd actually be way less expensive to you in the long run, and i think that being a soft squishy fluffy doggy would have more benefit to my mental health than traditional theraputic practices

⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ WARNING ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️
Listen, Progressive Insurance didn't shoot all those commercials for nothing people. Your plan has been weaponized against you.
They are already canceling fire insurance policies for those in Phoenix Arizona.
So you should already know what they plan to do. Your area is eligible to become a 15 minute city.
I wonder how Donald Trump is going to respond now that he is in power? Because didn't Bill Gates buy 30 acres of land there?
If I were you I would seriously be looking into how I could protect my home. Because you probably have little time left.
Why do I say that?
Because the California wildfires that started last month, specifically around early January 2025, saw insurance policy cancellations or non-renewals happening months in advance.
State Farm, for instance, announced the cancellation of 72,000 policies, including about 1,600 in Pacific Palisades, in April 2024, which means these cancellations occurred approximately 9 months before the wildfires started in January 2025. 🤔

They should pass a law where companies have to be honest about the fact that their top priority is and always will be their shareholders. So when they do a press release like this:
Tumblr media
It would be punishable by a large fine if they don't include a line before it like "State farms number one priority is ensuring our shareholders finances increase exponentially, they also insure homes"
