Love in the time of Corona For lunch, we had khichuri made with lentil and grits, small potatoes with skin on (well washed with baking soda) corns, fresh ginger, turmeric, green chillies. Added ghee for flavor. The flavor of childhood. My Thakuma used to make dalia khichuri, on "Ekadoshi"s. We could smell it 3 rooms down, as she dabbled few spoons of Jhorna ghee or even homemade ghee, that she had made from the saved "sor". We all used to get a share of that delicious khichuri and savored every bit of it. It was our day to relish the dish, when it was her day to observe it for being a widow. We did not realize it then, but today as we ate together, talking about our childhood, it was heart warming. We both talked about our grandmothers. We loved her dearly, yet as a kid we were ruthless too, sometimes we used to get irritated by her repitations of the same stuff. We both grew up separately, yet our stories were so similar. Today so many of our Grandma and Grandpa's are fighting to live few more years to be with their loved ones, let us all keep them in our prayers. A spoonful of ghee, a simple dish and a full room of childhood days. #Love in the time of Corona Ps: Even the birdies are maintaining social distancing yet more than ever engaging socially. On a regular day, they sit on one corner of the table and none of us even realizing their presence.
