5 times eddie singled out steve during a concert and the one time steve did it back

Corroded Coffin fans were no strangers to the deep love shared between frontman Eddie and his boyfriend Steve. To the point where magazines barely cared to feature any candid pics of them unless Eddie was flipping off the camera. "Two Very in Love People Share a Kiss at Cafe Date" didn't really sell much when it was the 50th story like that.

So when Eddie slowed things down in the middle of the concert, getting that very familiar 'heart eyes' look.

"I know my baby's in the audience. Even though he has a very comfortable room backstage. Show me where you are beautiful." Eddie's voice was slightly rough from the first half of songs.

His eyes scanned the audience until he heard a bunch of screaming from his right. The crowd was vibrating and he knew someone had spotted Steve.

"There you are." Eddie bit his lip, grin threatening to split his face. "This next one's for you."

The crowd was a mix of screams and awws as the beginning melody of It's Always Been You was heard.

2. Another day, another venue. This time, the afternoon crowd at a music festival. It was one of Eddie's favorite kind of scenes. People of all types, letting the music take them in broad daylight. A good mix of diehard fans, casuals, and people who had never heard them play before.

Eddie knew for a fact that Steve was sitting in a little foldable chair, with some drink from one of the booths. He always looked so unassuming with his soft hair and even softer clothes. But Eddie could never let him forget his inner badass. Nor did he let anyone else forget.

"Lil pop quiz for my fans", Eddie started. "One of our fan favorites The Knight's Arrival is inspired by someone very special in my life. Can we get a chant going for the man who has always been my knight in shining armor?"

A very enthusiastic chant for Steve started and Eddie thought his heart might burst. It was like a triumphant reprisal of those times the school would cheer on the ex-king on game night.

3. Sometimes the band put an age restriction on a concert. Now Eddie was of the mind that children didn't need to be coddled or have things censored for them. But also, he didn't need to lay it all out when there was a kid in the audience.

It was these kinds of shows that Eddie let it all hang out. More than one song was inspired by his nights with Steve. His angel's voice even featured on one track, letting out husky moans as Eddie brought him to the brink in the recording booth.

And tonight Eddie was hot. Hot enough to have already taken his shirt off and throw it to the audience. Hot enough that when he went backstage and saw Steve, he was only thinking of one thing. Eddie kissed him deep, tongue licking at the roof of his mouth before a word could leave his lips.

Crash was keeping the audience going with a drum performance. One that started with a simple beat that slowly intensified.

"I want them to hear you", Eddie said against Steve's mouth.

Steve's hair was already tangled in his hair. "You wanna dangle me in front of them?", he smirked.

"Show them you're mine", Eddie started nibbling at his jaw. "Show 'em how good I love you down."

Eddie got the headset mic rigged onto Steve. His sweet boy was already hard, just as turned on from seeing Eddie in his element as he ever was. Eddie slid down to his knees and unzipped his boyfriend's pants.

It started quiet. Not even audible as Crash really got going on the drums and got close to the climax. The room erupted as he reached the end. And it was in the calming of their cheers that they finally began to hear it.

"Eddie, mmmfuck."

They stirred in unison. Steve's voice rang loud and clear as he received a pleasure the rest of them could only speculate on.

"Fuck, sso good. Don't stop. Don't stop-ahh."

For a moment all they heard was Steve's quickening breaths before he called out Eddie's name, dragging it out like he was falling down a well.

Eddie came out moments later, licking something off his lips to cacophonous cheers. The bassline to Take a Bite began. He wished he could've told his high school self that one day he'd get a standing ovation for blowing a guy.

4. "Before we get started tonight I gotta make an announcement!", Eddie came out, already on 100. "First, where's my angel baby. Help me find him."

As usual, a particular part of the audience went wild and moved in a way that could only mean Steve was there.

"Can I get a parting of the Red Sea?", Eddie asked, moving his hands apart and getting that part of the mob to split like Moses. Steve stood there in the middle.

"Get used to that gorgeous. My fellow rockers, scholars, and mischief makers - I am officially a kept man." He flashed the ring on his finger to a din of screams. "Wedding's next fall and we're registered at every corner liquor store! 5-6-7-8!"

5. Eddie felt like he was home. In the middle of a set, shredding in a way that made him feel alive. The current song made it even better. One of the best collaborative efforts of the band. All of their fingerprints were on this track.

The crowd was just as amped up, giving back everything they got. There truly was no place he'd rather be.

Then he caught sight of his Steve, standing just off stage in the wings. And he was overcome. None of this would be possible without him. And even if Eddie and his boys somehow made it to stardom, it all meant nothing without his sweetheart.

Eddie casually walked over, fingers still moving as he got closer to Steve. He only took his hands off his guitar to grab his fiance and dip him as they kissed. Steve wrapped his arms around Eddie's neck. This wasn't his first time being kissed on stage.

And just as other times, the crowd went wild, while Jeff, Gareth, and Crash rolled their eyes through the playing.

6. Steve watched, absolutely lovestruck as Eddie sat on the couch, eating cereal. Dustin's baby, little Deana was propped up on cushions next to him, clearly satisfied as she sat there content. They were uncles babysitting for the weekend.

Steve walked over and grabbed the remote from off the coffee table, holding it like a mic. "All the babes out there, are you ready to rock?", he pointed to Deana.

Her new eyes got large at the movement and sound and her little fists waved in the air.

"But before I go on, I gotta give special love to someone tonight", Steve turned his gaze to Eddie. "To the greatest thing since sliced bread, I could watch you eat Coco Puffs all day."

"You're such a cornball", Eddie beamed, cheeks turning pink. "Can't believe you're doin it in front of a baby."

"Oh, don't tell me the god of rock is getting bashful? So when I wanna shout you out in front of our niece, it's cheesy. But when you call me out in front of thousands-"

"Shut up and kiss me." Eddie put the half finished bowl on the floor and grabbed Steve by the wrist, pulling him right into his lap.

Steve let out a little breath between kisses. "Dustin's gonna have a fit if he finds out we made out in front of his baby."

"What he don't know won't hurt him."

WHAT HAS GORMENGEIST BEEN UP TO

It's been a while since I talked about game things. I even missed GREED's one year anniversary- but worry not, Thanksgiving is coming up, which is (obviously) GREED's cardinal holiday, so we will do something for that. But in the interest of throwing you all a bone, I want to start talking about my million games in progress, one at a time. Starting with the most finished:

ALL THE ACES

I've already talked about ALL THE ACES a lot, but not for a while! It's a detective noir game inspired primarily by post-war detective fiction like The Third Man and Gravity's Rainbow. The reason I'm excited for it is that I believe TTRPGs are the most energetic medium for a mystery to be in, when done right.

ALL THE ACES borrows GREED's basic mechanics, combat, and overall attitude that the players are scum waiting to be scraped off the heel of the world. The initial impetus for making ATA at all was that I found GREED's system (and especially it's combat- fast, swingy, and deadly) uniquely suited to the sort of mystery stories I wanted to tell, where talking things out was a necessity for survival, and threats of violence are Scary

ALL THE ACES is, as a core rulebook, done. Or at least it's releasable. The thing that I've been dragging my feet on for literally ten months now is writing/finishing its opening mystery module. Anyone who knows me knows that modules are the only part of TTRPG design that does not come naturally to me, and indeed, I find it incredibly irritating. But you can't release a mystery game without a mystery, so some day, I will buckle down and finish it, then release the game.

What I mean when I say "done right" in terms of detective games is that it adheres to three tenants of mystery TTRPG design that I hold to, and have been effective in my experience. Below the cut, design thoughts:

1: The players must intimately understand what is possible. For ATA, this means that there are no supernatural elements.

Magic in a mystery game is only awesome insofar as the players are intuitively aware of how those elements work. In other words, I can't make good deductions if I'm not sure what the bounds of possibility are. There is enough impossibility and uncertainty in mundanity, I think, to run on.

This isn't to say that no good detective game has magic, but that it works best in a game that can first immerse its players in the magic (while not doing detective stuff, long enough to really steep in it) and then drop the pop-quiz, which is what a mystery is! It challenges your knowledge about the world, who is in it, what they want and what can't be done. ATA attempts to smooth this learning curve; We already know how real life works, and this is like that but different.

2: Talking is the action.

This is the thing I'm most excited about. In a noir story, the most tense moments, the biggest payoffs, and the best actions are not gun fights or chases, but conversations. This is the one thing that we, at the TTRPG table, are literally doing. Even when we are are fighting in-game, we are talking in real life. The game is already a conversation. ALL THE ACES wants to give you ammo so that in the main action, it can step back, so you can just talk.

3: You can't do it all (or: there is never enough time).

It is dramatic to split the party, to ask escalating questions, and to fail. So there's a clock, and unless we do something stupid, we are never going to figure this thing out in time. A leisurely mystery is just something you're curious about.

Lautski Week: Day 6 (Loop….Again)

Is it cheating for using an alternate theme twice? Eh, I think I used it differently enough. Kind of funny, while my first Lautski Loop board is based/inspired on Happy Death Day, this board is somewhat inspired by its sequel, Happy Death Day 2U (and maybe a little Totally Killer.)

Pete wake up one day to find that he’s not himself. Well, he is still Peter Spankoffski but not the one he knows. Pete finds himself in another reality where he is apart of the popular cliche. He’s known as the funny flirt of the group, which baffles him. He bumps into another student while trying to figure everything out. Much to his shock, it’s Steph but not. It is a nerdy Steph, going by Stephanie. He wants to talk to her but the passing period is almost over. Luckily, they have the same class together… that starts with a pop quiz. To his horror, Pete realizes that he has been taken to the start of this universe’s NPMD events. Now, he has to stop all of it from happening again while maneuvering in a life that's not his with a Steph who may not be as different as his.

(I couldn't make up my mind if it’s just Pete and Steph that are swap or if it’s everyone.)

I had thoughts about doing this idea but I wasn’t sure what if I could find any pictures that would fit the best. However, once I found the Mariah picture, I HAD to do it. I love how this board came out. But GOD, does it look like a cover for Wattpad story.

“Hey GQ, it’s y/n here, with my favorite person everr.” You look to him so he can introduce himself. “Aran Ojiro, top tog” he threw gang signs up and you guys laughed together.

You guys are sitting in an illuminated room, with two spinning chairs and the GQ producers and crew members were all doing their role and laughing a little too.

“first question, besides you, who’s my celebrity crush.” you smirked.

“Brent Faiyez. Easy.” He said rolling his eyes. The women on the set all laughed cause they know Brent fine asf. He went on to tell a short story about how you fan girled when you met him.

“Oh you don’t know this one…” you read over the next question.

“man hit me.” he smacked his teeth.

“how many tattoos do I have?” you giggled, you could already tell he was bout to say some outta pocket shit.

“girl my mouth been on every part of yo body and you think I don’t know how many tattoos you have?” He looked confused.

You looked to the producers and asked if you could curse and they said yes, it’s fine.

“nigga stop stalling and answer the question.”

“the heart behind your ear, the butterflies on your rib cage, your birthday in Roman numerals on your shoulder, and our lil secret on your index finger.”

“show off. what’s my favorite color?”

“the first movie we watched together?”

“aw man. after the BET awards, you made me watch every marvel movie ever made. but we started from the beginning so iron man.”

“stop acting like you didn’t like it. What’s something on my bucket list?” you scooted your chair closer to him to look him in the eye. he pecked your lips sense you were so close.

you laughed and backed up. “To do a song with Nicki Minaj.”

“Yesss. If you know me, you know I’m a huge Nicki fan.” He looked into to camera and rolled his eyes.

“How you know when I’m mad at you?” You laughed. You never really got mad at him unless he ate your food.

“You blast breakup music in my house.” He mean mugged you.

“that is not true.” you made a buzzard noise.

“What color are my eyes?” You asked next.

“psh. That’s easy bro. Brown.” He responded.

“You right that was an easy question.. let me see.” You looked through the cards for a harder question to ask him.

“I know you.” He laughed taking a sip of the water while he waited.

“If I wasn’t a singer, what would I be?”

“Damn, an.. Athletic Trainer” he smiled knowing he got it right.

“Oh my god. If you know me, you know I got a full ride scholarship to Clark Atl for that. But I chose to pursue my music with the help of my daddy”

“Boy my daddy don’t even like you.” You pushed.

“That’s cause he don’t know me! I bet he’ll like me more than he like you.” He held his hand out for you to shake.

“How much?” You asked before you shook his hand.

“Boy I am not betting you $20. Get out my face.” You pushed his hand away and everyone laughed.

“Ok, last question. What is my favorite song by you?” You smiled while hiding your face with the cards.

“Released or Unreleased?” He asked knowing that you know all his songs.

“It don’t matter.”

“Prada U. Only because it’s about you though.”

“All your love songs better be about me.” You threatened. To which he threw his hands up and said they are.

“Aye, thank yall for watching our GQ Couples Quiz. It’s been fun.” He said laughing and looking at the camera.

It depends a lot on what kinna book one has in mind. I like a lot of 40k, the Culture series. The Discworld and Revelation Space books I've read are fantastic. ASoUE is my great love.

My single favorite work is probably The Great God Pan, which did a lot to inspire my own writing. In fact, my own setting is largely a kinna sequel to it and takes it's name from the Memoirs to Prove the Existence of the Devil, the name of the files the proto-occult detective protagonist (this was in 1895) keeps on supernatural events he's investigated. The King in Yellow, coincidentally released in the same year, is also close to my heart - enough so that I really hate how it's treated by people who try to write about it and completely miss the point.

If you want to read something that really captures the spirit of The King in Yellow, read the short stories The King in Yella, Toward the Banner of the King, and The River of the Night's Dreaming, or play the games Signalis and Who's Lilah?. All are explicitly within the "Yellow Mythos" and are fantastic.

If something names the titular King "Hastur," throw it in a fire and run far away.

They constantly make it about TMEs lol.

Absolutely inspired by @stargazingfangirl18's pop quiz post. Just didn't want to hijack the thread.

Okay, so I have two that come to mind. Actually, I'm working on these scenarios as we speak. (Maybe by talking about them, I can actually get moving on them again.)

First is Ransom.

Harlan hires a dog trainer to play personal assistant to Ransom in the hopes of not only turning his grandson around (personality and professionally) and to repay a debt owed between the families.

Ransom isn't told this beforehand, so he's livid to find this woman coming into his home and just making herself (and her two cats) comfortable in his home. As much as he wants to intimidate her and get her out of his home and life because of the audacity, she's not someone who backs down or allows herself to get pushed around, especially by the likes of Ransom and his ilk. This especially includes Harlan and the rest of the Thrombey clan.

The tension will be thick between them and so antagonistic at the outset, but they have to learn to live with each other. Over time Ransom actually comes to even like the fights that break out between them because he sees the fire in her and has a special nickname for her. He doesn't call her Honey (short for Honey Badger) for nothing.

Really need to write their part 2 soon but yeah, there ya go.

The other is Frank Adler.

In the story I'm getting closer to building, Frank's story follows quite a bit like it does in the movie, but he has one thing in this AU that he didn't have in the movie. That's Savannah Metcalf (my OC and granddaughter of "Viper" Metcalf from Top Gun).

Savannah, aka Savvy, is a mafia boss/queen and has no problem using her talents as a lawyer and as a mafia queen to benefit herself and others (mostly others). That includes Frank when she learns his mother is trying to take Mary away from him.

Her methods and influence turns their acquaintance-ship into adversaries. He wants nothing to do with her manhandling his situation even if it directly benefits him or helps keep Mary from his mother's overly ambitious hands.

Every time he learns something new she's done for him (or rather them), he's storming into her office and demanding she quit even when she's actually innocent of doing anything. He's absolutely adamant that he's not going to fall in line like the others around her or become one of her 'goons'. She doesn't even try to correct him most times, finding the fire each one of these incidents inspire within him is incredibly hot. She even wonders if she'll get caught up in his flame one day, possibly even hoping to as he's had her under his spell since he first stumbled into town with six-month-old Mary.

I'm hoping to have their first part out before the month is out. Just need the muse to be a bit nicer to me on this one.

*Really hope I hit it with the way I described it above. I'm so tired and heat-weary that I'm not sure I did. Gonna post it anyway.

Music has always been a big part of my life. My favourite genres include K-pop, Indie, Bedroom Pop, OPM, and etc., with groups like SNSD and SHINee holding a special place in my heart. Their music has been a source of comfort and inspiration for me since I was very young. Recently, I’ve been listening to ENHYPEN, ILLIT, Avery Lynch, and esseca. Songs like Not For Sale by ENHYPEN, The Boys by SNSD, and Girls Never Die by tripleS instantly lift my mood. I can easily listen to all of ENHYPEN’s albums and artists like Gracie Abrams on repeat. Interestingly, my first concert experiences weren’t in K-pop or Western pop. Growing up, I attended many classical vocal music concerts because my older sibling studied as a tenor and baritone vocalist in an arts academy. Inspired by those performances, I joined the same academy as a mezzo-soprano vocalist and participated in numerous classical and choral music festivals and events. One of my biggest dreams is to see ENHYPEN live someday. It would be amazing to experience one of their concerts, and I hope to make it happen. As for my musical abilities, I can play the piano, sing, and read music, though I’m not always confident in my skills. As a writer and poet, I also enjoy writing lyrics. Many of the songs in my writing playlist, featured on my Tumblr masterlist, hold deep personal meaning and connect to memories or life lessons, which I reflect on in my stories. Although I’m not a big fan of EDM, I have a few exceptions depending on my mood. If my life had a theme song, it would be Mortal by ENHYPEN—it resonates with me in a way that feels uniquely personal.

this man is a stan of snsd. tenya is a very cultured man and generally gives me second gen stan vibes. he truly believes ‘into the new world’ changed the trajectory of his life and had the biggest cultural impact of any piece of media in this century. tenya will write an essay arguing this. he also appreciates exo and shinee! hates superjunior (as he should) but hearing lucifer gets his hips shaking side to side.

momo loves classical and instrumental music (her spotify wrapped is just studio ghibli soundtracks) but she can appreciate the occasional k-pop song. she loves female soloists in particular! think iu, taeyeon, chungha, ailee… she knows how to appreciate beautiful female vocals. also has a strong affinity for k-drama soundtracks. the ones with special idol features - you know what i’m talking about. slow, romantic ballads. shows jirou all her favourite ones (jirou thinks they’r kind of boring but listens just for her girlfriend).

izuku loves bts because of the messages in their songs. he finds their story so inspiring. izuku relates to the fact that they built up their legacy from the ground up with nothing but hard work, and that they were ignored for so long. definitely listens to spring day and young forever when he is sad and just sobs (just like me fr). if you knock on his dorm and ask if he’s okay, he will squeak out a response insisting he’s fine. but you can still hear him sobbing into the pillow during the pauses before the next queued songs play. oh and izuku’s bias is namjoon because of how well spoken and intellectual he is, but he admires all members for their passion. oh and and ochako introduced him to twice!! he loves how cheerful their music is.

now, uraraka has devoted her life to twice. she is a diehard twice fan. but she is poor and her only album was a gift from kirishima and she treasures it. her favourite era was dance the night away and her bias is jihyo (this is so intellectual of her). carries a photocard in her phone case. class 1-a surprise ochako with tickets to see them live on one of her birthdays (they piled up all their money) and she just started floating towards the ceiling in shock. then she cried there

mina is in love with ateez!! she loves to learn their dances and appreciates their high energy. also thinks they are the most beautiful men to grace this earth (this is facts). her bias is yeosang. she knows every choreo and it always looks incredible. for school festivals, mina will gather some of her classmates and force them to learn complicated dance choreo to perform in front of everyone. this year it was o.o by nmixx.

shouto undoubtedly listens to loona and is not afraid of admitting it. it’s like the patrick bateman meme - he walks with zero emotion but hi high is blasting in his headphones. however does not know their names, or at least he cannot put name to face. but yes he knows their whole discography. bought an album once and he was shocked at how many inclusions there were (he was expecting just a cd). eventually discovers the loona universe and fan theories and for a week straight it was all shouto spoke to his friends about. they got so annoyed they blocked the word loona from their social medias temporarily so it wouldn’t set him off on a spiral.

hmm.. katsuki loves dreamcatcher. this man has got superior taste. i feel like katsuki would mainly listen to rock music and hip-hop. so other artists he may appreciate are dean, dpr live and epik high. but sometimes you can hear red velvet coming from his dorm and if you question him about it he will scream at you (if it plays when katsu is drunk you can even catch at a peek at him doing the choreo when he thinks no one is looking).

also a cultured man as kirishima is a fan of twice. he joins the girls when they had ‘girly’ sleepovers and learns the dances from them (this headcanon applies to all their ‘girls night’ sleepovers. kiri makes them so much fun). this is especially fun during award shows, where they all gather around a laptop, eyes wide and glossy as they wait for their favourite groups to hopefully be announced as winners. definitely films the dances on tiktok and also shows them to katsuki later. based on mina’s recommendation, he would probably listen to ateez too!

i sense a neverland. this man is obsessed with (g)-idle. denki has a crush on soyeon (he is me). denki cried when soojin left (i did too) but will take this to his grave. also loves stayc. he most certainly owns a few albums. he prefers girl groups over boy groups because he is a bit of a perv (sorry denki i love you!!). but also because denki believes girl groups have superior music. his most played song of all time is tell me by the wonder girls.

I want to say, like... 5k? That was during the first draft of There's Magic Between Us, and I was really excited to get to the treehouse scene, so I just kept writing until I got to it :)

☁️ Cloudy - What inspired you to start writing your WIP? (or in general)

Answering this for Behind You because that's my main WIP right now!! I'm scrolling back through a discord conversation I had with some friends right while I was coming up with this, and apparently this wip was inspired by "a weird shitpost uquiz," but I honestly don't remember what quiz it was at this point LOL. I DO remember that the initial concept was WAY different than what the story has ended up becoming... but I think it started when I heard somewhere that people used to picnic in graveyards, and I got this little burst of inspiration for a potential character:

In my head, this unnamed narrator was a teenager at this point, with a very similar energy to Lydia in the Beetlejuice musical, LOL. Scrolling through my discord messages, I see I actually realized it was an Orpheus retelling just while spitballing notes to my friends, haha.

It wasn't until later that I decided that this was actually an adult novel, and it's gotten a lot more surreal. The main character doesn't really bare much resemblance to the one that popped into my head during the inital concept, but interestingly, a lot of her opening narration has remained the same! (At least for now... this is only a first draft, after all.)

ANYWAY. I hope you enjoy peeking into other authors' processes as much as I do, and this was at least somewhat entertaining instead of painfully boring, LOL

A/N: Chapter 9 and the third interlude of this story!! They say the world is full of possibilities. Anything can happen, anything is possible, nothing is impossible. Is the teacher going to give a pop quiz or announce a new project? Is dinner going to be turkey or chicken? Is that present going to be a new book or a new lego set? Some possibilities are connected to your own choices, but most of them aren't. Most of them are provided without anyone's say but that of the universe itself. There are those who claim it's unfair and try to force their own possibilities. People try to force control where there can be none. And in doing so, they actually push themselves farther away from the possibilities they want so much in the end.

Then there are some people who aren't even aware that they have possibilities in the first place. Some people just see one possible choice, one possible outcome, and nothing more, when maybe there's actually four or five of them. And when they choose the wrong possibility, they feel guilt, as if they did something wrong. At times it is, for those so blinded by their own mind that they aren't allowing themselves to see what's right there. And for others, it's the opposite, other people blocking their view or the path they've led up until that point not allowing the other possibilities to even be visible in the first place. The man frantically searching the dark house he had forced his way into is experiencing the latter.

"Tris!? Tristan!?" The blonde-haired man cries out for another. Around another corner. Back up the basement stairs. Through the kitchen once more. Up to the second floor. He's quickly dissolving into hysterics, despite how much he's trying not to. The two women in the house with him, waiting by the door, exchange looks of deep worry and concern. A hint of sadness to them both, slouched shoulders and dull eyes.

The blonde goes through every single room in the house, every single floor. He looks in each closet, in each cupboard, just in case. He presses at the walls and moves every bookcase as if expecting some secret door to be at each one. His breathing is quick and heavy, way faster than it should be, but he can't find it in himself to care. The women gasp as he throws a fist at the wall with an angry shout at the one who's caused his despair. The one who took his love away.

A sob escapes his throat and he falls back against the now broken wall, sliding to the floor as he curls in on himself. The pinkette and bluette move to his sides immediately, hoping to provide whatever comfort they can, even though they know it won't really help the man. He breaks down. Fully and completely breaks down. He's sure he's not done so in over a decade. He breaks down because the house is empty. In fact, the whole place is covered in a thin layer of dust, as if no one had been in it for weeks before they'd came and disturbed it. And he knows for certain now that he cannot live without the man he's lost. It's...impossible. How could he ever be without a person when it hurts this much to be? Or, a better question, how is it even possible to be this attached to one single person? How can someone, after just months of being in his life, carve such a large place for themselves inside his heart?

He knows now, without question, that he is in love with the man. It's the only explanation for how much pain he's in, as if his ribcage is being forced open and with every snap of bone, he's sinking deeper and deeper into dark, cold waters. And he has no idea if the snapping will ever stop or if it'll just continue until a hand can wrap around his heart and squeeze, stealing his entire life away from him. The man has no idea if he'll ever find his love again. Because this house is the only possibility he knows of. He doesn't know about the large weapon of a house hiding away in the middle of the woods. He doesn't know about the dark, soundless room or anything around it. He doesn't know that there's another possibility just hours away from him. Because his path never allowed him to. And now, because of that, all he can do is sit and cry in this barren living space, hoping that the man will return to him one day.

Oh boy, there's so many worlds living in my head currently hahaha!

There's the boxer continuation I still need to plot out, more one-shot collection pieces including an amusement park AU, a couple different stripper ones (I can't help myself oops), drunk Anetra at a party with Marcia taking care of her (tbh this one might leave the one-shot folder and become a whole story)

Then there's the non-one-shots, which has a bodyguard/celebrity AU that I have plotted but need to suck it up and put to paper, a (shocker) Vegas stripper and 21st birthday AU, and yes I know it's cheesy as fuck but I love cheesy fics but I'm currently working on my tattoo shop owner AU where Marcia comes to get some tattoos and accidentally falls in love.

Comparing Taylor Swift to William Shakespeare

What do Taylor Swift and William Shakespeare have in common? More than you might think, it turns out.

There's even a Buzzfeed quiz comparing her lyrics with lines from Shakespeare's poems.

Eminent Shakespeare scholar and former Oxford professor Sir Jonathan Bate, who is quite the Swiftie himself, got them all right.

So, who better to speak on the matter.

In a bookstore, 25 minutes south of where the Beatles were born Bate had an unexpected encounter with a modern interpretation of Romeo and Juliet.

The lyrics of Taylor Swift's Love Story, about a girl on a balcony and a boy who comes to rescue him, had captured his attention.

"I went up to the counter and said to the girl behind it, oh that's a great song, who's it by, and she said... this country and western artist Taylor Swift... so I bought the CD - those were the days of CDs - and gave it to my daughter who was nine I think and she gave it to all her friends," Bate told RNZ Afternoons.

"They sort of became lifelong Swifties so I kind of followed along."

Bate argues Swift is more than just a best selling pop star - she has a literary sensibility worthy of some of history's great writers.

"A lot of my work over the years... has been about how Shakespeare stays alive by being reinvented on all sorts of different cultural media."

The poet John Keats - also a big Shakespeare fan but who lived in the wrong century to test his loyalty to Swift - says poetry is "a wording of our highest thoughts, almost a remembrance".

"In other words, what a great poet does is they put into words feelings that we've all had but that we've not quite been able to articulate," Bate says.

"That's what Shakespeare did for his generation and it seems to me that is what Taylor swift is doing for a whole generation of young people."

There are of course areas where the pair differ.

"There's no doubt that Shakespeare was very very discrete about his own feelings and his own ideas."

Every feeling expressed belongs to a character, not to Shakespeare himself, Bate says.

Even when he wrote seemingly more autobiographically in his sonnets, he doesn't let on who he is talking about, he says.

"Maybe that is because he was bisexual because the majority of those sonnets do seem to be addressed to a beautiful young man."

It is a far cry from Taylor Swift, who has used her own life and successive heart breaks as sources for her work.

"My Taylor Swift journey took a bit of a pause when she started rocking and rapping, which isn't really my thing."

It was reignited, Bate says, when Folklore and Evermore were released.

"I started listening to the lyrics particularly of one of the songs in which she goes to the Lake District in the north west of England and actually mentions William Wordsworth, the great English romantic poet.

"That got me looking more closely at her lyrics and seeing that there's a whole set of references in her work to that romantic poetic tradition.

"There's no doubt she has a very literary sensibility."

True Swifties would have picked up on an easter egg too, Bate says - Evermore was announced on 10 Dec, the birthday of the romantic poet Emily Dickinson.

Bate says there's a famous Emily Dickinson poem about a love triangle, with the following lines:

The domination of visual platforms like Instagram and YouTube means in some ways, we are losing the sense of the power of words, Bate says.

"So I think when you have a popular artist like Taylor Swift who chooses words so carefully, who genuinely produces poetry in her lyrics, that's an enormously powerful, reassuring positive thing."
