Where Are You Christmas? | One Shot

Date: whenever the uni holidays were about to start.

Summary: Tad's mom calls about the holidays.

The holidays were upon them, and Tad had been thinking a lot about the past Christmases he'd had back home in California with his parents and Galadriel. There were also a few years they'd drive up to a cabin and snowboard for the holidays. It was always a good time at the Fiske home.

And maybe Tad had changed a little from before. But he'd still kind of expected to go home and see his family. At least until his mom called him just as the university holiday break was about to start. "Samwise my brave boy," she started with, Tad busying himself packing up one of his bags.

"Mom. The break's finally starting. Isn't that sweet? I was thinking like-" he started to say, but his mom interrupted him before he could put his thoughts to words. "Oh honey, we've been thinking of you a lot too. Especially about everything you've gone through."

Tad hummed, fiddling with his hoodie drawstring. "Yeah yeah it took a while to get to a good vibe again, but I am now you know?" "Oh of course! But you know, your dad and I... you know we'd love nothing more than to see you right? And we really really would. But we worry it wouldn't be the right environment for you right now."

And that hit him right in the jellies. Tad felt like his stomach was a churning wave, unable to calm the more his mother spoke. He didn't expect his parents to cut off from pot or anything. But at the same time... Tad felt weirdly bummed that they weren't even trying. Did they really want to see him? Tad felt like the vibes were all wrong now with his parents. Were they bummed he'd sobered up?

"Oh." Tad managed to say after a while. This was weird. Tad usually always knew what to add. He always knew how to keep the vibes good and keep his days pretty bright. Tad couldn't fix this vibe. He just felt sad. "You know your dad has a few friends from college visiting too and Galadriel... maybe you can have a good holiday with your friends this time."

This time. As if next time would be any different. Tad wasn't the smartest person in most rooms. He wasn't quick to catch on to a lot of things. But he could understand that these things wouldn't change next year either. How long had his parents been vibing their own way without thinking of him? Or even his sister?

"Sure mom. I've got some pretty awesome friends over here," Tad agreed softly after a long minute. "Anyway I should probably go. There's an epic snowball fight about to go down and stuff. So yeah. I..yeah. Love you. Bye mom." He hung up quickly after that, flopping back onto his bed in his dorm room.

So...he was alone for the holidays. That was cool. Tad was...he would vibe. Probably. Eventually. Right? He sniffled, reaching up and slowly wiping away a tear that he couldn't quite stop. He turned on his side to face the wall, figuring he could just lay there for a while until hd figured out how to be solo holiday excited Tad.

“So,” Danny drawled from where he was sitting, legs kicking slightly. Really, what a fun reincarnation. A world with heroes and villains where he didn’t have to do shit in and could just vibe with Ellie. 

“So,” Tim responded from where he was typing on his computer, mostly in civilian clothes save for his gauntlets and boots. The Red Robin outfit was haphazardly dropped across the couch and his pole leaning against the end. 

“Technically there’s proper procedures for clones…” Danny motioned to both himself and Ellie from where they sat on the counter, snacking on a plateful of scones. From Alfred, he was certain. 

“Technically, yes… but do we want to actually do that?” 

All three of them smiled, something almost feral in the motion. Of course not. They all had the same memories after all, and Bruce had just returned from the past, from exactly where and when Tim had said he was. Despite no one believing him, hence why they were in his boathouse, and not in the apartment or manor. 

“Think we can pull it off?” Ellie took a sip of tea, mischief swirling in her eyes. 

“Of course we can.” Both Danny and Tim spoke at once, one pulling up a new doc and the other pulling the whiteboard out from under a curtain.

I came up with Floyd's (other) ex band mates and then I went a little insane about them. . . Anyway they're all alternative trolls who adopted him into their group. They play nu metal at underground gigs but mostly they just go to raves and get stoned out of their gourds.
