I adore Robert Sheehan obviously and wouldn't have anyone else play Klaus Hargreeves, but sometimes I think how they missed a tiny opportunity by not making him Japanese.

In Japanese, there are two words for four (四): yon (よん) and shi (し). Both are valid while counting, but many people avoid using shi (四, four) as it is pronounced identically to 死, shi, the word for death.

The superstition around shi is so strong that just like how some buildings in Western culture will omit a 13th floor or a 13th room out of superstition, Japanese buildings will omit 4s. From my understanding, this is also why 24 is typically pronounced nijuu yon (2, 10, and 4) rather than nishi (2 and 4) because the latter sounds like ニ死, "double death". Similarly, 43 could become shisan (4 and 3), which sounds very close to shizan (死産), "stillbirth", so many hospitals and especially maternity wards avoid the number.

Anyway, the point is that the number four is strongly associated with death and bad luck in Japanese culture and I just think it could have been a cool extra layer of symbolism. A little bit of added fun.

Insert Bernie meme here: I am once again asking for people to think about what they're doing when they tag their ships. My OTP is a M/M rarepair, and I stumbled across a fic tagged Guy 1/Guy 2/OC, so I thought "oh neat, I'm not into throuples but I'll consume anything that has this ship, so gimmegimmegimme" aaand it turned out to just be Guy 1/OC and Guy 2/OC without any shippy interaction between the two guys... The only "interaction" was that it was evident that they strongly disliked each other. :(

But then again, it wasn't tagged Guy 1/Guy 2, so I should have guessed, heh... I thought it was just one of those instances where people tag the characters but not the ship despite it being shippy or where people mistag it with an ampersand, since I've also read slashy fics of them that were tagged with an ampersand.

Still, I wish people would just use Guy 1/OC/Guy 2 instead of Guy 1/Guy 2/OC in such cases.

I don't think the ship order for OT3s thing has ever really caught on in fandom widely.

It's definitely a thing in tagging erotica (usually M/F/M vs. M/M/F), but even there, you can see goodreads lists with warnings plastered all over them not to pollute the M/M/F list with irrelevant M/F/M. People clearly don't grasp that these are two tagging standards.

On AO3, different ship orders would be wrangled together too, so there isn't a ton of point.

would any of the clan cats stay with the tribe after the journey? i feel like it’d be an easy way to lower the population without deaths, especially if some warriors are willing to fight rogues on their behalf. they get injured, have to stay while they heal, go “hey I like it here” and stay permanently.

it would make an interesting plot point for the great battle - the tribe offers to help, like how the clans helped against the rogues. they’d have reason to if some of their members originated from the clans! Plus, the three have a connection to the tribe cats, being reincarnations and all - it felt like they were leading up to something big with them that went nowhere personally.

Less likely than you'd imagine! Tribe culture is actually quite unsettling to Clan cats. Like... unnerving.

Tribe cats are both extremely casual about ancestor worship, and heavily discourage battle and conflict. They're the opposite of rigid Clan cats, who are raised believing that the CLERIC is the center of religious life, and that honor in battle is an ideal.

I imagine it was extremely uncomfortable to learn that Stoneteller channels spirits. Like... on-demand. StarClan would never abide something like that, being reduced to the beck and call of the living. Nor can they handle the idea that normal, regular people can interpret the will of their ancestors.

It's kinda like... Catholics and Protestants. Not EXACTLY but, Clan cats believe that you need authority to interpret the will of StarClan. Tribe cats think it's gross and cruel to lock their ancestors away behind formal training.

These cultures are very different in ways that could cause a lot of conflict.

There must be 1 or 2 who ended up staying with Stormfur, but it was a teensy amount.

Also, I can't involve the Tribe in the Great Battle, because oh my god I'm already trying to beef the Dark Forest with more cats and not have StarClan joining be overwhelming, a Tribe patrol on top of it would be too much to work with!

Anyways, I just want to say that you absolutely nailed the horror elements of this issue. Admittedly I think that having a phobia of skeletons made this one extra creepy for me, but in general I'm a big fan of the buildup in this issue, as well as the horror behind the fact that we and Pinepaw both have no clue how many cats were buried there. It especially shook our favorite little guy up, considering that he wasn't able to enjoy snacking with Cormorantpaw when Cormorantpaw just saying hi to him would usually make his day. Unfortunately having a crush does not solve the horrors

We got a very brief appearance from my favorite mystery man Rainhaze, some neat lore and Cormorantpaw making some progress in their relationship instead of Pinepaw being the one to make the first move but at what cost. at what cost

Anyways I'm sorry if this got long but I'm just here to say that I loved this issue and now I'm going to go cope with the emotional impacts this kitty comic has on me

Thank you, I'm really glad you liked the issue! I wanted to try and strike that vague "anything could be down there" kind of horror with the skeletons being uncountable. Definitely something that rattled Pinepaw, enough that he couldn't even enjoy eating with Cormorantpaw. :( Poor guy.

SO ! ampen right ? my little guy ? my baby girl ? my beloved ? I'm gonna talk mostly abt their physical design than their other details bcs I have more notes abt their physical appearance than anything :]

I have no idea what they are, I kinda just started drawing her abhdjsjsj but I think the two most notable animals he could conceivably be are probably a fox and a dragon of some sort (original I know) however I do want to give an honorable mention to my first draft of them, bcs goddamn I changed a lot abt her bsjdhsjjs. at first he was just completely a dog but I decided to give them those 3 fingered claw/hoof things, here's the very sketchy guy herself who inspired Ampen:

yeah snndjsn basically the only thing that stayed the same was the vague color scheme and the "hooves" changed from the hands to the feet. a lot of ampens physical design was just cool things I saw in other fursuits that I thought would be cool, like I just loooove the hoof feet, they look v cool and I just like them a lot, so I included them ! (I didn't in my first real drawing of ampen but then I did on their character sheet) same with the tail, I'm p sure at the time of ampens actual creation I had recently seen a dragon fursuit with that kind of tail and was obsessed with it, I tried so many different tails for him and none of them were looking quite right until I tried their current tail, and I love it . the dragon bit also comes out in her muzzle, it's a bit more pointed and sharp than a canine muzzle would be, again mostly just bcs I think it looks neat :] and I knew I wanted my fursona to have big ol ears from the very beginning, I didn't put them on ampen-rough-draft bcs I didn't start with the intent for him to be my fursona sbjdjdjs but anyways- the fur pattern took me a while to come up with, I started with just vague splotches of color in random spots, messed around with specific colors, I don't think I decided on the pink stitch mark things until like- the very end dnjsjjd I have no idea where I came up with it , I was just trying random things and hoping they looked right lmao-

I gave them glasses bcs . I have glasses . and I think it's cute and there aren't enough furrys with glasses :3 then added the piercings bcs I think they look cool and that's really it bajshjejskwks

anyways , now for the couple things that aren't visible on a drawing, I imagine her being like 5'4 MAX , he's pretty short . mostly bcs I am v short and plan to actually make ampen, and that's a height I could realistically get to accounting for the ears hdjwjdjjejdke anyways, I don't really have many other little facts about them since they're basically just me personality-wise, so make of that what you will ! 1. Are you named after anyone?

No, but my parents are The Epitome of scatterbrained scientists so. It is very possible I am and they just never told me.

2. When was the last time you cried?

Uhhhhhh good question I don't remember. I almost cried when @freizusein picked me up in the middle of my Odyssee to grant me heat asylum in her apartment a few weeks ago, does that count?

3. Do you have kids?

I call my houseplants kiddies. In other words no.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

No, I don't, but people think I do bc apparently I have a tone?????? Please know if I ever asked you something sarcastically and you thought it was an excellent joke - I was serious and I'm still waiting for my answer.

5. What sports do you play/have played?

Team sports? Soccer in elementary school. Am not a fan of collective excersice unless we're talking (ballroom) dancing.

6. What's the first thing you notice about someone?

VIBES. My Freitagsstammtisch can attest to that I've been complaining about someone at uni all year based on a 5 sec interaction and it took me multiple days to even notice they have very very prominent tattoos.

Greenish - brownish.

Ohhh boy. Charming older (as in your grandma older) women. Especially antiques dealers. Got a deal on some very nice brass pendants when I was in Leipzig the last time just by being me and looking a little bit sad. I was once gifted a whole ass diamond ring on the street by a woman wearing a fur coat in 35° weather. I have had MULTIPLE elderly women come up to me when I was walking the dog UNPROMPTED and tell me about their dog who recently died. Last time I went to my local antiques shop I was offered 100€ discount on a ring I was looking at within 5 mins of walking through the door, and I hadn't even brought up the price yet.

Also I am unfairly good at doing things, especially art related things, perfectly after watching someone do it once. Was very surprised in 4th grade when I realized not everyone can weave a whole 12cm Perlenarmband with design in 45 mins on their first try.

10. Where were you born?

In a town with a MASSIVE causewayed enclosure. I'm talking multiple trenches multiple ha crop mark visible over 3 different fields.

Ceramics (looking at, sorting, reading about, counting, collecting thereof), churches (insert "I just think they're neat!" having time to make breakfast. i know this sounds silly but routine helps my Bad Brain lots and i can't bear that rushed "get ready, eat whatever, leave asap" lifestyle. i am 90% more likely to have a bearable day if i have time to make breakfast slowly and just really appreciate how joyful the gurgle of the coffee machine, the popping of the toaster or the sizzling of the frying pan are. (yes, i was being that transparent when i wrote that one fic about the sounds of breakfast lmao)

my dog the babiest of all babies, the reason i get up in the morning (i mean, quite literally, because he will cry from his crate until i take him out if i accidentally sleep in). bonus points to him because he's wearing his wee raincoat for the first time this season today and he looks so fucking miserable about having to go out in the rain, it's hilarious

sitting in the sun vitamin d, baby!! i am super lucky to live somewhere that gets a fair amount of sunshine, even through the coldest days in winter and just getting a wee bit of sun on my face makes such a massive different to my days, it's like bloody magic

So much of my writing at the moment is unpublished or in wip stage augh I wanna talk about it all so bad... but until then I'll speak to cheesecake since there's a lot of behind the scenes content there that no one has asked me about 🤔

Firstly, all the locations in this fic are real and are portrayed as closely to real life as possible - I made sure to stare out the window on the way to work to observe what the environment was like at this time of year on the train line, and I've eaten all the food that Cody and Obi-Wan share. The two bubble tea orders at the start of the fic (brown sugar and peach/passionfruit black tea with coconut jelly and popping pearls) are my two preferred bubble tea orders, depending on what mood I'm in. Cody's astonishment is MY astonishment as to how many bubble tea shops are on George Street these days... and literally they're all different chains too, who knew that there were so many options out there.

Sydney's tram network was recently completed, and it's not a bad way to get around the city if you're just moving around the CBD. Obi-Wan's tourist energy comes from all the classic tourist traps around Sydney, including the QVB and the Harbour Bridge (and Australia's golden beaches 😂).

I've done the Bridgeclimb (you can see their website here) and it was a present that I did on my birthday too actually, and it was really fun! I had a good day to do it, and it was neat to get that type of view on the Harbour Bridge, which I've only ever driven across beforehand. I gave Cody and Obi-Wan that experience along with some of the fun facts that our guide told us while we climbed, as well as the strange feeling of being in the guts of the bridge while hundreds of cars pass over your head/around you as you climb up the ladders. It's so strange to think that they were building all that so long ago (it's nearly 100 years old!!) and it's still standing and serving Sydney's traffic. I'm very glad the guy who designed it made it 8 lanes even in the 1920s, VERY good foresight demonstrated there LMAO

The callout to the Chinese Gardens are also from my personal experience of going there as a kid - my dad really loves them, and I'm fond of them and their giant koi ponds myself. And finally, the star of the fic - the cheesecake!! I had to put off writing this until I got my hands on the cheesecake from Uncle Tetsu's that new-anon and thegreencarousel were insisting that I try, but that research was definitely worth it 😤 I would definitely rec these cheesecakes.

I (unfortunately) do not live in Richmond, but I've visited a friend who lives in the general area there often enough that everything to do with Richmond should also be accurate 🤔

The collar with the heart charm is also-- okay I'll stop speaking now 😂😂😂

hornet! she's my favourite character overall; there's something so uhhh poignant, i guess, about her character and her backstory and the way her whole life has been shaped by decisions other people made about her before she was even born and how all she can do in the face of that is to protect hallownest as best she can. like idk man i have a lot of hornet feels okay!! she is so brave and dutiful and tragic and i love her she is my daughter

in terms of boss characters i like just for being bosses, then my favourite would be the mantis lords! i like them i think they're neat i'd like to know more about them!!

16) how many hours have you played in your longest playthrough?

uhhh i decline to go check the actual number but definitely over fifty! maybe closer to a hundred, even? if i like a game i will spend an absurd amount of time playing that game, and by "playing" i mean "dicking around doing absolutely nothing".

the knight is a weird affectless cryptid and i will die on this hill. i love love love to play around with the concept of personhood & characters with a degree of ambiguity wrt how much "person" can even apply to them, so uhhh i have approximately zero interest in it whenever people treat the knight and their fellow vessels like they're just completely regular people who can't talk. no! that's the most boringest of all possible options!! get Weird with it!!!
