Sharpshooter Leafhopper (of the Genus Draeculacephala) in my backyard, July 2018. These Leafhoppers feed on grasses of various kinds. I'm unable to find the origin of the Genus name Draeculacephala, but "Sharpshooter" comes from two different sources. It refers to their feeding damage being like it was caused by tiny bullets (because of their piercing mouthparts). Decided to test how far my Lenovo A850's camera can capture a micro image without a micro lens. I wandered until I found this insect in my garden. Japanese Beetle (Popillia japonica) in my backyard, July 2018. These are Scarab Beetles which grow as grubs underground, feeding on the roots of grasses.
