i always loved cereal mascot ads and some i remember vividly were the rice krispies singing with the bars ads! as a kid i always had a preference for pop's songs first, then snap's, and tbh i never really liked crackle's, however i've discovered the full songs and now many of crackle's songs are actually my favorite of the trio's đ

I think I want you too
Best day of your life- yeah, what a fucking joke. But what were you expecting? Ditching people at the altar seemed to run in the family. Okay, maybe that was a bit of a harsh assessment of the Peñas, especially Peña senior, who, despite all you had heard of him from your ex fiance, had always shown you kindness.Â
The thing is, it becomes really fucking hard to be charitable to a family when their son humiliates you infront of the entirety of Texas. Leaves you high and dry on the steps of the biggest church in town in your great grandmotherâs silk dress. It becomes even harder when you learn his mother had been in on it all along, sparing you not even a little apology, or a comforting embrace after her son's little getaway plan had been revealed.Â
Instead of extending you a supporting hand, she ran away to make sure her baby boy was okay, and that this entire ordeal hadnât taken a toll on his emotional and psychological well being.Â
How thoughtful.Â
Of course, you were the pathetic oneâ unable to look anyone in the eye, sobbing on your fathers shoulder till you couldnât breathe any longer. So distraught and unwell even getting out of your wedding attire seemed impossible. It only made you feel even more pathetic. At some point you ended up curling up in your hotel bed, still in the âhappiest day of your lifeâ outfit, and pleading for some time alone from your friends and family to wallow in your own suffering.Â
You would eat your feelings in the from of the apology chocolates the hotel had complimented for you, but you couldnât manage to even do that without feeling like a total fucking looser.Â
After all that had transpired, and after years of hearing nothing but sour things about your soon to be father in law, safe to say you were surprised to see him at your hotel room door at midnight as the ambassador the family seemingly sent to smooth things over.Â
For it being only your second time meeting the man, this was far from the most opportune scenario. In fact, him showing up all sorrowful and apologetic for his shitty excuse of a son, in his navy blue suit and loose tie, made your already pathetic day all the more difficult to get through.Â
Your whole relationship you had blamed every fault of your boyfriend on his absent, detached father. Youâd heard plenty about the lack of childhood visits, quality time, and playing soccer that had plagued your partnerâs life, and had found it quite easy and comforting to pile on every relationship problem you ever came across as the consequence of Javier Peñaâs lack of responsibility and good parenting.Â
What you didnât expect, was to find that Javi Peña was a whole lot more normal and level headed than you anticipated. He was just a guy trying to make a good living and provide for his family. Sure, he was a little bit reserved, but he was only ever warm and sweet and even quite chatty with you. To be frank, you should have seen your boyfriendâs shitty behavior as a consequence of his insufferable mother from a mile away. God knew you werenât expecting Peña Sr. to be the better of your two soon to be in laws.Â
That being said, you would have never expected to be on your hands and knees, on what was supposed to be your marital bed, being pounded from behind by your ex soon to be father in-law.Â
Because that's where you are now, eyes rolling to the back of your head thanks to the most intense pleasure you've ever felt. The drag of Javis cock against your walls has been building a steady heat in your belly, the stretch of him so perfect and delicious it has you pushing your hips back to meet his every thrust.Â
Any other day a man like him wouldnât have needed much to woo youâ with his cut jaw, handsome features and those chocolate brown eyes you wished his son had inherited. Safe to say on a day like this one it took even less, just a few rubs on your back, a hand smoothing over your head and trailing down your waist, a few âpretty girlsâ and âpoor thingsâ and some fucking sympathy from someone from your boyfriends sorry family.Â
Fucking pathetic.Â
But Javier knows his son is pathetic, knows he is a good for nothing moron who doesn't even know what he was losing out on when he walked out on you.
âHeâs a fuckin fool- look at this tight little pussy, squeezinâ me so fuckin good. Bet he didnât fuck ya like this, huh baby? Didnât make ya cum over and over, make ya scream⊠stupid fuckin boy..â Javierâs grip on your hips tightens on hearing your moan, and he curses under his breath when your pussy flutters around his cock.Â
Your legs are threatening to give out under you, your knees tender from how long you've been leaning on them. Javierâs hand moves to grip the fabric of your veil, using it to pull your head back and make you face the mirror that's been teasing you all evening. âLook- Look at ya- fuckin cryinâ on my cock. âS the only reason yaâ shouldaâ be cryinâ in this pretty dress..â With drooping eyes you're faced with your own reflectionâ stains from your mascara running down your face now less thanks to the sorry of the afternoon and more thanks to the way Javiâs cock has been nudging your sweetspot.Â
You watch your tits spill out of your beautiful silk dress, the fabric now disheveled and a far cry from the sophisticated, simplistic garment it once was. You can barely recognise it, but then again you can barely recognise your own reflection. âLook at that pretty little body- fuckin made for me.âÂ
âYours-â you cut yourself off with a gasp, Javiâs hands squeeze your hips and your cheeks set ablaze at the way he looks at you when you catch it in the mirror. The whole sight is so debauched and depravedâ you on your hands and knees for a man who could easily be mistaken for your father. But somehow it's even dirtier- the possibility of your ex finding out sends you into overdrive.Â
The silk of your dress brushes against your hot skin, flipped lewdly up to reveal your bare ass, bunched at the waist, the straps drooping and threatening to fall. Javi pulls the zip down even further, watching as it hangs off your body, draped like fabric from a 15th century painting.Â
Javiâs voice calls your attention back to the present moment, lewd words showing you he doesn't hold back the way his son does. âGonna fill this tight little cunt up..â The stretch is so delicious between your legs, you feel the steady throb continue to tighten the coil inside you and you canât help but moan. âYeah, you want that? Want daddy to put a baby in you?â the thought makes you shiver, that name makes you shiver, has your cunt clenching around his cock. What an image- you, belly round with your father in laws child, well, your ex father in law. Unlike his son you were sure he would be the perfect husband, would bend you over ever surface in your picket fence house and fuck you just like heâs doing now.Â
Deep, and hard and fast, just like you need it. Just like you've always needed it..Â
âPlease daddy, want your babies, wanna be yoursâŠâ Your voice is so broken and wrecked you're afraid he canât understand what you're even saying. To be honest you canât be bothered much, it feels so good, his thick, hard cock feels so good pounding between your thighs there's little else you can keep your mind on.Â
âYeah? you like that sweetheart? we can play house..â you nod your head and his hand tightens its grip around your veil, exaggerating your movements, bending you to his will. âWanna play house with daddy? can be my pretty little wifeâ you fist the sheets, pushing back against him with his every thrust. You do want that, youâve always wanted that. And what better person to do it with. Sure, his wife always complained about how he was never around, but that's looking a lot more like a her problemâ especially with the way Javiâs tip continues to kiss your sweet spot.Â
âYes daddy, please..â Â
Javier lets go of your veil, and pushes his palm between your shoulder blades, forcing you down into the mattress till your cheek is pressed against the warm, fluffy duvet. One hand keeps you there, the other lands a quick spank to your ass and kneads at the flesh with a newfound desperation. âWon't be able to even say his goddamn name after I'm done with ya. Stupid boy doesnt know how to treat a pretty thing like youâ so sweet, so gorgeous, so fucking smart. Too fucking good for him.âÂ
With your lips parted and breathing heavy you drool onto the covers, letting Javi pound you into the mattress and overshadow every other thought that dared cross your head earlier in the day. If his plan is to make you forget about anything that isn't him, it sure is working. You don't think youâd even want to sound out his incompetent sonâs name after heâs done with you.Â
As if he can read your mind his voice calls from behind you. âWant ya to be drippin with me.â the wet schick of his cock fucking into your tight, wet, hole reminds you of just how needy you are for him, and the prospect of having him dripping out of youâ down your thighs, between your legs, leaving you all messy for him to come back and do it all over again, drives you absolutely insane.Â
âHeâs fuckin useless, just like his ma. But look at you, so fucking tight âround me, making all those pretty sounds, she fuckinâ wishes she was you.â His words have your cunt squeezing around his cock, and a lewd, pornographic moan slipping past your lips. âMy girlâs gonna be the perfect lilâ mamma, arenât ya, so fuckinâ pretty.â You would certainly like that- in fact youâre almost surprised with how appealing it sounds to you.Â
âGonna be perfect for you daddy, only for you.â your dress rides up even further, the front slipping further down.Â
âThats my fucking girl.â That growl of his sends shivers down your spineâ possessive, and confident and dripping like honey from his lips. It was almost like it could send you over the edge by itself. The lewd creaking of the bedframe fills the room, the sound of skin on skin driving you wild. The way he handles youâ firm and deft but gentle and passionate, it's nothing like his son.Â
Heâs nothing like his son.Â
âYeah, bet it feels good donât it, beinâ fucked by a real man? Feel daddy so deep in ya? Nothin ever been that deep before, huh..â You shake your head ânoâ and he coos at how pathetic you must sound, barely able to make a coherent sound, forget string together a whole sentence.Â
âMake me go fuckinâ crazy, babygirl.âÂ
What he says is fucking filthy, thereâs no denying, no justifying it. It makes you squirm, makes you even wetter, makes you want him even more.Â
âThink you wanna go back to him? With daddyâs cum drippin between those pretty thighs, show him how a real man treats his girl?âÂ
âGonna make ya beg him to stay, gonna talk some sense into him, just so daddy can have ya all to himself, ain't that right? You gonna sneak into daddyâs room in the middle of the night? All wet anâ achy? Begginâ daddy to fuck ya how ya need?âÂ
âWanna run away with me baby, live in a perfect little house, let daddy give ya his babies, fuck ya fullâve my cum every single night?âÂ
His hands roam your body, smoothing over your hips, reaching forward to squeeze at your breasts, pinching and kneading the flesh. He bends down to trail light kisses along your spine and the feeling is like nothing youâve ever felt before. Your head twists side to side against the sheets as you squirm, each sensation like it's heightened to the maximum, the heaviness and the throb between your thighs at an all time high.Â
You know you're close, you canât hold it off much longer. Your cunt squeezes and your toes curl. You also know Javi won't last, you can feel him pulse against your swollen walls, can feel the way he desperately thrusts into you, pushes you further down against the mattress, grips your skin with that renewed fervor, with the desperation of doing anything to hold on to the incredible sensation.Â
âCome for me, babygirl, come for daddy, show daddy how much ya needed this, show daddy how bad ya need his cock.âÂ
Your legs part even further under you, if that's even physically possible, your entire upper body being smashed into the mattress. You call out Javiâs name, followed by a string of desperate, strained, whiny daddy daddy daddyâs.Â
With a strangled moan that's partially muffled by the covers you come undone, your head spins and your heart pounds in your chest, you feel yourself gush and clamp down around his cock. You feel Javiâs hips stutter behind you and his cock throb against your wet walls. The feeling only prologues and intensifies your orgasm, your body going slack and eyes rolling back into your head.Â
âPlease daddy, need your cum, please, give it to me..âÂ
Javiâs groans catch your attention as you come down from your high, still reeling from the aftershocks when you feel his cock twitch inside you and paint your walls with his hot spend. Your words are strained and slurred, but they clearly get the job done. You shiver and press your ass back against him to meet his stuttery, sloppy thrusts, and bite your lip when you feel him tighten his grip on your hip, feel him land a final spank to your ass for good measure as he slows down.Â
You keep your ass in the air, face still pressed against the mattress as Javi pulls out. You hear him mutter a few strained curses under his breath as he does, and catch him looking between your legs to see his spend obscenely leak out of your used hole. He reaches his fingers to rub against your messy folds and you whine, feel him gather up your juices and push them back inside your cunt in a way that has you almost cumming right there again.Â
Your dress is still pooled at your waist and he unzips it entirely, sneaking his hands under your thighs and flipping you over and yanking you towards him.Â
âYou really want daddyâs babies?â Your head falls back against the bed when you feel his hand cup your cunt, rub your messy, swollen folds with the calloused tips of his fingers. You barely manage to nod.Â
âThen I ainât done with ya yet pretty girl.â You tilt your chin to catch his gaze, now in nothing but your stupid little wedding veil. Youâre not sure about the best day of your life, but this sure as hell contends for one of the best nights.Â
You can be my daddy tonight-night-night
I'm neon phosphorescent
Open like a Christmas present, oh
You can be my daddy tonight-night-night
If you're seeking heaven
Then you wanna come and get it alright
Be my daddy tonight
What's up what's up
What's up what's up
Be my daddy be my daddy
Be my daddy be my, be my daddy tonight

ⶠdamnation [ the praetorian imp ]

â Characters: Ortho Shroud, Idia Shroud.

The Raven Retainer  |  The Praetorian Imp  |  ???
Cold metal. There was a slight weight on the top of your skull, like the heft of a circlet. Carefully reaching up, your fingers touched thin cold metal, but as you tried to gingerly remove it, it failed to come off. Gentle tugs become harsh pulls, but that only serves to form an ache in your head as if you were pulling on your hair. Was it some sort of deadly contraption placed on prisoners? Was this how they wanted you to die? By crushing your skull with this thing?Â
âWhâ Where am IâŠ?â
As you stumbled over your own two feet, you stopped yanking on the metal on top of your cranium. Fear took root as you absorbed your surroundings, dark and unfamiliar, those same qualities as the jail cell but this was unlike any prison. There were high walls with columns of gray and silver and gold, arched ceilings that were mixes of blues and grays and blacks which almost looked like painted murals that had been smeared across the surface. The floor was freezing like cement, but it was a smooth polished dark gray. With at least two floors, the second was accessible by some wide curved stairs which lead to more of the unknown. Your voice echoed in the space, leaving you to believe you were completely alone.Â
Skull-crushing could still be on the list of possible ways to die. Or would your punishment be isolation? Complete solitude was known to drive people insane. It didnât even seem like a single soul alive was here, leaving only the sound of your heavy breathing in the otherwise unsettling silence. White flowers from large vases wilted, their petals suspended gray and limp like hanged bodies.
On the floors you nearly slip and hit your head, but you manage to grab a nearby column that was as thick and sturdy as an old oak tree. Thatâs when you caught sight of your reflection in a nearby huge vase coated with a reflective exterior. You were staring wide-eyed at an unfamiliar figure, so odd that it took a moment to register that it was truly you.Â
A long black cloth with dark blue meander borders acted like a shirt or a robe, wrapping over one shoulder and extending in different directions to act like a small cloak and cover part of your legs. From your hips to your ankles covered by part of the top cloth, were a pair of black pants with more blue meander borders decorating it. They were like modern day sweatpants and an ancient palla all in one outfit, which you mightâve admired if you werenât currently filled with confusion and dread. That metal object on your head was like a headpiece, with two long thin black protruding pieces slicked back that glowed a slight blue. Like a demonâs horns. Impossible to remove.Â
You resembled a demon with these horns, a devilish little imp. When your eyes adjusted, the reflective surface of the vase was painted. Painted black and browns, like the famous Athenian ceramic styles with figures of black and brick red. Except, each vase depicted a different scene. A powerful muscled figure standing proudly and holding a bolt of lightning; a baby strangling two large snakes; a young scrawny individual training beside a satyr and a pegasus.Â
âGetâ these offâŠ!â
An imp⊠you were an imp! Horror spread across your features, and the constant tugging to remove the metallic horn-like objects from your skull served pain stronger than a slap, to let you know that this was no dream. The judges had cast the final verdict, and as soon as you arrived you were destined to live as a miserable little creature to serve a higher being. A god.Â
A God of the Underworld, that wielded the deadliest of blue flames and kept all souls contained within his land of misery. A being of divinity who envied his family and others who dwelled high in the clouds of Mount Olympus, so he planned meticulously for years to lay siege to the mountain by freeing titans who would wreak havoc across the globe. Just as he sits on the throne where the God of Thunder and King of Gods once dwelled, the human son of that royal god arrived to face the dark god. That gloomy and dreary antagonistic entity had three main underlings, two of which were imps he regularly abused and tormented.Â
Maiming, wringing their necks, burning them in blue fire, those were just some of the torture those imps faced at the hands of their master. You felt yourself fall to your knees in a heap, like a rag doll, by the overwhelming emotions weighing in your mind and the now new burden of survival on your shoulders. This was hell, literally. So caught up with this newfound revelation, that you didnât even notice the vases become blank as if by magic, wiping the depicted scenes off their surface. Hallucinations!Â
These mustâve been hallucinations formed by your unstable mindââ You were especially sure of it when it felt as if the ground vanished beneath your feet and were surrounded by dark mists. The dark and elegant place you had once stood in, was gone, and you plunged into a dark pit. A small plunge, then you fell on rocky uneven earth, leading you to fall flat on your face. There was hardly any light, and the ceiling was low. But, there was a blue flame, a small glow to which you opened your eyes to.Â
In front of you was a young boy that looked more akin to an android. Surely, another illusion, but your certainty wavered when it blinked at you. It blinked with its wide bright yellow eyes. Its eyes were like a light, as was its hair made of what seemed like real blue flames that was like a torch in this small cave. Its body was dark and metallic, part of those metals extending over the mouth like a mask. âThere you are! I was beginning to wonder if you chickened out. Are you ready to put on a show? Remember, we gotta make it believable, the hero wonât be the only one there! We gotta trick all the humans!âÂ
âW-WhatâŠ?â You watched as the android-like being opened up a hologram in front of him, and on the screen of light were various shapes and figures of numerous creatures and people alike.Â
Whatever this thing was, its voice became monotone for a brief few seconds as its pointer finger landed on the image of a normal young boy. âSelecting⊠Loading⊠Finalizing appearance.â In an instant, a light flashed over him and he became that little boy in the hologram. âWhat do you think? Pretty convincing, huh? Now, your turn!â
If you squint, it was like peering through glass, because at some angles you could still see the android. However, you had absolutely no time to question it, or the situation at hand, or what he couldâve possibly meant, because the quiet was shattered by the squeal of what sounded like a horse.Â
Scrambling onto your feet, you approached the thin tiny opening where light filtered in, far too small to squeeze past but just big enough to peer through. It took a few spare seconds for your eyes to adjust to the light of the outside on this cloudy day, but you could make out high rocky cliffs as gray as the sky. And a white horse with wings, a pegasus, several meters away with two people. A young man in purple who looked quite ruffled and a muscular woman with auburn locks. You blanched upon recognizing the location.Â
The mighty hero was said to have fought his first life-threatening battle in a gorge, just like this one. It was a battle that nearly cost him his life. The human servant, obliged to serve the dark Lord of the Underworld, lured the hero to the gorge under the guise of an accident requiring urgent attention from a savior. The accident involved two children trapped under rubble where nearby the hydra lurked. And those two children? Were the two imps who also served the God of the Dead. One imp, you were one. And the other? Beside you now, which explained his matching metallic horns on his head. Meaning the hydra was near. Each breath you took increased in pace, on the very verge of hyperventilatingââÂ
âHelp! Hurry! We canât breathe!â The android boy cried for help, his little eyes peeking out of the same gap you were peering out of. Even his voice sounded different with whatever magic or technology he used to disguise himself. As the hero was running over and a crowd was forming a good distance away, your fellow imp looked at you and whispered in confusion, âWhereâs your disguise? You canât let her seeâââ
âGet me outâŠ!! Please! Anyone! Someone!â You gasped, suddenly realizing just how small it was underneath this massive boulder. It was a miracle it hadnât crashed down yet, killing you instantly like rock squishing an ant. But if the boulder didnât kill you, then the hydra would. And that was what terrified you, causing you to scream for help.Â
The young boyâs eyes brightened up, looking a bit taken aback at your volume before he grinned. At least, he mustâve been grinning, judging by the way his eyes lit up. Pausing his very loud pleas, he whispered in amazement, âWow, youâre really good at this acting!âÂ
You were not acting. Especially not when help arrived in the form of the protagonist.Â
Instead of a man as depicted in the stories, it was a woman. A woman with innocent blue eyes and a kind voice that attempted to ease the worries of what she mustâve thought were two poor victims trapped beneath debris from a rock slide. Her eyes darted from what she saw as a normal little boy, then over to you. âItâs okay, I promise youâll be alright.â Those eyes like the bright blue sky, softened with a hint of pity, maybe because you just looked that pitiful and on the verge of tears. Because you knew what monster would come lurking from the gorge just moments after you and the small horned being beside you are supposed to be saved.Â
Incredibly, with only a minimal amount of struggling, the hero heaved the boulder slowly above her head with her strong arms. Even though the rock was easily ten times her size, she raised it up high above her head, allowing you and the boy to scamper out of the pit. Managing a charming smile despite the tons of weight she was holding, she began, âHow are you holding up? Are you injured orâââÂ
Running. You were running. There was no way you would waste even a second here, and become a victim to that three-headed beast. It sounded like the hero had shouted something as you fled, and were followed by the android boy still in disguise as he called for you to wait up. Climbing, climbing, you took what looked like a thin path on a narrow cliffâs edge until you reached a hollow cavity hidden by shadows and boulders. By then you were out of breath, heaving, the ache in the back of your legs screaming from all that climbing and your lungs burning.Â
It seemed as if your torment was far from over. As your gaze traveled up, you stilled like a deer in the headlights. There, engraved within the very surface of the rugged stone walls, was a mausoleum that appeared to be left abandoned. Its smooth columns held up ledges, and at the very mouth of the entrance was a throne of pure stone occupied by a stranger. A stranger that looked eerily similar to the android that had been your company.Â
A figure who sat looking quite bored upon witnessing a mortal with inhuman strength. There were no words, but just by appearance alone you knew that this was the divine god that ruled the underworld. Fire, blue fire, ran from the top of his head down his spine and over thin shoulders. He was covered from neck to toe, completely in robes of dark blues and dull grays. Long sleeves with meander patterns extended to his wrist, and even his bony fingers were pitch black either due to the fabric of a glove or it was his actual skin, you couldnât tell. The himation, the cloth that pooled on the floor at his feet, was pinned by a brooch resembling a skull.Â
Chilling yellow eyes leered down at you, his blue lips pulled back slightly in a grimace to reveal unnaturally sharp teeth on his pale face. Under his judgemental gaze, you felt like a miserable little roach scuttering about underfoot. âThis isnât a theater, and youâre not Dionysus, tryhard. That was major overkill. You screamed so much I heard you loud and clear from all the way up here, pretty sure all those humans heard you.âÂ
In the blink of an eye, the androidâs disguise was gone and he floated beside you. Placing a gentle but cold metallic hand on your back, he eagerly piped up, âI think they did really good, brother!â Brother? The god, the villain of this story, was his brother? Certainly the resemblance was there between the god and the being in the role of the imp. âDid you see the look on the heroâs face, Idia? By my estimations, the act fooled all mortal onlookers!âÂ
Brother. But⊠that couldnât be possible. Now that you were high up beside the god, Idia is what your partner in crime had called him, you were no longer so fearful of immediately becoming the hydraâs next meal. That wouldnât happen, especially when according to the story, the lord of the underworld was the one who controlled the hydra. But now you were currently more concerned and fearful of the literal divine being sitting in front of you. The lordâs brothers were only supposed to be other gods from Mount Olympus, not a being that served him. What else was different about the story? More importantly, what would he do to you once he realized that you did not belong?
âOkay, fine. Stirring performance. Gets five stars from me. Definitely better than that uber cringe Oedipus play that came out a while back. Ortho, nice, you really played the cute little kid you gotta feel for, and youâŠâ Idia directed his attention to you, and you froze in place under his gaze as he sized you up. âYou actually werenât that annoying this time. So congrats, I guess.â He added dismissively, apparently bored with this prelude as the crowd of humans down below continued to clap for the protagonist that had just saved two souls from the boulders in the gorge. Then, his gaze traveled over to the shadows, on a small cliff where a figure you hadnât even noticed had been standing in silence. âAnd canât forget you. A thumbs-up for the leading guy. Even a girl like her canât resist you, huh, Meg? Talk about pretty privilege. It must be nice.âÂ
Startled slightly by the new presence, you glanced over, spotting a slightly familiar face looking over the cliff. It was that man who had been accompanying the protagonist. A fairly handsome looking man with brown wavy hair, in a purple chiton and baggy loose gray pants. Again, there was that modern style mixed with ancient, making you question what time this took place in. But that question was so insignificant compared to the rest of your worries, that it would be pushed to the very back of your mind.
Looking from Meg to Idia, you compare the two faces. The God of the Underworld certainly wasnât ugly, per say. In fact, he was ethereal in his own unique way. It was more of an acquired taste to appreciate the slight cheekbones, the aquiline nose, and the dim glow his fire blue hair provided in the dark space. He wasnât exactly the beauty standard that could be compared to a warm summer day, but cold rainy nights could be just as beautiful.Â
âWhat are you staring at? Can you not? Seriously, donât you know thatâs rude?â The god muttered in a near sneer, his gaze unable to meet yours. In fact, he appeared to be looking anywhere but at you. Like he was nervous. But what would a god have to be nervous about? âWhen I leave home, Iâd rather not be gawked at like some freak. I donât need another reminder.â
Embarrassment caused heat to creep up your neck and into your cheeks as you lowered your head swiftly in an apologetic nod. With your eyes now glued to the ground, you didnât lift your head even an inch. It was a mercy that he didnât appear to be a wrathful god. Cruel, perhaps, but apparently not quick to violence. If he was the hostile type, the last thing you would probably see was his calming blue fire turn an angry red before your body became nothing but ashes in the wind and your soul joining the countless in the river of the dead. In an effort to appease him so he wouldnât believe you were staring for the wrong reasons, you began hesitantly, in a nervous tone, âI-Iâm sorryââ I was staring because, well, you talk as if y-you didnât have that specific privilege either.âÂ
Because you kept your head down, you failed to see all three of them, Ortho, Idia, and even Meg whipped his head around to stare with their own forms of shock as you snapped your mouth shut. There was no room to question what was said and done as a tense sort of silence settled in the air.Â
âNot funny, didnât laugh. I had no idea the role of jester was just taken up. Last I knew, we still had that position available. Guess I was wrong.â He replied, unamused, and surprisingly not offended. At least he didnât seem as if he was about to smite you for offending a god. It was jarring how lax he was, but he spoke with bitter sarcasm which actually hurt. âIf I wanted a laugh, Iâd probably watch you snivel and cry again, but honestly itâs way more pathetic than funny so thereâs really no point in it unless I want to remind myself that thereâs someone within a ten foot radius whoâs giving me a run for my money in the pity department.âÂ
âI donât think any of you are pathetic or pitiful.â Ortho chimed in, throwing in his two cents on the matter. To which the god only glanced at. âShall I search our records for the soul of a successful jester? I believe we may have a few that once served kings in past centuries?âÂ
With a wave of his hand, he dismissed the motion while propping up his elbow on the armrest of the stone throne. âNah, donât bother, none of them are that funny anyways. Itâs not worth the effort of fishing them out of the river of souls. Once we secure our win, then maybe Iâll consider it when the muses run out of jokes to tell.âÂ
The muses? Did he plan to use those divine beings as servants once he conquered Mount Olympus?Â
âUh, you can scram now? I know your soul is probably drawn to the company of other mortals like pretty-boy Meg over there and that schlemiel Heraclea.â Idia scoffed, looking a bit bitter. Although, maybe that was his natural expression along with the constant gloom that seemed to permanently linger around the divine being. He rolled his eyes, murmuring the word so it sounded like an insult, âMortals.âÂ
âT-Then⊠Iâll talk to Meg.â You kept your head down both out of respect and out of fear. Even if this supposed god was nowhere near as frightening in appearance as you had originally imagined, he was still a god capable of things you could never imagine. Better safe than sorry.Â
There was no chance to add anymore, since a hiss and the screams of terrified people filled the gorge. The massive serpent slithering out from its hidden den screeched as a storm brewed. The beast was probably more horrifying than any creature from nightmares youâve dreamt, and thankfully you werenât one of the many mortals down in the pit where they were within striking distance.Â
As all this unfolded multiple levels down in the pit, you cautiously made your way to the edge beside the human who served the god, seeing that the Lord of the Underworld had grown bored of the ridicule and decided watching the death match was worth his attention. Of course you knew how the battle would unfold. The hero would struggle against the massive scaled beast, before beheading it, only to be faced with numerous more heads that resulted from each slice. In the end, the warrior would prevail, beaten and bruised, but alive and hailed as a hero by the townsfolk. However, watching it all transpire in real time right before your very eyes, brought a newfound level of anxiety.Â
That hero attempted to regain her confidence, but her maneuvers were awkward and unsure when faced with her first real threat. Each movement was just barely enough to save her from the snapping jaws of the currently single-headed hydra. Each swing of her blade met its equally sharp fangs, and clashed like two swords. Watching the scene beside you, was that human, the character that was to be the love interest of the hero.Â
Meg watched with furrowed eyebrows and crossed arms, looking both anxious and displeased. So quiet that it was easy to miss over the sounds of people in chaos and the snarling of the hydra, he murmured, âI donât know what your angle is, but it wonât work.âÂ
Averting your attention away from the spectacle below, you slowly turned your head to the man. âIâm sorryâŠ?â What was he talking about? Angle? There was no angle. Right now you were just trying to survive, nothing more, nothing less.Â
âDonât play stupid, you sleazy imp. Complimenting him? Of all people? Even Iâm not desperate enough to sweet-talk him like that. Heâd see through the ruse anyways.â He hissed, glaring at you with those odd violet eyes that momentarily stopped at you, then his superior, back to the gorge. âHeraclea shouldâve dropped that boulder on you to squish you like the insect you are.âÂ
At that mental image you nearly flinched. When his gaze glanced over at that god and his younger brother, your eyes followed. The android boy was peering down at the gorge, clapping his hands excitedly as if he was spectating some game instead of a deadly match. The god was still on that cold stone throne, grinning as he lounged as if he were at home kicked back on a couch. When those otherworldly yellow eyes met yours and his grin faltered, you tensed up before diverting your attention back to the nail-biting action.Â
Anxiously you twiddle your thumbs. Heraclea⊠So that was the protagonistâs name. You shuddered to think of what would become of you should she one day think of you as an enemy and not as an innocent person to be saved. Were you someone to be saved? Yes. Innocent? No, not exactly. Although, if the Lord of the Underworld managed to successfully conquer Mount Olympus, wouldnât that mean he would bring his servants to that safe haven in the clouds too? All the other gods would be imprisoned, even the mighty God of Thunder who currently ruled over the mountain. Mount Olympus was high in the clouds, it was practically heaven. You would be safe there.Â
Eventually, Idia would acquire titans, each with astounding elemental powers and then some. Each and every god had fallen in defeat against the titans, all save for the God of Thunder and his son who defeated them, now daughter in this case. And the only reason the hero had regained their strength to defeat the titans, was because his love, Meg, had gotten injured. If Meg was kept safe, then he wouldnât have ever had his strength returned to him, meaning he never wouldâve been able to stop the siege on Mount Olympus. Certainly it would allow you to be safe and alive, perhaps even served by gods and goddesses, so long as you heed Idiaâs every word. And a piece of the key to that future, stood right beside you.Â
Clearing your throat, you nearly felt sick when you watched as Heraclea finally beheaded the beast, and the hydraâs body went limp against the relieved cheers of the townsfolk. The calm before the storm. At that moment, you struggled to find something to say. âIs⊠Is it because I didnât compliment youâŠ?â Why was he so harsh towards you? Actually, scratch that. It was obvious there were trust issues there, and he wouldnât be too fond of one of the two that worked so closely with the god he sold his soul to. âNevermind, that was stupid thing to ask.âÂ
âYeah, it was. What a dope.â When he rolled his eyes, that was probably the sign to leave. However, your feet remained firmly planted. Even as he continued his degrading comments, âIt seems like every peloponnesian minute, you get more and more pathetic.â With a wave of his hand, he shooed you away with a scowl tugging on his lips. âWhy donât you go join the watch party with them?âÂ
It was quite morbid to see the Lord of the Underworld and his younger brother appear quite enthusiastic when the decapitated beast suddenly started moving and sprouted three heads within a single second. The duo were raving about something you couldnât hear due to the wind and rain that had picked up. They remained under the hollowed stone, keeping them dry. However, Meg continued to stand beside you on the cliff, getting drenched with each drop.Â
Part of you considered just extending out your arm and pushing him over the cliff, but there was no use in that. Chances are, Heraclea would save him and Idia might not appreciate the fact that one of his best pawns was gone. And if Meg died from the fall, for what reason would the hero then later have to give up his powers if not to save the love interest? So, refraining, you instead unraveled part of the cloth around yourself to extend over his head like an umbrella.Â
â... Thanks.â The thank you was hesitant as he eyed you carefully, but at least he had the decency to be grateful. By now, it appeared as if the hydra had been slayed by falling rubble along with the hero, but you knew better. Without even looking at you, Meg repeated, âLike I said before, I donât know what you're up to, but keep me out of it.âÂ
âIâm just⊠trying to spare myself is all.â Your response held a much deeper meaning than he, or anyone else in this world, could ever know. To him, it just seemed like you meant standing by him to distance yourself from the god when the hydra lay buried and still while Heraclea emerged bruised but alive to a rapturous applause from the cheering far below.Â
You swore you saw the godâs blue hair spark red for a moment, the flames appearing to wave a little faster but he didnât make any motion to grab and burn anything with his bare hands. All he did was stand up and stalk off, and you were in no way tempted to elicit a worser reaction from him. Not when Ortho was unnerving you by how he stood still, his brows furrowed in disappointment with a tilt of his head as he watched the protagonist get showered in praise and thanks. Neither of them would you approach, even as a dark mist surrounding the ledge. When it was gone, you and the others were back in those dark hallowed halls from where you first arrived.Â
⧠ ⧠ ⧠ ⧠ â§
Staring at the ceiling. It felt as if you had barely slept, and you had no sense of the time as it was so dark in the underworld. All you wanted to do was sleep, sleep and never wake up to avoid this endless nightmare but all you could do was disassociate. And yet, you couldnât even be granted that small mercy of sleep. A coma would be a blessing right about now. However, all you could do was get lost in the painted and carved shapes and swirls, silently staring up blankly.Â
When you imagined the possibility of perhaps achieving paradise on Mount Olympus by assisting the Lord of Underworld receive an ending of his own, you had not accounted for just how long that would take. How long each venture and battle would add to each hour, how the days began to bleed together and feel like a blur. Especially with each task done, you came no closer to derailing Heraclea off her fast-speed track towards a good ending.Â
The Erymanthian Boar was a wild and tameless beast that became the main dish of a feast when it was shot by a bow and promptly cooked on a spit. The Nemean Lion was like a kitten compared to the heroâs strength, even its claws famed for breaking the sharpest sword were no match. The Stymphalian Birds were caught and caged like canaries by the protagonist on her pegasus. Nothing, not a single beast or creature alive stood a chance against Heraclea. You witnessed these defeats firsthand, as you and Ortho were often charged with freeing whatever beast was to be the next challenge in a setting like a city waiting to be saved by the famed woman.Â
And after each loss, you saw the same thing. Idia would remove a piece off a large board. Each piece was placed strategically, carved to reflect the appearance of each monster he controlled and wished to obtain. You watched as he flicked off the Erymanthian Boar, slapped off the Nemean Lion, melted the Stymphalian Bird to a puddle. You feared meeting a fate like that, at the protagonist or antagonistâs handsââÂ
âHey!! Guess what?âÂ
You hardly even moved, you didnât even make a squeak, all you did was flinch when the face of the android appeared above you. After the first dozen or so times he spooked you by just magically appearing like a ghostly apparition, it stopped scaring you so much. Especially because Ortho didnât want you dead. For whatever reason, he seemed strangely fond of you, perhaps because he thought that you were whoever you replaced as the role of his partner in crime. Besides, the one he wanted dead was the hero, he and his brother have made that much clear.Â
âNoâââÂ
âMeg recruited new pawns for Idia to use! Isnât that exciting? And these three are super strong! Thereâs the Minotaur, Miss Stheno, and a Griffin! We think that the reason the hero has been winning all this time is because sheâs only faced one enemy at a time. This is a game-changer, trust me!â Ortho took your hands in his cold metallic ones, his eyes shining as he whispered hopefully, âWeâre so close, I can feel itâŠ! Soon, weâre gonna be able to repay everything Idia ever did for us, by giving him Mount Olympus. Iâll be able to repay him for creating me, and youâll be able to repay him for reviving you!âÂ
That⊠was new. In all your time here, you had never once heard anyone mention a creation and revival. There was no way you could just up and ask. You were supposed to know this, and play the part. While Ortho was cheerful and bright, there was this ominous side of him and glint in his eyes. Along with his mechanical parts that pointed to the obvious, what he had just said mightâve confirmed it, that he was in no shape, way, or form, human.Â
âYeah⊠Iâm looking forward to it.â By now you knew the drill. Whenever Idia was plotting to use a new pawn, you and Ortho would have to go over details including where to release the enemies in a setting to wreck the most havoc and somewhere accessible to the protagonist. Sitting up slowly from the bed, you slid your hands out of his and used your palms to support yourself on the mattress. These next words, you would have to choose carefully. âOlympus for all that heâs done for usâŠâÂ
Ortho paused when he held up your bag, and he slowly tilted his head. He did it in a way that creeped you out, with those wide yellow eyes no longer sparkling so brightly. âOh, I mean, what heâs done for me. You can do this and Iâll forgive you for lying to me.âÂ
You stopped breathing and your limbs froze in place. You were staring down at the young boy for what felt like a prolonged hour in silence as the air became thick with tension, but it was only a few seconds. It took a few more seconds for you to breathe, to swallow the knot caught in your throat which formed a bubbling pit of dread boiling within your stomach about to make you sick. âW-WhatâŠ?âÂ
âYour heart rate has increased significantly, more so than usual. Ever since the hydra, Iâve noticed your vitals seem off. Of course, you have always been the nervous one, always panicking, but it seems more extreme now. So Iâve conducted some scans without your notice, and Iâve made an interesting discovery. The details within your current profile do not match the previously saved one.â With each word you could only stare in horror. How long has he known? Has he told anyone else? What would he do with this information now? What would Idia do if he knew? Each and every word was like a brick being added to a scale, tipping the balance further until you felt as if your very heart would stop. âItâs the weirdest thing. Itâs almost as if youâre a completely different person.âÂ
At that moment you just wanted to vanish, disappear like gray smoke, because youâre certain that even the Lord of the Underworldâs lackey brother can give you a crueler ending than being swallowed whole by the hydra or seen as a foe in the eyes of the hero.Â
Ortho remained still, his head still tilted. There was no blinking, he didnât even breathe. The voice that came from him was serious but quiet, âDo you want to be honest to me now? We were supposed to be a team.âÂ
The horns. Those cursed metallic horns, the one on his head and the matching pair on yours, a telltale sign that you were supposed to be a duo. Somehow your hands found their way to your skull, to the base of the horns. No matter what you did, yanking, sawing, thumping them against the hard floors, nothing ever affected them when you attempted to remove them during lonely nights.Â
âBreathe.â Ortho whispered, his eyes softening and brows furrowing slightly, as if he were looking at a panicked little beast fearfully curled up in a corner. You hadnât even noticed you were nearly hyperventilating until he said something. You recognized that look, one of pity. Why was it that you were so familiar and used to that look, but the one time you needed it during the trial, you were shown none? âIf I wanted you gone, we wouldnât be talking right now, you know that, right? You arenât them, and I donât understand it, but⊠you do good work. Help me understand you, and Iâll help you understand us. Okay?âÂ
Broken. You broke, like a dam cracking and crumbling, the bricks swept away in a rushing torrent of words and feeble attempts at explanation. It was clear that he had been expecting some resistance of some kind, but he received none. You recounted everything, from your trial to now, the fear youâve felt, your nightmares, the desperation to avoid a horrible end that you were destined to receive. Not divulging into the details, not mentioning the fact that this was like a story you knew. And finally, after everything was said, you wiped your teary eyes as you breathed the final words. âPleaseââ donât tell anyone. N-No one can know. Iâll do what you want, Iâll help you get your brother to OlympusâŠ! Please, all I want is peace tooâŠâÂ
Your fellow imp finally blinked, surprised and utterly taken aback by your rapid explanation and plea for secrecy. For a long moment, Ortho appears to scrutinize you. Who knew what was going on in that mechanical mind of his, what things he was realizing that were unseen by human eyes? Finally, he sat beside you. Well, almost, since he floated in the air in front of you, sitting on nothing but empty space. âHe doesnât want peace. Thatâs boring.âÂ
Swinging his legs lightly, he removed the metallic mouthpiece that concealed the lower half of his face. You saw⊠nothing out of the ordinary. He looked so much like a real boy that it was uncanny, save for the pointed teeth that were very much like Idiaâs.Â
Clearing your throat, you proceeded, âI-I donât care, as long as Iâm safe.âÂ
âI like it better when youâre honest.â Placing the metal mouthpiece on his lap, he continued to observe you before he gave you a smile. A real smile. Somberly he proceeded, âIdia created me with his own two hands, because his biological family alienated him. Every other god lives in those high mountains, where theyâre so close to the sunâs warmth and have an abundance of treasures! They never work, never worry⊠but not my brother. They forced him to live alone in this cold realm, to take on the responsibility of lording over the dead for all of eternity. So, eventually he brought me to life in this metal body. Then he chose a human soul to revive just so I wouldnât be lonely either. That human soul was you, or my friend before you, at least. But I think I like you better.âÂ
âYou⊠You do?âÂ
âYeah! I think my brother picked a really bad human soul. The one you replaced was scared all the time, like you, but they never got the job done right. I like you, because even when youâre obviously scared, you do what you have to, and you do it right.â His blunt and casual manner of speaking, combined with the fact that he was still swinging his legs as he floated off the floor, reminded you that he really was a child. Or at least, molded to be like a child. âDonât worry, I wonât speak a word about it to my brother. This doesnât affect his plans anyways. As long as you pinky promise you wonât lie to me anymore, and youâll still help!âÂ
When he held out a little pinky, you blinked slowly. Such a childish thing, a pinky promise, but your life would hang on the balance between two small interlocked bones. Your life, on nothing but a promise. Did you really have a choice in the matter? âYou swear you wonât tell anyoneâŠ??âÂ
âI swear! We Shrouds always uphold our bargain. Impâs honor!â His beaming smile could light up this entire dreary realm as you slowly wrapped your pinky around his and shook hands.Â
âBut⊠imps arenât very honorableâââÂ
âYeah, we are! I.M.P.â information management praetorians. We have to be honest, especially to each other, or how else will our team work?â Ortho argued, frowning lightly at the thought of being considered a liar. âAt least, we have to be honest to our own. When it comes to mortals that are not you or Meg, who cares?â He placed that metallic mouthpiece back on that covered the lower portion of his face, and he stood up from his chair of air. âCome on, letâs start walking. On the way, you can tell me something interesting that I donât know. I bet your world is so different! Tell me about it, please?â
⧠ ⧠ ⧠ ⧠ â§
This was your punishment, not from fate or the very hands that brought down the gavel then declared you were to be banished and die, but by Ortho. Orthoâs cruel little hands, who had tricked you into switching responsibilities for the day. Apparently he was still bitter that you had lied to him in previous encounters. What he hadnât told you was that his main task for the day was to accompany the Lord of the Underworld across the river of souls and to the mortal realm.Â
So now here you were, seated so awkwardly and stiffly on the small thin boat, nervously watching the grotesque faces of the dead as their souls were carried by the currents. You could only pray that the boat didnât tip over, because who knew what would happen to your mortal body if it fell in? It was likely mentioned in the story, but you couldnât recall exactly what it was.
Idia appeared relatively unbothered, standing at the very edge of the boat as a masked being made of metals and dark robes moved mechanically. The mechanical charon rowed the vessel to the other side of the river, and quickly you grew bored of their slow and repetitive movements. So you turned your gaze to Idia. You couldnât see his face, since his back was to you. All you could see was his glowing mane of blue flames waving lightly with the cold lifeless air. Abruptly, he turned his head and you saw his side profile. Those chilling unnatural yellow eyes glanced at you with a dull expression on his face, possibly sensing your stare, you quickly averted your gaze away. But it was too late, he had seen it.Â
âWhat is your deal? You have a major staring problem, imp.âÂ
âN-Nothing, nothing!â Rapidly shaking your head, you looked for an excuse, any excuse. Anything to save you from this embarrassment, or avoid the risk of angering him. You saw his anger in brief sporadic moments, but you did not want to be the source of those frustrations. Not after you saw how he burned those pawns on that beloved board of his. âI was just wondering⊠what exactly are we going to do in the mortal realm?â And more importantly, how chaotic would things get?Â
âTsk. Just monitor that lamebrain hero. Everyone like that has a weak spot. I mean, Prometheus and Epimetheus messed around with Pandora and the box thing, a bunch of the gods on Olympus got too involved in the Trojan War and in the end the Trojans bet on the wrong horse. All we gotta do is find her Achillesâ heel so to speak.âÂ
It was odd how in the original story, The Lord of the Underworld never quite acknowledged most of the gods. Except for the God of Thunder, who he held a clear distaste for. However, Idia spoke as if he knew all of them personally, which would make sense. But whenever he said their names, he frowned and seemed as if he werenât fond of any of them.Â
Seeing him roll his eyes, you glance at the charon who moved like a puppet, then back at the god. The silence was only temporary. Tucking your knees to your chest as you remain seated, you watch him as he continues to gaze out over the gray and lifeless realm that seemed to stretch on for miles and miles. Idia seemed like the solitary type, and if what Ortho said was true, than Idia would be alone. Clearing your throat, you inquired softly, âThe Trojan War⊠which gods were involved in that?âÂ
Upon hearing the inquiry, he paused but remained still. How many gods and humans and other beings had he known in his long immortal life? Probably too many to count. Idia remained looking away, as if he hadnât even heard your question, but he answered, âNot that it really matters, but too many. To call the entire ordeal messy would be a major understatement.âÂ
It sounded like one big trashy reality television show, except much more deadlier and the stakes were high. And yet, if his words were the truth, then he may have not had any part in the conflict. âAnd you didnât get involved?âÂ
âWhy would I? I have zero interest in the stupid pointless affairs of mortals.â Okay, so he was not a fan of mortals waging war or causing conflicts. That was good to know. âWhenever they start fighting, more of them end up down there, and itâs annoying. The only bright side of it is that I donât have to listen to all their arguing on Olympus.â
Carefully, you proceeded to ask, âSo⊠you donât like them? The other gods, I mean. Can you stand themâŠ?âÂ
âI canât stand any of those self-important deadbeats.â A deep frown dug into his lips, clear hatred shining in those tired eyes. Honestly, you couldnât even blame him. You would be equally bitter about practically being left to rot, to carry a burden for eternity all while everyone else who was supposed to stand beside you went to live lavishly in the clouds without a single care in the world, while their only worries were which mortals to support and pit against another like watching dogfights.
In a way, it felt like how the judges back in your home cast their judgment from aloft, and you were left alone to suffer for it. Unsure of what possessed you, you managed to ask, âWhat would you change? I mean, if you could punish them for wronging you, what would you do?âÂ
Leaning against the curved end of the boat, he situated his elbow atop the curve and propped up his head on his cheek. For a long moment he was quiet, gazing at you with those striking yellow eyes. Tired, he looked tired. And after centuries, thousands of years doing his work, who wouldnât be? âMake them suffer for the rest of eternity, just as they damned me to hell. Chains would be a pretty good start, to make them feel a tiny fraction of how it felt to be trapped. They killed that little smidge of hope I had a long long time ago, so Iâll be fair and return the favor by killing their little hero Heraclea.âÂ
Considering his response, you nod slowly. While morbid, his feelings felt justified. Had anyone else been in his position, they likely wouldâve gone insane. Maybe Idia wasnât completely sane in the first place, considering how alone he had been until the creation of Ortho and supposed revival of the person you replaced. What sane person would create a family and a friend for himself, just to try and end their loneliness?
âYou just focus your puny efforts on helping me change the world. When the titans are freed, everything will change. You can take that as gospel, or whatever.â Â
He returned his sights ahead over the river of souls, you suddenly remember what happens if a mortal falls into the murky depths. Their body is quickly drained of life, draining them like a grape dried to a prune, leaving nothing but a wrinkled corpse if the person stays in for too long. Itâs how the protagonist nearly met their end, and where the god before you is supposed to become trapped in complete darkness.Â
You watched, both intimidated and captivated as a wide toothy grin broke out on his face like he thought of something funny. He scoffed, proceeding with his words in quick succession, almost breaking out into a laugh. âThose unsuspecting dolts have spent so much time up in the clouds that the air pressure mustâve literally dimmed their common sense and cut off the oxygen from their brains. They wonât even see us coming! Ahâââ Freezing, his smile dropped instantly as he noticed your shock and he realized that he was allowing himself to speak more freely. Instantly he cut himself off, lowering his volume back down a few notches. Seemingly embarrassed, he partially covered his blue lips with the sleeves of his robes. âUh⊠That⊠What I mean to say is⊠unlike them, I actually take others into account. One god wonât take up space on that mountain, thereâs room for Ortho and a mortal too. To live however you want.â
That expression he had made, was it possible he was becoming more accustomed to you? Wait, no, he was just warming up to the role you played. Ortho had mentioned that you naturally acted just like the imp you had replaced. The Lord of the Underworld was just growing accustomed to the presence of the mortal soul of what he thought was the human he picked to become his lackey. That was all. Nothing more, nothing less. The god would never care for a mortal, not when he used the two humans closest to him, yourself and Meg, as pawns in a game to defeat the human hero, and the result without that hero would be mass casualties. As long as it wasnât you being tormented by the beasts Idia controlled or even the titans that would soon be free, you didnât care. Fate was dangling paradise atop a mountain behind golden gates right in front of you, and you just had to survive long enough to make it there. If only it were that easyâŠÂ
âHowever I wantâŠâÂ
âHowever you want,â Idia repeated, as the boat stopped and the charon froze in place at a rickety old pier. Just ahead on land was a cavern with the slightest bit of sunlight flowing through it. A possible path to the mortal realm? âCause I donât really care what you do then. Right now, hurry it up.âÂ
Carefully standing, you immediately jumped off the rocking boat, following the ominous divine being who ruled over the dead. Cautious to keep some distance so as to not be burned by his hair, you trail behind him. â... So⊠what exactly do I have to do this timeâŠ?â You prayed for an easy task, wanting to at least be out of a few mile radius distance from the hero.Â
âYou? Oh, nothing. A wimpy little imp like you wouldnât survive if you got too close to that hero. And really, I donât feel like going through the effort of finding another mortal to work for me. Not when youâre useful enough, I suppose. At least youâre better than the last imp.â He practically floated across the ground, the smoke following at his heels with every step he took.Â
At least youâre better than the last imp. When you heard those words, you froze in place, your feet stuck to the stairs. It felt as if your very heart had stopped, and your breathing had even come to a halt. There⊠werenât any predecessor imps in the story, were there? Noââ you wouldâve remembered such a crucial detail. So that could only mean that he knew. Somehow he knewââÂ
âI wouldnât do that if I were you.â His voice broke the silence, as he saw your foot inch back, as if wanting to escape back towards the river of souls. Maybe if you hijacked the boat, forced the charon to take you somewhere far far away from here. To another portal you could use to escape into the mortal realm, anywhere but here with him. The god that ruled over the dead could see the fear clear in your eyes. His gaze was cold, and he was frowning. âThinking of ending it all here?âÂ
Staring into his eyes, gazing right at him, was utterly terrifying now that you didnât know whether he considered you friend or foe. In the stories The Lord of the Underworld practically tortured his imps for sport, what if he did the same to you? You were no brother to him, you werenât even the original soul he handpicked! You only moved your head slightly, in the subtlest nod. You didnât want to die, but a quick and painless death by your own hand would be a mercy when compared to the horrors those pale boney hands of him would wrought.Â
âPfftâââ A toothy grin spread on his blue lips. The Lord of the Underworld actually smiled, and nearly laughed at your blunt response. He shrugged at your notion, and responded, âYouâre not special. Get over it. Donât even try to kill yourself, because I'll drag you straight out of the river and back here in front of me.âÂ
That was⊠extremely unnerving. As scary as death was and as much as you wished to avoid it at any costs, it didnât appear as if it would become some sort of sweet release. Not until he found you useless. You couldnât help but notice that he spoke much more⊠curtly than usual, as if ticked off by something.Â
By some miracle you managed to swallow your fear. Perhaps it was because he found you amusing that he allowed you a few more seconds of life, or maybe it was because he really had some kind of plan in mind for you. Which was worse? Spending your last seconds agonizing over how he would end you, or believe he may kill you only to put you through tasks that would make you long for death. Meekly you murmur, âN-Normal people donât say thatâââÂ
âIâm not a normal person, am I?â When he rolled his head to look at you, youâre reminded once again that he wasnât like you at all. Far from it. Piercing yellow eyes, blue lips, a mane of fire, these were just the physical traits. Idia was a god, older than you could possibly comprehend, and perhaps wiser than he let on. Despite his blunt and modern way of speaking combined with his lax mannerisms, he was still the Lord of the Underworld. And he could snuff you out with a snap of his fingers.Â
Whenever he looked at you a certain way, like he was studying you, reading your very soul, it made a chill travel down your spine and formed a sensation in your stomach that caused you to feel like hurling. You swallowed again, forcing yourself to avoid getting sick right then and there. You didnât know what he was seeing when he looked at you, and frankly, it was probably best not to know. âIf you think Iâm a poor excuse for a god, you can say it, you know.âÂ
Puzzled by the thought that he believed that was your opinion of him, you furrowed your brows, mentally recalling any recent memories that couldâve prompted him to think so. However, none came to mind. You didnât know whether to reply, or let him continue. Which would bring about punishment. âI never ever thought thatâŠ!âÂ
âHuhâŠâ Standing with his hands at his sides, his shoulders slightly hunched as he faced away from you. There were a few spare moments of a tense awkward silence before he continued, âOr⊠did you think I was stupid? I knew the whole time. You think I wouldnât recognize my own imp? Even the one I didnât really give a damn about?â
All you could do was remain still, as still as a statue. Never had you ever been this frightened before, not when coming so close to the overpowered hero with superhuman strength, or when you were underneath a boulder in the hydraâs gorge, or even when you were tasked with freeing multiple creatures of nightmares beside Ortho. Because yes, while all those beings and myths couldâve caused your demise in various horrendous and grotesque ways, Idia was on a different level. If he so wished, he could revive you and kill you again and again, trapping you in a continuous cycle of death and misery for all time.Â
Lifting one hand where small whirls of weak smoke swirled at his bony fingertip, the small cloud resembled the gray murky depths of the river of souls where the dead were the waves on the surface. He continued, while brooding, âWhen I plucked the original out of the river and revived them, I did it for one reason and one reason only. For Ortho, to keep him company. I didnât need anyone trying to annoy me, and the prototype was no particular help, youâre more like deadweight since Ortho can do your tasks all on his own. But he wanted a friend, and who am I to deny it? I chose the originalâs soul for flat and basic little traits. A dim, sorry, subservient little mortal. ExceptâŠâÂ
When he glanced over his shoulder at you, his yellow eyes glowed dimly and you couldnât discern his expression due to how the angle concealed the lower half of his face. Those eyes alone made you want to jump right into the river of souls, but you didnât want to test the theory if he actually forcefully dragged you out of certain doom. What was fairly certain was that the Lord of Underworld could most definitely create fates worse than anything the judges couldâve conjured up just for you. The only thing you could do was pray that he would be merciful. âPlease, believe me, I didnât want to lie to youââ!âÂ
âpLeAsE, bELiEvE mE, i DiDnâT wAnT tO LiE tO yOu.â Idia openly mocked you, even copying the way you would anxiously grip your hands together as if in a thoughtful prayer begging for mercy. âBut you did! Lucky for you, I didnât care for the original. And, itâs a hassle getting a new imp so you got stuck with me, just your luck. Poor sorry little imp, I almost feel bad for you. Almost. Not really though.âÂ
He⊠didnât care? Was this mercy? Or some odd form of it? He made no movements to end you right then and there, not seeming to be debating it.
âIâm not stupid.â He clarified with a scowl, and thatâs what made you realize that he was cross because you underestimated his intellect. Were gods truly so prideful? Maybe. It seemed so. And in the grand scheme of things, maybe he didnât care because this didnât affect his plans in the slightest. Why would a powerful immortal who rules over the deadâs domain, care for a human? âI donât care who you really are, as long as you stick to the script and make Ortho happy. Got it? If you do what you're told, youâll live.â
âO-OhâŠâ That wasnât even half as much as painful of a punishment as you expected it to be. Just donât underestimate him for his prideâs sake, and keep a solid friendship with Ortho. Noted. Those you could definitely do. âUm, thank you so so so much for sparing me your, uh⊠your most lugubriousnessâŠ?âÂ
His nose crinkled and he frowned at the horrid attempt at a title. âEw, stop that, donât be weird. Iâm not gonna kill you, that should be obvious even to someone stupid. And donât even think of calling me Lord, thatâs complete overkill. This isnât the Dark Ages. Just use my name, itâs not like Iâm gonna smite you for it. Just Idia Shroud.â

It was said that there were five stages of grief, and you had experienced all five since arriving. From the tiny voice in the back of your mind denying the reality of the situation, to the current state of acceptance to which you had no choice but to arrive at. With each passing night as you watched the planets in the sky like stars grow closer and closer to aligning, it counted down like the doomsday clock to your demise. If Heraclea didnât lose by then, you would fail. Idia would never claim Mount Olympus, and youâd meet a terrible end.Â
As you stared up at the planets, seeing they were so close to a perfect straight line, you became lost in thought. It became common now, where you would stare off into space, wondering if death would come to claim you and fearing in what form it may come, only to be forcefully brought back from that eternal slumber should Idia continue to breathe. Going over constant plans and ideas, that led to deadends. Because the hero was destined to win, she had the smarts and strength to do any feat once thought impossible. The only hope brought you back to the original plan, keep Meg safe once Idia struck a deal with Heraclea in which the love interestâs safety hangs in the balance.Â
That was the only way.Â
âAre you even listening?â Ortho inquired, slightly annoyed that you had just ignored everything he was saying. Hovering off the ground, he floated upwards a bit to be in your line of vision as your head remained tilted up to the night sky. The artificially generated blue flames on his hair swayed lightly, casting a gentle blue glow and the shadows outlined his metallic horns. Tilting his head, he stared at your eyes filled with despair just staring off into nothingness. âHelloooo? Come on, thereâs no time for mental breakdowns!âÂ
When he waved a hand in front of your nose, you blinked, snapping out of that despondent daze as you slowly turned your attention to the young boy in front of you. Seeing his face that looked similar to Idia was not doing anything to help your current state. âH-HuhâŠ?âÂ
How did he even find you at one of Idiaâs temples in the human realm? You had no idea. It was the easiest place to get to, considering all of the Lord of the Underworldâs mortal-made temples were accessible through the doors of his abode. Not that there were many of the temples, and the majority of them were abandoned inside the hollow cavities or caverns they were constructed in.Â
Ortho furrowed his eyebrows, as he floated back down towards the earth, now only hovering a few spare inches off of the ground. Whatever he was talking about before you began paying attention, was clearly no longer the topic of the conversation as he gazed at you quizzically. âWhat were you thinking about?âÂ
Was it really worth telling him? Ortho had constantly insisted that you were supposed to be working as a team, and for a while, you had. While he was an android boy, he was incredibly dependable. He possessed abilities and skills you couldnât even dream of achieving, and if anyone could help you while Idia dealt with leading the titans, it would be Ortho. However, whoâs to say that you wouldnât immediately be tossed to the side once you served this greater purpose as a step to assist the Lord of the Underworld in reaching the peak?Â
Your fellow imp gazed at you, blinking those wide yellow eyes that appeared so innocent. But you knew what Ortho was capable of, what he was willing to do for his elder brother. Lie, cheat, trick, murderââ and that was only scratching the surface. Well, maybe not outright lying, because he seemed so adamantly against it. âYou can tell me. Weâre friends, right? Iâve never had a real friend before, besides my brother, but friends are supposed to trust each other, right?â Gravity pulled him down, until he was right beside you, seated on a crumbling fallen column that was sideways on the floor. Small fingers reached for your long sleeve, slowly gripping it.Â
âRightâŠâ You exhaled, still debating whether this was a good idea or not. Part of you worried if he could even detect if you were lying, and so you decided it better not to risk it. At the worst, youâd be discarded and had to survive in an apocalyptic-like world once the titans were freed, but in the best case scenario, you would actually manage to succeed in assisting the antagonist gain a happy ending. The latter of which would effectively grant you a good ending as well. âT-These plans youâve been making with Idia havenât exactly been working, but⊠I think I know how thisâll play out in the end. Everything thatâs happening now is almost exactly like a story I knew from my home.âÂ
âIt is?â He brightened up, looking downright giddy as he jumped a few inches on nothing but air. Those wide yellow eyes of his that glowed like headlights, peered at you intensely as he exclaimed, âAnd you never told me! Well, how does it end? We could use this to our advantage in defeating the hero! With your help, we canât possibly lose! This came at a perfect time, just as we were running out of pawns to use.âÂ
With your hand so close to your mouth, you were debating whether to bite your nails out of pure anxiety or just clamp your fingers over your lips to shut yourself up. Instead, you opted to dig your nails into your palm and forced yourself to open your mouth. The words came out slow, like the painfully laggard pace of dripping water. âWeâre supposed to loseâŠIâve t-thought of everything to try and stop this story from dragging on for this long, but we keep underestimating Heraclea. Thatâs the issue. We forget that even though sheâs mortal, she still has part of the strength she would have if she were still a goddess. So thereâs no beating her, at least not fairlyâŠâÂ
Ortho leaned closer, hanging onto every single word. His little metal hands continued to cling to your sleeves. A silence lingered for a moment as he processed your words. âOkay⊠so we have to cheatâŠ? I dunnoâŠâÂ
âNot exactly. Weâre just⊠leveling the playing field. Yeah⊠Thatâs all weâre doing.â Nodding slowly, as if trying to convince yourself of this. Despite the Lord of the Underworldâs uncaring demeanor and your fellow impâs rather cruel ways, they were both honest. Idia kept his word, and Ortho told truths. âRight before the titans will be freed, the Lord of the Underworld discovers that the heroâs weakness isnât a physical one, itâs an emotional one. That⊠weakness is Meg. So the Lord of the Underworld pretends to kidnap the love interest, and offers a deal to the hero. I-If the hero agrees to give up their strength for twenty-four hours, Meg will be freed.âÂ
Like a lightbulb going off in his head, his blue fire hair sparked for a moment as he straightened up and exclaimed, âThat would work! But, wait a minute, if thatâs the real story, then what happens so we lostâŠ?âÂ
âI was just getting to that.â You assured him, your voice remaining quiet as if afraid of being overheard by any living creature in the vicinity. The temple was abandoned, and they were the only two living things for miles. âT-The hero agrees to the deal, under one condition. If their loved one is hurt, then the deal is off.âÂ
It clicked in his mind as he nodded in understanding. âOhhhhhhâŠâ The cogs turned in his mind, weighing the meaning of your words and what was supposed to happen. âYou mean Meg diesâŠ? Thatâs okay!âÂ
Your jaw dropped at the mirth in the android boyâs tone. Wasnât he supposed to be upset? Saddened? Did he not care at all for the human they occasionally worked with? It was true, half the time he was away on business trying to persuade other beasts to submit to Idia. âW-What? I thoughtââ I thought you would care!âÂ
âNot really. Itâs not really a secret that Meg doesnât care about me or Idia! Heâs kinda mean to me, actuallyâŠâ He sighed, averting his gaze as he murmured, âMortals are so complicated. I canât understand them, and my brother says theyâre all the same! Well, almost all of them. I get you, and Idia actually likes your company. Which is saying something, because he canât stand any of the mortals heâs ever spoken to. Itâs actually kinda concerning because all he talks about is you and how sad and miserable you are, but he doesnât mean it in a hateful way. He just says itâs annoying how you get stuck in peopleâs heads. But weâre getting off track.âÂ
Wait, wait, no, go back on that track. Why was Idia tolerating your company? Not that it was a bad thing, as it allowed you to live longer than most folk who had ever encountered him. It was a tad worrisome, and you couldnât help but visibly grimace.Â
âAll we need to do is make sure Meg lives and remains without a scratch for those twenty-four hours, right? Thatâs easy enough! We can knock him out cold or have Cerberus watch over him. Either way, with us on watch, it wonât really matter! Weâll be free!âÂ
You watch him yell with glee as he jumps high into the air, until he is several stories in the sky as he laughs. What a sight this would have been to any other mortal nearby, who may have had the misfortune of stumbling across two imps at the abandoned shrine of their master. When he began to plummet back to earth instead of gracefully floating back down, you nearly stumbled on your own two feet with your arms automatically outstretched to try and catch him.Â
Just before you could trip and fall flat on your face, his hands caught your sleeve and prevented you from taking a nasty fall. He remained hovering off the ground, as per usual. Those brilliant blinding eyes gazed at yours as he exclaimed, âWeâll finally be happy! Idia and me, and now you! We can make history, youâll be the first mortal to ever live on Mount Olympus! Isnât that great? Of course, if the air pressure becomes an issue affecting your breathing pattern, Iâm sure Idia would be glad to come up with a solution. He really liked your company when you two went to observe our target, you know. He wonât admit it, but I think you being there helped him calm down when Heraclea stopped the eruption at the volcano.âÂ
âUh, wellâââÂ
âOh! You know what I want to do as soon as we get to Olympus?â Times like these when he jumped from topic to topic so eagerly, and remained so high in spirits is what reminded you that he was supposed to be child-like. It was easy to see him as an innocent youth, if you ignored the disturbing things he said every now and then. âI heard that Hermes has some really cool accessories. We should take them! And donât forget Ares! Iâve always wanted to see his helmet and hold the legendary sword he wields! Thereâs so many things we can do once weâre up there, and weâll have all the time in the world! AndâââÂ
All you could think of as your fellow imp blabbered on and on about relics he wished to steal from other gods and how he planned to spend his time having fun with his brother and yourself, was that you really just put your entire existence in his little metal hands. Only one sentence ran through your mind as you stared slack-jawed at him.
Iâm going to fucking dieâŠ
⧠ ⧠ ⧠ ⧠ â§
They were right on track towards the implosion of destined failure, but all it would take would be one sharp turn, and unexpected change, to send them veering off course. It was surprisingly easy for Ortho to convince Idia to send out Meg on a quest to find Heracleaâs weakness. Although you knew the answer already, and by extension so did Ortho, Idia did not. And you were not about to tell him your whole life story and how you knew details that others should not know of this world and those living in it.Â
Now it was only a matter of waiting, waiting for the confirmation to arrive that Meg was the key to the heroâs destruction. To occupy the hours, you looked upon a scroll Ortho had brought along to the mortal realm. Seated atop the roofs of grand estates to avoid being seen and questioned, it was the perfect spot as the duo of imps were to await further instruction from the god.Â
On the scroll you held, were various faces of monstrous beasts. Titans. The ones that stood out the most, were the four at the very bottom, with a fifth not too far behind. Those you recognized, and would be the ones to lay siege on Mount Olympus: Lythos, Hydros, Pyros, Stratos, and Arges. The last of which would be the one to kill the hero while she was in her weakened state.Â
âThis one⊠This one-eyed freak is the one we send to kill Heraclea.â You point out the image of the cyclops, able to distinguish it from the other titans. Unlike the others composed purely of the four elements, this titan was several tons of pure mass. A creature of unnatural proportions and unrivaled size, which would serve as a worthy opponent to the hero when she didnât have her superhuman strength to protect her.Â
Ortho gazed at the scroll, paying no mind to the garden below where Meg was eventually supposed to emerge with knowledge of Heracleaâs weakness. Focusing his optic sensors on the simple painted image of the titan Arges, he was still in thought before nodding in approval. âItâs true that Arges is a worthy titan with the capability of wrecking havoc and killing numerous humans, but why him specifically? If the hero won in the story as you said, wouldnât we want a different titan? I believe that Pyros would be most effective! His elemental body composed primarily of lava will easily burn through human flesh.âÂ
âWell, yes⊠Thatâs a very vivid way of thinking about it.â How in depth was Ortho picturing the death of the hero? It almost seemed as if he wanted to send the most destructive of them all just to cause her more suffering, even if his way of thinking was logical. You shook the image out of your mind as you explained meekly, âArges comes close to killing the hero. If he had taken things seriously instead of treating it as a game and delaying death, he wouldâve won. But he didnât, because he was toying with his victim⊠and because the heroâs trainer returned to their aid in those last moments.â
Either way, you were damning a person, a good person, to a horrible death. It wouldnât be swift or painless, and far from merciful. The titans would have centuries of pent-up rage to release violently, and if miraculously Arges was defeated, Ortho wouldnât allow the protagonist to slip away with their life. The imp beside you was far from the helpless little devils that appeared in the story, he could be just as lethal as his elder brother. And yet, despite the guilt you could feel slowly building up the more you thought about it, the more often you repeated to yourself: she wasnât real. If you could fully convince yourself of that, that despite her bright blue eyes and smile as warm as sunshine, she was just a character from a story, then the guilt of her approaching death wouldnât faze you too much.Â
The dangers in this world were real, the enemies were real, Ortho was real, Idia was real. She was not. Even if that felt like a lie, it was a lie, it didnât matter. If you thought of her as a simple pawn in a game, then the burden of your sin wouldnât be able to permeate throughout your consciousness. It was just like flicking a piece off a board. It was that simple. Because it was either her, or you. The choice was obvious.Â
As Ortho peered down at you with his big bright eyes, he continued floating in the air as he inquired, âHey, hey, when we get there, I call dibs on Aresâ helmet and sword. You can have Hermesâ stuff, okay?âÂ
âThatâs fine with meâŠâ Frankly, you didnât care for tinted glasses, legendary swords, or the helmet of a god.Â
In the midst of their conversation and planning, a swirling cloud of mist like a portal appeared a few feet away. From it, came the familiar voice of the god, âImps, timeâs almost up.âÂ
Going through the cloud was one experience you could never quite get accustomed to. It felt like you couldnât breathe, like a cold dead wind knocked the air out of your lungs as it transported you to a new location each and every time. This time, the destination was a place directly outside of a largely empty colosseum underneath gray skies that was bound to brew a storm.Â
âMeg is out of commission, he got too soft. But, heâs there to lure his little hero. Humans are so predictable, so naive, no offense.â Idiaâs gaze traveled over to you, only offering a half-hearted shrug and a crooked small grin as a weak apology, if it could even be deemed an apology at all.Â
To which you nodded, not really affected by his choice of words. âNone taken.âÂ
âOrtho, you take care of the pegasus and the satyr. Will you?â The immortal lordâs yellow eyes darted over to his brethren, the young imp straightening in attention upon hearing new commands. âClip its wings, do whatever you have to, I donât care what it is. I want them out of the way. Join us whenever youâre done.âÂ
âUnderstood!â Ortho chirped, watching as his elder brother turned away to slowly walk towards the colosseum. Your fellow impâs eyes met yours and he mustâve remembered your warning of the impact the satyr could have on the plot, because he used his ability to generate a holographic disguise of the satyr over himself. With one swift slicing motion over his neck, his head rolled to the side in a disgustingly almost realistic spillage of blood before the holographic flickered off. The imp winked at you, far too cheerful for someone planning to commit murder in the next upcoming minutes. In the next moment, he was gone through a cloud of black smog.Â
The gruesome image was stuck in your mind as you were left to follow the Lord of the Underworld, jogging to catch up with him and walk at his side as he approached the coliseum. The closer and closer you got to the towering arena, the more the thought dwelled at the forefront of your mind. You would be responsible for not one death, not just extinguishing the burning bright protagonist, but others. Not just Meg, or the satyr, or the pegasus, but countless other souls. Who knew how many mortals the titans would crush, freeze, burn, shred to bits and pieces? So many lives all to save yours.Â
Just remember, it was a story. They were just fictional characters, they didnât even have any relevance to the plot. Background characters whose faces and voices blurred together, whose names would go unheard. Thatâs all they were.Â
âHey. You nervous or something?âÂ
Immediately you were yanked out of your intense train of thought, as if pulled out from beneath the surface of water. The god seemed to have picked up on the nervous tics and the grimaces on your face.
âYou look like youâre gonna puke⊠Cut it out. Iâm the one who should be nervous, seriously.âÂ
Gripping the fabric of your clothing to prevent any unnecessary movement, you swallowed thickly and nodded stiffly. Just walk. All you had to do was walk beside him, act as an escort and keep up with him when approaching the towering open entrances to the largely abandoned coliseum where one could faintly pick up on the sound of clanging metal dumbbells in a steady rhythm.Â
âSorryâŠâ You choke out, suppressing any sort of queasy sensation. Think of golden gates and feather-stuffed clouds softer than any tempur-pedic, not the destruction and trail of blood that would lead to paradise at the peak. âJustââ the hero weâre walking towards can probably crush my skull between her biceps without even really trying. And, I kinda prefer my skull intact, you know?âÂ
âNo, I donât know.â Idia rolled his eyes, seemingly not very much in agreement. Then again, he had little to fear when it came to actually being harmed. Yes, Heraclea could do some damage to him, but he couldnât die. He was immortal.Â
The pair stopped at the arching entranceway moments before entering the threshold.Â
âYou know what I do know? Rumors.â Of course he knew things. Ortho constantly kept him up to date on the latest happenings, and of course his pawn that fit in best with other mortals, Meg, had kept him informed about anything important in the mortal lands. âA certain little bird told me something interesting before he turned traitor. That a strapping gal, who, I dunno, rides a pegasus and listens to a satyr, has been on the lookout for a small kinda pathetic-looking mortal with horns. Turns out that your crying face made a crying mark on her from that day in the gorge.âÂ
She knew you. You didnât know whether to cry or scream. What was worse? The hero with the strength of a thousand suns or the god that reigned over the dead?Â
The god. The god was easily the most frightening one, you decided as you realized that Idia was staring at you intensely again. It caused your breath to stop, your hairs standing on end. The immortal looked as if he just wanted to smite you right then and there, reducing you to nothing but ash. For something that was beyond your control.Â
âI have got to say, you have this talent, a curse, and it makes me want to literally justâââ Idia tightly clenched his fist, pursing his blue lips as he decided against going into detail. To simply put it, words like crush, tear, destroy, or pulverize into atoms would not be able to adequately put his thoughts into words. âTurns out, itâs not just me that notices. You have this strange agonizing little ability to just⊠worm your way into someoneâs mind, and not stop. It festers like an open wound. Infecting it, making the thoughts grow more and more, worse and worse, increasing every day.â
In your seconds of stunned and petrified silence, Idia peered down at you.Â
His eyes glowed in the shadows under the stone arches. The smoke at his feet brushing against your legs like tendrils of gray wisps. Abruptly he remarked, âI think I finally realized why I find you so annoying.âÂ
âWhatâââÂ
âYouâre used to death and choose the logical routes that are deemed as heartless. Maybe in your previous life you were seen as odd and somewhat of an outcast, like us.âÂ
Previous life. What exactly did he mean by that? How much exactly did he know, but chose not to explicitly state? Was he assuming you had a previous life here in his plane of existence, this story? Or did he somehow know that you once had a life elsewhere, before being damned into this role by trial?Â
Slowly your eyes traveled over to him, only to see that he was already glancing down at you with those glowing yellow eyes. The eyes of death himself. Unsmiling, unfeeling, unstable. The breath of life was frozen in your throat as he tilted his head slowly to one side, his gaze never leaving yours, not blinking even once. âDo you blame yourself?âÂ
âH-HuhâŠ?âÂ
âWell, itâs common for you simple mortals in this type of situation youâre in to feel a type of guilt, before and after what has been done.â The number of mortal souls he mustâve seen of the damned were immeasurable. The good, the bad, the worst. All of it he had witnessed. Guilt. Was that what you were feeling now, at the thought of sacrificing others for your own survival as you manipulate the story?Â
The breath lodged in your throat escaped like a short stifled gasp. âI⊠I donâtâââÂ
âI see it all the time, youâre no exception.â Idia turned to face you fully. The Lord of the Underworld was looking down at you, the smoke at his feet curling around your legs. It was cold lifeless air, sending a chill from your toes all the way to your neck. Those eyes felt like the worst pair of eyes in the entire worldââ no, the entire universe. It felt like he could read you inside out, deciphered every bit of your soul like code. âMortals will invent blame, trying to shove the burden on others and create an excuse. When in realityâŠâÂ
Reality. This was reality now, at least for you. A reality you had attempted to shape into your will, into a satisfactory ending where things would be carefree in a heavenly paradise above the clouds. And yet⊠what did it cost? Lives? What did that matter? But a portion of your sanity.Â
âItâs completely out of your control.âÂ
The Lord of the Underworld returned his sights ahead, to where he would encounter the beloved daughter of the god who damned him to an eternity of drudgery in the most secluded realm in this plane of existence. As he walked, it felt like his fleeting wisps of smoke lingering after each footstep, compelled her forward.Â
Just before the shadows of the arching columns ended, they stopped on the edge of darkness where they could watch. Straight ahead was Heraclea, her back turned to them. She was lifting a bar with huge thick metal weight plates that likely each weighed about the same as a house, yet she so effortlessly lifted them up and down with the same hands that strangled the most fearsome beasts to death.
Idia stood close at your side, keeping his fingers folded in front of him as he stood slightly slouched, watching the hero with utter disdain before his gaze traveled to you out of the corner of his eye, but he didnât move his head. Instead of that same type of hateful loathing he felt towards the protagonist, he looked at you with something else, something less evil and more gentler but equally as chilling.Â
In an instant, he was gone in a puff of smoke, his voice seeming to echo all around you and even within the confines of your skull. Low and quiet, but haunting. âYou know you were never in control, right?âÂ
You were never in control.Â
You could only watch almost lifelessly as Idia appeared in front of the protagonist. Everyone, everything, began to sound so far away. The crackling fire of the torches on the wall, the voice of the suspicious immortal and wary mortal in the distance, the low howling of the wind beginning to pick up, each one fell on deaf ears.Â
That one parting line, just five words, made you question everything that you had worked for thus far. Again, there was the question: how much Idia know? Have you been played for a fool? For all your days here, you had been through hell and back, quite literally, doing his bidding in the hopes to exploit the situation and create an ending that suited your preferences. Had he known this, or was it his choice of words messing with your unstable mind? Just as he insinuated that your presence was permeating throughout his mind, this god was driving you mad!Â
The plot appeared to be progressing as intended, the Lord of the Underworld attempting to trick the Hero into a deal they could not refuse. When Idia snapped his dark bony fingers, instead of seeing plum colored garbs and wavy brown locks of Meg, you felt that dreadful sensation of the cold dead wind knocking the air out of your lungs as you suddenly found yourself thrust into the spotlight of the center colosseum.Â
All eyes, the two pairs in the vicinity, were on you. You felt yourself go pale. There was a reason Idia had mentioned the fact that the hero knew you existed, and this was it. It was a warning, a hint to his plans. Somehow, someway, the hero cared, and it should have never happened. Why wasnât Meg here instead?Â
The heroâs bright blue eyes sparked to life with familiarity. Any mild irritation she expressed while interacting with the immortal were quickly dashed and replaced by genuine concern. âItâs youâââÂ
Immediately your gaze traveled to the Lord of the Underworld, who appeared irked by the mere presence of the protagonist that has gotten in the way of his every attempt. Idia hardly even looked at you, even as the words came rushing out past your lips, âThis wasnâtâââÂ
Those cold wisps of smoke gathered, materializing into a rope-like object that restricted your movements. It binds your wrists together, covering your mouth to prevent any sort of noise from leaving your throat.Â
This wasnât the plan. This wasnât supposed to happen! Why was this happening?Â
Just before you could hit the dirt ground, the heroâs warm hands inches away from your flesh as she extended her arms out to catch youââ snap! The snap of Idiaâs fingers caused that dreaded cold lifeless air to hit you like a slap as you were whisked away from strong safe arms.Â
For a few sparse seconds, you were in complete and utter darkness. It was cold. Just you and your thoughts, with one more prominent than others: Idia had used you. Toying with you like one of the pawns on his board, pinning you against the unbeatable foe he was currently facing. The god utilizing you as if you were the secret ace up his sleeve, but why? What was stopping Heraclea from decimating you just as she had to his other pawns?Â
Again, you heard the snap, and you were back in the colosseum. Rapidly you scanned your surroundings, growing more and more disorientated with each snap of his fingers that tossed you back and forth from space to space until you couldnât tell right from left. What you could still detect was the solid surface beneath you, like those uncomfortable rigid stone benches where the audience would spectate the bloody battles.Â
âââ thatâs the trade off. You give up your strength for twenty-four hours, specifically the next twenty-four hours, and the mortal youâve been looking for is as free as a bird.â Idia prattled on, speaking quite rapidly whether out of habit, out of the jitters, or due to the time-crunch, but it couldâve been all three fueling his fast-talk. âI mean, you do want them safe, donât you? Thatâs the mortal youâve been looking for, isn't it? The one youâve spotted in multiple cities, right? Sorta small and meek, the distinct horn-things they got going on there, sad little face, kinda hard to miss âem.âÂ
Heraclea had been looking for you. The hero had spotted you in citiesââ and the only time you were in civilization was when you were tasked to set up the disasters and accidents that the hero would come to face. Were you sloppy and was this accidental, an opportunity the Lord of the Underworld decided to take full advantage of? Or was this always his intention from the very beginning?Â
How many times had Heraclea spotted you to grow attached, at least enough to the extent that Idia felt he could safely bet on the hero risking her divine strength to spare you? Each moment flashed through your mind, as you dashed through alleyways and backroads, with the help of Ortho, each time setting off a disaster or a beast to challenge the hero. While Ortho had his strange metallic body which levitated and his holograms to disguise himself, you only had your own two legs to run and a cloak to conceal yourself. How many of those times of sneaking past corners, weaving through crowds, disappearing behind buildings, had Heraclea seen? So engrossed in these thoughts, that you practically missed the intense verbal exchange between the two.Â
While Heraclea was naive, she wasnât downright stupid, and Idia merely wanted this to hurry along to remain on schedule.Â
âââWhat do you owe these mortals, hm? This is the mortal youâve wanted to save! Them and their sorry eyes.â In one swift movement, Idia was beside you, his thin fingers forcing you to look straight at the protagonist.Â
You couldnât scream, you couldnât yell, you couldnât cry. How different would this have turned out, if instead, you had risked turning to Heraclea for help in the very beginning?Â
Those blue eyes, the kindest blue eyes in the world, peered at you from afar. Was that pity in her eyes as she looked at you?Â
The god pinched your cheeks between your fingers, as he made you look at her. Really look at her, the woman which you were planning to sacrifice to save your own skin. The woman who was currently contemplating on saving you at her own expense, even if she had no idea that you had aided in the countless attempts to kill her thus far. Itâs like Idia wanted you to really get a good look of her before she was gone. âAre you for real going to look straight at that miserable little face and say no? I mean, talk about a letdown. I thought you cared for themâââÂ
âStop it!â Cutting him off, the heroâs soft gaze at you turned to frown once she focused on the pale immortal. It only took one second. Just one second for her to cave, just as what was intended. You feared being labeled as an enemy by her, but apparently, Idia did not feel the same sort of trepidation. âSwear. Swear that theyâll be safe from any harm.âÂ
Finally letting go, Idia shrugged nonchalantly as he slowly approached Heraclea. He didnât plan on harming them anyways. This worked out even better than what was imagined. Now, there was absolutely no use for Meg, no need to keep him from harm when it was his own imp that had to be shielded. An imp that risked the lives of others to keep themself safe, and an imp that the Lord of the Underworld wouldnât allow any harm to befall. âYeah, fine, whatever. This mortal here remains safe, otherwise you get your strength right back. Everyone goes home happy. Mâkay, deal?âÂ
As soon as he outstretched his pale hand, his black-tinted fingers reaching forward, Heraclea eyed his appendage with suspicion. As if she half expected the black on his fingertips to be some sort of deadly poison that would infect her as soon as she touched his hand. Her blue eyes glanced at you for a brief moment.Â
âHey, you hear me? Look, you wouldnât get it, but Iâm on a schedule. I need an answer, like, now.â For a flash, a quick moment, his normally calm blue mane appeared to spark red and flicker higher and further across his shoulders.
Again, the hero looked at you. For all she knew, you were an innocent soul held hostage by a god. Yet you were far from innocent.Â
âGoing once.âÂ
You were watching the valiant woman practically seal her certain doom.
âGoing twiceâââÂ
A fate in which you helped form and doing nothing to stop it.Â
âAlrightâŠ!â Heraclea looked at her own calloused hand with apprehension, but thrust it forward before any hesitation could kick in.Â
As soon as their hands connected, Idia gave an eager toothy grin. You could only watch as the life and energy was practically drained out of the hero as she sank slowly to her knees like being pulled down by intense crushing gravity. As soon as they let go, it was like seeing the color fade from her. Her healthy glowing tan was reduced to an ashy almost-gray hue, her eyes dimmed as they lost their spark of energy, and she could barely even stand on her own two feet.Â
Idia no longer held any regard for the now simple mortal, not even sparing her so much as a glance as a wave of his fingers caused the hefty weight she had been training with, to float before crashing against her, practically tossing her to the other side of the colosseum.Â
You had no idea if she were alive or dead, or nearly dead but left just breathing to receive torment from the titans that would be released only momentarily. There wasnât even any time to ask or to check her pulse, as Idia snapped and suddenly your restraints dissipated into thin air.Â
âSee, didnât I tell you, you get into peopleâs heads?â He remarked far too casually. With another snap, there was chariot-like contraption summoned.Â
You couldnât tear your eyes away from the rubble the hero had landed in. You waited, searching, anticipating some sort of movement. A sign of life.Â
âDonât look at her anymore.â Upon seeing this, Idia frowned deeply. The tips of his fiery hair sparked warm hues, the flames growing taller and casting longer shadows. âWhy are you still looking at her?â A final movement of his hand had his fingers land on your chin, keeping your head in place so his glowing eyes were peering right down at you. The worst eyes in the world. âDonât wanna be late now, after all our hard work. If thereâs anything left of Heraclea, weâll have the titans handle the remains so there wonât even be bones to bury. You wanted this, didnât you? Donât let the guilt eat you alive now, not when you knew what you were getting into. Usually Iâm the downer, but I donât get why you look so shocked. Iâm granting you a front row seat to this cosmic takeover biz, my Puny Little Imp.â

In which Spencer meets a beautiful stranger at his local dealer, his addiction to weed rapidly turning into an addiction to her.
Pairing: stoner!spencer x stoner!fem!reader Genre: slight angst x smut (18+) Content warnings: weed usage (not promoting it! pls zont zo it), short mentions of tobias hankel and maeve, finger sucking, mutual masturbation, lazy high sex Word count: 3,6k A/n: my first fic inspired on a song! when i listened to 'denial is a river' by doechii, this fic immediately started to form in my mind
Spencer oftentimes wondered when he started becoming afraid of his own mind. Maybe there was never a starting point â maybe it was rooted in his bones, something he never had the chance to escape. An inherited terror, passed down like a family heirloom.Â
He knew the descent into insanity was inevitable. That there would come a time when his mind, the thing heâs relied on all his life, would betray him. That heâd watch the pieces of himself scatter until his identity was nothing but a cruel mockery of who he once was.
What Spencer didnât expect was for that moment to arrive so soon. He never imagined his first meeting with madness to be in a dark cabin as the sting of Dilaudid coursed through his veins. And what Spencer least expected was how heâd feel afterward â how, no matter the trauma, he would find himself aching for that sensation, longing for it to return.
With his reason still intact, he managed to sign himself up for a support group destined for addicts in law enforcement. Rehab mightâve been the hardest battle heâd had to face, and being clean is a title he still doesn't deserve. Because even though itâs been years since his arms last looked blue, heâs been smoking weed habitually.Â
It started when a police officer in the program spoke up about his struggle with weed addiction, going into detail about the tranquilizing effects and how it left him unable to focus on the job. Whereas his story would sound appalling to most, Spencer found appeal in its descriptions. Cannabis offered the same calming qualities as Dilaudid, but with a lower overdose risk, and on top of that, it was far easier to obtain.
So when the officer casually slipped his dealerâs address in the middle of immersively sharing his story, Spencer made a mental note and found himself on the location later that day. The transaction was easier than heâd expected; showing the cash in his pocket was enough for the gruff man to hand him a small, opaque bag, its contents concealed.Â
That same night, Spencer found himself sitting on his couch, supplies spread out on the coffee table before him. He remembered a guy from his PhD mathematics program, rolling a blunt in Yaleâs community garden under the same big tree where Spencer would read his literature for the day. It gave him some of an idea on how to proceed. Once he had the wrap filled, he methodically pinched and smoothed the paper as he rolled it with his fingers, careful to avoid tearing.Â
He didnât feel much with the first drag, but as he inhaled deeper, a tingling sensation spread to his head and chest, almost coaxing him into a dosed state. The world around him instantly softened, and he sank further into the couch, as if a fuzzy, warm blanket had draped over him.
That moment marked the first of many, as Spencer would often return to the plant when experiencing withdrawal or when he started developing headaches later in his life. He frequently recalled how the officer mentioned performing less at his job while under the influence, but for Spencer, it had the opposite effect. He tended to approach cases too objectively and analytically. When he would go home at the end of the day and smoke before bed, his mind would suddenly make creative, out-of-the-box connections â connections he had never considered before.Â
Spencer wasnât ready to give up weed just yet.
âââ
You were lying down, your head resting on the armrest of the pink velvet couch that stood in the corner of your therapistâs office. For the past fifteen minutes, youâd been staring at a small star painted on the ceiling, which was part of a mural of the universe. It was supposed to help people ground themselves â to remind them that their existence was nothing more than a tiny spark in the entire cosmos.
âI donât know,â you eventually responded in a sigh as your therapist questioned you once again. âThis is a really dark time for me, Iâm going through a lot.â
âBy âa lotâ, you mean drugs?â
You were thrown off guard by the inquiry, brows furrowing. âUm, I wouldnât-â
âDrugs?â She repeated, her pen ready in hand, as her notebook rested open on her lap.
Your head shot up from its position on the armrest of the couch. âNo, itâs a-â
âNo?â She probed, her eyes raised up, glasses perched on the bridge of her nose.
âItâs a natural plant,â you stated, sitting up straighter.
âNo, Iâm not judging.â
You rolled your eyes at her attempt to reassure you. âIâm not an addict.âÂ
âIâm just saying-â
âI donât think-â
âYou wanna talk about it?â
âââ
The door slamming behind you was as much of a response as you would offer her. With hurried steps you walked out of the building, hand reaching into your pocket as you searched for your car keys. With a small click of the door, you entered your beat-up old car, shivering as you still havenât been able to fix the radiator.Â
You didnât need to pull up the GPS â not that you even owned one â to know where you were headed. You speed-dialed your dealer as you rounded a corner, and maybe that was enough to confirm that you did have a bit of a problem with drugs. At least you were seeing a therapist; not many can say the same.
The sun was disappearing behind the clouds as you pulled into the familiar motell parking lot. There was a chill in the air, making you pull your jacket tighter around you as you walked toward room number 13.Â
Your attention was drawn to a tall, lanky man with messy curls, bouncing on the balls of his feet with his hands tucked in his pockets as he stood in front of the door. It was a rare sight to see someone ahead of you in line â usually people would arrive one by one to not bring any attention to the scene, but then again, you made an appointment at the very last minute.
You walked up to him, standing beside him in an attempt to make the scene look like a casual visit. You offered a polite smile, which he returned with a brief wave of his hand. Awkwardly, you turned your gaze to the door in front of you, waiting. You could feel his eyes scanning over you, making you reach up to fix your hair, just in case something was out of place. He seemed to notice your action and turned his head.
After a minute, you cleared your throat. âDid you knock?â
He looked at you, and you werenât expecting the flutter in your stomach as you met his deep, brown eyes.Â
âI did,â he answered. âItâs been four minutes and twenty eight seconds, which, based on my previous encounters, gives him approximately three more seconds to open the door.â
You fell silent as the door opened, just like the handsome stranger had predicted. You reached into your jacket pocket, pausing when you found it empty. Your heart began racing as you checked the other pocket, then anxiously patted down your jeans.
âFuck.â
âAre you okay?â The brown-haired man asked in concern.
âYeah, Iâm fine. I just- I forgot my wallet.âÂ
âI could pay for you.âÂ
The casualty of his offer took you by surprise. âReally?âÂ
It was embarrassing that you didnât turn him down, but you didnât have the energy to be polite â today had been rough, and all you wanted to do was go home and relax. You felt a little less guilty when the strangerâs lips curled into a smile, as if he was happy to do this for you.
âWell, I donât give a shit who pays. Just give the damn money â itâs cold.âÂ
The strangerâs lips tightened in response as he handed the man twice the usual amount of bills. The dealer handed over two small bags in return, closing the door behind him with a loud slam.Â
âHere you go.â
You breathed out a soft âthank youâ as you accepted the bag from him. âIâll pay you back next time.â
âThatâs okay. I donât mind,â he replied with a casual wave of his hand.Â
You exchanged names, which led him to compliment yours and give you a brief history lesson on its origins.Â
âI never expected to learn more about myself from a total stranger,â you chuckled.Â
You didnât notice he had walked you to your car until you stopped in front of it. âThis is me. Where are you parked, or are you staying here?â
âI got here by subway, actually.â
You raised your brows, surprised. This wasnât the safest neighborhood, especially at night, and Spencer didnât strike you as the type to wander around here.Â
âAre you sure youâll be okay?â you asked, just to be certain.
âAbsolutely!â he answered, lifting up his shirt, revealing a gun holstered at his waist. âI can handle myself.â
Alarm bells blared in your mind at the sight, and you instinctively stepped back.Â
âWait! No, no, no,â Spencer put his hands up, showing you that he meant no harm. âI work at the FBI.â
He could read the doubt in your expression, slowly moving one hand to his jacket while keeping the other raised in the air. Carefully, he retrieved his badge and held it out, revealing it to you. You leaned in, observing the golden emblem and the ID picture beside it.
âNow, that wasnât what I was expecting,â you said with a relieved sigh. âI guess I can offer you a ride, then?â
Spencer looked at you, as if considering all the possible outcomes of his answer. He ended up nodding his head and giving you a soft grin. Â
âIâd appreciate that. Thanks.âÂ
The car ride was filled with a comfortable silence, the weight of the day settling over both of you.Â
âYou seem nervous,â he observed.
âHowâd you know?â
âYour fingers are tapping against the steering wheel, and theyâre out of rhythm with the radio, so itâs not like youâre tapping along with the song.â
âI guess I am.â You turned your head to him, then back to the road. âIt has nothing to do with you, though. I feel oddly comfortable around you.â
When you glanced at him again, he was smiling, a glimmer in his eyes, shyly playing with his fingers. âMe too.â
âââ
You hadnât expected Spencer to invite you in when you arrived at his house. He suggested you smoke together, saying you shouldnât be driving while feeling anxious.Â
Honestly, you didnât care about the reasoning. You just wanted to spend more time with him.Â
You were sitting beside him on the couch, legs pulled up and half draped over his as you took another drag from your joint. You didnât know who started the conversation, but somehow you found yourself opening up about life and its struggles.
âI caught my ex cheating. He was supposed to pick up his stuff and leave the next day, but instead he crashed my place and just⊠destroyed everything I owned.â
His expression remained neutral, like he was trying not to judge, though his eyes said enough. After a beat, he spoke up again. âMy girlfriend got shot in front of my face.â
Your eyes widened in shock, but the weed dulled your reaction. âOh shit.â
âYeah⊠shit,â he muttered in an exhale, picking up his joint again.Â
Your eyes were drawn to his fingers, noticing the long, slender shape of them, the small bones shifting under his skin as he gripped the joint. The image of a tree flashed through your mind, its branches moving in the wind â or maybe it was just the weed making your mind wander.Â
As he brought the joint to his lips, your gaze followed the movement, your breath catching when his pink lips parted just enough to reveal a hint of his tongue. A shiver ran down your spine as your eyes lingered there, entranced. He closed his lips around it, letting out a low hum that was almost a moan as he inhaled.Â
He exhaled, filling the air with smoke, the rich scent enveloping you.
âCan I take a hit?âÂ
He didnât question why you werenât using your own. Instead he handed you the joint, his fingers brushing lightly against yours as you took it. Â
You kept eye contact with him as you placed it between your lips, softly moaning at the contact, knowing his mouth had been right where yours was.Â
Spencer took you in with dark, tired eyes. You threw your leg over his thigh, feeling the need to be closer to him as the air around you grew warmer.Â
He didnât seem to mind your clinginess, which gave you the confidence to lean in closer. Carefully, you reached out, your nails lightly grazing his jaw, making him shiver as he let out a quiet purr at the touch.Â
âWhat are you doing?â he asked in a husky whisper, more intrigued than accusatory.
âIâm horny,â you whispered against his lips, fingers trailing down his jaw.Â
His breath heaved at the proximity. âEvidence shows that cannabis can enhance sexual pleasure.âÂ
âYeah?â you purred, lips brushing against his. âAnd what should I do about it?â
âYou should touch yourself.â
âShould I now?â your voice teasingly sang as you leaned back, your hands sensually moving up the sides of your body before squeezing your breasts through your shirt.
âLike this?â
He blinked a couple of times, licking his lips. âA bit lower.â
You smirked, your hands trailing down your body, relishing how he was taking you in, unable to look away. Your hand stopped as you cupped your heat through your clothes, slowly rubbing your fingers in circles. âHere?â
He groaned at the sight, nodding his head in confirmation. âRight there.â
Spencerâs bulge pressed against your leg, which you had thrown over his lap. You couldnât resist moving against it, making him gasp as he threw his head back.
âYou should take care of that,â you suggested, nodding towards his pants. âLet me give you something to work with.âÂ
Spencerâs gaze was expectant, as he watched you slowly peel your clothes off. Inch by inch, you revealed your skin, leaving him desperate for more.Â
Spencer mirrored your actions, undressing himself before he took a hold of your bare leg, placing it back on his lap, so that your legs were spread wide open. With one arm behind you, he pulled you in closer, his other hand reaching out to caress the skin in between your breasts, making you catch your breath.Â
His hand trailed further up your skin, until his fingers were lightly tapping against your lips. âOpen up for me,â he murmured.
You obeyed without hesitation, parting your lips for him to slide two of his fingers inside of your mouth. You responded instinctively, wrapping your lips around them, your cheeks hollowing as you started moving your head back and forth. Your tongue swirled in lazy circles, humming at the taste of his skin.
âGood girl,â he cooed in approval. âGet them all nice and wet, so that I can touch you.â
Spencer watched your eyes sparkle at his words. When a moan escaped your lips, vibrating around his fingers, he was reminded once again why he loved being high â it soothed his anxiety in a way that made his thoughts spill out without overthinking. And it thrilled him to see the effect his words had on you, words that would usually stay locked in his mind.Â
The hand that had been resting around your shoulder wandered down to your breast, giving it an experimental squeeze. You moaned around his fingers, meeting his gaze, his nose nearly brushing yours as he watched you with intent focus.Â
He pulled his fingers from your mouth with a pop, before he reached down to press them against your pussy. You closed your eyes in bliss as he rubbed his fingers up and down your slit, the combined juices of your slickness and your mouth made his fingers easily slip between your folds with every move.
âYouâre so wet,â he whispered in awe as he pressed a soft kiss to the side of your mouth.Â
âThatâs your fault,â you teased, a playful smile tugging at your lips. He chuckled, his breath brushing your cheek. âIâll take the blame,â he murmured before pressing his mouth to yours.
You hungrily accepted his kiss. Your hand slid between his thighs, finding his hard length pressed against his stomach. His cock felt warm against your palm as you wrapped your fingers around him, the movement causing a string of precum to form, connecting from his tip to his happy trail.Â
Spencer groaned into your mouth, his tongue swirling against yours, deepening the kiss even further. You traced your thumb over the sensitive head of his cock, causing him to buck his hips and pressing his fingers harder against your clit in response.Â
You squirmed at the intensity of his touch. His slender fingers continued to trail over your pussy, teasing with delicate strokes before slipping a finger into your dripping heat.
âFuck, that feels good,â you moaned.Â
You began stroking his length, squeezing him gently as you flicked your wrist. Every movement was a lazy, unhurried exploration of each otherâs bodies. Savoring the haze of the high as it sharpened your every sensation.Â
You broke the kiss, as you reached for the joint on the coffee table, turning toward Spencer with a playful glint in your eye. He gratefully parted his lips, as you placed the roll between them. He took a deep drag, the smoke curling into his lungs. You leaned closer, opening your mouth in anticipation to receive the smoky breath he exhaled, as you shared the pleasure.
Spencer took in the sight of you. Your swollen lips were slightly parted as you breathed in. Your nipples were hard with excitement, and your pussy glistened around his fingers as he slowly pumped them in and out of you. You were a sight to behold, and he couldnât believe how lucky heâd gotten tonight.
He could look at you all day. Heâs never felt so drawn to someone before, and he could easily finish just by watching your body as you sat bare in front of him. His cock fitted perfectly in your delicate hands. You were gripping him just right, bringing him closer to the release heâs been longing for.
âYouâre so beautiful,â he breathed, the words slipping out naturally.Â
âSo are you,â you replied just as sensually, your eyes tracing the way your hand palmed him, feeling his heavy weight in your grip. âI wanna know how youâd feel inside of me.â
A flush crept across his cheeks at your bluntness. âYeah?â
You nodded slowly, humming in response. âBet youâd fill me up so good.â
âJesus,â he groaned, swallowing hard as he could feel the way you clenched around his fingers.
âAre you clean?â you asked him, and he quickly nodded.
He eagerly grabbed your hips as you crawled on top of him, moaning softly as he felt the weight of you. His hand slid to your neck, pulling you in for a sloppy kiss, sucking your bottom lip.
You reached down between your bodies, fingers curling around his thick length as you guided him to your entrance. You let out a shaky whisper as he filled you up more than you expected. Spencer noted the furrow in your brow, but before he could remind you to take your time, you were already rocking your hips against him.
âOh, baby,â he cried out, his hands sliding to your back as you wrapped your arms around his neck. Your thighs rolled over his, and he met your pace, thrusting up into you.
âYou feel so good,â he continued moaning as his fingers dug into your skin.Â
You could only whimper in response and you fastened your movements, your breasts brushing against him with each slide of your hips.
He could feel you tightening around him, your legs trembling against his. âSpencer, I-â
You didnât need to finish your sentence for him to understand. âMe too, sweetheart,â he groaned. âPlease, donât stop.â
You kept moving, the urgency in his voice spurring you on. You leaned in to capture his lips one more time, and Spencer accepted with a desperate whine.Â
The pressure in your core finally broke, and you cried out his name as an overwhelming pleasure washed over you. Spencerâs grip on your hips tightened, and he pushed up into you one last time, his body shuddering as the warmth of his release filled you.
âYouâre so amazing,â he sleepily groaned, nuzzling his head into your chest as you came down from the high. You chuckled at the scene, unsure if he even noticed how clingy he was being. It had to be the weed that made him hold onto you like that, but the action still made your heart flutter, imagining how you could be the reason why heâs acting this way. Â
âCan you pick up the joint for me?â he softly asked, his lips brushing against your stomach.Â
You giggled. âYouâre really an addict.â
âIâm just addicted to you.â

Lando leaned against the hood of his beat-up project car, wiping grease from his hands with a rag. It was another long day at the garage, but he didnât mind. The work gave him purpose, and besides, he had something even better waiting for him at home: you.
The past few weeks had been a whirlwind. Ever since heâd discovered the truth about your wealth, life had taken on a surreal quality. It was a lot to processâgoing from a modest life to being immersed in the world of luxuryâbut the thing that amazed him the most was how little your status had changed the way you treated him. You were still the same person who laughed with him over cheap wine, danced barefoot in his tiny kitchen, and held his hand during late-night drives.
But lately, youâd made it your mission to spoil him in ways he never thought possible.
The first surprise came on a cloudy Saturday morning. Lando had been tinkering in the garage when you appeared, leaning against the doorframe with a playful smile.
âHey, handsome,â you called, your voice cutting through the hum of the street outside.
âHey,â he replied, wiping his hands on his overalls. âWhatâs up?â
âCome with me,â you said, holding out your hand.
Lando raised an eyebrow but didnât argue. You led him out to the driveway, where a sleek, black luxury car sat gleaming in the soft light. His steps faltered as his eyes widened, disbelief washing over him.
âWhat⊠what is this?â he stammered, his voice barely above a whisper.
âItâs yours,â you said casually, as if you hadnât just turned his entire world upside down.
âMine?â he repeated, staring at you like youâd just told him heâd won the lottery.
âYes, yours.â You laughed at his expression, stepping closer to hand him the keys. âYouâve been working so hard, and I know how much youâve wanted something reliableâand fun. So, here you go.â
Landoâs hands trembled as he took the keys, his heart pounding in his chest. He walked around the car, running his fingers over the polished surface, his reflection staring back at him.
âBabe,â he said, his voice thick with emotion, âthis is⊠I donât even know what to say. This is insane.â
âSay you like it,â you teased, leaning against the car.
âLike it?â He turned to you, a grin spreading across his face. âI love it.â
âGood,â you said, your smile matching his. âNow, how about a test drive?â
Lando didnât need to be asked twice. Sliding into the driverâs seat, he marveled at the smooth leather interior and the advanced dashboard. Everything about the car screamed luxury, and for the first time, he allowed himself to feel like he belonged in it.
As he drove through the winding streets, the car purring beneath him, Lando couldnât stop smiling. The way you looked at him, proud and happy, made his heart swell.
The car wasnât the only surprise you had in store. A week later, you insisted on taking him shopping.
âBabe, you donât need to buy me anything else,â he protested as you pulled him into a high-end boutique.
âHumor me,â you said, dragging him toward the watch display.
Lando glanced at the gleaming cases, his eyes widening as he took in the rows of intricately designed timepieces. Each one looked like it cost more than a monthâs worth of his paychecks.
âPick one,â you said, gesturing to the display.
âWhat?â He turned to you, his eyebrows shooting up. âNo way. These are⊠I mean, look at the price tags!â
âDonât worry about the price,â you said, your tone gentle but firm. âI want you to have something nice.â
Lando hesitated, his gaze flicking between you and the watches. Finally, he pointed to a classic design with a black leather strap and a gold bezel.
âThat one,â he said, his voice almost timid.
You nodded, signaling the salesperson to take it out. When they handed it to Lando, he turned it over in his hands, marveling at the craftsmanship.
âItâs beautiful,â he murmured, slipping it onto his wrist.
âIt suits you,â you said, your smile warm.
Lando pulled you into a hug, holding you tightly. âI donât know what I did to deserve you, but Iâm so glad youâre here.â
A few days later, you surprised him with reservations at a Michelin-starred restaurant. When you told him, Landoâs eyes went wide.
âAre you serious? Those places have, like, year-long waitlists!â
âI might have pulled a few strings,â you admitted with a wink.
That evening, as Lando stepped out of the car in his new suit, he looked around in awe. The restaurant was perched on a hill overlooking the city, its glass walls offering breathtaking views.
Inside, everything was immaculateâthe soft glow of chandeliers, the quiet hum of conversation, the faint clink of glasses. Lando felt slightly out of place at first, but you squeezed his hand, grounding him.
âRelax,â you said, your voice soothing. âThis is your night.â
The meal was unlike anything heâd ever experienced. Each course was a work of art, and Lando couldnât stop raving about the flavors.
âThis is insane,â he said between bites of the main course. âI didnât even know food could taste like this.â
You laughed, your heart swelling at his joy. âIâm glad youâre enjoying it.â
âEnjoying it? This might be the best night of my life.â
Over the next few weeks, you continued to treat him to little luxuriesâa weekend getaway to a private villa, a pair of custom leather driving gloves for his new car, and even a surprise visit to a racetrack where he got to test-drive some of the fastest cars in the world.
But what made it all worthwhile was the look on Landoâs face. Every smile, every laugh, every moment of pure, unfiltered happiness reminded you why you were doing this.
One evening, as the two of you lay tangled together on the couch, Lando turned to you with a thoughtful expression.
âYou know,â he said, his voice soft, âwhen I first found out about⊠everything, I didnât think I could handle it. I felt so out of my depth.â
âAnd now?â you asked, brushing a strand of hair from his forehead.
âNow I feel lucky,â he said, his eyes locking with yours. âNot because of the car or the watch or any of that. But because I have you. You make everything better.â
Tears pricked your eyes at his words, and you leaned in to kiss him. âYouâre everything I could ever want, Lando. And Iâll never stop showing you how much I love you.â
As he pulled you closer, Lando realized something he hadnât before: it wasnât the material things that mattered. It was the love and care behind them, the way you made him feel like the most important person in the world.
And for the first time, he truly believed he deserved it.

un rosso inconfondibile
attending a fashion show (and scoring yourself a date in the process)
[2.1k]
note: in the two week long process of writing this, i have moved into a flat, broken two of my actual nails, and rewatched all the monster high movies. sorry it took so long. <3. (lmk if u want a part two??? im kinda in love w this dynamic i would be so keen to write more x)
âiâm genuinely so thankful to be here, and i canât wait to see what looks they have to show tonight,â you trail off with a smile and blow a kiss to the camera.
the interviewer seems pleased enough with your response, and thanks you for your time before getting ready for the next famous face on the ferrari-red carpet.
the paparazzi were ravenous, like they always wereâ camera flashes were going off every second, while questions, directions and compliments were called out to you.
âplease, turn this way!â
âwho are you most excited to see?â
âgive us a little smile!â
âyou look gorgeous tonight! who are you wearing?â
at the last question, you laugh and gesture down to your silky black outfit.
ânow, why would we be at a ferrari fashion show and not be wearing ferrari?â
your reply garners some laughs from the mob of cameras, and the reporter thanks you for your time.
your publicist gestures for you to head towards the entrance of the venue, allowing you to finally step off the carpet and take a breath.
like you had said earlier, youâre insanely grateful to have been invited to watch ferrariâs newest collection walk down the runway, but the sheer amount of pr you had to do before each of these showsïżœïżœ it could honestly bring about an early grave, you thought.
just as you were about to recollect your thoughts and continue to the door, your dress was tugged back suddenly.
you turned to see who had stepped on your train and found a man crouched down, trying to examine for any damage.
âiâm so sorry,â he said, smoothing out the fabric, seemingly pleased with the quality of it after his mishap.
âi was not looking where i was going. itâs a bad habit of mine, reallyâŠâ
he had a strong accent- french, maybeâ something european, at least.Â
âdonât worry about it,â you assured him, âiâm sure no one will notice.â
now standing, he reached out, holding his hand out. you took it, and he bowed his head to kiss it gently, making his introduction to you.
âiâm charles.â
in return, you told charles your name, and that it was very nice to meet him, but your publicist was looking quite displeased with you by the door, where you were meant to be a whole minute ago.
he raised his eyebrows, amused by your story, and followed your gaze to where there was, indeed, a stern looking woman waving you over.
âiâll see you around, then.â
charles nodded by way of a goodbye and let you leave, chuckling as you made hurried steps towards the entrance.Â
your publicist frowned as you came closer, worriedly typing something out on her phone.
âcome on, love, you were meant to be in there ages ago! they need to get more photos inside, and you haveâŠâ she pulled up her email and checked something quickly, âyou have two interviews for ferrariâs social media, and for vogue france.â
âyou worry too much,â you replied, shooting a smile at her, âitâs okay, i know what to do. weâve been here hundred of times before, remember?â
she seemed to calm down a bit after your reassurance, but that did nothing to stop her from giving you a nudge to go inside.
you took some more deep breaths before you walked in, preparing for another round of photo ops.
at least these photographers didnât yell.
âcould we get one of you facing left, please?â
âperfect, and just another with your head turned!â
you werenât really listening, just letting your body follow their instructions loosely.
just as you were getting into a rhythm with it, the instructions stopped coming. instead, the photographers were focussed on someone who was coming around the corner towards you.
âcharles!â
ah.Â
you narrowed your eyes at him as he came closer. he was walking with a cocky sort of swagger, but who wouldnât, you supposed, with all those cameras following him.
âwe meet again,â he smiled widely.
âand so soon, too,â you added before you were interrupted by the photographers asking to get a photo of the two of you together.
you both forwent verbal answers, and instead positioned yourselves to be photographedâ his arm came up to your waist, and yours behind his back.
âyouâre a pretty big deal, huh,â you took the opportunity to ask, in between looking into different camera lenses with him.
he laughed, causing a rapid flurry of camera clicks as he did so.
âi suppose you could say that.â
you opened your mouth to reply, but was cut off by a shout, âplease, charles, now by yourself!â
âŠmaybe these guys did yell.
you shot a âwhat can you doâ look to charles as you left the spotlight, taking the photographerâs plea as a rightful cue to leave.
he held his hands together and mouthed a âsorry!â quickly, before turning back to the horde and flashing them a brilliant smile.Â
jesusâ he could be a toothpaste model or something.Â
you made it through your two social media interviews with no hiccups, though the vogue correspondent did ask you the nature of your relationship with charles, as, âyou two seemed quite friendly earlier!â
youâd laughed it off and told her the truth, though for some reason, she didnât seem too convinced.
a loud voice echoed around the room, telling everyone, âladies, and gentlemen, signore e signori, if you could please take your seats.â
you found yours with ease, being seated in the front row, almost halfway down the runway, to the left of some magazine editor you honestly hadnât heard of.
you started up a conversation with her about the current fashion season, and what trends she was predicting would hit the mainstream soon.Â
you were discussing animal print when a figure sat down into the seat on your left. they felt familiar before you even turned around, and you somehow werenât surprised to see charles grinning sheepishly at you.
âlife is funny how it works, no?âÂ
you rolled your eyes and excused yourself, turning back to the editor, only to find she was engrossed in a conversation with her other neighbour. resigned, you faced charles again.Â
âare you stalking me?â you questioned him.
he understood your sarcasm and laughed, holding his hands up in innocence.
âof course not. it just seems the world wants us to be together.â
he let the words sink in for a moment, then realised his mistake.
âno, i- i didnât mean together like that, you know? i just meant- ermâŠâ
you try not to laugh at his attempt to explain himself, and place a hand on his knee to stop him from bumbling.
âso howâd you get invited? are you a model or something?â you decided to ask, the question having been on your mind for a while.
he smiled, like he knew something you didnât, and shook his head.
ânothing like that. i⊠work with ferrari.â
your lips formed an âohâ of understanding as he kept talking.
âi usually do not come to these things, but i was in town.â
the lights dimmed, ending your conversation before you could reply, but as you turned your attention towards the runway, you felt charles shift towards you and whisper, âi am happy i decided to come. i am here with you,â before moving back as if nothing had happened.
was he flirting with you?
you smiled to yourself, allowing yourself a selfish moment of pride before taking your phone out and recording a video of the first model.
charles didnât bother you too much for the rest of the show, only leaning over every now and again to share his thoughts on whichever outfit was being walked down the runway. you found yourself agreeing with many of his opinions, and he would smile whenever you told him so.
focussing back on a gorgeous denim set walking past, you caught him in the corner of your eye nodding his head slightly to the music, then pursing his lips and leaning towards you again.
âyou look beautiful, by the way,â he murmured softly, âi donât know what you look like when youâre not at fashion shows, but iâm sure itâs beautiful too.â
oh, he was definitely flirting.
another model walked past, and you took the opportunity to lean over and whisper back in his ear, âi canât lie and say youâre not pretty handsome too.âÂ
a slight flush covered his cheeks, though you couldnât say definitively that it wasnât because of the scarlet dress strutting past at the moment. then, he was quiet for a while, and you worried you had upset him somehow.Â
your fears were alleviated when you felt his body move closer once more.Â
âi think we should have a dinner together.â
you turned your head to look at charles in the eyes, to gauge if he was being serious or not.Â
he looked serious about it, albeit there was a cheeky smile playing at the corners of his mouth.Â
with the way he was looking at you so intently, how could you not say yes?
âiâm free tonight, if you are too.â
a smile finally broke out on his face as he nodded enthusiastically.Â
âif you let me rush back to my hotel and change after this, you can pick me up atâŠâ you checked the time on your phone quickly, ânine?â
at his insistence, you scribbled down your number onto a scrap piece of paper you'd found in your purse, making him promise to call when he arrived at your hotel. he replied by pressing the paper to his lips, closing his eyes as he kissed it, then tucking it away in a pocket, returning both of your attentions to the runway, though he was sitting much closer to you than he had been before.
the rest of the show seemed to pass twice as quickly, the idea of your date with the handsome man next to you occupying most of your thoughts, although a few pieces you had eyed up on the runway were also on your mind, making you wonder if you could add them to your personal wardrobe afterwards.Â
after rocco iannone came out from backstage and thanked everyone for coming, the house lights came on, and a gentle chatter filled the room as the audience bid their goodbyes to each other at the end of the show.
charles offered you his arm, helping you up. no doubt the paparazzi would have a field day with those pictures. you could practically picture the second-rate gossip magazine headlines already.
the two of you navigated your way to the doors, hand in arm the whole way. you exchanged thoughts on the show to each other, telling the other which clothes really caught your attention, or which model surely had a great career ahead of them.
recognising your publicist from earlier, charles dropped you off in front of her, introducing himself when she said hello.Â
âweâre going to dinner after this,â you mentioned to her, âso after we get back to the hotel, you can have a well-deserved night off, yeah?â
she waved you off jokingly and, after glancing down at her phone, told you your driver would be pulling up about now.
âiâll call you when i am there to pick you up, chĂ©rie.â charles stepped away from you, kissing your hand again before disappearing into the crowd, presumably to find his team.Â
âheâs very charming~â your publicist nudged your shoulder, teasing you.Â
you rolled your eyes at her antics and took your arm in hers, leading the both of you outside to find the car.
â
you settled into the rented sprinter van and rested your head on your hand, watching the lights of the city zoom past your window as you drove down the streets of milan.
you snapped out of it when you heard your publicist calling your name. youâd missed what sheâd said, so you were left staring at her as she pushed her phone into your face.
it took a second to focus on the bright screen suddenly in your vision.Â
what you saw was a photo of charles and you from earlier in the night on vogue italia.Â
in the caption, though, was a description of your job and his.Â
âcharles leclerc, pilota di formula uno per la scuderia ferrari.â
scuderia ferrari formula one driver.Â
his words from before suddenly echoed in your head and you caught yourself grinning at the realisation. youâd assumed he was just a corporate employee, but noâ he was one of two drivers upholding the entire ferrari legacy in formula one right now.Â
somehow, you were even more excited for your dinner now, and if nothing came of the date, you could at least go home to your friends and laugh about the first time youâd met a formula one driver. biting back another smile, you were already picturing your wardrobe at the hotel, mentally picking out what you should wear.Â

CHAPTER I: ALL HAIL NIGHTRIDER
pairing: street racer!reader x billie eilish
MASTERLIST
warnings- cussing, drug use (weed), scorches (something fell on you and lightly and briefly burned you, thatâs really it.)
wc: 3.7kâŠdamn
authors note: this is my first actual fic on here and iâm nervous as hell to publish it. let me know what yâall think. also anyone can read this (reader is fem tho i forgot to put that) like reader is not heavily described only physical descriptions would be through family descriptions.
âDude, where the hell am I supposed to go?â Billieâs voice was almost swallowed by the bustling crowd as she called out to her friend on the phone.
âI saidââ Her friendâs voice was distorted, breaking up as the connection faltered. Between the weak signal, the endless chatter of people crowding around her, and the constant bumping of bodies as she waded through the sea of strangers, Billie was overstimulated and ready to turn around and go home.
She raised her phone high in the air, stretching her arm up in a desperate attempt to catch a stronger signal. She stood like that for a good minute, nudging into people who glared or muttered curses under their breath. Her frustration melted into relief when she felt a hand grasp her forearm, spinning her around.
âGod, there you are man.â she exhaled in relief when she realized it was her friend. âIâve been literally shouting at my phone like iâm insane. People keep fucking staring at me,â she added, casting side-eyes at the annoyed faces around her as she moved closer to her best friend.
âWell, Iâve got you now, so letâs just go,â her friend laughed, wrapping an arm around Billieâs shoulders and steering her through the throng of people to where the rest of the group was gathered.
They came to a halt in front of a crooked, black wire fence embedded into the patchy grass and dirt. The track lay just beyond, close enough that she could see the dust and rubble scattered on the pavement.
Billieâs breath hitched as she stared out at the cars lined up on the track. She leaned against the fence, eyes wide and mouth agape, taking in every gleaming detailâsome vehicles boasted flashy modifications, while others were classic models still in their original forms. Her excitement and awe were almost childlike, as if she were experiencing the best Christmas of her life.
âHow much are you betting?â one of her friends asked, snapping her out of her trance.
âHuh?â Billie replied, still entranced by the sight before her, eyes glistening under the bright floodlights.
âI said, who are you betting on and how much? I might match it,â the friend whispered as if it were a closely guarded secret.
âUhâshit, man, I donât know. Lemme see.â
Her gaze swept over the cars lined up from back to front, her eyes scanning each driver hanging around their vehiclesâlikely waiting for the race to start. And then, she spotted it. You.
Or rather, your car.
A smooth, lustrous, sable-black custom GT500 sat front and center. The tires glowed faintly in a soft lilac hue, casting a mesmerizing light over the soot-covered terrain. A raven, intricately engraved on the back right side of the car, shimmered with deep violet accents, giving the vehicle an almost ethereal quality.
You sat at the very front of the starting line, so close to the crowd that if you focused, you could catch snippets of their conversations. Your windows, tinted so dark no one could see inside, were rolled down halfway, allowing the warm glow of lights from the track and your carâs interior to cast delicate shadows across your face. Soft music drifted from the vehicle, mingling with the cacophony of the streets.
âTo take my love away, when I come back around, will I know what to say?â
Billieâs eyes widened and her heart jumped a little when she realized what song was playing softly from your car. She knew that song. The melody, the lyricsâit was Chihiro.
Her song.
âOh my God, Zoe, sheâs playing my song!â she blurted out excitedly.
âWho? Billie, who?â
âHer, right there in the black car.â
âThe one with the bird?â
âYes, the one with the fucking bird.â
âCan you tell who it is?â
âUhâŠno.â Billie squinted, trying to make out your face, but all she could see was your hair cascading down your back in a cascade of purple and grey highlights. You seemed engrossed in something in your lap, brows furrowed in concentration.
Your car chimed as the door opened and rocked slightly as someone climbed into the passenger seat. The radioâs bass thrummed louder into the night as the beat dropped along with the chorus.
âOh my God, youâre still rolling up? This is why I get pre-rolls,â the passenger teased, irritation lacing their tone as they glanced at you. The irritation in her voice made you smirk, but you kept your eyes on the blunt you were carefully twisting between your fingers.
You lifted your head, resting your elbow on the armrest. âBut they donât look as pretty as this one, now do they?â you teased back, handing over the blunt youâd been working on. The passenger rolled her eyes but took it from you, holding it delicately in the air inspecting it.
âYeah, yeah, whatever,â she grumbled. Her long acrylic nails clicked against the blunt as she placed it in her mouth with practiced ease and sparked it up with a flick of her lighter. The cherry of the blunt glowed a vibrant ember in the dim light as she inhaled.
Her red and black racing suit, with the name Blaze stitched onto the left sleeve, fit snugly against her frame. Silky, pressed black hair, highlighted with streaks of red and pink, fell to her upper back in waves and curls, framing her sun-kissed face. Her slender brown eyes gleamed with a look of concern as she exhaled, the scent of weed wafting through the car.
A ping sounded from your phone, drawing you back in. You picked it up, eyes narrowing at the notification:
11 new messages from Mom
âYou good?â she asked, leaning over to glance at your screen.
âNo. Itâs my mom again. Sheâs been blowing up my phone ever since I left this morning.â You sighed and took the blunt from her hand, not caring about the remnants of her sticky lip gloss left on the wrap. You knew your lips would leave the same trace. She took your phone, unlocking it without hesitation. You knew sheâd handle it while you leaned back, taking a long drag, your gaze drifted to the night sky, watching how the stars shimmered against the inky backdrop.
âI keep thinking that this is a bad dream, and that if I try hard enough, I just might wake up,â you murmured.
âYeah, well, this sad-ass music isnât helping,â she joked. As if on cue, the next track startedâan upbeat tempo that vibrated through the carâs interior. your heart beat matched as the bass trembled throughout your body. ej bounced in her seat, trying to lighten the mood.
âUht-uh,â you protested, disconnecting your phone from the Bluetooth. âDonât go changing my shit. My car, my music. You know the rules. Besides, itâs not sad.â
âYes, it is. Thatâs like Billie Eilishâs whole schtick, isnât it?â she scoffed. âOh, by the way, sheâs here.â
âWho?â You turned to look at her, confused.
âBillie. Eilish. The singer. Sheâs right over there,â she said, pointing.
You leaned over her, eyes darting around the crowd. âWhere? I donât see her.â All you saw were the flag bearers collecting extra bets on the side, cash being shuffled and tossed in baskets.
âWait, what? Where?â
âOver thereââ She pointed, and you leaned over her, eyes darting around.
âOh my god, girl, sheâs *right over there*!â your friend shouted, exasperated.
Hearing this, Billie looked over. Blue eyes met yours. EJâs shout of frustration caught Billieâs attention, and her gaze drifted back to your car. She lifted her hand in a tentative wave, offering a soft smile.
Your eyes widened in panic. Instead of waving back, both you and EJ ducked, bumping into your friend in the process, shouting curses at each other. The forgotten blunt fell into your lap, searing through your suit and burning you in the process.
âAhâdamn it,â you muttered, picking it up and handing it to her. Her soft hands brushed against yours as she took it, putting it out and storing the remnants in a container before stuffing it in the glove compartment.
âYou looked so rude. You shouldâve waved back.â EJ chided, side-eyeing you.
âShut up,â you muttered, reconnecting your phone to the car. The opening notes of âGoosebumpsâ by Travis Scott filled the space, the beat thrumming through your body.
âListen, I get that youâre going through a lot right now, but I need you to lock the fuck in. You need that money, and Iâd hate to see you lose.â
âI know. Iâve got it. Donât worry.â
âGood, âcause itâd be a shame for me to wipe the floor with your ass. Youâll be begging for mercy when weâre done.â Her sudden switch to competitiveness made you laugh.
The sight of the flag girl approaching your car caught your attention. You watched as your friend climbed out and into her own car. The flag bearer checked to make sure you were set before returning to her position at the starting line.
âReady, Rider?â
Even though you were wearing your riding gear, the hairs on your body stood up as the crisp breeze snuck through the open window and washed over you. Your arm dangled out of the car, fingers loosely tapping against the exterior, while your other hand gripped the steering wheel firmly. The hum of your car vibrated through your entire being, a calming rhythm that matched the beat of your heart. Around you, the other drivers started revving up their engines, plumes of smoke and gas curling up into the air, mixing with the noise of the restless crowd.
"As ready as I can be." you called out, turning your gaze to your best friend and rival. Her car was parked right beside yoursâan M4 F82 that was as sleek and black as the night sky. Its red headlights burned like fiery eyes glaring through the darkness like a beast ready to pounce, and the rims, designed into the shape of hearts, shone brightly against the pavement.
You remembered how sheâd insisted on having them when you guys went to pick out your first racing cars. âBecause Iâm âjust a girlâ â sheâd declared, sticking up her middle finger at the guys who laughed at her. Sheâd never cared what anyone thought, not when sheâd made them eat their words in nearly every race, leaving them in the dust while looking good doing it.
The hum of motors built into a crescendo as everyone continued to rev their engines, the anticipation and excitement electrifying the brisk night air.
âIs everyone ready?â The flag bearer stepped in front of the starting line, checkered flags poised high in the air. Shouts of agreement and cheers erupted from the crowd, adding to the energy of the moment.
You hovered your foot over the gas pedal, adrenaline coursing through your veins.
âReady.â
You glanced at the starting line, taking a deep breath as your fingers tightened around the wheel. Eyes closed, you drew in a deep breath, focusing. All the energy, anger, and frustration from earlier started bubbling up to the surface.
âSet.â
With your eyes shut, the words from this morning's argument with your parents flashed through your mind:
âYouâll never be like him.â
âRacing isnât something you can do forever.â
âYou need to fix your shit. This hobby will get you nowhere.â
âYouâve become such a disappointment. What happened to you? Where did I go wrong?â
All that pain, all that bitternessâyou channeled it, letting it fuel you.
âGo!â
The words barely left her mouth before your eyes flew open. For a brief moment, the world went still and everything seemed to fall away. It was just you, your car, and the road. Your foot pressed down on the gas pedal, and you took off, the lilac lights on your car morphing into an intense, inky purple as your tires gripped the pavement.
You felt weightless, like a feather caught in the wind, as you accelerated, the track lights casting an ethereal glow over the cars. The world blurred around you, every twist and turn coming effortlessly, your hands moving as if on instinct.
A constant ringing broke through your focus. Your phone vibrated repeatedly, the lit screen showing multiple notifications. You took a quick glance, irritation flaring up as you scrolled through them.
- 5 new missed calls from Mom
- 20 new texts from Fam GC
- 2 new voicemails from Mama J
- 3 new texts from Dad
Your fingers hovered over the voicemail from Mama J, your heart tightening as you reluctantly hit play.
âHey sweetheart. Now I donât know whatâs happening between you and your parents, but theyâre blowing up my phone, asking about youâŠâ You rolled your eyes in annoyance. Typical of them to involve someone else when you refused to entertain their bullshit. âIâm not trying to get in between this, but what I will say is that you need to call them people. Or at least call your mother and stop running away frââ
You turned off your phone and tossed it back into the passenger seat, jaw clenched in frustration. You loved your Mama J, but you werenât in the mood to hear any more of that nonsense. Not now, not during this. You got enough of it from your parents, you donât need to hear it from your godmother either.
Your grip on the wheel tightened as your chest rose and fell with deep, heavy breaths. The fight with your parents played on a loop in your head, every word an echo that grew louder and more taunting.
âLook, all Iâm saying is that I donât understand why you continue to choose racing when you know how I feel about itâhow we feel about it.â
âMa, I get where youâre coming from, butââ
âIâm telling you right now, you will get nothing from this. You already have a good jobâwhy must you go and ruin it by doing this foolish nonsense?â
âFuck this. Like, actually fuck them.â You muttered the words aloud, forgetting for a moment that the line was still open, and your best friend, EJ, was listening on the other end.
âYo, are you good? Like actually?â Her voice was laced with concern, crackling through the carâs speakers and snapping you back to reality.
âY-yeah, I think so. Why?â
âBecause youâre falling so behind that Nick is beating you. Mind you he literally canât race for shit. Girl, câmon!â
âFuck,â you cursed under your breath, eyes darting to the rearview mirror. Sure enough, you were lagging behind. The other drivers had taken advantage of your distraction, speeding past and leaving you in the dust.
âAnd stop worrying about what my mama said. Sheâs just playing messenger. Weâll handle it when we get home, okay?â
âYeah. Okay.â You nodded even though she couldnât see you, your foot pressing down harder on the gas pedal.
âIt will be okay, just hurry your ass up.â
The car lurched forward as you pushed it to its limits, the rush of adrenaline pumping through your blood like fire. Everything else melted awayâthe arguing voices in your head, the messiness of the family dramaâall of it evaporated, leaving just you and the open road. You swerved expertly between cars, dodging obstacles and maneuvering through sharp turns, the wind roaring in your ears.
Thisâright here, right nowâthis was freedom. This was why you kept coming back, no matter how bad things got. The thrill, the speed, the way your heart seemed to beat in time with the roar of your engine. It made all the god forsaken bullshit in your life disappear, if only for a little while.
The white of the finish line came into view, a grin breaking across your face as you accelerated one last time, crossing it just seconds before anyone else.
Youâd placed first.
You pressed on the brakes, heart pounding wildly as you let out a shaky breath, leaning back in your seat.
âCongrats! See what happens when you block out the bullshit and focus?â EJâs voice rang out as she parked beside you, hopping out and pulling you into a hug.
The two of you leaned against the hood of your car, laughing and catching your breath, your excitement palpable. You could hear someone shouting your name, prompting you to look around until your eyes landed on the culprit.
âWhat the fuck, dude,â she whispered to her best friend as she stared in awe.
âWhat?â Zoe asked, glancing back and forth between you and Billie. âBillie, youâve been staring at her all night. Letâs just go say hey.â she wrangled with the gate until she got it open.
âI did though. I waved, and she hid from me,â Billie grumbled, but Zoe ignored her, practically dragging her over to where you were standing.
You turned and your eyes locked with Billieâs for the second time that night. This time, she took you in fully, studying every detailâthe way your eyes gleamed under the lights, how your glossed lips shone, and the soft cascade of purple and grey streaks of hair framing your face.
âOh my god, Zoe, is that you?â You greeted Zoe first, pulling her into a tight hug as the two of you exchanged a few words. Then, you turned your gaze back to Billie, offering a small smile.
âWhoâs your friend here?â you asked, nodding towards Billie.
âSorry, this is my best friend, Billie.â
âWell, hi Billie,â you said, your tone gentle and welcoming. The way her name rolled off your lips made Billieâs stomach do a little flip. You kept your gaze steady, not once breaking eye contact. âHowâd you enjoy the race?â
âI really liked it.â Billie smiled softly, but before she could say more, Zoe chimed in.
âThis is her first race. I practically had to drag her here.â
âReally?â You tilted your head, curiosity piqued. âWell, Iâm glad you came. Whoâd you bet on?â
âI didnât get a chance. The race started too soon. But if I couldâve, it wouldâve been you. Your car looked sweet as hell.â She rocked on her heels, trying to keep her cool, but you could tell she was nervous. It was cute.
âThanks, I appreciate the support.â
She shrugged casually, but her eyes lingered on your face. âItâs whatever.â
âIs there something on my face?â You laughed, wiping at your cheeks just in case.
âNo, no,â she stammered, shaking her head. âItâs just⊠youâre so gorgeous.â
The compliment caught you off guard, and you couldnât stop the smile that stretched across your face, even though you tried to play it off. âOh my god, girl, stop playing.â
âIâm serious,â she insisted, stepping closer.
âCould say the same about you, pretty.â
âReally?â Billieâs eyebrow quirked. âBecause it didnât seem like it when you hid from me earlier.â
âShit, you saw that?â You asked, rubbing the back of your neck. âI normally wouldâve waved back, but I gotâI donât knowâscared, I guess. Well, not scaredââ You trailed off, looking up at the night sky, searching for the right word as her laughter rang out. Hearing her laugh threw you off, causing a small grin to creep up on your face. âOkay, whatever the fuck the word is,â you muttered, giving up with a light chuckle of your own. âBut... Iâm sorry.â
âNah, donât sweat it. it was kinda cute.â Billieâs eyes did another slow sweep over your frame, lingering on every detail like she was trying to commit it to memory.
âStop looking at me like that, bro.â
âLike what?â
âLike that.â You shook your head, glancing away as if thatâd hide the heat creeping up your cheeks and the way your smile stretched wider every second. You turned your gaze back, realizing something. âWhereâs Zoe?â She was supposed to be around somewhere, helping you avoid embarrassing yourself too much with your obviousâand very clumsyâflirting. But she was nowhere in sight.
Your eyes swept over the parking lot until you finally spotted her lounging on the hood of EJâs car, chatting it up with your best friend.
âHey, uhâdo you maybe wanna take my car for a ride?â you blurted out, shifting your weight between your feet.
Billieâs eyes widened, surprise flashing across her face. âAre you serious?â
âYeah, why not? Itâll just be a few minutes.â
She wandered over, running her fingers along the sleek lines of your car, eyes alight with curiosity. âDamn, this is really something,â she murmured almost to herself, voice low. A small whistle escaped her as she took in the intricate details and custom work. You were just about to toss her the keys whenâ
*Woop Woop*
The sound of sirens pierced through the air. Blue and red lights started flooding the lot, casting sharp, flickering shadows everywhere.
âFuck. Okay, yâall need to get out of here. Now.â Your voice was rushed as you bolted back to the driverâs side.
âEJ, Iâll meet you at your house,â you shouted, throwing yourself into your seat and jamming the key into the ignition. The roar of your engine masked the rising panic around you. âZoeâs got my number,â you called out to Billie over the commotion. âSheâll give it to you, and we can talk about that ride later!â That was the last thing you managed to say before you and everyone else peeled out of the lot, tires screeching against the pavement as a sea of cop cars closed in fast.
Billie stood there, frozen, eyes locked on your car as you sped away. The flashing red and blue lights reflected off her pale face, her expression caught somewhere between awe and disbelief. Zoe had to physically drag her back, yanking her arm until she stumbled out of her daze.
âCâmon, we have to go now!â
You glanced into your rearview mirror, catching one last glimpse of Billie as she stood rooted to the spot, staring after you. Zoe tugged her along, but she kept looking back, even as the sirens blared louder and the chaos around them spiraled.
There was no way EJ wouldnât hear every single detail about tonight. If she thought you werenât about to gush for the next few hours, she was just plain wrong.

Zhongli x Reader / NSFW / Modern AU / Zhongli is a retired racer that now trains novices and enjoys the occasional midnight ride with his beloved Racer/biker Zhongli food: @Donot__reupload @eriimyon @danijaci301
Salty wind rushed around your helmet and tossed the ends of your hair into the air as the two of you sped across the empty overpass. You had come to appreciate the steady hum of the engine, the stability that comes with high speed, and the simple joy of letting go of all your troubles while you rode. Although Zhongli no longer raced, he still found time in his busy schedule to take you out on a midnight ride to the harbor every weekend. He knew how much you loved these rides. It had always been a timeless ritual, an unspoken contract between the two of you.
It was hard to imagine you used to be terrified of motorcycles. The lack of metal barriers and airbags to brace a collision was a vulnerability you never quite got over. However, with your arms tightly wrapped around Zhongli's waist, it felt like his back was the safest place on Teyvat. As long as he was in front of you, nothing could possibly hurt you.
"The moon is full tonight. It's quite the view, wouldn't you say?" He noted as he helped you remove your helmet and get off the bike.
You took a seat beside Zhongli on the bench. It was the same one he always parked beside.
"There's a bit of a breeze." He gathered you close, wrapping an arm around your body.
You let your head rest against Zhongli's shoulder. The scent of his leather jacket brought back old memories.
After years of nail-biting anxiety over possibly losing him to the track, he finally retired and retreated to the sidelines, leaving the limelight for young protégés like Xiao to pursue. Every journey has its final day, he used to say. In all the years you've been with him, you never rushed him. To love someone means to love what they hold dear. Be it towards you or the track, his dedication was steadfast. Just because his name will no longer appear on a scoreboard didn't mean he had cut all ties with that world. It would always be a part of him, as it would continue to be a part of you.
"You know, I barely see you in leather these days." You noticed.
He used to wear the material so often. These days, they had become somewhat exclusive of these late-night rides. Upon retirement, Zhongli seemed to prefer silk, cashmere, fine linens and tailored suits. It wasn't like he had shed his entire closet the moment he stepped down from the track. Your beloved always had an eye for finer things since he never had to stress over affording them. Understandably, his leather also happened to be insanely expensive and of the highest quality make.
In hindsight, they really did seem like attire he only donned when he was anticipating a ride. Perhaps he was just driving more often now. The less he rode, the less he wore them.
"Hm.. That seems to be the case." He noted, a tinge of curiosity in his tone. "Why do you bring it up?"
You ran the pad of your fingers down the front of his jacket. The smooth yet rigid texture of the material and the glinting metal of the zipper evoked a sense of guardedness and inviolability. It was worn to protect against harsh winds and durable enough to withstand wear and tear afterall. You slowly pulled the zipper down, revealing the thin turtleneck that he wore underneath. Zhongli didn't interrupt your little daze, an intrigued pair of amber eyes following your every move. It felt like you were skinning him to get to the softness you knew was inside.
You took in a steady breath, suddenly feeling a little daring. Zhongli leaned into your touch. The warmth of your skin spreading through the fabric of his shirt was almost intoxicating. It didn't help that you had just tugged the bottom of his shirt free and slipped your hand underneath. He quickly wrapped a gloved hand around your wrist, which you realized now was also made of leather.
"Now darling, although I'm flattered that the sight of me in leather arouses you, are you sure you want to proceed with undressing me here?" He whispered into your ear, effectively snapping you out of your lust-induced spell.
"No, of course not!" You quickly let go of his clothes, face burning up in self-consciousness. "I was just wondering if you're dressed warm enough. I don't want you to catch a cold."
"I appreciate your concern, dear." He chuckled. "Perhaps we should head back. Have you taken in enough of the view?"
You flushed even more at his reminder. The view was beautiful, there was no refuting that, but tonight your attention was not going where it was intended. All you wanted to do was get home and get to the bottom of this newfound fixation of yours.
Zhongli placed the helmet back over your head, covering your blushing face. The entire ride home, it was like a switch had been flipped on in you. Your senses were in disarray and your mind was in the gutter. All you could do was hold on. Perhaps he could feel your hands clutching fistfulls of his jacket. At the red, he reached down and slid a gloved hand over your thigh, causing you to squirm in your seat. The wind was doing nothing to cool down your heated thoughts.
As soon as the door swung open, your arms were around Zhongli's neck and your lips were pressed against his. He dealt with the task of closing and locking the front door while you busied yourself with his zipper.
The leather jacket he wore was black with a dull shine, subtle and provocative at the same time. Your fingers glided over the velvety material. When you gripped it tightly, there was a satisfying thickness to it. It was cool to the touch but warmed up nicely when you held it long enough. You couldn't seem to get enough of it. Neither could you make up your mind on whether you wanted to keep it on him or rip it off.
The two of you didn't even manage to make it to the bedroom. Your lips trailed wet kisses against his neck and his gloved hands slipped underneath your skirt. The added friction of the leather caused you to writhe against his palm as he touched you through the soaked fabric of your panties.
"Dear..." He removed his hand, glove covered in your slick. "What on Teyvat's gotten into you?"
Zhongli guided you into his lap as he took a seat. Your eyes rose up to meet Zhongli's as he cupped your face in his palms. Ever the attentive lover, he could tell that there was something off about you tonight. It had all seemingly started with that harmless question about his attire.
"I think I might have a thing for leather." You managed in a single breath.
"Well, that is quite the revelation, isn't it?" He chuckled, delighted by what he was hearing. "I will certainly keep that in mind for the future."
"The future?"
He nodded in all seriousness. "Now that I know such materials excite you perhaps I can incorporate a few more pieces into my wardrobe for your viewing pleasure."
You playfully smacked him across the chest. "Yeah, definitely get some harnesses and some leather briefs while you're at it."
He pulled you in for another drawn out kiss, leaving you lightheaded and panting.
"Perhaps you could pick them out for me." He planted a kiss on the rim of your ear.
You giggled, trying to avoid the ticklish sensations while his lips chased after your earlobe.
"Don't... mind if I... do..." Your words dissolved as soon as they left your lips.
"Do you want me to remove them?" He asked you before tugging on his gloves.
"No, keep them on. I like the feel of them."
"Very well."
"Take the shirt off though." You ordered.
Zhongli shrugged off the jacket, then removed the turtleneck underneath.
"Put it back on." You handed him back the leather jacket.
He chuckled, taking it from your hand. "You really are insisting on this."
"Of course. I know what I want."
You leaned into him, running your hands over his chest. The luxurious silk lining of the jacket brushed against the back of your hand as you ventured downwards.
"So sure of yourself. I've always admired that aspect about you." He praised.
You felt his gaze on your face as your fingers diligently worked his belt and pants open. A shallow breath left Zhongli's lips when you finally freed his bulge from the confines of his attire.
Zhongli helped you out of your blouse, but left your skirt on since it did nothing to hinder him. As soon as he got rid of your undergarments, you pressed your body flush into his. You buried your face in the nape of his neck as you lowered yourself onto his cock. The heat from your body caused the leather of his jacket to cling to your skin.
A soft groan escaped Zhongli as he felt you begin to rock yourself against him, your hips rolling into a steady rhythm.
"Oh... my sweet..." He sighed, hands falling against your waist. "Are you sure you wouldn't rather I take this off? It seems to be causing you some discomfort."
The uneven teeth of the zipper grated against your sensitive skin despite the contrasting softness of the leather. You closed your eyes, focusing on the speed of your movements.
"I'm fine..." You answered breathlessly, trying your best to ride him at a steady pace.
"You fit me like a glove, darling." He groaned with pleasure. "So warm and tight."
"Am I going fast enough?"
"You're doing great." He said as he guided your hands over his shoulders.
Zhongli's voice was steady and encouraging, almost like the first time he taught you to ride a motorcycle. With the way you were straddling him, hands clutching his shoulders like a pair of handlebars, you couldn't help but see the similarity. You wondered if he realized it yet. The thought stuck a goofy smile over your lips, but when he asked, you refused to elaborate.
You faintly remembered falling asleep with that jacket of his clutched to your chest and his arms wrapped tightly around you. The leathery smell intertwined with him, resulting in a warm and earthy scent. Your lips curled as your dreams revisited your memories. The first time you saw him, the moment you met him, your first date, your first kiss, the night he took you home, the countless times you rode with him, that scent had always been present. Naturally, if it went missing, your body would crave it.

synopsis: businessman!toji visits the strip club for the first time in his life and has quite the experience (short asf, testing this new format hehe)

.
.
.
businessman!toji who decided to say âfuck itâ and go to the strip club with his coworkers this weekend instead of going home to his nagging wife and the six month old babyâs loud cries. his colleagues would always invite him, but toji constantly refused, as he was sure it would cause a strain in his marriage. this time, one of his coworkers and close friends, satoru gojo was able to convince him.
businessman!toji who is thoroughly impressed by the clubâs interior design. he expected it to be trashy and stinky, but it was quite the opposite. his emerald eyes scan through the place and watch how men leaned back into the comfortable seats as the sexy, barely clothed dancers grinded on them and danced on the poles. âhm, not badâ
businessman!toji whoâs friends try to talk him into requesting a private session on their tab. âsince itâs your first time, yâknow?â heâs hesitant as he glances at his friendâs blue eyes and then back up to the many women performing stunts on poles. his wife wouldnât like this at all, but she isnât here is she? âalright, get me a good one thoughâ
businessman!toji who sits calmly in the dimly lit private room with his legs widespread and arms folded, awaiting his service. he slightly taps his feet to the faint music and decides to pour himself a glass of the high quality whiskey. one sip and he could already feel his tense muscles relax, which was perfect since his service had finally arrived.
businessman!toji who stares at you intently as you slowly make your way towards him. your body already had him thinking wild things. âso, first timer, huh?â the sultriest voice he had ever heard asked. he smirked at the young woman before him in her maroon lingerie set, which barely covered her private areas. her pussy lips were practically hanging out, the areoles around her hard nipples peaked through the thin fabric and her plump ass was on full display.
businessman!toji who canât help but release some grunts here and there while you danced on him to the tune of a sexy, slow jazz song. he could feel your throbbing bud on his hardened bulge and your nipples grazing his torso with each smooth whine. âdamn, how many men do you do this for? ya seem like a veteran..â
businessman!toji whoâs had enough of your teasing and pulls out a hefty tip from his wallet, slides into the side of your thong and orders you to âtake it offâ, nodding at your bra. he chuckled when u instantly obliged â what a money loving, obedient little whore you are.â
businessman!toji whoâs aggressively sucking on your buds while his big, manly hands knead your ass cheeks. he enjoys hearing your pathetic whimpers and moans âoh yes daddy!â that one almost made his cock spring out of his slacks.
businessman!toji who has you in a deep arch as he drills into you on the black leather sofa. he holds both your wrists to your lower back with one hand as the other tightly held your head into the couch, muffling your cries and screams. the sounds of skin slapping, leather scraping and the dirty smell of your arousal have him in a daze, one thatâs only contributing to his insane stamina.
businessman!toji who releases a thick load into your pussy without giving a fuck about a possible pregnancy âthere you go, better fuckinâ take it all bitchâ. he lets go of you and sits back, watching your pussy twitch and the liquids ooz out of it. âthatâs good..â
businessman!toji whoâs putting his clothes back on, not providing you with aftercare at all. this is your job, being nothing but a tool for his pleasure so why should he care? he takes more cash out his wallet and throws it at your sad, fucked out, cum filled body. âthanks, might come back with my friend next time.â

talking about the art style for this show because I am lowkey (high key) obsessed with it and how unique and genius it is.
Warning: this is sort of a long-ish post. Everything here stated is purely subjective lol
S1âs style has a certain charm to it but personally doesnât actually give me that wave of ânostalgiaâ (I started watching the show in 2023 summer) but it does have a certain aura to it. I personally love experimental styles and for the time this came out I still consider it to be very unique. Noting the experimental phase of it where things look less polished and the line weight isnât as well executed as it is in the later seasons.
Using rigging for the time this series came out was certainly a bold choice with the realism and complex designs that this show used while also having a perfect balance with well done cartoony style. Archer is one of the most well known cartoons when you look into rigged animation! Floyd Countyâs process of using Illustrator and After effects together at the time was certainly bold as well. The team for this show was not as big as most people might think, as it states in the Art of Archer book that there were around 70 artists, illustrators, etc.. that worked on production. Compared to the average Hollywood animated movie, itâs surely a small crew. Using multiple levels for character movement, as the usual storyboarding thatâs essential for any animated project (you cannot have a quality animated series without story boarding!), having to design an entire new model when the state of any character changes (scars, scrapes, torn clothes, etc..) which becomes a lot of extra strain, along with the actual design process in illustrator and using skeletal positioning as well. Itâs truly impressive imo!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4da449e0bf05e170789d2bd219950446/87cda6ba9925b4aa-34/s540x810/65286cca236ad75bd75187b13f347eca5daa2cc3.jpg)
The backgrounds and settings throughout the show were also very cleverly executed. Using 3d modeling and royalty free assets to paint textures and the amount of detail was insane. Apparently Adam had a good eye for everything.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/304005065c9c57399d51c9c6408ace80/87cda6ba9925b4aa-f8/s540x810/d852f3df718e8c118fe49cc49f797d4ee7f003c2.jpg)
I really admire the effort that goes into all of the details in the showâs settings, along with the painted scenery. Which only improves over time. As you can see the quality difference between the earlier seasons and the latest.

S1 Maloryâs office and S2 Tunt Manor

S6 Office and Tunt Manor. Notice the different in light fixtures and textures, the marble walls moving away from more of a tile texture, and the lighting in Maloryâs office is much more smooth, the texture of the chairs, etc.. I love the improvement.
The more obvious and interesting part about all of this is the actual character design changing over time. I will always wonder what those first season 1 and 2 storyboards looked like. (If anyone ever finds any info on that please feel free to let me know! Ik thereâs a few artists portfolios out there that are more easy to find and Iâve seen S12/11/etc..)
As with S1, it had a certain charm to it in which I love. The funny looking experimental angles, I wish we got to see more of, just for the silliness alone. Im glad they tried their best with dynamic poses. </3
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ab7489750f6a55f18e7a2d6b377e6fc3/87cda6ba9925b4aa-67/s540x810/4ca6928495482e908081b192a58fc2805bf3a81e.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4af5edc24aa158f1daf69c3070fb42bb/87cda6ba9925b4aa-89/s540x810/5ae98fc69aaba5f8211f5a36e468f018f9059d7b.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e99fcddbe29d6bcf03d8c8bd07b7760c/87cda6ba9925b4aa-d0/s540x810/8ddddfc3c2565c905acdc34d55597420367e7735.jpg)
Iâd say thereâs definitely even just a difference between the line weight in S1 vs S2, itâs slightly more smooth in S2 depending on the pose. Depending on the show youâre watching, I noticed line weight is sort of an underrated and mostly overlooked technique upon other people Iâve seen talk about art styles. It adds a lot of depth. Dynamic poses are not easy.
Not all line weight is used for dynamic posing though
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2fe1dc3262e490ff47426ef01f8e730b/87cda6ba9925b4aa-50/s540x810/f8baa3b467705e91893537e7314c332dd5166198.jpg)
I love this shot in particular. From what I remember and notice the most is that this is the first shot in the show where thereâs much detail like the card reflection of the characters, theyâre flipped like proper mirroring (obviously the modelling is not perfect for Ray, he still looks a little janky which isnât a huge shock since we only saw him a handful of times in previous season) But the line weight for Maloryâs thumb is something I appreciate very much and just thought this was a cool shot and shows a huge step up. The text boldness and format is also well done.
I guess the last elephant in the room surely is the actual style for the characters changing over time. There are about 3 different changes throughout the series, based on looks, clothing and movement. I wont get into specifics but it is always going to be entertaining to me how stiff and wonky certain shots looked. Not everything looked super goofy though.
I will never hate you scoliosis Lana </3

Itâs very entertaining to see the changes through out the show.

(Maloryâs hair was a tragic mess. Bless her cold heart <3)
First two seasons are where its flip flopped the most. Models were more stiff, tho on the brighter side the movements were still up to par with the action scenes. Itâs still perfection. Some of the one-offs had funny designs (Krimenski, Uta, Mannfred, etc..)
Fast forwarding to S3 is when the improvements finally come in,
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ff73261bef94627d778a8b74120cd765/87cda6ba9925b4aa-e4/s540x810/43830fd6be6a64eddfc528e3f55ad767f87d4602.jpg)

Noticeably mostly with Archer, Malory and Cyril (though he still has his old glasses. I much prefer his post S5 ones)
Lana and Ray still look a little off but certainly different in face shapes and Lana is much less- âSâ shaped lol. Pam has improved looks as well.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b73d1a26a3bcf7f8130b995ce97ba5eb/87cda6ba9925b4aa-98/s540x810/b97be9694d0580d87eaf22c3f53eb8f265d84b12.jpg)
The side profiles have had an improvement as well up to this point. But it doesnât change much going down the line. The side profiles are very rarely shown. Kriegerâs head finally looks less stiff as well. Cheryl looks completely different, with her hair being much more consistently styled. Also, notice the clothing saturation specifically, itâs much more toned down. The colours tend to match better more than they did before in S1 nd 2.
Completely new characterâŠ. Hah.
Moving on past S3, since the character models stay pretty much the same, everyone at this point has their new looks leveled out, notably Ray and Lana
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b9f071f7569798ee824f69954c1d7558/87cda6ba9925b4aa-a7/s540x810/a0ddce3f086146f5b4457ad1242fb1e9a9cbcbf9.jpg)
This style pretty much remains the same through out the next few couple seasons. The models and settings have a new flair, the lighting improved immensely, especially with Vice. I dont wanna drag this on for too long but the modeling stays the same until the coma seasons.
One of the biggest reasons I love the coma seasons is that it brings a lot more to the table for the show as I played around with 3 different completely new environments. It mostly likely brought a lot of new people to the production crew as it cover a lot of architectural different and themes (jungle islands, temples, spacecrafts, etc.. )
Going forward past the coma seasons straight to S11 is where the style gets a little harder to explain the huge differences. Backgrounds and shots look very polished and none of the characters look stiff in any way anymore.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/549550172fdc3721a9e89dc08611df9b/87cda6ba9925b4aa-fb/s540x810/833924692a42f58ec8cef581eb267ab68621cec8.jpg)
Weâve also gained more soft lighting on the characters compared to mostly pre S6, dynamic lighting was improved immensely. In the Art of Archer book the majority of the animation process that is presented is mostly BTS for S6 and so on, though it does go into the works of Vice, its mostly with the musical production though they do delve a bit into the music video, which is a whole other level of its own. The environmental feel excels greatly with the lighting changes and also background ambience. Much of which was actually visible in the Danger Phone mobile game (RIP </3) Iâve always thought the sound design in this show was clever enough but it got significantly better over time.. Atmosphere makes a big difference. Iâd love to add more specific examples but tumblr DOES have a limit on media that can be in one single post. But I can recommend going back and rewatching the show wearing headphones/earbuds and you will notice the difference.
Just a few extra things I wanted to point out is that as much as the animation has improved there are little quirks I do miss about the older seasons, for example the clothing colour changes. It really added more depth and realism to the show and I think despite it being subtle it was something that the majority of us fans enjoyed. But assuming they needed a different model for every colour worn, I could see why it was weeded out. Maybe it helped with the polish! Thatâs just personal bias.
The difference is subtle, but itâs there! The faces shapes and body proportions have been âimprovedâ slightly. But I genuinely think thats due to setting changes and having higher quality animation tools. But lighting makes a huge difference.
I donât have a lot of cons for the art style improvement besides really that ânostalgiaâ feeling a lot of ppl have for this show. I personally believe pre- S11 is when the artstyle was the best, of course with having a few sacrifices
Not sure how I feel about this one. He looks less like an ocelot in the right panel. The colours do look better but Babouâs eyes are eyes extremely different, not a fan of it. Some things just look better than before!
I would also like to take a moment to appreciate this galâs glow up.. Not to drive too far from the point of this post but Im glad they kept Trinette relevant.
Not 3, but 4 different improvements. Even though she has 3 completely different hairstyles thereâs still the difference in quality..
Anyhow, Iâve run out of gas for this post and Iâve pretty much covered mostly everything I wanted to go over. I definitely would like to cover more on this topic but unfortunately tumblr has different plans.
Anyways I love this show so much and everything a bit and probably has one of the most compelling art styles out there with a very passionate studio. I think Floyd County is unique on its own and even just outside the art style thereâs a lot more to be said about this showâs greatness. If you read this far and actually enjoyed reading my word vomit⊠well- thanks! Hoping to write more someday if I get any more literate than LOL
If i missed any details or got anything wrong then plz let me know! Most of everything here is subjective and I may perhaps be a bit biased with some things, but thats just me

oh my golly dude TADC episode three was PEAK.
(I can actually yap here unlike twitter with a character limit)
spoilers btw obviously
the start was AWESOME, I love how saturated, smooth, and cartoony the Circus segments are. I LOVE the balance between high quality and FPS but also still somewhat looking like a Wii game.
the Manor part was very peak, we got to see like.. A WHOLE 30 SECONDS AT LEAST OF HAPPY GANGLE (I will be tweaking for episode 4 (gangle episode)), I also like that we got a bit of Pomni characterization for small stuff about her.
Moving on, the Kinger parts were REALLY good. I like how we actually finally got Queener lore AND non-insane Kinger.
The Zooble therapy parts were really good, it was fun to see Zooble show an emotion that wasnât âf off Iâm not going on an adventureâ (also Caine half abstracting over Zooble saying the adventures sucked?? LMFAO??)
The rest of the episode was really good, I like how we got to see Pomni actually thank Ragatha (theyâre so gay dude) and also got to see KINGER SWEARING??
also Jax was so cool this episode for the few lines he got, he was so stylized and cartoony in this episode. Iâm glad TADC did so good cause they clearly (TADC3 and MD8 for example) now have the budget to make the episodes VERY close to the 2D art and storyboards of the characters/the artists original vision.
Very good overall, goose glitch and every1 else cooked so hard, I CANT WAIT FOR EPISODE 4 AND 5 DUDE GANGLE AND RAGATHA EPISODE IM GONNA TWEAK OUT DUDE URRGHHHH (oh and Gaslight District is coming out eventually, hope for news at GlitchX)
(btw sorry if thereâs an absurd amount of tags idk how tumblr works and Iâm used to TikTok tagging đđ)

Hi love! Your sims are GAWJUSSS. Literally breath taking. Iâve recently got back into playing ts3 and am loving it. I was wondering if you can recall the skin and/or makeup&accessories you used in Nyanaathâs makeover update here: https://www.tumblr.com/kosmokhaos/733942789751078912/i-feel-successful-now-cause-damn-ignore-the
Iâve been struggling so bad to find skins of high quality and detail that are darker hues, or eye/nose masks that donât lose detail the deeper the shade gets. I saw that you gave a resource list of skins a few years back when Nyanaath looked a lil different, so i wasnât sure if there was anything relatively new that you used or not. I see the pores and details in Nyanaathâs skin and am just dying to know how to get like you lmaoo
First of all, Hiii and thank you! đđHappy new year! Prepare for a bit of rambling but I link to some stuff in the end.
I want to start off saying that most of my sim pics are edited to some degree, especially previous pics from the past. I'm trying to rely less on editing to make my sims looks nice, but of course there is only so much you can do in a sims game.
This is an example of what Nyanaath's skin looks like unedited. EA lighting sucks ass and looks patchy in Sims 3 on dark colored objects in general and unfortunately, sims are not excluded. I end up smoothing the discoloration and patchiness with editing đ
Before vs After
Skins as dark as Nena's have to be made dark from the start because using a pale/light based skin and trying to use an in-game slider to darken it never turns out good in any game. Dark skin reflects light and shadows differently than light skin and needs its own already-dark base.
I will seriously consider trying to throw together a skinblend for male and female skins that are dark like this because I truly think there are none. BUUUUT LOL rambling aside I do have new recommendations for makeup and skin details since that post:
1. First up is @sourlemonsimblr for makeup. Especially for eyebrows and lipsticks! A lot of their lipsticks are insanely detailed and recolorable enough that they can fit most darker tones. Their skins are lovely too and they've even recently made a dark skin which I willđLink Heređ. I haven't gotten a chance to play with it yet but they always have quality stuff. Take a stroll through their Downloads page because it's definitely worth it. 2. Next up for skin detail makeups is @smallsimmer. They have so many good nose makes and eye/lip details that can be recolored to use on your darker skinned sims! If you ever had a skin you really liked and wanted to switch up the nose, eyes or lips, their skin detail makeup will absolutely come in clutch. They even have a few converted for child and toddler sims (something ts3 is lacking in)đLink Heređ 3. If you want some AF skins for darker sims that are readily available and detailed, I'd suggest @annoyinglydarkblaze I learned a lot about making skins from watching their journey into skin making a few years ago. Since they aren't as active anymore and their posts are a bit scattered I will link the skins I like best: đHeređ đHeređ and đHeređ 4. My next pick for more masculine/male-centered CAS makeup and CC is @nectar-cellar Their cc has been helpful as I slowly update my male OCs. The Beards/detail makeup torso muscled-torso meshes and clothing are some of the best. 5. I also suggest @simtanico for sliders and their detail makeup. I have just about every slider they've created đThey also make really well done maxis-match kinda styled clothes for male sims too.
I'm sure there are tons of other people I'm missing but its been a minute since I've been around simblr myself so I'll try to update this list as I go.
I'll also leave you with a little tip: Do NOT be afraid to use the opacity slider and layering with makeup on darker sims. Layering and opacity is your friend!
Happy Simming! đâš

Kind of couldnât let humanity forget about this.

About Hannibalâs drawing pencilsâŠ(Decided to make a whole separate post about Hannibal Lecterâs drawing supplies to keep all the things I figured out after really attentive, extensive and obsessive research & viewing. Thanks to @existingcharactersdiehorribly for signal boosting my original questions! Sharing the fruit of my labours for the good of all Fannibals.)
1. Free range psychiatrist drawing habits
Hannibal DOES, in fact, draw with Tombow MONO graphite drawing pencils! (Originally, I just tossed the idea out there because these beautiful Japanese pencils seemed to fit his style, and it was an accurate guess.) These are professional drawing pencils, high-density graphite, strong point, smooth line. Hannibal has several at hand when he is drawing (which makes sense since his drawings have different values): in one scene, heâs shown with four different pencils while working on one sketch.
In case you want to sketch like Baltimore socialite Hannibal, this is a Tombow MONO.
He sharpens them with a scalpel (again, makes sense, a blade is preferable to a pencil sharpener for a better point).
Hannibal doesnât seem to use a kneaded eraser, which is strange, nor have I spotted a blending stump (tortillon), but he has an ergonomically shaped triangular eraser. It looks like one of Faber-Castell grip erasers, the one Hannibal uses is the triangular shape but in a dark colour, possibly dark green (?). He also has a brush (to brush off the bits of eraser from the drawing).

2. Cooped up BSHCI resident drawing habits
Apparently Dr Alana Bloom provides Hannibal with quality drawing supplies. Unlike his usual set of hexagonal graphite pencils, Hannibal is seen with a single black round one. The lead is very black, suggesting a mix of charcoal and wax or charcoal and lead. It would have a soft matte finish. After squinting about 1001 times watching it roll over Hannibalâs table for half a second, I am certain it is Sanford Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencil, 935 Black, which is actually much more expensive than a single MONO drawing pencil (rough estimate: approx. $6.50 for 935 Black vs. approx. $1.50 for a Mono?). Alana is really pampering Hannibal.
In case you want to sketch like Hannibal in BSHCI, this is a Sanford Prismacolor Premier 935 Black.
(NB: Hannibal also uses a different pencil while in BSHCI, specifically, during the coversation with Alana about his insanity plea. The non-drawing tip is similar to the Tombow MONO, but I can give no definitive opinion yet.)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/bf16148fc03b9b79615513fecebf8205/3f68f16c873e5236-22/s540x810/08333eace906876e6e02380ce1d94e4d41e7adee.jpg)

So far I havenât been able to identify Hannibalâs drawing paper (loose sheets). He seems to use at least two types, one which appears heavier and with a warm tint (example), the other less heavy, smooth and prone to minor creasing (example), probably for looser preliminary sketches? But thereâs also an unfinished study of a woman on a warm-tinted (or perhaps yellowed with age?), thinner, slightly creased paper (this one). Examples from NBC Hannibal site.
If you have any ideas about the grain, weight, tint, and brand of Hannibalâs drawing paper, or any observations of his use of erasers and blending stumps, please let me know! Or just chime in if you, too, care about Hannibalâs drawing supplies.
cc: trobador (banned I think?)

damnation (peek VI?)
Warning: Yes, this is a yandere thing. Gender-neutral reader.
Characters: Ortho Shroud, Idia Shroud.
Summary: When you commit a crime, you receive a punishment. This is especially true in your society. No matter the crime, your punishment is the same: banishment. But to where you will be sent in exile and how miserable will it be? No one knows, because no one has ever returned.
Note:Â I was looking back at previous sneak-peeks and I realized I've been kinda spoiling y'all with these. But, don't ever let it be said that I don't cherish y'all, so here you go. While I'm currently about 2/3 of the way towards completing the result (if I don't have to rewrite it or change scenes or do anything major), the sneak-peek is only about eight or nine pages. Which is still a lot when you consider that the end result will be anywhere from 42 to 45 pages. Let's hope that I continue writing at this steady pace. I will not give a date for when this is fully completed, so please don't ask! It's done when it's done.

THE LORD OF THE UNDERWORLD
Cold metal. There was a slight weight on the top of your skull, like the heft of a helmet.
Fear took root as you took note of your surroundings, dark and unfamiliar, those same qualities as the jail cell but this was unlike any prison.
A powerful muscled figure standing proudly and holding a bolt of lightning; a baby strangling two large snakes; a young scrawny man training beside a satyr and a pegasus.Â
âGetâ these offâŠ!â
That gloomy and dreary antagonistic god had three main underlings, two of which were imps he regularly abused and tormented.Â
Scrambling onto your feet, you approached the thin tiny opening where light filtered in, far too small to squeeze through but just big enough to peer through. It took a few spare seconds for your eyes to adjust to the light of the outside on this cloudy day, but you could make out high rock cliffs as gray as the sky.
When in actuality, the accident involved two children trapped under rubble where nearby the hydra lurked.
Her eyes darted from what she saw as a regular little boy, then over to you. âItâs okay, I promise youâll be alright.â Those eyes like the bright blue sky, softened with a hint of pity, maybe because you just looked that pitiful and on the verge of tears. Because you knew what monster would come lurking from the gorge just moments after you and the small horned being beside you are supposed to be saved.Â
Incredibly, with only a minimal amount of struggling, the hero heaved the boulder slowly above her head. Even though the rock was easily ten times her size, she raised it up high above her shoulders, allowing you and the boy to scamper out of the pit.
However, it seemed as if your torment were far from over.
Well certainly the resemblance was there between the god and the being in the role of the imp. âDid you see the look on the heroâs face, Idia?
Stirring performance gets five stars from me.
Embarrassment caused your heat to creep up your neck and into your cheeks as you lowered your head swiftly in an apologetic nod.
There was no room to question what was said and done.Â
âNot funny, didnât laugh. I had no idea the role of jester was just taken up. Last I knew, we had that position available.
Once we secure our win, then maybe Iâll consider it when Thalia runs out of jokes to tell.âÂ
Thalia? Wasnât that the name of one of the muses? Did he plan to use those divine beings as servants once he conquered Mount Olympus?Â
âUh, you can scram now? I know your soul is probably drawn to the company of other mortals like pretty-boy Meg over there and that schlemiel Heraclea.â Idia scoffed, looking a bit bitter. Although, maybe that was his natural expression along with the constant gloom that seemed to permanently linger around the divine being. He rolled his eyes, murmuring the word so it sounded like an insult, âMortals.âÂ
âT-Then⊠Iâll talk to Meg.â

Max 20âs Sims 4 CC is insane. Like, do you have any idea how talented you have to be to do what he does? Like, the Maxis match style is on-point, but none of his stuff feels like it belongs in the game because itâs too high quality.
Like, thereâs some Maxis match CC where Iâll click on it and be like âwait what pack is this from- Oh! This is CC.â
Not Max 20. I click their shit and the models are so smooth and well done, and the textures are so crisp and HQ, I immediately know itâs a piece of their CC. EA and Maxis would never put this much TLC into their products.

Deadpool's voice and its media portrayals
I read this post by @jhirowolf and @spider-mand, which inspired me to make my own post specifically about dp's voice - please read the og post first!
In the comics it's known that Deadpool has a unique voice - his speech boxes are yellow while everyone elses' are white. What makes it unique is its quality (it's described as rough, raspy and gravelly) but I also think that it's its cadence too (i'll get in to this below). Unfortunately, Ryan's voice in the movies doesn't really come close to this - for multiple reasons.
Ryan's voice physically is very smooth and also pretty high but I get the sense that as dp, he doesnt really do much for his voice, he is pretty much just himself and cracking jokes. As @jhirowolf pointed out, he kind of has this smooth, sarcastic tone. For me the vibe is that of a stereotypical side-character who mumbles sarcastic comments at whatever the other characters are doing. Ryan's voice is often mellow, calm and even
I dont have concrete examples right now, but in the comics SO many characters call Wade insane mere minutes upon meeting him, despite the fact that they dont know anything about him apart from the fact that he is a mercenary.
Why? Because of his voice!
Immediately upon hearing him talk they conclude he is unhinged and unstable and generally unwell. He's loud, aggressive, speaks a mile a minute and on top of that makes dark jokes serious situations that no one else laughs at. It freaks people out and rightfully so! Adding on to this, I think he varies his pitch and rhythm frequently, further making him appear unstable because his voice is never even or monotone for more than a few seconds. I'm basing this on the fact that his speech bubbles are so much bigger than everyone else's (he talks a lot) and also bc he varies his facial expressions and body language a lot when he speaks.
@jhirowolf mentions that Denis Leary was the inspiration for his voice, which i had no idea about but looking at this video, I think his cadence is perfect. You feel that unlimited energy, the loudness, the unpredictableness, his voice and the look behind his eyes make him seem manic and frantic - which it should! It puts people on edge around him, gives him his reputation of being unpredictable and also makes him regard him as insane. Wade doesnt give a shit about norms for socializing, how loud or crass he is - hes got shit to say and hes gonna say it, no matter how much it may annoy, offend or make others uncomfortable
youtube
i think the teaser trailer for the first movie could be Ryans best work when it comes to wades voice
youtube
Conversely, this video could be the worst:
youtube
Like this is purely Ryan, theres no deadpool here. its just his own shameless self-promo in a dp suit
Nolan's voice, on the other hand, isn't perfect either bc it kind of has the similar smooth quality as ryans, its not gravelly, raspy or anything. But his cadence is soo good! He's calm one minute but you never know when he's gonna snap and lose his shit, i love it
youtube
And yeah, Nolan's performance and the funny moments are the only good thing to come out of this game (well i guess another positive is that it made him more popular, it certainly was one of my first encounters which made me interested in him). The bad thing is the amount of damage it did to the complexity of dp's character - they stripped away his layers, the serious and tragic parts that make up who he is, instead of this they literally gave him 1 trait - insane. And that was it. I blame Way's 2008 run for this bc he essentially did the same thing - but the game turned it up to 11. Way at least included several serious and earnest moments where Wade was forced to be introspective and face his issues
in conclusion - so far our ears havent yet been blessed to hear wade's voice
#if anyone has any other video examples pls tell me#these were just off the top of my head#deadpool#wade wilson
