Wait, hold on a second! This isn’t even a Halloween post! C’mon you guys, get out of here!

That’s right, both of you. Scram!

Come on, don’t be like that. You’ll always be welcome on some other Halloween post! We’re just not doing that today!

So what else could October bring, you ask? Why, it’s Inktober! Yes, the yearly tradition of feeling bad because everyone else is better at sticking to a consistent art schedule than you are. Maybe I’ll even participate this year! Still, I always wondered why it had to be this month. The last three months of the year are already the busiest! Make it like, Inkjuly or something!

But you know what’s a lot better at consistently spreading ink than human beings? That’s right! Squids! There’s even a whole game about it! What’s it called again? Squid Wars? Anyway, after a very long tangent, that brings me to today’s subject: Gooper Blooper! 

This guy sure loves ink! He’s even named after it! And he got it all over his face, the goof. Looks like someone out there didn’t really appreciate all his ink, though, because someone stuck a cork up his siphon! Rude! Where’s your Inktober spirit?

Wait, siphon? Have Bloopers always had siphons? Like, the mouth-siphon that all Japanese octopus characters seem to have?

Well, we’ve mentioned this in its own post, but they certainly do in this game! Because Nintendo decided to give them these, I guess. Still, it’s pretty rare to see squids get the siphon-mouth treatment, it’s usually octopuses!

How do you fight Gooper Blooper? Well, the same way you fight any other squid- you brutally tear off all their tentacles and then smack them in the face with their own sucker! What, have you never done that? He’s probably fine. Ignore the fact that each tentacle continues to wriggle around on the floor after you tear it off the body. It’s fine. It’s okay.

Haven’t had your fill of Goops and Bloops? Well, he’s made quite a few appearances in spin-off titles, like every boss in Sunshine, for some reason. Here he is as recent as Mario Tennis Aces! In full HD, no less! This time his siphons exposed, which can only mean one thing! Pelt him in the mouth with tennis balls! Don’t think, just do it!

This isn’t, like, abuse, right?

And finally, Gooper Blooper appears as a boss in Paper Mario: Sticker Star! He’s got a brand new poisonous goop, a fancy crown, and new creepy bright yellow eyes! Are his eyes like that because of the Royal Sticker or something? Nope, he just looks like that. 

Now, if you’ve played this game, I’m sure you know exactly what I’m going to end this post on. I’m sorry! I can’t resist a bop!
