The most irritating thing, is that if you watch season one and then immediately watch season two, everything makes perfect sense. It's a great story. Characters that are vessels for very real emotional storylines and symbolism, but at their core, are silly pirates on a silly pirates show.

However if you watch season one, then spend a year obsessing over the characters, obsessing over characteristics, traits, relationships that are not actually canon but convincing yourself they are. Getting so wrapped up in fanon that your version of the characters and the actual written canon characters are two completely different things. Yeah of course you're gonna be pissed.

Most of the backlash from season two is because people have been reading fanfics for a year and had wildly unrealistic expectations. It's actually fucking fascinating and should be studied. It just keeps happening over and over again in every new fandom and nothing changes

what did you think abt the way laios defeated the winged lion...,, when you said you started reading I rlly wanted to hear your thoughts on that specific scene

if i put on my big boy analysis pants at some point i'll try to come up with some more coherent and satisfying commentary on that entire sequence of events, but in the interest of answering your question quickly before i have to go to work, i absolutely loved that laios defeated the winged lion not through a contest of raw physical or metaphysical strength or intelligence (though it was undeniably an intelligent strategy which showed the sheer depth and wealth of laios' knowledge and understanding of monsters) but by using its own nature against it, setting it up as the architect of its own destruction. laios combined all the strengths of a predatory animal and an experienced hunter to distract the lion with a tantalising feast while he aimed for the one vital mark that would incapacitate it, and his gamble paid off as he was able to consume its entire reason for being, shrunken to a manageable size by the lion's possesion of laios' human body, whilst the lion was too busy trying to fit its jaws around the world to stop him. it kind of reminds me of how heracles bested the nemean lion, using its own claws and teeth to skin its pelt and claim it as his own.

I need to read a fic where it’s just Thanos and Agatha being petty bitches over the fact that they both like Death and they have a whole fight and Agatha destroys him and all the Avengers are like wtf and while this is happening Wade is just sitting in a lawn chair with sunglasses on sipping on lemonade while just making the moste out of pocket and stupid pick up lines to Rio.

And then in the end Thanos is like “but I wiped half the population for you baby” and Rio is like “bitch you didn’t kill them, just zapped them out of existence and now they’re back. Agatha on the other hand sunk the Titanic and started the Hindenburg fire just for me, that’s real romance” then they kiss and skip off into the sunset holding hands. And the Avengers are like WTF. Then Wade sighs gets of from his lawn chair and says “maybe they’ll be down for a thresome” and just slowly follows them into the sunset. (Knowing those lesbian bitches will never let it happen).
