Engagement of QL Fandom in Indian Queer Media
I was tagged by @lurkingshan and invited to respond to an ask she received from @impala124 that noted the absence of India in the Asian queer media spaces and discussions, and questioned the reasons behind it. @starryalpacasstuff has also responded to it in a great post (check out the reblog additions for a treasure trove of Indian queer media recs), discussing, among many things, Korea’s culture export aiding their queer media ventures, access to Indian queer media, and the quality of Indian queer media. @twig-tea’s addition discussed the ease of access of Thai BLs via YouTube and how it prompted Korea and Japan to re-enter the genre.
My thoughts on Indian queer media are complicated and involve several detours to understand Indian media culture, its economic power, and how it navigates international viewership. For context, I am an Indian cinephile who grew up watching a wide variety of Indian media in terms of both language and genre. I naturally transitioned into watching Western content as globalization of the 2010s brought HBO and Comedy Central to Indian screens, and later sought out queer media, Asian media and Asian queer media on the internet.
Indian Media Industry - A Primer
I know there are a lot of countries right now that produce QL media, so I am gonna mainly consider Thailand, Japan, and Korea, the three countries most prolific with ql, for the purpose of this discussion. All of these countries, while regionally diverse, have managed to considerably homogenize in language and culture over the course of history and colonization. India, on the other hand, is still significantly and distinctly diverse in language, culture, religion, food, media styles, social norms, and on and on. India has 22 official languages and thousands of regional ones that are used in various capacities everyday. This diversity is then reflected in the media produced by India, with multiple powerhouse film industries dominating box offices simultaneously. Bollywood is the biggest one and obviously well known internationally, but Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Bengali-language film industries are successful in their own right and consistently produce box office hits and self-sustain in the larger Indian media landscape. This makes domestic media highly regional in India. Even today, in the age of social media, it takes a box office success to the tune of hundreds of millions of rupees for a film to break out of its domestic audience and cross over into other Indian states.
This diversity has also led to the different industries developing media styles unique to them. I watched this video a while ago of a creator documenting his experience of dipping toes into Indian Cinema for the first time, and he ends up covering three movies from three different industries, because the pathos of each of them is so fundamentally different yet effective in their own ways. This diversity also applies to the television industry, both traditional cable TV soaps, and the modern shows made for streaming sites. And all of this, *waves hands*, presents a set of challenges like no other country faces for both Indian queer creators and Indian queer media audiences.
The Challenges for Creators
Since the Indian media industry is not a big monolith and is made up of multiple film industries, queer creators who are trying to get their foot in the door will face a unique uphill battle in whichever regional industry they’re trying to break into. And trying to research, learn, and understand each and every single one of them will take me and my non-existent research team years, so the simpler thing to do would be listing the factors that have worked for other countries to foster their media industries to produce QL content, and discuss if India could replicate them. The list goes like this:
Japan’s rich history in yaoi
Thailand’s use of BL as a soft power to promote tourism
Korea’s culture export via kpop and other media
While India does have religious mythology that discusses sex, gender and queerness, it is often subtext with a lot of intersectionality. Does Ardhanarishvara represent fluid gender, or a symbol of harmony, or both? The debates are endless. Japan’s yaoi roots are as deep as they are explicit. And this rich history could be why the Japanese domestic audience is open to queer media even when the country is still conservative.
Thailand’s rise as a major player in the QL industry is remarkable, but there is a case to be made that the country’s media industry was directly and indirectly boosted by the government’s interest in establishing revenue from tourism, and exporting culture to international audiences via food and media. While the revenue from tourism in India is substantial, the Indian economy is not built on it. And the Indian media industry is thriving and regularly makes bank with their already established content models, so the producers have a pretty low incentive to deviate and fund queer media.
I bet every coin I own that not a single one of us on this hellsite have successfully eluded the allure of Korean media in our lives. The Korean media industry is a well-calibrated machine that shall and will target every single human into funneling their time, attention and money into the Korean culture and economy. And I think queer creators looking to make queer content in Korea would’ve had good incubation in an industry that was looking to make as much content as possible. And once again, while Indian movies have significant international box office collections, that is not where the Indian media industry, and just India in general, makes its money. The priorities are just not the same. And to be perfectly honest, India is nowhere near the level of Korea at producing and exporting television shows to international audiences.
All of this is a long winded way of saying that the conditions required to foster a QL industry in India are not the same as what we have seen work so far from the other major players. And sadly no one has really figured out the winning formula yet.
These are just a few reasons, and I haven’t even discussed nepotism and how painful class mobility is in India, making it even harder for new queer creators to break into the industry. There’s a reason why movies with queer representation like Badhaai Do, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, and Kapoor & Sons all feature characters in the upper middle class or above. Hell, they’re even played by actors whose portfolio is already filled with daring and experimental roles, or by first- or second-gen nepo babies who would literally have nothing to lose from the potential backlash for playing a queer character. Poor, queer characters in Indian media have never been a part of a fluffy romance as far as I know. They are reserved for the gritty dramas where intersectionality of queerness, poverty, class and caste could be examined.
The Challenges for the Audience
And once again, all of this, *aggressively waves hands*, makes things harder for even the domestic audience to engage with Indian queer media, let alone international audiences. Kathaal - The Core, a 2023 Malayalam movie about a queer man in his fifties coming out of the closet and contesting in his village body elections, was a box office success in Kerala, and I can tell y’all with complete certainty that not many people outside of Kerala would’ve even heard of it. And this was not some small indie venture – in fact, the lead characters were played by Mammootty and Jyothika, who are both absolute legends in their own right in the South Indian film industry.
Super Deluxe was a 2019 Tamil-language black comedy film that tells four interwoven stories that run in parallel, and one of the stories is about a trans woman who, pre-transition, was married and had a son. She returns to her family as her post-transition self after years of disappearance, and the film engages in conversation around sex and gender, through the innocent questions of her young son. The movie is gorgeously made, and outrageously sharp and witty in its commentary on society’s views on sex, morality, religion and family. And once again, I don’t think it is well-known outside of the domestic and international award-circuit audiences it was promoted to (last I checked, it was available to domestic audiences on Netflix).
Sometimes, even the domestic audience might miss the queer representation in their regional media when it is indie enough to not get aggressively promoted. The Hindi-language anthology movie from Netflix, Ajeeb Daastaans (2021), featured a story where two women from different caste and social class meet at the workplace (the sapphic story, Geeli Pucchi, starts at 1:17:05, if anyone wants to check it out). It served biting commentary on the intersectionality of queerness, misogyny, caste and class. And once again, I’ve never found a person with whom I could discuss it with (other than my mom, with whom I watched it).
And sometimes, even when a massive show with queer representation is well promoted and well received by critics, it still manages to fly under the radar in Indian queer fandom spaces. Amazon Prime India spent a lot of coin on the show Made in Heaven (2019) – and it was worth it. The show follows the lives of two wedding planners, Tara and Karan. Karan is closeted (except to his close friends) for most of the show, but after he makes some powerful enemies in his line of work, he gets publicly outed, which puts him on the path of dealing with his family’s shades of acceptance, queer rights activism, and reconciling with an old friend. The car scene in episode 9 made me cry, and yet I’ve never read a word about this show from Indian QL fan blogs here on Tumblr.
Following every film and TV show that releases in one language, across all modes and platforms, and keeping an eye out for queer representation is hard enough. Doing it in multiple languages is downright impossible. And then personal preferences come into play. Personally, I enjoy nearly all genres of media, but I am primarily an angst monster, so I seek out and watch sad shit on the regular. All four examples I’ve listed in this section are good queer representations, but they are deeply sad, rage-inducing, heartbreaking and realistic. If one wanted to watch an Indian queer romance that’s inside the bubble, I’m not sure if they can even find one – I have certainly not come across any. Even the queer Bollywood movies designed for a box office run, paying homage to iconic Bollywood romance sequences, were still outside the bubble. When a niche audience like the QL fandom collides with a complex media-churning machine like the Indian media industry that is fundamentally not designed to cater to them, all we get is a lot of puzzled looks and question marks.
A Thought Experiment On The Future Of Indian QLs
Now that I have established the challenges, I want to engage in a little thought experiment – if we were to receive a steady stream of Indian QL content, what would it look like, and how can the fandom engage with it?
If we are looking for content from a stable production entity for Indian queer media, like Thailand’s GMMTV, Japan’s MBS Drama Shower, and Korea’s Strongberry, we would be waiting for a long time, at the very least a decade or two. What we could get are small indie queer shows like Romil and Jugal, squirreled away in a streaming platform exclusive to India and only accessible internationally via VPN. Another example is the list of sapphic shows @twig-tea shared with us a while ago, here. These are gonna be low budget, probably-not-great-quality shows reminiscent of early GMMTV.
Another variety of QL content we could get are the Bollywood queer romance films and TV shows. They will be cheesy and tropey and romantic, and might interact with the bubble, but probably mostly from the safety of an upper middle class setting. This means they would eventually run out of fresh perspectives they could tune into in their limited scope and the stories might turn stale and repetitive (I’m deriving this from the general state of things in the Indian media landscape over the last couple years). International access might be a little easier than the previous case, but not as easy as going to YouTube and hitting play.
The third and final variety are the gritty dramas with heavy social, cultural, religious, gender and class commentary that Indian cinema industry has always made, and has upgraded in the recent years to include queerness. Once again, the access will be hard, but if we are looking for queer stories that also show the audience what it is like being queer in India, beyond the glitz, the glam and the colors of pre-packaged Indian experience often sold to the West, this is where we will find it. Most of it will be sad, but we are a sad bunch who constantly make sad shit, so it will be on brand for us.
And all of these different varieties of content are gonna need to be picked up and promoted by the Indian folks in the QL fandom who are tuned into these regional industries. India not being a cultural monolith that is easy to package and ship is precisely why we have all these beautiful and crazy and sometimes even contradictory styles of media that are offered for us to explore. And therefore, the fandom engagement on Indian QL content would also vastly differ from the fandom engagement for Japan, Thailand and Korea. A dedicated fandom captain might not emerge, but rather, a collective group of folks tuning into and promoting finds from their regional industries would be the way to go. In addition, if this content is not available in English, we would need fan subbers to provide translation expertise to even make it accessible, something we see often for Japanese media on Tumblr.
I know from observation that watching media in a different regional language could sometimes be as foreign to Indian audiences as watching media from other countries. The language, traditions, mannerisms, social mores and food would all be different from region to region, but I guess it would be a good litmus test to observe how well the fandom acclimates to a culture that is so eye-wateringly diverse and not as constantly promoted to them.
When I was texting @waitmyturtles discussing how we can approach answering this question (remember when this all started with a question, some two thousand-ish words ago? Yes, that question), at a point in our conversation I exclaimed "Ugh, everything in India is too complicated!" This long-ass post of mine is in no way the complete account of why things are the way they are in the Indian queer media landscape. But all I know for sure is that it’s not simple. And I really do not want anything related to India to be simple, because being unbearably frustrating and complicated is not a bug, but a feature of India. The road to Indian QLs is unique, but I will do my best to check the paths and share and recommend them to my friends whenever possible. And I invite my fellow Indian QL fans to do the same.

Tangled Fates
Part 2
A Phaya x Tharn fic about their past life as Sapuna and Wansarut.
GIF by @25shadesoffebruary || Original Post by creator is here
a/n - As a desi, this series has captured my heart with the mythology and storytelling! So I wrote this fic as I believe this backstory was one of the best in BL! This happens right after Sapuna is saved by Wansarut and left on the riverside. All of this is my imagination this is not from the book as i haven't read it yet. A lot of this is inspired from indian and thai mythological stories that my grandparents would tell me (shakuntala, nala-damyanti, radha-krishna, etc)Some terms might be difficult to understand so I have underlined them and provided a guide at the end for them.
The Sign series spoilers ahead!
---/---/---
Leaning back on the tree bark under the night sky, Sapuna winced as he tried to calm down. He took shallow breaths while pain coursed through his body. Within a single day, he had been bitten by Prince Chalothorn, thrown from the skies, almost died from Naga venom, and saved by a Nagini.
He was experiencing the after effects of detoxification. His eyesight was weakened, he couldn’t see the infinite like he used to. Is this what human vision is like? How do they manage to live like this?
He closed his eyes in frustration, trying to get some rest so he could gain strength to go back to the battlefield. He was worried that his brothers and sisters were searching for him. But the image of Prince Chalothorn flying towards his army in his serpent form worried him more. He wasn’t even in Garuda Lok. Everywhere he looked he found huge trees and dense forests. The shallow river on whose bank he sat was clear and cold, he craved for the warmth that was native to his kingdom.
This was Naga Lok, or somewhere near it. Nagas were territorial. They would never wander far from their home.
The Nagini earlier was proof of it.
“You will not be safe here.” Her eyebrows scrunched, she gazed at him with a blend of curiosity and caution.
“And why should I believe you?” Garuda retaliated with anger, looking at her legs that were still in the water, her territory, ready to run in case he attacked.
“I extracted all the venom but I can’t help with the after effects. You should return to your kingdom and let the vaidyas heal you.” She pleaded, looking around. “You will be killed if you stay here.”
The Lady turned away from him to face the water, and he flinched in habit when she turned into a serpent and dived into the water.
Did she go away to warn him? Will she be back? Why did she help him?
He could now hear the rumble in his stomach as if it were the roar of a lion. He remembered the lavish banquet he had shared with his clan before the war. In spite of his best efforts, Sapuna couldn't help but think about the delicacies he had been served just a day earlier.
Another sound echoed through the forest at the moment, the simmering sound of bangles. Sapuna sat up abruptly, on alert. He looked around but saw no one.
Was the Nagini back to finish me off?
Something brushed against his hand. Without his divine vision it took him a while to see what was in front of him in the moonlight.
It was a lotus leaf filled with berries, fruits, and edible flowers from the wild. His hunger only grew as he smelled the freshly picked mangoes, and throwing all caution to the wind, he dived in. Halfway through, his eyes caught a movement in the water.
He lifted his head to see a blur of green and gold; the same as the Nagini's clothes.
---/---/---
The sound of Wansarut’s bangles echoed through the plains as she picked the fruit. She chose the mangoes carefully for the injured Garuda. She saw how he ate the mangoes happily yesterday, they seemed to be of his liking. What do Garudas eat anyway? She has heard about them eating serpents since she was young. It sent a shiver down her spine. She will simply leave the food like she did yesterday and won’t talk to him. The quicker his health improves, the sooner he will leave.
She gained her composure, and took off her anklets and bangles and kept them by the riverside. She almost got caught yesterday. She saw a fawn and its mother drinking water by her side. Smiling, she said in their tongue, "Keep them safe for me now, will you?” The fawn nodded, standing guard over her jewels with its tiny form.
She got into the water, smiling back at the fawn. Spending time with wild animals in this forest has always been her joy. This place was the divide between Naga Lok and the human world, a place she accidentally stumbled upon while wandering in the woods. It felt like a hidden haven, known only to her; a sanctuary where she felt safe.
She surfaced by the bank where she had left the Garuda, quietly approaching the tree where he had fallen. There, she delicately placed the lotus leaf, ready to run away the second she placed it on the ground.
"Why are you here?"
Wansarut screamed as the heavy voice echoed behind her, causing the food to fly from her hands and land on the ground. Startled, she turned to find the Garuda staring at her with an unpleasant expression. Although color had returned to his skin, and he no longer appeared pale, his armor was still stained with blood. Other than that, he seemed to be in good health.
“Do you often save your enemies and treat them with mangoes?" Sapuna inquired, a strange sensation in his chest as he observed her green attire and flowing hair.
---/---/---
"Do you make a habit of lurking in the shadows to frighten others?" the Nagini screamed once more, eyeing the scattered food on the ground.
His gaze remained steady as she gathered the fallen fruits, placing them on a lotus leaf and gently allowing the stream to cleanse the mud. Garuda found himself unable to look away, his attention fixed on her delicate wrists and the fluidity of her hands in the water, reminiscent of the mudras of Kohn.
Sapuna snapped back to reality. "Why are you here again?" he asked, approaching her as she handed him the food.
"Because I want you gone," she declared, scrutinizing him from head to toe.
"Is this a farewell lunch, then?" he inquired, taking a seat under the tree where he had fallen. Diving into the mangoes, he saw the Nagini looking at him, puzzled.
"You need to regain your strength to fly. Mangoes help," she explained, turning to leave. "I hope you leave this place by tomorrow."
Sapuna quickly swallowed his food and shouted, "Wait." She halted, looking back at him, one foot in the water and the other on the stones near the bank.
"Thank you. The Garudas will never forget your kindness and hospitality," he expressed.
The Nagini locked eyes with him. "I hope you don't forget to repay me." Sapuna recalled her asking for this war to end, for peace among her kind and his.
“I will do what I can," Sapuna replied.
The Nagini nods, stepping into the water to go away when the Garuda shouts again, “What is your name?”
She pauses yet again, but doesn’t turn.
"Wansarut." After saying so, she shifts into her Nagini form and dives into the water.
“Wansarut.” Sapuna smiles, whispering her name as he looked at the half-eaten food with a smile on his face.
---/---/---
Sleep didn’t come easy for Wansarut that night. The image of the Garuda's face lingered in her thoughts.
There was an unusual aura about him; something she had never witnessed before. His presence seemed to glow, and his features were perfectly sculpted. In his human form, he could easily be mistaken for a heavenly demigod. Truly divine.
She thought about the possibilities if he was a Naga like her. She could have asked him for courtship. They could have had the blessings from the elders and…
Wansarut sat up, shaking her head to dispel the fantasy.
He was a Garuda, her enemy. She could be in grave danger if discovered that she helped a Garuda. She didn’t even know his name and she wanted to do what? Ask him to court her? Love her?
Attempting to push these thoughts aside, she tried to sleep, resisting the image of him standing by the stream where he fell, waiting for her.
But she made a firm decision - she wouldn't go back. It wasn't just for her safety but for his as well.

Adan Salazar, a member of the cabalgata (a parade of horseback riders), travels 20 miles from the neighboring town of Múzquiz to celebrate Juneteenth in 2018 in Nacimiento, the generational home of the Black Seminoles who escaped the threat of slavery in the United States.
Just Across The Border, This Mexican Community Also Celebrates Juneteenth
The “Southern Underground Railroad” helped formerly enslaved people reach freedom in northern Mexico. One village here has observed Juneteenth or “Día de los Negros” for 150 years.
— By Taryn White | Photographs By Luján Agusti | June 17, 2021
In northern Mexico’s Coahuila State there’s a village where locals celebrate Juneteenth by eating traditional Afro-Seminole foods, dancing to norteña music, and practicing capeyuye—hand-clapped hymnals sung by enslaved peoples who traveled the Southern Underground Railroad to freedom.
It may seem unlikely that this holiday would be honored in a small village at the base of the Sierra Madre range, but Nacimiento de los Negros—meaning “Birth of the Blacks”—became a haven for the Mascogos, descendants of Black Seminoles who escaped the brutality of the antebellum South and settled in Mexico.
Now, long after the group came to Nacimiento in 1852, a new challenge remains for the Mascogos: Keeping their culture and traditions alive. In a country of approximately 130 million people, where 1.3 million identify as Afro-descendants, there are only a few hundred Mascogos. Decades of navigating ongoing drought conditions in Mexico, currently affecting 84 percent of the country, have devasted the village’s agriculture-based economy. Younger community members have little choice but to seek new opportunities elsewhere.
A young girl dons on the Traditional Attire—Polka-Dot Dress, Apron, and Handkerchief—worn by Mascogos Women during Juneteenth celebrations in Nacimiento.
But there is hope—both in the strength of Mascogo identity and in the growing recognition of Juneteenth (June 19), a day that marks the freedom of enslaved people in Texas at the end of the United States Civil War and is considered by some to be America’s “Second Independence Day.” On June 17, President Joseph Biden Signed a Bill that recognizes Juneteenth as a federal holiday. Such recognition could also strengthen the visibility of this historic community nearly 2,000 miles from Washington. D.C.

The Southern Underground Railroad
Hundreds of enslaved people fled from southern plantations to live among the Seminoles in Florida Territory during the mid-to-late 18th century. Spain granted freedom to enslaved people who escaped to Florida under their rule, but the U.S. did not recognize this agreement.
In 1821, the Spanish ceded Florida to the U.S., sending the Seminoles and their Black counterparts farther south onto reservations near the Apalachicola River. Andrew Jackson, territorial governor of Florida, ordered an attack on Angola, a village built by Black Seminoles and other free Blacks near Tampa Bay. Dozens of escaped slaves were captured and sold or returned to their previous place of enslavement; many others were killed.
From left to right: Jose, Aton, and Sebastian, members of the horseback parade, arrive in Nacimiento’s nogalera (a Park Surrounded by Walnut Trees) as part of Día de Los Negros.
Nearly a decade later, Jackson, now president, signed the Indian Removal Act of 1830 into law, which required Native tribes in the southeast to relocate to Indian Territory in what is now Oklahoma. Seminole and Black leaders opposed the forced removal, later leading to the Second Seminole War (1835–42). Halfway through the confrontation, the Seminoles called for a truce and agreed to move—if their Black allies were allowed to move safely as well.
The negotiations quickly fell through, and the war resumed, but the relocation of nearly 4,000 Seminoles and 800 Black Seminoles, also known as the Trail of Tears, had already begun.
Southern Underground Railroad
As many as 5,000 enslaved African Americans escaped to freedom in Mexico, after that country outlawed slavery in 1829. While most traveled on their own or in small groups, some were helped by an informal network of free African Americans, Mexicans, Tejanos, and German settlers. Motivations for assisting the refugees were complex—some did so out of sympathy, while others were paid to transport them across the border.

By 1845, most Seminoles had been relocated to Indian Territory, where many Black Seminoles who joined the journey were kidnapped and sold into slavery in Arkansas and Louisiana. Faced with continuous hardships in Indian Territory, members of the Black Seminoles, Seminole Indians, and Kickapoo tribe left Indian Territory in 1849 for Mexico, where slaves could live freely.
Mexico officially abolished slavery in September 1829, and in 1857, Mexico amended its constitution to reflect that all people are born free.
Alice Baumgartner, assistant professor of history at the University of Southern California, says that the Seminoles’ and Black Seminoles’ move to Mexico was part of a much longer history of Mexican authorities recruiting Native peoples who had been forced from their homelands to help defend Mexico’s northern border. In exchange for fighting, they would receive 70,000 acres of land in northern Coahuila as well as livestock, money, and agricultural tools.
“That alternative was far from perfect,” she says, “but it was an alternative nonetheless.”
Juneteenth—In Mexico And The U.S.
Even though the Emancipation Proclamation declared enslaved people in the Confederacy free on January 1, 1863, word had not fully spread to geographically isolated Texas, where slaveholders refused to comply with the federal orders.
It wasn’t until the last battle of the war when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas—a full two-and-a-half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed—that many enslaved people knew they were free.
One year later, freedmen in Texas organized “Jubilee Day” to commemorate the date, initially holding church-centered gatherings that provided oral history lessons on slavery. Today, the holiday, which is officially recognized in more than 47 states and the District of Columbia, typically includes barbecues, street festivals, parades, religious services, dancing, and sipping red drinks—the last to symbolize the bloodshed of African Americans.
Left: Josue, who is of Mascogo descent, honors the traditions of his community for Juneteenth, which now a federal holiday in the U.S. Right: Jennie Hidalgo was crowned the Queen of the Jineteada (the town’s pageant) for Nacimiento’s 2018 Juneteenth celebration.
Left: Gustavo wears the traditional dress for men during Juneteenth. Right: Jennifer celebrates Juneteenth with her community. After the parade of horseback riders arrives into town, Mascogo descendants gather under shade trees to barbecue and boil ears of corn over wood fires.
María Esther Hammack, a historian at the University of Texas at Austin, believes the first Juneteenth celebrations in Nacimiento may have been held as early as the 1870s due to military families traveling back and forth from Nacimiento to Fort Clark in Brackettville, Texas. From 1870 to 1914, Black Seminoles were enlisted by the U.S Army as Seminole Indian “scouts” to defend against other Native American tribes as the U.S. Government expanded into West Texas.
“People in el Nacimiento had already been enjoying freedom for many years, since their arrival in Mexico in 1850,” says Hammack. “[But] Juneteenth celebration in Coahuila, Mexico began as a means to show solidarity with their brethren in the U.S.,” says Hammack. Black Seminoles still living in Brackettville drive 160 miles south to celebrate Juneteenth with the Mascogos in Nacimiento.
While many details of the earliest celebrations have been lost to time, today’s traditions are a vibrant testament to Mascogo culture. On “Día de Los Negros,” women wearing traditional polka-dot dresses, aprons, and handkerchiefs assemble at the nogalera (a park surrounded by walnut trees) at dawn to begin cooking the communal meal. The cabalgata (a parade of horseback riders) begin their 20-mile journey from the neighboring town of Múzquiz, while the elders lead the community in clap-accompanied spirituals such as “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.” Dancing to live music and playing bingo, a popular pastime in the town, are also musts.
By noon, the cabalgata arrives at the nogalera, and the townspeople enjoy traditional Afro-Seminole and Mexican dishes, such as corn on the cob, tetapún (sweet potato bread), pumpkin empanadas, pan de mortero (mortar bread), soske (corn-based atole), and asado (slowly cooked pork in hot peppers).
After a quick rest, the Mascogos reconvene at night for a party in the town’s plaza, where they dance the night away.
Threats To The Mascogo Culture
With more and more Mascogo descendants leaving Nacimiento for other parts of Mexico and the U.S., Dulce Herrera, a sixth-generation Mascogo and great-granddaughter of Lucia Vazquez Valdez—one of the last surviving negros limpios (pure Blacks)—fears the traditions of her culture will be lost.
She hopes to preserve them by teaching the younger generation of Mascogos the traditional songs and gastronomy of the community. Herrera is also working with her mother, Laura, and great-grandmother to raise the awareness of Mascogo heritage in Mexico.
Joseph stands with his horse’s whip. Currently, around 70 families live in Nacimiento and are dedicated to farming and cattle and goat ranching.
“Negros Mascogos is one of the most invisible Afro-descendant communities in Mexico,” she says, citing incidences in which community members were asked for official identification when visiting neighboring towns because “they think we are not Mexican.”
Her efforts have not been in vain. In May 2017, the governor of Coahuila signed a decree recognizing the Mascogos as Indigenous people of Coahuila.
As a result, Herrera and Valdez were able to secure federal funding for huertos familiares (community gardens) to assist community members with planting and selling their crops.
Travelers to Nacimiento can visit the small Museo Comunitario Tribu Negros Mascogos, which contains local artwork and exhibits related to Mascogo history. In 2020, the community also opened a restaurant, El Manà de Cielito, which serves local cuisine, and a hostel, Hospedaje Mascogos. Future plans include boosting cultural tourism by teaching community members to sell embroidered textiles, traditional handicrafts, and organic food as well as developing trails for walking, hiking, and horseback riding.

I am hardcore traveling at the moment, and my watch schedule has gotten all kinds of messed up (I still haven’t watched the latest episode of Be My Favorite, EGADS), but anyway, I have thoughts about another show on my mind at the moment: I didn’t have Wi-Fi on this ultra-long flight I took last night, so I could NOT live-blog the FIVE EPISODES I was able to slam out of Manner of Death for the OGMMTVC. And I was DYING because all y’all and I know that this is SUCH A LIVE-BLOGGABLE SHOW, AAAAHHH!!!, so let me just see if I can remember everything I wanted to write about in my travel haze that I usually live-blog during my very late hours (I’m caught up to episode 10):
- Bun and Tan: PRIORITIZE THE SEX *BEFORE* CHECKING THE LAPTOP Y’ALL STOLE FROM THAT CAR YOU SMASHED, obvi
- I KNEW Inspector M would come around
- Um, REALLY LOVED the elder uncle looks that Inspector M was giving Bun and Tan in the safe house after the fake shooting, lol
- So are That and Sorawit a side couple?! SMART MOVE for a not-BL
- KIND OF OBSESSED with the lovey music during Bun and Tan’s romantic scenes, like — this show hasn’t forgotten its roots, whatever those roots are (BLs? CSI?)
- I kinda think Rungtiva is somehow involved in the whole crime ring. She can take in a whole bunch of trafficked women? AND ask why they need to leave her place afterwards? A little sus. I hope I’m wrong, because I love her outfits
- Speaking of outfits, I like how MoD is quietly repping rural Thailand. I LOVE shows set in the country or outside of Bangkok — ATOTS, MLC, The Promise (not the show, just the setting, ha), ITSAY, the parts of BBS in the eco-village. Even Dew the Movie was revealing by way of setting. I really appreciate seeing clothing more akin to ethnic Thai clothing choices — reminds me of watching Indian movies and shows
- There is a SURPRISING amount of food in this show, for which I am very grateful, and
- Just, MaxTul. Love them. So my read right now (without having finished the show yet) is that I think Max is the better actor. When I was looking up Viangpha Mork, I came across a Reddit post on MoD that commented on Tul having this tic where he kinda takes a half a breath and looks up before saying his lines, which made me lol a bit, and doesn’t really bother me, but it’s like, he *does* need a second before he says anything, and I’m not sure it’s intentional for Bun. But I’m not complaining, I just think it’s funny that I saw that about him. Max, on the other hand — he’s GREAT, and I think they’re both so much improved from Together With Me.
- Oh, one more point. Bun and Tan: CLEARLY INVINCIBLE. Too many injuries to count!
I am TOTALLY into this show. Going from ITSAY to YYY to MoD has been a damn SWING, but a fun one, and it’s just extremely cool to watch a show where a romance aspect is not necessarily the center of the show. More on this analysis in my write-up, but like 3 Will Be Free, queerness here is inclusionary, and not the central point of the plot. I just love the structure, and ABSOLUTELY see how it precedes KinnPorsche. More soon as I finish it out over the next few nights.

If It Is You (2023)
Kimi to Nara Koi wo Shite Mite mo (2023)
Final review: sweet, the anguish only makes it sweeter. Rating: 8/10
Summary: A highschooler (Amane) moves in with his grandmother after having his heartbroken by his first-love/crush who took his confession as badly as he could. His exploration of sexuality took into the arms of an older friend-with-benefit. In the new town he meets a gentle classmate (Ryuji) whose sincerity who have him thinking: if it is with you [I can fall in love].
The story revolves around their life – the high school experience, busy summertime and a love confession that sneaked out of Amane's heart. HE.
Pairing: mujaki, tsukushi seme X sasoi uke
What I liked:
Ryuji drinking tea and chatting with grandma while waiting for Amane to wake up. And leaving after making sure Amane is ok.
Early on in the story, we are made to feel Amane’s broken heart. The friend-with-benefit was definitely not the right person for Amane. This one gesture from Ryuji won him my approval. He proved perfect for Ryuji. If it is with him then I can rest assured.
2. Amane teasing Ryuji.
That was Amane’s way of testing Ryuji’s reaction to his androphilia. I love how that was a reflection of Amane’s failed attempt to connect with his first crush. Ryuji’s confusion and surprise are overshadowed by his tenderness in treating Amane.
It reminded me of the scene from His - Koisuru Tsumori Nante Nakatta (2019) where Nagisa tells Shun a love story to introduce his androphilia.
Not only that scene but also the location of Ryuji’s restaurant kept reminding me of His (2019).
3. Ryuji preventing girls from his class from stealing Amane from him by invoking their promise to watch fireworks together.
4. The cliff-hanger at the end of episode 4. Resolution at episode 5.
I was scared that Ryuji would forget about their date with how busy he looked. I was super happy to see his POV – throughout his summer vacation, while he was very busy, his thoughts revolved around Amane. Just like Amane kept thinking about him. Better yet, flowers, food, and other quotidian stuff reminded Ryuji of Amane. And that convo he had with his mother. Him realizing that it is love!
5. Ryuji taking Amane to the temple grounds so they can talk. Them turning up late to school.
6. Amane going all the way to Ryuji’s restaurant to take a look and returning right after. Amane not telling Ryuji about it later. That was so good!
7. Amane drinking tea in one cup and rushing out. Grandma’s smile.
8. Watermelon
It made me realize that the series was like that, tough on the outside, sweet & soft on the inside. Juicy and perfect for the heat.
9. Amane missing Ryuji while in a karaoke bar, surrounded by friends.
Reminded me of the Yunmeng extra from danmei novel Mo Dao Zu Shi where Wei Wuxian missing Lan Wangji while surrounded by friends.
10. The festival crowd.
11. BL quirk – how seme Ryuji’s name is.
12. Direction was neat. Actors were good.
13. Traditional shudo-type pairing: Amane is ideal Wakashu.
Especially the part where he realizes his friend-with-benefit was not actually kind. Ryuji is shown to be worthy of Amane.
Shigatsu no Tokyo wa... (2023) had a scene where Kazuma stops Ren from having friends-with-benefit situation with older guy. There is no one stopping Amane here. Ryuji is also not an average highschooler, having to take on restaurant duty.
What I didn’t like:
Post-firework extended date.
It was not bad. I didn’t care for it. I feel happy for them. It felt personal and a shorter montage would have been enough. This is probably because of Indian movie influence where date/dance montage are employed to depict romance efficiently. But then they had to add filler to make the episode full.
2. Camerawork in firework scene was a little off. What’s with that angle of looking at nose. The coloring didn’t help it either.

Something hilarious is happening in my home right now. Oky so first of all I am bi and has been a fan of shipping, gay stuff and all that for quite a long time. I even told about bl dramas to my sis and she also have watched it with me. Only she knows about my sexuality but I still think she is bit homophobic. But now to the main part, my sis is going to get married soon and she often talks with her fiance but one day, we were having lunch and she began to say about him and his best friend that how his soon to be husband went to his best friend house in diwali and instead of his own clothes, his friend wore his kurta out of stubbornness and then my mom suddenly commented "hmmm, kahin usko usse pyarr to nhi".and believe me I literally chocked on my food when she said this. Since that day start a new ritual at home, we all ship my brother in law with his friend by no other than my own mom. She keeps asking so "where is his other half? Aaj usske liye kya kya banaya? Wo to uska hi ghar h dono sath me pada rhta hai;birthday me sabse pehle uska laya cake katega tumhara thodi na;aur uske liye fasting bhi kiya hai kya, dono kissi vissi bhi karta hoga" My sister also tells us about him how he was making chicken for his friend even though he was ill. And my mom literally says"dekho to dono me kitna pyarr hai"And i was howling like a wolf from inside. My sister also laughs a lot on such japs. She knows my yaoi obsession and one day she herself was saying me, who would be the bottom from either of them'. God they both pushed me to this edge where I m really shipping them 😭after all these talks my sister asked "aajkal kya kya dekh rhi ho mummy".actually, my mother has always seem interested toward LGBT community. Like yeh she have talked about it as a joke or in jokes in past yet she never made any degenerate remarks about gays. It's always something sweet but still I can't believe my ears that an Indian middle aged woman is so chilling talking about his soon to be son in law in this way.i m certain now that my mom is a bl fan too. I know she would love it dearly.
Queer/ queer friendly mom and child and damaad and slightly homophobic sister sound like a veeery good plotline for fun family sitcom lmao.

9 people you'd like to know better
Thanks for tagging me, @summersinpuglia! Sorry it took me so long to respond :')
Last song: The Moon Represents My Heart from Moonlight Chicken. I just adore it so much?? Also helpful for writing fics, it just gets me into the ~feels~ every time. (There's also Boy Sompob's You Are My Destiny but that's technically not my last song sooo).
Currently watching: Around 8 airing shows a few completed ones. Too many jajaja. Out of them, I'm really, really loving Be My Favorite. Eight weeks, and not a single slow or disappointing ep. Strong candidate for my top 5 qls list. I'm also very intrigued by the ep 1 of Laws of Attraction. Deranged lawyer who has lost all faith in humanity and lives only for himself x righteous justice bringing common man, sprinkled a liberal garnish of political corruption and intrigue? Yum! There's Hidden Agenda on the side forming a pretty web—not sold on it so far, but it's my first JoongDunk show and they're living well up to their name. The chemistry is fantastic u.u Be Mine Superstar and Stay By My Side (Taiwanese) are serving as great appetisers which I'm enjoying without thinking too much ^^ (Too sleepy to write about the others >.>)
Currently reading: The Year of the Runaways by Sanjeev Sahota, and The Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Devkurani. Two at the same time ahaha~ And they are of completely different genres. The Year of the Runaways tells the story of immigrants who comes from very different social positions, tackles caste system, stigma, and a bit of religion. Very grounded in reality, and a little depressing(?). The Palace of Illusions is set in the mythic past, a semi historical semi fantasy fiction retelling one of the most widely read Indian epics from a woman's perspective. Whenever I feel too down after reading the former, I come to The Palace of Illusions for a little tour into magic and political intrigue ^^
Current obsession: Do bls count? But other than that, I've been writing a lot of fics and re-reading my favourite danmei. I'm also watching a lot of videos from the Cooking History youtube channel, food and history—two of my beloveds.
Again, thanks for the tag! I hope you have a great day/night! <3
Tagging: @wenyousi and @valentinaonthemoon, but if you're reading this, please feel free to join in!

THE POWER OF NUTRIHERBS DETOX WITH AMLA, TURMERIC, GILOY, AND MANJISTHA EXTRACT FOR NATURAL BODY CLEANSING

A body cleansing routine is essential to maintaining optimal health and ensuring that the body functions at its best. Let’s dive into the incredible benefits of this supplement and why it’s a must-have for anyone looking to enhance their health and well-being.
Why Detoxification is Important
Detoxifying your body periodically can boost energy levels, enhance digestion, and improve skin health, among many other benefits. Over time, harmful toxins accumulate in the body, affecting overall wellness. When we cleanse, we give our organs a chance to function more efficiently, resulting in clearer skin, better digestion, improved immune system, and even mental clarity.
Nutriherbs Detox is a natural solution for those looking for an easy yet effective way to cleanse their body without harsh chemicals or additives. Made with the power of Ayurveda, this supplement harnesses the detoxifying benefits of some of the most revered herbs in ancient Indian medicine.
Key Ingredients in Nutriherbs Detox
1. Amla (Indian Gooseberry)
Amla is known as a powerhouse of Vitamin C and antioxidants. This superfood has been used for centuries in Ayurveda for its numerous health benefits, including:
Boosting Immunity: Amla strengthens the immune system and helps fight off infections.
Improving Digestion: It supports digestion by stimulating the secretion of gastric juices, helping in nutrient absorption and detoxifying the digestive system.
Skin Health: The antioxidants in Amla aid in reducing signs of aging, promoting glowing and youthful skin.
2. Turmeric
Turmeric is one of the most potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant-rich spices. Its active compound, curcumin, offers numerous health benefits:
Anti-inflammatory Properties: Turmeric helps reduce inflammation in the body, which can be the root cause of many chronic diseases.
Liver Detoxification: Curcumin promotes liver function, aiding the liver in flushing out toxins from the bloodstream.
Enhancing Skin Health: Turmeric helps in improving complexion and reducing skin blemishes and breakouts, making it a great detox ingredient.
3. Giloy (Guduchi)
Giloy, often referred to as the ‘root of immortality’ in Ayurveda, is a potent herb that supports overall health and wellness. It helps in:
Immune System Support: Giloy strengthens the immune response, helping the body resist infections and diseases.
Detoxification: Giloy assists the body in flushing out toxins, purifying the blood, and rejuvenating the cells.
Improving Digestion and Metabolism: It also supports digestive health and balances metabolism, promoting overall vitality.
4. Manjistha
Manjistha is known for its blood-purifying properties. It is often used in Ayurvedic treatments for detoxification and skin ailments. Some of its benefits include:
Blood Purification: Manjistha helps eliminate toxins from the blood, promoting healthy circulation and clear skin.
Skin Health: Regular intake of Manjistha can help in reducing acne, skin discoloration, and other skin issues caused by toxins.
Lymphatic Detox: It supports the lymphatic system, which plays a key role in removing waste and toxins from the body.
How Nutriherbs Detox Works
Nutriherbs Detox is a synergistic blend of these powerful ingredients, formulated to help cleanse your body naturally. By targeting the liver, digestive system, and blood, this supplement helps flush out harmful toxins and rejuvenate your body from within.
When taken regularly, Nutriherbs Detox:
Cleanses the liver: Supports the liver's natural detoxification processes, helping it filter out toxins more efficiently.
Purifies the blood: Promotes healthy circulation and eliminates impurities from the blood, improving skin complexion and vitality.
Boosts immunity and digestion: With a stronger immune system and better digestive health, your body can fight off infections and absorb nutrients more effectively.
Promotes glowing skin: As toxins are flushed out, your skin will become clearer, more radiant, and youthful.
Why Choose Nutriherbs Detox?
Unlike many detox supplements on the market, Nutriherbs Detox is made using pure, natural ingredients backed by Ayurveda. It contains no harsh chemicals, artificial additives, or fillers. Why Mukhwas is a Must-Have for Restaurants and Catering Services
Introduction
In the competitive world of hospitality, where customer experience is paramount, every detail matters. From the ambiance of your restaurant to the quality of your food, your patrons expect the best. One often overlooked yet essential aspect that can elevate the dining experience is mukhwas. This traditional Indian mouth freshener is not just a delightful end to a meal but also a subtle touch that can set your restaurant or catering service apart. In this blog, we will explore why mukhwas is a must-have for restaurants and catering services, focusing on the benefits it brings and how it can enhance your business. We'll delve into its cultural significance, health benefits, and practical reasons for incorporating it into your offerings.
1. The Cultural Significance of Mukhwas in Dining
A Tradition Rooted in Indian Culture
Mukhwas has been an integral part of Indian dining traditions for centuries. It is commonly offered after meals as a palate cleanser and digestive aid. The blend of seeds, nuts, and spices not only freshens the breath but also aids in digestion, making it a thoughtful gesture that your guests will appreciate.
Enhancing the Authentic Dining Experience
For restaurants that specialize in Indian cuisine or those that want to incorporate a touch of Indian tradition, offering mukhwas is a way to enhance the authenticity of the dining experience. It’s a small but impactful addition that resonates with cultural heritage, providing your customers with a complete and satisfying meal.
2. Health Benefits of Mukhwas: More Than Just a Mouth Freshener
Aid in Digestion
One of the primary reasons mukhwas is offered after meals is its ability to aid digestion. Ingredients like fennel seeds, ajwain (carom seeds), and sesame seeds are known for their digestive properties. For instance, fennel seeds help reduce bloating and stimulate the secretion of digestive enzymes, making them an ideal after-meal treat. By offering mukhwas at your restaurant, you're not just providing a mouth freshener; you're promoting better digestion for your patrons.
Natural and Healthy Ingredients
In a time when health-conscious dining is on the rise, mukhwas stands out as a natural and healthy option. Unlike many commercially available mints and gums that contain artificial ingredients, mukhwas is made from natural seeds and spices. This makes it a perfect choice for health-conscious customers who prefer natural products over synthetic alternatives.
Refreshing and Revitalizing
The refreshing properties of mukhwas are another reason why it should be a staple in your restaurant or catering service. Ingredients like mint, coriander seeds, and cardamom offer a burst of freshness that cleanses the palate and leaves a pleasant taste in the mouth. This is particularly beneficial after a heavy or spicy meal, as it helps to neutralize strong flavors and prepare the palate for dessert or the next course.
3. Practical Benefits of Offering Mukhwas in Restaurants
Enhancing Customer Satisfaction
In the restaurant business, the little details often make the biggest difference. Offering mukhwas at the end of a meal can leave a lasting impression on your customers, enhancing their overall dining experience. A satisfied customer is more likely to return, leave positive reviews, and recommend your restaurant to others.
Cost-Effective Addition
Mukhwas is a cost-effective addition to your restaurant or catering service. It doesn’t require expensive ingredients or complex preparation, yet it adds significant value to the customer experience. Bulk mukhwas supply is readily available, making it easy to incorporate into your offerings without straining your budget.
Customizable to Suit Your Brand
Another practical benefit of mukhwas is its versatility. You can create custom blends that align with your restaurant’s theme or the specific tastes of your clientele. Whether you want to offer a traditional blend or something more contemporary, mukhwas can be tailored to reflect your brand’s identity.
4. How Mukhwas Can Boost Your Catering Service
A Unique Selling Point
In the catering business, standing out from the competition is crucial. Offering mukhwas as part of your catering service can be a unique selling point that sets you apart. Whether you’re catering for weddings, corporate events, or private parties, mukhwas adds a touch of elegance and thoughtfulness to your service, making it memorable for your clients.
Enhancing the Dining Experience at Events
At events, the dining experience is a major highlight. Providing mukhwas at the end of a meal ensures that guests leave with a positive impression. It’s a small gesture that shows attention to detail, enhancing the overall experience and increasing the likelihood of repeat business and referrals.
Ideal for Health-Conscious Clients
With the growing demand for health-conscious catering options, mukhwas offers a natural and healthy alternative to traditional mints or desserts. It appeals to clients who prioritize health and wellness, making your catering service more attractive to a broader audience.
5. Sourcing and Buying Bulk Mukhwas for Your Business
Finding Reliable Suppliers
To successfully incorporate mukhwas into your restaurant or catering service, sourcing from reliable suppliers is key. Look for suppliers who offer high-quality, fresh ingredients and can provide consistent supply in bulk. It’s also worth considering suppliers who can create custom blends to suit your specific needs.
Bulk Mukhwas Supply: Cost and Storage
When buying mukhwas in bulk, consider the cost and storage requirements. Mukhwas is generally inexpensive, especially when purchased in bulk, making it a cost-effective addition to your offerings. Ensure that you have proper storage facilities to maintain its freshness, as mukhwas should be stored in a cool, dry place to preserve its quality.
Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Packaging Options
In today’s environmentally conscious market, offering mukhwas in sustainable and eco-friendly packaging can further enhance your brand’s image. Consider using biodegradable packaging materials that align with your restaurant’s commitment to sustainability. This not only appeals to eco-conscious customers but also sets a positive example in the industry.
6. Marketing Mukhwas in Your Restaurant or Catering Service
Creating Awareness
Once you’ve decided to offer mukhwas at your restaurant or catering service, it’s important to create awareness among your customers. Highlight the availability of mukhwas on your menu or mention it as part of your service in marketing materials. Educating customers about the benefits of mukhwas can also help in promoting it as a value-added offering.
Promotions and Upselling Opportunities
Use mukhwas as an upselling opportunity. For instance, you can offer a premium blend of mukhwas as an add-on to your regular service or include it as part of a special menu. Promotions like "Complimentary mukhwas with every meal" can also attract customers and encourage repeat visits.
Leveraging Social Media and Online Reviews
Leverage social media platforms to showcase the unique aspects of your restaurant or catering service, including mukhwas. Encourage customers to share their dining experiences online, and highlight positive reviews that mention mukhwas. This not only boosts your online presence but also attracts new customers who are interested in trying something different.
7. Conclusion: Why Mukhwas is a Must-Have for Restaurants and Catering Services
In conclusion, mukhwas is more than just a mouth freshener; it’s a thoughtful addition that enhances the overall dining experience. From its cultural significance and health benefits to its practical advantages and marketing potential, mukhwas is a must-have for any restaurant or catering service. By incorporating mukhwas into your offerings, you can create a memorable experience for your customers, increase satisfaction, and ultimately boost your business. Whether you’re running a small restaurant, a high-end dining establishment, or a catering service, mukhwas can play a crucial role in setting you apart from the competition.

Stay With Me Live Blogging
Watched the second half of Addicted last month, saw some tiktoks of Stay With Me that looked good, saw people losing their minds over it on r/boyslove, so I'm watching this.
It's like a 12 hour long show, so probably a bad idea to start it now instead of after internship and semester is over but I'm gonna be watching Boys Planet then, so the time is now.
Ep 1 (Aug 11)
The transitions when Wu Bi came are so funny, Indian serial tease
omg is Wu Bi's mom making the doll for the stepmother's son Su Yu? They used to be friends? girl... anyway Su yu mole on ear?
so the mother didn't give the doll to Su Yu?
loll so instead of Su Yu agreeing to move to Wu Bi's school, Wu Bi's pre-emptively moving on a different school where he'll end up near Su Yu
Mao Chong and Han Bokuang - I remember there was maybe a second couple or smth in the background of Addicted that also had enemies to lovers, is this them?
pls the Wu Bi theme song every time
not this random singing?!?! girl what T.T and Wu Bi staring at him so intensely from the back loll
pls I can't. mentioning the sculpture and then facial nerve paralysis ?!?!?!
Ep 2 (Aug 11)
bro Wu bi changing some of Su Yu's answers? die.
plss how'd Su Yu get perfect score, he answered things wrongly and Wu Bi accidentally chose the correct ones? - oh i see the teacher caught it
Bro, Su Yu should just beat the shit out of Wu Bi at least once before they get lovey dovey cuz how dare he step on his new shoes after he heard they're new
plss the transitions as Su Yu's being a little chemist genius
Su Yu's dad working a second job to earn money and obviously, it's somehow for Wu Bi
ofc Wu Bi's soft when it comes to a father who's working hard for his son - but so rude to the son smh
Duoduo so cute and smart and endearing >.<
Ep 3 (Aug 11)
It's 1:30AM so I should be going to sleep but oh well. also my head/eyes ache
Bokuang mentioned jelly like 4:30mins in and the Viki comment had lyrics to Boys Planet Jelly Pop
lol Wu Bi being like no.. the coincidences can't be... he can't be tahe mover's son... but he doesn't even now about the incredible coincidences of them being stepbrothers !!
Wu Bi doesn't pity Su Yu too much, treating him like some charity case
the editing is so funny what is this figtttt pls T.T
only I can bully you Su Yu, nobody else >:((
Wu Bi wants happy family
Ep 4 (Aug 12)
bro Duoduo is actually a menace, she's so cute and funny
ah, some heart-to-heart between Wu Bi and Su Yu as he learns about Wu Bi's mother and her death and her sculpting
Ep 5 (Aug 12)
Su Yu buying Wu Bi breakfast hehe
not this BL jealousy moment of Wu Bi seeing people touch or confess to Su Yu
Damn, I thought Su Yu was gonna accept Wu Bi's request on QQ or something but instead he's view Wanying's and she even messaged him, ah - I remember some drama with a girl in the tiktoks and in the original Addicted one of their previous girlfriend also came into the picture
so many things going on at this dinner: Wanying calling Su Yu and him hanging up - Wu Bi watching all that, Duoduo sneakily drinking a shot, Wu Bi giving food to Su Yu
lol Wu Bi's poor man cosplay gets one step more real
ah, the face each other bike riding - I've seen this on tiktoks too, it's so romantic looking
Ep 6 (Aug 12)
Su Yu is so cute in glasses
plsss Wu Bi shit-talking about Su Yu's stepdad's son - whole time it's him. surprise you're step-brothers <3
plsss he fr cursed himself?! Wu Bi my guy D:
okay, so, is this show dubbed? Sometimes it doesn't seem like it but sometimes... the mouth movements vs sounds ?
plssss Su Yu probing into Wu Bi's family secrets and both Wu Bi and Su Yu's father fumbling through it
plsss this fake dad T.T
"even if you doubted Wu Bi, you couldn't have doubted your own dad, right?" ...girl this is gonna blow up fr
Ep 7 (Aug 12)
omg so this is how they find about the dad and mom marriage? In Addicted, it was the mother coming to Su Yu's house that made them find out
Are we gonna get singing again? oh, just the editing at the club lol
damn, throwing punches D:
Ep 8 (Aug 12)
nvm we're really back to singing
wait true, Wu Bi can take on thugs but let Su Yu hit him
bruh who is taking a photo of Su Yu and his mom and her handing him money? i thought Wu Bi's friends were gonna give Su Yu a talking to for making Wu Bi cry but would they do this instead?
oh i see, the scholarship thing
They never translate the on-screen text agh
oh nvm they're translating some others
Bro Wu Bi why would you fake admit that you spread the photos
Duoduo sooo cute
brooo it really was Wubi's friends?
I kinda liked it last time when the dad was like "okay? and did Wubi keep the parental marriage situation from you? no? then why are you mad at him?" But he might be more involved with Wu Bi this time than in original Addicted, so there's more hurt associated with learning this?
Ep 9 (Aug 12)
yesss supportive dad who loves Wu Bi!
This is fun, at first it was Wu Bi trying to get Su Yu's attention and now vice versa
"Faster my foot, slow down. Do you want to tire him out?"
ah, I was wondering what the timeline was, i's in New Year's 2006
The way Wu Bi climbed over Su Yu's sleeping body... ah.
bro why are we getting women being assaulted in this randomly
why would you give me voiceover of Wu Bi going "I am your ge. you are my di." stop this
Ep 10 (Aug 12)
ah, Su Yu's silly worries of becoming an outsider in his family and them not looking out for him anymore - squashed by them worrying + calling Wu Bi's phone since Su Yu left with him last night. good. silly kid, your dad got married, didn't abandon you
pls is Wu Bi's birthday actually a few days later than Su Yu's lol Wu Bi wants to be ge so bad
Actually I did remember the rich kid in Addicted being younger by a day or two but I thought they just switched it here lol
The way this ge/di battle would be doing Everything for me if they weren't step-brothers... now it's still doing it for me but tentatively
Ep 11 (Aug 12)
lol the cousin-brother's girlfriend is Wanying? rip she's the girl who was haunting the relationship in Addicted, right? Also, the cousin mentioned that they have a mutually beneficial relationship, so is he really gay?
I don't get what Wu Bi's doing on his phone
oh i see, he realized that Wanying is his cousin's gf
Wu Bi's tantrum is so annoying - why doesn't he just tell Su Yu that she has a bf? Then he doesn't have to say anything about liking Su Yu (idk if he even knows that he likes him romantically) but can just be like she's a liar and a cheat bruh
Did the cousin understand that they've got a thing going on? Cuz in Addicted, the cousin understood I think.
Also, Wu Bi stopped the cousin from talking about the gf Wanying, why?
bro why do Wu Bi's friends and now his bodyguard keep screwing over Su Yu...
Ep 12 (Aug 12)
rich spoiled pathetic wittle babies are so :/ do it right, Wu Bi
"Su Yu is mine" is crazy. to say to Wanying especially
bro what right does Wu Bi have to be mad? I think if they weren't step-siblings, it'd be different but... I'm like do you even know you're in love with each other?
bro Wanying is terrible D: liar liar
Wu Bi telling Su Yu about Wanying dating his cousin would have seriously been able to avoid this
bro she's such a mastermind, she's meeting Wu Bi and is gonna make it seem like he's harassing her or something right?
"Not winning an Oscar for best actress would be a waste of your acting skills" plsss
finally Wu Bi mentions Wanying dating his cousin but now too much has happened
Duoduo is genuinely so funny
Ep 13 (Aug 12)
bro show me what the wishes are! what did Wu Bi write!
also now we've seen Duoduo and Su Yu both exchange their wishes wish new ones - will Wu Bi do the same?
damn, are we gonna get the last of this Wanying conflict? pls let it end
damn, we're finding out about the sculpture connection right now?
man, I do have to love just how interconnected the families are in this. Even though Wu Bi's dad and Su Yu's mom aren't present, Su Yu's little family is so good
okayy Su Yu going to meet Wu Bi
"From today until the day you get married, I'll be with you every holiday" saw it on tiktok, it hits harder with the full context
Wu Bi dying to kill Mao Chong fr
Mao Chong and Bokuang fake dating pls
omggg he literally has Bokuang in drag!
Ep 14 (Aug 13)
damn, so much drama between Su Yu's mother and Wu Bi's dad
damn, more conflict between the families
I wonder what the end result of this show will be? Will they have some mending between the kids and their parents?
Ep 15 (Aug 13)
is she reading yaoi in class? T.T pls now fantasizing about Su Yu and Wu Bi. This is one way to edge across the censors
plsss Wu Bi taking the yaoi novel for Su Yu T.T
nooo did Duoduo take the yaoi? hope it's child friendly....
Ep 16 (Aug 13)
Would her taking so many photos of the two of them have any consequences?
why do they keep singing?!?!
girl, not this dancing, I'm clutching my head
Ep 17 (Aug 13)
"They don't spend enough time looking at... your face."
So they're trying to solve the death of Wu Bi's mom, okay
I hope Wu Bi doesn't somehow misunderstand Su Yu's secrecy around the mystery though
Ep 18 (Aug 13)
plsss this dance T.T
This MR. Mo character is so annoying
are we just fully believing this man?
Ep 19 (Aug 13)
okay they've made up
birthday dinner at Wu Bi's house with the parents, woah and Su Yu's there too
ah car birthday presents... the accident's gonna happen in a few episodes i guess
plss what is up with Bokuang's dad fr, are we supposed to extrapolate that he's gay?
not the flashback to happy child birthday boy Wu Bi
Ep 20 (Aug 13)
pls arguing about whose father gave a shittier gift
and then getting school by Duoduo
plssss Su Yu's dad "I already have an ex-wife who went with him" when Wu Bi's dad liked Duoduo's mom's noodles
damn, evidence in the Su Yu statue - is there more?
Ep 21 (Aug 13)
Wu Bi is so cute with his hair down like this, so innocent looking despite being a Grade A Rascal
I hope the relationship with parents don't get ruined, they're cute now, esp Wu Bi and his father
wait, this is what people were talking about, right? we're calling it lip balm to cover up but really it's actually lube?
he put the lube lip balm on his father?! and then barely containing his laughter
Duoduo's little crush on Mao Chong is so cute
anyway, I'm dreading Mao Chong and Su Yu sleeping in the same bed and Wu Bi coming home to surprise them and seeing that
omg not them gossiping about how Su Yu finds Wu Bi handsome and treats him differently lol
plsss not the girls just discussing gay ships of Mao Chong right behind him?
plsss not Wu Bi seeing Mao Chong's headphones on the bedstand and tackling Su Yu
pls Su Yu's status "I'm hungry." -> Wu Bi literally running out to make food for him -> cousin man being like "He's gone mad. If this continues, he'll squander all the family wealth."
Ep 22 (Aug 14)
"Give our relationship, I can think of something better than money." okay
Ep 23 (Aug 14)
Immediately picking up on Wu Bi calling Su Yi ge finally
not lubricant jokes pls
god the endless innuendos, "if you get 30 points more, I'll reward you with something hehehe"
"If he wants your dad's group, will you give it to him?" "I will." is a wild thing to say and then "Impossible" about being separated like bruhh don't provoke our cousin, don't you know your mother was murdered? Shouldn't you be a bit more careful about how people view Su Yu and whether he needs to be eliminated
bruh what is the love confession letter that the fujoshi gave them so cringe i die
girl not Wu Bi continuously getting hurt over nothing between Su Yu and Mao Chong
man, cousin guy don't be so preoccupied with the Su Yu/Wanying thing fr
Ep 24 (Aug 14)
I know it's not a happy ending, I don't wanna watch this fr
the cousin giving Su Yu the haircut reminds me of The Devil Judge except she was way cooler and deadlier
damn, causing separating the two of them early in the morning tomorrow
cousin literally boutta send a kill on Wu Bi as well while only trying to do Su Yu
plssss the way Wu Bi's talking to Su Yu once they realize there's a brake failure is soo brain melting "It's okay, I'm here. Just close your eyes and rest for a while"
I've seen people talk about how Wu Bi had angled the car so that he was hit with the impact ahhhh
so much of this last 15 minutes is just flashbacks bro wtf
bruh that's it? the end? well, someone on discord did say it's non-fatal car crash so yknow
Overall Thoughts:
Well, this is really as close as BL you can get without saying out loud that they are dating but there are innuendos galore and it's pretty clear (there was lube on their bed, like...). So it didn't really feel unfulfilling as if something was missing because like... they were together pretty much lol.
The family aspect was the best, I love that we got to see Su Yu's situation so much and his blended family and the way they were always there together. You can understand why Wu Bi prefers the warmth of their home over the coldness of his, though we got to see progress on that end too. Duoduo sooo cute, little munchkin.
The ending is... an ending, that's for sure. Hope we get a season 2 next year but who knows.
Rating: 6.5/10

Top 10 Must-Have Indian Spices for Your Kitchen
The exotic flavour and fragrant spices used in Indian cooking have earned it worldwide acclaim. Indian cuisine relies heavily on spices because of the way they elevate and enrich the flavour of the food. No matter how experienced a cook you are, authentic Indian flavour can only be achieved with a well-stocked spice cabinet. Discover the top 10 essential Indian spices that will take your cooking to the next level and make your taste buds do a happy dance in this blog post. If you are looking for one of the most distinct Spices Manufacturers in India, Spyran can fulfil your authentic spice needs.
Turmeric:
"Haldi" in Hindi, turmeric is a bright yellow spice with many positive health effects. Curcumin, a chemical found in turmeric, is anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Turmeric is extensively used in Indian cooking not just for its earthy flavour but also for its warm golden colour. In meals like curry, rice, lentil soup, and pickles, it is an essential ingredient. Cooking with turmeric not only improves the flavour but also adds nutritional value to anything you're preparing.
Chilli Powder:
"Mirch" (Hindi for "chilli powder") is a hot spice commonly used in Indian cooking. It is prepared from dried chilli peppers and, depending on the type of peppers used, can be either mild or rather fiery. In many dishes, including curries, marinades, and spice mixes, chilli powder plays a crucial role. It adds a robust and spicy flavour while also colouring the food a brilliant red. Be sparing with it so you can control the heat to your liking.
Cumin:
Popular in Indian cooking, cumin (known as "jeera" in Hindi) adds a toasty, nutty flavour to food. Its entire and ground forms are equally popular. Before being added to a meal, cumin seeds are often roasted in the oven or tempered in hot oil to release their fragrant oils. Numerous rice and lentil cuisines, as well as spice combinations like garam masala, rely heavily on cumin. Its unique flavour profile enhances the richness of many Indian dishes.
Coriander:
Often referred to as "dhania" in Hindi, coriander is a popular spice in Indian cuisine. The fresh leaves (cilantro) and the seeds are both used for their flavour. Fresh coriander leaves give a reviving, herbaceous flavour, while coriander seeds have a warm, lemony, and somewhat nutty flavour. Spice blends, curries, and chutneys often feature ground coriander as an ingredient. The leaves add a fresh, vibrant flavour to dishes like salads, chutneys, and marinades.
Cardamom:
Cardamom, known as "elaichi" in Hindi, is an aromatic spice that has a mildly sweet and flowery flavour. The most common colours are green and black. Green cardamom pods are a common ingredient in chai tea, sweet Indian curries, and other delicacies. The black variety is used in spice mixes, savoury curries, and rice dishes due to its robust smoky flavour. Cardamom's invigorating aroma and flavour are a welcome addition to whatever dish you're preparing. Are you looking for an excellent Indian spice manufacturer who can fulfil your flavourful and aromatic spice needs? Look no further than Spyran.
Mustard Seeds:
Tiny black or yellow seeds with a powerful flavour, mustard seeds are called "rai" or "Sarson" in Hindi. When toasted in oil, they give out a strong, nutty scent. Indian pickles, spice mixes, and vegetable meals all benefit greatly from the use of mustard seeds. They can be used either whole or powdered. Mustard seeds add a delicious blast of flavour to any food with their distinct tang and spice.
Fenugreek:
The bittersweet flavour of fenugreek, or "methi" in Hindi, is what sets it apart from other herbs. Indian cuisine makes use of both the leaves and the seeds of this plant. Methi paratha (a type of flatbread) and methi paneer (a type of cottage cheese curry) both benefit from the unique flavour of fenugreek leaves. Because of their potency, the seeds are typically roasted and ground before being used in spice blends or curries. Fenugreek is a great spice to use while making lentils, vegetables, and curries.
Garam Masala:
The aromatic spice blend known as garam masala is a staple in Indian cooking. Spices including cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, cumin, and black pepper are often included in the mix. Curry, rice, and stew all benefit from the addition of garam masala because of the spice's savoury, rich flavour. It can be added to a dish either during the cooking process or as a final garnish to bring out more of the natural taste. Garam masala's aromatic blend of spices is sure to improve any dish you prepare.
Asafoetida:
Asafoetida, or "hing" in Hindi, is a pungent and flavourful spice that is typically reserved for occasional use in Indian cuisine. It smells strongly like garlic and onions. During the tempering process, asafoetida is frequently added to the hot oil or ghee to unleash its aromas. Lentil meals, vegetable curries, and pickles all benefit from its inclusion. Asafoetida has a pungent odour, yet even a small amount of it adds a distinctive umami flavour that makes the dish better overall.
Cinnamon:
Indian food benefits greatly from the use of cinnamon, which is called "dalchini" in Hindi. It can be purchased in both stick and ground form and is made from the inner bark of cinnamon trees. Kheer (rice pudding), gulab jamun (milk dumplings) and gajar ka halwa (carrot halwa) all have cinnamon as an essential ingredient. It is also frequently used in biryanis and savoury curries, as well as spice blends. Cinnamon's warm, inviting aroma and subtle spiciness make it an indispensable ingredient in cooking.
