19th December, 2019 - 150,000 people in Mumbai protest the new Citizenship Amendment Act, and the subsequent police brutality at Muslim Universities, where students were dragged out of dorms and libraries and beaten, maimed, and blinded.

There have been protests all over India this past week, in all major and minor cities. This new law is partisan, fascist and discriminates against the Muslim community, who form around >14% of the Indian population (~11% of the worlds Muslims live in India), and violates the secular ideals of the Indian constitution.

Nationwide there have been thousands of arrests in response to peaceful demonstrating - there has been state sponsored terror, violence, bus-burning, Section 144 (prohibits assembly of more than 4 people in an area, aka no right to protest) has been imposed in entire states, the Internet, SMS and data services have been suspended.

India has passed a new Citizenship Amendment Bill that aims to provide citizenship to non-muslim refugees from the neighbouring countries of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Prior to that, India was already facing the brunt of the National Register of Citizens of India which had been implemented in Assam.

I request all of you to please find out what is happening in India and specifically in the Northeast. The Internet has been shutdown in Assam. Citizens are being harmed. People have died.

The Northeast is burning.

India is burning.

My friends were detained by the police at the peaceful protest, my family is in states that currently have no internet access, Mangalore has reported two people shot dead by the police.

I'm tired and drained and all I can do is pray that things will change. Pray that my family and friends are safe. Pray that they don't come for us next.
