Charlie Says (2019)
Years after the shocking murders that made the name Charles Manson synonymous with pure evil, the three women who killed for him -- Leslie Van Houten (Hannah Murray), Patricia Krenwinkel (Sosie Bacon), and Susan Atkins (Marianne Rendon) -- remain under the spell of the infamous cult leader (Matt Smith).
Confined to an isolated cellblock in a California penitentiary, the trio seem destined to live out the rest of their lives under the delusion that their crimes were part of a cosmic plan—until empathetic graduate student Karlene Faith (Merritt Wever) is enlisted to rehabilitate them. Convinced the prisoners are not the inhuman monsters the world believes them to be, Karlene begins the arduous process of breaking down the psychological barriers erected by Manson. But are the women ready to confront the horror of what they did?
Boundary pushing auteur Mary Harron (American Psycho, I Shot Andy Warhol) presents a provocative new perspective on one of the most notorious crimes of the 20th century.
Directed by: Mary Harron
Starring: Matt Smith, Merritt Wever, Hannah Murray, Sosie Bacon, Marianne Rendon, Suki Waterhouse, Chace Crawford, Annabeth Gish, Kayli Carter, India Ennenga
Release date: May 10, 2019

The Returned - S1 E1 - Camille
Series Synopsis: Individuals in a small town are about to be surprised when missing people start to reappear. These people don’t remember going missing or what happened to them. Families reunite and lives are affected.
Genre: mystery, drama
Episode Synopsis: We meet Camille, a student on a field trip, when her bus goes over a cliff. Everybody is presumed dead, but four years later, Camille returns to her family with no recollection of the past four years or that she was even in a crash. Her family are so happy to have her home even though they aren’t sure how she survived all that time. Now they must expose to her the changes that occurred while she was missing, such as her parents divorce. Other missing people started to reappear as well, including a little boy, a woman, and a man. Their stories haven’t been revealed yet.
Thoughts (warning - includes spoilers): The show had an interesting begin. It was well thought out to have the event that caused Camille to go missing at the beginning of the episode because it gave the viewers something to look forward to (figuring out what was going to happen because of the crash). I was confused at the beginning because the bus looked like it went straight over the cliff. I was like HOW DO YOU NOT SEE THAT THERE IS NO ROAD! At the end of the episode, it was shown that Camille was having some sort of commotion in her head that caused her to want to get off the bus. Well, newsflash Camille, nobody got off the bus because you distracted the driver by banging on the bus door demanding that he let you off. THAT was the cause of the crash as well as the strange little boy standing in the middle of the road that the bus driver tried to avoid last minute. We see this little boy earlier in the episode when another character, Julie, is going into her apartment. She tries to ask the boy who he is and if he’s lost. He doesn’t answer her so Julie takes him in for the night. My concern with this is that she is letting a complete stranger into her apartment. Yes, I get it, he’s only a little boy but still. Why not just call the cops right away? What if his family had been looking for him? I’m interested to see what happens the next day. Another missing person arrived back in town and went looking for someone named Rowan. Camille’s sister showed him where Rowan lived and when he showed up on her doorstep, Rowan started to have a mental breakdown and demanded that he leave. Later, Rowan was discussing how she was seeing “him” again to her fiance. I can’t wait to see how Rowan reacts when she realizes that he’s actually there. Another missing person came back and entered her old home and got into bed with her husband. He woke up, was shocked to see her to say the least, and called Julie. He was so shocked that when Julie answered the phone, he just hung up. The next time we see him, he’s jumping off the edge of a waterfall. I don’t know what his deal was, but I’m hoping we learn a little bit more about their relationship that will shed light onto why he committed suicide when she came back. All in all, I’m excited to watch the rest of the series. I think the plot is great and the creator Carlton Cuse did a great job on developing some of the characters thus far.

Movie Monday: About Scout
By Tahreem Alvi.
Happy Monday friends! Today I’ll be sharing the lovely film About Scout with you all! This one is a film that my sister really enjoyed and decided to share with me, and because I loved it so much I’m now sharing it with you!
About Scout follows rebellious and free spirited teen Scout (India Ennenga) after social services steps in and notices that her grandmother cannot quite take care of both Scout and her little sister Lulu (Onata Aprile). Scout has always been the one that’s handled everything at home and despite her grandmother not quite being there, things have been going on just fine. However, social services doesn’t think so. Lulu is taken away to live with her father Ray (Time Guinee) and his pregnant girlfriend Georgie, (Nikki Reed) while Scout is left to be taken in by a foster family. Now Scout isn’t one for rules, she’s never been one for rules ― she wiggles her way out of social services plan and finds herself breaking a suicidal boy named Sam (James Frecheville) out of his current situation. They end up stealing a rental car as they embark on a journey to bring her sister back so Scout and Lulu can be reunited again.
This film is filled with lots of rule breaking, tons of laughs and plenty of charm! It easily became a lovable film and I’m sure you all will enjoy it too!
You can find this gem on Netflix!! And you can click here to find the trailer for it!
Enjoy sweet ones!
Peace & Luv,
Tahreem ♡
