SRMTHFG Watch Guide
Hi everyone! I made a list for newcomers who are interested in watching SRMT but don't know where to start! : ]
'Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!' (Yes, that's really the title, 'SRMTHFG' for short) was a cartoon that aired from 2004-2006 on Jetix/Disney Channel.
It's about a boy and his team of cybernetic monkeys saving the universe from the evil Skeleton King. It sounds ridiculous... but it is so unironically good. There is plot. There is trauma. There are wacky antics. You can watch the entire series on YouTube, in HD, for free lol.
There's two versions of the show:
1080p HD, widescreen, censored (YouTube Link)
480-720p, cropped, uncensored (YouTube Link)
Personally I would recommend the HD cut. I am working on compiling every censored scene, nearly all of which are under 3 seconds (graphic violence, blood, etc.).
Under the read more is a guide to what episodes to watch, avoid, etc.
Symbol Guide:
Regular Text: Fine episode, but not required

What is this whole Vote Chen propaganda? I know that the Marshal is our wronged unappreciated princess. but you all are forgetting our origins. So let me remind you of what Ricardo has done for our country:
• Managed befriend a wild, aggressive Possum with rabies that lived in the sewers and alleys of Lós-diabos, better known as sidestep.
•poker face, all the way to hell when he saw our face being the carbon copy of the guy who killed his only good father figure. because he truly believes in us and that we are not our past or the people who raised/made us (sweet)
•fell in love with Sidestep (Stupid)
• fell in love with Sidestep while he was being a womanizer, closet bisexual and in a complicated relationship with his ex-girlfriend that he asked us to erase/change her mind/memory with our powers. (Messy)
• realized that this was a Fucked up thing to ask of us. and apologized. supports local restaurants, takes us to eat whatever we want with his Rangers's no limit/government money credit card (humble).
• Agreed to be our Boy-toy, no strings attached, sexy Fling. ( a Romantic )
•took us to live with his mother when we practically became a ticking time bomb of telepathic powers after the Nanoverse incident (a family man)
•saw his dearest friends and his team under his command fail fatally in the heartbreak mission, saw the person he loved most jumping out of a window to his death in front of his eyes and could do nothing (traumatized)
•had to endure give a speech to an empty coffin, and show the defeat publicly while still in mourning, hit a journalist in the process (iconic)
•become an alcoholic, begins to see and talk to a ghost version of us in his mind (got crazy)
•has his driver's license confiscated after riding his motorbike the wrong way on a busy highway, his electrical part of the arm generators is turned off, retires as Marshal, and threatened with losing the part of the generator that moves the legs if he doesn't go to therapy, shouts at his therapist, cries in therapy, process some of the grief in therapy( Got a lil better)
•spends the next seven years now trying to balance being part of the new team and justice for his dead mentor. a fresh start, right? (Haha oh, boy…)
the love of his life returns from the grave. More crumbled, alert, suspicious and ragged than ever.
reveals that was held in tortured captivity (that you didn't help escape)
reveals that they escaped alone and DIDN'T want to look for you back
a new villain appears and beats the shit out of you
You start dating this person 20 years younger than you for information and they give you this feeling of familiarity like your now-not dead friend, who keeps avoiding you.
Haha you still Love them.
they can now be either a villain, or in contact with the criminal siblings who killed your mentor, or creating a criminal group, or killing heroes, or an anarchist or a ReGene version of the person you once loved.
Or could it be that this person was always a Re-gene, and you were always too focused on self-affirmative theories to realize, Or ask?
a Tumblr sexy man. has to be tragic, traumatized at the same time as comically tortured by the narrative. a grown adult at the same time as a baby girl the people want Ricardo, because he is All of that AND obsessed with us ( Sidestep ) in every way, shape or Form and we deserve that
(and even if you don't take the romantic route with him. He's still obsessed with you the same way. We are, above all, his best friend and he won't let go of us)
I finish my case.
You know what's more tragic, traumatizing, and comically torturous? Him losing the tumblr sexy man tournament 😌
#i gotta applaud the dedication for this anon lmao#i wish i could think of a better rebuttal that reciprocates the effort you put in this ask but i am eepy as heck#we have been wrapped around ortega's sexy little finger for so long that it's time for a rebirth#a retribution#a revelation#and whatever the fourth book's gonna be named (i hope its revolution because it fits my point here 😤)#CHEN NATION RISE#VOTE CHEN#fhr#fallen hero#anon

Ok, this is mostly random, but I had the thought, and it wouldn’t leave me alone.
Hatsume Mei reads to me as someone who didn’t have a lot of friends growing up. Like. Maybe she wasn’t bullied or picked on, but she was Someone who had a very specific, niche interest, not to mention being INSANELY SMART, so she feels out of touch with other kids. Other kids want to talk about Power Rangers or Pokémon, and Hatsume was busy figuring out how to make a working robot-Zord or how to make a fuel efficient car. Again, no one was necessarily MEAN to her, but they didn’t often engage with her, because she was so “out there” for a bunch of average little kids. Blunt, lightning fast, unapologetic about her smarts, who was six or seven (or seventy) steps ahead of everybody else. Just. Someone who everybody thought was weird, and eventually Hatsume kind of shrugged her shoulders and just did her own thing. Who needs friends when there’s INVENTING to be done??
And I just got this crystal clear image of, after the Sports Festival, Iida goes to Hatsume to talk about their match. And Hatsume is all prepared to deal with annoyance, a lecture (which she’s going to ignore, thank you), but Iida … apologizes? Sort of? Like, he isn’t exactly HAPPY she turned their match into an ad for her inventions, but he acknowledges that for all that the Sports Festival HAS sections for Support, Buisness, and Gen Ed students (or it should?), most of the focus IS on the Hero Course kids, so her competing and turning the whole thing into an ad was more likely to get her attention than if she just set up a booth with the other Support kids. Like, again, he isn’t happy about it, but he understands, and says regardless, his attitude towards her was uncalled for. And he did think some of her stuff was neat!
Hatsume … Isn’t exactly sure how to take that, so focuses on the part of his statement she DOES know how to handle. SOME of them were neat? Which ones? Which did he not like? Why? Did it interfere his Quirk? Was the sizing wrong?
Iida seems a bit startled, but answers all her questions, clearly and concisely. They actually spend a LOT of time talking about it, Iida doesn’t even seem to mind when Hatsume jumps to other ideas, perfectly content to be her sounding board. In the end, Hatsume has a bunch of feedback, and plenty of new ideas! She excitedly tells Iida he should drop back in soon, she’ll show him the prototypes! Iida promises he will and leaves … and Hatsume expects that to be it. Like, that was a perfectly friendly interaction, she was happy about it, but she cheerfully expects it to be a one time thing - like a “wow, that was a nice surprise! Welp, back to it!” sort of thing. It isn’t conscious, but she thought he was mostly humouring her.
So, she’s surprised when he DOES turn up again. When he remembers her ideas, and wants to know how they’re going. When he asks intelligent questions, and tries to understand. When he (tentatively) asks about improvements to his own costume. When he starts recommending her to his friends. When THEY also start turning up repeatedly, sometimes for Support stuff, but also just to talk. When they invite her to stuff just … because.
It’s a couple months later, with a bunch of phone numbers, a couple sleepovers, multiple hang out invites, and being in at least six different group chats. It’s while talking to Iida about changing his helmet - a basic HUD, that’s all she’s suggesting! It would make SUCH a difference - that she realizes, oh. Oh, this-. This is friendship, isn’t it? These people are my friends.
(idk, but the thought wouldn’t leave me alone. At the very least, that’s how I see her and Iida start talking)
-
Yes! Yes yes yes!
I might have to shuffle the Timelines because outside of one mention where he was kinda coping via organizing Iida‘s having a Bad Time™ post-Sports Festival so he’d be very unfocused and would swing back around to talking to her post-Stain Incident like ‘hey I should’ve come talk before but-” and she’s like ‘dude it’s cool literally everyone knows your brother almost died not gonna be mad talking to a random girl from school’ is bumped low on the priority list’.

Original character - Aspen (he/him) Chief of the Birds and Forest Ranger 🌿✨
More info under the cut!
Aspen’s life did not play out as he expected when he was young. He didn’t want to become Chief of the birds and, even less, rule without his family there to support him. The incident that killed both his parents and his older brother changed his life forever.
He went from being a very cheerful and outgoing kid to a reserved and serious young adult, committed to his job as Ranger protecting the city. He’s a very caring and sweet person behind his serious facade, a side of himself that he’s not afraid to show to those he loves.
He’s brave and sincere and often people rely on him for advice and support. He can easily admit when he’s scared and won’t hesitate on crying in front of others. His sweet and genuine demeanor is a result of the influence his brother Neem always had on him.
He misses him deeply and still has nightmares with him. Even after all the years since his death, Aspen still tries to live up to his memory.
Elowen was a great help in learning how to live with the grief, always sweet and understanding, his life improved greatly since then. His kids, K and P also helped him see the beauty of life again. His will to live despite everything is something to be admired.
He often wonders if he has become what his younger self dreamed to be. He’s full of insecurities and doubts himself, but even if he doesn’t believe it, he became someone his younger self would rely on. Someone his brother would be proud of.
________________________________
For a bit of context:
- Aspen’s parents and older brother died in the same incident when they went to investigate what was spoiling the crops and killing the vegetation in the borders of their realm.
That left him in charge of the Bird communities at the age of 25 (he just came of age under the bird law, but was only a teenager in elf years). The birds, specially the council of elders (seven crows that must approve every decision taken), never accepted an elf as their chief and relegated him to his job as Ranger, barely letting him take any meaningful decision, even if Aspen could claim his right to it -

Seven Shots for the Road
AO3 link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/60049822
Includes: Angst, Alcohol, Alcohol abuse/alcoholism, Unhealthy coping mechanisms
Boothill was someone who could appreciate different types of drinks, but he did have his own personal preference. He would try to get his usual order, bartender be willing: seven shots of the same malt juice. However, he'd only take a sip from each. No more, no less. In those shots was a whole storm's worth of memories and emotions of a single wild soul.
****Major spoilers for the new continuance quest Banana Outrage: Battles Without Ninja and Humanity; also spoilers for Boothill's lore if you haven't seen it****
Sweet and mellow with a strong kick
That was an appropriate description for the flavor profile of Boothill's preferred malt drink.
It was a rough time in Penacony trying to resolve the whole Slumbernana incident so why not treat himself to some malt juice? The AtaviSearch Forest caused so much chaos and he was up for some Asdana's White Oak right about now. The Galaxy Ranger was in Dreamflux Reef and the DJ session by Robin had ended just a while ago. He chose to wander around for a bit and during his stroll, he took in the atmosphere of the dreamscape. Quiet, dark, and interestingly normal...
Obviously when compared to the dazzling Golden Hour, Dreamflux Reef seemed more like a humble environment. There was something about it that called out to Boothill. What that something was remained unclear to the cowboy. Was it the fact that the inhabitants remained true to themselves even in a dream world? Was it the blanket of silence that could somehow relax him? Was it the whirlpool in the sky that made for a beautiful view? Almost made it sound like...home. Not exactly the same, but he could imagine being in a place like this if it weren't a dream world.
After admiring the place for a bit, he got up and mulled over whether to stop by Jessie's bar or to head somewhere else for his drinks. A gleaming star in the sky had Boothill looking up and remembering that the Trailblazer's Stern sold some good Asdana's White Oak. At the same time, he might even get to encounter the owner if he got lucky.
The Galaxy Ranger tipped his hat down to Dreamflux Reef as a farewell then made his way to the ship.
"Hmm? Boothill, is that you?"
"Hey there, partner! You in charge of mixin' up drinks tonight?"
"Yeah, after everything with the Slumbernana incident, I figured I could stop by my ship and make some drinks. Help to get my mind off it for a bit, you know?"
"Heh, yeah, I get ya."
Just like that, two friends were quickly reunited at the bar. The Trailblazer was decked out in a bartender's outfit, which they felt was a breath of fresh air from their usual Astral Express clothes. Boothill would also agree that they looked nice in a different outfit. Sleeves were rolled up to their elbows while they were wiping down a glass. A gentle smile was also plastered on their face, exposing a friendly demeanor. As they placed the glass down with a soft clink, they redirected their attention back to Boothill.
"Now what can I get for you, Mr. Galaxy Ranger?"
"Heh, I'll have my usual Asdana's White Oak. Ya better have it the way I like it! Oh yeah, make it seven shots."
"Yeah, yeah, seven shots of Asdana's White Oak. Don't worry, they've already had bullets soaked in them. You know, I had to explain to the staff members why I needed to keep a separate stash of it with some bullets sitting in it. You can imagine the horror on their faces." They let out an exasperated sigh at the memory of the baffled crew members during training.
"HAH!!! Y'all don't get it. The bullet makes the drink mellow out, nothin' difficult to understand 'bout it. You should try it sometime."
"Hehe, I'll take your word for it."
The Trailblazer prepared the seven shots without question. After placing the shot glasses in front of Boothill, they noticed other customers at the bar and proceeded to tend to them.
The cowboy stared at the shot glasses for a moment before taking one sip from the first one he grabbed. It wasn't too alcoholic, but if it were left alone as it was without anything, its normal sweetness could almost taste too intoxicating for some.
Hence the bullet to mellow it out...
He didn't finish his first shot, but he proceeded to do the same for the rest of them. One sip from each, no more and no less...
Every shot reminded him of Aeragan-Epharshel before that happened. It was hard not to think of it when the drink just tasted and looked so much like it.
With the color of the malt juice, he could see the golden plains of his homeland. The Trailblazer left a bullet in one of his shots (he was VERY insistent the first few times about having at least one bullet for himself when he ordered his drinks) and seeing the gleam of it reminded him of the beautiful sunrises. He could imagine himself waking up before the crack of dawn to get a glimpse of the sun slowly rising to the sky. Black and blue would turn into purple and pink until an explosion of gold appeared on the horizon at the right moment.
The kick he got from the first sip made him think of the eagle's cry. If he closed his eyes and imagined hard enough, he could hear her calling out in the blue sky as she passed over the plains and canyons. She never failed to remind him of nature's majesty.
The drink's sweetness brought up memories of the horses he had raised into adulthood. Boothill kept a smile on his face as he drank. The gentle years of watching over the farm with Nick and Graey made an even deeper crinkle in his smiling eyes.
The warmth that lingered at the back of his throat conjured up happy memories of being around a fire with his family and friends. He could hear the soft strumming of a banjo and the beautiful voices singing a familiar tune. In the next moment, he could hear the steady beating of the horses' gallops as he and his brethren traversed the plains.
The clinks of the shot glasses as he placed each one down on the bar reminded him of his daughter's laughter. She was quite the crier (read: screamer) as a baby and as she grew up, she somehow still managed to maintain that distinct sound. Boothill chuckled a bit at the memory of her softly patting the guitar he used to play.
Within those seven sips, he managed to relive his past life full of wonderful memories in his mind.
A figure appeared in his peripheral and he realized it was the Trailblazer. "Are the rest of the shots not to your liking?" Under normal circumstances, they would question and fear waste, but considering this was Boothill, they chose to keep that thought to themself. It was better to be safe than sorry since the cowboy could be a Karen at times.
"Huh? Oh nah, it's just...a very old habit of mine."
"Ah, I see. I wasn't sure if the first few times were just coincidences, but you really do order seven shots and take only seven sips. Quite an interesting habit."
Boothill waited a few moments before asking, "Ain't ya gonna ask why?"
"Do you want me to ask about it? I won't pry into it if you would prefer to keep it that way. I know that we've all got our own secrets to hide. We can always have conversations about other topics or continue in peace until you feel ready to go. I just want to let you know that I'm here if you want to talk. The bar is pretty empty now since the other customers wanted to check out the restaurant so they left earlier with their drinks in tow."
"It's not like I was tryin' to hide it from you, it's just-"
To be fair, it did tie into personal reasons, but he also saw no issue with the bartender. He just never felt the need to bring it up with them during the time they got to know each other. Strangers had no business knowing about his story, but with the Trailblazer...
Boothill looked straight into their eyes. Immediately he could tell that he could trust them if he chose to be vulnerable. Perhaps it was the golden shine in their eyes that called out to him...
"Well, it's not like much would change even if ya knew...I'll tell ya."
"Hang on, I'll get someone to cover for me and we can move elsewhere in case more customers come in. Good timing since I needed a break from mixing drinks." The Trailblazer went to find someone to replace them then brought themself and Boothill to some private room on the ship. They found a chair to sit across from Boothill who was sitting on the couch. "Please don't feel pressured to tell me everything. Just go at your own pace."
"Darn...huh, where do I even start? I don't know how much ya heard 'bout me aside from being a Galaxy Ranger, but I used to be normal. I wasn't all machine and wires and chips. I was...alive. I grew up on a planet called Aeragan-Epharshel with my adopted parents. They were good people, taught me everything I know. I wish ya could've seen my home. The plains, the skies, the canyons, all of them were darn gorgeous! It truly was worth dyin' for...but I guess that sounds wrong of me to say after that muddle fudger and his goons came to fork everything up."
Boothill raised a hand up to grasp at his forehead in frustration.
"That son of a nice lady came and he.....he took everything I loved. My parents, my friends, my people, even my lil' rascal of a daughter.....my home was taken. I couldn't save anyone or anything in the end...."
He shifted his hand on his face to gauge his listener's reaction. They simply nodded and waited for Boothill to say anything whether it was to continue or to stop. It was the first time he felt able to talk about his past. Truth be told, his rage was so loud and yet his voice felt so quiet compared to how he usually sounded. He didn't have the heart to yell or scream. In fact, he didn't want to do any of that. He wanted to cry because he was tired, but he couldn't because he was just so tired. The pain, the rage, the despair...he may be made up of machinery, but deep down, he was still a human.
Of course, he wouldn't stop until he completed his revenge, but it just feels too cruel a fate for a single soul to burn himself out on his mission.
"Those seven shots...they're for the ones I lost back then. Don't look like it now, but I used to drink all seven shots with nothin' left. Back then, shortly after I got my new body, I was too angry to care if I drank too much. Drinkin' was something I could 'enjoy' without my body sufferin' too much. Since then, I drank less because I figured they probably wouldn't want me doin' that to myself. I already set myself for revenge and turned into a killin' machine, probably could do with less drinkin' even if it seems wasteful now to keep orderin' seven. Maybe by the time I get that muddle fudger, I won't be able to drink anymore, heh...for now, it's the only way I can do somethin' for them when I couldn't back then."
Boothill sighed then leaned back on the couch.
"Ya know, my module's not meant to keep a lotta info, otherwise I crash. I kept some important memories of them in there, but that Asdana's White Oak also helps me to remember them. I just keep seeing them whenever I have my malt juice...makes me feel like I'm home again. Well, that's all there is to it. Now ya know the story to my old habit."
The Trailblazer looked at him with understanding. "I'm sorry...and thank you, Boothill. I figured you've been through a lot. I hope one day...you can find peace wherever that may be in this universe."
"Heh, maybe one day although I'm doubtful..."
The Galaxy Ranger and the Trailblazer could only hope that they both find whatever their hearts desire at the end of their journeys. May their hearts burn bright as they move forward to their futures.
Seven shots for the road
One for Nick
One for Graey
One for my lil' rascal
One for my friends
One for my people
One for my home
One for the me that died with them
****Based off that one scene in the quest where Boothill ordered seven shots but only took a sip from each, the imaginary angst set in real quick after reading that lmaooo
Also I don't know much about the specifics of alcohol so some of this might sound inaccurate if you know mixology and/or bartending oof I'm sorry T^T****

Kaiju Weeks in Review (July 16-29, 2023)
Legendary announced a pair of Monsterverse comics during a panel at San Diego Comic Con. They've said nothing further since, and no one posted the panel online, so I have less to tell you than I'd like. Godzilla x Kong: The Hunted is the obligatory prequel comic for the film. From the pages they showed off, it looks like Zid has art duties again (well-deserved) and the monsters that Kong is fighting could be the "swamp kitt[ies]" cut from Godzilla vs. Kong. Release date is February 27. Monsterverse Declassified is going to spotlight some of the series' original monsters, with the previews showing Behemoth, Amhuluk, and Tiamat. (Supposedly Scylla, Doug, and the previously-unseen Abaddon will be in it too.)
Toho is finally letting Togen's 4K scans of some of its Godzilla films out of satellite TV jail as tie-ins to Godzilla Minus One. Godzilla (1954) and Mothra vs. Godzilla are coming to 4K Ultra HD on October 25, with Ghidorah, the Three Headed Monster, Invasion of Astro-Monster, and Destroy All Monsters on November 22 and Godzilla vs. Hedorah and Godzilla vs. Biollante. Expect them to be as English-unfriendly as Toho's other releases - but a vague promise of "unused special effects footage", combined with some very crisp-looking photos in a recent book, means there's a chance the Frontier Missile sequence from Godzilla vs. The Thing will be included with Mothra vs. Godzilla. That'd be a godsend, considering how elusive an uncropped, uncut, high-quality version of the scene has proven to be.
These releases will easily be the best Mothra vs. Godzilla, Ghidorah, Astro-Monster, and Biollante have ever looked on home video. But with Togen shutting down, it's unclear when the rest of the pre-Shin films in the series will get upgrades. (It's also unclear when Toho will permit anyone outside Japan to use these versions for streaming or home video.) So this announcement feels bittersweet to me.
youtube
We have a release date for GAMERA -Rebirth- (September 7), a second trailer, and a reveal for the final monster: Viras! As @starestream pointed out, there's a lot of Legion in that design (along with Iris in Zigra). And as Maser Patrol pointed out, this is the same enemy kaiju lineup that Trendmasters chose for its toyline back in 1998. Poor Barugon, no one wants to taste the rainbow (and it probably hurts that he's so visually similar to Jiger too). To be honest, this trailer didn't do much for me; a bit too chaotic. Hopefully it'll be easier to tell what's happening in the show proper.
Bandai, of course, has readied Movie Monster Series figures of Viras, Zigra, and Guiron already. We're also getting a prequel manga set 100,000 years before the show.
Decades after his rampage through the Marvel Universe, Godzilla is barging into the world of DC (where he'll finally meet Batman). Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong is a seven-issue limited series launching October 17, written by Brian Buccellato (who also penned the short "Fight or Flight" comic that will be included in Legends of the Monsterverse: The Omnibus later this year) with art by Christian Duce. The inciting incident is a battle between the Justice League and the Legion of Doom, which tears a hole in reality to let the Monsterverse through.
I'll confess, I was more jazzed for last year's Power Rangers crossover, thanks to the tokusatsu link. This could just be more of Warner Bros. Discovery bashing its toys together. I'm most curious to see if the Legion of Doom makes a bid to conquer the Monsterverse, which with Godzilla and Kong out of the picture is far less prepared for them than the DC universe is for a couple of giant monsters. Superman beats them all, as Ken Yano once said.
Hiya is stepping further out of S.H.Monsterarts' shadow with a figure of the female MUTO, a character long neglected by toymakers. They showed her off at San Diego Comic Con. Playmates meanwhile releases an ad for Titan Tech Rodan - I'm glad they're not giving up on this delightful subline.
Summer Smash concludes IDW's middle-grade Monsters and Protectors storyline, which has spanned the entirety of their second go-round with Godzilla. You can tell it was supposed to be another miniseries; Godzilla, Jet Jaguar, and Mothra send Mecha-King Ghidorah and the Xiliens packing pretty quickly. Art's still great though.
Godzilla Rivals will persist into October with Vs. Mechagodzilla, the magnificent machine being the last of the Toho's Big Five to headline one of these comics. The intriguing logline:
IS YOUR CITY BESIEGED BY KAIJU? DO YOU LIE AWAKE AT NIGHT ANXIOUSLY LISTENING FOR THE MONSTER SIRENS? HAVE YOU HAD ALL YOU CAN TAKE OF GIANT LIZARDS, MOTHS, PTERODACTYLS, AND SHRIMP? THEN CALL TRACER TECH TODAY! OUR STATE-OF-THE-ART ANTI-KAIJU TECHNOLOGY HAS ALLOWED DOZENS OF CITIES AROUND THE WORLD TO FEND OFF THE THREAT OF MONSTER ATTACK. San Palomar, California. It’s a sleepy city with not much going on. That is, until Tracer Tech built their new corporate headquarters there, displacing lifelong citizens and forcing out local businesses. But what is the source of Tracer’s amazing, almost alien technology, and why has it put San Palomar in Godzilla’s sights? And what can a couple of local kids like Alex and Jaz do to protect their city when the King of the Monsters and its robot doppelgänger clash?
SRS Cinema has opened preorders for The Whale God, revealing this cover art by Bob Eggleton. Special features aren't anything spectacular (they're vaguely described, but I think a couple of essays are included, plus the obligatory trailers). Should be out by the end of the year.
The disc replacement program for Cleopatra Entertainment's misbegotten Shin Ultraman releases has resulted in an only marginally better product. The opening montage has subtitles now... but like the rest of the movie, they're just copied from the English dub. Dubtitles in 2023... and for a film that already has a perfectly good official English translation, no less. Oh, and they threw in some new visual glitches too. If your local library picks up a copy, I recommend telling them about the disc replacement program (as I've done), but don't give these clowns your money.

Eugene Skullovitch canon and non canon kids
-stares at his sheer List of close friendships, implied romances, romances, and everything in between- I think Skull vies with Tommy for sheer amounts. Tommy or Billy, but definitely up there. At the very least I can say this is because he’s a reoccurring character over several seasons and movies and not because they were trying to force a hetero romance so nobody noticed the actor was gay. Skull’s naturally flirtatious demeanor and huge presence in the show is certainly to blame for this. So. I’m more than likely missing some, but -shrugs- I am doing My Best lol.
Canon kids:
Unknown mother;
Spike Skullovitch. Like Minh the other parent isn’t known or needed, so Spike never got her named. It’s led to a lot of ideas of who the mom is, au’s where he’s a putty hybrid, and just a whole lot of fun. But let’s focus on canon. Spike is the teenaged son of a now very famous and very rich Eugene Skullovitch. He spent the summer with his “uncle” Bulk. He’s got a massive crush on Mia and he wants to be a samurai and he’s always eager to help the power rangers. And can I just say I love this guy? He’s a cinnamon role. He’s a sweetie. He’s a baby doll and must be protected at all costs. He’s the sweetest of the confirmed canon kids we know of so far (I AM looking at Coinless!Adam’s unnamed son, yes I am. Child I wish we’d seen you before you died. I’d love to know your name) unfortunately the descendants don’t seem to get a lot of personality as a general rule, and even Spike’s a little light on personality. He’s got enough to make him stand out from his dad. But, I can’t help but adore him lol. Sir who are you and who’s your mom? Second bit doesn’t matter but I’d love to know you better.
Non canon oc and alternate reality kids and grandkids:
for the sake of not wanting to sound repetitive, not every universe will have Spike, just ones that make sense/would be interesting for him.
Kimberly Hart;
Stormy Hart, aged seventeen. Her parents are separated. Despite the rocky start with Eugene being Kim’s rebound, they got together again after the Candace Incident. Kim progressed on Eugene’s terms, and they had a kiddo right as they were applying for colleges. It was a bit difficult and they made it work, but when Stormy was seven they finally had to separate, though they’re not on bad terms. Stormy is Spike’s half sister, and has her own band. Has anxiety and depression. Doesn’t spend time with brother or Bulk, at least as much as she should. Mostly for her appearance. Got extremely jealous of Spike over the power rangers thing though! She generally lives with her mom, not her dad, hence why she doesn’t spend time with Spike. She loves her goofy half brother but she’s at the age where her image is important to her. She doesn’t have any colors associated with her.
Katherine Hillard;
I thought his mild attempts at flirting were cute. They got together after Turbo’s movie. Kat realized she was never going to replace Kim for Tommy, and broke up with him. She got with Skull after a few months and some very creative ways to ask her out. They have two sons. The oldest is Squire Hillard. Aged 17. He’s average height and kind of a brilliant himbo. He lets his reputation cover him like a mask, but he’s pretty devious when he’s properly motivated. A little bit of a tail chaser. He keeps striking out, but that never stopped him. While he is a power ranger (pink), he’s having fun running a podcast questioning who the power rangers are. This cover is so good not even Kat’s figured out he’s pink turbo ranger. Looks like a surfer bro. Prefers it that way. Half brother of Spike Skullovitch. Has had to save his half brother three times so far. Barely gets along with his dad, county Sheriff Eugene Skullovitch, but they’re trying. He’s closer to Kat and like her is a professional diver. He wants to get into the Olympics. His general outfit could best be described as “someone from the peppermint forest in candyland decided to become a pirate”. He actually has a rap sheet. He’s got middle child syndrome and you can usually find him with his friends, the other Turbo rangers, or with Bulk, or egging grandmas house with Devon. He’s giving Eugene a bald spot is what he’s doing. Spike does his best, but they really don’t see eye to eye. Squire likes his big brother, there’s just a bit of frustration with him.
Devon Skullovitch, aged eleven. Unlike Squire he’s not blond and looks more like Eugene and Spike. Bulk calls him the baby buddy, and it annoys him so so much. Loves video games and fixing cars. Can eat his weight in lasagna. Not associated with any color. Knows his brother is up to something, unsure what. Often getting babysit by half brother. Is known to egg his grandmothers house. A lot. It’s a problem.
Billy Cranston;
After being best friends as kids, then not, then sort of friends, then maybe more...they have two kids. Charlie Cranston, aged twenty two, and Oscar "Skid" Cranston, aged twenty. Charlie and Oscar are both via a science experiment, where Billy combined his and Eugene's genetic codes in a randomizer, to see if anything would happen that was viable as a sperm and egg equivalent. Yes, he got permission for this from Eugene. He sold the patent, and lives happily with his and Eugene's kids. Charlie is a blue solar ranger. She has been since she was seventeen. Billy didn't know at first and when he found out....he grounded her for not telling him. Then came back thirty minutes later, apologized, ungrounded her, and told her to be careful. Eugene doesn't get it as much but he's trying, he really is. He worries more than Billy, though Billy does often find himself staring up at the stars on late nights with tea in his hand, knots in his stomach and hoping he sees his daughter for Christmas. It's different, somehow, when they're in space and not in town.
Oscar is friends with a Bulkmeier, of course. He's the family "problem child", in a general sense. The prankster, and he's super smart. He is mild enough nobody really thinks he's as smartass and clever as he is. His entire motivation is cause as much chaos as possible. He used to prank his sister once a month until she left, and he's the one who let slip she's a power ranger because she was thrown through a building in front of him. She didn't know he knew, and he's been apologizing since via no more pranks, and gifts. so many gifts. Her favorite foods, updates on her favorite bands, jewelry she'd like. He doesn't have to but he feels bad. This was the closest they ever got to the family splintering. Trini, Zack, and Jason do their best to help the three deal with Charlie in space. Oscar works as a janitor, isn't really interested in dealing with school or anything. He likes doing his hobbies while having a stable job.
variation; they get together when he helps Skull with his newborn son. Spike takes care of his little siblings, and helped Oscar get his nickname and his current job. Billy is eternally caring to his adopted kid, and does the best he can by Spike.
variation 2; Charlie becomes Charlie from A Team. This time, Billy DOES ground her. she never hears the end of it
Farkas Bulkmeier;
Absolutely nobody was surprised when they got together. Eugene became a teen dad and Bulk didn't even think twice. He could fit boyfriend in one arm and baby in the other and he often did in the early days when sleeping with the two. For comfort and sense of protection. Skull was his best friend, and everything he'd ever want in a partner. They didn't bother with a ceremonial wedding, it was just going to get the paperwork signed and then having a big party celebrating with their friends. They have Spike, of course, and adopted one more. Between Spike and Amy, they're good. Sharkie offered to be a surrogate, and Billy offered a way to mix their genetics, but after a long talk with each other and them, it was just Spike and Amy.
Amy and Spike are the same age, with a four month difference. Spike's more emotionally mature than his sister, but Amy's more cunning and less naive than Spike. Currently both eighteen. She's jaded in a lot of ways and makes sure her brother doesn't have to be. Spike has had to ask her not to threaten any partners he might get with, because he can handle himself. She's had to occassionaly ask this goes both ways. Amy is considering being a mechanic, or a roadie for Skull or Spike. She likes feeling useful, she likes puzzles and chess and general challenges. Cannot cook to save her life, but she's a whiz at baking. She's better at math than anyone else in her family. But english is the bane of her existence. Is not associated with a color.
Tommy Oliver;
Tommy invited Skull to a carnival. After first being asked if Skull was a rebound-with a fast follow up to make sure Tommy wasn't taking him to something run entirely by putties-and then asking if he was sure sure Goldar and Skorpina wouldn't be there-Tommy decided he was going to make this a date. and the best one of Skull's life. The effort to help this guy have a proper, healthy, fair love life, meant it more or less accidentally lead to falling in love and while not marriage, they do live together. They have Spike, an adopted daughter Eliza, and a son together named Hunter. Rita thought it'd "bury the hatchet" and had the forethought to let them know she'd decided her first act of being nice would be something that would benefit them. Has not in fact, buried any negative feelings but the effort did mean something. Tommy's straight up told all three of his kids they're not allowed to go to Briarwood. Just in case.
Eliza "Lizzie" Oliver is 21, and wants to be a reporter. Thinks Tommy's worries are a little extreme when they directly affect his kids' lives, but she humors him even as an adult, because she loves him and wants to see him happy. A little selfish, but very smart. Good at picking up on subtext and helps explain things that go over her brothers' heads when she's with them. Tommy's too because he might be smart, but the man is kinda dumb. Not very organized, but somehow always has what she needs in her giant purse. Very resourceful, knows how to pick locks, and is capable of two types of martial arts.
Hunter Oliver-Skullovitch is 16. He's just trying to get through highschool guys, please let him get through highschool. He's been kidnapped twice, and he really just wants to be left alone. More of a punk than Tommy gets, but Tommy and Skull are supportive of his tastes and choices in life. Unfortunately everybody wants a piece of this kid, and while he's not associated with any color (by sheer force of will), this is not from lack of attempts. Hunter's just very very good at making himself too much of a nuisance to be worth taking. Like his siblings he knows two types of martial arts, can pick locks, knows how to get into vents, knows four ways to get out of ropes and other bindings, and can say "help me I've been kidnapped" in twelve languages. as well as "fire!" and "that's not a human!". He loves monster movies, because the monsters actually seem to pose a challenge. He and Tommy do have an understanding, and Tommy and Skull are both happy to let Hunter have a choice in becoming a ranger. He won't get forced into it, if he does he will do this fully with his eyes open and knowing what he's getting into. He will become a black ranger, when he's around 20, and it will be his choice.
Jason Lee Scott;
They were paired up for a school assignment a little after Tommy was reformed and saved from Rita. It was annoying, especially with Skull being so cagey and Bulk straight up threatening him if he went to the Skullovitch residence or business. When Jason dared, he realized why. And had to get saved from Mrs Skullovitch flirting with him. Which earned Skull a lot of verbal abuse as he pulled Jason far away from the house.
While he found our later she was drunk and had mistaken him for someone older, it was still rather panic inducing. Also embarrassing for the Skullovitch brothers and Bulk. He had to stop Stan apologizing on behalf of her, and understood Bulk’s anger. Jason felt the need to make it up to Skull, and they went from antagonizing each other to friends to semi-secretly dating each other. Everyone knew except Skull’s family. Jason didn’t even know what made him angrier; the fact Skull felt he had to protect Jason, or the fact that he lived in Tommy’s house whenever Tommy’s parents didn’t live there, and Skull’s parents didn’t seem to notice. They have one adopted daughter. Skull’s a guidance counselor at their old high school, and Jason is a karate instructor. Rebecca Scott is actually Stan’s, but Stan died and his girlfriend died in a car crash caused by monster activity, and the newborn was the only survivor. Eugene would have adopted her with or without Jason there. Luckily Jason was there, and Jason fell in instalove with the baby. She was very small and he loved her.
Jason and Skull got married to make it easier for Jason to formally adopt Rebecca, in case something happened and because everyone felt distancing her and Skull from the Skullovitch legacy was the best idea, and this could be accomplished by taking Jason's last name. He was only too happy to do this. He was disinherited by his dad, but it doesn't matter. The guy lost out on getting to know a great kid. Rebecca’s blind from the car accident, and has a dog and a cane to help her around. She’s 15, and nothing stops her. She’s got a lot of caution, but very little outright fear. The power rangers will protect the civilians, and her skills and disability aids help keep her safe as well. She loves to read, and has read every braille book in the library twice. She’s aware her dads are power rangers, and most of her extended family. They’re not going to let anything happen to her. And she’s going to make sure nothing happens to them. Rebecca is opinionated with a very strong sense of right and wrong. She’s actually rather blunt, but tries to be nice about it. She knows her mind and she knows how to direct people, but she hates being in a confrontation. Not associated with a color, but it’d probably be red or bronze if she were.
Trini Kwan;
He kept asking her out until she agreed to go out with him. And actually had a nice time. So she humored him again, and again, it was nice. They weren't seeing seeing each other though, and both of them had their kids around the same time. Skull had Spike, and Trini had Minh, and they liked each other fine and loved each other's kids. They had one more, together. August Kwan. He's thirteen, and a complete introverted social butterfly. He loves showing off and gushing about his interests but he hates dealing with too many people for too long. He's really into piano, like Skull. A composer for video game music sounds like a really fun profession, so maybe when he's older he'll work towards that. But he's thirteen, he's got time. He has a stuffed animal he's been attached to since he was two, is half convinced stuffed animal is sentient, and carries it around in his hoodie or backpack. He's not ready to let it go, and Trini fully understands, supports, and gets this. When he's ready, Banjo the seal plushy, will be put beside her own childhood doll Ticklesneezer. Skull's following along with the gentle parenting; he's a bit out of his depth but he appreciates and loves that their kids are being actively supported. He's working on it, and so far the kids aren't traumatized, so something must be working.
Rito Revulto;
Eugene managed to get him and Bulk out of being turned into chimpanzees by a (justifiably) pissed off Rito by convincing him of a role reversal; Bulk and Skull be the maids, Rito and Goldar act as Bulk and Skull. But this means Goldar and Rito have to commit to the things Bulk and Skull were doing. In this case, junior officers. It is a very weird set up, but Rito likes a challenge, he and Goldar decide it's fair, and the power rangers, Vile, Zordon and Alpha and Rita and Zedd are completely confused, but Rito tends to commit to whatever he sets his mind to, and Goldar has a very specific moral code he lives by and this falls in line with it. Vile occasionally tries to cause the comedy duo to go back on their word so he can get his tool-I mean son-back, but the rangers do step in enough to help them. As does Stone, Ernie, and the others.
Eugene and Rito bond over highly shitty parents and realizing they're very similar. They're both people pleasers whose trauma responses is sarcastic quips and being class clown types. Rito turned Eugene's parents into a couple of dogs, and while he contemplated doing the same to Stan, he simply made sure Stan got a big break in the music scene. He couldn't convince Eugene to leave earth at first, until Eugene got left behind by Bulk. There was really nothing left for him on earth, so Eugene took him up on it. They're pirates, and have their own ship, and their son Elio is the apple of their eye. Elio is 26. He's cunning, fast talking, fast thinking, fast acting and has very little fear. He's as courageous as Skull and Rito try to pretend they are. He's bold, and wicked, but he's a man of his word. He has a devil's lock coloring in his hair. Stark black hair and stark white in streaks has gotten him an affectionate nickname of Skunk, but when he likes someone he asks they call him Elio. He listens to his parents and is completely loyal to them, but not out of fear. They're genuinely good at being leaders of their group, and sort of seen as the father figures of most of the crew. Elio follows his dads because he genuinely loves working for them. He did have a splash of rebelliousness in his teens though. He learned the violin, not the piano. When not pirating, they live on Mirinoi with Bulk. He's been to earth a few times, and loves fucking with JJ Oliver, it's hilarious. Not associated with a color, but he'd happily get to know a certain shade of Green.
Does Bulk especially like the lifestyle choice for his best buddy, best buddy's partner and best buddy's kid? no. Can he deny this is the happiest he's ever seen Skull? also no. He is literally living out a childhood fantasy, and thriving. Billy, however, is this close to losing it and throwing all three in a prison on Aquitar. Skull's not even sure if this is from jealousy or being a power ranger. Or the fact Elio's flirting with every ranger close to his age as a battle tactic. Some more seriously than the others.
a tangential au is where Vile kills his parents and forces Elio to work for him. He did offer him as a valid vessel to Specter, but it didn’t work. This version he does get with JJ, who went undercover on the ship to figure out what exactly happened. They manage to get Elio and the crew out of Vile's clutches safely. Elio goes from being like Rito to a lot more like comic!Skull. Divatox is partly responsible for what happens, having gotten tired of the competition.
Adam Park;
Eugene doesn't believe in himself, but Adam does, did, and always has. They started dating after Adam encouraged him to play the piano in the talent show. Adam loves his music, and they're both encouraging of each other. Aisha is a surrogate for their son, Lukas. Given how close she was to Adam, it was only natural in her mind to offer. She loves him, loves he's found happiness, and when they decided they wanted kids she wanted to help that happiness grow. Lukas Park's 17, plays piano, and volunteers at the animal shelter. Adam's a doctor and while Lukas respects and likes this, he'd rather be a veterinarian. Or, like Skull, a professional classical pianist. They support Lukas with whatever he wants to do or be, and he loves the fact he's not being pressured. Skull once sat him down with a list of every job he's ever done (the list was actually more like an entire manila folder bursting out the sides, it was frankly impressive), a ranking system and how much each profession made. Everything from a cop to a detective to an undercover agent for the government to a waiter at a bar to a judge at a pet show to rockstar to pianist-it was comprehensive and a little overwhelming, but at the end of each profession Skull said if it was what he wanted, he'd be proud. At the end it left Lukas fairly calm and certain no matter what choice he made, it'd be the right choice for him, and his dads would support him in this. not associated with a color
Aisha Campbell;
She asked him out and he thought it was a joke. It wasn't. They found they actually challenge each other in interesting ways. She also hates his mom and her parents love him, so that helped a lot. They've got a daughter, Kensie Campbell. Aged 15. Excitable by nature, is in the drama club. Has a near perfect memory, uses this for shenanigans, mostly when sassing her many many honorary aunts and uncles or annoying villains and monsters. Eugene is so, so proud. Aisha sometimes worries the know it all attitude is going to get her in trouble. However, nothing's happened-yet-and Kensie does seem to slowly be learning how to read the room. She plays piano to help her think. Her favorite is moonlight sonata. It partially annoys Skull, but his favorite composer is Bach, so it's more of a principle thing. Kensie is a soccer player, and has a very close best friend. Skull's getting the "what to in case you're kidnapped by a monster with your best friend" speech ready, just in case a group of crime fighting teenagers with attitude show up. not associated with a color
Zack Taylor;
Zack's always tried to give Bulk and Skull the benefit of the doubt and never felt any true antagonistic feelings to them. Annoyance sure, but he doesn't hate them. Eugene took a while to warm up to Zack though, because nice doesn't mean trustworthy, and the two eventually started dating when Eugene realized no, Zack really is just that sweet. They run an ice cream parlor together and have two adopted kids. Achibald "Archie" Taylor and Marigold "Mari" Taylor.
Archie was adopted in his teens, and while this means he doesn't get to have as much time growing up with Zack and Skull as his dads, he's got the rest of his life with them as his parents, and that's the best thing he's ever heard. He was adopted out of the foster care system at thirteen, and is nineteen. He loves botany and magic tricks. Being a stage magician or professional botanist would be really really cool. He doesn't play piano or dance but he loves watching Zack and loves listening to Eugene practice at night. Is unsure what he wants to do with his life, but inheriting the ice cream parlor would be nice, if the botany or the stage magician thing doesn't work out. is not associated with a color.
Mari was adopted last year. She's fourteen and getting used to living with her brother and her dads. They're kinda weird, but she likes them. It is weird going to a new school in a new town, with a new last name. She doesn't really know what she likes, she's still figuring it out, but she knows she likes it here and that's good enough. She does miss her old friends and home a little, but she is making new friends. Zack and Eugene give her space and understanding, and Archie's been great with advice and settling in. not associated with a color.
Sharkie;
They got together after Bulk left earth, but Sharkie did always prefer Bulk over Skull. They separated, but they're still friends. They have a son, Felix, aged 17, and he's seriously considering dropping out and going on a cross country road trip to find himself. He doesn't know what he wants or who he is. He's a lot like his parents, but he's not sure if that was just trying to make them happy or if he genuinely likes these things. They tried by him, he knows this. He's not even half bad. He just doesn't know if he's supposed to be having a midlife crisis at 17. Will be solar green ranger, and realize he enjoys country-rock (the kind of country rock that talks about murders, curses and being a gunslinger in a loveless land or people randomly turning into crows), has a knack for learning new languages, and likes ballet. He's been in ballet since he was four but so was Sharkie so the confirmation he likes it is nice. Also learns he likes playing piano, genuinely. Also nice. He comes home quite happy and a lot more settled into himself, and Skull and Sharkie are proud of him.
Tasha;
It was a complete accident, and they both feel really weird about it. But they kept the kid. Tuskin "Tusk" Skullovitch is lead singer in a punk band, and a bit of a bully at school. He's brilliant but finds it difficult to apply himself in anything he doesn't find an interest in. He loves puns, and loves confusing people. He likes studying rocks because rock music. It takes people a second. He's been smacked more than once over this, but doesn't mind. Bit clever, bit bored, bit of a troublemaker, bit of a pain in his parent's necks. Eugene does love his kid but wow, he's a little bit of a snot. Eugene's forced him into being a lifeguard over the summer to just-try and get this kid some sort of friendship with someone so he can have an attitude adjustment.
Marleau Eskin;
Surprisingly not the worst. He got her to be less of a bitch in an incident were they were taken together by a monster, and he actually lost his temper and snapped at her. When she tried to deflect by getting him to back down with a challenge (which to be fair normally worked), he raised an eyebrow, took a breath, and let loose. To say she had to do some soul searching after the extremely thorough roast would be putting it mildly. She stopped being as much of a mean girl, and he asked her out to prom. More as a dare, but she said yes. One thing led to another and while they don't talk anymore, they do have joint custody of their son Rusty Eskin. Marleau is the mayor of Angel Grove, Skull is a mechanic. It's kind of a whiplash every other month to go from mayor manor to an apartment over a carshop, but Rusty doesn't mind very much. Marleau's learned to be a lot nicer over the years, and she's a much milder version of herself to her son. Rusty on his part likes being at the carshop almost more than the manor, but it's less to do with Marleau and more to do with he hates the reputation he gets with "the mayor's son" and much prefers getting his hands dirty on a car with his dad. He likes problem solving, and fixing things. He likes shop class and he built his own motorcycle for one of the classes. He got his license and he's promised both parents he'll be careful. And he has been. He's also orange turbo ranger. This suits him more than fine.
Candice/Zelya;
Candice told him the truth about who she was, and to put it mildly, he was hurt. He had to put his foot down and tell her he needed to think about it. He really needed to think about what he was going to be doing, and what they were going to be. She waited, and he came back. And was accepting of it, mainly because she'd bit the bullet and been honest. However he had ground rules. She couldn't lie to him, if they had a kid (because things happen) the kid was going to be co-parented and if she wanted to raise future kids as an Eltaran fine but either they spent time on earth or Skull lived with them, or they did the best they could on earth. She was just grateful he was willing to try. Bulk eventually forgave her, when she went against her commander and stopped being the Bronze Guardian for the sake of her relationship with Skull. She fought in the Eltaran War against the Eltarans. While she was captured with the intent of re-educating, she was rescued by Jason and Billy.
They have a daughter, and Spike. Their daughter is Zephyr Skullovitch. she's sixteen, and she and Spike do get taught Eltaran tradition, as much as possible, on earth. Zephyr's got the Z name as she resembles Zelya more in a lot more ways. Spike's got more human dna here, but his sister's blue as a blueberry. Zephyr is best described as 'prickly' or 'grumpy' and the only person who gets her to smile is her brother. The pink ranger tries, but keeps striking out. Zelya wants to be an interdimensional diplomat, and travel universe to universe and see everything. She wants to see everything, know everything, experience everything. Intense, bull headed, one track minded, and has an almost destructive lack of self worth and imposter syndrome. almost. She might not believe in herself but her brother and her parents do. And the pink ranger chick. possibly. Zephyr is not associated with a color.
Matthew Cook;
Matt dives head first into the villain persona, and is happily doing so. He's thriving. Until he's forced into an ultimatum; save Bulk and Skull from certain death by the hands of Goldar, or vanquish the Solar Rangers. Against his better judgment, he saves Bulk and Skull. Skull, unfortunately for timing wise, had said he'd kiss whoever saved their lives minutes before Matt saved them. He's a man of his word, but he also punched him in the mouth immediately after. Matt's confused as hell. So instead of chasing after Kim, begins chasing after Skull because what was THAT. This leads to a very weird redemption arc because Matt has realized 2 things; he likes being kissed by Skull and he does not want Skull mad at him anymore. Cut to fifteen years later; they've got a kid of their own and no actual idea how they got there really. But, they're happy, don't hate each other's guts, their kid's thriving, it's all good. The entire empire of evil absolutely hates them though and Matt somehow managed to get himself on the shit list of Thor. As long as he doesn't go out while it's thunderstorming he should be fine.
Their son is ten, his name is Jude Cook. Jude is one of the weirdly luckiest kids alive. He's survived an insane amount of attempts on his life, falls, kidnappings, and things he should otherwise not survive. His parents have stopped asking how. Loki helped give them a son, which is partly why Thor's pissed, so they've at this point accepted demigod baby is just gonna do what a demigod baby do. It's probably for the best. Spike's his older brother, and is training with Loki to be some sort of spirit of shapeshifting mischief. They both love causing mild trouble. Like Skull, Jude's got a fear of flying which makes things a little interesting. Skull's got his sons and his partner on a very very strict promise; if the shenanigans could cause an enemy of something power, walk away. Walk far away. Neptune exists. We don't want to get on the bad side of Neptune.
in a tangential version, Billy coparents with the two, and studies demigod ten year old, and deals with the Norse gods being in his business. At the very least nobody's been sucked into Ares' prison jar, so that's good.
*Bonus Poly of Billy Cranston, Matt Cook, and Eugene Skullovitch has all above children mentioned. They live in a large house, Eugene's a famous rockstar and restaurant chain owner, and they actually use every room in said house. In this version they met via Matt asking the only person he knew with experience in bdsm for some help with his newly realized kinks; Skull's payment was pizza nights and then Billy got dragged in because he was certain Matt was abusing Skull, but realized it was fine, actually. And fun.
Au Grandchildren:
Prince Olympius;
Eugene and Bulk got dragged to hell, once, and found a little child demon who needed protection as much as they themselves did. The two survived long enough in the dimension with the kid to be rescued by Olympius and Spike. Olympius and Spike, though having known each other when they were younger, reconnected over this. Olympius named the kid Petrichor, and he was later given the nickname Pepper by the mystic red ranger Nick. Pepper is a fifteen year old power ranger, though he got his morpher when he was thirteen. His team is a team of nonhumans who all have unusual rare colors, with the exception of their sixth ranger, Deena, who is a human and a white ranger. Although Pepper is a demon that water can hurt, he is an aquaphile. He loves the ocean, he loves water planets, he loves the rain, and one day wants to study marine biology. Chipper, smart, but generally as easy going as Spike is. He is the crown prince, but knows he’s only in the position because he was adopted into it, and tries very hard to be a good prince. Be diplomatic, be strategic, have all the answers. One day he’s going to be depended on, and he needs to perfect it now. Olympius has cautioned him that even he hasn’t figured it all out, so Pepper’s going to be fine in that eventuality. Just so long as he tries, and he does. Pepper is the indigo ranger.
Mia Watanabe;
So that summer was…eventful. Skull got a grandson and a daughter in law in one fell swoop. He also moved to Panorama City because daughter in law was also a pink ranger and no, he’s not stupid. Rangers should stick to their cities with their teams. Plus Ji was making a stink and they found it easier to just smooth ruffled feathers than deal with him. Spike and Mia have one daughter. Ai Skullovitch lives with Skull while Mia and Spike are at school. She’s eight years old, and Skull loves her. Spike and Mia also dote on their daughter. The kid happens to be taste blind like Mia and feeding her and having her help in the kitchen’s always eventful. While Ji doesn’t spend much time with Ai he does give her presents and training. Neither Mia nor Spike want Ai to be a power ranger. At least. Not a Samurai Ranger, so things from Ji tend to get screened to make sure training and gifts are appropriate. Skull kinda likes being a grandpa.
Lauren Shiba;
Spike and Lauren literally had to go into hiding, and are currently holed up under assumed names with their kid. The little cabin property on the edge of a small tourist ski town in Idaho never came in so much handy for Skull. He was able to help them, and they and the four year old are riding this out up there till the drama dies down. Lauren and Spike got very good at training together, and got very close. However life got in the way for a while. Lauren had taken some time from everything to do some soul searching and finding herself, and Spike was doing a music tour. Mica is not an accident, but he's not approved of at all by Ji and the rest. Skull, however, loves him, and loves his son, and is trying to help them so the kid doesn't have to live his entire life in hiding. Mica's got brown hair, but otherwise looks a lot like Skull and Spike, which is a good thing. "Sam" and "Isabelle" are making the best of it, and are planning on homeschool if things don't change soon. Or chancing moving to Angel Grove. Skull just wants them to be happy and safe, and at least he's not alone in that.

Anthro Mecha Universe in a nutshell because I am very far from having the first arc plotted out but I want to talk about it.
At some point Kaiju happen for some reason, probably science related. The first one to arrive is an eldritch abomination that creates portals, and a few of that flavour still occur, but most are either pollution-mutants, demons, angels, science-mutants or rogue AIs.
Everyone is anthropomorphic animals, except invertebrates, which fill the roles taken by regular non-anthropomorphic animals (with one exception that I'll get into later).
There's also a fascist government who are slowly invading and taking over independent regions, kinda like a more evil version of the NCR from New Vegas. They're called the New Argent Federation, and their president is Luther Blake (he/him, 65, saltwater crocodile). He has an underling who is basically a cross between Darth Vader, the Auditor from Brigador, and Pyro from TF2, piloting a mech that looks a bit like Necrozma.
Mech pilots are usually sorted into teams, kinda inspired by Sonic. Each team has a minimum of three pilots, though the number of mechs can be lower since some require multiple pilots (which is taken to extremes by Ironclad, a gigantic warship-themed mech piloted by 50 people). Mechs have different classes, but I won't be talking about them in this post because I can't be bothered.
The main team is Burst Team, composed of people who lack formal training, but still know how to do mech stuff mostly. The members are Stella Fawkes (she/her, 24, goblin shark), pilot of the Stygia, which is made partially out of old boats, submarines and diving mechs; Jim Autumn (he/him, 22, potoo), pilot of the Crimson Star, which he inherited from his mother after she retired; and Sue Simons (she/they, 23, moray eel), pilot of a mech I haven't named yet, which is designed for kaiju research but has had a giant rifle haphazardly bolted to the front.
Their rivals are Rage Team, who are all nepo-babies who pilot advanced mechs equipped with powerful but impractical weapons. The members are Harry Valero (he/him, 23, ocelot), pilot of the Valero Veloce MKIII Concept, an experimental high-speed mech; Miranda Jensen (she/her, 26, fox), pilot of the Starlet, a more humanoid mech with giant wings; and Brad Octavius (he/him, 25, rhinoceros), pilot of a mech I haven't named yet, which is a combat mech using parts from sports mechs.
Survivor Team are like. Pilots who were injured in the course of being a pilot, but kept doing it regardless. While I won't list all their members (because it would take too long and also the roster is far from complete), I do want to highlight Greg Phoenix (he/him, 53, kiwi), whose wife died during battle with a particularly powerful kaiju; he used parts of her mech to upgrade his own one, and named the result "Barbara" in memory of her. Also one of the characters is a Frogfish called Cora Reeve.
Terror Team are the big scary elite dudes, who are also big celebrities, with merch and sponsorships and stuff.
Advance Team are a bunch of giant neeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrds! Their mechs are more experimental (e.g a perfectly-spherical design with stretchy limbs so it can travel far distances quicker, and the body of a dead kaiju that's piloted by an electric eel who uses his natural electricity to puppet it).
Unity Team are just like a vague concept I have at the moment, but basically they have seven members in colour-coded mechs that can fuse together into a larger robot because Power Rangers (and also like. Sentai and Voltron and stuff) pastiche.
Outlier Team are the most interesting, as their members are all from species who aren't standard anthropomorphic animals, including a dimensionally-displaced human, a genetically-modified crab with full sapience and an inexplicable New York accent, an alien from a eusocial species with hundreds of genders, and an ancient robot that resembles an opabinia.
The Kaiju incident is called "The Intrusion", and started with an interdimensional worm monster emerging through a portal, which caused pollutive chemicals to become a powerful mutagen, alerted the setting's equivalents of Heaven and Hell, caused bioengineered creatures to mutate and escape from a lab that's still producing them, and made all the AIs in charge of various facilities go rogue. The results are Pollution (mutated invertebrates mostly, though sapient beings can also become Pollution Kaiju with prolonged exposure to the mutagen or if they eat the flesh of one), Dimensional (Kaiju from other dimensions or even between dimensions, with impossibly alien appearances and, if this ends up being a webcomic or whatever, different artstyles/mediums), Demonic (self-explanatory; in my document about all the characters, I describe them as having "Lots of flames, magma, mouths, leathery wings, pieces of brutalist architecture, masses of flesh, insect limbs, dangling chains, horns"), Angelic (again, self-explanatory; in my document about all the characters, I describe them as having "Lots of clouds, crystals, eyes, feathery wings, pieces of gothic architecture, intricate stained-glass panels, sea slug tentacles, flowing cloth, halos"), Biotech (biomechanical, in a similar way to the Combine Synths from Half-Life 2), and AI (literally just artificial intelligences that were originally in charge of facilities and stuff, but went rogue during The Intrusion and have built themselves bodies) Kaiju.
There's an ancient civilisation of prehistoric vertebrates who had robots based on prehistoric invertebrates (which also filled the roles of animals), as well as "walking buildings" that are essentially early mechs, consisting of Greco-Roman buildings held up by large, articulated statues.

In one of the other Maverick episodes, he portrayed Steve Corbett, a character based on Bogart's in Casablanca. That episode, "Escape to Tampico," used the set from the original film, this time as a Mexican saloon where Bret Maverick (James Garner) arrives to hunt down Mohr's character for an earlier murder.
Mohr also guest-starred on Crossroads, The DuPont Show with June Allyson, Harrigan and Son, The Barbara Stanwyck Show, It's Always Jan, Perry Mason, 77 Sunset Strip, Hawaiian Eye, Lost in Space, Ripcord and many other television series of the era, especially those being produced by Warner Bros. His repeated line was, "Treatment, Ricky. Treatment".
In 1954–1955, he starred as Christopher Storm in 41 episodes of the third season of Foreign Intrigue, produced in Stockholm for American distribution. During several episodes of Foreign Intrigue, but most noticeably in "The Confidence Game" and "The Playful Prince", he can be heard playing on the piano his own musical composition, "The Frontier Theme", so called because Christopher Storm was the owner of the Hotel Frontier in Vienna. Foreign Intrigue was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1954 under the category "Best Mystery, Action or Adventure Program" and again in 1955 under the category "Best Mystery or Intrigue Series".
Mohr made four guest appearances on Perry Mason (1961–66). In his first appearance, he played Joe Medici in "The Case of the Unwelcome Bride". In 1963, he played murder victim Austin Lloyd in "The Case of the Elusive Element". In 1964, he played the murderer, Alan Durfee, in "The Case of a Place Called Midnight". On this day:
HUMAN LIGHTNING RODS
On May 20, 1946, in Kenton, Ohio, Charles Brown was struck by lightning for the tenth time while at the public library checking out a book. Brown is one of a handful of individuals known as human lightning rods.
Roy Cleveland Sullivan, a forest ranger from Waynesboro, Virginia, was hit seven times over thirty-six years. In 1942, while he on duty in a fire lookout tower, a lightning strike removed his toenail. In 1969, lightning scorched his eyebrows and knocked him unconscious. The 1970 hit, in his own yard, burned his shoulder. In 1972 and 1973, lightning set fire to his hair. He began to carry a container of water around after the first incident, and he used it to put himself out after the second incident, which also tossed him from his vehicle and knocked a shoe off. In 1976, a campground lightning strike injured his ankle. Hit while fishing in 1977, he was hospitalized for burns to his chest and stomach. His charred ranger hats are displayed in the Guinness World Record exhibit halls.
Carl Mize, affectionately known as Sparky, has been hit four times. Mize was first struck in 1978 when he was a bull rider in the rodeo circuit; he grabbed the handle of his pickup just as it was hit by lightning. In 1996, Mize explains, lightning "hit the tree and went over into a street light pole and knocked the top of it and followed that cable around to where I was working on it.... It went through my arm and then back out of my chest." In 1999 he was holding onto a swing chain when struck. In 2005, lightning blew a hole in the bottom of his shoe. "The guy that rides in the truck with me, he wants hazardous duty pay now," Mize said.

i dont know what i originally followed you for but idc. i would love to know who/what sidestep and fh are. it seems super cool and you really like it so i'd love to know!!! the art you rb and tag it with are always bangers so i'm def interested
fallen hero is so so fucking good. i convinced one of my work/housemates from my archaeo field school to play it and she instantly became obsessed, it is amazing
sidestep is the main/playable character in fallen hero (rebirth & retribution) which is a video game choice of games interactive fiction smart choose your own adventure book. sidestep was a hero/vigilante 7 years ago, but then an incident caused their "death" - only they didn't die, and now they are back with a vengeance, this time as a villain
the first game follows sidestep finishing their preparations for their villain debut, and the second game follows the first year or so post villain debut
oh also, when they were working as a hero they were working with the Los diablos rangers - most noticeable charge, aka ortega. ortega has believed sidestep to be dead for the last seven years and sidestep has made no efforts to contact them - but their paths happen to cross so sidestep is also dealing with this ghost from their past, and being dragged back into the rangers circle, just as they are getting ready for their villain debut
also also. this is a relationship game - friendship, romance, or rivalry, your choice. there are two romance options in the first game (and ortega is one of them) which carry over into the second game that adds three more romance options
these games are so so good, literally everyone who plays them becomes obsessed you have got to try them out

About 37 seconds later a ranger RAMMED through blockade, made arrest at gun point. Several arrests were made during the incident, including the legal observer as activists blocked traffic into Burning Man festival on the event’s first day open to the general public. The group blocked a main thoroughfare using a trailer, lock-ons, and banners with the words “BURNERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!”, “ABOLISH CAPITALISM”, and “GENERAL STRIKE FOR CLIMATE”.
Group says the blockade’s purpose is to draw attention to capitalism’s inability to address climate and ecological breakdown along with protesting against the popularization of Burning Man among affluent people who do not live the stated values of Burning Man, resulting in the commodification of the event. Tribal ranger draws weapon on climate activists blocking road to Burning Man; conduct under review
A coalition of activists called Seven Circles based in New York took credit for the disruption and told SFGATE in a statement it had a set of demands for the leadership of Burning Man.
Seven Circles said the purpose of the protest was “to draw attention to capitalism’s inability to address climate and ecological breakdown” and included three demands, including banning the use of private jets and single-use plastics at Burning Man and for the organization’s leaders to “admit that infinite growth is incompatible with sustaining the Earth’s systems.”

sits.
i usually never shut up about au stuff so been thinking about this au in particular- happy sidestep days au.
(its a old au of mine back in 2020s? cant remember) that i brought back and just revisit mostly based off what i learnt of.
the basic original summary of this au is 'what if sidestep never fell, what if themmy never died that way, and what if heartbreak incident never happened, and what if sidestep's not a regene'
but i had been considering having some of the stuff from the games into it, so its gonna be depend on how i can. integrate it with canon facts into a AU setting. i might change stuff by the time the series is ever over. wheezes.
anyway this au aka 2023 version is well,
Anita had never fell from the window, and Themmy never died from how they did- and as the result, Anita continued to be Sidestep and Themmy is alive and continues to be Anathema.
The current time is the same exact time as canon, so seven years later, Anita went ahead and changed their suit once they're more confident in their own persona and their own hero.
Unlike canon neets, Neets finally confess to Jules earlier and not a coward and as a result, these two are disgustingly cute together for the next seven years, featuring Themmy having to be the third wheel and audience who voiced 'this is fucking suck but good for you two through.'
During these years, Themmy and Neets gotten closer enough to consider each other queerplatonic partners
Other than that, it's just your everyday hero life, really, that's it.
Oh! In this AU, Anita still mentor Herald when he joined, and before him- Argent joined and she got to be mentored by Themmy!!!
Which is why Chen is currently under Jules' wing in passing down the rank of the Marshal. (Anita turned it down, and says 'Chen is the best in our team when it comes to leadership.' and Chen had to take a moment to realize Anita wasn't being a ass and actually geninue believing in him. This may or may not had bloom their friendship earlier.)
Also because Anita and Julia are dating together in this AU, they're still dealing with tabolds are like, gasp, Is Charge dating someone in public? and Wait, but Sidestep and Charge were very close are they? Is she cheating on Sidestep for someone!?
^ Themmy showing all of these to Neets and going 'oh my fucking god.' while Themmy is wheezing so loud.
Yes, these two managed to keep their relationship private from public eye. Doesn't stop the Rangers, old and new, to witness them being soft bitches in the breakroom.
Yes, that meant Herald had no idea until he joined and then his world shookth when he learnt his teacher is dating their partner in crime. Argent, on the other hand, goes 'lmao i figured it out, they kept heart eyeing each other in the news so-'
Yes. It meant there's pictures. of them on the fridge and on top of that fridge is a jar full of coins with a label that says 'Walk in and you Find yourself witnessing Julita Being Gayasses' (wrote by themmy, 'you two keep being cute and kissy!' in jest)
Half of the coins are from Chen.
Actually, not just Chen but also Themmy, the curse of being their bestie.
Almost everyone except Argent had throw coins in.
No, Argent is too smart and she just knew and never failed to walk in.
Themmy insisted she reveal her secrets. she just laughs and goes 'nope <3'
and now with retri spoilers related
I still hadn't decide on Anita's background- it's either keeping Regene background, or the other ideas (yes im looking at you HG) but like I said, this part will be changed depend on how it went in canon.
If they were regene, it would be after they confessed to Julia and revealed themself to her, and it was a moment of waiting for her to walk out or not. She never did. "You're always Anita to me."
And if they're actually a lost sibling of HG, then Anita would've finally admit "It's that's why you had been so protective of me????? what the fuck jules!!! im happy being here! being with you! and everyone!!!"
so uhhhhh
other than all that, i just like drawing themmy and sidestep interactions which is why i use this AU just to draw/write about them, and perhaps chargestep being softies while being asses sO-
#lori ramblings 2023#myaus | happy sidestep days#idk if i should it to there so im. gonna not to MDGMDSGMS IM EMBARRASSING#through i have to tag it as#fhr au#so ppl know its just a AU with a lot of headcanon heavy!!!
