❓I had to learn how to get up the emoji menu for this ask....

This one was the first to come to mind, but if someone else sends one in, I also have a second one, because I was stuck between the two for a minute.

Anyway, if you read r/trueoffmychest, you might've been confused by Max and Richie's living situation, and this is the story that was for that.

TW for abuse stuff, domestic and sexual.

Max left his bedroom to get some water. Another nightmare staring his mom and some weird fuckin things that he couldn’t name the origins of. 

It helped to get something to drink. Get out of his room. Get out of his head. 

When he got downstairs, the living room light was already on. That was weird. Even when his dad stayed up to these hours, it was just the TV that’d stay on. 

He detoured a bit to turn the light off. That was until he saw a figure. 

“Intruder!” Max yelled, lurching for an attack, but the ‘intruder’ showed his face. “Mark Chasity? What are you doing here?” 

“I am certainly not robbing you, I promise,” He said. His voice was shaky. “And you won’t have to worry about seeing me ever again, so-” He stopped speaking, his voice cracking. “M-My apologies.”

“Whoa, dude,” Max said, guiding him to the couch he was already standing near. “Are you good?”

“No,” He said. “But that, that’s none of your concern.”

“Uh, there’s a crying middle-age man in my house. I think it is my concern. What are you doing here anyway?”

“I…” Mark looked down at his knees. “I don’t think you want to know much about your father’s personal life.” Max huffed a small, sad laugh.

“Are you kidding?” He said, “Not that I would prefer he overshared, but it’d be nice to know some shit! I don’t even know where he works.” He looked down too. “It’s like living with a stranger.” He said that last part quietly. 

“Sadly, that doesn’t surprise me,” Mark remarked. “I… doubt you know anything about his love life either then.” Max shrugged. 

“Just that he’ll kick me out during the day if he’s having a woman over.” Mark paled. “Why? He sleep with your wife or something?”

“Or something, I suppose,” Mark muttered. “You see, uh. Your father and I have been… meeting up for quite some time. To uh. Treat me like one of those women, I suppose.” He sounded so ashamed, probably glad he couldn’t see the look on Max’s face.

Not that it was shameful or disgusted, no. It was anger. 

“Excuse me?” Max exclaimed before putting his voice back down. “That asshold has called me a fucking fag and a queer, meanwhile he’s out sucking salami?”

“Oh, your father would never do that,” Mark gritted. “No, your father, um. I’m not sure how to phrase this to you. He’s not a very giving person,” He said, cringing. “In that way. Serviceable.” Max scoffed.

“Downright disrespectful,” He said, crossing his arms. “It’s a two way street, dude!” 

“You… are reacting quite oddly to hearing about your father having gay… relations with a married man.” Max shrugged and sighed. 

“It’s like I said. Basically a stranger.” 

“I see,” Mark said. “I will still refrain from being crass,” He declared. Max bit back his snicker into just a huff of laughter from his nose. “He and I have been doing this for months now. And it took me far too long that he is an awful man, and I… I may deserve better. Which is saying something considering I’m betraying my faith for all of this.”

“Augh, fuck that shit anyway,” Max said. “Dude, giving up faith to be happy is the best thing you can do for yourself.”

“I suppose,” Mark muttered, not quite agreeing. “Either way, tonight he said some rather rude things, about me and my family, and women as a whole, which as a father of four daughters, I find quite appalling!” He told passionately. He froze. “And then he hurt me. Well, not exactly then. Throughout the night, he was just disrespecting my body and my wishes, but. This is the worst it’s been.”

“Yeah,” Max said. He huffed another laugh, from his mouth this time. He lifted his t-shirt, showing the dark bruising on his ribs. “Got yourself one of these, huh?” He asked, as if it was funny. As if it were so normal that it was just something that everyone would go through, that everyone went through, that everyone knew the feeling of. 

Mark stared with wide eyes. 

“Max, did your… did your father do that to you?” He asked. Max put his shirt down.

“Uh. Yeah.”

“Why?” Max shrugged.

“Y’know, I don’t remember for this one. Probably was walking around the house with my shoes on again,” He laughed. He stopped when he saw Mark’s pained expression. 

“Max, you. You need to leave this house. Your father is dangerous,” He said. “You deserve better than this.” Max laughed again, weak and disbelieving. 

“Nah, man,” He said. “I’m a fuckin asshole. I don’t deserve shit. I mean this—” He motioned to his torso, where the bruise was “—sure, I deserve that, but. Not much else. I’m right were I deserve.”

“Max,” Mark said, clutching Max’s arms gently, in case he’d been hurt there too. “If you think I deserve better, a man who for all you know is cheating on his wife and having sex with another man, then you definitely deserve better.” He removed his hands from Max’s arms. “And I’m willing to bet the only reason you’re so awful is because of your father. He’s… He’s the worst man I’ve ever met. And I’ve met many, many bad men.” Max swallowed. 

“I,” His voice cracked. “I gotta graduate first, dude,” He said. “Dad’d never let me leave without graduating.”

“Alright then,” Mark said. Max let out a sigh of relief, thinking he’d given up on this whole thing. “After you graduate. You leave.” 

“I have nowhere to go—”

“You do now, yes,” He said. “I have this little house on the other side of town. It’s just a simple two bedroom, one bath— it’s nothing special. But I own it, so there’s no rent or mortgage. It’s just utilities, and I can pay for that for the first couple months while you get on your feet.”

“I can’t possibly—”

“All of my kids did the same,” Mark said. “They moved there to gain their independence, get through college. Then they’d find their own place… somewhere else. I-I’m sure Gracey will be staying home for a few years. You can stay there. Max, I insist that you stay there. Please.”

“Mark,” Max said. “I’m not your kid.”

“Well,” Mark said. “You certainly deserve a better father than the one you have.” He swallowed. “I’ll get you a copy of the key. You can visit, see if you like the place, I suppose. You can go there to get away from here if you’d like. I’ll have Gracey deliver it to you. And if you decide you’re sure you don’t want to live there after you graduate, then fine. I’ll… I’ll stand down.”

Max stared at Mark for a moment, taking in how genuine and worried he looked. 

“Okay,” He croaked.

There was a pause.

“Augh, wait, you and my dad have been boning?! Gross, I used to like your daughter!” 

“Yes, imagine my surprise when I learned that as well,” Mark said with a shaky laugh. “I’ve really got to go though. And you should too. I’m sure you’ve got something going on tomorrow.” He did. Mark stood up. “Sleep well, Max,” He said before quietly leaving out the front door. Max locked it behind him. 

He watched from the window Mark pulling out of their driveway and driving away until his car was out of sight. He swallowed and headed back to his bedroom.

Hi!! Firstly, I LOVE your Tangled AU, so glad to see Tails getting more focus in AU’s. I wondering: Do you have any general Tails related headcannons?

Hiya! 💛✨ Thank you so, so much! And ooo this is such a fun question. Tbh, I have too many, I could write an essay! This account isn’t as popular as my au blog since I’m pretty inactive on it so probably only like 3 people will see this… but I hope those hypothetical 3 people enjoy my inevitable waffle and chaos! <3

Will also use this opportunity to hype up some friends and people who’s work I admire!!!

A few of my favourite Tails Headcannons! :

- I love the idea that him and Sonic were 4 and 11 when they first met.

- Sonic will always be Tails’ big brother first and foremost… however, as Aosth Tails put it: “You’re my mom, you’re my dad and you’re my picket fence!”. Sonic having accidentally become the closest thing Tails has to a parental figure has a hold on my heart and I love how writers like @chaoxfix and my homie @myyla-x portray this in their fics!

- After having first met (and honestly even a few years in) if Sonic ever had to leave Tails alone for a while for whatever reason, maybe to protect him from a particular battle, Tails would deal with hardcore abandonment issues. Poor lil guy would fear Sonic wouldn’t come back, that he didn’t want him around anymore (which is made 10 times worse if you headcannon he was abandoned by his parents). Lil guy wouldn’t know what to do with himself <\3

- Tails reminds Shadow of Maria. Probably my favourite Tails headcannon! Though I guess it’s more of a Shadow headcannon… am I using this as an excuse to talk about it? More likely then you’d think. But ahh, those blue eyes, yellowish fur, sweet gentle childlike wonder, love of life and learning + Ian flynn has confirmed given her upbringing Maria was prob a bit of a science kid. Ah <3 Plus that brings the idea of Sonic and Tails’ dynamic reminding him of his with Maria’s and that makes me want to cry. I actually have a WIP fic about this headcannon but it’s been a wip for like a year… hopefully one day I’ll finish it cause I’m literally obsessed with the idea and want to see it through.

^ Also extra nostalgic about this headcannon cause my friendship with @sh-0-w-1-sh literally started cause they were looking for art ideas and I was like TAILS REMINDING SHADOW OF MARIA!!! And here we are almost a year later!

- For better or for worse he’s picked up a lot of his big bros traits. I’m talking puns, poses, that lil nose rub and foot tapping, occasional cockiness, being self sacrificial, the list goes on. Once he realises this or anyone else especially Sonic points it out, he’d probably be super embarrassed and deny it <3

Speaking of picking up habits…

- While he would definitely be scared by certain situations like this ( << the Starline issue 35 and 36 situation being a good example with other people being at risk and him not really understanding the situation or his role in it ) I think Tails would be pretty desensitised to being kidnapped or hostage situations at this point. He’d probably just find it an inconvenience more then anything or be entertained by the hypothetical villains incompetence. Me and @myyla-x had a conversation about this idea once and… it’s been like 6 months and we’re still talking about it. One day that’ll make sense. We got a lil carried away. Just a lil. Anyway someone get this kid therapy. <3

- An already pretty popular one but I felt the need to mention it cause I relate, but he gets so sucked into projects and his inventions that hours and hours can go by and he just zones out and forgot to eat… well, anything but mints at least.

- Tails is a theatre kid. :D Is this self projection? … maybe. If nobody else gets me @guiltypandas gets me <3 :,)

- I think Tails would be in denial if Sonic died. As smart and logical as that little guy is, given how Sonic has beat the unbeatable, has come back before and seems invisible… yeah. <\3 I think he’d always hold onto the hope that it would only be a matter of time until Sonic comes back… even if this time that wouldn’t be the case… my friend @whitecatindisguise actually wrote an amazing fic about this when we talked about the idea called He’s (Not) Coming Back (which if you haven’t already you should totally check out cause it’s amazing! And a heart breaking! The best kinda fic :,) )

- I think Tails has a heart of gold…but I also think depending on certain circumstances if he hadn’t have met Sonic he could have gone down a much darker path (which I guess ended up being somewhat proven with Nine in Sonic Prime!). Me and @casperangel have screamed about this too many times then I can count and it haunts me.

- Tails is a sweetie, a cutey patooty, like an adorable little house cat… but similarly (and yet again as proven thanks to Prime!) Tails definitely has a feral side. Especially if he hasn’t gotten enough sleep or gets his mints confiscated. @dunkinbublin and @studioboner ‘s accounts are absolute goldmines when it comes to Tails multitasking being an adorable lil guy and a feral lil menace!

- Tails and Tangle have sibling energy! I mean, Tails is basically everyone’s adopted little brother, Knuckles and Amy especially, but I think him and Tangles dynamic isn’t talked about enough and I’m super glad we’ve had some sweet moments with them in the comics! @pocketscribbs is feeding the Tails and Tangle nation fr <3

Okay so the leah fic was gonna be a multichapter slow burn, next door neighbours to lovers vibe, but i haven't written anything on it since like earlier this year.

not sure tbh! i do find writing dialogue easy but it also leads to my downfall sometimes which i'll explain in the next question

inner monologues, because they jump around too much and i eventually stray from the original thought. or anything thats not closely tied to a character ... i'm really strong with character driver things but if you hand me a plot, i'm gonna struggle (which may be why the r&j au is failing LMAO) and how i said with dialogue, it ends up being dry and makes the scene move a little too fast. i'm really bad at slowing down scenes 😭

my romeo and juliet au because its the most ambitious thing i ever tried to accomplish. i really want to get back to it because i'm still so intrigued by the idea of it and i was shocked i wrote 10k for the first chapter but it felt like it was being squeezed out of me... i'll do my best to get back to writing i've had insane weiters block (no thanks to school 🙄)

Figured I should make a pinned post so people know what I'm about and whatnot

I'm an aspiring author and maybe game developer if I can ever get through all the godot engine tutorials (and learn how to make good pixel art). She/Her, not a minor. I'll go by pretty much any variation of my username (Red, Ready, Panda, etc. whatever floats your boat)

I mostly just dump whatever random posts I like in this blog. I tend to go through fandom phases so expect to see a ton of posts about one thing followed by radio silence (it's not that I stopped liking that thing---I just have fairly short brainrot turnover) I also have a sideblog, @readydrone, just for murder drones content, but it's fairly inactive as of late (see aformentioned brainrot turnover)

Some media I'm very normal about are:

In terms of writing, some genres and tropes I like are:

fantasy (easy to read, also fairly easy to write given my style)

science fiction (idk I guess at the end of the day I just think robots and aliens are cooler than elves and dwarves)

drama (ooey-gooey character drama is my real specialty, fantasy and scifi are just flavors of the world tbh)

really great characters and character interactions

romance? sometimes? (bonus points if it's dual POV)

non-human characters (I just think they're neat)

I have too many WIP stories to list here, but I'll give a brief synopsis of some of the ones that are more important to me/relevant (since I tend to jump around which WIP stories I'm working on)

Fantasy drama about a human and a siren starting a band:

The human can speak to the ocean and plays the lute

The siren, due to an injury, can't talk or sing underwater and is fascinated by life on land

The first draft isn't finished yet

Dual POV but not a romance

Science fiction fantasy drama about a cyborg and a flower nymph becoming bestiiiiiies (and maybe more 😳):

My oldest "finished" story. First draft is ~not very good~ so on and off I'm working on a rewrite to overhaul major story elements and prose

A monster romance (yeah this one's for the tumblr crowd) about a human volunteering for a marriage proposal from a distant kingdom to escape a toxic relationship:

This story is kind of a mess due to the heavy themes but I am actively writing it for whatever that's worth

Maybe if I wrangle it into a reasonable shape I'll put this on one wattpad idk it's giving wattpad

2 years anniversary and the future of this blog 🤍

it feels like just a few months ago when i had this random idea to create this blog and post my silly writing here. in all honesty, i almost thought this is my first anniversary on here, but then i remembered that taegularities has been here for two !!! damn years. a wild ride, truly.

from making and losing friends, watching people join the community or become inactive, having incredibly happy and fun versus genuinely sad and horrible moments on here... i think i’ve experienced it all in just those two years. i never, never thought my blog could be such a source of comfort for me (and hopefully, for you guys) or grow like that (and we're somewhat close to another milestone!), but... all y’all’s kindness is so much more than i deserve.

so thank you for making those two years memorable. 🤍

as for the future of this blog – ngl, i often think that might be my last year on tumblr, or that i might archive taegularities once cmi is over. but tbh, i can’t say anything for sure yet – this place is filled with surprises, and so is my mind lol bc i keep getting new ideas. for now, i just wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart. oh, and also! i want to update you guys on 2023’s wips!

Take it from a strudel cafe member who’s been around since the deviantart days: the site and species isn’t worth joining atm unless you’re incredibly motivated to make art/progress things on your own. Site events are repetitive, grindy and with lackluster rewards, there is only one really “active” admin and a bunch of community volunteers who do nothing to moderate in the discord and just get free MYO slots. Loppy refuses to consider hiring more help of the professional variety and it is killing the staff folks that are still around very slowly. The Patreon got tweaked a while back to be less unique in terms of site goodies you get and is absolutely not worth it for any tier outside of whatever gets you into their discord to peek at possible WIPs/previews of upcoming stuff.

If you’re not in the public species discord, the site looks incredibly dead and it sucks to see - the forums are inactive, there’s no general announcements and only monthly/“big” ones, and the site Q&A which users get directed to to answer questions has so many unanswered ones, they cherry pick what to answer if they do at all and it’s a big fall from grace tbh. Loppy, love them but they’re focused on making merch and things to sell in their store and personal patreon and while SC has always been a “passion project”, it’s only important if they need to make a quick buck and can spit out adopts or customs even after claiming time and time again they’re done making stuff for other people.

I think people are starting to realize there’s not really long left because at least on site, the trade/sale tab for designs on the masterlist and the flea market both have been really busy lately, seeing a lot of long-time users getting rid of designs and items and honestly? Godspeed, I wish things would go differently but I’ve seen how Loppy responds to any sort of critique or criticism and it’s not good, there’s a “suggestion box” that never gets answered or publicly addressed unless someone is being an ass to the mods/admins, so there’s no chance of discussion or change the way things are currently.

Well, let's see:

Use the queue if you aren't already. Put anything writing related in there, especially WIP promos or book announcements. They'll space the posts out and you won't have to worry about the blog being inactive if you're busy, something happens, etc

Be confident in your messages. Worry less about what you think people want to see and what you would want to see if you were looking at this blog from the outside. I know Tumblr can feel like yelling into a void. Keep yelling, the light will turn on eventually.

Polls. People love polls. I can't think of any specific topics rn but anything writing related is good

Follower of the week/month promos, maybe?

Songs. Ask followers or friends for suggestions then post them so people can take inspiration, add them to playlists (which they can link in reblogs), etc

Let people suggest prompts maybe? Images, text, etc

Have people send in suggestions for media to refill the creative well. Maybe have a theme week every now and then, like once a month or every two months, where people can drop suggestions in the ask box and you can post them all together.

Reference posts about things related to writing: history, mythology, clothing, how to use other social media

Memes will always be enjoyed, even if they're just an occasional reblog of a TikTok video

I would suggest more positivity posts but I try to make those and they can be hard. Feels like it's been said all before, y'know?

Talk about what you like about writing, what stories you enjoy. Live blog things, create mood boards, whatever. The mods of the blog are part of the community too, and if you're wanting people to engage and talk to each other, then getting on a topic everyone likes is a good way to do it

It really does depend on what you're wanting this blog to be.

Tbh the best advice I can give is to see what kind of posts get activity and see what those have in common. Is it something you said or did? Is it the content in them? Were they all on a similar theme? Did someone reblog them from you?

I honestly have no idea how helpful any of this is. I hope it doesn't come off too harsh at times, please forgive me if it does. I like this blog and I want to see it thrive

RRRRAAHHHHH so long story short ive been quite inactive bc of work 😔 i unfortunately am a slave to capitalism and i dont anticipate my workload clearing up until at least november (my job is a little bit politically tied and if you know about the current state of US politics then 🫠)

that being said! i do still have wips and the ideas are still coming! i just don't know when i'll be able to get anything done! i do want to get back into being active here though and read all the fics i missed hehe. ive been a bit slacking on caratland in general tbh so i'm also playing a bit of catch up as i go, pls understand. i did manage to secure us tour tix tho wooooo so yeah basically that's it for life updates thank you guys if you have reblogged or left me any comments or anything in the past few months big mwahs !!

announcement! (read if u want, it’s ok if u dont lol)

hiii so i’m sure people have noticed how inactive i’ve been this whole year which i do apologise for! i’ve left numerous series and works on hold without even updating to let anyone know if they’re even coming. even though im unsure if anyone’s been looking forward to it lol still i haven’t said anything. i was even contemplating to randomly delete this account out of laziness but i knew id be writing again eventually. the only issue is that its not consistent but tbh that’s fine for me - writing isn’t supposed to be my job anyway

truthfully the only reason is because i haven’t been prioritising my writing or this blog at all which i think is reasonable since i have so many things going on in my life! but i made this announcement to say that i will be officially starting again but im sure when the academic year starts, ill be disappearing again 😭 i apologise in advance but yeah.

as for my wips, let’s see if i have enough motivation to write them. i’ll probably start writing smaller fics first and then ease back into it. i have something planned since i’ve been listening to my summer playlist again and that always brings my imagination up lol
