Four months ago I started a smutty fic dubbed All In The Name Of Science. At the time I was firmly in the fluff-smut camp and hated putting my adored characters through anything more than a brief bout of sadness. I always loved to read angst but didn't have the patience myself to slog through something difficult so we could arrive at a happy place again.
I've been busy loudly spreading my smut sprinkles to anyone who will listen and in the process of sharing many conversations (and snippets) with two angst QUEENS, writing angst has turned into something incredibly fun instead of a hard point to overcome! I now find it highly amusing to torture poor Lily and James so on that note...
All In The Name Of Science is coming out in December this year! It will be lovingly gifted to @kay-elle-cee for being the sweetest friend with unending support and encouragement for my angsty explorations and @wearingaberetinparis for inspiring this fic in the first place and setting a high angst bar that I will only be climbing halfway 😂 You are both gorgeous gems and I am lucky to call you my friends 😘 Enjoy the snippet...

'Tis the season to unpack some stuff about Christmas from a minority perspective:
Christmas is a Christian holiday. The fact that many celebrate it in an irreligious way (which is valid!) does not change its origins, connotations, symbolism, nor what it has historically meant for religious minorities.
The idea that Christmas is "secular" (read: neutral) is a product of Christian hegemony and the blindness of many in Christian countries to the permeation of Christianity as "default" culture.
When someone says they don't celebrate Christmas since it's a Christian holiday, it is not actually reassuring or helpful to say something along the lines of "oh well it's just a secular day of family & presents for everyone! So you can celebrate it too!"
Though the above statement is usually well-intentioned, it is often distressing to hear because it is untrue and is erasing our lived experiences. The reflexive effort to make Christmas universal is a cultural reverberation of the millennia-old evangelizing effort to make Christianity universal, and as such, can be very uncomfortable for religious minorities.

Watching the difference between the Twitter migration mentality vs. the Reddit migration mentality is fucking hilarious.
Like, when Twitter users started moving over here everyone was pulling out all the stops and bringing back old fandoms that they were into and basically firing rent lowering shots by being super cringey.
And then all of the sudden when the Reddit refugees start showing up we're like, "ah yes, pull up a log and gather around the dumpster fire. We'll teach you how to not get killed by people hunting down bots and carve out a little area for you guys to relax and get used to the site before we throw you into the deep end of this hellsite that we call home. Tomorrow is Let Papyrus say Fuck day so you can prepare for that if you want. You want some hot coco and a blanket?"
