I was holding myself back (desperately) from taking a look. In fact, I really wanted to stop looking at leaks and wait for one chapter normally but once my friend started spamming me and I saw the messages...

I'll put everything behind the cut for those who do not wish to be spoiled. Let's just say that I'm moved. Gege killed me.

Ok, so. Wow. I don't know where to start lmfao.

I was doubtful, anon. I was so, so doubtful how this story is progressing and what the hell was even happening. In fact, I also made peace with the fact that maybe whatever the hell was happening between Yuuji and Sukuna was never going to be addressed (because, oh well, who cares), Sukuna will kick the bucket and Yuuji won't even look at him, etc.

Only for Gege to deliver everything I was hoping for.

I don't know why some Sukuna fans are disappointed by this chapter. Yes, he is put in a pathetic position, despite practically carrying the narrative on his back and being this incredible villain but "looking cool" and "being powerful" had consequences in this manga (points at Gojo).

I, as a Sukuna fan, am not dissatisfied because I love him whether he's cool or pathetic. Tbh, I'm really happy! because I always believed that both of them were pretending and that it was about damn time the masks fell. It was about damn time these two saw each other for who they truly were.

And Yuuji accepted him!!! He said "lets try one more time", not "go rot in hell". He broke the cycle because he had grown to understand him. Not hate, but love. Accepting. Empathetic. Being everything no one in this narrative was able to give to Sukuna and therefore failed in reaching him.

Now, on the other hand, this was also the final proof I needed for my theory that these two were always twins (that the uncle/nephew through reincarnation was just a lie because, again, this never got mentioned again and is barely given relevance) but because Sukuna had rejected such fate, Yuuji didn't get born alongside him, but got born in a totally different era. By eating his twin- stealing Yuuji's fate- Sukuna got born in the wrong era (the era of peace) while Yuuji got thrown into the hell that is the modern world (and he has Sukuna to thank for that). They practically switched destinies (hence why Yuuji talks about matters of chance) and are both living at the wrong time, yet living at the wrong time had gotten them to this point, where both got what they wished for. Sukuna - strength. Yuuji - company.

The way the narrative did a very clever switch is also lowkey messing me up. Considering Sukuna is Yuuji (what Yuuji tells Sukuna), then their personalities are basically switched. They're true reflections of each other- Sukuna shows who Yuuji is, and Yuuji shows who Sukuna is. It's Sukuna who wanted company while Yuuji wanted strength.

This explains their contradicting behavior. How Sukuna understands love yet says it's worthless (but never elaborates) and also explains how Yuuji was incredibly strong in his youth, why he couldn't understand why his grandfather is choosing euthanasia (if he cared for others viewpoints, he would've known why) and why he's constantly shouting "it should be me" yet constantly sending people to death and not killing himself.

And yes, I know this isn't confirmed but atp it's pretty believable more so than the uncle/nephew thing.

Yuuji sees Sukuna in such a state and doesn't mock him, doesn't hate him and as someone who expected Yuuji to just straight up start laughing at him (because I know how severely Sukuna is hated by this fandom and this is what the fans were expecting) this was already a big win for me. An even bigger win was Yuuji telling him to try one more time. Hell, he says "even if no one accepts you, I will live on with you"! Hello!?!!??!!!!?!? That's practically pure love right there. Seeing him like this and yet still accepting him... that's actually really deep. If it was anyone else in Yuuji's shoes, they wouldn't act that way. (Hell, just look at this fandom itself. People love ideas, but close their eyes to the truth. They love power, but once that power is gone, they're quick to jump ship and escape or think "That can't be right".)

I love this chapter truly because I always had an inkling Sukuna was projecting this entire time, as was Yuuji. There's a reason, after all, why he escaped from him and looked for a "better vessel" and why Yuuji was putting on a front this entire time (about being caring and living for every single moment) while at the same time willing to eat a finger (like it was no biggie), eat his half-brothers and "want to die" yet not die.

And now the truth is exposed? Sukuna is Yuuji. Yuuji is Sukuna. They've inverted their destinies, fulfilled their dreams (Yuuji had come to connect with people finally, Sukuna had come to achieve incredible strength and not be a weakling), and finally managed to understand each other. Sukuna understood how Yuuji felt all this time and Yuuji had grown to understand how Sukuna felt all this time and why he's telling him this in the first place.

It's genuinely beautiful.

Even if the "we were twins" theory of mine is debunked, them not being twins just adds even more beauty to this. They didn't need to be born together to understand each other. Hell, if they were born like that, the fate which would've awaited them would probably be similar to what happened with Maki and Mai.

Yet they were different. They survived.

ATP everyone’s talked about how SxF and BD are similar or not, and I believe they’re not the same story at all. SxF’s humor comes from Loid and Yor trying desperately to hide their professions from each other and the world. This anime/manga hinges entirely on them not knowing what their significant other does. Because if they find out, it can’t be funny anymore. If they find out, they have to talk about the war, what they’re gonna do after it, what they are to each other and to Anya. They’re loyal to their organizations and bosses, Loid has to stop a war. He can’t set the world on fire that fast just for them, and it can’t be just funny anymore. 

In BD, everyone knows who’s doing what from episode 1. Rei & Kazuki are work partners, they don’t need to hide anything from each other. Miri’s also aware her dads are doing some shady, violent thing but because she’s four, she doesn’t question anything. They can betray the organization they work for and the only ones who’d suffer consequences is themselves and people they love.

Miri doesn’t need to worry about Kazuki and Rei staying together because they have no external obligation to keep her. They’re her dads simply because they want to be. Loid & Yor(well, more so Loid) have Anya at first because she’s integral to stopping a war. They see her as their daughter now but Loid didn’t look at her first like that. So the responsibility of keeping the family together falls to Anya, whereas Miri has no such pressure.

Kazuki and Rei don’t have anything to hide from each other about their lives, not in the way Loid and Yor do. So BD’s humor and plot comes primarily from the childcare aspect. Whereas for SxF it’s from the secrets, everyone has one. So just based on that foundation, the trajectories are very different. If you want just pure gag and fun with stakes, SxF is for you. If you want parenting hijinks and fluff with a queer family structure, BD is for you. I think both offer different things. I’ve seen lots of parents be into BD and finding it relatable, whereas SxF is abit more universal?

Anyways SxF and BD are both great. I have two cakes I’m not picking either or.

I think the craziest part of Touka hate is that if she was a man, ppl would praise her. Everyone who is a Touka anti seems to criticize her for being "bitchy" or "rude" when she's literally been put in a situation where she has to teach a guy who previously knew NOTHING abt ghoul life everything she knows in battle basically. She lost her brother and her parents (in different ways). After Hinami's mother, she takes on an older sibling role for Hinami. There was a LOT thrown at her all at once. Beyond that, the anime doesn't do her character justice. The manga much better explains her actions and intentions. Without Touka, we wouldn't have the Kaneki we know. She's essential to the story and anyone who thinks otherwise is shrimply wrong I fear!! I think another reason she gets shit on so much is because she "gets in the way" of HideKane even though those two aren't even canon 😭 You're just being misogynistic atp if you hate Touka for the sole reason that she gets in the way of a ship. If you have genuine reason to dislike her, please bring forward evidence and cite your sources but otherwise please just let her live. And don't act like if Touka was a man that she would still be hated because she wouldn't! Let Touka be mean sometimes, let her show tough love, let her exist!! Touka I love you 🫶🫶

ok. genuine thoughts. i’m upset that this was the route taken… i just think that it would’ve been more impactful had it actually BEEN satoru/hell even if it was sukuna’s mind playing tricks on him… bc it would’ve been instilling fear/doubt in sukuna’s mind which has never been done by anyone else before! also… i just wish it was JUST satoru himself. like i love yuuta and if it HAD to be anyone overtaking satoru’s body, i mean i’m glad it was yuuta and not kenjaku bc at least you know there’s no maliciousness involved! but it’s like… it’s so burdensome. to yuuta to have to do this and live w this fact + satoru said he doesn’t care what happens to his dead body but idk i just would think that gege would leave gojo’s body ALONE. gojo’s body should’ve never been on the playing field of “being used” i think he should’ve been the exception… having someone else inside THE gojo satoru’s body is just idk i don’t like that writing choice…

also. wouldn’t it have been more impactful if either:

1) sukuna AND yuji saw gojo and didn’t know what the hell was going on? sukuna feeling doubt at what he’s seeing and yuji feeling doubt/relief? because that’s HIS sensei. even if it was a mirage i think it would’ve been better than what we got if i’m being honest

2) and this is my own PERSONAL wish. i just wish that satoru would have chosen north and reached enlightenment/chose his students and pushed forward. bc that’s what makes satoru, SATORU. the youth. the future. his students. him losing the six eyes and not being “the strongest” anymore but it doesn’t matter bc his students got HIS back and he has THEIRS. hell even if he keeps his six eyes and just reaches enlightenment to GET stronger would be totally fine too! bc guess what… megumi is STILL inside sukuna. like i think gege fucking forgot about him -> in turn satoru doesn’t mention megumi… which is INSANITY bc he RAISED that boy. satoru raised megumi longer than toji did. like… idk.

there’s just personally so many things i’d do differently and it’s not even about “subverting expectations” i think gege should still service the story/characters without always caring about what Crazy Subversion he can do… bc then you end up LOSING the ideals/personality of the characters themselves!

With the last chapter of jjk coming up I've kinda been trying to avoid thinking too much about it because I'm expecting to be disappointed but sadly I'm still thinking about it. Have you seen the dream theory? I read it and some things, like Yuji's domain being connected to Kenjakus powers make sense to me, same to how we're following megumi around as if he's the mc and hes the only one "awake" even though I don't think if this was Yuji's work he'd do it for Megumis sake as that post implied. I'm actually very frustrated with how even at the end we don't focus at all on Yuji, Megumi gets closure for his dad, gojo, his sister, even hana, but we don't know anything about what Yuji is feeling???? Nothing about his family is addressed, he doesn't say anything about Sukuna, nothing about his guilt, nothing about "living a life I won't regret" is he regretting anything?? Is he happy?? Let alone how unsatisfying and anticlimactic Sukuna's "death" was, every character that died has gotten a flashback, a moment to self reflect, some sort of peace in the end but we got nothing from him same exact way we're not getting anything with Yuji its insane to me. I'd rather this all be a dream conjured up by Yuji but as some people say it's a cope because genuinely this is the worst Yuji has been treated as a character and if the last chapter is wasted on introducing some new mc for jujutsu kaisen 2 then I don't even know what to say. But also the dream theory doesn't fully hold up imo, there's some things that are too specific or complicated for Yuji to have come up with if it was his domain. What are your thoughts? Any other theories? i've also been thinking about the last chapter still and i've had some more ideas about it. i read the dream theory and though a lot of it makes sense, i'm personally hoping that this chapter was in fact telling us that takaba is behind the "cursed fiancee" subplot because, as another user pointed out to me, it seems like something he would do. if that's the case, maybe kenjaku really is alive and we can finally get some meaningful conversation and focus on yuuji's strange family situation and maybe even learn how he felt about sukuna's death.

I'm actually very frustrated with how even at the end we don't focus at all on Yuji, Megumi gets closure for his dad, gojo, his sister, even hana, but we don't know anything about what Yuji is feeling???? Nothing about his family is addressed, he doesn't say anything about Sukuna, nothing about his guilt, nothing about "living a life I won't regret" is he regretting anything?? Is he happy??

i really feel you on this one, jenjen. not only is gege still (deliberately) putting more focus on literally almost everyone other than yuuji, but there's still no explanation about yuuji's family or how he's feeling after all this.

i have this delusional wish theory that the reason why we haven't gotten yuuji and his thoughts alone yet is because there's still a chance that he's hiding that sukuna is actually alive. i still find it really suspicious that yuuji hasn't been focused on ever since that final scene of him with sukuna, and while i think this is mostly because of gege's inability to maintain yuuji's mc status, i also question if yuuji really might have saved sukuna regardless.

i think he does regret the way his last moment with sukuna went. it's clear to me that his expression was one of disappointment and even despair that sukuna chose to die over come back to yuuji and live with him. but since we haven't gotten to see his feelings on it, and because yuuji still hasn't openly talked about sukuna's death with the others, i'm thinking it's because there's more we're not seeing yet here.

his happiness seems a little bit forced and not entirely honest, so i have to say i don't really think he's "living without regret" right now, but whether or not we'll finally get a confirmation on his true feelings is up to whatever comes with the last chapter.

Let alone how unsatisfying and anticlimactic Sukuna's "death" was, every character that died has gotten a flashback, a moment to self reflect, some sort of peace in the end but we got nothing from him same exact way we're not getting anything with Yuji its insane to me.

i can't lie, i've been seething about that, too. though i accept most of that final interaction between them and find it was completely in character, i still don't like how rushed it was. though i have some hope that sukuna did in fact have a moment of self-reflection because i do believe in the original japanese he referred to himself as a "curse" with quotation marks, which is the closest he's gotten to saying he's not fully inhuman. since yuuji has been treating sukuna more like a real person than anyone else in the last few chapters, i'd like to think it did touch sukuna in a way, which is why he not only called yuuji by his full name but also called himself a curse despite the fact that he technically isn't.

it's kind of like admitting he lost to both yuuji and his ideals because he has no other ground to stand on but remaining to the monster till the very end. and i feel like yuuji's disappointment with this decision is because he knows sukuna is still shutting out any possibility of fulfillment just because it doesn't suit his "nature."

I'd rather this all be a dream conjured up by Yuji but as some people say it's a cope because genuinely this is the worst Yuji has been treated as a character and if the last chapter is wasted on introducing some new mc for jujutsu kaisen 2 then I don't even know what to say. my worst fear is also that this last chapter is simply a way to introduce someone new who will take up the sequel series, and i'd be disappointed in that infinitely more than i was when gege kept inserting so much yuuta worship and focus into everything.

though i also feel like the dream theory did explain why yuuji isn't being focused on, i personally feel a bit unsettled by it because not only does it not quite line up yuuji's abilities or all of the plot given to us so far, but it also makes yuuji's story so much more tragic and, depending on how far back this "dream" started, it could have also potentially erased that last interaction between sukuna and yuuji. perhaps this is because i didn't read it fully enough, but i don't believe that the dream theory explains when exactly yuuji's fantasy might have started.

i personally think it would be more interesting if takaba was behind this latest development, since it seems comical and harmless enough to be his style. if that's true then it might also indicate that kenjaku is alive and wants to speak to yuuji, would could help provide a little more closure about yuuji's family and his feelings. meanwhile the dream ending would only be more tragic and potentially ruin any positive ending for yuuji, who i feel deserves something happier more than anyone.

but this is just my personal belief/theory.

i think my biggest problem with the current chapters of jjk is that they have been so rushed (mostly not gege's fault) and that the sukuna/yuuji interaction we've been getting has been so sidelined or out of focus that it doesn't really explore what is really going on between each character. we hear so little of yuuji's thoughts or reasons for suddenly wanting to extend mercy to sukuna when before he hated sukuna with all his heart and thought that "these guys will always be curses." i have so many theories about it but i feel like i've been ranting enough lately, but i just can't accept that those interactions meant nothing deeper to either of them than most fans are making it out to be.

Yeah, there is that - Shigaraki is still alive despite being smashed to dust. However he survives. repeating myself but it's so lovely how that's just not a concern for heroes. everything is the same as before, villains still being treated in a dehumanized way, but heroes will try to humanized them in their minds before proceeding. or something.

I was just talking to @stillness-in-green about the fucking stupid parallels. She brought up that Bakugou attacking Kurogiri seemed to be a parallel to USJ, where he did the same thing; except this time he might have destroyed the guy. Worse, this time he attacked the guy who was trying to heroically do several things at once: stop Deku from punching Shigaraki, thus protecting Shigaraki, while asking AFO to give Shigaraki back, because his friends are waiting, tryinf to fulfill Spinner's request. So apparently Bakugou's training at UA taught him to be more lethal I guess. Progress.

Remember that two-page spread where All Might and AfO fought crashing into the train platform where the story started? (Deku seeing a Giant Villain and going woahhh) and it made not a goddamn sense as a call back, because nothing has changed? lmao

Anon I feel the same, the fandom loves to indulge in hypocrecy 😃 the fact that there are people who are trying to blame uenoyama for not able to communicate to mafuyu his problems and constantly blaming him for everything while mafuyu is this innocent boy who can't do no wrong bc he is sad his abusive boyfriend died is so annoying and they are acting as if mafuyama is perfect and truly love each other when it's always one person doing the effort and trying for the relationship so for me it's not surprising that ue thinks their relationship it's doomed because mafuyu doesn't seem to bother about ue, we still don't have any panel of mafuyu comforting ue or reassuring him about his feelings it's always just vague words but never truths also the fact that kizu couldn't even bother to draw new scenes for mafuyu and uenoyama or it's always drawing mafuyuki when that man has been a hindrance for the manga and mafuyu's character is so shameless, I'm just gonna say that even if yuki was alive his relationship with mafuyu is doomed bc that man was toxic and manipulative who loved to isolate mafuyu from the world, a relationship like that had no future even if he was alive but at least ue's character would have had a different future at least I know he would've taken more of the spotlight and be his own character than just being the "what if" kizu is writing, I really kind of hate his new design too bc people were saying he has the same hairstyle as that dead man when in reality supposedly his new design is for akihiko but anyways I want him with long hair now because the fandom ruins everything and I'm so happy people are starting to realize that mafuyu doesn't care about ue and had never bothered about his health or anything related to him even when ue was trying to talk to him, we just need more people to start to notice even if the wrong ones are loud, the majority of the given fandom are weirdos and love traumaporn that's they are so fixated on mafuyuki and refuse to acknowledge ue's character and his role in the story also I really hope mafuyuma breaks up so mafuyu can go to a therapist and heal but watch kizu make uenoyama apologize for having insecurities and doubts about himself to mafuyu, watch kizu make ue swear his undying love to him and carry again their relationship because mafuyu is so sensitive and has trauma and loves his dead ex, watch her insert yuki again to make him the spotlight and mafuyu a victim and the fandom start calling ue names again bc he is not a therapist.

I just want kizu to prove me wrong and make mafuyu chase after him instead of ue always doing the chasing for someone who doesn't prioritize him or value him in his life.

I’m rereading mha and I kind of forgotttttt just how terrible Endeavor was. Like I think his redemption arc was actually pretty good (in some ways— his personal growth was interesting and made sense, but idkkk how I feel about outside reactions. Part of that is also just the fact that there’s not a lot of time to focus on the Todoroki family drama with the war. I digress), but I also think he needs to be hunted for sport. The Endeavor flashbacks are some of the only moments in the manga that a genuinely sickeninggg. Rei should be allowed to kill him, I think. I’m a little nervous about the potential Dabi resolution because I think if Natsuo and Dabi forgive him, I might lose it a little. Though Todoroki family sit down meal together would be very good. I’m so curious how Horikoshi will wrap everything up

horikoshi is wilddd for making endeavor irredeemably bad while also giving him really good fights and such like i DO enjoy endeavor in the story a lot, but yeah i don't think he should get away with any of this but let me not digress

and yeah i am also morbidly curious about where the todoroki subplot is headed to and on which note it's going to conclude because atp, i have no idea what to expect from horikoshi. I m not big on speculations, either, since horikoshi seems to be very fickle when it comes to endeavor like you can tell he was supposed to be killed off but hori backed off lol.... i feel like we're going to get a "good" todoroki ending in the sense that everyone will find their peace with how things are, but nothing radical so endeavor won't be shunned i guess, i feel like horikoshi is going to reunite dabi with his family and make him part ways afterwards for an unforseeable future which would make me sad well whatever </3 i'll just wait for those chapters to drop i need to see dabi survive this first lmao
