———
The roar of the crowd had dwindled into murmurs as you, Hermione, and Luna sat on the bleachers, watching the Gryffindor Quidditch team gather on the pitch below. The match against Hufflepuff had ended moments ago, and to everyone’s surprise, Gryffindor had lost after a season of winning.
It wasn’t just a loss—it was a hard-fought game, filled with moments of near victory that had slipped through their fingers.
Fred and George, always the heart of the team, looked particularly worn down. Fred’s usual buoyant demeanour was dimmed, his lips were pressed in a firm line, nodding as Oliver clearly scolded him about something. He wasn’t one to take criticism lightly, especially not when he was already down.
“I think Wood's giving Fred a hard time,” Hermione murmured, squinting at the scene below.
“Fred looks sad,” Luna observed, tilting her head dreamily. “Maybe he’s just feeling the weight of the nargles today.”
You tried waving to Fred, catching his eye. "It's okay Freddie..." you mouthed, attempting to comfort him slightly from the bleachers.
He looked up and, instead of the cheeky grin and exaggerated gestures you were used to, he blew you a small, almost apologetic kiss.
It wasn’t the playful, confident one that usually made you laugh; it was soft, almost sad, and it made your heart ache.
“He’ll be okay,” Hermione reassured you as you all made your way down from the stands.
The walk back to Hogwarts was subdued. The team split off to the showers while you, Hermione, and Luna headed toward the common room. Your mind was on Fred the whole time, wondering how you could cheer him up.
When the players eventually returned, freshly showered but still visibly tired, you led the cheers in the common room to boost their spirits. George gave a half-hearted grin, Angelina and Katie exchanged appreciative smiles, but Fred hung back, his smile never quite reaching his eyes.
Determined to help him, you waited for the crowd to thin out before slipping away and making your way to the boys’ dormitory. Knocking softly, you peeked inside. Fred was sitting on his bed, his head resting in his hands, and the sight made your chest ache.
There was no sight of his dorm mates, they were likely out and about, lurking around campus somewhere.
He looked up when you entered, and his face softened immediately, though the exhaustion in his eyes noticeable.
“Hey,” you said gently, closing the door behind you.
“Hey,” he replied, his voice low. He patted the spot next to him, and you sat down, the mattress dipping slightly under your weight.
“What’s wrong?” you asked, though you already had a good idea.
Fred sighed, running a hand through his damp hair. “Oliver. He’s... he’s been on my case. Said I was distracted during the match, that I wasn’t focused enough. Maybe he’s right.”
You frowned. “That’s not fair. I watched the whole match, Fred. You were brilliant out there.”
He shook his head, a humourless laugh escaping him. “Doesn’t feel like it. We lost. And Oliver... he’s just so stressed about this season. Guess I was an easy target today.”
Reaching out, you placed a hand on his arm, stroking gently. “Ignore him. He’s just upset because he cares too much about the team. But that doesn’t mean he’s right about you. You gave it your all, Fred. I could see it. And I’m so proud of you.”
You hated seeing him like this, your Fred, who always had a joke or a cheeky grin, now looking so defeated.
Fred gave you a small, grateful smile, his gaze softening further, though the weight of the day still lingered in his expression. “You’re too good to me, you know that?”
“Someone has to be,” you teased, squeezing his hand. “You’re not half as annoying as you pretend to be Weasley.”
The corner of his lips curled up ever so slightly, and you decided you’d do anything to make it stick. An idea popped into your head, and you straightened up.
“Sit on the floor,” you said suddenly.
Fred blinked at you, confused. “What? Why? You’re not planning to hex me, are you?”
“No hexes,” you promised, laughing. “Just trust me.”
Still skeptical, Fred slid off the bed and sat cross-legged on the floor. “This better be good,” he muttered, though there was a hint of amusement in his tone.
You knelt behind him, placing your hands on his broad shoulders. The moment you started massaging him, he tensed, clearly surprised.
“What are you—”
“Shh,” you interrupted, grinning. “Just relax.”
It didn’t take long for him to give in. A low groan escaped his lips as your fingers worked over the knots in his shoulders. “Merlin Y/N, that’s... bloody amazing,” he muttered, his head dipping forward.
“You’re all tense,” you said softly, your fingers kneading the muscles in his neck. “You’ve been carrying too much stress.”
Fred let out a deep sigh, his body slowly relaxing under your touch. “You’re going to put Madam Pomfrey out of a job,” he joked, his voice muffled. “This is—blimey—I could get used to this.”
You smiled, continuing to work your fingers along his shoulders and down his back. The earlier frustration and tension seemed to melt away, his breathing slowing as he leaned into your touch.
“You know,” he said after a while, his voice lighter now, “if you ever decide to quit school, you’ve got a future in saving stressed Quidditch players.”
You laughed, continuing to massage him. “I’ll keep that in mind.”
As you leaned closer, you couldn’t resist planting a soft, lingering kiss on the side of his neck. Fred’s breath hitched slightly at the unexpected gesture. Smiling against his skin, you pressed another kiss just below his ear, then one more at the curve where his neck met his shoulder.
“Wha—” Fred started, his voice thick with surprise and something softer, “what are you doing?”
“Cheering you up,” you murmured, your lips brushing against his skin as you spoke.
He let out a low, content hum, tilting his head slightly to give you more access. “Well, I’d say it’s working,” he moaned softly, his grin evident even though you couldn’t see it. “Bloody hell, you’re good at this.”
You giggled, continuing to pepper his neck with light, affectionate kisses. “Good. You deserve a little TLC after today.”
Fred turned his head slightly, his voice a little breathless now. “A little? I deserve this every day.”
“You’d get spoiled,” you teased, kissing just below his jawline.
“Already am,” he admitted with a happy sigh. “And if you don't stop I might just take you here and now." He moaned again, as you left him a hickey, sucking sweetly on the side of his neck.
"You like that Weasley?..." You cooed, continued planting sweet kisses around his neck and he threw his head back, groaning softly.
"Mhm, feels so good love..." He hummed, eyes shut as his breathing grew heavier.
You chuckled, pulling back slightly to look at him. His eyes were closed, his lips curved in the most serene smile you’d seen all day. His usual cheeky confidence was still there, but it was softer now, tempered with gratitude and affection.
When you finally stopped, Fred turned around to face you, his brown eyes warm and filled with gratitude and adoration. “My girlfriend's incredible,” he said softly, reaching for your hand.
“You’re not so bad yourself,” you replied, smiling.
He got up and made his way onto the bed, hovering over you as he pushed you down gently, making you lie down with his hands beside your head, trapping you beneath him essentially.
He then bent down into a kiss, sweet and unhurried, his lips warm against yours. You giggled, as he continued, parting your mouth slightly as his tongue slipped inside.
His lips were soft, pillowy against your own. "Fred..." you moaned into his kiss softly as he sucked on your tongue. You could feel the soft tickle of his breath beneath your nose, your fingers running through his hair as you breathed each other in.
He too, had always managed to make you melt at his touch, to feel good, to feel loved, you were weak beneath him.
When he pulled back, his forehead rested against yours, and he let out a content sigh.
“You really know how to cheer a bloke up, don’t you?” he teased, his grin finally back.
“Someone’s got to keep you from sulking,” you quipped, poking his chest playfully.
Fred chuckled, moving to lay beside you on his bed. You curled up against his side, his arm wrapped securely around you.
For the first time that day, he looked completely at ease, the weight of the match’s loss forgotten.
As you lay there together, his fingers idly traced patterns on your arm. “You know,” he said after a while, his voice soft, “I don’t deserve you.”
You tilted your head up to look at him, frowning. “Don’t say that Freddie, you're amazing. You know, despite how much of a git you can be sometimes, you deserve all the happiness in the world.” You turn to face him, brushing some messy strands away from his face to see him, your Fred.
His grin returned, this time with a mischievous glint. “Well, if you insist... I suppose I’ll let you keep spoiling me.”
You laughed, swatting his arm lightly. “Don’t push it, Weasley.”
He laughed too, pulling you closer. “Too late.”
Fred pulled you into his arms, your bodies pressed against each other, your head rested below his, melting into his chest, one of the many perks being the little spoon.
The two of you laid there, tangled together, the world outside fading into nothing. His steady breathing lulled you into a peaceful nap.
When George returned later, he peeked in, grinning at the sight of you both asleep, Fred’s arms securely around you. He quietly closed the door, leaving you both to your well-deserved rest.

I could talk so much about this promotional video. And how it lied about season 2
Jinx is being depicted as going to storm Piltover. This never happens. Jinx never actively goes to war with Piltover.
(In fact, she's made to forgive Piltover and apologise to Caitlyn that she killed her mom. Which Jinx would NEVER do. She DESPISED Caitlyn and her mother was on the council which has oppressed Zaun for the entirety of Jinx's life.)
This false imagery of Jinx going to war also matches the intro scene where she's waving the flag and becoming a symbol/leading a revolution. It promises a plot line that was completely unexplored as Jinx never actually led any sort of rebellion, and in fact hid away with Isha instead. (Not to mention that the Zaunite rebellion went nowhere and got dropped after act 2)
I would even go as far as to say that Isha was created to completely erase Silco and the impact of his death. To make it so that Jinx wouldn't become a revolutionary as a reaction to his death, despite the fact that she shoots at the Council as one of her first acts after his passing.
Even as Powder she wanted to fight back against Piltover and Jinx HATED enforcers. She killed them without a second thought, even humming songs as she casually killed them. She was raised by Silco, who wanted an independent Zaun. It would make sense for her to storm Piltover with Fishbones, as depicted here. But she doesn't. Because she decides that "Jinx is dead" and that she's going to hide out with Isha.
Then there's the Vi shadow. There's SO MUCH that could be said.
1, that Vi is now in her sisters shadow. This is sliiightly touched upon when Vi sees that Jinx is being painted on a mural with Vander - Jinx is Vander's successor, whereas it was supposed to be Vi. But even this symbolism is strange. Why would Jinx be depicted this way? Vander was never a revolutionary, he maintained the status quo, so she isn't his successor.
(The reason is that the writers were trying to erase Jinx and Silco's dynamic so they focused on Jinx and Vander being father and daughter which was. A really strange choice imo. Especially as it turned Warwick from a monster due to his transformation to a lucid dog that they were trying to save for a whole act. And then some. Only for him to die twice. Which wasted screentime in a show that already had a problem with pacing)
2, that Vi actually doesn't like Piltover either and that she ALSO wants to rebel, seeing as she's being depicted as a rebel's shadow. Which would fit her character a lot better than her joining the enforcers with barely any resistance or insight into her thoughts after the initial "No Cait I can't".
It would also remove her passiveness when Caitlyn was gassing Zaun. Vi had NOTHING to say? SERIOUSLY? The woman who, in season one, said "You enforcers are all the same, just asshole criminals in fancy uniforms"? She has barely any thoughts about Caitlyn's cruelty? Vi's character was completely brutalised this season and it's so sad to see. I knew Vi was going to become an enforcer, I know that that's her title in the game, but like THIS? It doesn't fit how Arcane set up Vi's character!
Not to mention that Vi was sad that the council got hit with a missile. That she said she would hunt Jinx down for what she did. Vi never had any attachments to the council. Shes been oppressed by the council her whole life. She SHOULDN'T be sad about what happened. Sure, she could sympathise that Caitlyn lost a parent, but she shouldn't be so broken up that the council was bombed.
Vi's character was so cheapened and flat this season. Her arc was non existent.
And Jinx? Jinx was completely ooc from what we saw in s1 and especially after the finale of that season.
For a show that was meant to be about the two sisters... the writers really fumbled both of them.
And it's so horribly disappointing

I’ve seen a distinct lack of nuance when it comes to discussions about Silent Hill 2, more specifically in regard to James as a character. It’s very easy to oversimplify his motivations/actions, when looking at it through a lens of bad actions = bad person. While there’s no justification for him murdering Mary, people often mischaracterize her death being the cause of James hating her.
I’m in no way saying people can’t dislike James, but a lot of the hate I’ve seen reflect misunderstanding his character and really the entire game as a whole. More specifically Ive seen the argument that he was motivated by sexual repression, and since Mary he was sick he hated that he lost that intimacy. But that in itself ignores the core theme of his guilt and how ultimately he didn’t hate Mary, if James killed without remorse then nothing would be drawing him to Silent Hill. He’s facing his guilt, that’s the whole reason characters like Pyramid Head exist in the first place. That same mischaracterization also ignores the significance of different endings and what each of them reflect on James. If he truly hated Mary, he wouldn’t have gone to Silent Hill, especially when considering that he originally went there to kill himself, and how he does in the “In Water” ending.
A scene that’s been used to “support” the idea that James hated her was when he states that he did hate her. But, that scene itself is surrounded by context which shows that while he may have began to hate aspects of Mary (I.e her sickness, and also the abusive tendencies she had during that time), he didn’t truly feel that way. Even Mary herself asks “Then why do you look so sad?” because it wouldn’t make any sense to have James go to Silent Hill if he didn’t care about Mary in the first place. I just find it a bit irritating that people who insist James hated Mary are the same people who think others have misunderstood the game if they like James.
Media literacy has reached an all time low, It’s a shame that a character like James is oversimplified in conversations regarding his morality, because I think it shows that people are willing to accept that a person is just bad because of wrongful action without considering how context may change the discussion.
I think if a person is really stuck in the belief that James never cared for Mary, they experienced Silent Hill with their eyes closed. Because story wise that doesn’t make sense for anything that happens, and does a disservice to the game and how it’s meant to be layered and doesn’t just draw on a single meaning.

Zayne — Absolute Zeal đŸŹđŸ©”
đŸ©”- Screenshots -đŸ©”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
đŸ©” - Kindled scene below the cut + my thoughts/rambling -đŸ©”
.
.
.
I love this card. I loveeee this card. MC and Zayne giving domestic, married couple vibes while also deepening their relationship by opening up about their feelings and building their trust in each other even further? Sign me UP!!
The role-playing scene at the restaurant was really fun and seeing Zayne play along (and beat MC at her own game) was delightful. And the chair pulling move? Very smooth.
Now. About the liquor-filled chocolate, about MC feeding it to Zayne, and about Zayne’s (and MC’s, very briefly) drunkenness throughout the card. Let’s get into it.
At the end of their restaurant date, MC gets offered two pieces of chocolate by their waiter and is told that they’re filled with liquor. She then proceeds to feed one to Zayne, without mentioning that fact. Zayne only realizes that after he’s eaten it. We are then met for the first time with drunk Zayne.
Now mind you, MC herself is at least a bit buzzed, as she’s been sipping on some wine throughout the night. From her inner thoughts, it is mentioned that she’s “spurred on by the alcohol.” It doesn’t justify or excuse anything, but it’s just something to keep in mind.
Prior to this, MC doesn’t know just how much of a lightweight Zayne truly is. And in her state, she probably wouldn’t question it over a single piece of candy. Even if a bit careless, she just wants to share a treat and savour the buzz with him.
In any case, should MC have told Zayne about the chocolate before to feeding it to him? Yes. But she didn’t. MC is not perfect, but she’s also not this master manipulator who planned for Zayne to get this drunk so she could take advantage of the situation.
Throughout the night, MC happily takes care of Zayne and helps him cool down. Getting him to sit down on the couch so he can rest, checking his temperature, wiping his forehead with a towel, making sure he’s comfortable enough if he were to fall asleep. She also tells him multiple times to take some hangover pills, but he doesn’t want them. And she won’t force him to take them either, her name’s not Jimmy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(What a big baby, how cute.) Point being, her main goal is to make sure Zayne is alright. Nothing else.
We also get this small exchange between the two that, to me, is very important and hints at what the card really wants us to take away from this whole situation.
Tumblr media
Zayne thinks that him being a bit more vulnerable and honest is “embarrassing”. MC immediately shuts that down and reassures him.
“Is showing your true feelings something to be embarrassed about?” Let’s keep that line in mind.
As the night advances, we can tell Zayne sobers up to a certain degree. He takes a (quick) shower, and is sober enough to properly answer a work call.
And then
After a heavy look, we get these lines from Zayne.
Tumblr media
This moment right there, is what this card essentially builds up to.
It’s not really about Zayne being drunk and acting differently all of a sudden, or about MC tricking him into doing something he wouldn’t do otherwise. It’s about him learning to let go of his inhibitions, letting go of his constant need of being in control, of being perfect.
It’s about him allowing himself to show his true emotions and desires, especially towards MC.
And throughout the night, (throughout their relationship really), MC has shown him time and time again that she loves and cares him for who he is, “flaws” and all. Zayne isn’t perfect, but she never expected him to be. He is safe with her, and she will never hold his emotions against him. And as he realizes that, he finally gives in to his feelings, and they proceed share a lovely night together.
Tumblr media
“Will you hate me for it?” / “I won’t.”
That’s all Zayne needed to hear.

I agree with all the above, and that Zhu Yan is a hypocrite, and a liar, but to me that's what makes him interesting. I have my favourites like we all do (it's Li Lun), but I refuse to take sides in this divorce, because I don't think there's a black and white way to go about it. They both seem to act like since the other in their own point of view broke the vow first, they are now freed from it too. And so Zhu Yan seeks to distance himself from the Wilderness and Li Lun is fine to watch it get destroyed.
Zhu Yan really does seem to value demons as less now, and seems ashamed to be one. And Li Lun is the personification to everything that's painful and shameful to him. So he's dissociated himself from everything about his former life, and built a human life for himself. At one point of the story, in his dreams, he imagines settling down at his human mansion with a human woman, and do regular human chores with her. Yet he can't escape his demon's heart.
Li Lun is a proud demon whose life and freedom was taken from him, and to regain his freedom and to destroy the system that was able to do that to him, he's ready to burn everything down. And, when necessary, to hurt anyone, human or demon, to achieve that. Yet some part of him is holding himself back, waiting to hear what his heart needs to hear to give up wreaking havoc across both realms.
I don't tend to think either of them as immature. I see them as just being demon-like with their emotions. Zhu Yan is more experienced with humans, and better at navigating human interactions, so it's not surprising that he comes across as more broad minded to Wen Xiao. Especially since she gets to see the good side of him. But I agree that he has his biases too. And despite what I initially thought, neither of them is over the break-up. The wound is still so raw, that in that critical moment (when sitting down to play the chess game), Zhu Yan just cannot stop himself from saying something cruel. And because of that weakness, it all goes to shit. (But the thing about me is that I love tragedies, I love messily divorced characters, I love it when characters aren't able to speak calmly and coherently about their emotions, so I'm not mad at the story for doing that.)
In my eyes it's also very clear that Zhu Yan and Li Lun still love each other, but it's the love of exes (friends or lovers, however one wants to see them as), and that they both probably hate that they still do. If the love was dead, I don't think they'd be so harsh towards each other, causing more problems. Li Lun wouldn't have visibly melted for a moment like that on the chess scene if it wasn't so. And I can't even say how much I love that Zhu Yan keeps seeing hallucinations where his former and future demon companions are blending together. (He has so much to unpack there.) I love how the same love that pulls them together also makes them hurt each other.
And about Li Lun and Zhuo Yichen, it is very interesting that Yichen never seems to tell anyone abut their meeting by the water canal. And that meeting is one of my favourite scenes in the whole drama. We never see Li Lun more openly, willingly and desperately vulnerable than in that scene. And despite what Zhuo Yichen says to him, I agree, he does understand. It wasn't for nothing. And I don't think that Li Lun reaching out to him was a mistake, or came out of nowhere either. These two have some very special chemistry, and I can't get enough of it.
let me kiss your brain, because, seriously, EVERY WORD in that post about LI Lun IS ON POINT!!!
Was Li Lun behaving like a murderous toddler throwing a temper tantrum? Yes! But he had some good reasons to do so!
Regardless of their "romantic" relationship, ZYZ and LL were first and foremost, friends, who spent 30k years together. Even though they disagreed and even though ZYZ always felt like being a demon wasn't good enough, he wanted to be human, LL still accepted that.
Did LL overreact by killing those people in the clinic? Yes. But, if I saw my people- including children- in cages, tortured, I'd probably snap too. Plus, it irked me to no end that ZYZ was too preoccupied with being outraged at Li Lun for killing guards instead of actually helping his fellow demons. "I will protect the Wilderness"- proceeds to do absolutely nothing crying over two killed torturers while LL does all the protecting.
Then ZYZ proceeded to touch the unknown burning thing and ended up mortally wounding Li Lun. And then sealed him in and deprived him of any choice. And did he go to talk to him after? Nope. No explanation, no "get well" card, nothing. Heck, I think even a shouting match would've been better.
Even if he never went to LL because he was spiraling into depression, that doesn't explain the whole "holier than thou" attitude he displayed throughout the show. Did LL kill humans? Yes, but so did ZYZ (example- that bureau guy whose heart he exploded to prove his point). And then had the audacity to taunt LL and call him names when in reality LL was right in most of his accusations- of ZYZ being a hypocrite, liar, traitor, etc. I'm sorry, but while LL is absolutely NOT free of fault, ZYZ has no right to pretend he is any better.
But the worst of all is that when he got a chance to make up with LL, he let his pettiness and anger get the best of him. He failed to say ONE SENTENCE (we will put your soul into a piece of wood and you will recultivate again in 100 years) that would've made a whole lot of difference, and in the end, he indirectly caused Ying Lei's, Li Lun's, and likely Bai Ju's deaths.
Literally, all they had to do to get LL to stop his antics and even become THEIR ally was for ZYZ to say "sorry I set you on perpetual fire, bro. I missed you". But the "hero demon" couldn't even do that...
If anything, Zhuo Yichen was the one who showed more compassion and kindness to Li Lun than his supposed friend ever did. No wonder Li Lun shifted his focus to him in the end.
It seems that ZYZ was inherently biased against being a demon and valued humans more than demons. Perhaps, it was because of him being the vessel of malicious energy, so he juxtaposed that unfair twist of fate onto all demons (as in, he would not be in that situation if he were a human). Perhaps, he also realized at some point that he could not have the same range of emotions as humans, so he perceived himself and other demons as less. And Li Lun was the personification of demon-ness and all that ZYZ hated about himself, and he couldn't overcome it. Plus, it seems that all demons have a problem with dealing with complex emotions like grief and rage; this is why, in the end, among all of them, ZYC is the most mature one even though he is only 24. If only ZYZ had one tenth of ZYC's maturity and compassion to his fellow demons, the whole story would've played out very, very differently.
And this is why I want to write fix it fics now
Thank you SO MUCH for your addition, especially for bringing up their very last chess match. It’s probably the only moment that makes me genuinely, fucking angry at Zhu Yan. I can even understand his reaction in the clinic—but this? He wanted to be human so badly that he put his pride above everything else, lmfao. How pathetic, how frustrating it was to see him so desperately refuse to call Li Lun his friend, refuse to say that he cared for him, that he didn’t want him dead, that he had a solution. It’s so sad that Li Lun was always open and clear about his grievances, he always used his words to explain why he’s angry.
I guess if Zhu Yan admitted that he cared for this unhinged one, it would show him in the bad light.
I don’t care; I don’t even think he "indirectly" caused Ying Lei’s death. He literally killed him, period. Xiao Zhuo and the rest of the gang were the ones who told Li Lun about the root thing, and the fact that we see Li Lun IMMEDIATELY stop struggling? He went, Oh
sure, I’ll go into the root, we can draw. (Also, if Zhu Yan cared for Li Lun, he would’ve put him in Cheng Huang’s sundial and grown him for 100 years as an apology for the pain. What is 100 years to a 30K-year-old demon? A mere blink.)
And YES, Xiao Zhuo was incredibly kind to Li Lun. Despite saying he never understood him and never would, we know damn well that’s not the case. Baby Zhuo Yichen spiraled into loneliness, bitterness, isolation, and hatred toward Zhu Yan and demons—until Wen Xiao’s words about snow eventually melting brought him back (the same way Xiao Zhuo’s words sobered Li Lun and left a mark on his soul). I’m forever grateful to our precious Zhuo Yichen for forming his own opinion about Li Lun. (Isn’t it fun that he never told the gang about his encounter with Li Lun by that river?)
Zhu Yan’s hatred, his harsh words, never affected him. Zhuo Yichen understood Li Lun. His journey with Li Lun is one of the most fascinating and interesting. No wonder our director grabbed the two actors and put them in another series together — he’s one of us, a shipper.
I absolutely adore you pointing out Li Lun being everything Zhu Yan hated about himself. His harshness with his former friend comes from his self-pity and self-hatred.
His words, "Li Lun, you’re bitter I have everything, and you have nothing." Despite it being awfully annoying in the moment due to Zhu Yan literally not hearing what Li Lun was telling him, it made me think it’s Zhu Yan trying to convince himself.
And even worse, Li Lun is proud of being a demon. He loves the Wilderness, he loves his home, he loves his people. There’s nothing he loves more than being a demon. He even turned the human he liked the most into one as well.
Zhu Yan is not as broad minded as Wen Xiao claims him to be. He very clearly has his biases. Always thinking about Zhu Yan murdering Xiao Pagoda Ghost that played with them in Li Lun’s illusion. That was awfully cold blooded!
They’re tragic, indeed, and my heart breaks for them both. However, it makes me incredibly happy that Zhu Yan learned from his experience with Li Lun and stood firmly by his new friends’ sides. And I’m happy Li Lun found one Zhuo Yichen and one little Ying Lei who cried for him and were kind to his pain.

Honestly tho I can kind of (but never entirely) forgive Atlus for not making a P5 FeMC and/or romanceable Akechi because like. It would be impossible to write. I mean the main reasoning people give on this topic is that it would be difficult to work into the plot climax in the interrogation room, which is true, but like. My brother in Christ. Would you even make it to that point? Do you truly believe he could even get to that part of the narrative without you ending up in a dark room somewhere?
And for FeMC specifically I have been alive long enough to see how fragile men are over female peers being superior in literally anything. And then we have this boy who already had a total meltdown over the male MC being slightly better than him. Can you imagine FeMC? He'd have an aneurysm
Also it couldn't work with the possibilities of other romanceables. if you took the cheating/harem route and tried to romance anyone else the only in-character response he could possibly have would be serial homicide

2024 reads / storygraph
The Sword of Kaigen
standalone fantasy set in a rural mountain village at the edge of an empire that still holds traditional values, with families of powerful water/ice magic warriors
follows a powerful young heir who begins to question his beliefs about the empire when a new boy comes to his village from the city
and his mother, a housewife who has tried to forget her youth as a warrior and vigilante in the city since she moved back home to a loveless marriage
when there’s a violent attack on their village that they’re unprepared for, everything changes, and she has to embrace her old skills to protect her family and people
#The Sword of Kaigen#aroaessidhe 2024 reads#I’ve been meaning to read this for years and I finally got around to it! a really unique fantasy novel#I had always assumed this was ur average pre-industrial high fantasy and then was immediately hit with video games/tv in the first chapter#lmao. But overall (aside from the broader worldbuilding/politics) it is closer to the average ‘historical’ fantasy narrative -#so I can see why I got that impression#Some really compelling characters and interesting narrative structure that went in some unexpected directions.#It really focuses in on one village and how devastating a single battle in a war can be to their people - and how much work the recovery is#I feel like most sff is more concerned with a single person and/or the whole war so this felt unique. did also mean that the pacing was odd#- it's a slow start; then there’s a battle that must be hundreds of pages. The last section of the book feels a little too drawn out#and brings up random hanging plot elements that don’t really go anywhere. But I think overall this works for the story.#also one thing I didn’t love - cool complex interesting female character MC sure but also there’s weird moments like:#the first scene we see her is all the housewives comparing their attractiveness; she keeps referring to herself as an old woman (when she’s#and oh so meek and useless etc. And some of this feels like it’s part of the broader portrayal of the misogynist society#but some of it felt clunky or unintentional?#And then especially the end - when she and her shitty husband finally confront each other as equals and he apologises#she basically immediately forgives him and is like oh I was equally at fault because I am a meek woman who didn’t try either#like him realising he was wrong (and her realising he had a reason for being the way he was) doesn’t negate the fact that he treated her li#she acts like it was her fault for not trying too - when we have numerous examples of him berating her if she spoke up about anything?#like im glad he’s learning. but also that doesn’t mean she needs to suddenly forgive and love him wtf#that's the only real thing that annoyed me though.#also btw that 5yo seems kinda fucked up. are you guys gonna do anything about that

if dorian didn't show up, do you think louis would have shot minnie?
I do. I know some people think either he wouldn't have or he would've missed so that's why the writers had him shoot Dorian instead, but mmmmmm no, I don't personally think so. I like to think that if he had taken the shot, his shaky hands would've caused him to shoot her fatally.
Mostly because I'm already so normal about the fact that of the Ericson crew, Marlon and Louis are the only ones with a body count. Well, that we know of, but shown to us in the game, at least. Plus, we know it's Louis' first kill.
Like yeah, Clementine and AJ become part of the crew and they have bigger body counts, and if we're counting indirect kills caused by actions, then Tenn has a count... and I guess everyone has blood on their hands for blowing up the boat... but I'm talking about killed directly with a weapon like....... I lied, I'm not normal about that at all, Louis and Marlon are the ones who have killed someone in Louis' route. I'm also not normal about the fact that Louis kills Dorian and then even as he's clearly in shock, he tries to go with Clementine to get AJ, and then later on when they talk about it, he says it feels like bile but not quite and he's glad he has it in him to do it.... listen, listen, listen... I'm obsessed with that.
Anyway, so if Louis shot Minerva, I think he would've accidentally killed her and can you imagine? He's already enough of a mess after killing the woman who pinned him down and tried to cut his finger off [or succeeded] but he knew Minerva, they were friends before the twins were taken. Even Violet couldn't kill her even though that would've been the smarter thing to do, and we know thanks to meta knowledge that killing her would've saved lives, but Violet couldn't, and I don't think Louis would intentionally either.
Speaking of Violet, if Louis killed Minerva, I hate to think about what that would've done to Vi. I think she might've actually left at that point, like what was planned before it got changed to her being burned. I don't think she would've attacked Louis over it, though, like yeah she attacked Clementine in the cell but Louis? I don't know, but I don't think so just because it's Louis and he'd be a mess about it anyway.
Though if he did kill her, it would be a neat parallel to draw... y'know, because Louis forgave AJ for killing Marlon even though he was pissed and heartbroken, and Violet was annoyed with him the entire time... but could she ever forgive Louis for killing Minerva? Y'know? We already have a similar parallel with AJ shooting Tenn, but still.
If Clementine killed Minerva in that moment, though, then I could see Violet attacking her since in her eyes, Clem proved her right.
So yeah, I get why they added the Dorian kill to his route. It adds another compelling element to Louis as a character, but we also need Minerva alive for episode 4; Louis can't kill her, he can't miss, and he's not going to stay with her because we need Violet to stay on the boat and him to be on shore for all routes.
#asks#twdg louis#twdg minerva#twdg clementine#twdg violet#twdg marlon#twdg tenn#honestly whenever i see someone say louis is the boring option i'm just like '.......that's your opinion but also how can you say that??'#then again i'm sure other people look at me saying violentine just isn't for me and they say the same thing so y'know... i can't talk haha#also time is such a weird thing because i look at the entire cell scene in louis' route and like... i'm not even mad about violet anymore#like yeah i still don't believe she was brainwashed like i'm sorry y'all only believe that because kent said something about it#not because there's all this evidence toward it in game like vi being pissed at clementine makes sense she doesn't need to be brainwashed#for it to work like her being vulnerable and easily manipulated into submission makes perfect sense especially with minerva there#it's like everyone was pissed that she attacked clementine and people needed a way to excuse it so it's not violet's fault when like...#that's literally what makes it interesting like calm down it's okay if violet is pissed and scared and behaves accordingly#also my controversial opinion of the day that i'll hide here in the tags so maybe people won't find it sksksk but#I personally find the concept of vinerva and the doomed tragedy of it more compelling than anything violentine did#like i'll defend violentine and i do believe it's an important and good ship it's just not my personal favorite#anyway but then the whole thing with lilly and minerva is so good and louis screaming FUCK YOU at minerva?? amazing love it so good#i love when the soft character who never chooses violence is so pissed off that all that anger they have boils to the surface and it's raw#like... he's SO mad he's SO furious he's SOOO UPSET like he wasn't even like this when marlon died or anything like he hit his limit#and then shooting dorian through the mouth while an accident is just well done i love it and i love his reaction of mortification#and apologizing and YET he still tries to go with clementine he's trembling and can barely string together a sentence but he wants to go#he wants to help her he wants to save aj THAT is the gut reaction he has after everything that just went down#'louis isn't loyal or good for clem because of the vote' babe tell me you don't understand any nuance of louis' character without telling m#it's fine IT'S FINE you don't have to agree and i just have to remind myself that it's fine not everyone likes louis we're okay#this drives me crazy in the best way like y'know what? i love the cells scene in louis' route all of it even the stuff i used to rant about#even the stuff that used to piss me off now i'm just like 'no wait past cj was dumb she wasn't looking at it this way aaaaaaaa' sksksks#that was my tag ted talk about the cell scene thank you

I’m not going anywhere. As long as you’ve got those cybernetics in you
I’ll be sitting here waiting for my chance to take you out. We’re past playing games, Rhysie. All I need is time. One day -- when you’ve forgotten all about me -- I’ll take over your body and skin you alive with your own two hands.

Rat Grinders:Don’t do anything to the Bad Kids until antagonized, and it’s later revealed that their bad actions were a result of being groomed by one of their teachers for years and then murdered and possessed.
Intrepid Heroes:Fuck you, sending you to hell and you can’t be revived.
#I love the Intrepid Heroes#but I feel like they’ve been confirmation biasing their way into dealing the Rat Grinders#just because Kipperlilly was a little bitchy after their response to her calmly introducing hersel was to be racist towards her#I love this season but it really is starting to feel like the season of missed points and lost potential#the bits are amazing#the fights are amazing#the NPCs are amazing#and the Intrepid Heroes are at the top of their game!#but I feel like they’ve repeatedly sacrificed the long term quality of the plot for bits and running gags#and in normal dnd that’s fine of course!#but this is a serialized tv show that you’re making for profit#idk if this made sense#but yeah#still one of my top seasons of D20#but the Rat Grinders especially have so much potential that has been missed#just for a running gag about how they suck#this is not meant to be hate btw! just constructive criticism of the show#I feel like the moment it all started missing for me was when Kristin signed up to be president#that whole scene just reeks of missed potential#Riz’ entire arc feels incomplete without it#same with Kipperlilly#and the whole mirror match thing is thrown off entirely#also Kristin being focused on the presidency means we lose out on a lot of her religion building arc#and her need to take on actual responsibility and do the “uncool shit#I love the season characters and players so much#but I can feel lighting in a bottle waiting just around the corner and I’m sad we missed it#dimension 20#fantasy high#fantasy high junior year#d20
