watching the sdcc panel and i am just very :) about how sweet their answers to “what are some of the micro moments from the game that have stuck with you the most over the years?” are. taliesin saying what the fuck is up with that which was the first like The Party Gets To Know Each Other moments of c3. travis saying asking his wife if he could kiss her in campaign. marisha going way back to the cannonball competition in campaign one. ashley choosing the beauyasha date but also just the silly goat noise matt made. liam adding onto that to compliment matt roleplaying grass so well and then saying his favourite moment was writing a story for laura and reading it to her as caleb for jester. and then matt saying that was his answer, and that his favourite moments of the game are when they find ways to give gifts to each other whether tangible or not. and sam saying his favourite moments have less to do with the story and is more so when he can just. see his friends across the table from him. when marisha perches and when laura and ashley are (badly) drawing dicks and liam saying he loves when sam sneezes and ashley tells him to stop it and just. yeah. they Are an extremely popular online powerhouse, but i’m so happy that they’re also friends building a world together out of gifts to and love for one another.

like i Am so enamoured with the characters and the world of exandria but the moments when you can feel the love that those people have for each other reach out from behind the stained glass of their performances (to steal a metaphor from brennan lee mulligan) are so extremely special and i am endlessly grateful that they decided to share their silly little home game with the world.

having seen at least the rough outlines of all the romances now I have to say that I think emmrich's is probably objectively the best in terms of coherence and completeness of story arc (with the understanding that ultimately the 'best' romance is whichever one makes YOUR heart sing anyway so objectivity is a silly thing to claim that way, it just felt like it's the arc with the most well-paced focused content and the least dangling threads)... but lucanis' is my favourite haha. just. the whole kneeling before your beloved full of reverence but without any of the distance that usually implies??? his complete undramatic certainty and calm in every scene with rook after this, having spent the whole game caught between fear and longing???? mr. lives in a pantry but it says nothing about my psyche don't worry about it it's purely for tactical reasons that I keep myself contained in a small dark room not entirely unlike a cell, love among the parsnips -- finally coming to rook in their room and it's so comfortable and comforting???? after all the times rook supports and comforts him through the game he's finally able to return the same to them when they need it while being so calm and steady and it's so fucking sweet and feels so effortless and with no price attached?????? he basically assigns himself the role of your bodyguard and he WILL stab a god over it??????????????? the turn to protector (which was in his heart all along longing to get out and find a place) of it all????? he sounds like he's found himself unexpectedly stumbling into such a soul-lightening state of revelatory existential relief, full on 'you only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves' mary oliver style, and he goes and he shares that with rook and protectively envelops them in it when they're hurting??????????????????????????? hello for the maker's sake hello can anyone hear me?????

From a writing perspective one of the strongest elements of Cinderella's Castle is its mastery of tone.

This show is so good at pushing you to the edge of fear and despair and then bringing you right back just before the edge.

Lucy and Justine are murdered. Then we introduce Sir Hop A Lot and Crumb, two cute companions to lighten the tone again (something something the fairy queen of sweet dreams giving Ella two friends who are noble and true out of the innocent blood from her murdered childhood friends. something something the faye and gods aren't good or evil but they are fair)

in the most horrific part of the show Ella gets her feet cut off and then we cut to the narrator and our master dwarf in a funny forth wall breaking scene where the dwarf tells the narrator to fuck off for killing Cinderella. its cathartic. a release valve for the brutal murder we just watched.

its just really good storytelling. this is a fairytale. its going to have a happy ending. but the originals were so dark. and this ones really dark and its an adaptation so there's no rules really... You are stating to wonder. Will it ever after happily?

And it does of course. but it feels earned.

so recently i've been getting really into shigadeku and my personal headcanon is deku and tomura (both of them being really headstrong and willful) have more of a push and pull relationship, with tomura often being a bit standoffish or argumentative to prevent deku's sweetness from rubbing off on him, but it only fuels deku's resolve and determination to spoil him even more.

i also think deku would be the more feminine in the relationship and wear pretty dresses for his boyfriend, but he would also be the more dominant one in the relationship, too. i feel like he would be sweet and careful with tomura most of the time, helping him do basic stuff like cooking and laundry since tomura doesn't really know how to without breaking things.

but deku can also be provoked into his more dominant and protective side, wanting to take care of tomura and provide for him, getting angry on his boyfriend's behalf when others judge tomura, taming a bit of tomura's strong sense of willpower by being soft and spoiling him... which his boyfriend loves a lot, but he's not quick to admit it.
