i decided to buy a new graphic tablet instead of finding god knows where i can buy a replacement of my laptop pen. it is an xp-pen deco 03 and its pretty neat so far! now i can continue my freytos stuff hell yeah

best thing about this tablet is what i would call the ⭕ wheel. it can be use as a zoom in/out tool, to rotate the canvas, and adjust the brush size. for me, i use it to rotate my canvas

once i get the hang of it along with putting some adjustments, i can be able to continue my wips. especially this one:

I originally did an outfit based on a historical reconstruction of a baby clout, although a simple tunic was more popular and easier to wear after a baby was done with swaddling, so I went with that for the final look instead.

But I still think the clout is cuter, so anyone curious can find it under the cut. We can call it creative license hehe 😉

"jesus," john rumbles, his words muffled behind his palm as he sags in his chair. he passes the tablet back to laswell, their manager, and refuses to make eye contact with anyone else in the group.

the team were the first to call him since the incident, the incessant ringing rousing him from his peaceful dream. he stretched his arm out to pluck his phone from the nightstand, careful not to jostle you awake.

in the end, his efforts were futile because your own team reached out to you. unlike the specgru's management team, yours were more prepared for the fiasco, sending threads of emails full of instructions how to deal with the situation.

it's not necessarily a scandal, not with how there were more people reacting in favour of the relationship, but john had always been a private person and he is just not used to how his relationship with you ended up being public just overnight.

it's not your fault, no matter how many times you've told him so. he knew what he was getting into when he pursued you. he told his team, their PR department, and even his parents about what might change. even martha was given a lengthy call, the two of them making arrangements how martha and her new wife could possibly avoid being pulled into the spotlight.

so really, everything's fine. it really is. it's just that you've been ignoring his calls since this all started, running out of his flat with a yelled, "be back!", only to disappear for hours. john is worried.

"lassie’s probably doing work. damage control an' all that—you know how it is in the bizz," johnny says, consoling.

"do you know how the 'bizz' even works, 'tavish?" kyle pipes in.

john hears a choked sound, then an abrupt yelp, before scuffling fills his ears.

great. now his team’s tussling.

“out,” kate’s voice pierces through his thoughts. “you all, out. you’re distracting.”

“but missus!” johnny whines, but he doesn’t get to say any more and john looks up, wanting to see how terrifying kate must have looked like to shut johnny up.

oh, yeah, he thinks. that'd put the fear of god in anyone, alright.

he watches as the team shuffles out, all of them sending him comforting smiles, before he’s left alone with kate and alex. kate sits in front of him. “run it by me again, john. where did she tell you she’d be?"

john licks the back of his teeth, hesitating, but before he can respond, his phone rings. three chirps pass when john was finally able to reach for it, ignoring the bewildered look that alex is giving him—kate, it seems, is not even shocked by how agile john is when it comes to you.

"hello?" he murmurs, turning away from his managers in lieu of privacy. from the reflection of the window, he sees alex look away too, in pretense with john, while kate continues to stare, scrutinizing.

"hi, baby," you chirp with a giggle as if you were not radio silent for four whole hours; the afternoon is about to swell at its peak, the summer sun sweltering from every corner of the city. "i missed you lots."

and just like that, john feels himself relaxing. his shoulders sag in the newfound comfort wafting from within his chest, his bruised lips—he didn't even know he had been biting them in his worry—slipping between his teeth, and his forehead easing from all his frowning.

john feels like he's won another game; like they've defeated the shadows and claimed the cup for themselves already.

"s'alright," he says, a touch softer. "all is well f'r you?"

"all is well," you reply, voice curling like you’re smiling. "i'm gonna do somethin' soon so all i ask is that you trust me, okay?"

"of course," john instantly replies before his mind could even comprehend what you just said. "wait what-"

"okay then. bye!"

the line drops just like that.

"oh god," kate hisses from behind john. john can't quite say he mirrors the sentiment because anything you do is good. everything that you are is bright.

he would trust you with a goal, if he could—you have his heart already, after all.

"holy shit!" mactavish shrieks before a phone is shoved underneath john's face.

he goes cross-eyed, blinded by the blue light for a minute, before he is finally able to push johnny's hand away. he plucks the phone from his friend, grunting when the rest of the squad flank him, heads butting his own as they try to get a glimpse of what was on mactavish's phone.

simon begins to laugh while kyle repeats johnny's words.

john can't blame them. holy shit indeed.

It's that time again

Birthday time again, friends!

Last year, I reblogged a bunch of my fics that I liked the days leading up to my birthday day.

This year, I'm gonna do something similar, but I'm gonna be digging a little deeper and reblogging some of my older art things. When I was choosing which ones to showcase, I found that I was being drawn (haha) towards some of my more landmark pieces, like when I started using this or that medium or some of my bigger fandom influences.

It's all about Arrogance, Pride & Ego

These are few verses from The Glorious Quran, that states the fate of the people who are filled with arrogance and pride. This is from Chapter 7, The Heights, verse 144 to 146 which states that:

"Allah said, “O Moses! [Peace be upon him] I have already elevated you above all others by My messages and speech. So hold firmly to what I have given you of my commandments, and be grateful.”(144) And We wrote to him on the Tablets everything of advice and explanation of all things. So, O Moses, hold it firmly and ask your people to hold on to it firmly upon the best things in it. Surely, I shall show you the house of the rebellious and defiantly disobedient sinners (145) and I will turn away from My signs those who are arrogant upon the earth without right; and if they should see every sign, they will not believe in it. And if they see the way of consciousness and right guidance, they will not adopt it as a way; but if they see the way of error and deviation, they will adopt it as their way. Arrogance is a very evil disease. Foremost, it makes a man deaf, dumb, blind and rebellious, pushing him towards sin slowly. Secondly, he becomes inefficient to comprehend the signs of Allah, because Allah doesn't guide the rebellious. Even if Allah desires to make him understand about the right path, he will reject it as a matter of morons. But whenever a path full of errors and misguidance appears, they immediately adopt as their way. Allah makes them wander in falsehood because they rejected the signs of Allah and remained heedless of the guidance from Allah (Chapter 7: 144-146)

This is what the Gaza War exposed. It is a sign from Allah where 2 categories of peoples were compared side by side, line to line, as elaborated above in the verse [7:144-146]. It's useless to elaborate HOW, as in this Era of 5G, everyone is well intelligent to understand the differences between Gazans and Israelis, in terms of verse [7:144-146]

ANYWAY the New Kingdom is generally agreed to end in the mid-1070s B.C. You with me so far?

Now. Atem is said to have died 3000 years before the events of the manga, which takes place in 1996. What year do you get if you subtract 3000 from 1996? 1004 B.C. which is AFTER the New Kingdom. That's the Third Intermediate Period baby!! Specifically it's the reign of Psusennes I in the 21st dynasty. NOT THE NEW KINGDOM. The Third Intermediate Period also makes a lot of sense as it was a time of political instability, and as we see in Yugioh the government is kind of a mess and very insecure. Compare this to the New Kingdom, which is treated as a "golden era" of ancient Egypt.

IN CONCLUSION Atem is a 21st dynasty THIRD INTERMEDIATE PERIOD pharaoh Yugioh is NOT New Kingdom and I will die on this hill. and when I do they will dig up my corpse and they'll go "wow! a New Kingdom era find"

S5 Ep 40 Pt2: Time to Bother Bakura (In Kul Elna)

We have arrived in Kul Elna! And it looks like a bomb exploded on it. Which like...I dunno how the process of making the Millennium items works, the show gracefully cuts away at the inferred carnage, but it removed the roofs.

And then this blessed being shows up.

Down in a crypt where the Millennium items were forged, Bakura is vibing in the best way he knows how. If my brain weren’t so strewn with so much freakin long covid that turns it into moth balls and if I weren’t behind on everything in life, it would be fun to draw this situation. I mean look at this situation.

Like when this anime wants to get extra and weird, it gives it the full weird, and I appreciate that. This is not subtle at all, and that’s why I like it. Corny as hell. Extra aesthetic. Keep it up, this is the good stuff.

Pharaoh enters the tomb (or whatever the hell it is--not entirely sure what this underground Legend of Zelda temple was before it became the super haunted place where the items were made. Probably a cellar for storing that garlic they like to eat so much.) and the rest of his crew stays behind to fight oodles of skeletons.

The whiplash between silly skeleton fight and Pharaoh facing his demons down in the crypt was pretty funny.

This is probably some Dark Magician girl lore that I should know but I don’t. Like on a good day I don’t watch the card fights and so on an off day like today you bet your ass I have no memory of it.

Since it’s About Time Already, Bakura finally explains this guy who we saw waaaay back in Season 1.

As I was remarking with bro how there was symbolism to the puzzle being over the heart Bro said “and the ring is over the dick” and he also says he wishes to rescind his statement, but he’s not wrong I mean...look where it is.

But now we know, this big ol millennium stone was filled with dead people the whole time! There we go, that’s uh...that’s new information. Not like we haven’t had a bunch of items with dead people souls in it in this show, but this guy is like when you go to the gas station and they got like little chips and sandwiches you can buy--but then there’s the REALLY BIG PICKLE.

Which like I dunno if this is a universal thing, the big pickle, but at every single store there’s this massive pickle and you’re like “well that’s weird, but who is buying these???” and then you see one in your fridge and it’s “OMG is it my roommate?” and then you go to your friends house and the big pickle is there, and then you go to your mom’s house and big pickle is there. Everyone gets the big pickle. Everyone respects and understands the weird ass giant pickle but you.

That’s Yami and this tablet.

Forgive me if that makes zero sense but my long covid brain is convinced that was a good metaphor.

Anyway long story short, Yami is about to get chewed up by ghosts which...he’s a ghost already but don’t worry about it.

Bakura will try and redeem himself constantly with how he’s the last soul survivor of a dead civilization but when you think about it...everyone from Pharaoh’s era is dead by now so like preaching to the choir a bit.

Also, we get a glam up by Mahad, back in business, as the Dark Magician, in  a suit he cannot turn his head to the right or left in.

Every time I see Dark Magician man it’s like

I get that they’re committed to the hat at season 5, but like It’s a banana. It screams banana.

Y’all I haven’t touched this card game in like 5 months because of the LC and I gotta tell you: I already forgot every single one of the rules so I’m thankful this season that the card fights are kind of just normal ass fights.

PS if this is like the fault of my brain or the dub, like you can let me know but like...

...did Mahad in his banana suit really infer in this episode that it’s OK that Bakura’s town got supermurdered because they were criminals? Like, Mahad, that’s a bad tweet, you should delete it.

But then again, that is on point for how the justice system worked in 3000 BC.

Convinced that Pharaoh’s Dad died in order to free Pharaoh from the burden of All Those Dead People, he is ready to play cards and unite Egypt. hallucinate.

And then Guess who shows up, that’s right...the girl who once gave us a giant sword in a dream about an evil Aurora Borealis. It’s Dark Magician girl, who exists before I thought she should exist yet in the Yugioh timeline. But that’s OK, because she’s here now.

...man here I was thinking Mana would hella die and get turned into a card in order for Dark Magician Girl to exist--but if that doesn’t need to happen. They’re two seperate people. Like in the same way Yami and Yugi are two seperate people (that look very different although similar haircuts) Which like, sucks for Mahad because he super died--but great for Mana, I guess.

It makes you wonder like...does anyone else die then? Is there hope for Seto’s Soon to be Dead Wife?

None. None hope, that wife is super dead, but maybe?

ok, final impression? it's cute, it's fun, most of the issues i have with it can be answered with "it's a children's cartoon". i'm glad a new generation of kids is being given a new superman series, which is the important thing here (and i mean, the cartoon that got me into superman was fucking krypto the superdog, so). can't wait to get my little cousins and nephews into it!!

the biggest disappointment is probably lois and clois, tbh. she might even eventually develop into a more accurate version of the character, but the get-together that they're going with is definitely not how i'd prefer (and the early-on identity-porn era is my favourite for them, so it's double the :/). but it's ok, there's tons of other adaptations and comics out there that do show them that way (and more on the horizon! here's hoping 'superman: legacy' delivers, the casting is already amazing so 🤞🏻)

anyway, i'm gonna be going through the eps kinda slowly bc i'm pretty busy, so it's definitely not gonna be like my usual half-a-season-in-one-sitting liveblogs (god i miss having vacations)

...I don't exactly know how to start...my mother gave me this diary for my last birthday and told me that it was very important for me to write, she told me that it once belonged to my grandmother and that it already has the story of two generations here. Who Can Kill a Child? (1976), is a politically incorrect title for a Spanish horror film on a difficult subject directed by Narciso Ibáñez Serrador. The film tells the story of a married couple expecting a baby who travels to a remote island off the coast of Spain for a vacation and finds it almost completely devoid of adults. WTF? WTF, indeed! The direction and cinematography are brilliant and the acting doesn’t miss a beat. The 70s Grue Crew, joined this episode by Daphne Monary-Ernsdorff (yay!), are simultaneously disturbed and impressed by this cult classic and think it deserves a wider audience… if you can take it!

TRIGGER WARNING: The movie begins with ten minutes of newsreel footage depicting the heartbreaking damage done to children by the actions of adults in wars. Many viewers will understandably want to skip this section.

At the time of this writing, Who Can Kill a Child? (1976) is available to stream from various YouTube links and is available from Mondo Macabro as a standard format Blu-ray disc.

Watched some footage of various places in the 1960s/70s/80s, and people just going about their day to day lives. Some folks have those films and upload them to YouTube every now and then...

I love watching stuff like this, because I get to see a snapshot of mundane everyday life before I was born. It's also cool when you find footage of random stuff happening from your birth-year, too. I'm a 1992 baby with an affinity for all things from the past, even going back to when I was a kid. It fascinated me that before-times were significantly different, from the movies to the pop culture to the technology used...

The comments sections, however, are always a wasteland of needlessly specific insults of any generation past, I dunno, early Gen X? It's always the same squabble that read "blah blah when adults were adults, blah blah when people looked and dressed RESPECTABLY, blah blah no stunted adult-children to be found, blah blah no phones or tablets."

Basically, tell me you grew up in a white suburban bubble without telling me you grew up in a white suburban bubble...

_*_ I know that's par for the course on YouTube, but these days the complaining has gotten way more specific and quite not-so-subtly targeting of marginalized groups and any kind of outside-the-box thinking...

** Cough cough this is just like what the mediocre pseudo-country bellend Jason Aldean has been whining about recently...
