#in general though i’m super impressed with this show’s character writing so far

watching heartcatch precure and feeling conflicted because itsuki is really endearing, but i can’t stop feeling sour that any time mainstreamish media does a gender identity narrative it’s always about a girl embracing femininity. like wow it’s okay for a girl to be girly? how groundbreaking.
like, for sure, the pressure on girls and women to reject hyperfemininity in order to be taken seriously under patriarchy is a real issue. i’m sure there were girls who felt seen by itsuki and that’s great. but i can’t help but also think of all the little girls out there who wish they could be more masculine without getting shunned for it, or the ones who don’t want to be girls at all, seeing a girl who looks like their ideal self shaking off their masculinity like it’s a burden and joining all the other normal feminine little girls in frilly dresses and perfume land. it’s never allowed to be about girl who WANTS to be more masculine, it’s never about a character realizing they’re trans, it’s never a man being encouraged to embrace his inner femininity.
and they have to come up with this crazy convoluted reason that barely makes sense for her to actually end up in that situation. like what ten year old watching this show is going to see itsuki struggling with gender expression because she feels pressured to disguise herself as a boy by her mysterious rich family to cover for her sicky femboy older brother and think that’s relatable or map that onto their own feelings and experiences at all
like i’m not expecting this japanese children’s cartoon to cater to me, white american 25 year old man, but it’s not just precure, it’s everywhere, so i’m bitching about precure because that’s what i’m watching right now. it honestly would have made more sense than the weird convoluted rich secret gender swap thing to just fully commit to what they seem to be trying to say with her character and made her a boy who’s either just longing to embrace his feminine interests, or straight up a closeted trans girl who comes out when she becomes a magical girl. i’m gonna watch the rest of the season pretending itsuki is a trans girl for my sanity
#precure#pretty cure#heartcatch#heartcatch precure#heartcatch pretty cure#myoudouin itsuki#cure sunshine#in general though i’m super impressed with this show’s character writing so far#nice depth while still being easily understandable to the target audience#and really endearing to boot#the only weak link in the main cast besides the mascots is cure moonlight#but i’m only on episode 15 and i trust they’ll expand on her more later#really liked the bit where she hung out in the background of the momo episode that was clever and cheeky

i know you made glasmar a really long time ago but i wanted to ask what ever happened to it?? are you saving the characters (like the dragon siblings, zahaara, etc) for another project? i havent checked in in a long time but it seems like the glasmar that is now isnt connected to you and i was wondering if theyre free to use for our own personal projects like making the old glasmar that i remember playing with the beautiful lake map ^^
Hi, kinda interesting hearing people express interest in Glasmar still in 2025, that was a fun project that I dissolved away from a while back. Lake Zahaara was one of my least favorite maps I made funnily enough which is why I didn’t keep it in, but it’s on old clients that are probably floating around the net somewhere. Glad people still find interest in that game, I’m not sure how things are going with it in modern days as I’ve removed myself entirely from Impressive Title’s community since Glasmar was my one-and-done project lol
In terms of asset usage, I’ve always had the concept in mind that Glasmar and its world is open for anyone to play and have fun with, but as far as I know it’s still currently running. Things get muddy with a lot of overlapping resources and gathering permissions from all sorts of people. If anyone were to make a Glasmar Rewritten in the same vain as TTR or Corporate Clash I’d say I’m fine with it as long as there’s respect for the original game as well as not using anything that wasn’t made by me, AKA don't use anything besides the original Glasmar world and maybe a few scant additional maps like World’s Chessboard (that was a personal favorite of mine, I had a lot of fun making that map) that I made. I’m pretty sure on the old website (that I have no idea if it’s still up or not) it had a map guide and it pretty much showed which maps were made by me and then others.
In terms of characters, I don’t do anything with them nowadays and they’re pretty far removed from everything else I’ve made. The game models for them weren’t originally created by me and were only granted with permissions to use by other parties when certain servers allowed us to use their assets but if you wanted to make fan works or like, fanfictions you could if that’s what you mean. The Glasmar characters were completely separated from everything else I’ve written, other than overlapping things like I used my god characters Zoksim and Mauth, but if you liked them it’s completely alright to do what you want with the stories I’ve written and that contained world I built, I don’t mind. Just probably can’t use those models since… yeah I didn’t make those and I think later on there might’ve been issues with the dragon mob models specifically. Unsure, though.
In terms of my primary characters like the ones listed on my Toyhou.se and such like Rodger or Gracey and etc, I don’t mind people writing things about them or even making headcanons or AUs or even kinning or whatever. If you like what I made do whatever you want with it, as long as you just treat it with general respect, nothing too horrific or even like, claiming you made these characters on your own.
Glasmar’s game versions up until Version 2 I THINK (but don't quote me on that lol) all have things that were made by me and all have assets that were free to use by the general public since that was the time I was just one man banding it lol. I used royalty free music and resources, the only problem is I don’t have any of these old game versions backed up, nor do I have previous source codes. You’d have to dig for those old clients on your own and rebuild the game from the ground up, which would be probably too much of a headache to do anyway. If you want to do that though, go for it if you truly want to. Glasmar’s world and characters were all made by me for fun, the game was foundationally built with its maps and everything during winter break so only in a matter of a week or two, and I never took it super seriously. Other people are what made Glasmar fully what it is and how full of content it got, I just was fucking around. If Glasmar is still running at this point I’d say if you wanted to make a rewritten-style project could probably just give a disclaimer that it’s a fan project, probably can’t profit off of that, not like you really should anyway since IT servers imo should ultimately stay free to play. I don’t know of any servers that are pay to play though lol
Just try to treat it with respect, I’m okay with people doing what they please with Glasmar as long as they just use the assets I made and nothing else from other servers (besides original Impressive Title, because that’s just open source lol) and try to not like… Pretend you created Glasmar yourself or something or try to use the game to like, do malicious shit somehow. That’s worst case scenario stuff though lmfao but that’s all I can think of
Don’t know if I properly answered your question, sorry for the long winded post. Always happy though to hear Glasmar stuck with some people even years later, pretty neat.
EDIT:
Thought to add this after I posted but something to note is there’s ONE thing I made that I’d prefer not return, and that is Glasmar’s Nightclub map aka Club June or Club Luvv. That map had a lot of meme songs that were copyrighted as fuck as well as the person I made that map for I fell out of contact with. This map did appear as the background in one of my videos back in the day though lol, so that's a cool trivia fact at least.
Also, to give my friends their flowers, I founded Glasmar with my friend Theratis and she was the one who came up with the game’s namesake! The early days were fun, it was me and her along with my other close friend Kawoie that helped with other moderation stuff that I couldn’t cover. I still am in contact with the two of them and love them to pieces! I owe it to them for helping out during those early days!! We may have all moved on from Impressive Title but those are some fond memories we made :)

20 Questions More
This is a deeper and more detailed version of the 20 questions for AO3 fanfic writers. Thanks to @casualsavant for the tag.
1) How do you keep getting ideas for your ship / fandom? Supercorp brainrot… I see a picture or meme or video, I watch a movie or read a synopsis, I hear a song and it reminds me of them. They are ever present in my mind. I cannot escape (nor do I want to) and therefore, you cannot escape :chaos laugh:
2) Which authors inspire you in your fandom, and why are they so freakishly good? There are sooo many super talented people in the Supercorp fandom. I’m constantly impressed and overwhelmed with the volume of amazing content. There are the fandom favs: @lostariels, @jazzfordshire, @searidings, @lynnearlington, @coffeeshib, @mycatismyeditor, @lgbtimelords and @melui-the-bookworm, and there are personal favs: @snowydragonscave, @fazedlight, @casualsavant, @luthordamnvers, @gveret-fic, @briefunknowntrash, @cantdrawshaw, @karalovesallthegirls, @vox-ex, Veritas33 (AO3), @writershapeholeonthedoor… Sooo much talent. I just want to read all the time!
3) Aside from the characters of your main ship, who are the characters you love to write? I love all the side characters. I think the relationships in Supergirl are what make Kara and Lena so great and relatable. After Kara and Lena, I think I’m most comfortable writing Alex, but I enjoy writing almost everyone. My WHBL series is an ensemble-cast style story that is primarily Lena pov, but has other povs throughout.
4) Are there pairings or tropes you know for sure you’d never write about? Which ones? I’m not a fan of writing Kara or Lena outside of Supercorp unless in reference to their past relationships. I’m not sure if I would rule any specific trope out completely
5) What is your writing process and why is it cursed? Sav’s answer for this one is pretty relatable lol but uh… I typically put notes in my phone if I don’t have paper/pen handy. I use Excel to plot out timelines and chapters. I like to use color to show what I still need to write versus what’s done or what’s uncertain. I use a simple Word doc and typically write in story order, though if I write a scene I like, but don’t like it’s placement, I’ll cut it out and save it separately for potentially using later or in a different fic. I struggle with writer’s block, anxiety, guilty, sooo much uncertainty. It’s stressful and sometimes overwhelming… But I’m still here, so I suppose getting the story out into the world is all worth it in the end.
6) What is your favorite part of your writing process? I enjoy the research, having something completed and ready to post (if not the anxiety of actually posting), and I enjoy reading the comments
7) What’s the weirdest thing you’ve had to research for a fic? Um, probably sniper rifle stuff
8) Is there a particular writing rule you struggle with (grammar, spelling, tense, reality in general)? I catch myself switching tense all the time. I try to catch it all in editing, but don’t always succeed.
9) What was your hardest scene to write so far and why? Pretty much all of Evermore because it’s Kara’s dreamscape with mixed references to Wizard of Oz and Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven combined with The Adjudicator’s last scene. I think it actually came out well, but it’s really different and specific, so it’s gotten low interaction.
10) Have your characters ever done something you didn’t expect, changing your plot completely? 100%
11) If you could converse with any of the characters, who would it be and why? I would be in awe to meet Kara or Lena. They’re iconic and these huge symbols for so many feelings and thoughts I’ve tried to convey, but they’re also very relatable characters who’ve suffered through much. I hope I do them justice with my writing. I know others do it so much better... I would also love to meet Melissa or Katie. I hope they know how many lives they've impacted for the better.
12) What are some of the tropes or themes that you find yourself returning to in your writing? Originally, I wrote a lot of mental health themes and hurt/comfort, currently it’s fluff and smut or rom-com. I guess it depends a lot on what emotional headspace I’m in and capable of conveying. Almost always there’s some angst, but I gotta have a happy ending. Whether I’m reading or writing. A happy ending always.
13) What’s your most important resource as a writer? Talking with other writers! I’ve been so thankful to meet so many great ones this year <3
14) Can you share some of your strategies for editing and revising your work? I do many rereads, before and after I post. I will go back and reread before I add more to a story as well, esp if it’s been a while since I wrote for it. I’ve also gotten someone else to read over fics from time to time.
15) Which is worse: making the summary, picking the tags, or the anxiety when you post your fic? All of that gives me anxiety lol
16) How do you define success for your fanfic - hits? Kudos? Comments? Bookmarks? Or just if you like it? I try really hard not to define “success” when it comes to my writing. You never know what other people are going to like or connect with. First and foremost, I write for me. Secondly, I write for the enjoyment of others. I like to see kudos, but ultimately it’s the comments that are most encouraging. Seeing even just 1 person connect with a story that I wrote… there’s no feeling like that.
17) Do you have a playlist for your favorite character / ship? I don’t, but there are songs or artists I associate with the characters, esp Supercorp- Taylor Swift, Hozier, Lord Huron… Not the question, but there’s a video edit by @talconnect with Running with the Wolves that fits perfectly for Kara. https://twitter.com/TalArtM/status/1658567350046674967 I love it.
18) If fan art was going to be made from your work, which fic would you pick and which fan artist would you like to create it? I recently commissioned a piece for one scene in I Believe in a Thing Called Love and there are a couple of other scenes in that one that I would have done. Really, I would appreciate any scene though. It would be an honor to have someone chose one of my works for something like that and I would be stoked to see any of it.
19) How many WIPs do you currently have? Active WIPs: 4 (What Has Been Lost, Wouldn’t It Be Nice, I Believe in a Thing Called Love, and Tis the Damn Season); Mayhem WIP idea to be started soon. A few others always percolating
20) What’s your advice to new fanfic writers? I had no idea what I was doing or that I even wanted to write when I started. You can’t improve until you try. You can’t learn until you make mistakes. Just try. I’ll keep Sav’s advice as well: Write for yourself. Write what you’d want to see. You’ll get better at it over time.
My fics: https://archiveofourown.org/users/Notta_Writer/works Tagging but no pressure: @itsalliebitheway @jetgirl1832 @flyingpotstickers @sneezewizard

Your blog seems really cool! IDK if you've gotten any requests yet. If not, I'd be honored to kick off the chain. My fic's called Fullmetal Alchemist: Reconnection, as you would assume, it's for the Fullmetal Alchemist fandom. Not by any means finished, only the first few chapters are posted. It's gonna be a longfic :)
Thank you so much for the request!! You’re my first official request, so I’m very excited for this :D
So! Fullmetal Alchemist, a show I really only know through fanfics. I’ve seen the first few episodes of each version, but I’m absolute pants about finishing shows, so I’ve never seen the full thing.
Overall thoughts:
I’ll give this fic 4 stars! The writing was solid, I’m really hooked on the story, and I’m looking forward to see how the mystery unravels! For someone who hasn’t seen (the majority of) Fullmetal Alchemist, I understood most of what was going on besides for some minor details. I’d love to do a follow up review once the fic is finished, so keep an eye out for that. I say, check it out!
More in depth thoughts down here vvv! Wanna submit a fic? Check my pinned post!
First impressions:
The summary definitely caught my attention! I don’t get to read em too often, but time skip plot lines are always pretty interesting. Especially one as long as this! 12 years is a big jump, and I’m interested in seeing how the characters react to that. Also, Mustang got murdered? What the heck happened there?? I’m definitely curious heading into this!
After reading:
Gonna try not to spoil anything (spoilers beneath the cut for specific thoughts!) but the fun thing about fics like this (tagged original characters, show I’m not super familiar with) is that I haven’t a single clue who is and who isn’t an original character. A pretty prominent example is the main group the fic starts focused on! I know Alphonse, Edward, and Winry, but May? Not a freakin clue. Overall though, none of the OCs stuck out to me like they didn’t belong in the universe, and it was all written pretty well!
As of reading this, it currently has 4 chapters and 16,603 words, and took me about half an hbomberguy video to finish. Besides for some minor things (whatever the heck Alkahestry is, some mentioned past events), I was able to pretty easily understand what was going on. It definitely helps that, since the pov characters so far have been pretty removed from where we are now, most things are explained to them. I’m pretty invested in the story so far, and I’ve subscribed so I’m looking forward to seeing how it all plays out :)
It’s also made me wanna check out more FMA fanfiction in general! Thank you for the submission :D

New rose chapter!!!!! Oh my gosh!!! I can’t express how excited I was to see that! I had just finished rereading glass yesterday and remembered how you told me I could subscribe to your ao3 to get notified— I very much did not expect to get an email notification the day after I subscribed (especially since it’s the first time I subscribe to an author and I wasn’t sure what the supposed notification email would look like)
I loved it a lot though, I’m so excited to be reading as the chapters come out for the first time even though I’m not used to not being able to read everything at once. I reread your big fics so so often that with your writing atp I’m used to doing my best to forget as many details and scenes so I can reread them time and time again and enjoy them a million times over but I always already know the direction it’s going in and what will be revealed and what the ending will be. But with this it’s the first time in a while again that I get to enjoy one of your big fics and I really don’t know anything about what’s going to happen, let alone the fact everyone else reading as well also doesn’t know what’s going to happen. It’s super fun and I’ve really been enjoying it so far!
I am always in awe as to how distinct you make each of your characters in every fic while still keeping the core of them consistently feel like *them*. It’s amazing to me seeing just how powerful the dynamics are that they are rewritten in so many different ways yet it’s still them, and I’ll always be impressed with how you manage to make each of them unique to each fic. I remember a whiiile ago when I was first reading your other long fics apart from clinic a friend asked me if I was doing it to pretend I was reading more of the characters in clinic and I was so surprised because it never even crossed my mind due to how vastly unique and separate they are from eachother. Like yeah, I’m still reading crimeboys— but even within world forgetting and clinic where they’re the same genre of au (and on top of that, both from Tommy’s pov) they’re so different and I’ll never get tired of it.
Anyways, I feel bad for how much I’ve rambled on now so I’ll end this here— in conclusion: love your writing and it was a great treat to get to read a new rose chapter :) !! Hope you have an incredible time next month :D
XIMA!!! omg that's so perfect I updated the day after you subbed to me. well now you know what the email looks like! you'll get one of those anytime I post anything to my ao3 now :)
I'm so glad you're enjoying reading along this time around!! though of course it makes me so happy to hear you reread my other big fics all the time and still enjoy them. I do also think there's something fun about reading along as an author posts. it's kind of like following a weekly tv show except instead of getting a new chapter every week right now my schedule is looking more like... once a month. oops. but it keeps you in suspense!
god that makes me so happy to hear. I always try very hard to make sure the characters feel distinct while still feeling like the same characters. I'm sure some bits feel repetitive after a while (like my routine for crimeboys bonding is pretty straightforward at this point I feel) but I try my best to make them as new and interesting as I can while still staying true to the core of the characters. like my different au characters all feel incredibly different from one another while still being the same characters in general. like I guess the closest two are stars!wilbur and rose!wilbur but even then they still have pretty distinct differences. but like clinic!wilbur is vastly different from like, most of my other fic!wilburs imo so while your friend is incredibly valid for wondering that it also makes zero sense to me lol
never feel bad for rambling in my inbox xima this made me so happy to see tysm. I'm so happy you're enjoying rose so far!!! and ty I'm very excited for my trip :D

The nitty gritty is watering down katara's character so she's just a meek girl ? Your lying If you really think that's the same character. The producers said they would take an axe to the main characters and that's where the show really suffers...also nothing is perfect people like you is why we get stuck with mediocrity
?? I finished episode 5 but what😭 how is katara just a meek girl, i feel like yes she has a little less rage but other than that she shows that shes smart and powerful and her own person? Explain what is watered down i feel like animation usually over-exaggerates facial expressions and voices for the most part, so i’m not surprised that katara has more subtle strength so far, and also the actress has a very kind face, but i think shes still able to show some of that anger. (I havent watched the water master fight yet so maybe thats where you’re talking about, so i cant speak on that)
Idk what taking an axe to the main characters means (like really cutting them apart? Cuz i doubt they would promote a show by saying its gonna be bad but who knows). But i feel like the characters are all pretty accurate with how they carry themselves, of course they’re younger so acting wont be perfect but i think the imperfections are what brings them to life. I know a lot of people hate the writing, i feel like it’s quite similar to the show? (Though its been maybe 3-4 years since i last rewatched it) and some lines especially from something previously animated are gonna sound awkward in real life, which is why generally i believe live actions arent necessary for any animation, though in this case i’m really enjoying just rewatching atla and my childhood be brought to life.
Nothing is perfect: ok i was using perfect mostly because i was very excited about it, of course i know theres things that could be changed to improve it but a lot of those things are impossible (like you cant get an actress thats EXACTLY katara and will make everyone happy, because shes a drawing) but overall, i think the landscapes come close to perfect (i’m just really into fantasy scenes and i think it’s so beautiful and impressive to see things like the omashu supply rail and the air temple come to life. And zuko’s boat looks so awesome and so accurate too.) And i thought the cgi looked slightly silly at first (especially air) but then i realized that we were always seeing drawings of aangs air in the animation which would look even stupider irl so i made my peace pretty quickly.
People like me is why we get stuck with mediocrity… hm. I feel like my opinion probably has nothing to do with what comes out on tv, especially because in this society haters have the real power, and you guys tearing it down are more likely to get it cancelled. I don’t think any production team takes an animated film or show and thinks ‘yea im gonna make this absolutely awful,’ (though i’m really not sure what they were thinking when making the pjo movie, its good as a standalone but they went so off course from the plot…) of course they’re all just trying to fit what they think into the show and express their own opinions, which are ultimately going to be a lot different than some people watching it.
Overall, ok i haven’t watched the og in years, so my memory on comparing each episode of the show to the live action is not going to be at the level of others (which i think boosts the enjoyability 100x over). But as i watch it, i remember tons of parts of the animation, and it makes me super happy that it has the same air as the show, albeit slightly more serious because they can’t fit all the funny filler episodes (if they ever created a live action lost appa episode i would lose it that cannot happen).
Maybe i sounded rude in my original post (i changed it quickly bc it was very angry at first lol) so sorry i know you’re all entitled to your opinion, it’s just i was SO EXCITED and then checked the tag on tumblr only to see that everyone hated it… i always feel inferior to people who really like films etc because i tend to enjoy things that other people hate, (like i really enjoyed the avatar way of water movie even if it was super long, and i know people DESPISED it). So maybe i seem like someone who is satisfied with mediocrity, and maybe i am, i focus mostly on the backgrounds and beauty of movies because im really into art and much less on acting and script (though i can appreciate beautiful characters, i was Blown Away by live action suki and hair down sokka my jaw dropped fr) i agree i am fairly simple to please in terms of this type of thing.
SORRY THIS IS GETTING QUITE LONG IM SURE U WONT READ IT ALL but i hope ur finding joy in life since live action atla is obviously not doing it for u
#avatar the last airbender#atla#JUST MY OPINION#take it all with a grain of salt#im quite bad at wording things sometimes

I hated “The Midnight Mass” Go watch “The Midnight Gospel” Instead
“Even though Midnight Mass does still contain plenty of overt horror elements, I think the series actually pushes Flanagan quite far outside the horror genre. If anything, I felt baited by this story, which plays within the modern horror sandbox while undercutting much of the ethos of modern horror via its embrace of Christianity as a source of hope and nourishment for lost souls facing an incomprehensible crisis. Many critics have found that to be a good thing, praising the series’ emphasis on the less sordid aspects of horror. Yet while Flanagan has every right to keep writing relentlessly hopeful stories, for horror fans like me, the effect of his optimism is frustration over feeling shunned as a non-believer — by the very genre that usually protects non-believers from feeling shunned.”
“Flanagan uses the plot of Midnight Mass as an allegorical stand-in for a broad range of extreme conservative reactions to the pandemic. On that theme, the series’ scathing reproach of Christianity’s enablement of hysteria, apocalypse mania, and survivalist extremism couldn’t be clearer. But if Flanagan wanted to condemn religious zeal more generally, he failed.”
“Midnight Mass makes several attempts to critique organized religion, yet the impression it leaves is that faith in God, and explicitly Christian faith in particular, is the ultimate pandemic comfort. The series almost entirely erases atheists, agnostics, and people of other religions by emphasizing its Christian worldview. “I choose God,” Hassan’s rebellious teen son, Ali, declares when he joins Paul and Bev’s new cult, as if he had not grown up worshipping God as part of his Muslim upbringing. The narrative wants to portray his choice as entirely wrong-headed, and he is quickly shown to regret his decision, but when most of the series’ other “good” characters are also making choices based on their proud faith in the Christian version of God, the implied falseness of Ali’s choice doesn’t sink in.”
“There’s plenty of room here for homages to movies about religious doubt such as Winter Light and First Reformed, but apart from Riley being a lapsed Catholic, dragged back to church at his parents’ insistence, Flanagan barely touches on religious doubt at all. Instead, he repeatedly places such an excruciating emphasis on faith in the divine as a form of ultimate reassurance — explicitly a Christian faith above all else — that Midnight Mass becomes a homily. Multiple long sequences where the whole town gets together to sing Christian hymns seem to serve no narrative purpose except to remind us how comforting God’s presence is and that worship is beautiful. While there’s a climactic effort to enfold atheism and agnosticism into a revised definition of “god,” similar in spirit to Angels in America’s famous ozone monologue, it comes far too late to shake the series’ Christian-centered worldview.”
^^ So: This Up Top. ^^
I’m an atheist, even before I wasn’t an atheist, I self-identified privately as a Deist from high school and then after college started privately self-identifying more and more as an atheist (I’m still very much in the closet about it). My gf is a very secular Muslim (does not practice at all). We both found the show’s heavily Christian overtones and erasure of both of us to be both incredibly offensive, and at the same time horror taking a back-seat to portray mainstream Christianity’s most toxic ideas was super off-putting and we ultimately couldn’t finish this show. Between the islamophobia (more like hey we’ll just hate him because he’s Muslim), and the atheist ~actually telling someone what happens when you fucking die~ being casually brushed off by a belief in the afterlife because of some “supernatural-ish creature” and a whole town being brainwashed by a cult: It could’ve been handled better and it just wasn’t. The writer does a far better job stating this, and I encourage you to read the full article, but this really isn’t Flanagan’s best work.
We didn’t need this, we needed something better.

Writing For My Faves
Note ; Getting back into the swing of things and all (both writing and now reading the series itself), I thought it might be nice to start off by writing about some of my favorite characters! These guys are gonna be from all over the place, so bear with me here-
>> GORDON AGRIPPA
Yeeeah like this one was even a question-
I don’t think I really spoke about it much before my hiatus(es), at least not on here, but he’s part of the reason why I really caught interest with the series. Yes, probably one of the quietest characters that (so far) hasn’t had much screentime has lived in my head rent free since I started. My brain really looked past the popular, flashy characters and went ‘ah yes, this one’. Am I mad about it? Definitely not <3
Literally the sweetest mf to ever exist. Even if Gordon’s not too well-versed in relationships and is more than a little awkward overall, it’s obvious that he’s trying. His methods of showing affection might be a little unconventional, but that’s kinda the charm of it right?
Remember the little part where it’s revealed that he makes tiny dolls of the rest of his team? Yeah, you’re going to be joining that collection.
It’s pretty likely that Gordon’s going to be at least a little self-conscious if you two go out together. It’s nothing against you, there’s no doubt that he adores you, but his family doesn’t have the best reputation. It’s easy to pick up on the whispers, the eyes that follow you both. It’s unnerving for him, so please, bring him back down from that anxious spiral.
He also really enjoys quiet nights with you! Whether it’s both of you doing something together or you two are working on separate things in the same room, spending time like that is really nice.
>> DOROTHY UNSWORTH
For someone who was quite literally asleep for a majority of what I know of the series, I’m a little surprised that she grew on me so fast. While I don’t know her backstory (if it’s even revealed in the current story) her powers and upbeat, playful attitude weren’t what I initially expected.
In a relationship she probably wouldn’t act too much differently. It would be pretty often that she naps leaning against your shoulder or holds your hand, sleeve, or just you in general when there’s somewhere you both need to be. Dorothy is perfectly capable of guiding herself when she’s sleepwalking (or whatever it would be classified as), but she finds it nice to have someone there.
Other dates and hangouts consists of both of you spending time in that dream realm she has. What better place to spend time than somewhere that can literally become anywhere?
Still, though, it’s also good to actually go do something instead of slipping into dreamland. In that case Dorothy would prefer something a little more mellow - something like a walk around the forest trails or simply window-shopping. Also nap dates, nut, y’know, staying active is also important-
>> SOL MARRON
I recently got to the point in the manga where Sol first shows up and I’m legitimately so excited to see her pop up again in the coming arcs. Her magic is super interesting and her backstory/reasoning for joining the knights is really compelling imo.
She’s your own personal cheerleader - loud and energetic, Sol’s all too happy to encourage you whenever you need.
I could see her showing off a little here and there. Sol knows she’s strong, of course, but watching your reaction to a particularly impressive spell of successfully pulling off something equally stunning gets her a little bit giddy.
Is also super protective of you. If anyone even thinks about giving you trouble Sol’s right there to help you. Even if she does occasionally go overboard, the only thing that matters to her is that you’re okay.
Sol is also pretty physically affectionate! It’s all too often that she had an arm around you, or a hand in yours. She’s also a fan of surprising you with cheek kisses. Overall she’s pretty spontaneous with her affection, so be ready for that-
>> RADES SPIRITO
Honestly Rades is a difficult one to pin down. Overall he’s a bit of an asshole, very cocky and more than a little selfish, but under all that is probably someone a little softer. He’s obviously pretty beat-up over being vilified for his magic, and while the concept is definitely… morally wrong at best, he definitely has power.
Around you Rades doesn’t act too different on surface-level. However, he’s a little softer with you in private. He’s loud and confident in the presence of others, seeming to always be like that, but in the presence of one of the few people he trusts, Rades is more vulnerable.
Just like he brags about his own abilities and power, he’s just as likely to show you off. I mean this both in he’ll literally do so but Rades also has a habit of boasting about his lover’s abilities. Even if your magic isn’t all that impressive, he’ll find a way to make it sound like it is. It doesn’t stop there, either. If you have another talent he’s also not going to shut up about how good you are at that.

8 Anti LO Asks
1. i love ppl who are like "wow persephone looks so mature now!!!" ma'am she literally looks the same, all of them do. the only person who looks different is hebe and she's just a hera clone now. i swear they just make up whatever they want to see and claim it as fact.
2. //FP..
I find it dumb that some people are gonna be like "Persephone is 30 now so her romance with Hades is perfect now" like, buddy, she could be 70 but she has barely lived like 1% of what Hades has lived, and why do I care if she's 30 if she acts and looks like a 19 y/o, if you're gonna use that 3000-year-old-l*li argument, then her romance with Hades, a +2000 year old guy, is creepier from the begining
3. Teen Hebe looks exactly like her mother, RS really has no understanding of character design smfh
4. NGL I'm kinda impressed with just how bad S2 has been. IDK why its this way, RS' lack of writing ability finally being too obvious to ignore? Her refusing to listen to her editor? Her being lazy and stealing ideas from other comics/fanfics/theories like she's done before? General burn out? Writing herself into way too many corners and her now flailing/burning it all down to doing whatever the hell this is? Who knows, but it's shockingly bad.
5. Def my favorite thing the stans try to do is claim the comic is actually “super diverse” and they post like .. one panel of a non-name nymph that’s drawn bigger or whatever and claim that’s actual representation. Like no?? If you can’t even name the character and they can easily be cut out of the comic with nothing being changed, that’s not representation at all. Far from it actually.
From OP: Exactly!
Reminding me of the ‘RS is normalizing breastfeeding’ posts I saw recently. It’s literally Ancient Greece, of course the nymphs with babies will breastfeed. I’m positive they haven't developed formula in the mortal realm. I don’t think getting excited over it is a bad thing at all but it’s disappointing because it’s the bare minimum.
6. gotta love GOTTA LOVE RS having persephone say her attitude when she was 7 years old was "internalized misogyny" like... I swear I could hear her thinking "hmm how can I address all the criticism I've been getting in the vaguest way possible?" like something about that moment feels very performative, as a way to throw a crumb to those with valid criticisms of her fantasy racism and complete double standards when it comes to the women she portrays
7. Not sure how this will all be handled in part 2 of season 2 (badly probably considering how bad the first few chapters are) but I think what ultimately bothers me so much about fans attacking and criticizing Demeter is that she’s not proven wrong.
What I mean is - when someone decides to do an overbearing parent storyline, typically they are supposed to show how the parent is right, but also wrong in not letting the child do something. Demeter not letting Persephone interact with Olympus was done because she felt Olympus was bad and would hurt her child - she is proven right because the gods use and abuse each other (especially women) and treat Mortals, Nymphs, Shades, and other non-gods as expendable trash.
However, what we don’t really get is Demeter being proven wrong. Sure, Persephone finds a friend in Eros and falls in love with Hades - but Hades is basically a romanticized, rich, slave driver that treats everyone around him badly. Eros doesn’t respect Persephone’s choices and forces himself into her business quite a few times. Persephone’s only real female friends, Artemis and Hera, also don’t really treat her well either. Artemis completely misreads her and Hera literally tries to set her up with her ex lover even though she’s barely an adult.
What we really needed to see was some positive aspects of Olympus- Hades actually being a decent person, Persephone finding true friendships, maybe groups that help lower-class beings, or Persephone finding something good at her university- something that proves to Demeter that while Olympus can be dangerous, it can be good too. I’m just not seeing the good at all, and that’s what makes it hard for me to paint Demeter as an abuser. If anything, all I’m seeing is a justified mother and a bratty, man-obsessed daughter who doesn’t respect her own privileged upbringing.
8. How can "the other kings became kings because they took advantage of a fertility goddess" make any sense when Uranus is a sky god just like Zeus (sky-->rain-->fertility) and Cronus is literally an earth god, he carries a sickle fcol

watched the first episode of chong zi and i wasn’t impressed: the questionable editing choices aside, it felt like a candied version of the plot that i was expecting and the setup felt really generic (less so because of the tropes themselves and more because the execution felt lackluster). it’s only the first episode, so i may check in for a few more to see if anything changes, but so far i can’t say i’m mustering up any interest even though i was really looking forward to this one.
i did also check out a league of nobleman, which i put on pause a couple episodes in. while the show is absolutely gorgeous and i like both song weilong and jing boran (the latter’s voice!), my inexplicable love for mowen isn’t enough to stop me from nitpicking the pacing and writing of the show, which generally feels less interesting and compelling (partially because of said pacing) than similar sleuth of the ming dynasty or under the microscope, where all three dramas can be said to be of a kind: super-genius male lead dedicated to solving mysteries with his male sidekick(s) in a historical setting. it still looks decently interesting and my friends love it, though, so: into the show i go once again once i work up the interest.
and speaking of under the microscope, i love this show a couple episodes in and am dying to see more of it right as we speak: the show is utterly stunning and the writing is captivating and compelling, and the actors do so much to bring life into the story. the editing and pacing is very good (i only remember being thrown off once or twice), and the story, while elaborate, is very linear: excellent for anyone who wants to dabble in a political-legal-mystery drama in a digestible format. just really great overall.
i did also check out wulin heroes and wasn’t generally interested but may go back to give it a second look; i had the same general complaints as i did with chong zi in that it felt like a very stereotypical wuxia and though the focus on the romance was less apparent to me, i tend to prefer dramas that feel more character-driven than plot driven, which i think is what slightly dampened my enjoyment of the still-enjoyable blood of youth and made me obsess over accusedly ‘slow as a glacier’ the rise of phoenixes. atmosphere is everything!

So, I finally watched Velma.
Before I go any further I just want to make something clear, no I’m not defending this show against criticism, nor am I trying to convince you that it’s some sort of hidden gem. I’ve watched all the episodes that have been released at the time of writing, and in all honesty, I think Velma is pretty mediocre.
Not good, but nowhere near as bad as people are making it out to be. So, if you just wanted my honest thoughts about Velma, there you go, you can stop reading now, go back to whatever it is you’re currently doing. As for everyone else, get comfy, because this is gonna be a long post.
I wanna get the positives out of the way first, I genuinely like the show’s artstyle, in an era where every single “adult” cartoon has to look like Rick & Morty, this show stands out from the rest by having its own unique artstyle, that being said, Norville does look weird whenever he’s facing forward. But that’s a minor nitpick.
Kinda wish the quality of the animation was a bit better though, but it’s an animated show made specifically for streaming, so the animation quality was always gonna be so-so.
As for the characters, I didn’t find them as unlikable or annoying as other people did - mostly because I never really had that much of a personal attachment to the Scooby gang to begin with - though if I had to pick a favorite I’d have to go with Norville, I find that his optimism and general good nature is a breath of fresh air, as I’m so sick of every modern adult animated series having every character be an unlikable asshole or a complete dumbass.
Nevertheless I do agree that the “Look at how much of a loser Fred is!” jokes got old real quick, and I’m saying this as someone who doesn’t even like Fred. But those jokes weren’t bad enough to make me want to quit watching.
As for the other jokes, they’re super hit and miss, I do feel like if the first two episodes just toned down the raunchy/”meta” jokes then the backlash wouldn’t have been so bad, because there were some jokes that made me chuckle, like Brenda’s funeral, Norville’s hair brained schemes to win Velma over, the school fighting tournament name being too long etc. But sadly, those types of jokes are few and far between.
Oh, and the hallucination sequences are pretty cool.
Now that we got the positives out the way, let’s talk about the negatives. I really don’t understand why this show needs a recap at the start of each episode. Did the showrunners think people were gonna watch the show out of order? Or did they do that because they were planning on airing the show on Adult Swim in the near future? Either way, it’s super annoying.
Also, I really hate how the show just awkwardly cuts to the end credits. I know Harley Quinn also did this, but it’s way more noticeable here. Almost like the end credits are trying to jump scare you to death.
But I think my biggest issue with the series as a whole is its obsession with trying to be as “meta” as possible, it really got on my nerves, to the point where I legit wanted to yell out “I get it! You’re self aware.”
Thing is, I don’t mind meta humor. Archer and American Dad are two great examples of how to properly implement meta humor into a sitcom narrative, but what makes those two shows work is that they’re not trying to impress the audience by showing how smart they are.
Simply having the characters point out tired old cliches and tropes isn’t clever, it’s taking the easy way out. I honestly wouldn’t have minded this as much if Velma was the only character who was making “meta” references, but every single character does this. To the point where I was expecting someone to look directly at the camera and say “Are these self aware meta jokes doing anything for you?”
Look, I get it, the reason why they’re doing this is because of Rick and Morty, a network executive most likely looked at the meta humor from that show and said “Do that for a Scooby Doo spin off aimed at adults.”
If the show would just tone down the “We’re so meta” gimmick and put more effort into fleshing its characters and story out, then I honestly think it could be pretty decent. But as of this writing, it just feels like it’s struggling to find its own identity.
Who knows, maybe the writing will get better down the line, but as of right now it’s a mess.
Alright, time to talk about the “controversy” surrounding this show - because that’s all anyone wants to talk about - so here goes……
I don’t give a shit about any of this culture war nonsense, nor do I give a shit about these Twitter threads over analyzing every single joke, and I certainly don’t give a shit about Mindy Kaling or her political views, so why am I bringing any of this up? Because the discourse is annoying.
It’s okay to just admit that you don’t like the show, or that you think it’s “cringe” or whatever, but all this discourse has become unbearable. You cannot go anywhere online without running into someone complaining about the show. It’s Ghostbusters 2016 all over again, and I’m just so tired.
I’m tired of the internet latching onto a piece of media and creating never ending discourse about said media, I’m tired of seeing people who genuinely liked working on shows/movies get bullied and harassed. And I’m just tired of people being unwilling to say “Wow, this looks like shit” and moving on with their lives.
Yes, no media should be immune to criticism, but going out of your way to ruin someone’s livelihood because they created or worked on something you hated just makes you an asshole who deserves no sympathy.

How would FO4 companions react after finding the Jamaica Plain treasure? https://youtu.be/TmLr99nQaUA
They’re walking outside and they notice SS holding a bat they saw in the treasure vault
Some random feral comes in and tries to attack
But SS swing at them and the Feral goes flying about 6 feet, dead.
A moment of silence passes and SS goes with as smirk on their face, “Look like I found the treasure.”
How would they react?
Fun little story: I accidentally stumbled into the backdoor to the treasure on my first playthrough when walking around. I threw the bat on the ground because I thought it was useless. I am stupid.
Anyway, the reacts. Anon set this up pretty well, so I'll just go off that.
Fallout 4 Companions React: The Treasure of Jamaica Plain
Cait: “Ok, I gotta get my hands on that. If I ever saw me parents again, I’d punt them off into the moon. No, the sun. Damn, that thing is incredible! You’re one lucky lass.”
Codsworth: “Keeping your enemies far away was never easier, now was it? Ha ha! I suppose that you’ve been using sir’s old dumbells, have’t you mum? I’m sure you have. Soon, you’ll be a true body builder! A strength champion! A macho muchacho!”
Curie: “Every day, your apparent superhuman abilities become evermore present. Surely you do not expect me to believe that it’s only the bat itself that is causing this spike of power? I suppose that the wasteland never fails to amaze.”
Danse: “Soldier, you may have remnants of that ghoul’s body all over you. You know that standard Brotherhood practice is to use laser weapons, as to turn enemies into ash. This is disgusting, even if mildly impressive. Only mildly impressive, though.”
Deacon: “Ok, now I know it. I’m gonna make Nora action figures. I mean, you’ve got superpowers and a magic baseball bat that can send zombies flying 60 feet away? Who wouldn’t want that? I would’ve played with that toy as a child. We can use the profits to build a second Prydwen. This one will be three inches longer, just to piss Maxson off. Deal?”
Gage: “I don’t even know what to say anymore, boss. It’s not like I have a real personality to draw from and honestly I think that OP is just gonna stop writing me into these reacts all together because, lets be honest, no one would miss me. Anyway that’s a cool bat, I guess.”
Hancock: “Imagine using that thing with a dose of Psychojet. Man, we gotta get down to Diamond City and swing that bat around like it was always intended. A swing and a hit, right on McDonut’s ass.”
Longfellow: “I may have come from an amazing DLC but I’m just not an interesting character. I’m a grandpa, baseball, old world, fog bad, yada yada. Why am I here again? OP never wrote about Ada and I’m maybe 11% more interesting then that sentimental robot.”
MacCready: “You gotta show that off to Duncan. He loves baseball movies, and those are all scripted. Imagine what you could do with thing if you actually had a decent pitcher? Best hitter in history.”
Nick Valentine: “I know it was way after his time, but I’d like to think that Mickey Mantle himself once used that bat. I’d love to meet him in person. We’d drink some Chock Full O’ Nuts and just...chat. Maybe the old world wasn’t so bad.”
Piper: “I keep telling you this, but the next time you’re gonna channel Zeus and Jackie Robinson himself into your weapons, please let me bring the camera! These moments are too precious to leave in our minds. And by precious, I mean FREAKING AWESOME!!!”
Preston: “General! I can’t believe I have to tell you this for the eleventh time! Put down the supernatural wooden stick and go help the Slog! I got a report from a definitely reputable source that the Slog has a Ghoul problem! Go help them! Come on!”
Strong: “Little lady has bat that can hit Ghoul far away. Little Lady is stronger than Strong brother? Stronger than Super Mutant? Strong need to have existential crisis now. Little lady should leave Strong alone to rethink his life.”
X6-88: “How many times do I have to tell Father that even though he wants to pretend like he had a normal life he can’t leave a highly advanced baseball apparatus just lying around. We get it, you are traumatized and wanted a father to play ball with because the cruel reality of 21st century geopolitics denies you this opportunity, but you can’t just let this shit sit around. Not ok.”

Ok, my turn to do a Crystalized Review
...instead of working on my essay that’s due tonight. It’s fine though, screaming about the new episodes is way more important dsklgfhjsk.
General spoilers for Ninjago Crystalized episodes 1-12 under the cut.
First of all, wow! I had heard we were getting a teaser or a trailer today, but honestly fully expected to get another 1 minute teaser or something. I did not expect to wake up to nearly half of the much anticipated season slapping me in the face from LEGO’s official YouTube channel.
It was a surprise, but certainly a welcome one. I think the only thing I could wish for is for them to space out the releases of the episode just a bit more (maybe 2 new eps a day or something), because I have absolutely zero self control, and have already sacrificed several hours of productivity to binging a lego show on a Friday morning/afternoon instead of writing an essay, doing homework, and going to a Pride event asklsdhg.
I want to go over the overall impressions first though. One of the things I absolutely love is emotional delivery of these new episodes so far. I just mentioned it in a recent post, but the humor has just been spot on. All the little jokes and one-liners have had me cracking up. But it’s not even just the humor that has landed really well, it’s been all the range of emotions. When the audience is meant to feel sad about a certain scene, they do. When the audience is meant to feel a foreboding foreshadowy feeling, they do. Same with excitement, and everything else. I can’t speak for everyone of course, but I think the general quality is absolutely sky high, even compared to a lot of the other Ninjago seasons! The writers are doing it right!
The plot itself has been super interesting too. Episode 1 starts us off, saying it’s been exactly one year since Nya merged with the sea, which man, brought so many feels. The team has definitely struggled to cope though. I love how Cole’s kinda stepped back up to be the leader, in Lloyd’s place since he’s really grieving, poor kid. He really is the rock of the team. Zane shutting off his emotions really hurt augh. Guess all those “over-analyzing” posts were really onto something haha. Kai training kids to automatically attack a new foe and pulling up a fricken Kalmaar cardboard cutout had me in stitches. And Jay just slightly going insane, living in the Lighthouse and talking to tap water was both a little funny and very tragic. Everyone is pretty in character; nice writing, writers.
I was really hoping to get an episode about Nya and her time merged with the sea, and was delighted to see that be the case only 2 episodes in. I must admit, I’m a bit surprised she regained her memories and attempted to reconnect with her family so soon in the season, but it definitely serves as a major plot driver farther down the line, so it makes sense for it to happen when it does. I was SO excited to see the return of that gorgeous water dragon. And omg, Nya meeting Nyad was such an incredible scene. Nyad attempting to help Nya find herself again despite being fully lost to the sea herself, just aughhh feels. And Nya seeing her own memorial lanterns and that serving as the trigger for her to regain her memories of her family and of herself ohh my godddd. Beautiful, emotional, perfect. She came back exactly one year after merging; that just aaaaahhhhhh.
I’m frankly flabbergasted that I hadn’t even considered the possibility of using Aspheera’s elemental draining powers to return Nya back to her human form, especially after seeing the ninja break her out of prison in the trailers, but its frankly ingenious. Also ahh, Skylor’s back!!! :D Great way for her to join in on the party.
Pixal, describing how long it would take for anyone else to build everything and then building all of those vehicles and mechs virtually overnight is such a fricken power move. Such an absolute queen!!
Omg and the neon ninja just being themselves and trying their best is very hilarious. I love how the ninja are just slowly becoming more and more annoyed with them. Wonder if they’ll ever unmask. I’m sure they well at some point, but personally think they’re all new characters that we haven’t seen before.
The way the ninja sacrificed and risked so much to bring Nya back just brought so many emotions I wasn’t prepared for. And how Lloyd said breaking the law and getting arrested was worth it to bring their sister back im cryingggg. It was a very satisfying way to bring Nya back, drive the plot forward, and bring a lot of emotions to the table.
The whole set of episodes about the ninja escaping Kryptarium were also very good! I really liked having that Zane-centric episode (episode 10: The Benefit of Grief), and him learning to embrace all of his emotions, even the bad ones. Sally was an absolute joy, and I hope to see her again at some point, hopefully as a very successful pop star in Ninjago City!!
Also Fugi-Dove totally has a crush on Jay and no one can convince me otherwise. His heartfelt sacrifice to allow the ninja to escape was so good omg. I was definitely not expecting that!
The Crystal King is certainly appearing to be quite the formidable villain. Plus that reveal at the end of episode 12... oh daaang. I didn’t even notice the foreshadowing, but now that I’m aware of it, it was so obvious. I loved it!!! Fantastic reveal/plot twist, even if a lot of us were already aware of Harumi’s return. Can’t wait to learn more about what happened to her since we saw her last.
Anyway, this was just a summary of my first impressions and an outlet for all the feelings I was experiencing as I watched the episodes. All in all, despite holding several surprises, I think this was a fantastic start to the season. It’s been very strong in terms of writing, action, plot, and animation, at least in my opinion. I’m really looking forward to getting the next set of episodes soon!!

Sonic the Hedgehog Movie 2: POTENTIAL TEST SCREENING
A couple weeks ago, a Reddit User under the name “Madethis4Sonicmovie2” created a post discussing their test screening experiences on the second Sonic the Hedgehog film. Throughout the discussion post, the Reddit user explains that they are not a Sonic fan. Most of what the user writes was how they’ve interpreted the scene and their understanding of the lore through some games that they’ve played. That, and they also try to compare some of the scenes to DBZ, a franchise that they’re much more familiar with. The user also make it a point to state that they view themselves as a “harsh critic,” though do apologize for it. They’re also not used to critiquing children’s media, which they also state a few times in their post. If they’re not clear on what they saw in their test screening, they ask for the reference meaning to the Sonic Community. The Reddit user also says that they did see the first film and greatly enjoyed the second one better.
Even though they believed for the film to be a generic kid’s film, they believe that this film will appeal to fans and non-fans more than the first one did.
There wasn’t much of a summary to go other than reading about the emotions and some of the trivia that they’ve seen. Most of the film was still in its post-production stage. Some scenes were not complete while others needed tweaking on lighting and shading on the CGI characters. The overall impression that they’ve received from the film was that it was very enjoyable with much more world building. Because it’s done a good job with explaining certain scenarios to the audience, the Reddit user believes that it wouldn’t be hard for outsiders of the fandom to understand. The only thing that some audience members would struggle with in the film were the inside jokes that long-term fans would understand.
With this in mind, this is what the Reddit post detailed. Keep in mind that these are spoilers.
Key Notes:
The moral of the movie is “if you believe in yourself, then anything is possible!” On a side note, the Reddit user believes that this theme applied more to Tails rather than Sonic, stating that Tails has a moment where he gains enough courage to help Sonic fight.
Though the Reddit user does debate that Sonic has more confidence in himself than he did in the first film. He’s still the “Sonic” seen in the first film, him being a kid, but he’s learning to understand the role of being a superhero.
There is placeholder music and licensed music in the film as well. No mention so far of Crush 40 appearing in the film.

The Reddit user explains that Jim Carrey nailed the role! They also explain that Dr. Robotnik is a complete maniac.
(This is an open definition to viewers. It could range from comical to something darker).
Dr. Robotnik invents a teleportation device.
Dr. Robotnik also dresses in black clothing like he did in the first film.
The Reddit user supports this remark by detailing a scene where Dr. Robotnik loses his cool a bit when returning to Earth and complains about how he was outsmarted by a “rejected Dr. Seuss character.”
Dr. Robotnik does create Badniks and references them as “Badniks.”
The Reddit user gave the example of the motorbug looking like a motorcycle with a ladybug exterior. Buzzbombers look more like wasps.
There is a “robot version of Eggman.”
Metal Sonic does not make an appearance. The Reddit user does believe that G.U.N. may have hinted that they’re building Metal Sonic.
It’s also important to note that there were no mentions of Silver and AmyRose in their screening.
There are heavy nods to Sonic Lore, specifically with the echidna tribes. Most of the lore is explained in either flashbacks and/or with echidna lore.
Most of the time is spent on Earth, but we do see other planets. Sonic and Tails do travel all around the world.
The Reddit user also says that we see more of Sonic’s world when Dr. Robotnik tries to teleport back to Earth.
There are heavy nods to both inside and outside references of the Sonic Franchise. Due to their experiences with the franchise, they inform other Reddit users that they couldn’t share and explains all of the references.
However, they were very happy with Sonic fans when hearing their feedback and learning what some references are.

At this time, the voice actor/actress for Tails is still undetermined. The Reddit user said “it was like Tom Holland, but with a higher-pitched voice.”
Sonic makes a remark saying, “You’re too slow!”
Sonic makes a remark saying, “I’m not a rat! I’m a hedgehog!”
Knuckles makes a remark saying, “Knock, knock scrambled egg.”
(The Reddit user explains that this scene in the movie was also very enjoyable).
Sonic and Tails bond over how they know Longclaw in the film. The Reddit user explains that this is their favorite scene in the movie.
Knuckles has an American-like accent, not a British one.
Sonic encounters Tails on a run, but “freaks out” when he sees another alien creature like him. Sonic also freaks out when he sees that Tails can almost match his speed while running.
There is a funny scene of Sonic enjoying his alone time at home, even showing a montage of all the things that he shouldn’t do when Tom and Maddie are at home.
(Think of the montage scene from Home Alone (1990′s).
The Reddit user explains that Knuckles was exiled from the clan for freeing Longclaw as a prank with friends.
There is an artist in the movie that tries to draw Sonic. To Sonic’s discovery, he sees that the artist drew his 2019 design and plays “Gangster’s Paradise” on the radio.
The Reddit user states that they believe that this is the crew’s nod to the original design.
The Reddit user says that there were scenes in the movie that they felt like were more of a placeholder in the film. The reference to Gremlin Sonic being one of these scenes.
Tom and Maddie do go to Rachel and Randall’s wedding.
There are several action scenes, but the Reddit user explains that the most enjoyable ones are when Sonic and Tails fight Knuckles a couple of times.
And with the action scenes, there are many Quicksilver references that Sonic does as well.
On top of that, the Reddit user explains that each character has their own unique abilities. (For example, Sonic is associated with having powers cater to the element of lightning).

Longclaw is alive in the film, but she’s aged and weak.
Longclaw sends Tails to Earth to retrieve Sonic due to her wanting him to safe.
Sonic stays at home on planet Earth, but is supplied with many rings to travel back and forth to visit Knuckles Tails, and Longclaw.
Sonic being a living chaos emerald could be true, but the Reddit user explains that an emerald was sealed inside of Sonic after being born.
Chaos emeralds are not referenced as “Chaos Emeralds” in the film, they were referenced as just “emeralds.”
However, the Reddit user does recap that there might be a name and they didn’t catch it.
Super Sonic is not referenced as “Super Sonic” in the film, but as something else.
Super Sonic can fly in the film and doesn’t need all seven Chaos Emeralds to go “super.”
Sonic references Tails as “Miles” a few times that they meet, but later gives him the nickname “Tails.”

There is a post-credit scene. The Reddit user believes that it’s a heavy nod to Shadow the Hedgehog due to the there being multiple clones modeled like Sonic that G.U.N. has made.
Due to this post-credit scene, the Reddit user holds hopes that there will be a third movie soon.
As of now, the Reddit post is still available for you to read. The Reddit user is mindful of the NDA and purposely phrased some of their spoilers to be vague, but knows that their thread may be removed soon. I know that these may sound fake, however, there have been individuals in the past who have viewed the first film and proved to be right. Like many of you, I hope that this is a real but I will remain cautious. If these facts resurface as being false, let’s not attack the individual. The only that should matter is that we’re excited for the second film. Be mindful that they’re a human being as well. Treat others the way that you would like to be treated.

SFW Alphabet - Diavolo
I love Dia with all my heart, so I thought it was finally time I made a post for him
A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)
He is probably one of the more affectionate characters. Not many people are willing to get this close to him due to his status, so he is all over you the second you give him permission. His favorite form of affection is when you sit on his lap while he works.
B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)
Him as a best friend is a lot of fun. He’ll constantly sneak out of the castle just to hang out with you. He’d probably also wear those silly disguises so no one recognizes him. You two go all over the Devildom and he takes you where ever you’d like. In the end, you two usually get busted by Barb or Luci, but it’s always worth it.
C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)
Cuddles are literally his love language. He’s always coming up behind you and lifting you up into a hug or dragging you off to his room just to cuddle in bed. Being the prince of literal Hell can be so tiring, so cuddles are exactly what he needs after a long day. And once you two get into bed, you’re never leaving again.
D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)
He knows that he can’t settle down, but he would love nothing more. Honestly, if it weren’t for his responsibilities, he would have already dragged you off to some secluded house in a forest somewhere to just live in peace. It’s also thanks to his status as prince that he doesn’t know any basic household chores. He cannot clean, and he can barely cook without burning down the whole kitchen. He’s had to rely on Barb and his other staff for so long, that he’s just never had to learn. He wants to, if only to impress you, but he never has the chance.
E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)
I don’t think he’s ever even been in a relationship tbh, so he’s never had to break it off with someone. If he did have to, it would be bad. Like, I’m talking literal execution in front of everyone in the Devildom bad. He is a very patient demon who is very caring towards basically everyone. If he actually had to break it off, there would probably be blood. We don’t talk about it.
F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)
As prince, he does technically have to find a spouse, so he’s down to get married if you are. However, the whole point of getting married for him is so that his partner can carry his heir, so if you can’t get pregnant that might be a problem. Not with him, not at all, but more so with Devildom law and such. Afterall, he needs an heir, and he can’t let someone have it if he isn’t planning on marrying them. He’d still marry you regardless though, so there’s nothing to worry about there.
G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)
He is the gentlest giant you have ever seen in your whole life. He knows how big he is, and he knows how intimidating he can be, so he is very careful to make sure you know you can trust him. If he ever gets mad and feels like he might start yelling, he makes sure you are well out of range so that you don’t have to hear him. He also makes sure he never hugs you too hard or startles you without warning. He just wants to protect you, and that includes protecting you from himself if needed.
H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)
A sucker for hugs, that’s what he is. It does not matter how, when, or where he hugs you, he just wants to, always and everywhere. If you’re in a place where he can’t out-right hug you, he has to be touching you somewhere. He’s lowkey possessive, so he loves any contact just to show others who you belong to. Hugs are just the best way to do that since they’re super obvious. And he also just loves you a lot and wants you to know.
I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)
He’d say it relatively fast. he’s not one to waste time or lead someone on, so if he knew he loved you, he’d say it. He wouldn’t even care if you don’t say it back, he just wants you to know how he feels about you.
J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)
He gets insanely jealous, but he’s always good at hiding it. With all of the public appearances and people he’s had to deal with, he’s become a master actor. Inside, he could be fuming with jealousy when someone so much as looks at you, but no one will even know. He just puts on his classic smile and ask you to go with him somewhere for some “business” you have to attend. In reality, he just wants to drag you away for some cuddles to remind him that you’re his and you love him above all else.
K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)
His kisses are usually rather soft cause he’s so afraid of accidentally hurting you in some way. They’re sweet and gentle, and so full of love. They don’t come as often since of how much he works, so that makes them all the better when they do.
L = Little ones (How are they around children?)
He actually loves children, but they’re always so afraid of him. No kid would ever go up to him due to pure fear, so he never gets to interact with them. It really does make him quite sad since he would love to get to know the younger generation more, and he just finds them adorable. Maybe you can convince one (1) child to talk to him with the promise of candy after.
M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)
He has to wake up pretty early for work, but he always makes sure you’re still comfy before he leaves. If you wake up with him, he’ll talk to you about what his day will be like while getting dressed. If you’re still asleep, he tries his best to stay quiet as he gets ready. No matter of you’re awake or not, he makes you stay in bed and brings (read: makes Barb bring) you breakfast in bed.
N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)
He’s usually pretty tired by the end of the day, so he wants nothing more than to just pass out with you in his arms. However, he usually still has work to do even after dark, so he’s forced to stay up. During these times, he loves when you come over to him and just sit there while he works. That usually motivates him to finish up faster so that he can get cuddles. Once he hits that bed, it’s lights out for him.
O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)
He seems like he would be an open book, but he really isn’t. Trust me, he’d love to be as open with you as possible, but he can’t. There are so many things he has to keep hidden due to his role as prince. Plus, he doesn’t have much to share since he can’t really get out much to being with. He tells you as much as he can, but he always has to stop himself before he goes too far.
P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)
He is super patient. He’s always having to deal with less-than-ideal situations, so he’s built up a good amount of patience. Usually, he’s pretty chill, so when he snaps, it’s for a good reason.
Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
Quite honestly, his head is already filled with so much, so he can sometimes forget things you tell him. That’s why he has Barb write stuff down about you so that he won’t forget. He keeps all of these facts in a journal in his room, and you have no idea.
R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
He loves the first time you stayed over at the castle for the night. Not that time when everyone went over, but just when you came over. He was still busy with work at the time, and he loves how understanding you were about it. There was a short time where you left his room, and he was worried with how long you were gone. He was about to go look for you when you walk back in with some tea and snacks to help keep his energy up while he’s working. It was this moment when he knew he loved you. The fact that you cared this much for him really made him happy.
S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)
He is more protective than anyone else. The entire castle staff will be told numerous times over that their number one priority is now to protect you, much to the annoyance of Luci and Barb. He also makes sure to keep you close whenever you go out, and he’s always touching you somewhere.
T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)
He would only have the best for you. Every date you two go on will be the most romantic thing you’ve ever witnessed. He would only calm down if you mentioned you prefer more lowkey dates, in which he immediately apologizes for not asking you first. He still wants to make them the best dates possible, but he’ll try and calm down a bit.
U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)
He tends to overwork himself, often leaving you alone in favor of finishing his work. He also gets way too overprotective sometimes, even going so far as to drag you away the second he gets jealous.
V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)
Like Luci and Barb, he only really cares about his looks because he knows he has to keep up appearances. He has to make a good name for himself, and looking good certainly helps. Barb also constantly pressures him into taking better care of his looks when he starts slacking off.
W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)
It honestly depends on how close you two are. He’s used to people leaving him because they can’t handle being so close to the prince, so he might not even care if you leave him too. It’s only if you two have gotten super close that he might feel something if you were to leave him.
X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)
Okay, so, this came completely out of nowhere, but I have always lowkey had a headcanon that he and Barb were in a QPR before. (for those who don’t know, it means queer platonic relationship). Anyway, I have no clue where I got this idea from, but it just makes sense to me. They probably broke it off once he showed romantic interest in you, but I promise they were in a QPR at one point.
Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)
He wouldn’t like someone who would try and drag him away from his job. He wants someone who understands what it means to be the prince of the Devildom, and that includes them being aware of how much work he has and that he can’t just drop it all without planning even if he wants to
Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)
He’s bog, even for demon standards, so he tends to take up a lot of room. Honestly, he’s the kinda person that would spread out across the whole bed without a single care for who else might be in it. Let’s just say, you’ve fallen out of bed several times because he accidentally pushed you out.

Alright, back from seeing Black Widow, my first movie in an actual theater since this whole Covid nonsense blew through. (For the record, the last movie I watched in a theater was Birds of Prey.) Thoughts below.
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
You have been warned.
This movie should have been released 4 years ago. Considering everything that has gone down with Infinity War, Endgame, and the TV shows (specifically Falcon & the Winter Soldier), it was somewhat jarring to slingshot all the way back to the period just following Civil War.
On the whole, the action was...okay. Marvel, for me, has always been about the characters more than the boom-booms, and while it was great to see Natasha and Yelena kicking ass all over the screen, it didn't quite have the same immediacy as the hand-to-hand fight sequences in Winter Soldier, which I personally hold as The Standard for Marvel fight choreography.
The best parts of this movie came in the quiet moments, which there were a surprising amount of, considering some of the pre-release criticism had excoriated the film for weighing down the scales on the action side, which I didn't find to be the case at all.
So, chemical subjugation as opposed to straight-up brainwashing. We didn't get too much background on this, beyond Melina's pig experiments, but I'd be interested to see if they expand on this concept (and the antidote) in future media.
(And imagine if that chemical were combined with the serum - Zemo (and Bucky) would have apoplexy. I know there hasn't been much Winter Soldier/Red Room crossover in the MCU thus far, but that would have...legs, I think.)
Speaking of super-soldiers, Red Guardian was fantastic. I laughed. A lot.
Now, he does boast in prison that he fought Captain America in the 80s. Obviously, this was not Steve, as Steve was still doing his best frozen dessert impression in the Arctic at that point. Two possibilities come to mind here (and yes, I realize he could be bullshitting but let me run with this): firstly, (and this is the one I think would be most accurate for MCU projects going forward), is that this might have been Isaiah Bradley. The timeline fits and he's had a solid enough introduction in FatWS that it wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination. My second idea (which is admittedly a lot more fan fiction-y and something I posit solely for the angst angle) is that this "Captain America" was actually a Bucky/Winter Soldier who had been dressed up in some approximation of a Steve costume and made to act as "Captain America" for propaganda/training/observation purposes with the Red Guardian, Bucky's handlers knowing he would be able to emulate Steve's fighting style and vocal cadence, especially with the right manipulations. (Yup, there's a story in there which I will not be writing but would totally read.)
Also, along the line of super-soldiers - what is Red Guardian doing in 2025? Because Zemo would have probably wanted to have a word or a bullet or two.
So Dreykov's plan was to take over the world at his leisure through brainwashing and global assassins? Ehhhhh...didn't love that part, it really felt like Vanilla Hydra-esque World Takeover Mambo #9.
This being said, the scenes with Natasha and Dreykov were some of the best in the movie outside the family shenanigans. ScarJo got to show some real range there and it worked.
And this leads to the social commentary about women in the film. It's funny, because I feel that it was both very well-done (Natasha/Derykov, the forced hysterectomy conversation on the helicopter) but also wholly hamfisted (basically everything with the nameless mass of other Widows and Dreykov's far too pointed, Ebeneezer Scrooge line about controlling the "excess population" of women). The film, as a totality, did well by its female characters, allowed them to be messy, to kick massive ass, didn't touch any kind of forced romance, and definitely communicated how men can exploit women (and young girls). But Marvel (at least in the films - the TV shows tend to be more nuanced) is still not quite getting that balance right and have a habit of tipping into the "tell" (more like instruct from a soapbox) not "show" messaging strategy.
Taskmaster was...okay. Her introduction and first few scenes were cool, as was the way she emulated many familiar fighting forms (I caught Bucky's knife flip, Hawkeye's shooting, and Natasha's whole...thing), but in the end, she was a generic villain of the week, kind of like Ghost in Antman and the Wasp. I really didn't care one way or the other what happened to her.
Anyone else feel like we didn't really get much of an explanation re: Bucharest Budapest even though we kind of got an explanation about Bucharest Budapest?
More of a general cinema comment, but I've been watching all my streaming with captions the past year or so (which has helped me immensely, because sometimes the mixing in these is just not good) and I missed having them here, as a lot of characters tended to deliver lines somewhat sub rosa, and it wasn't always easy to track what was going on.
The family dynamics and Yelena's character were highlights. Gotta find that "cool" away to die.
Interesting that Yelena is already working for Val in the post-credits. Wonder what kind of organization she's setting up there. (Gods, I love Val.)
I will say that Natasha had a lot of wonderful character moments in this film, and it really bridged the gap between the Captain America movies and her Endgame character.
I'm always a sucker for a found family trope. No complaints there.
On the whole, great character moments in the quiet sections, forgettable action (although I'm still figuring out the whole nerve/bashing your head on the table thing), decent meta-commentary but far too removed from its real-life timeline. 7/10
