Laurentius curses under his breath, then reprimands himself inwardly for cursing in front of Anri, then follows that up with another silent scolding for assuming anyone that capable with a sword would be offended by a muttered swear. The crash of the second firebomb against her shield pulls him out of his head long enough to crouch low behind her, using her raised shield to keep himself covered as well.

It wouldn't do, getting hit by one of those artificial flames. No pyromancer worth his mud would let themselves get burned that way.

He finds a moment in between one of the volleys to return - quite literally, and with some enthusiasm - fire. The sphere arcs up and over the battlement, and two of the bastards go down for a second time, thrashing their way over the rampart and out of sight.

By the time Laurentius and Anri have neared the next bonfire, he's already got a flame up and flung toward the crossbowman menacing them from the other rampart. His aim is quite good, and saves Anri the trouble of having to buff out a dent on her shield from the impact of a crossbow bolt later.

He still flinches a bit each time he conjures fire, certain that she was going to reveal an aversion to heresy that had heretofore survived his previous displays. But no - whatever Astora had instilled in Anri, it wasn't a strict adherence to dogma, that was for certain. Or maybe it had, and pragmatism had won out regardless.

Or maybe she just likes you, Laurentius, mutters some sullen little part of his conscience.

"Wish the hollows knew how to stay still," he grumbles. "Half the trouble for us and them, you'd think."

Ahead is a small bonfire - a waypoint between the bridge up from Firelink and the way toward the Parish. It isn't their final destination, and Laurentius is loath to tempt fate any further; he's already had a knight in shining armor show up to save him, and thus he considers his luck for the time being expended.

But she's already suffered through some desperate horror on her part for his sake, and kept him safe besides. She ought to make the call.

"Here - there's the bonfire there, and then a short trip to Firelink. Want to take a rest or press on, Miss Anri?"

One of the biggest things that makes me see Leo as trans is absolutely the size of his carapace in comparison to his brothers’.

And I’m not talking about height! I’m specifically looking at his shell here, because when you compare him to the others, particularly Donnie who is nearly the same height as Leo, it’s very clear that Leo’s carapace is much longer in proportion to the rest of his body.

Like - standing side by side, even though Donnie is shorter his carapace ends noticeably higher up than Leo’s does. And I like this not only because it really helps push the idea that Leo could very likely be trans (or intersex!), but it’s also just a fun design difference between them.

(It also lends way to future scenarios of Donnie eventually getting taller than Leo, but sitting down still has Leo being the taller one haha.)

Y'know, in all the hype for Xenoblade X DE, one thing I've been thinking about is how amazing this must feel for the people at monolith, specifically the ones who worked on the original game.

The Wii U version was fantastic but was heavily trimmed down from what was initailly planned. The thing about that is a lot of the new stuff we saw in that trailer is cut content that was either shown in the original game but not delved into or stuff we know about because of the artbook. The new skell Hresvelg, the Ghosts, the new floating area, Neilnail and her twin skells, Elma's partner and the original ares, all of it.

I can't imagine how it must feel for the people at monolithsoft who were there working on the original game, knowing how much it had to be trimmed down, now getting the chance to not only revisit the game and add back in that cut content bringing the game far closer to the original vision, but also having a decade worth of player feedback to look at to, hopefully at least, make the game even better than it's original vision.

I imagine some stuff like the improved font and UI and the built in Overdrive guide were at least partially out of necessity to make the game work better from a design standpoint on Switch, but you cannot tell me they aren't at least aware of common fan criticisms when they specifically chose to draw attention to something as otherwise mundane as a Flight Module Skell jumping. Like come on they know.

the art im making is for if mdzs was an ace attorney game, playing from WWX's POV to solve various mysteries/cases over the course of the plot. so this scene would be from turnabout goddess, which would loosely cover the dafan mountain mystery.

the problem with splitting novel!mdzs into turnabouts is that flashbacks are a huge chunk of the book but they don't have mysteries/ cases to solve so they've gotta be lumped together with present day stuff. imo? many of the flashbacks would likely have to be abridged so they could be retold ala DL-6, SL-9, or the fourth grade incident, where characters talk about it over some pieces of art. this is really difficult when theres a metric ton of unspoken, complex, and signifcant history between every character lmao

there's not as much of a problem with the cql timeline but i have not finished it. so.

the opening cutscenes in ace attorney always show the murder and/or the murderer plotting. the first cutscene of the game would be MXY summoning WWX, muttering about getting revenge on his family (it would also be good for him to mention the yllz being dead because that's how the novel starts.) cut to WWX's POV as he wakes up covered in blood and the investigation segment begins.

for investigations of monsters (goddess, saber, etc) the cutscene would be a scene of some poor throwaway cultivator getting their shit wrecked.

it would be cool to make a breakdown for JGY but again I need to review that scene cause I don't know who I'd base him on. maybe Vasquez or Dahlia.

ok so, Pause is the land and sky wild life (any local bird species and local mammal), Etho is underwater (fish and one arctic fox because spirit reasons), and Beef is any domestic animal.

In last comic, Beef refers to time when humanity didn't exist (and he as well), meaning that they couldn't speak in words.

Yeah... that means Etho and Pause are kinda ancient. Btw they don't have these names, but I don't have any clue what to name those guys... It would probably be a nickname, or maybe i can just look in my local language vocabulary to merge some up xD
