It's no surprise that the Ancients get bored. They are immortal and have all the time in the world to complain about it, sadly Danny joined them after he was crowned.

Their monthly meetings are divided into three topics: Taunting the Observants (Clockwork's favorite topic after they were demoted to helpers, assistants, and other menial jobs), talking about the safety of the Realms (quite peaceful if just as chaotic), and argue.

They- really had nothing to do, and their hobbies eventually bored them. So Danny had a brilliant idea (read: he saw it on a TV show) and decided that they should all become mentors and save one of the dimensions.

Clockwork was about to say that was not a good idea, since it was the same as throwing giants into a world of ants but he needed some fun so he kept quiet. He showed them the dimension of DC and how it was continually being destroyed, the King told them to start their project in that place and select someone.

Clockwork selected Flash because he felt vengeful, Nocturne selected Tim Drake for the same reason, and so they went; each one of the Ancients selecting a "champion" they were going to teach. Although their selection reasons were quite absurd (being that they were selecting their opposite poles or just someone interesting).

Danny being a spirit of protection, selected Jason Todd and secretly Billy Batson, because he was the king and could break the rules (Clockwork rolled his eyes at the comment). The question now was, how did they appear to them and avoid the world's myriad routes of destruction?

Well at least they weren't bored anymore

along with the inferi in the cave when Regulus goes there is one creature that doesn't grapple with limbs or scratch skin it shape shifts instead to lure people toward the water making it impossible for them to escape and when Regulus goes to the cave he's sitting on that island for a long time knowing he can't leave, knowing it's only a matter of time, he's exhausted and cold and suddenly James is in front of him bringing his hand to his cheek and talking to him in a soft voice Regulus goes into the water willingly.... he'd follow James anywhere

Ik I just posted about this but I have huge thoughts about how the dynamic from the books were Marius chooses to take Lestat as a pupil who he is unusually patient and kind to over Armand who he continuously discards and mistreats and underestimates despite there history together will translate in the amc show. Now there’s another layer where Lestat is a blonde white boy who looks strikingly like he could be Marius’s biological son and Armand is a person of color who was also Marius’s literal slave and yet still saw himself as Marius’s adoptive son 😬 this is all made even more heartbreaking considering how Armand is constantly trying to recreate the dynamic he once had with Marius bcus he is desperate to be given purpose and guidance and Lestat hates authority and is chronically incapable of following orders 💀 one of these two ppl clearly r looking for marius’s guidance, and meanwhile Marius will always choose lestat. hm I wonder why.

thinking about how IWTV loves to play with the theme of master and servant. thinking especially about that “yes, maître” and how armand’s first appearance onscreen, for almost the entire duration of s1, is in the role of louis’s “rashid.” thinking about how, when I first watched s1, it jarred me a little to see the authoritative, almost imperious way louis spoke to “rashid,” even after having endured to lestat’s tyranny himself, not to mention the tyranny of white people. it jarred me even more to realize that that had actually been armand—the ostensible love of his life—taking louis’s orders, bowing his head, saying things like, “I serve a god.” was that a strange and uncomfortable performance for the ancient leader of the paris coven? or was it perfectly natural for someone whose past means he defaults to the role of the subordinate, the submissive, the servant? is the relationship between the master louis and the servant rashid in fact the truest, rawest representation of the core dynamic between louis and armand?

Aracnist's UDIMO

There's not many conversations about it and what people mostly chalk their UDIMO (animal/item suitcase form) up to is that it represents the arcanist as a person. Like symbolism to their personality.

But I also like how it also reflect how they're raised and what their upbringing is like.

The main ones being people raised under the Foundation, or taken it at a young impressionable age, are all dog UDIMOs. Sonetto, Horrorpedia, Medicine Pocket. Arcanists that are likely taken in by the Foundation before their arcanum has fully manifested. They're all dog UDIMOs so far. (It could as be a jab at Pavlov reference to having experimented on mainly dogs, which is fucked up) And even arcanists like X is a lil lab rat UDIMO.

I find it fascinating that UDIMO has so much more symbolism to them than just their nature as a person, but also reflects their upbringing and overall viewed by a greater narrative.
