HI OMG THANK YOU!! yes they do! not aware of the whole game aspect (except Tutorial Agent who is Very Aware of All Of It), but the skills are often aware of meta things in my fics and headcanons, where they acknowledge things like skill points, tasks, giving harry choices, check difficulties/successes/failures, and a few other mechanics (usually when it'd be funny tbh hgdhjf, i find a lot of humor in leaning into the fourth wall <33)

for clothes specifically, i have a whole bit in Meet the Parts where they suit up in Shivers bonuses so they can go talk to her hjkgjgs

1. She loves hiking, digital art, graffiti, and making music! She has a tablet in her drawstring bag that she often draws/animates on and it has one of those beat making apps that she uses ALL the time. Ah, and she loves Origami (she learned from the foot clan)! She tends to make little Paper cranes and write little messages in them. Said cranes will be EVERYWHERE. On Donnie’s tech telling him to hydrate or something, on the leftover pizza box claiming the last piece, in Leo’s room notifying him that she stole his left overs, etc. (and sometimes theyre just for fun and don’t have messages written in them)

2. (Love this question SO MUCH) when she is standing for awhile she’ll start raising herself up on her tippy toes then back down (kind of like a little bounce that doesn’t leave the ground) and when she’s sitting she often finds herself practicing wrist/hand exercises (half the time she won’t even realize she’s doing it). Oh and when she’s sitting and listening to music she’ll tap her fingers as if she were making the beat in one of her apps (imagine clicking arrow keys on a computer to the beat of a song that’s basically what she does [heheh I used to this all the time])

3. Hmmm I’m not sure yet? Probably a mix of darks and pastels. Also not sure on the favorite color yet! I’ll make a r colored ref hopefully son tho :D

4. At the moment I’m kind of think she wouldn’t have one… like mainly she uses hand to hand combat if she’s in a fight? Idk (oh or maybe she specializes in origami ninja stars!)

Mikey:

ART. They both have a passion for art, and while Mikey is more of a traditional artist, the both of them end up drawing together all the time. I imagine since both of them are the shorties of the family they climb up on each others shoulders to graffiti places in the sewer they can’t reach ^-^ (also they’re both the youngest siblings, they want independence, and they don’t like being babied <- all of these things come about for Peni after realizes she’s their sister and they start treating her like the youngest)

Leo:

They bonded over cooking …and by that, I mean Leo’s lack of skills and Peni’s bizarre recipes! Peni’s favorite food EVER is gummy worms, so naturally, once she heard of a Panini she switched out the meats with tons of gummy worms and cooked it. Leo walked in on this moment of genius and was HORRIFIED. He ragged on her about what a disgrace of food that was and she would fire back talking about how Leo can’t even make a SANDWICH without something burning. It sort of became a running joke with the two of them that resulted in Leo nicknaming her “Nini” (oh and in case your wondering, Peni LOVED the gummy worm panini, and Leo tried it and was surprised it wasn’t that bad, but he would NEVER admit that)

Donnie:

They bonded over tech and music! Peni didn’t know a whole lot about it but she was the second most tech involved person in the family so it worked out great any way. It’s a similar dynamic of smarts and crafts except Peni has more technical knowledge than Mikey. Peni will occasionally hang around the lab and check in on what Donnie’s working on, give some ideas, have an awesome idea for a new project, etc. and she also is Donnie’s go to person when he needs blue prints drawn! Oh! New idea! Perhaps Donnie builds her a piece of Holo-tech (like his little holographic screens) that serves as a literal 3D art program! Of course, she also uses it to make even BETTER blueprints for Donnie. And her and Donnie both really like electronic music, and Donnie likes listening to the beats that Peni makes :D

Bonus idea! I think it would take a while for Peni to even have a chance to connect with Donnie. After the invasion, Donnie would spend a lot of time in the med bay, but he mainly stayed in his lab after that. And after everything that happened, Donnie was just not open to talking to this complete stranger that broke into his home :/

Raph:

I think during the invasion Raph would be the one Peni talks to the most (since Raph was the least injured), so they sort of just naturally became close. Peni has someeee medical knowledge but not enough to help with the more serious injuries of the others; she would let Casey jr. take care of those major injuries while she took care of the more minor things. Raph was extremely worried about his brothers and was completely lost in the medical field so Peni would also help explain how they were being treated and what was wrong (I imagine Casey would be pretty blunt abt it which would not help Raph haha). Oh! PLUSHIES. As we all know Raph LOVES plushies (I’ve seen some stuff that’s canon abt it but I definitely headcanon a corner of hid room is filled to the BRIM with them), but lil ol Peni, having lived on the streets her whole life, never owned any (tragic, I know). When Peni first saw Raph’s mounta8n if plushies she grabbed one shoved it in Raph’s face and demanded to know its name IMMEDIATELY. From that day on she loved plushies and started gathering them for her own room (though she never got nearly as many as Raph)!

P5 Step Siblings AU

So to be clear, the "Thieves" all meet in high school, so before that there's just bits from the three/four individual families and such. So, I'll give you some of those bits

Niijima/Kitagawa/Ishiki

So, I've got stuff for the three wives in this. As stated in the first post, Aichi Niijima is an EMT, spending odd hours at work, the smarts of a healthcare worker with the athleticism of a first responder. It's her goal to always be able to pick up her kids, no matter their age

Sayuri Kitagawa is an elementary school art teacher, who also gets featured in galleries, a lot. She never paints the faces of her children, so they're not plastered everywhere, but they're still on her works from time to time. She is ill, but she keeps moving onwards

And, Wakaba Ishiki. She still researches cognition in her spare time, but after falling for the artist she kept seeing painting in Shibuya, she's settled more. She's a high school technology teacher, and is the one who fights to have Goro in their care

Just. Aichi walking around on her off days with at least one kid clinging to her at all times, if not all of them. Sae is always most reluctant, especially as a teenager, and to convince Goro all anyone needs to do is a little reverse psychology

Her carrying like, 10-year-old Makoto on one side, Yusuke aged 9 on the other, and little Futaba at 8 on her back as she cooks, cleans, etc

Sayuri holding Makoto close during storms, and telling her stories to distract from the fear, never diminishing it or anything. She does the same for Futaba, when the world doesn't make sense, holds her tight until she's back to herself, and. She kisses each of their little heads each morning and night, even when they're not so little anymore

Sakamoto

Poor Tsumiki Sakamoto, raising two wild children. Ryuji is a handful on his own, with his endless energy and innate rebellion against authority, but Ann? The two combined just keep making the other Worse

Like. The best example is their first day of high school, they meet the others cause they're sprinting, convinced that they're late cause their Mom set the clocks a half hour ahead. So, they're actually early

They both love movies, so every other week she uses some of her own paycheck money to bring them to see something, snacks and all. The Takamaki money goes towards food, clothes, rent, etc. her own money goes towards making sure they have the best childhood she can give them

When the power goes out, she builds a little fort in the living room with them, with a flashlight and she reads a book, Ann and Ryuji acting out the different characters. By the end they're out of energy, out cold in the fort, unafraid

Tsukimi fosters Ryuji's love of running, and Ann's love of acting. She helps make Ann's costume for a school play, and switches shifts around at the ramen shop to get to attend the school sports festival and cheer Ryuji on for his first wins

They're not super well off, but they're happy, and loved

Sakura

Sojiro had a few different foster placements before his first foster fail. None of them stay with him for too long, just a step on the path, that's all. But then he gets this little, thin, seven year old girl, who's case was all over the news, because her father was a big CEO

Haru was nervous and shy at first, but he cooks her dinner and lets her watch, asking her to taste test. And, she has her own room, and the door doesn't have to stay closed

Plus, he gently carries her when theyre on the train, letting her hide her face in his shoulder. He keeps the media away from her, until the case is old news. And each month, he brings her to talk to her mom, at a small, high end graveyard

Haru fucking loves Sojiro. She's selected for an adoption viewing at one point and she just- cries. Tells the worker she doesn't wanna go, don't make her leave her dad, and

Sojiro cries. She called him Dad,

Akira gets placed with them after a couple years, when he's twelve and Haru thirteen. It takes him longer to settle in, he's, older than Haru was. Been through a bit more. But, he melts into place there, and soon he's got his own apron to wear while making dinner with his dad and his big sister

And, they get a cat. Akira and Haru find him when walking home from middle school, and don't tell Sojiro at first. Then he finds the cat, and it's that, "dad who didn't want the cat" situations. He buys him little sweaters and shit

Sojiro gave them both the option to keep their old family names. Haru asked to change hers to Sakura the night he formally adopted her. Akira asks after a year, before Sojiro had a chance to reveal he was adopting him

And, they look like a perfect little family. Akira looks strikingly like Sojiro, and his curly hair matches Haru's, so

Bonus: Hasegawa

Now, this is Zenkichi here, so he's all emo cause his wife died. But, he has to be even stronger, cause he agreed to take in the daughters of other victims in a similar case he's convinced is connected. Twins, little gymnasts, older than his daughter

Sumire is quiet for a long time. She and Kasumi share a room, but she opens up first to Akane. Akane asks if her hair is really red, and Sumire nods. Akane says it's her favourite colour

The twins are in middle school, and Akane is pretty young. They won't move to Tokyo until the twins start high school, so they're out in Kyoto?? Anyways. Sumire bonds with Akane before opening up to Zenkichi, and Kasumi is more social, but she doesn't truly open up until she sees Sumire looking comfortable. At home.

Then, Sophia. She's found by local police with no ID, no memories, just a jacket with her name stitched into it. Zenkichi, who already has three daughters, takes her for the night at first, while they work stuff out

She, stays much longer

They joke that she's the missing third twin. ("It's called a triplet", Zenkichi corrects, causing his three girls to laugh. "Twin three!" Akane cheers, the older two following after. Sophia smiles and cheers too. "Twin three!")

When they do move to Tokyo, all three start high school at Shujin, meeting the others for the first time

the list is endless, but here are a couple of them im super passionate about:

• Charlie Brown taught Sally sign language (ASL) all throughout her childhood. She can ‘speak’ full sentences fluently and DEFINITELY uses it to her advantage (signs curses when the teacher isn’t looking /jj). The signs come in handy when Charlie Brown goes non-verbal (selective mutism)

• Lucy has terrible hearing and has had to wear hearing aides since she was like 5. Charlie Brown keeps stressing that she should learn ASL in case of emergency, but she always refuses (“I’d rather DIE than have to learn English again.” /j)

• Schroeder and Patty are cousins; his dad and her mom are German/Polish. Schroeder’s mom is black (Somalian) and Indian, and Patty’s dad is Swedish and Kazakhstanian. Patty bonds over Schroeders love for German history and loves teaching him about their family heritage (schroeder zones out until beethoven is mentioned)

• Lucy has a separate birth dad (Balkan) than Rerun and Linus’ dad (Irish). All three of them have the same mom, who I think is a Chinese immigrant who moved to America (along with their “blanket hating Grandmother”). Linus and Rerun are both “Rainbow children”, due to their mother losing a baby before Linus was born

• I saw somebody on tik tok say that Snoopy was Filipino-American, and honestly i cant unsee it /hj

• Marcie was born in Korea and was adopted by French immigrants in America. She grew up primarily learning French and a little bit of English due to the books in her house. When she met P. Patty at the summer camp, she was taught the ins and outs of American culture and still relies on her every once in a while (marcie calls her “sir” solely because she didn’t know the feminine English pronouns for an authoritative figure)

• Frieda and Heather (the little red haired girl) are half siblings. They share the red hair and the sharp nose trait (i think theyre both roman-italian bcs of it). Heather has the coveted “nAtuRAllY CuRLy HaiR” trait as well, she just burns it straight every single morning (i like drawing it frizzy asl)

• Violet is of Native American descent (mother’s side) and Black Irish (father’s side). When she first moved in in the comic (1951), she lived with both parents, but around late 1951, she moved AGAIN, so that makes me think her parents got a divorce between those two moves. Her mom quickly married a British person (ew /j) who hated all the tom-boyish crap violet was always seen doing, so he started to push his uppity customs onto her. This, I think, is why she’s so upset at Pig Pen all the time for him being messy, despite her literally being OBSESSED with mud-pie making in her first set of comics. She just has a random change there, and a different (british) influence is the only explanation /j

• Franklin LOVESSS space and science. He aspires to be an astronaut when he grows up. He often gets in arguments with Lucy about the validity of aliens existing, and it’s one of the few things that REALLYYY tick him off. Lucy revels to see him so stressed out, but she also likes getting the last word in.

• Peggy Jean (who? /jj) and Schroeder are besties, i think. They bond over talking crap about the other peasants and Peggy loves pissing him off. They have a kind of sibling relationship, where they outwardly insult each other and wish the lather were dead, but lets be real, they would die for each other.

• Peppermint Patty is originally from Australia and met Roy through a foreign-exchange program (Roy is originally from India). They were besties at camp and when P. Patty’s dad decided to live there, she offered to let Roy stay with them. They lived together for a long time until Roy moved out with his parents (now in America) and they kinda drifted away. It’s just whenever I recall that one scene in “He’s your dog, Charlie Brown” when Roy is in P. Patty’s house for some reason, im always confused, so this is canon now/jj

4n@ t1ps - restaurant edition

- when you know youll be going to a restaurant the next day/end of the week/some time soon, check the online menu. If its a fast food chain, they have the nutritious info on their website. If its a local/small restaurant, they probably wont have the calories for each dish, but you have time to calculate it yourself :)

- ask your friend/sibling/parent to share a menu. This always works with my friends because it saves money for both. Also, they hardly notice how little you're eating because theyre so focused on what THEY are eating. Just make sure you touch the food with your fork when they do, even if just to cut something, move it around etc

- leave some food on your plate. If anyone asks, just explain that the portions at the restaurant are way bigger than youre used to

- if possible ORDER SOUP!!!! soup is SUPER filling, and veeeery low in calories. You can find a big bowl of soup for 150-200c.

- get something shareable. If you know your sibling/friend/parent/wtv likes a certain food (if theyre obsessed with french fries for example), make sure you give them like half of yours, offer them big bites of your food

- say you dont like the food very much, or that it makes you sick. Its very normal for people to feel sick after eating at a restaurant (especially if its exotic food, sushi is the most common in this case). Say the cream in the lasagne is too heavy/maybe spoiled, say the sauce is too spunky

- order something spicy and then tell people its too much to handle. This used to happen to me accidentally, and it always works, because everyone understands

- drink waterrrrr or coke zero, nothing else.

- if theres an option to change the sides, always switch the fries for rice (extra points if its carrot rice or something) and ask for a side salad.

- if anything you ordered has sauce (any sauce at all, some restaurants put barbecue on their meat and ranch/gravy on the potatoes), ask to get the sauce ON THE SIDE!!!! its easily 200kcal youre avoiding just by not having your food dripping in sauce

- tell the waiter youre allergic to butter. When i worked at a restaurant, when customers were allergic to something, the entire meal was cooked in a separate pan, with alternative oils, or in a grill with no oil at all. Extra tip: if you dont want to say this in front of your parents, just let the waiter know when you go to the bathroom to wash your hands, but make sure you tell them as soon as possible, so they dont start cooking your food)

- if you order french fries, ask if its possible to have them without salt. If you want, you can add salt afterwards (they have the little packets), and that way youre sure its wayyy less.

you know the last time i did this ship bingo thing someone asked me about franflam too and i just flat out refused to respond because i didnt want to touch the discourse with a ten foot pole. either me putting my opinions here will get me cancelled or it will summon some people hopefully sane about this discourse. i love gambling

to preface, my honest opinions on the matter are that whatever the hell those two got going on in canon is queerbaiting. i say this as someone who bought star allies on a whim at gamestop as their very first kirb game like two years after it released, not even knowing kirby still made games at that time, and thus played the game with zero biases towards anything but yeah those two were written with a weird attachment to each other and it would be stupid to outright deny that. do i think franflam is canon though?: absolutely not and also i hate everyone who claims that with a passion. you could make a claim with a reasonable amount of evidence for either side of the argument and the fact that its even remotely possible both could be true at once, along with kumazaki himself either refusing to elaborate or confirm, or giving even More support to Either side is absolute bullshit and any sort of grey area here is totally his and the writers faults so hey can we all stop arguing about what the "correct" answer is when there literally isnt really one

anyways with that out of the way, heres all of the reasons i hate franflam without mentioning "potential incest" as a concern even once

their dynamic in canon is stereotypical angry black woman is overprotective of stereotypical dainty elegant white woman. hate that. gives me bad vibes. the whole "to show one character is in love with the other, they talk about their love interest nonstop every half second" trope is absolutely HANDS DOWN my absolute least favorite romance trope EVER. it drives me absolutely insane. thats the #1 way to get me to hate both of the characters and their relationship the fastest. holy shit shut up and focus on the story and whats happening around you instead of shoehorning mention of the other person into your words nonstop. hate that. i also hate the "person a is overprotective of their love interest" trope too, esp when it extends into jealously of the other person hanging out with others (sparkling pupupu world does this, for example). feels gross. can feel infantizing. if people see that as romantic good for you but i can not see it ever. its overly possessive. i think having a trio of mages and having two of them being separated and off fucking around on their own all the time as their "happy ending" is bad writing, especially when it comes to zans character being so heavily affected by her isolation from others and how hyness treated her AND YOU JUST GO AND SEPERATE THEM INTO FRAN+FLAM AND ZAN+HYNESS ALL THE TIME FOR SOME REASON HELLO. JUST MAKE ONE MAGE CHARACTER IN THAT CASE IF TWO OF THE TRIO HAVE NO DEVELOPMENT OR PURPOSE OTHER THAN TO FUCK OFF BY THEMSELVES. and then people who ship franflam also often end up shipping hynzan cause of that EWWWWWW GROSSSSSSS. also fran+flam being more close because the jambacult is a broken family that needs to heal Or them being more close because flam is an overprotective older sibling are INFINITELY more interesting to me as concepts than: "fran+flam are closer to each other and not zan because theyre dating and thus inherently dont care about zan as much because platonic relationships are always secondary to romantic". hate that. and the fandom. oh my God as people might be able to tell by all of the arrows on the bingo sheet i have fucking FEELINGS about this this needs a whole new paragraph

okay so. so 😍. i have this thing i call "red flag ships" where the ships are fine as a concept on paper but for some reason the shippers are just absolutely Rancid and that throws me off from liking the ship in its entirely and i get really sussed out by anyone who ships it. franflam is a red flag ship. i think the shippers have gotten so used to being yelled at by people who think theyre siblings that theyve pavlov'd themselves into being insanely hostile and aggressive to anyone who doesn't ship them. at least thats what i can tell from anyone whos Open and remotely loud about shipping them. istg i am not joking in the slightest when i say 95% of my interactions with people who Happen to be big or even decently into shipping franflam have been godawful. the convos dont even have to be around franflam i just think the ship inherently attracts awful people because its only aggressive toxic people who arent scared about shipping it openly. is that generalizing?: Yeah but thats just my personal experience. i have never met someone loud about liking franflam or who makes content for it that wasnt an awful asshole or yikes person in some way

that said, people who really like the ship but are quiet or lowkey about it usually end up being super chill and cool. its just the goddamn Fandom i have an issue with really. so anyone whos normal about it i am so sorry for you lmao

in a somewhat unrelated manner, i used to be somewhat close with someone who had franflam as their ultimate otp and God they fucking sucked. apart from redirecting every convo ever to be about franflam, they were also insanely nasty to anyone who even remotely saw them as siblings because they inherently saw it as an attack against franflam, so theyd always be making comments like "can you believe anyones stupid enough to see them as siblings" and "kinda misogynistic and lesbiophobic that metadede and marxolor are more popular than franflam when franflam is so blatantly canon" and yadayadayada they would say that shit completely unironically even right in front of me when they knew i hc'd them as siblings. i could complain up enough of a storm about that person and all of the insane things they said and did to fill up another 10 paragraphs but in general they were awful and really awful to me and multiple friends and you know what. i fucking hate the ship because of that too. sue me i cant stand seeing it around and i get grossed out by it.

other notes about them: -misato has always known kimiko and was actually there when she was born. she was eight. likewise, kimiko attended her sports festival before she transferred into the general course in high school. fuyumi and shouto are still very close for this to happen. -the red hair gene is equally strong, as kimiko has red hair and hitomi grows strands of it in her own hair naturally. misato has white streaks instead because her hair is naturally blue. -arguably, both misato and hitomi are not fireproof in any way shape or form. kimiko is. -hitomi is the Cool Older Cousin^tm. misato is constantly wrangling the two of them in. hitomi and kimiko race a lot while kimiko is still training her flashfire quirk. -all of the girls have rei's eye trait (note the eyelashes along the bottom half of their eyes), and are angular similar to enji's. after that, their respective other parents' genes take over, which is why they look similar enough but not quite. -both misato and kimiko attended UA, with the former transferring from the support course to the general course in her second year and the latter in the hero course. hitomi however attended shiketsu. hitomi ribs at her cousins for this quite often. -while they're called todocousins, none of them actually are legally named todoroki lmao. even the fosters that natsuo parents are under the name himura.

sullivan "sulli" o'malley, the fan favorite of my ocs and for good reason, weird even by half blood standards autistic little transfem daughter of athena, does Not like being at camp half blood. she loves her dad and is overwhelmed by all the other kids and simply doesn't like thinking of athena as her mom. her hair is a tangled mess and she sleeps at the weirdest times and has a little hideout in the woods around camp even though its dangerous. the other athena kids are mildly intimidated by her even though shes only 11. she has a signature wide eyed and unblinking stare. she has alot of knowledge about niche plants and insects.

quinn evangeline, genderfluid aromantic child of aphrodite, they seem cool but also they're just a loser like literally every other 15 year old out there, they have a bone to pick with their mom and they feel isolated feom the other aphrodite kids at times because of their aromanticism but otherwise she feels at home at camp half blood, being aromantic doesnt stop them from giving love advice to everyone around them (it almost always ends up crashing and burning), her dad is pan and happily married to a dude so like. yipee two loving dads

and finally cameron (i forgot what his last name was fuck), he/him enby child of hermes, besties with quinn (they gossip and paint their nails in the back of hermes cabin), his whole thing is that he Would be an absolute menace to society–a prankster if you will–but hes too lazy, rare case of a half blood having issues with their mortal parent and not their godly one, gay disaster

- rekis not one to like. hide his praise or anything he compliments langa a lot but just. every so often he'll grab langas wrist and look at him all soft and say "youre amazing langa" very reminiscent of how langa praises him and it just makes langa feel so fucking mushy and in love

- rekis used to affection from his family but thats kinda it and langas family was never super affectionate but he felt loved still but after his dad died he just felt super lonely but when they meet and start getting super close they both just feel like theyre overflowing with love both given and received and i just thinks that beautiful

- rekis chronically bad at opening bottles bc they hurt his hands and hes always embarrassed but he goes up to langa and is like. open please. and langa does KKFMSMFND

Over the course of their journey, Jin Zixuan notices that Lan Wangji is being oddly...attentive towards Wei Wuxian.

Some of it is only natural, of course. Wei Wuxian is masquerading as a woman (very convincingly, he might add, what with Wei Wuxian’s new body) whom Lan Wangji is escorting back to her family from some night-hunt or other, and Lan Wangji treats him accordingly: he pays for Wei Wuxian’s food at inns, treats him with the utmost deference, and makes sure to call him guniang whenever passersby approach them. There is a certain degree of courtesy expected from him with regards to Wei Wuxian, and from Jin Zixuan, too.

But Jin Zixuan is certain that courtesy towards a woman (or a young master turned into a woman, as the case might be) does not involve looking like someone just died when Wei Wuxian refers to Jin Guangyao as his husband out of habit, or giving Wei Wuxian the healthiest foods from the dinners they all share, or glaring at Jin Zixuan with pure disdain whenever Wei Wuxian throws an arm around his shoulders. Wei Wuxian nods, and Lan Wangji’s face falls so quickly that Jin Zixuan has to bite back a snort. “He was ranked seventh when we were young, but I think that was just because of his temper,” he muses. “Even Jiang Cheng thought he shouldn’t have been ahead of Chifeng-zun, especially since he’s so much older.”

“Chifeng-zun is married,” Lan Wangji interrupts, tugging Wei Wuxian’s horse a little further away from Jin Zixuan’s. “He is no longer a bachelor.”

This is news to both Jin Zixuan and Wei Wuxian, since they’ve been out of the loop with local gossip due to being dead for the past sixteen years. Predictably, Wei Wuxian gets distracted and starts wondering aloud about the kind of girl Nie-zongzhu might have married--strong-willed, he suggests, to match Nie-zongzhu’s forcefulness, and talented in the jiandao so she could make a good cultivation partner for him.

The corner of Lan Wangji’s lip turns up. “Not at all,” he counters. “She is very kind, and sweet-tempered, and doting towards their children. She is a master of the jian and the bow, but she prefers musical cultivation and healing to the jiandao and has not night-hunted but three or four times in the last thirteen years, because their little ones are still very small. Chifeng-zun could have married no one better, for no better person exists--he is the luckiest man in the world to have wed her, and says so at every opportunity.”

Suddenly, it’s Wei Wuxian’s turn to look downcast. “Really?” he asks, in a small voice. “Is Chifeng-zun’s wife that wonderful?”

Wait, was I wrong? Jin Zixuan thinks desperately--because no one could talk about someone like that unless they cared about them, and whomever Nie Mingjue might be married to, Hanguang-jun clearly holds the lady dear in his heart.

Perhaps Lan Wangji is simply in the habit of falling in love with other people’s wives? First Qin Su, and then the mysterious Nie-furen, and then--well, there don’t seem to be any more married women with such high standing, or Lan Wangji would probably have fallen in love with them too.

What a hopeless romantic, he sighs to himself, dismissing his half-baked ideas about Lan Wangji being in love with Wei Wuxian. Maybe he’ll pick someone single next time.

okay but you people realise that we dont have to do this whole gifted kid vs special ed kid thing right. both groups of people have experienced ableism in different ways. it isn't minimising other people's experiences to talk about your own. it isn't ableist to talk about the ableism you yourself have experienced, but it *is* ableist to insist that someone else's experience as a disabled person is invalid simply because it's different from yours. and this goes for people i've seen on both sides of the discussion.

for example, i was in the gifted kid program, and my younger sibling has been in special ed their whole life. we are both very autistic, and both have adhd. and our different experiences have still been bad for both of us because, surprise surprise, theyre Both Harmful!

my sibling was diagnosed early on, because their symptoms are more "visible" and closer to what abled people look out for. they've been bullied relentlessly for being weird and different, and made fun of for needing the accommodations that they do.

in my case, no one realised im autistic and have adhd until *i did myself* my senior year of hs, and i didn't get diagnosed until after i graduated. because the symptoms of my disabilities presented differently from my sibling's, i've been treated differently, but i still struggled nonstop throughout school. in fact, that's why i almost didnt graduate. i only did because of the pandemic pass, honestly - i graduated a couple months after it started. the pressure of the expectations, being dropped into accelerated courses i was in no way ready for, combined with the total lack of support or help when i needed it, led to me having so, so many breakdowns, from middle school all the way up to college, because i felt stupid for not being able to "just do it", as i was often told to do. i was taught to push myself beyond my limits, and as a result i still don't feel like i'm doing enough even when i'm actively burning myself out.

if i had some kind of accommodation for my disabilities whatsoever, maybe i would have done better. but because i didn't "seem disabled", or even know where to start in asking for help, my struggles were overlooked and my failing class after class was dismissed as me just being lazy and a disappointment. (eg. "you're so smart and we know you are so why don't you just *apply yourself* like you surely must be able to?" "you're really letting yourself down here." "there's no reason you shouldn't be able to do this." "i explained this already." "it's simple, what don't you get?" etc. etc.)

when i did my one semester of college before dropping out, i finally got my adhd diagnosis partway through the semester, and was able to reach out and apply for accommodations. and because of my adhd, i had issues setting up those accommodations for myself, to the point where i was told it would be "better to just wait until next semester". it was like i needed accommodations to help me be able to receive accommodations. i didn't get them, and i failed every single class i took. same as how i failed half of high school.

it isnt bragging to say i was in the gifted kid program because that's what the school itself called it. that's what actual schools call it. and That is the issue here, not the neurodivergent kids who are forced into it with just a "you'll do fine, you're Smart" and no further support beyond that. it's the way that schools separate children, ostracise them from their peers, for being both too smart and not smart enough.

the way kids who are in special ed programs are treated, by their teachers, peers and family, is terrible. disabled children often don't get the support they need, and are ridiculed for their disabilities. this has lasting, lifelong effects on the people who go through it. by all means, this should absolutely be talked about more, and is very much something that needs to change.

the thing is, the way the entire education system is set up is inherently ableist. between the cookie-cutter "this one method works for everyone", and the separation and othering of kids who are "different" starting very early on, there are countless issues. this isn't news. but it means that disabled kids in different areas of the system, different programs, will still experience ableism no matter what. and it's insane to try and pit our own experiences against each other, as fellow victims of this systemic issue, as if it's more "valid" to experience ableism one way than it is another. this makes no sense, and i feel it distracts from the real issue at hand: the educational system needs serious reform in regards to how it treats disabled children, let alone the many other aspects in which it's failing our youth.

i say all this as someone with experience working with disabled kids, and who intends to someday try college again to become a special ed teacher for younger children so they can receive the support and care that they need starting early on. my disabilities are making that plan difficult for me, but are also why it's something i'm passionate about. and that's why i feel it important to stress that the issue here is not other disabled people. it never has been.

(note: i know there are definitely plenty of abled children in gifted kid programs, but in my experience a significant portion of my classmates were disabled as well. this post is solely talking about that experience rather than the abled viewpoint in those programs, because disability is the point of this discussion.)

- you know how some siblings or partners or friends can communicate with their eyes and basically have telepathy? they totally have that and it annoys the shit out of every single person they meetjdksndks. someone will be talking to them and they will just make eye contact with each other bc it reminded them of an earlier convo they had or they both got annoyed by the other person or it reminds them of an inside joke or something and it just irritates EVERYONE. no one is able to intercept it and it’s just a thing that no matter what - even though they don’t mean to - you’ll feel a little left out when you’re with steveandbucky. it just comes with the gig. i like to imagine that depending on if it’s an au or not, its either really obvious or not. like in an au then yes it’s obvious they can have non verbal conversations, but if it’s not an au then it’s not entirely obvious bc they’re enhanced humans and they know how to hide their secret conversations. but everyone they talk to is essentially an enhanced human or has special abilities so it’s obvious to them and they catch them in the act LOL. if they’re interacting with regular people then it’s not very obvious though

- DATE NIGHT!!! yes they’re old yes they have date night. when they go out it’s usually to places in their neighborhood, but a lot of the time they like to stay in bc. they’re old men <3 steve is better at cooking and bucky is better at baking bc you can get creative with cooking and steve likes that more. he enjoys baking a lot too but he thinks bucky’s stuff tastes better. whenever they stay home though there’s ALWAYS a movie. always. they alternate choosing but there is always a movie to watch. bucky usually falls asleep nearing the end and steve plays with his hair😌 he rolls his eyes cause it happens every time but he actually likes when it happens bc he can braid strands of hair together

- steve knows his body is what is considered “perfect” but he still is insecure about it around most people and bucky knows this so when steve lounges at home in bucky’s boxer briefs and his own tee shirt or he kicks off his pants when he’s too hot at night in bed bucky is reminded of just how much steve loves him and feels comfortable around him which is something he always strives for - to make steve comfortable. not baby him because steve bitches at anyone that does that to him but to make him feel comfortable

- and on the subject of feeling comfortable i imagine that they always check in with one another but it’s very subconscious they hardly realize they do it. like steve will bitch at bucky to pick up his shoes from their doorway or to clean his hair from the shower drain but the next second he will ask him if his back still hurts from being kicked by sam and from where steve AND alpine scratched him (in very different ways)

- steve is the sweater husband and bucky is the sweatshirt husband. they trade off a lot but that’s just how their closets look

- steve takes a liking to crop tops 😌 but ONLY around the house bc again he’s really truly only comfortable around bucky. he wears em with boxer briefs or sweatpants but you can guarantee that the briefs and sweats usually just end up on the floor 9 out of 10 times

- hair ties everywhere. they can be found on the floor in the laundry in their bed in the couch on top of the fridge on their fire escape. they are literally everywhere. steve just picks them up and puts them in the bathroom but they always make their way back. he doesn’t say anything to bucky until he finds alpine chewing one and she ends up smacking herself in the face with the hairtie

- their fridge is always full with leftovers and food from sam or clint’s or whoever’s house or takeout. they always eat it all but they get and make a lot of food so the fridge is always full

- subconsciously bucky always has a hand on the back of steve’s neck. like it’s not ENTIRELY a possessive thing but he used to do it a lot when steve was small because it was easy and it was comfortable. for him and just for him and steve. it was like swinging an arm around steve’s shoulders or putting a hand on his shoulder. it was just natural and easy so he did it. a part of him back then prewar did it possessively too, but he always tampered that down bc steve wasn’t his. now he does it without shame

- steve really likes tofu and vegan meat, non dairy milk like almond and soy, and overall a lot of non dairy vegan foods, and a lot of fruits. he gets made fun of for a lot specifically about the vegan stuff but his reasoning is that there’s so much food accessible for people with allergies in the future that he wished existed a hundred years ago so he’s going to try it and stick with it if he likes it. people shut up after that

- he also tips a little more than he needs to everywhere he goes. everywhere. like it’s cool when steve rogers walks in to a restaurant bc he’s a superhero or whatever but its REALLY cool because he leaves a generous tip and that’s what really makes peoples day

- before they get legally married they are still very much married. like “i packed you lunch, meet me at the restaurant instead of me going to pick you up bc it’ll take longer, i got takeout let’s bitch together while we watch shitty reality tv, let’s bitch at EACH OTHER through the phone in public, let’s send each other ugly pictures of each other or funny texts while we’re right next to each other, i’m out with a group and you’re not there and i say multiple times ‘i miss steve/bucky’, let’s yell at each other from opposite ends of the apartment instead of getting up to see each other, steve i’m going to fuck you on the couch bc our room is too far, etc.” they are just very much married without the documents and legalities and it’s very obvious

-okay YES they definitely go to that bodega at all hours, and usually it's for normal things when they go separately: milk, cereal, toilet paper. but when they go in the middle of the night, they almost always purchase some like odd assortment of candies and deli meat. also, they're always in their pajamas. like bucky's in plaid pj pants and a star wars sweatshirt, and steve is in like 5" shorts and a huge crewneck and they're both in slides and they definitely only speak russian to each other when they're in there after hours

- au based on this post where some archaeologist finds a bunch of dannys [french person voice] Love Lettairs 2 rusty and so obviously the logical course of action is to rob the museum (which happens to be the museum that tess is curating. funny how things work out) without telling his team What Theyre Stealing. they successfully pull off the heist but turns out the letters were not among the items they stole!! danny is getting desperate. as a last-ditch attempt he calls tess and asks her to let them rob the museum. shes like Why The Fuck Would I Do That. he explains and she begrudgingly agrees. danny and livingston go break into the museum Again but rusty tails them bc dannys been acting Weird and he finds out abt the letters bc livingston sweats more whenever he tells a lie. they live happily ever after (literally, theyre immortal) the end. also even though dannys a werewolf the 11 all call him the new jersey devil (its not his fault that legend came to be ok!! he was very drunk!!)

- superpower au where rusty has midas touch and danny has corrosive touch and when theyre too young to have control over their powers (abilities develop throughout adolescence and the user gains control at the end of adolescence) they accidentally brush hands and are terrified they just killed each other but turns out their powers like. cancel out. so until they reach like 21 or 22 and can touch things without fucking them UP they just. hold hands all the time. bc otherwise they have to wear gloves to prevent Accidents and both of them “hate gloves” (and also love holding hands. gayasses)

- uhhh hallmark au where danny is a crime fiction writer out on some beach north of ocean city nj and rusty is his fancy nyc editor. everyone else is a thief including debbie who is just Very weirded out that her brother, who robbed boston’s institute of contemporary art at age 22 and got away with it, has decided to spend the rest of his life churning out books. he is very critically acclaimed and about half of the 11 are buds with him and use his published books as heist inspo. the other ~half of the 11 are buds with rusty, and they tell him if danny’s heists are feasible or not (they always are. scarily so.) anyway rusty and isabel break up 12 days before xmas and danny and tess break up 8 days before hanukkah so dannys heading to debbie’s place in upstate new york to mope for the holidays when A BLIZZARD HITS and he gets stranded in midtown. and he and rusty are buds but like. Email Buds. they dont hang out irl and therefore they dont let their Totally Bud-Like Feelings mess up their professional relationship. but danny is stranded and its hanukkah and he ends up crashing at rustys place for the duration of the blizzard. and then rusty ends up coming to debbies place for the rest of the holidays. and then they kiss on new years eve and debbie kicks them out bc theyre being gross

You've mentioned before that the Fae hierarchy is complicated and hard to explain but can you explain? I think you have but I can't find the post. Just like, is there one main ruler and then other people who work under them or co-rulers like what's it like? Sorry if you already answered a question like this.

okay so im gonna try, let me know if this borders on Fucking Nonsensical and i’ll try to rephrase it. also its going under a cut because its 1) long af, and 2) literally just me rambling about fae legal minutiae, i’m fairly certain its deeply boring tbh

the courts are like whole bunch of concentric and sometimes interlocking circles of various sizes. the whole enchanted forest, and all the fae in it (including the solitaries) are one CourtTM. this is usually what humans are referring to when they say “The Court,” and that’s what Virgil as Lord of the Forest, is in charge of - the whole shebang.

Splitting The CourtTM in half gives you Seelie (further divided in half into Springs and Summers) and Unseelie (further divided in half into Autumn and Winter)

This is where it starts to get complicated. 

The gentry are like the nobility, but it’s not quite an inherited-title thing, in the way it is for human nobilty. The most powerful fae in a given circle is the one who’s in charge, and gentry are (usually) the most powerful type of fae.

So, Virgil is the (sort of) the most powerful fae in the whole forest, the most powerful Unseelie, and the most powerful Winter, which makes him simultaneous the head of the Wickhills court, the Unseelie court, and the Winter court.

(I say sort of, because technically the head of all three of those courts is actually Virgil’s mother, but seeing as she is too eldritch to 1) do any actual governing - hence the reason she made Virgil to begin with - or 2) communicate successfully with anyone except Virgil, we’re just gonna cut out the middle man and say it’s Virgil)

And then whoever is the most powerful Autumn is the head of the Autumn court, but they also answer to Virgil since he’s head of the Unseelie court. Whoever is the most powerful Seelie is second to Virgil-as-head-of-The-Whole-Court, but outranks the head of the Autumn court, because theyre the next concentric circle up 

(god i hope this is making sense)

then we get to the interlocking circles. all the sprites have their own court, for example. BUT sprites can be any season. So they all answer to the head of the sprites (whatever season that sprite is) but some of them are also answering to the Spring court, and some the Summer, so on and so forth. The sprites are also further divided into pixies, nixies, imp, gremlins, so on and so forth

Now, I say usually for gentry being the most powerful type of fae - which is true, but isn’t the case 100% of the time. The issue is that the vast majority of gentry are kind of a bunch of pretentious, self-absorbed assholes, and will get very pissy if anyone points out that there are, in fact, some wild fae who are more powerful than them.

AND you can, if you like, refuse - if the most powerful Autumn up and decides theyre done with this bullshit and want to fuck off into the woods, they can hand it over to the next strongest Autumn and do so. It’s kind of like deputizing, in that if they come back and decide they want their title again, it’s still their, but once they say “you’re in charge” that deputy has full authority - Virgil is technically his mother’s “deputy” in this analogy.

(Virgil could theoretically do this as well, but 1) he has things like A Sense Of Responsibility and doesnt trust anybody else with the forest for love or money, 2) since his mother is more powerful than him she could just take it back from whoever he deputized and she would probably kill them even if she didnt mean to and 3) she would absolutely mean to, because his Mother would pitch a fit)

OKAY, hopefully that made sense, now we get to the second aspect of this whole shebang - things that are dependent on familial inheritance.

Stuff like personal property or territory, as well as debts and gifts both magical and mundane.

Heirs are chosen based on season, and earliness-of-season. The line of inheritance goes from you your children who are your same season, from earliest birthday to latest, your children who are your same seelie/unseelie court but not the same season, the non-opposite season, and then the opposite season last

So a Spring for example, goes (all of them earliest to latest in the season) Springs, Summers, Winters, Autumns.

(so if a Spring had a very powerful Autumn child, and a very weak Spring child, and then died, the child who inherits their stuff is the Spring)

This also means that if there’s more than one parent involved and theyre of different seasons, the children inherit things from different parents in different orders. (The Spring mother’s heir is the Spring child, but the Winter parent’s heir is the Autumn)

if you don’t have children, it goes to your siblings (same order) and if you don’t have those either, things start to get dicey, especially with magical shit being inherited. If it’s a debt, it has to go somewhere, and it’s likely to start flailing all over your (usually matrilineal) family line trying to find someone to stick to.

So debts can sometimes be the (very unpleasant) fae equivalent of “my great uncle so-and-so who i never even met left me a house on the lake”
